This post touched on physical media for drawing which is good but I want to add my ramblings about physical drawings as well because these days there's a lot of emphasis on drawing digitally, to the point where I think it's been an actual decade since I've come across a tutorial where someone has drawn things physically on paper....Like, don't underestimate the power of drawing on paper and learning to use physical media. Yeah it's not going to do anything in terms of your popularity đđđ§ but at the moment, you've also got an extra layer of protection between you and AI since the best physical art AI could probably do with current technology is something akin to "printing" out a picture with a writing utensil of some sort since mimicking real physical technique from photos of paintings or drawings is quite a bit harder than weighting pixels and outputting them into a file.
I'm also telling you this for corporate reasons. The way the world is going, there's going to come a day when there are no free programs for drawing, and certainly tablets and computers won't be free or cheap, and they're going to demand all your personal information to even boot up. You'll be locked into selling all your data and locking yourself into subscriptions just to have some artistic expression. Do you want that? Adobe and apple can do a lot but they can't fucking take away your paper and pencil. You should learn to use them if only to take back power from corporations. It's why even though I do use digital tools a lot for comic color because it's faster and I'm just one person, I still do almost everything else physically (ink/pencil/layouts/etc). I have a box the size of a large coffin with all the comic book pages I've drawn in my adult life, and the only way Adobe is getting their hands on them or removing my access to them is by banging down my front door or burning my house down.
Sure, technology makes our lives easier, but if you learn to use physical mediums, no one can ever take art away from you or keep you from creating it (at least not EASILY without some seriously oppressive changes) and it's going to be a very long time (maybe not even in our lifetimes) that the corporate ability to do so is finally nerfed.
And yeah you don't need fancy shit. I do all my rough sketching on printer paper with a mechanical pencil, or with a cheap ass sketch book I carry around. Especially if it's just for you practicing and no one is going to see it, you do not need fancy things. Your ancestors ground stuff up and dipped their hands in it and smacked a cave wall. This is your RIGHT to make shit by whatever means necessary whether you think it's instagram worthy or not. (I even outlined what you can use for animation from dollar tree if you're broke in a series of posts if that's a thing you want to do https://www.tumblr.com/featureenvyproductions/752966738522619904/my-thoughts-on-how-to-do-basically-kinda-cel?source=share)
And that's another thing too, don't worry if it sucks. I promise it doesn't, because you made something. And also even if you think it does because you're not meeting your goal or whatever, you have to shake the 10000 bad drawings out of your wrist before you get to the good stuff. Even someone like me who's been drawing [seriously anyway] for 25+ years has to warm up a bit before churning out something serious. Just do it I promise it's fine. (And also if you have the ability to take a figure drawing and/or life drawing class do that because in my experience it helps)
(Also not that I'm that great at art still compared to a lot of artists, I have been at it for a long long time, so if anyone who sees my stuff ever wants to know how I did something, please ask me, I will tell you free tips, I love info dumping, there is no such thing as a stupid question,,,,the greatest compliment is being asked how I did something,,,you do not understand,,,,to me democratizing art means ensuring YOU no matter who you are, can make some of it)
Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this đ
And this gem đ
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
đșHere is my list:
Proko (Free)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard)
Aaron Rutten (free)
BoroCG (free)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
đHere is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
đ»As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates)
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, ect Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Libresprite (free, for pixel art)
Those are the ones I can recall.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
#also yeah watch drawfee#I just started going through all their YouTube videos and I love these people#This is exactly what art should be like#You know like they're really good artists and it's obvious and you can learn a LOT from even their goofy speed drawings#their technique is very good and they show drawing and colorization as an iterative process#but in a way I think anyone can comprehend#good technique but approachable#And they have fun with it and don't take themselves to seriously#If I was going to get someone to watch a drawing channel this would be it#To be honest it's not even that I give a supremely large fuck about AI art#What I care more about is corporations suffering#as in I love to watch them squirm#i am acespec but physically attracted to the feeling it gives me#when a corporate entity can't milk cash from something or get their grubby hands on things they have no right to#and you exercising your human right to make art without them makes them suffer#it's also better for the environment#this is an anti-capitalist/anarchist thing for me#this is why I will tell you art things if you ask

âPleaseâŠ.âÂ
It was the only thing ringing in your head, your fingers tightening their grip in Seungcheolâs dark mane as his mouth refused to leave yours, like it was the only thing keeping him alive.Â
Why now? What changed?Â
The thought ran in the back of your mind as Seungcheol let out a soft groan, his teeth sinking into your lower lip as he pulled back just a little, just enough to breathe but you lurched for his mouth again. It didnât matter why, all that mattered was that this was finally happening and you didnât want it to stop.Â
Mirroring your desperation, he sat you on the hood of his car, freeing his hands to push the hair away from your face and hold it surprisingly delicately, like he couldnât believe he was really kissing you. It felt like he was conflicted between wanting to look at you and wanting to devour you but when you wrapped your legs around his waist, he chose the latter.Â
At least it seemed like it until your hand slipped between your bodies, reaching for the button of his pants and Seungcheol pulled back with a jerk, like he had been electrocuted.Â
âOhâŠâ You drew your hands back quickly. âI thought you wanted toâŠ.âÂ
âI uhâŠâ He looked around, pushing his hair back. âY/n, we are out in the openâŠâÂ
Yeah but in the middle of fucking nowhere, with not a soul in sight.Â
But of course.Â
It wasnât the location that was the problem, it was him. You should have seen this coming, you should have known that with every step Seungcheol took forward, he took two back.Â
Scoffing, you slid off the car, tucking your hair behind your ears, trying not to let how disappointed you were show on your face. Seungcheol glanced at you, gulping audibly.Â
âY/n IâŠâÂ
âI donât even know why I keep falling for this-âÂ
âPleaseâŠâÂ
âWhat does that word even mean anymore Seungcheol?â You raised your hands in defeat, ready to walk away. âI donât want to know, I donât want to hear it-â
Grabbing the back of your neck, Seungcheol pulled you up against him again, mouth hot on yours. When you tried to push him away, he didnât let go, pressing his forehead against yours, breathing in all that tension between the two of you.Â
âLet me go.â You tried to free yourself. âChoi Seungcheol-âÂ
âI donât think you can even begin to fathom just how much I want youâŠ. how much I want this.â He groaned. âI didnât think Iâd ever get to hold you like this.âÂ
You frowned, pulling back. âWhy, because of the force field?âÂ
Seungcheol shook his head, âNo- I mean yeah, that was one reason, I still donât know youâre unaffected but thank heavens-â He looked at you intently. â- staying away from you has been excruciatingly painful.âÂ
âThen why?â You wrapped your hands around his wrists, hoping he wouldnât let go like always. âWhy are you staying away from me Cheol? Why canât we-âÂ
âDo you want this?â He whispered like he was unsure and you blinked at him, just a little surprised. âRight here, right now, do you-âÂ
âChoi Seungcheol, for a man this big, your brain really is the size of a pea.â Rolling your eyes, you shook your head. âIâve wanted this since the moment I set foot in camp and my eyes on you-âÂ
âThen fuck everything else,â With a swift movement he spun you around, the shriek of surprise lost in your throat, your palms finding the hood of the car. Seungcheol did not wait for you to even process what was happening - pushing your hair over your shoulder, his hands quickly worked the strings of your armor behind, mouth by your ear. âI want you and I donât care whoâs watching.âÂ
Before you can ask him who the fuck could possibly be watching the two of you, he let out what seemed to be a frustrated groan at the complexity of the lace. You were just about to undo it yourself when he reached for the dagger strapped to your waist and with a swift movement, ran it across the strings, slicing them open.Â
âCheol what-â You whined. âHow am I supposed to wear this again?âÂ
âArmour is for protection.â He slid the bronze plates off your torso, dropping them to the ground as you turned to face him again. âAnd thatâs what Iâm here for. I got you.âÂ
Grinning, you grabbed its twin blade and mirrored his actions, undoing the knotted strings on his shoulders, freeing him of his gear. Taking a momentary step back, the two of you quickly got rid of the various metallic appendages and weapons lodged everywhere, dropping them onto the forest floor and you were barely done when Seungcheol pulled you towards him, kissing you again.Â
It was different now, slower, deeper, more relieved but somehow more electrifying - you could feel your boobs up against the hard muscles of his chest, his fingers found the sliver of skin between your top and pants, pressing into it and your hands gripped around his biceps, nails digging in.
For some reason you suddenly realised, that though in the last 3 days you had been with 3 different men, Seungcheol was the first one that it genuinely felt intimate with, the first one you had even kissed, nevermind with such passion. And god did you want to keep kissing him but the memory of Dionysus's dildo ran in your mind and hell could empty all its devils here and you wouldn't care. You just wanted him deep inside you.Â
This time, when your hand found the button of his pants again, Seungcheol didnât stop you, moaning into your mouth instead. Just as you unzipped it, he quickly slid them off, the fabric pooling at his feet and your hands moved to their next target, his shirt.Â
âWanna see you too.â He kissed you along your jawline, playing with the hem of your shirt.Â
You laughed softly, working the buttons, âThen take it off.âÂ
âThen I'll have to stop this.â He continued the trail of kisses down to your neck. âAnd I don't want to.âÂ
Smiling to yourself you undid the last button, pushing the fabric aside, thanking the universe that today Seungcheol went commando in his pants. As his lips found your shoulder, your eyes caught Seungcheolâs dick, already familiar with exactly how it looked but the real one was so much better. He was unbearably hard, hissing when you wrapped your hand around the base.
âBetter than you imagined?â He sounded cocky when you began stroking his length, letting out a soft sigh.Â
âWhat makes you think I imagined it?â Â
Seungcheol chuckled. âBaby, there's only a wall between our rooms which mind you, is really thin. I've heard you take my name before.â
You froze as his hands gripped your waist tighter.Â
âFaster cheol, harder cheol, Right there cheolâŠ. I heard it all.âÂ
Okay yeah, there were days you had indeed slid your fingers in and out, imagining it was him ravaging you but why didn't your stupid ass ever doubt if he could hear it??
âYou sounded like I was doing a good job.â He smiled against your skin.Â
âYou mean I was doing a job.âÂ
Getting yourself off was not new to you. You didn't really have any boyfriends but the handful of people you had slept with in your life were disappointing to say the least, devastatingly incapable of making you feel any pleasure. Of course after Soonyoung revealed that demigods could not be satisfied by mortals, it made sense why your own hands and toys were the only ones that could make you cum. You had to admit though, getting off to the thought of Seungcheol fucking you into his large white bed gave you some of the best orgasms you ever had. He didn't need to know that. The way he was smiling at the memory of you moaning his name had inflated his ego enough.Â
âOh you were doing a good job?â He detached his mouth from you at last, drawing back, eyes scouring your face. âWhy don't you let me see this time?âÂ
As he kicked his pants off and took a step back then another, you looked at him in disbelief.Â
âYou want me to imagine you fucking me when you're standing right in front of me-â You ran your eyes down his body covered only by his shirt hanging off his shoulders. â-looking like that?âÂ
Seungcheol nodded. âLean against the car and spread your legs for me baby.âÂ
âCheol-âÂ
âDo it Y/n.â
âBut-â
âThat's a command soldier.âÂ
This asshole. Of course Choi Seungcheol made use of hierarchy during sex.Â
âYes Chief.âÂ
Rolling your eyes you pulled your pants down your legs, tossing them to join your gear on the forest floor. Your panties were slick with arousal, uncomfortably sticking to you, the dark wet spot only getting larger. Eyes flickering down between your legs, Seungcheol clasped his hands behind his back standing at ease, the way he did when he oversaw morning training.Â
âSo you're just going to watch?â You licked your drying lips. âAre you not even going to touch yourself?âÂ
If you did, it was only fair that he did too.
But Seungcheol shook his head. âI'm yours to do whatever.âÂ
God did you want to throw your arms around him and pull him into another kiss but he seemed so damn insistent that you put on a show. Fine, if that's what he wants, you'll give it to him.Â
You ran your fingers over your wet panties, sighing at the way a sudden jolt ran down your body when they grazed your clit. You were only just about to push the fabric to the side and slide your fingers into your pretty wet hole when you felt a familiar twist in the pits of your stomach. Surprised, you found yourself almost buckling forward, hands quickly gripped the car behind you trying to find balance as the coil tightened, building the feeling inside. Legs shaking, you attempted to squeeze them and chase the feeling when in a flash Seungcheol was inches away from you, his hand holding your legs apart, shaking his head.Â
Shutting your eyes, you threw your head back, your entire being almost convulsing as your organsm hit you hard and you came with a not so soft moan.Â
As you tried to catch the breath you hadn't taken all this while, Seungcheol leaned closed, whispering in your ear.Â
âStill think it was you who did a good job?âÂ
Eyes widening, you looked at him, lips parted in shock.Â
âYou mean that was⊠that youâŠâÂ
Seungcheol chuckled, moving his hand closer to your core, letting his fingers graze your even more wet panties.Â
âAn orgasm is caused by nerves and nerves carry electric impulses.â Given your frown, he continued. âI'm the Son of Zeus, anything with electric tendencies is under my control.âÂ
That meant all those days, sitting on the other side of the wall, Seungcheol had made you cum untouched.Â
âDid that feel good?â He whispered as your breath slowly came back to normal, his hand pushing the fabric of your underwear, his finger running between your folds, feeling how wet you were. âLooks like it did.âÂ
You nodded slowly.Â
âNow it's my turn.â And without a warning, he slipped two fingers into your hole, as your hands flew to grip his biceps. âbut I'll need to prep you first baby.â
Oh you knew.
While his fingers pumped in and out of you, you pulled Seungcheol closer by the collar of his shirt, kissing him, hands trailing up into his thick hair. You didn't know obscenely kissing someone like this out in the open while his fingers stretched you open could feel this arousing. You didn't think it could get any better until Seungcheol broke away, whispering into your ear, âI'm going to fuck you now.â
A shudder ran down your body and a shriek left your mouth as Seungcheol spun you around once again, your palms finding the hood of the car the balance over but this time, you could feel his erection against your ass. Wasting no time, he lined his tip against your hole, slowly sinking in, both of your moans matching with the same relief, the same arousal. Choi Seungcheol was fucking you at last.Â
Pushing all the way till the hilt, Seungcheol pulled back, gripping your wrist tight but thrusting into you slowly. You couldn't tell if he was being gentle or savoring it - you just needed him up in your guts.Â
âCheol.â You breathed, making him lean over to hear you. âDidn't you hear me in your house? I like hard and fast.âÂ
Chuckling, Seungcheol picked up the pace, snapping his hip into yours, the impact surely bruising where your skin grazed the car. You could tell he was still controlling himself, holding back like he was afraid of breaking you.Â
âAnd rough.â You added and that seemed to do the trick.Â
Letting out a groan, his hand immediately found the nape of your neck, pushing you down onto the hood, devoid of all the prior gentleness. Despite your whole upper body being pressed against cold metal, you smiled to yourself and as if he could not get enough, Seungcheol gathered both your wrists with his free hand and pinned them to your lower back, fucking you like an animal in the jungle.Â
Hell yes. God yes you wanted this and the way he felt was so much better than you thought, his dick eventually finding all the right spots, making you feel so full of him. Oh you couldn't wait to have him fill you but before that, you felt your orgasm approaching, everything in your stomach tightening again.Â
âFuck, I'mâŠ.â You struggled to speak with the way your cheek was pressed against the hood. âIâŠâ
Sliding his hand from the nape to wrap your neck, Seungcheol pulled you back up against him, hips not stopping their thrusts even for a moment.Â
âWhat is it baby? Gonna cum for me?âÂ
You nodded, feeling your walls fluttering around his length, hands desperately trying to hold on to anything.
âGood girl.â He whispered, bringing the hand on your waist to your clit and almost instantly you could feel yourself coming, tightening around him like a vice.Â
âThat's it.â Seungcheol groaned, slowing down his pace as your walls clamped around him. âThat's it baby, you did so good.âÂ
âCheolâŠ.â You whispered, finding your breath again, barely down from your high, legs still trembling. âI wanna feel full of you.âÂ
Clearly he was just as desperate to come inside you because all of a sudden, the man who seemed like he had unending stamina was losing his rhythm. You tightened your walls around him, squeezing his length when it was deep inside you, arching your back to help him reach further in. He had just about given you what you were dying to have when out of no fucking where, you heard Jeonghan saying Seungcheolâs name.Â
The latter instantly halted his actions, looking around just as panicked as you until the call of his name again made him realise where it was coming from. The looking glass.Â
Whispering a sorry against your ear, Seungcheol pulled out slowly, leaving you unclenching around nothing as you felt your arousal leak down your thigh filthily.Â
What the hell??Â
Seungcheol rummaged through the discarded gear, pulling his looking glass, being careful to show only his face given neck down, he was an absolute mess.Â
âHan.âÂ
âCheol, what's your status quo?â
Groaning you pulled your panties back into place. Evidently this was not going to be a short conversation.
âWe uh, just reached the forest.âÂ
âJust? Shouldn't you have reached an hour ago?âÂ
Seungcheol looked at you guiltily but continued nevertheless. âY/n messed up reading the map so we had to take a longer route.âÂ
You raised your eyebrows. Oh, he was playing dirty. Then you could too.Â
Walking up to him, you dropped to your knees, taking Seungcheolâs pretty cock in your hands, his eyes widening. On the other hand Jeonghan, oblivious to it all, went on.Â
âOkay, Jihoon and Hansol scoured their woods already, there's no traces of the monster there. Negative for Joshua and I too. We haven't heard from Seokmin and Chan though, I assume Min's pegasus is giving him a tough time. What about you?âÂ
You had no idea if Seungcheol was listening to him or pretending to, because all this while, you had been very silently and very skillfully, sucking his dick.Â
âCheol?âÂ
âYeah.â He tore his eyes away from you with much difficulty, turning to his friend. âI uh⊠I don't know yet, I mean, we haven't tried to track it yet, w-we just r-reached.âÂ
You smiled at his stuttering words, knowing he was close.Â
âOkay but be careful. My gut feeling is that it's in the Nyx forest. What better place for a monster to thrive right?âÂ
âFuck-â Cheol muttered as your teeth grazed him accidently, as you quickly pulled back, looking apologetic.Â
âCheol, is everything okay?âÂ
âYeah just Y/n ....almost fell.â He gulped, turning to Jeonghan. âYeah I got it, we'll be careful and I'll let you know if there's any developments.âÂ
âAlright and-âÂ
Before he could complete, Seungcheol tossed the glass onto the gear pile and gripped your chin, holding it as he pushed his length further into your mouth.Â
âWhat a brat.â He groaned, feeling his tip hit the back of your throat. âWhat if Jeonghan found out?â
You couldn't care less. All you cared about was how deep could you possibly take Seungcheol, relaxing your throat as he pushed in.Â
âF-fuck.â He muttered, quickly pulling out, jerking off his length. âOpen wide.âÂ
And you did, sticking your tongue out just in time to feel spurts of his cum coat it messily, spilling onto your lips and out of the corner of your mouth.Â
Without waiting for you to swallow, Seungcheol pulled you up to your feet, kissing you again, unbothered about tasting himself.Â
âI'll get you some water.â He dropped a kiss on your forehead before quickly going to the car and reaching for the bottle. As you drank, mouth and throat dry and sore, Seungcheol hurriedly began buttoning his shirt again.Â
Wait, that's it?Â
âCheol.â He glanced at you questioningly. âWhat are youâŠâÂ
âJeonghan thinks the Chimaera is most definitely here.â He held your pants out by your feet, prompting you to put your feet in. You complied, still confused. âWe should try to track it as soon as possible.âÂ
âSeungcheol we justâŠ.â You sighed, dropping the bottle on the forest floor. âWe just had sex after days of behaving like we cannot bear each other, don't you think we need to talk?âÂ
âWe do.â He nodded seriously, doing your button. âAnd we will. Just not now, at the right time-âÂ
âWhat right time?!â You stepped away from him, anger coursing through you. âAfter leaving me confused for days, after fucking me in the middle of nowhere, you don't think I deserve an explanation?âÂ
âYou do Y/n and I will tell you everything but we just need to find the monster first. It's dangerous-âÂ
âDid you not realise that when you had your dick inside me??â You looked at him incredulously. âHow is that we had the time to have sex, but not to have a discussion-â
âEnough.â Seungcheolâs voice was hard and urgent. âI cannot keep repeating the same thing again Y/n. Yes, you deserve an explanation and yes we will talk, just. not. now. Now, we need to find the monster.âÂ
âBut Cheol-âÂ
âY/n stop.â
âI just want to-âÂ
âThat's a command, soldier.âÂ
Taken aback you blinked at him, processing his words. Â
âYes chief.âÂ
And with that you turned and walked away into the woods, ignoring his voice calling out to you and letting the darkness of the forest consume you.
You had no idea how long or how deep into the forest you had ventured - you just needed to get away from Seungcheol as soon as possible. You knew he would have followed if he had managed to get his pants on in time but you had disappeared into the darkness before he could. In hindsight maybe that wasn't the best idea because the forest was barely visible despite your extremely sharp eyesight, and though you had your energy reader on you, hanging around your neck, you couldn't use it. You didn't feel warmth.Â
âThis isn't the kind of forest you roam alone in, sweet summer child.â
Holding back a shriek you turned around, shocked by a presence in this dark forest. All you could see was the silhouette of a tall lanky man, leaning against the thick trunk of a tree, only half his face illuminated by the small fire burning by his feet. His features looked royal, as though even without the light, he'd still shine all the same. You couldnât see his eyes though - they were hidden behind black sunglasses which seemed rather unnecessary given the surroundings. The theme of black continued in his attire - a soft black fur jacket thrown over a black shirt and black slacks, accents of white, green and gold, littered all over. The most noticeable thing about him was perhaps his hair - streaks of red and grey in spiky black hair. Strangely he looked both old and young at the same time, almost timeless.Â
âYouâre alone.â You pointed out.Â
âIâm an adult.â
âMore like ancient.â You muttered to yourself but the man seemed to have heard it somehow.Â
âAncient?â He chuckled. âI suppose I should be offended but that's an understatement.âÂ
You frowned, not quite understanding.Â
âDon't rack your brain sweetheart. I've already figured out that you're not too bright considering, you know, the little show you put up earlier.â
You felt your jaw hang, cheeks burning up. What the fuck-Â
âAnd before you ask, ew no, I wasn't watching - I'd rather burn in Tartarus than watch that tragedy.â He rolled his eyes, looking disgusted. âBut this is Nyx's forest and everything here talksâŠ.â
A whole damn forest was watching you and Seungcheol have sex?? You wanted to throw up, throw a fit and throw something at this man, all at once. Overwhelmed by everything, you held your head, trying to sort out the overload of information.
âFirst of all, who the hell are youâŠ..âÂ
âGoodness be damned, you're really dumber than I thought.â He walked up, closer to the fire, his features much more clear in the light. âIâm what youâre looking for.âÂ
You looked him up and down.Â
âIâm not looking for a boomer with a fashion crisis.âÂ
The man burst out laughing, looking away, shoulders shaking. âYouâre funny darling, not everyone can joke in the face of danger.âÂ
âIâm not joking.â You rolled your eyes. âAnd clearly, youâre not dangerous. If you were, you wouldnât be wasting your time with a conversation, darling.âÂ
He smiled.Â
âThe conversation is courtesy of the fact that you are also what I am looking for.â Taking a step forward, he inched closer. âI'm Chimaera.âÂ
You blinked at him once.Â
Then twice.
Then snickered.Â
What bullshit.Â
You had read up about the monster on your way here - it was supposedly a weird mix of a lion, a goat and a snake that also happened to breathe fire. This⊠this was a man? And a man who was clearly fooling you for whatever reason.
âOh yeah?â You crossed your arms. âThen I'm actually Zeus, King of the Gods-â
âI forget how little you know about this world sweetheart.â He scoffed, taking the glasses off and tucking them inside his jacket.Â
You felt your whole body freeze. His eyesâŠ.they had slits, like a snake.Â
âDid you really think I could live amongst mortals looking like a genetic experiment gone catastrophically wrong? Obviously I have a human form.âÂ
You hesitated, gulping, realising that regardless of whether this man was indeed the Chimaera, you, like an idiot, were both unarmed and unprotected.Â
âWhat? Still donât believe me?â He cocked his head. âOh sweetheart.âÂ
He waved his hand and the flames of the campfire rose, dancing and wrapping around him. You watched as he smiled at you, the fire not leaving a single mark on his skin, as though it didnât burn him at all. Finally, the glowing bright orange ran up his neck and disappeared into his mouth.Â
The fire breather. You took a step back and then another. Fuck, fuck, fuck-Â
âDon't tell me you're also stupid enough to run.â He clicked his tongue. âYou may be powerful but youâre no match for me. Besides,â He walked up, taking the help of a dapper looking walking stick that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. âI only want to talk.âÂ
âW-with me?â You stuttered. âAbout what?âÂ
âDo you really not know?âÂ
You did. A tiny voice in your head spoke for you - Fire.Â
Your fire. He knew about it.Â
âHow do you know?âÂ
âWhy wouldnât I know darling?â He smiled at you in a way that was both sweet and sinister. âDaddy knows everything.âÂ
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
âThat didnât come out right.â He pinched the bridge of his nose as you looked at him with a mix of confusion, fear and disgust. âWhat I meant is, I know your fire because itâs mine Y/nâŠ.. Iâm your father.â
Somewhere far off, thunder rumbled across the sky, filling the silence. There was a storm coming but it was no match for the one already going on inside you. The time for humour was over.
You had already been on the edge of tolerance with Hestia ignoring you all these days and now, to hear such a vile joke about your parentage from a monster was just plain evil. You knew Jeonghan said you werenât to face the creature on your own but god were you ready to annihilate it.Â
âShut up.â You spoke between gritted teeth. âI donât know what youâre trying to do but-âÂ
âYou donât believe me.â The Chimaera chuckled. âSit down Y/n, you are in terrible need of a crash course.âÂ
âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âSit.âÂ
âNo.â You crossed your arms, repeating your question. âWhat, do you mean?âÂ
The man sighed, leaning against a nearby tree.Â
âDid you think gods are the only ones who can mate with mortals?â He shook his head. âMonsters can too, darling. In fact, most mortals are our children.âÂ
You felt a chill run down your spine.Â
âOf course unlike you god spawn they donât carry our powers but our nature? Oh the desire to wreak havoc, to cause chaos, they do inherit that. Every thief, every killer, every arsonist,â He smiled at you but it didnât reach his eyes. âTheyâre all our offspring.âÂ
The flames of the campfire rose higher, burning brighter, drawing out a memory you had been trying your best to forget.Â
âI cannot be your child.â You muttered, heart racing in your chest. âThatâs not possibleâŠâÂ
âIs it that difficult to believe?â He raised an eyebrow. âYou could always tell you were different. You never felt like you belonged. Your powers, theyâre unlike the others, so brilliant.â His eyes gleamed. âItâs because youâre mine.âÂ
You felt your guts twist. A half monster. Thatâs what he was calling you.Â
âLook at us Y/n.â He stuck his hand out, the flames coming to life in his hand. âLook at me and tell me we arenât the same-âÂ
âNo weâre not.â You looked at him defiantly. âI may be hostile and unwelcoming and guarded and a lot of other things but Iâm not a bad personâŠ.. Iâm not evil.âÂ
âReally?â He chuckled. âAre you trying to convince me or yourself?âÂ
You glared at him.Â
âDenying the truth and suppressing the memories - they wonât change what happened Y/n.â He stepped forward, the slits in his eyes narrowing. âThey wonât change the fact that you almost killed someone.âÂ
No.
No.Â
No.Â
âAnd not just anyone, a five year old child, a child a family entrusted you to look after.â
âEnough.â You spoke between gritted teeth.Â
âAll because he spoke a few harsh truths to your face-âÂ
âI said enough.âÂ
But he didnât stop.Â
âYou got so angry, you unleashed your powers, burnt down the house and nearly killed that child.âÂ
âThatâs not true-âÂ
âBut it is!â He snarled, raising his voice as the fire around him rose to life, crawling towards you on the forest floor. The amusement in his voice was replaced with something darker, something more menacing. âIf the firefighters hadnât come on time, that child would have diedâŠ. All because you didnât like what he said.âÂ
âHe said I deserved to be alone!â You finally snapped, something hot searing through your veins. âHe said my parents abandoned me because I was not good enough for them!âÂ
The memory finally flashed in your head again, fresh as day.Â
For almost a year now, you had been taking on a side job of babysitting kids for rich parents who needed to get away for their late night dates and parties. Usually it was a piece of cake - most kids were already tired from playing the whole day so all you had to do was ensure they finished their food and went to sleep. After that you simply worked on your assignments or flipped through the book collections on the shelves or the channels on the tv, waiting to be relieved of your duties.Â
It was just another night like that, another rich family, another big house in the suburb but this time, it was the most uncooperative child you had ever encountered. You had a buttload of work to do that day, your pencils and papers scattered all over the dining table once that little devil had gone to his room to sleep but for some fucking reason, he kept waking up. You could tell he was spoilt, demanding to eat candy at freaking 10pm, secretly drinking soft drinks from the fridge, throwing his toys all over. You had been patient with him for a long time, much beyond your capacity really but when he spilled a bottle full of sauce on a project you had spent hours working on, you raised your voice.Â
You expected him to cry and that youâd have to apologise, calm him and put him to sleep, instead, he sneered at you.
He simply shrugged and asked why you were being such a pain in the ass. As though it wasnât shocking enough to hear such a statement from a child, he went on to ask how your parents handled someone as uptight as you. When you retorted that you didnât have any parents, he said two words that still haunted you - âNo wonder.â
By now you had already reached your limit but when he added that they must have left you because you were so insufferable, something inside you snapped. One minute you were the angriest you had ever been and in the next, there was fire and screams everywhere.Â
His cries rang in your ears as you shut them hard trying to block it. The Chimaeraâs snickers were what took over instead.Â
âStop trying to run away from what you did-âÂ
âThat was an accident.â You shook your head hard. âThat wasnât on purpose, I didnât want to hurt him-âÂ
âIs it?â He raised an eyebrow. âThen why does no one in your precious camp know this story Y/n? The parents sued you, you spent a few nights in jail for arson, in a few days time you are to appear in front of a jury to plead your case yet your lawyer doesn't know a thing that happened - no one can figure out how the fire started and you wonât tell them. You donât want to tell them because that would mean admitting that youâre different, that youâre not one of them, that you always were and are a loner.âÂ
You wanted to deny it, just like when Wonwoo was exposing you like this. You wanted to scream and shout and tell this horrible creature it was wrong but words couldnât leave your mouth - in the face of truth, one often fell silent.Â
âBut you donât have to be alone Y/n.â The Chimaera stepped forward, his demeanor suddenly switching from accusatory to sympathetic. âFrom the moment I sensed your power that night, Iâve been looking for you. Iâve been trying to meet you and tell you who you, to bring you home, where you belong-âÂ
âYouâŠ.â You looked at him, lips parting in surprise. âYou want to take me home?âÂ
He nodded. âThe mortals are anyways too unworthy to understand your power but so are the demigods. Even if you are half god, the fact that you are half monster is all they will see. With them, youâll always have to hide but with us? Youâll be free. Free to be yourself, free to unleash your powers, free to be unafraid.âÂ
Your mouth moved but no words left you.Â
âTell me anything but that youâre thinking about the Son of Zeus.â He narrowed his eyes. âThat youâve set your heart on him.â
Stuttering, you looked away. âI..IâmâŠ.â
âYou mortals and your love,â He rolled his eyes. âThe man because of whom youâre so hesitant, do you think heâll accept you once he learns what you really are? He brought you to his camp to save you from danger but what do you think will happen when he learns that you in fact are the real danger? Do you think heâll choose you over his boys?âÂ
You let out a shaky breath as he neared, the flames following him.Â
âCome with me Y/n, letâs go to Tartarus, to our family. To those who will truly love and accept you.â You could smell the fire as he stood inches away from you. âAll these part-mortals will die one day, will leave you behind, but we wonât. Weâll always be there for you.â
âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âMonsters are immortal too Y/n, we never die.â He smiled as the flames encircled you fully and strangely, you could feel the warmth of it. âKilling a monster simply means weakening us and sending us back to Tartarus, our realm. Itâs only a matter of time before we gain our strength and come back to the human world. You can never truly kill a monster.â
A family forever. A home forever. Thatâs what he was offering you. What you had been looking for your whole life.Â
âSo come with me Y/n.â He held his hand out. âCome where you truly belong-â
âY/n!âÂ
You turned at the sound of a frantic voice, spotting Seungcheol far away, between the trees, looking at you terrified. Thunder clapped across the sky as he ran towards you.
âGet away from him, heâs dangerous-âÂ
âYes, when all Iâve done is have a conversation.â The man before you rolled his eyes, extending his hand further. âThis is what these demigods do, villainize us for no reason.â
At the loud sound of Seungcheol falling you turned around worried, âCheol careful-â
âListen to me Y/n.â Your father drew your attention as Seungcheol got up, making his way towards you again. âTheyâll do the same to you, theyâll label you a monster either ways, so come with me and we can go home now.âÂ
âY/n step back-â
âY/n come with me-â
âY/n please don't-â
âY/n please-â
You shut your eyes, unable to process both their voices, unable to make a choice. The fire around you intensified, burning with a darker orange - flames streamed out of your hands, joining the already raging fire, towering over the two of you. Panicking you tried to stop them but they just wouldn't - it was like that fateful night all over again. You couldn't control it.Â
The Chimaera's eyes gleamed victoriously as he watched your fire burn around him. He looked astounded, like he was enthralled by it.Â
âYou're brilliant Y/n, you're simply brilliant. They don't deserve you-âÂ
âY/n can you hear me?â You couldn't see him but his silhouette told you that Seungcheol had neared. âDon't worry, I'll save you, I got you-âÂ
âShe doesn't need you.â Your father snarled, waving his hand, and the fire followed, striking Seungcheol right in his chest, the sheer force sending him hurling back.Â
âNo!â You screamed, rushing towards him when the Chimaera's hand wrapped around your wrist holding you back.Â
âY/n we need to go-âÂ
âNo.â You muttered, voice shaking. âNo, Cheol, noâŠ.â
âIt doesn't matter, he doesn't matter, let him die. If we don't get out of your fire, it willâŠ..âÂ
You can't really hear what he's saying anymore. Let him die.Â
You would never let someone die. You didn't let that child die, you won't let Seungcheol die, you weren't one of the monsters. You just weren't.Â
Freeing your hand from his with a jerk, you pushed him back, sending the tall man stumbling behind.Â
âHow could you?â You shook your head. âHow could you think I'd join you?â
âI hoped it wouldnât come to this.â He cracked his neck, straightening up. âIf you're not going to come on your own, then I'll drag you to hell by myself.âÂ
Your throat dried as you watched his face morph, his limbs changing into an animal's, the gruesome image of him you had seen in the scrolls coming to life before you - part lion, part goat, part snake. It made your soul tremble.Â
âNo.â Lower lip quivering, you stepped back. âYou're going to hell alone.âÂ
And you're not really sure what overcame you or how you knew what to do but suddenly the fire around you roared to life, streaks of the flames charging towards the monster, wrapping it in its grip. You watched as its expression went from amusement to disbelief to pure fear and ended with a mocking smile on its face. When the fire fully engulfed him, it exploded, leaving behind only black ash, fluttering in the wind.Â
You stumbled, losing your footing, feeling suddenly drained as you fell to your knees, vision blurring. Pain seared through your head, immaculate pain that you had never felt before but somehow it wasn't worse than the one in your chest. The one you felt as you looked at Seungcheol lying on the forest floor in a pool of blood. Getting it together you quickly got up and rushed to him, pulling him into your lap, calling out to him.Â
âCheol, can you hear me?â Tears stung your eyes. âPlease please please be okay.âÂ
He wasn't okay. The impact of the Chimaera's attack sent him straight into the trunk of the tree, his back and his head was severely wounded but the most noticeable thing was the large burn mark right in the middle of his chest.Â
âHelp.â You whispered, looking around even though you knew it was pointless. There was no one around. âPlease help.âÂ
But the only response you got is the sound of hooves, galloping across the forest floor. Unsure, you pulled Seungcheol closer to you, looking out into the fog between the trees. Whoever it was, whatever it was, if it meant any more harm to Seungcheol you'll fight it. You'll die fighting it but you'll save this man.Â
But that wasn't necessary.Â
As the sound neared, a familiar looking winged horse jumped out of the mist, neighing at the sight of you.Â
Pegasus. Seokmin's horse.Â
Finally, finally allowing yourself to breathe, you shut your eyes in relief. Maybe Seungcheol could be saved after all.Â
Everything that happened from the moment you came to camp was still a blur.Â
The minute Pegasus entered the grounds, all the members rushed towards the two of you, faces filled with terror. Some members carried Seungcheol towards the Great Hall. Someone had wrapped a blanket around your shoulders, someone else handed you some strange concoction and told you to drink up. It was all a flurry of motion as everyone made their way to the infirmary, a hall you hadn't seen before, putting Seungcheol down on the bed as Jihoon grabbed a pair of scissors and cut his shirt open. You nearly threw up.
The wound was so much worse than you had thought, red and angry on his skin. The members scurried around, grabbing the different things Jihoon was ordering them to get as you stood in between it all, frozen. It was only when Jihoon smeared a green paste all over Seungcheol's chest and the latter screamed in agony that you snapped out of the trance. He was in so much pain-
âY/n!â Minghao shook your shoulders, making you turn to him. âI'm asking you something.âÂ
âWâŠ.what?âÂ
âHow did this happen?â His gaze was piercing. âDid you guys find the Chimaera?â
Slowly, you nodded.
âAnd Seungcheol fought it?â He looked stunned. âWhy aren't either of you in your gear, what the hell happened-âÂ
âMinghao.â Jeonghan's voice echoed through the room like the crack of a whip. âEnough.â
âBut we need to know-âÂ
âNo, we don't.â He neared you, pulling you away from Minghaoâs grip. âNot right now. She's hurt too.â
You glanced down at your legs, noticing the gashes and wounds all over. You didn't even realise. And why would you? This pain was nothing before what Seungcheol was going through.Â
âFuck, Y/n.â Jun stepped up and quickly sat you on the neighbouring bed, reaching for the iodine and cotton, cleaning you up. From the corner of your eye, you saw Jeonghan turn to Joshua.Â
âTake her away from here.â He instructed. âDon't let her step foot in the infirmary till Cheol is fine.âÂ
You opened your mouth in disbelief. You wanted to argue, you wanted to protest but you couldn't bring yourself to. Not with the way your head was spinning. Minghao's worried face was the last thing you saw before the darkness consumed you.Â
â
When you opened your eyes, all you could see was the white of the ceiling.Â
You glanced at the camp outside the window. It was submerged in the black of the night, only the usual scattered torches burning around. You looked away - the sight of fire was unbearable.
Groaning you sat up, body sore all over, as you kicked the covers off. The wounds seemed to have fully disappeared, you're guessing courtesy of Jihoon's herbal ointment but the pain in your chest was ever present.Â
Limping out of the room, you glanced around, wondering where you were. The abnormal amount of mirrors gave you your answer - House of Aphrodite, Joshua's residence. You walked around, catching sight of the silhouettes of the furniture - you always assumed Joshua would have the prettiest house of them all and that seemed true. At least from the little you could see in the moonlight streaming in.Â
The soft snores of the residence owner were what pulled you towards his bedroom. You meant to glance, to see if he was properly asleep and sneak out but the sound of your feet awakened him.Â
âY/nâŠâ He called out to you groggily, raising himself on his elbows. âWhy aren't you asleep?âÂ
How could you sleep with Seungcheol lying in the infirmary like that? When you didn't have a clue how he was doing?
Joshua read your mind.Â
âCheol is fine.â He mumbled, clearing his throat. âHe's better.â
âI want to see him-âÂ
âI know.â He sighed. âBut Jihoon has strictly asked no one to go to the infirmary. He doesn't want to he disturbed.â
âWillâŠ.â You gulped, stepping onto his room. âWill he be okay?âÂ
âHe will. He has to. For all of us.âÂ
âYeah.â You whispered, looking around with a sigh. âI don't know what to do. I won't be able to do anything till he's fine-â
âCome here.â Joshua beckoned you, scooting over in his bed, making space for you. You blinked at him confused. âCome Y/n.â
Letting out a deep breath, you complied, slipping under his covers.Â
âLook up.âÂ
And you did, eyes meeting the fascinating sight of the sky, stars blinking behind the dark clouds, the moonlight scattered between them. It looked so calming.Â
âDidn't you say you liked camping with your father when you were a child?â
You had told him that. A few days after you came to camp, given Joshua was your only confidant, you had told him about the earliest memory you had. It was when you were around 6 years old, on one of the rare days your father was particularly happy, insisting that the two of you drive to the edge of the city and set up a little tent. Of course he was silly to choose a really windy day to camp and also more than incapable of setting up a tent so you simply watched as it flew away and burst out laughing. That night your father rolled out two sleeping bags side by side as the two of you talked about the stars while the campfire burnt away.Â
Somehow now, it made sense why the flames didn't extinguish in the wind. It was you. Your power over fire, a power you got from your real father, not the man who's love, attention and validation you craves for twenty five years of your life. That man wasn't your father.Â
Joshua turned at the sound of you letting out a deep breath, finding your eyes shut tight. You didn't want to see the stars anymore.Â
âY/n,â He turned towards you. âAre you okay?âÂ
âI'm fine.â You mumbled. âI should probably sleepâŠ.âÂ
The lack of response told you that Joshua didn't believe you. You turned to glance at him, noticing his worried expression.
âOkay, I'm not fine,â You confessed. âBut I will be.âÂ
âAnd I will be there for you.â He reassured, taking your hand. Sighing softly you scooted closer to him, burying your face at the crook of his neck as his arms wrapped around you.Â
âThank you Shua.â You whispered. âThank you.âÂ
But before you could hear what he had to say in return, you drifted away, falling asleep.
Although you couldn't ever bring yourself to wake up for training at the crack of dawn, you somehow found yourself wide awake today. Joshua hadn't moved an inch in his sleep, still holding on to you. As much as you found his arms warm and welcoming, you had to go see Seungcheol. You had to see if he was fine.
Slowly slipping out of his embrace, you slid out of Joshua's bed, glancing at him one last time before grabbing his jacket and silently stepping out.Â
The morning dew had made the grass all wet and squelchy, your footsteps very apparent in the silence but thankfully there was no one in an audible radius. The flames of the torch continued to burn low which meant training hadn't started yet, or maybe there was none today, you didn't know. Quickening your pace you walked over to the Great Hall, locating the infirmary beside it.Â
Through the window you glanced in the dimness, recognising the silhouette of Seungcheol asleep on the bed and another someone sitting on the couch beside him, his head rolled back and mouth slightly parted in his sleep - Jeonghan.Â
You wanted to step in, to sit beside Seungcheol, to see how he was but somehow you couldn't move, not with all that weight in your chest.Â
âYou shouldn't be here.âÂ
You covered your mouth, preventing the shriek from leaving your being as you turned, spotting Jihoon behind you, a tray of herbs in his hand. âJeonghan was very clear about not allowing you to go near Seungcheol.â
âAnd since when does Jeonghan tell everyone what to do?âÂ
âHe's interim leader.â Jihoon sighed. âIn the absence of Cheol, his word is the rule.â
âIt's not like Cheol's gone.â You rolled your eyes but when they fell on Jihoon's grim expression you gulped. âJoshua said he was better.âÂ
âBetter than before, yes.â Jihoon agreed. âI've fixed his bruises and mended his bones and everything else is healing butâŠâÂ
âBut?âÂ
âThat burn on his chest.â He sighed. âI don't know how to fix it.â
âY-you can't fix the burn?âÂ
He shook his head. âCertain things cause damage beyond repair. Zeusâs lightning, Ares's sword, Chimaera's fire, these are nearly impossible to heal from.â
âNearly? That means there's some way.âÂ
âThere is.â He nodded slowly. âThe Chimaera hasn't been heard of in ages so most healers don't bother to learn the remedies for his fire but luckily I did.âÂ
âSo you can fix him.â You looked at the man before you, eyes shimmering with hope.Â
But Jihoon shook his head. âI would've been able to if that was the Chimaera's fire, butâŠ.. it's not.âÂ
It felt like the ground had been pulled from under you.Â
âEvery fire is different, every fire has its own pattern, its own signature. One can tell by the burn, who's fire caused the injury and Seungcheolâs wound is not from the Chimaera's fire. Itâs someone else's.âÂ
You took a few stumbling steps back, sweat running down your neck.Â
You.Â
Your fire.Â
It was your fire which hurt Seungcheol.
This was all your fault.Â
Jihoon frowned. âY/n, do you know anything about-â
âIâm sorry.â You whispered, taking a step back. âIâm sorry, I have to go.â
With that you left behind a baffled Jihoon, turning on your heel and running out of the Great Hall, straight into the forest.Â
And for a long time, you didn't stop running.Â
By the time you returned to camp, it was nearly noon.Â
You could tell that the members had been looking for you because the moment you stepped into the dining hall, Soonyoung nearly knocked you over with a bone crushing hug.Â
âFuck, Y/n, where have you been?â He held you tighter. âWe were worried sick.âÂ
âSomeone call Hansol and his hounds back.â Minghao spoke from across the room. âTell him she's here and she's fine.âÂ
Seungkwan muttered that he would do so before shooting you a concerned look, and leaving the hall. Joshua stepped up as Soonyoung finally let you go.Â
âI was worried when I woke up and you weren't there.âÂ
âIs that where you're crashing now?â Mingyu wrapped his arm around your shoulder. âDon't worry, not for long, your new residence is coming along really well, it should be ready in a few days.âÂ
You scoffed inwardly. What was the point?
âThanks.â You muttered as Chan walked up to you with a glass of water in his hands, looking down pointedly.Â
âYour feet are injured again.âÂ
âI went for a run.â You confessed. âHad to clear my mind.âÂ
âAre you that used to punishment rounds first thing in the morning?â Seokmin chuckled. âI'm going to have to find a different punishment for you if you're enjoying it.âÂ
A small smile grew on your face as the boys began to argue, talking one over the other. From across the room Wonwoo, who was the only one who hadn't approached you, looked at you expressionlessly, his eyes hooded. Gulping you turned away, just in time for Jun to drag you to the table, putting down a plate of food, insisting you eat. The rest of the boys too scattered around, grabbing their own plates, serving themselves, settling in one by one. At the same time, Seungkwan walked in with a tired, dirt clad and unamused Hansol.Â
âDon't ever do that again.â Hansol, who hadn't spoken a word to you all these days, mumbled, walking in.Â
âDon't worry.â You took a bite of Jun's delicious bibimbap, mind at undeniable peace now that you had made a decision. âI won't trouble anyone anymore.âÂ
You spent the rest of the day in the Great Hall with the boys. You had asked for their company, mumbling under your breath and without asking why, they complied immediately. Of course Seungcheol, Jeonghan and Jihoon were still in the infirmary but the rest of the boys were scattered around the hall all day.Â
At most times it was quiet, everyone doing their own thing in the silence. Some of them were reading, some were working, Minghao was cleaning his weapons, Jun and Mingyu were consistently cooking, Wonwoo was just looking out of the window.Â
It was only after dinner that everyone finally dispersed, retreating to their cabins. Joshua offered his residence for you to crash again and you agreed, stating you needed to grab your clothes, shower and you'll be there. Nodding he left with the rest, as you made your way to Seungcheol's house.Â
For the longest time, this place had been your safe haven but stepping into the empty space today only further broke your heart. You had made the right choice.Â
Heading to your room, you grabbed a duffel bag and stuffed some of your essentials - clothes, laptop, books etc. Throwing on a hoodie, you gave your room one last longing look before closing the door behind you. It was only as you stepped out of the large entrance that you felt the soft fur caressing your leg.Â
Natalie.
Bending down, you rubbed her fondly as she looked up at you with her big cute eyes.Â
âI'm going Nat.â You softly muttered, âAs much as I hoped, I don't belong here. I've done nothing but be a menace, attract trouble and worse, put lives in danger. I can't do that to these boys anymore, I just can'tâŠ.you understand that right?Â
She looked at you like she did.
âI would bring you along, but you're a creature of Olympus, of the heavens and I,â You let out a shaky breath. âI'm on my way to hell.âÂ
Dropping a small kiss on its crown, you smiled at it sadly.
âYou'll be happy here, there's Junâs farm, you can follow Wonwoo all day, you can play with Daisy and the hounds too. You'll be fine without me.â
She whined, louder than usual and it hurt but you knew this was for the best. You had to go and you had to go alone.Â
Throwing your duffel bag over your shoulder, you set out towards the camp entrance, ready to leave it all behind, ready to go. You had people here who loved you, people who were annoyed with you, people who were sick of you, peepple who ignored you, but no one hated you, not yet at least. And you wanted to leave before that happened. Because you were sure if they found out it was you who injured Seungcheol, they wouldn't forgive you.Â
Taking a deep resolved breath, you took a step forward - it was time to head to hell.Â
But before you could take another step, the voice of hell itself stopped you.Â
âGoing already?â
You turned at the sound of his voice, looking around, chills running down your spine when you didn't spot anyone.Â
âI did say you'd look for the first chance to go but I didn't think it would be so soon.âÂ
You turned again, spotting him right by the last torch of the path, the glow of the torch illuminating his sharp features. He most definitely wasn't there a second ago.Â
âWonwoo.âÂ
âY/n.â He stepped forward. âAs the Son of Underworld, I'm here to give you a quick briefing before you decide to make hell your new home - it's very hot and very, very stuffy.âÂ
Eyes widening, you stuttered. âH-how did you know that I wasâŠthat I wanted to-âÂ
âDo something utterly stupid?â He raised his eyebrow.Â
And suddenly, he vanished. Straight into thin air. One second you were looking at him and the next, he was gone. And just like that, he appeared again, like he never left.Â
Oh.
Of course.
Wonwoo, Son of Hades, had the power of invisibility. Of course he knew - he was always watching.Â
Your mind raced back to every instance you had been alone - the library doors randomly opening, the crackling sound of the fallen leaves near the campfire, as though someone was walking, the strange feeling of someone constantly watching. It was all him and that meant there was a lot he saw and a lot more he knew.Â
âIf things take a turn and you're forced to face it, do whatever it takes to fight it. Don't think, don't analyse, just do it.âÂ
Wonwoo knew about your fire.
âWhy didn't you tell me you knew?â You looked at him, tone unnecessarily accusatory. âWhy didn't you say anything?âÂ
âThis was yours to tell.â He shrugged. âI happened to find out by chance.âÂ
âYou mean by stalking.â You spoke between gritted teeth. âYou had no right to-â
âI didn't mean to.â He emphasized again.âI wasn't aware you knew your powers or that you were hiding them.â
âDoes anyone else know?âÂ
Wonwoo shook his head. âI told you, it's not mine to tell.â
Sighing, you relaxed your shoulders. Although you were glad that no one else knew, somehow Wonwoo knowing felt like a relief.Â
âWhy not though?â You glanced at him curiously. âWhy would you keep someone as dangerous as me on camp?â
âYou're not dangerous Y/n, just different.âÂ
âJust? WonwooâŠ.â You took a deep shaky breath. âIt was my fire that injured Seungcheol.âÂ
For a second, he was quiet. âHow?âÂ
âIt was an accident-â You mumbled, scared. âI didn't know the Chimaera would be able to use it like that-âÂ
âSo that makes the monster dangerous.â He justified. âYou're untrained, that's all.âÂ
That's all?Â
âIt's not that simple.â You threw your hands in the air. âYou have no idea-âÂ
âNo I don't.â He interjected. âNo one does because there's never been a demigod like you but that doesn't make you worthy of going to hell.âÂ
âYou think I'm going to hell to punish myself?â You raised an eyebrow. âWonwoo, I belong there, perhaps more than you do.âÂ
For the first time you saw an expression on his face, one of confusion.Â
âThe Chimaera wasn't hunting me Wonwoo, it was trying to bring me home.â Shutting your eyes, you let out a breath. âThe Chimaera is my father.â.
You expected the man before you to look shocked or at least a little scared but his expression turned impassive again.Â
âSo?â Wonwoo crossed his arms. âHades is my father.â
âIt's not the same-â
âBut it is.â Wonwoo exhaled. âMy father isn't an Olympian Y/n, he's not one of those gods, he's not worshiped like the rest. Children of Hades do not live on camps, yet here I am.â
Oh.Â
You had no idea.Â
âIt doesn't matter what your parentage is, the problem is you don't consider this place as home, you don't consider these people as yours-âÂ
âThat's not true-â
âIf it wasn't, then instead of running away you'd have been in the infirmary, telling Jihoon about your fire.â He snapped. âSo he can figure out how to heal Seungcheol.âÂ
You blinked at him at a loss of words.Â
âI didn't thinkâŠ.âÂ
âThat's the problem Y/n, you don't think.â Wonwoo looked away, sighing. âYou do the first thing that comes to your mind, regardless of the consequences.âÂ
He was right. You always were impulsive but this time you were also wrong. You should've thought of Seungcheol first, everything else be damned.Â
âIf I tell Jihoon aboutâŠ.me, can he save Cheol?âÂ
âIf he studies your fire, he might be able to figure out how-âÂ
âLet's go to the infirmary.â You interrupted him, determined. Even if saving Seungcheol meant exposing yourself, you'd do it. You'd do anything.Â
But your feet stood rooted to the ground, like the fear of truth coming out hadn't left your being.
âC-can you come with meâŠâ You looked at the man before you. âPlease?âÂ
For the first time as you walked, Wonwoo followed, staying by your side.Â
âY/n.â Jihoon looked at you as you stepped into the infirmary. âYou shouldn't be hereâŠâ
Behind him Jeonghan, who was sitting on the edge of Seungcheolâs bed, stood up.Â
âI know but-âÂ
âPlease.â Jihoon whispered urgently. âYou don't want to mess with Jeonghan now. Not with Cheol not getting any better-âÂ
âShe's here to help.â Wonwoo spoke from behind, leaning against the entrance. âAt least listen to her first.âÂ
âGo on.â Jeonghan spoke from behind, stepping up. âWhat is it?â
âYou said it was someone elseâs fire that hurt Cheol right?â
Jihoon frowned. âYeah, do you know who?âÂ
Stretching your hand out, you held it before him. His eyes flickered between you and your empty hand, expression utterly confused. Taking a deep breath, you stared at your palm and like always, flames suddenly burned to life in your hand. Gasping, Jihoon took a terrified step back, eyes widened.Â
âYou⊠you canâŠâ
âI can.â You finally admitted, even to yourself. âI can make fire.âÂ
âHow is that possibleâŠ.â Jihoon stared at your hand lost in thought.Â
Your eyes though, drifted towards Jeonghan who looked unaffected. No shock, no surprise, no fear. Like he already knew. Like he always knew.Â
You looked over your shoulder at Wonwoo. âYou told him? You said you didn't-âÂ
âHow pathetic do you deem my intellect Y/n?â Jeonghan rolled his eyes. âHe didn't have to say anything, it was obvious.âÂ
âWhat do you mean obvious?â You lowered your hand, the flames dying out.Â
âYour lawsuit.â He cocked his head. âWe claimed the fire was an accident, like you had said but the defense argued that there was no way the fire could have spread so fast unless it was pre planned. At that point, I suspected you might be a fire bender. Of course, most fire benders are the children of Hephaestus but there weren't many Hestia children to rule out the possibility but when the house was examined, there was no identifiable source of the fire. Which meant it started out of thin air, that meant you weren't just a fire bender, you were making it too. Given your history of having an untraceable aura, I thought something was not aligning - something was different about you.âÂ
You gulped, unsure about verifying his theory. From the corner of your eye, you caught Wonwoo nodding at you encouragingly.Â
âI am different.â Your eyes flickered between the men before you. âAt the Nyx forest, the Chimaera spoke to me. He told me I was his daughter.â
A thick silence descended upon the room. So quiet you could practically hear your heartbeat. Yet again Jihoon looked stunned while Jeonghan looked like the cogwheels in his brain were spinning at full speed.Â
âI've never heard about a half god, half monster.â You winced at the term as Jihoon looked far off, lost in thought. âI'm not sure what that would even look like-âÂ
âMe.â You sighed. âIt would look like me.â
âWhat else?â Jeonghan chimed in. âWhat else did the Chimaera say?âÂ
âN-nothing much, he just kept insisting that I go with him to Tartarus, that it's where I belong-â
âYou belong here.â Jeonghan interjected, features molding into slight anger. âWhatever it claims the other half of you is, you are half god. You were identified by the oracle, you pledged to be a part of camp seventeen and we swore to protect you as one of us so if there's anywhere you are meant to be, it's here.âÂ
Tears pricked your eyes hearing the conviction in his voice. Never before had someone been so insistent that you belonged.Â
âI will look into what the Chimaera said means for you being part of the camp but nothing will change the fact that you are one of us.â
Beside him Jihoon nodded. You didn't see but behind you, Wonwoo nodded too.
âJeonghan IâŠâ You balled your hands into fists. You had thought a lot before making this choice. You knew it was the right one. âI appreciate you saying that but I just want to help Cheol however I can. Once heâs better, I will be heading to Tartarus.âÂ
âWhy?â Jihoon looked at you questioningly. âWhy would you choose to go there?âÂ
âBecauseâŠ.â You felt your voice get stuck in your throat. âBecause IâŠâ
âYou think youâre meant to be there but youâre not.â Jeonghan crossed his arms. âY/n, whether we turn out to be good or bad, it's a choice. It's always our choice. Whether you choose to go or choose to stay I want you to know that camp seventeen chose you, we always will. It's up to you to choose us.âÂ
âIâŠ.âÂ
âYou don't have to decide now.â Jeonghan shook his head. âLet Jihoon study your fire first. Let us save Cheol. Once he comes around, you can tell us your decision. Whatever it is, we'll all accept it.âÂ
Staring at the ground, you nodded. Seungcheol first, everything else came later.Â
The next few days passed a lot slower than usual.Â
Under Jeonghan's instructions, all camp training had been suspended indefinitely. While some members were added to the shift roster to increase the security of the camp, others were sent out with missions to procure the ingredients Jihoon asked for. Apparently some of them were so rare, members wouldn't return home for days but no one ever complained. Everyone silently followed orders and did what they were instructed to do.Â
You, on the other hand, had nothing to do. Jeonghan simply told you to be available as and when Jihoon required you. Apollo's son had been spending all his time nose deep in books and ancient texts, scribbling away and brewing all kinds of potions and concoctions. Whenever any of his remedies didn't work, he'd call for you and ask to see your fire again. Sometimes he told you to burn something, sometimes he told you to just hold the flame as long as you could. Sometimes he just wanted you to sit by him. Maybe he didn't like to be as alone as he came across.
On the other side of the room, Jeonghan didn't leave Seungcheol even for a second. All day and all night, he sat on that couch, right next to him - he ate there, he slept there, he went through his case files there, he was eternally glued to his friends side. Somewhere deep down, you felt a little jealous. You'd never seen friendship like theirs and you didn't know if you could ever have something like that in your life.Â
But sometimes, a part of you said maybe you could.Â
When you weren't required in the infirmary and were tired of breathing the camp air, you'd set off, going deeper into the woods, finding a log and sitting all by yourself. But you were never alone. The rustling sound of the leaves or the soft sounds of breath in the pin drop silence told you you weren't alone, he was always there.Â
Wonwoo.Â
You couldn't see him but you knew he was around, watching over you and somehow it didn't feel intrusive - There was a solace his presence offered that you couldn't explain. It was funny though, how you went from being completely ignored by him to being constantly looked after - in hindsight maybe he always cared for you.Â
Clearly they all cared for you. Although Mingyu, Chan and Soonyoung were the ones who were sent away to missions, the first thing they did after enquiring about Cheol was come looking for you - they wanted to make sure you were fine too. Jun and Minghao always made sure you ate, Seokmin, Hansol and Seungkwan had taken over with the building of your house and Joshua was your constant companion all night - after every long, tiring and unsuccessful day, it was in his arms that you found yourself dozing off. Although the rest of the members did not know about your parentage yet, again thanks to Jeonghan's instructions, a part of you now felt that they would accept you, regardless of what your father claimed.Â
But the big question was, what was the right choice? With you in camp, was it safe? Sure you had managed to send your father back to Tartarus but it was only a matter of time before he got stronger and came looking for you again. He had already sent his minions once and clearly he didn't care about any collateral damage. You were still very much a threat to everyone, you'd always be one. Maybe, after Cheol regained consciousness, it was best you left.Â
You told yourself you'd leave but one look at the way the boys bickered and laughed around the dining hall and you'd find your resolve wavering. You didn't want to leave them, you didn't want to go. But the gnawing feeling of what might happen to them in your company always brought you back to square one - it was a never ending loop of indecision.Â
And it was that loop that was going on in your mind as you watched Jeonghan flipping through the multiple files he had laid out on the bed beside Seungcheolâs.Â
âLook, the case appears simple but it isn't so straightforward,â Jeonghan looked up, tucking the pencil over his ear. The two of you were finally going over the details of the lawsuit. âThe Parks, the family that is suing you, is doing so for two reasons - damage of personal property and attempting to harm their son.â
You glanced at the papers he was looking at.
âThat's where it becomes interesting. Even though you caused considerable trouble and more importantly, endangered their child, they aren't trying to get you prosecuted as a criminal,â Jeonghan's eyes gleamed. âThey filed a civil lawsuit.âÂ
âYes, they want me to compensate them monetarily. â Â
âThink about it, if you had a child-â You didn't want to think about that at all actually. â-and if someone tried to hurt her or him, what would be your response? Asking for money or asking for justice?âÂ
âI would've gone berserk.â You muttered. âI'd want them punished.â
âPrecisely, instead, they're trying to get money out of a broke architecture student.â Jeonghan pointed out. âDoesn't make sense right?âÂ
You shook your head.Â
âUsually in cases of property damage, most people seek insurance payouts but the Parks didn't and this is why.â He pushed a paper towards you. âWonwoo managed to get his hands on the police report-â
âHow?â
âThe man does some secret government job, he's got his hands everywhere.âÂ
âHuh.â You looked around, wondering if he was listening.Â
âHe's not here.â Jeonghan brushed off, pointing at the paper again. âThe point is, the police report mentions two things of major importance - One, they have no idea how the fire even started. Two, the Parks household did not implement any fire safety measures in their residence.âÂ
âSoâŠ. they're not eligible for an insurance payout, right?âÂ
Jeonghan nodded. âThat is why they are pressing civil charges against you, so they can get the money from you, by labelling you as an arsonist.â
âBut I am an arsonist.âÂ
Jeonghan sighed. âOkay you are, but they don't have any proof and that's what our argument will focus on. We will first insist that the police identify the source of fire and then we will add that you had no motive. You didn't know the family before all this, you had no personal connections, and you had no motive to harm.âÂ
âBut the childâŠ.â You thought about that night again. âJeonghan, he saw me start the fire.âÂ
âHe won't remember.â Jeonghan sat back down on his chair. âThe Demigod Union took care of that.âÂ
âThe what?âÂ
âThere's a body in every city that handles all demigod related issues called the Demigod Union. Luckily Mingyu was one of the firefighters at the scene so when he sensed the high levels of Aura, he alerted the DU. The senior members gave the child a memory potion while he was hospitalized and it replaced his memories - he only remembers sleeping and waking up to a room full of fire.âÂ
âIf that's the case, he couldnât have told the Parks anything so why would they think I was trying to harm their child?âÂ
âSympathy.â Jeonghan stated like it was obvious. âThey're trying to sway the jury by showing their five year old child as a victim. Hence we need to be careful and make the right moves, then we should be able to win this case.âÂ
You nodded, leaning back against your chair. One battle hadn't even ended and another had begun. You glanced at Jeonghan who seemed lost in his stack of papers again. There was scribbles everywhere, notes in the margins, yellow highlights marking points. Evidently he had done all his research thoroughly.Â
âWhen did you even do all this?âÂ
âI take my job seriously.â He muttered without looking up.Â
âEven the pro bono ones?â
âA case is a case.â He shrugged. âBesides, you are one of us.âÂ
There he was, hitting you with words that was only making choosing harder.Â
You looked at the sleeping Seungcheol. His chest rose and fell with every breath he took, the bandages covering his wound, moving with it. A few days ago you wondered if you would ever get to see him again, but here you were today, right by his side.
âWhen you saw Seungcheol, did you know it was my fire that hurt him?â
Jeonghan shook his head. âNot at first, but when Jihoon said the fire didnât seem like the Chimaeraâs, I suspected it might have been yours.â
âIf you didn't know, then why did you send me away that day?â
âBecause you were untrained and emotional.â He turned to you. âIt takes a lot of training for demigods to gain control over their powers. Extreme emotion, be it happiness, sadness, angerâŠ. They tend to make you unstable. I knew you were upset about Cheol so I didnât want his condition to make you feel worse.â
âSo you sent me away forâŠ.me?âÂ
âFor everyoneâs safety.â He corrected.Â
âBut when you realised it was my fault, why didnât you tell Jihoon?â You looked at him curiously. âWhy didnât you confront me?â
Jeonghan sat on the couch, looking far off, growing silent.
âJeonghanâŠ?â
âI asked Jihoon to mention the unknown fire if you came asking for updates. I also asked Wonwoo to stop you from leaving.â He glanced at you from the corner of his eye. âI wanted to know what you would choose to do.âÂ
âYou were testing me?â You raised an eyebrow. âWhat if I ran away? What if Wonwoo couldn't stop me?âÂ
âThen I would have hunted you down no matter where on Earth you were and⊠â He sighed. âAnd would have begged you to help me. Begged you to save him.â
You blinked at him, just a little stunned. âHe really is important to you, isnât he?âÂ
Jeonghan nodded. âHe saved my life in more ways than one, you wonât understand. No one does.âÂ
âJeonghan Iâm⊠Iâm sorry I didnât tell you sooner-â
âI donât blame you for your choices.â He sighed. âSo I hope you won't hold mine against me.âÂ
âIâŠâ You gulped, not quite sure if he was still talking about prioritising saving his friend over keeping your secret. âI don't mind that you chose him over me.âÂ
Jeonghan stared at you for just a little longer than usual before he nodded and turned away. âI need my afternoon nap.â
And with that, he turned away, snuggling into the couch and shutting his eyes. Within a few seconds, the soft sounds of his deep breaths filled the room.Â
The conversation was over.Â
Seungcheol wasn't getting any better.Â
Though tension was palpable in the whole camp, perhaps the members chose to look at the bright side - he wasn't getting worse.Â
Then the day came when Jihoon said he had exhausted all options, that he didn't know what to try anymore. Everyone had just about given up hope when he called for you one more time -Â
âWhat colour is your fire when you're in pain?âÂ
You had no idea.
You spent half an hour after that trying your best to remember, and when nothing could jog your memory, you curled your fingers into a fist and slammed the glass pane of the nearby window, blood furiously trickling down your knuckles. When Jeonghan took a worried step forward, you raised your injured hand to stop him before it spontaneously burst into flamesâŠ.Blue ones.Â
Jihoon scribbled a quick note of it before tending to your wound, removing each glass piece embedded in your skin slowly. As you winced, he handed you a potion that he claimed would help with the pain and you gulped it down quickly remembering how bitter it tasted last time. Surprisingly, you noticed it wasn't too bad, nor was it the same colour as before. Though you didn't notice that Jihoon had visibly frozen, like a realisation had dawned upon him.Â
The moment he was done dressing your wound he got to work, preparing what he called his final remedy. He said if this didn't work, then nothing could wake Seungcheol up anymore.Â
That night, the whole camp waited with bated breath. You were lying on Joshua's bed with your back pressed against his chest and his arms around you but neither of you were asleep. Sleep was unimaginable now. Everyone just wanted to hear the news. And at around 8am in the morning, just as everyone was headed towards the dining hall, it came.
Zephyr, who hadn't stopped patrolling the skies all these days, suddenly flew down, over the heads of the strolling members, a gust of wind left behind in its wake as it made its way towards the infirmary.Â
There was only one thing that could make it do that.Â
Seungcheol's call.Â
He was awake.
Cheering, all the boys rushed towards the Great Hall, running as fast as they could. You felt your knees buckle and hit the ground as you held your chest in relief.
He was fine.
Seungcheol was fine.Â
.
.
.
That meant it was time to go.Â
âYour name was the first thing he took.â Joshua spoke from behind you as you shoved a spoon of cereal in your mouth, sitting at the dining table. âHe's been awake for days, why won't you go see him Y/n?âÂ
It had been nearly a week since Seungcheol gained consciousness in the infirmary. Since then, the dining hall had been unsurprisingly empty - all the members began to camp at the infirmary first then at his house where he was moved after a few days. You hadn't visited him in either place.Â
âI will.â You munched slowly. âI'm just waiting for him to get better.âÂ
âHe is better.âÂ
âBut not as good as before, right?âÂ
âIt's a matter of time.â Joshua slid onto the bench, sitting beside you. âJihoon said he'll be walking in a day or two.âÂ
You nodded, humming. âThat's good.â
âHey.â Hand below your chin, Joshua turned your face towards him. âWhat's wrong, love? You were so worried all these days and nowâŠ.â
âI don't know.â You whispered, voicing your fear. âI don't know how to face him. I don't know what he'll think of me when he learns it's all my fault-â
âIf you don't know, then ask him.âÂ
Every cell in your body froze at the familiar voice you hadn't heard in a long time.
Seungcheol.Â
âChief.â Joshua quickly got up and bowed. âYou'reâŠ.are you okay?â
Seungcheol didn't answer, so you figured he nodded. As you heard his footsteps near, you turned, shutting your eyes and bowing, not looking at him.Â
âShua, ask Chan to start the car. Y/n and I have to go somewhere.âÂ
Taken aback, you looked up but Seungcheol had walked out already, Joshua following behind, throwing you an apologetic look.Â
Did he know? Had he decided to drop you to Tartarus by himself?Â
You had meant to leave the day Seungcheol opened his eyes. You had even packed all your things again but the boys claimed he wasnât entirely fine yet. So you told yourself youâll leave the next day and then the next and then the next and now here you were, with him finally well enough.Â
You didn't know what to do, at least until the sound of Chan's taxi horn resounded in the camp - then you quickly put your bowl in the sink and rushed out. When you reached the car, Seungcheol was already sitting in the passenger seat while surprisingly Seungkwan sat at the back, scooting over to make space for you. No sooner than you got in Seungcheol instructed Chan to go and he did, setting off into the forest at full speed.Â
The whole of the ride you looked down at the hands on your lap, fingers fiddling with each other nervously. When you began to pick at the skin beside your nails, Seungkwan's hand wrapped around yours, stopping you. You were grateful for that, especially with lightning consistently flashing across the sky, his hand over yours was a comforting weight. But he didn't need to hold on for long, not with the car stopping before a very familiar landmark tree. Getting out of the car, Seungcheol opened the door on your side, instructing both of you to get out and Seungkwan to go sit in front. Puzzled, the two of you complied and Seungcheol went over to Chan,Â
âBoth of you head back to camp.âÂ
Chan looked confused. âBut what about you and Y/n?â
âMy range rover is still here. I'll bring it back.â He stepped back. âYou two should leave.âÂ
Without questioning any further, Chan nodded, reversing the car as Seungkwan shot you a worried look. As they left, disappearing at the end of the road, Seungcheol began to walk into the darkness of the forest while you stood rooted to the ground, unsure about what was happening. It was only when lightning furiously struck the olive tree and it burst into flames that you took a terrified step away, following him.Â
By the time your eyes adjusted to the darkness, you found Seungcheolâs silhouette standing by his car that had been left here abandoned for days now. Pulling his keys from his pants, he unlocked it, getting into the driver's seat before turning on the engine, the car and the headlights roaring to life.Â
âGet in.âÂ
You heard his voice over the soft humming of the engine and obeyed, not wanting to fuel his already intensified anger. Seungcheol stared far off at the trees illuminated by the white lights of the car, lost in thought. You didn't dare look at him.Â
Finally, after what seemed like forever, though it had been barely a minute, he let out a sigh and turned to you. Wordlessly, he tugged you towards him, hand gripping your thigh as he pulled you into his lap. Although surprised, you didn't resist, letting him wrap his arms around you, burying his face in the crook of your neck. Overwhelmed, you hugged him back, as tight as you could, like you never want to let him go. You could feel Seungcheolâs lips curl into a smile against your skin.
âI missed you.â He whispered, nuzzling his nose against your neck.Â
Letting out a breath of relief, you finally smiled after days. âIâŠ. I missed you too.âÂ
It turned out astronomy student Seungcheol was a resourceful young man.
After nearly fifteen minutes, when the two of you finally broke from the embrace, he headed to the boot of his car and pulled out a tent and a couple of camping supplies - apparently he spent a lot of nights out in the middle of nowhere, studying the stars. You sat and watched as he skillfully erected the tent, gathered some wood and started a campfire. You stared at the flames, thoughts racing in your mind. Camping had once been a very bittersweet memory for you, and you didn't know how today was going to turn out.Â
When Seungcheol beckoned you to sit next to him by the campfire, you walked over and sat across him instead. It was high time for a conversation; for both of you to tell your truths.Â
Seungcheol sighed, âI suppose it's time we talked.â Â
You nodded.Â
âI know my behaviour over the past many days must be confusing for you.â
You nodded again.
âBefore I explain myself I just want to make one thing clear.â He took a deep breath. âI really like you Y/n.âÂ
Your lips parted in surprise. You didn't see that coming.Â
âI have since the day you stepped into camp, and I saw the way you looked at me, I knew you liked me too.âÂ
âThen whyâŠ.â
âDo you know why it's always dark in Nyx forest?âÂ
You blinked at the sudden switch of topic.Â
âBecause she's the goddess of the night?âÂ
âYes, but she's also the goddess of darkness - the trees of her forest are so dense, they don't even allow light in.âÂ
âOkayâŠ.âÂ
âWhich means other than the Underworld, this is the only place that cannot be seen from the skies, the only place my father has no eyes.âÂ
Zeus?
âYou meanâŠâ And you finally realised. âThe reason behind everything you were doing isâŠ..your father?âÂ
âI admit at first I didn't make a move on you because I didn't know if you truly liked me or if it was theâŠ.âÂ
â....usual attraction women have towards you?âÂ
Seungcheol gulped. âYeah that, but when your feelings remained consistent after my initial rejection that day in my house, I figured it was real.âÂ
âThen why didn't you kiss me when I came back?â You remembered the lightning in the sky when the two of you were giggling away in the arch of the House of Zeus. Seungcheol's power was thunder, but when you were around him, it had always been lightning. It had always been Zeus. âWas it because of your father?â
Seungcheol nodded slowly, âEver since your discovery, Olympus has been disturbed. An undetectable auraâŠ. Everyone knew something was different about you.â Oh you knew what was different. âMy father wasn't happy that I took you into my camp, so he made it very clear that I stay away from you. Otherwise he⊠would do what was necessary to keep you away.âÂ
âZeus⊠threatened me?â
Seungcheol nodded. âEver since then I have been on the edge around you, always guarded, always alert, always nervousâŠâ Oh. His force field. No wonder. âThat's why I was surprised you could touch me without being electrocuted. But now that I think about it, maybe the force field wasn't active to begin with. Perhaps I was selfish, perhaps I wasn't antagonised enough and my desire to have you was greater than my desire to protect you.â
âCheolâŠ.â You sighed, getting up and sitting beside him, taking his hand in yours. You had no idea he felt this deeply about you - all this while you assumed he didn't care. âI don't understand, why does your father care so much aboutâŠ.us? We're grown adults, we can make our own choices.âÂ
Seungcheol grew silent. Then he took a deep breath,Â
âOlympus isâŠdying.â You frowned as he continued. âYes the Gods are immortal but they've lived for too long, they've ruled for too long. After the Titans, they had been undefeated, ruling for centuries and now they're looking to step down on their own. They're looking for heirs and⊠Zeus wants me to be his.â
You could feel your heart pounding in your ears. SeungcheolâŠ.King of Olympus? Of course Zeus didn't want him to have anything to do with you, you were an anomaly, part monster.Â
âDo you want to beâŠ. I mean, is that what you want?âÂ
âBeing King of Gods? I don't know, I was never asked if it's what I wanted. For as long as I remember, ever since I was a little boy, Zeus only told me to train hard, to become worthy.â He sighed. âI don't know about being King but I do want to be branded as his heir - having Zeus's blessing would make winning the quests a lot easier. I want that for my boys.âÂ
You scoffed disbelievingly. âIs winning a sparring competition really worth it?âÂ
Seungcheolâs expression was incredulous. âWinning the quest isn't just winning a title Y/n. The camp which wins is set free - it is disbanded and the members are allowed to return to the mortal world, to live their own lives, have careers and friends and families. Winning the quest means winning freedom.â
Oh.Â
âThe boys have been working hard for years yet we haven't been able to win a season. If I'm branded Heir of Zeus, it will be easier to make alliances, to gain favors. His Mark would change the whole game.âÂ
âHis Mark?â
âHis heir would carry some sort of identifiable symbol of Zeus called His Mark, I don't know what exactly, he hasn't officially branded me yet.âÂ
âWhy not?â
âHe still doesn't feel I'm worthy enough, he thinks I can do better. Train harder, lead the team better, choose my partner betterâŠ.â
The two of you fell in a painful silence.Â
âY/n as much as I want His Mark, I want you too-âÂ
âBut you can't have both can you?â
Seungcheol slowly shook his head.Â
âYou can't have both anywhere but hereâŠâ You slowly added. âZeus isn't watching you here right?â
âHe isn't but all that lightning earlierâŠ. those were warnings. I suppose he suspects.â Seungcheol looked up, eyes meeting the trees instead of the sky. âI hoped this would seem like an attempt to get the car back but I guess not.âÂ
âDoes that mean this is the first and last time we're going to be civil with each other?â You chuckled sadly. âAre we going to go back to the Cold War?â
âY/n,â Seungcheol turned to you, gripping your hands tighter. âLet me just become his heir, officially that is, receive His Mark, win the quest and then we can do whatever - he can't stop me.â
âSo youâŠyou want us to work?â
He nodded. âOf course I do. Y/n I mean it, I really do like you and I want us to at least have a chance - that is ifâŠ. if you want me too.âÂ
You did want him. Of course you wanted him, but the fact still remained - you were part monster. Would Seungcheol, the leader who put his boys above all, the man who was to rule the heavens, still want you if he knew? It was only right to tell him the truth butâŠ
Perhaps you took a little too long to muse. You were drawn out of your thoughts as Seungcheol retracted his hand.
âIt's completely okay if you don'tâŠâÂ
You gripped his fingers, looking at him determined. Seungcheol seemed confused by your mismatching actions but he waited for you to say something. Instead, you showed him.
Leaning forward you pressed your lips against his, softly at first before he tilted his head further capturing your mouth in a frenzy.Â
The two of you kissed like teenagers in the heat, licking, sucking, moaning into each other's mouths. Lips swollen, neck almost catching a cramp from the angle, but you continued, sliding into his lap, your legs across his, whimpering when he squeezed your thighs. Instinctively, you grabbed the hem of your t-shirt and lifted it, pulling it over your head and tossing it on the floor after which you realisedâŠ.. the forest was watching.Â
âWhat's wrong?â Seungcheol looked at you concerned, trying his best not to ogle at your breasts.Â
âFeels like we're being watched.â You muttered, wrapping your arms around his neck, pressing yourself closer to him so you didn't feel so exposed.Â
Laughing, Seungcheol looked up at you fondly, tucking your hair behind your ear. âEverything in the Nyx forest embodies her, she's present everywhere.âÂ
âSo we're going to have sex inâŠin front of a goddess?âÂ
âOh we're going to have sex?â He grinned at you teasingly.Â
âCheolâŠâ You whined. âYes, yes we are, but I just don't know about hereâŠâÂ
âNyx isn't just any goddess, she's a primordial. Unlike the gods, she doesn't have a human form. She's just an entity, spread through her realm.âÂ
âSo she just⊠exists?âÂ
He nodded. âShe doesn't come under the rules that govern the Gods - she's above and beyond the inhabitants of Olympus.â
âDoes that mean she won't tattle on Zeus about us?â
Seungcheol laughed, placing a butterfly kiss on your nose, like you were too cute for him to handle. âShe is the one god Zeus is terrified of so no, he won't ask and she won't tell.â Â
âThank fuck.â You muttered and kissed him again, your urgency nearly knocking him over. Balancing your weight over him, Seungcheol chuckled, pulling you closer, tongue slipping into your mouth. You wanted to take his shirt off too but when you tried to reach for the hem, Seungcheol drew back, glancing at your hand.Â
âWhat?â You raised your eyebrows, curious but not worried. You had finally learnt that Seungcheol really wanted you. Something else was bothering him.
He shook his head and before you could ask him again, he hooked his arm under your knees and with absolutely zero effort, lifted you, carrying you to the tent. Somehow, after all that happened between the two of you, it was only when he glanced at your face so lovingly that you felt shy, looking away with a smile. Laughing Seungcheol set you down on the sleeping bag before zipping up the entrance, the faint light of the campfire illuminating the inside. You pulled your legs together, hugging your knees and Seungcheol's expression turned amused.Â
âDidn't take you to be a shy one.â
âI'm not.â You mumbled, âbut I don't know. I suddenly feel like a teenager who's out with her boyfriend, about to do it for the first time.âÂ
Seungcheol crouched, his eyes at you level, suppressing a smile. âBoyfriend?â
âDon't get ahead of yourself.â You narrowed your eyes at him.
âI'm just observing.â He laughed. âYou like the forbidden.âÂ
âI don't mind the unconventional.â You corrected him.Â
âEven if it means pretending like we don't want to have anything to do with each other when I like you so damn much?â
You nodded, trying not to blush.Â
Seungcheol tugged your arms, pulling them away from you. âEven if we have to come to the middle of nowhere every time we want to have sex?âÂ
âMost definitely.âÂ
âAnd what if I never want to leave this place?â He leaned over, prompting you to lean away, your back hitting the ground as he hovered over you. âWhat if I want to be inside you and never leave?âÂ
âWorks for me.â You grinned, pulling him down by his shirt, kissing him yet again. You couldn't remember the last time you enjoyed making out with someone this much. Maybe it was how soft his lips were, or how eager he was to kiss you back or just how much you craved this, the moment he broke away to kiss your neck, you whined at the loss.Â
âI've been dying to get my hands on you like this.â He groaned, grabbing a tit with a hand and the other with his mouth, the swirl of his tongue making your back arch. Taking advantage of your raised hips, Seungcheol hooked his fingers along the waistband of your shorts, pulling it down along with your underwear. As he dragged it down your legs, he sat on his heels, looking at you like you were a miracle, causing you to blush all over again. Before you could ask to see him too he descended upon your chest again, trailing down this, mapping your skin with his lips as his fingers teased your folds. Of course you were drenched between your legs, your hands threading his thick tresses as he kissed you at the dip of your waistline, looking up to see you tense in anticipation.Â
Fuck.Â
He looked so hot like that, gauging your reactions, eager to please, asking inaudible if he could. When you gave him a soft nod, he wasted no time, throwing your legs over his shoulders, running his tongue deliberately slowly between your folds. The moan that left you was unholy to say the least, grip in his hair tightening as he didn't give you even a second to register it all, tongue slipping into your hole. Your thighs involuntarily squeezed together, trying to chase the feeling though your tried your best to not crush him between your legs, but Seungcheol seemed to be rather enjoying it all, sucking on your clit, coaxing it just the right way. In no time, he had a shiver run down your body, everything tightening in the pits of your being as you came on his tongue and he hummed against his skin, tasting you.Â
âYou taste fucking good.â
âYou are fucking good.â You huffed, catching your breath, pulling your legs off his shoulders. âWhere did you learn to do that?âÂ
Seungcheol shrugged, straightening himself. âBeing the Son of Zeus is not all too bad.âÂ
You rolled your eyes as he undid his pants and leaned down to kiss you, caging you between his arms. His erection pressed against you, causing you to grind your hips, pulling a groan out of him.Â
âTake your shirt off.â You whispered as he met your hips with his, not reacting. âLet me see you Cheol.âÂ
And when he continued to kiss down your neck without listening, you knew something was wrong.Â
âCheolâŠ.â Hands on his chest, you pushed him back, putting some distance between the two of you so you could see his face when he winced, like it hurt.Â
Swearing under your breath, you apologised, sitting up as he did, face contorted in pain. Your hands moved to undo his buttons, when he shook his head, putting his hand in between.Â
âCheol let me see.â And when he seemed stubborn as ever, you added. âAre you still going to keep hiding things from me?âÂ
Those words make him lower his guard, allowing you to quickly work his buttons, eyes falling in the centre of his chest. There was a large wound right in the middle, the lesion scabbed, bleeding at places, looking red and devastatingly painful. It was the mark of your fire.Â
âItâs my fault.â You whispered, terrified to run your fingers all over it. âIt's all my fault-â
âThis is exactly why I didnât want toâŠâ Seungcheol sighed. âItâs not your fault Y/n, we both were foolish to not wear gear when we ventured off.â
He still thought you were blaming yourself for leading him to the Chimaera. He deserved to know that it was your fire that hurt him, he deserved the truth, just like he had given you.Â
âCheol I need to tell you something-â
âI know. I know the Chimaera was talking to you, that it told you something.â His expression wasn't as grim as you thought it would be. âBut whatever it is, it can wait-â
âNo it really canât.â
âHavenât you had enough of everything around us pulling us apart?â Seungcheol sighed. âThereâs always something or the other trying to come between us when all we want is just to be with each other.â
âI know but-â
âWhatever it is can wait till we are done.â He looked at you expectantly. âUnless you insist I need to know right now.âÂ
You should have insisted. You should have told him the truth, but as much as it made you a hypocrite, your resolve faltered, and you shook your head. You were fully naked and halfway through things - it was already too late. If this was the last time you could have Seungcheol then you wanted to savor it.Â
Relieved, Seungcheol stripped out of his shirt, trying his best to not show the pain in his face. âIâm fine, everything is fine.â
âIâm so sorry.â You whispered, as his lips found yours, your bodies reaching for the ground again, Seungcheol holding his weight from crushing you. Giving his length a few pumps, you watched as he rubbed it against your folds, ignoring your pleas before he finally pushed it into your needy hole and your walls sucked him in immediately.Â
âFuck youâre tight.â He groaned, thrusting his hips slowly. A part of you wanted him to gently make love to you like this, but another just wanted to bring that animal out of him again, the one that railed you into oblivion on the hood of his car. All parts of you though, only wanted one thing.Â
âDonâtâŠ.â And from your expression, Seungcheol knew what you were asking for. You didnât want to cum fast or cum over and over again. You just wanted him. âPlease, just let me feel you.âÂ
And he did. Bending your knee, he wrapped your leg around his waist and you immediately followed suit with the other one, locking your ankles behind him. He moved his hips, thrusting to a rhythm of his own - sometimes it was fast, hips snapping away as his eyes were fixed on your face twisted in pleasure. Sometimes it was slow and deep, kissing you on one hand, hitting all the right spots on the other. Either way, you came around him twice, your arousal leaking out, hole sore but you didnât ask him to stop and neither did he offer to, like he was intoxicated by being inside you. It wasnât until he frantically asked where you wanted him to come and you tightened your legs around him that he finally stopped, coming inside you, ropes of white coating your walls and filling you up. As he came down from his high, he rolled off you, lying on his back, his chest heaving, catching its lost breath. You snuggled into his arms, careful not to touch his wounds, realising it was finally time to tell him the truth.Â
But you couldnât. Not when he wrapped his arms around you, dropping a soft kiss on your forehead, muttering something you didnât quite hear.Â
Seungcheolâs truth had fixed what was broken, but your truth would only break the two of you againâŠ.
Maybe the truth could wait.Â
Maybe some things really were better left unsaid.Â
By the time the two of you returned to camp, the sun began setting behind the horizon.Â
After the two of you cleaned up, packed the tent and other camping essentials, Seungcheol pulled you into his lap again, tangling his hands in your hair, kissing you. All sense of time lost, the two of you simply made out lazily, kisses interjected by laughter, laughter interjected by more kissing. Although you didn't want to part, he pressed his forehead against yours, sadly whispering, âWe should go.âÂ
Throughout the two hour drive, neither of you spoke. You could tell he was itching to hold your hand and you longed to lean on him too but you were not in Nyx's domain anymore, you were under Zeus's skies. If two hours of distance was so difficult you wondered how the two of you would navigate the upcoming days, until Zeus decided to impart his Mark on him. But you'd do it. For him, for what was between the two of you, you'd do it.Â
But the moment Seungcheolâs car entered the camp, you felt your guts twist. You couldn't place your finger on it all that well but something was very similar to the last time the two of you returned from the Forest of Nyx - all the members rushed towards the car immediately, faces looking both worried and confused.Â
Seokmin rushed up to Seungcheol whispering something in his ear, the latter glancing at you concerned before asking you to follow him. Immediately, all of you headed towards the temple, murmuring amongst each other, finding Jihoon standing before the altar, two indistinguishable objects in his hand.Â
âI didn't approach the Oracle.â Seungcheol frowned at Jihoon, puzzled. âHow did these arriveâŠ.âÂ
âWell,â The Son of Apollo raised the contents in his hand. âThey arrived nevertheless, one for you and one for her.â
Everyone turned to you.Â
âFor me?â You pointed at yourself. âWhat came for me?â
âScroll of Sacrifice.â He held out a rolled piece of paper to you. âA deal, for one meeting with Goddess Hestia.âÂ
Stunned, you blinked at him. Â
âAnd for you,â He turned to his chief. âA deal to receive the Mark of Zeus.â
Seungcheol and you turned to each other surprised - What was going on?
Stretching your hands out unsure, both of you reached for your respective scrolls, the paper immediately unravelling at your touch.
Written right in the middle of your paper, scribbled away in black ink was just one word, a name, one that felt like a knife was plunged into your heart - Seungcheol.Â
Beside you, Seungcheol had dawned an equally painful expression on his face and over on his paper was a name too.Â
Yours.Â
A/n - Phew, what a chapter, this was such a challenge to write but we finally got some cheol action hehe and the ending, yeah, I know, what can I say, its impossible for me to function without a cliffhanger :') Anyways, thank you for reading, please feel free to leave your thoughts and screams and emotions in the comments or the tags - see you in chapter 5!

đ old love
pairings : ex bf!riki x reader ; exs to lovers
synopsis : it has been almost a year since y/n and riki have broken up, though the reason behind it is quite silly. simply stating that you both were on different paths. while on your âdifferentâ paths, you both reminisce the times you have spent together, the special moments now turned into memories, but what if your paths werent so different at all? especially since both paths lead you to the same tree where you two shared your first kiss together under the enchanting moonlight.
*w.c - 1.6k
*inspired by my favorite song old love by yuji & putri dahlia !!
* this is a long one so i hope you all enjoy till the very end !!
waking up you already knew it would be a particularly sadder day than the rest, as with each day it draws closer to the day you and your ex boyfriend, nishimura riki, broke up. which would now complete a year. a year without, who you consider, your special someone. a year without your best friend. just a year without him.
this is what you both were afraid of when you both started dating. you both were afraid of that one dreaded day where you two would split, but you guys never thought it would happen. that night you both lost the most important thing in your lives.
in the beginning of the break up it was of course very hard to deal with. yes it was a mutual agreement but you both couldnât help but feel that it was a mistake. both were too afraid to speak up about how they truly feel after they had already agreed to split and that right there was their true problem. communication. you both became very closed off when it came to communicating youre feelings. you both would simply ask each other what was wrong and if neither said anything, it simply gets brushed off.
throughout the rest of the day it was quite noticeable that your mood was down. your friends came up to you, called and even messaged you asking if you were doing okay, but of course you simply said you were fine. it had been like this ever since the beginning of this month. wake up sadder than yesterday and have people ask you if you were feeling okay and you saying you were fine.
you missed riki very badly as did he. itâs unbelievable how you two have gone this far without getting back in contact. the only thing you can think of is going on a late night walk so you grabbed your jacket and headed out.
since it was quite late, the streets were quiet with the occasional cars passing by and the whistle of the wind. while on the walk you started to remember some memories you had with riki, but there was one memory that you will forever cherish. the day you and riki shared your first kiss.
ÊÉ
you and riki have been dating for 3 months and you guys couldnt be happier. since today marks the third month, riki wanted to take you on a sweet date. he surprised you by taking you to a place where you can paint your own pottery. oh how cute this date was. you both decided to make a matching set together.
âso what should we paint my love?â said riki while looking at you with excitement. âooo do you wanna make a matching set? i think that would be cute!â you said grabbing onto his hand almost jumping in your seat from excitement. âyeah sure but what?â he scooted his chair closer to yours still holding your hand since he felt so far from you even though he was just inches away. âi found this cute design but lets add something to the bottom so its more personalized!â you show him the image of what you wanted to do.
rikis heart melted looking at the image. âlets add i love you at the bottom but yours will say riki mines will say y/nâ he gives his idea hoping youd take it. âaww that so cute yes lets do it!â you give him a quick kiss on the cheek and started to get you guys stuff ready. rikis was still stuck on the kiss he received on the cheek. even though youve done it a million times, your lips on him would always spread such warmth through him. he couldnt get enough of you truly.
riki had already finished his cup but you were still at it. this gave riki time to really take in your presence and beauty. he adored the face you make when youre concentrated, getting all serious making sure your details came out perfectly. the way some strands of you hair tends to slowly fall in front of you which allows him to draw himself closer to you and brush it away to see more of your beauty. what he loved most was your eyes. the way your eyes always had this beautiful shine to them no matter what. he fell in love with how your eyes shine brighter than before whenever you look at him because thats the exact way he looks at you, with such love and adoration.
you both completed your art and left with your new mugs. the rest of the day was spent going into some stores buying some cute matching things then ultimately a little cafe. after the cafe it was already dark so to end off the night, you and riki decided to go on a simple walk in the park talking about how your day went.
"i really enjoyed our date kiki, i cant wait to use my mug and all these cute new matching stuff we have now!" you say with a little giggle. oh how he loved your little giggle and your laugh all around. simply just you in general is what he loved so much. "me too and i cant wait to go on many more with you my love" he smiles softly at you.
coming up under a tree, you stare at the moon in awe, âits so beautiful kikiâ you continue to look up unaware of rikis gaze on you. âyeah it really is beautifulâ he says while you turn to catch his enchanted gaze at you. ây/n..i love you more than anything in this world. youre so beautiful and you always know how to light up someones day even with just that pretty smile of yours and you truly mean the world to me.â as riki says this you cant help but only be able to utter the words âi love you-â before you can finish, you feel his soft lips on yours. it felt like fireworks went off as soon as it happened. you never wanted this moment to end and neither did he. as you two pulled apart you two simply giggle sweetly and rest your foreheads against each others staring at each other with nothing but love.
ÊÉ
its almost like you and riki were still connected somehow because he too was also doing the exact same thing as you. he too was feeling the same as you, sadder than before thinking about how hes been away from you for almost a year. he too decided to take a late night walk and started to reminisce all the times hes been with you, the memories he holds so dear to his heart. especially that one.
i also say you two are still connected because those oh so âdifferent pathsâ unconsciously lead you both to the exact same place you shared that special moment. you both look up at each other, stunned youre both here right now. slowly you two inched your way closer to each other, now standing right in the same special spot.
you both say hi at the same time which makes you two let out a small chuckle. âso..how have you been?â you asked and right there riki broke. he had to tell you how he was truly feeling, the feeling of utter loneliness. the feeling of that there was something missing from his life and it was you. you were everything he needed and he wanted no he needed you back. âcan i be honest with you?â he asked sincerely. âyeah you know you can always be honest with me kiki.â oh that sweet nickname you gave him always made him feel so warm inside. it made him feel so special since it was only you who called him that and he loved it so much.
âwell then in all honesty i havent been feeling good recently as it draws closer to one year of us being apart. i dont know how or why i havent reached out to you, i miss you so much. i feel as a whole part of me is missing. youre my missing piece y/n. on the walk here you were all i thought of, all those beautiful memories we have had. heck i still use our matching mug that we made and have all our matching things with me alwaysâ he states as he brings up his shirt a bit to reveal his keys attached to his pants with the matching keychains you bought as well as the matching ring you two had bought on his finger. seeing that you brought out your keychain and showed your ring too. you two never did let go of each other.
at the sight of this, you and riki both started to tear up. âplease baby, i dont want to be away from you anymoreâ riki stated as a tear started to fall. you got closer and reached your hand up to his cheek to wipe away his tear smiling softly. âme neither kikiâ and with that you slowly leaned in to give him a soft yet passionate kiss to his lips and with a quick yet gentle motion he wraps his hands around your waist to pull you in closer to him. oh how he missed you being this close. eventually you pull away much to you and rikis dismay, âwill you be mine again? forever this time?â riki asks with a smile, bringing up one hand to softly stroke your cheek. âyes of course. i love you so much kikiâ she smiles. âi love you so much moreâ he says leaning in for another sweet kiss.
even on âdifferent pathsâ you and riki found a way back into each others arms and what better place to find each other again than where it all truly began.
* if you made it to the end thank you and i hope you liked it ilya !!

Hot tub (Reader x JJ Maybank)
Requested by: @p0nycurtis, Forever tag: @missmelodramatic, @floatlosers, @alex--awesome--22  @merlieve, @queen-of-books, @glimmering-darling-dolly , @denkisclown, @wildiefleur , @meyocoko , @subjecta13-thefangirl , @m-rae23 , @harleyquinnswifeyfrfr , @melsunshine , @panhoeofmanyfandoms , @venomsvl , @the-uncoordinated-house-cat , @rosecentury , @evilcr0ne , @vviolynn , @niktwazny303 , @avada-kedrava-bitch-187, @erikasurfer , @slythetic  , @eliscannotdance
âLook letâs just find JJ and get this over with.â â Kiara spoke, looking over her shoulder to Pope and you. The three of you walked up the driveway. Kiara furrowing her brows when she noticed lots of lights coming from his front yard. â âWhat theâŠâ â she mumbled underneath her breath. Pope had an interesting view of it too.
Looking confused around to the decoration lights like it was Christmas. Kiara hurried a bit up once she saw the huge thing in his front yard. Unable to miss the hot tub taking up so much place. Inside sat JJ, enjoying the warm water.
You rushed after Pope to reach the hot tub. JJ took the sunglasses a bit down. Eyeing his friends that came standing before him with shock. â âJJ what did you do?â â Pope asked. Gawking at the hot tub in disbelieve. JJ chuckled drunkenly. â âI got a jet going straight up my butt right now.â
It was clear he had been drinking. Certainly to see from the bottles of champagne standing in a floaty around him. â âYaâll should get in quickly.â â he continued, bringing a floaty with a bottle closer to him.
Kiara couldnât stop herself from staring in disbelieve at him. Watching a JJ poorly poured some champagne in two plastic glasses. â âDo you hear me?â â He spoke when no response came. â âHello!â â calling out for any attention.
Holding a glass up. â âHow much did this cost?â â was the only burning question on Popeâs mind. JJ pulled the bottle of champagne down with a drunk chuckle. â âUhm⊠well⊠with the generator, express deliverâŠâ â he explained pointing around.
Kiara couldnât stop looking around, still trying to hold on to the thought it wasnât real. That hopefully this was all just a bad dream. You had a sense of what was coming next. Slightly whispering to yourself that he could still prove you wrong. â âPretty much everything.â â he ended as the final blow was taken.
Popeâs jaw dropped. â âAll of it.â â he said trying to wrap his mind around it. â âYou spend all of it in one day.â â he finished. â âPopeâŠâ â you said touching his arm to go easy. Pope pulled his arm away, too upset to listen to reason.
âYeah burned a hole right through my pocket.â â JJ answered, not helping one bit with his case. It made you look up to the heavens, pleadingly. â âBut come on guys look at this.â â his voice shrieked a bit higher as he brought the floaties closer to him.
Kiara kept staring in disgust at him. Something he quickly caught up on that he was being judged. â âKie come one!â â he called out. â âCanât a man have some luxury in life?â â he pleaded with no success.
Kiara shook her head, crossing her arms. â âCome on, honest all this scraping and strugglingâŠâ â his behaviour changing trying to maintain control over not losing his mind.
You noticed it. Saw him struggle to keep himself strong. You knew JJ. He wouldnât do something this reckless unless something had truly shaken him up. â âYou⊠you only live once right? Enough of this emotional shit, get in.â â he finished toughening up.
âJJ.â â you said coming closer to the tub. â âY/n come on in, Iâve saved a special spot for you.â â he replied shoving a floaty aside. â âY/n donât encourage him.â â Pope told you. You glanced over your shoulder to him with a glare. â âOh I almost forgot.â â JJ cut through.
Pressing a button as lights flashed on. An engine making a sound as water started to spray from one side to another. â âYeah I know, disco mode.â â JJ called out with so much happiness. â âAre you kidding me!â â Pope shouted as JJâs smile faltered.
âYou couldâve paid for restitution.â â Pope blamed him. â âOr literally given it to charity!â â Kiara shouted along. â âJust stop!â â you yelled, turning around to them. â âDonât defend him now Y/n!â â Kiara called back to you.
âIâm not, but yelling at him isnât going to do any good. Itâs not going to change anything. Maybe you should take a second and actually act like a friend than parent him Kie!â â you fired back without any shame.
Having enough of their parental talk towards him like he is a child that needs scolding. Kiara scoffed loud, turning her posture a bit away. â âSo what you just want to pat him on the back and tell him itâs okay that he spend all of our money on a stupid hot tub!â â Kiara shouted back.
Pope tried to interfere, maintain some decency. JJ was pinching his nose bridge, close to lose his temper with all this shouting. â âOkay well I didnât do that!â â he shouted getting up.
Your eyes immediately fell on the bruises on his chest. Knowing what it meant. Luke hadnât kept his hands to himself. â âI got a hot tub for my friends!â â he called out trying so hard not to breakdown.
âNo⊠you know what screw friends⊠for my family.â â he corrected himself. You climbed into the hot tub, not caring that you were getting wet. â âJJ what happened?â â Kiara asked shockingly. â âLook at this! Look at this Y/n.â â he said looking around.
You pushed his arm down, coming nearer to him. Wrapping your arms around him. The moment your arms were around him, he started sobbing loud. Burying his face in the nook of your neck. Hugging him tighter, barely able to withhold your own tears.
âIâm going to kill him.â â you whispered to JJ. Letting him know you werenât going to let Luke off the hook so easily. He sobbed even louder, holding on tight to you. The only lifeboat he had in an endless sea.
âIâm sorryâŠâ â he cried out to you. Regretting his action with the money. â âItâs okay.â â you reassured him. Giving him a kiss in his neck to let him know you were here. That you were always here for him. You felt him shudder against your body, embracing you tighter.
Leaning a bit back with your head, you cupped his cheeks, letting him meet with your eye level. Moving some of his hair aside. Wiping his cheeks dry from the tears. â âYouâll stay with me from now on.â â you told him. â âYour momâŠâ - he sputtered out with a sob, guessing what she would say.
âWould welcome you with open arms.â â you told him, wanting him to look you in the eye. He curled up a faint smile. You kissed his cheek, making him smile just that bit more. Taking his hand you guided him down.
Forcing him to sit in the hot tub with you. â âNow where was that jet going straight up your butt.â â you told him hearing him chuckle. He moved a bit away, allowing you to sit there.
You looked over at Pope, nodding to him that it was alright. That you had him. Pope nodded back, taking Kiara by the arm. â âAre you just going to leave them like this?â â Kiara called out. Pope kept pulling at her to give you some privacy. JJ sniffed loud, wiping some wetness of his face.
âI know you are trying to make me feel better Y/n.â â he said splashing some water away. â âWell you got us a hot tub, I might as well enjoy it.â â you answered looking up to him. JJ chuckled slowly turning his head. His smile freezing when his gaze entangled with yours.
Slowly fading and changing into adoration. Sensing what was going through you, probably was going through him as well. A desire to kiss each other. For unspoken feelings to be declared. JJ moved closer to you, lifting his hands up from the water to cup your face.
âI wouldnât know what to do without you.â â he whispered to you. â âThen stay with me.â â you whispered back. Eyes closing, you decreased the space between you. Allowing your lips to touch. To touch for the first time with such intensity it made your heart burst into a million butterflies.

Guess we're talking about millie being preggo I originally didn't want to discuss this, I wanna talk about stolitz lol. Unfortunately I forgot this fanbase is filled with misogynistic scum, so let's talk about millie.
First off, she didn't cheat, she's not having an affair, she didn't get assaulted, and she's not selling her body for money.
It's stupid that I have to say any of that, but if any of those statements are things you genuinely believe you need to take you're misogynistic beliefs and shove them and afterwards get away from my page.
You know what is going on with her... she's found out she's pregnant which is not always a happy thing, nor should it be. Having children uproots your entire life, and changes everything. The way people think about you and the way people see themselves.
We have already established multiple times that millie is a character that only sees value in her strength and abilities.
Now, let's get into the moments in the episode and the things that are foreshadowing the pregnancy reveal. If people perceive the only sign as the one where she is throwing up and when she lashes out at moxxie there's more. When the client comes in a blitz initially declines the offer both moxxie and millie too absorbed into sinsmas wrath to notice the reason why. Moxxie even laughs and goes "really?" They're not paying attention, which is actually out of character for millie (ie hormones) millie is usually really on point and supportive when it comes to Blitz and his emotional needs.
After she throws up, we get this small moment at the window where she's not even looking at the scene. She's no feeling well she wants to get out of the cold, and we can also see the concern in moxxie as he looks at her.
Then there's this moment and it works well to reestablish that millie loves her job, and it also works to show she's no all there emotionally. Everyone including moxxie her husband is walking away, but millie wasn't in that moment that everyone one else had. So she's confused and upset, which is understandable.
This results in her lashing out again.
She insults moxxie, and of course immediately apologizes, and she doesn't even know why she responded that way. Millie is usually pretty well in control with the exception of seeing Chaz and later in happy campers (which was justified) and ghostf*ckers (also justified) are the only times she gets upset and lashes out.
Moxxie once again is not upset he's just concerned, he knows something is wrong, he just doesn't know what it is.
Want to take this moment before the in episode reveal to talk about how hard it is to rewatch these two scenes knowing that millie is preggos. The stress is real omg.
Next this scene of millie deciding to use guns is also interesting because it might be setting up for season 3. If millie keeps this a secret for a long time in season 3 I can see her doing more long range killings in the future. At least until she decides what's she's going to do.
I love that she decided to talk to her sister, and I also love the small detail of their mom being the first to notice something is off.
This is a hard transition for millie because she loves the life she lives, and she loves her husband. We hear her say in ghostfers that's she's happy, we've also seen their lives be uprooted already. Now millie feels like after finally finding stability things are ruined again.

"At this point, I might as well just tell it to you straight. I've got a whole bunch of opinions about you." "Uh... well... I knew that already. For ages now," Xie Lian said. "Oh really?" Mu Qing said coldly. "Then do you know that I often thought you relied on your status too much- that even though you were His Highness the Crown Prince, even though you had good fortune, your skills weren't that much better than mine?" "..." "I also thought that you probably only liked doing all those good deeds for show, because you wanted all the praise and flattery. And that you only helped me because of that- I was the perfect subject for you to demonstrate your sympathy and kindness on. To be honest, some of my opinions haven't changed, even now." (Vol. 8, pg. 54-55)
This does not sound like a guy who has/had a good opinion of Xie Lian.
This sounds like a guy who thinks Xie Lian is an arrogant nepo baby who does good deeds for the optics. And while he mentions Xie Lian's circumstances, it's all couched in what Xie Lian is doing with them. If there is a place in the novel where I'm meant to take away that Mu Qing's issues with Xie Lian were actually with his circumstances, please point it out to me. Because from where I stand, it looks like Mu Qing spends most of the novel with a pretty poor opinion of Xie Lian. He definitely feels resentment over the (original) differences in their stations, but that resentment very clearly rolls over into his resentment regarding Xie Lian and what he sees Xie Lian doing with his station.
Not only that, we see him react positively more than once to Xie Lian suffering/doing bad things. He's a little "cheered" to learn Xie Lian's living in a shack (1.219). He's in an "excellent mood" when Xie Lian is put under house arrest, and he's "uncontrollably excited" to think Xie Lian is responsible for the Gilded Banquet Massacre (2.183). He's smug and passive-aggressive when they're talking about Xie Lian's past as General Hua (1.323) He also accuses Xie Lian of only offering to help 'his general' re: the fetus spirit in hopes of sabotaging his case (5.55). All this is to say, we see throughout canon that this guy does not think highly of Xie Lian. They parted ways on bad terms, and Mu Qing spent 800 years convinced Xie Lian hated him. It took him seeing Xie Lian again after 800 years and being hit in the face again and again with how good he is to finally start admitting both his negative opinions and that despite them, he still admires Xie Lian "more often than not." (8.55)
You also mention how Xie Lian and Mu Qing might have been different if they'd swapped places. But they do swap places!. Xie Lian spends 800 years scavenging for scraps with the worst luck possible. Mu Qing spends 800 years in the heavens, one of Thee most powerful men in the Three Realms. One stays kind and generous, the other stays skeptical and paranoid. Childhoods can be formative, yes, but there comes a limit on when we can attribute everything to a difficult childhood rather than a person's character, and the feasibility gets really stretched when we're talking about characters who have been alive for over 800+ years. TGCF definitely focuses more on nature rather than nurture, for good reason. It's a central theme of the novel.
TGCF makes it clear: to change or to stay the same are both choices. Staying the same is not a default action- often, (especially under pressure) it is an active choice someone makes. Mu Qing had 800 years to unpack his issues and grow as a person. He didn't. I find it both lazy and boring to throw everything about Mu Qing under the label of 'virtually sealed' because he had a difficult childhood, especially when we see none of said childhood. On top of that, you're assuming Mu Qing likely would have been a better person had he been in Xie Lian's position, but the opposite is just as possible- who's to say being a prince wouldn't have made him worse? Look at Qi Rong. Xie Lian's parents are permissive as hell. That Xie Lian turned out how he did speaks to his character, not the people around him. And in canon Mu Qing may dislike being compared to the Crown Prince he once served, but I imagine that if their positions were swapped, he would have hated even more being outshone by a mere servant.
Also, forgive me if this is unwelcome, but I feel like your argument would be much stronger if you relied on textual evidence from the book from phases of Mu Qing's life that we actually see- for example, I do believe that watching Xie Lian crash and burn in Book 2/4 definitely discouraged him from ever sticking his neck out for someone else. It would discourage me! But talking about Mu Qing's childhood as crucial for understanding him when we get maybe a few sentences about it isn't very compelling. Mu Qing is an interesting character with a lot of depth and complexity, but reducing him down to 'he couldn't help it, and it was always about their stations anyway' does him a disservice.
There's something to be said about how Mu Qing and Jun Wu both held these ideas about Xie Lian and who he really is as a person- specifically, that his kind and forgiving nature is a lie, and deep down he's actually just like them. These are ideas Mu Qing and Jun Wu spent centuries believing, refusing to be convinced otherwise until they had no other choice.
But that's where their similarities end. Because while Mu Qing resents Xie Lian for his good character, he also honestly admires him for it. Jun Wu, on the other hand, 'loves' Xie Lian, but grows angrier each time he's reminded of how different they really are. And so I think it's very fitting that when Mu Qing finally swallows his pride and admits his preconceptions and faults to Xie Lian, it's on the Heavens-Crossing Bridge, the literal wreckage of Jun Wu's hopes and dreams.
#illuspeaks#mu qing#xie lian#tgcf meta#youre making a lot of claims without providing any connections to the text#your argument would be much stronger if you used specific examples and/or citations. as it is its a lot of conjecture#i hope that doesnt sound condescending- i mean it sincerely#i just cant resist giving some technical advice here. im sorry if its unwanted

or how the first time your boyfriend meets your cat doesn't go as planned (he survives don't worry)
Jason Todd x gn!reader
Warnings: none, reader is a doctor and Norbert is a chunky boi
After successfully taking down another trafficking ring, Jason was ready to head back home.
As he helped the last person out of their restraints, shots got fired from behind him, causing him to promptly duck by the nearest car. He went to take his guns into his hands, but quickly realized he must've threw them earlier when approaching the little girls kept in the warehouse, trying to appear as little intimitanding as possible.
"Shit," he muttered, searching for a way out. Without thinking, he grabbed the body of one of the men he had shot and used it as his shield until he got to the other side of the street, where he could see one of the men's rifles.
Quickly discarding of the corpse, he took the weapon into his hands, muscle memory kicking in as he fired at the sniper perched by the window of an abandoned building.
Retrieving his guns, he managed to run a few blocks towards his bike before more shots were being fired at him, certainly from Black Mask's goons.
As he fired back, one of the bullets from the aggressors pierced throught his left thigh, making him grunt in pain.
The adrenaline in his body was too high for him to fully comprehend the situation. Ultimately he managed to kill some of the goons before storming off on his bike.
While skimming trought the desolated streets of Gotham, Jason knew he needed medical attention asap, but his apartment was too far away and in no way in hell was he going to the manor, so he opted for the only other option he had.
Your place.
Now, you and him had been dating for quite some time, but he had never been to your apartment before. It was mainly to keep you out of harm's way, were someone to see a vigilante coming every night to your window and associating you with him.
The other reason was your cat, Norbert.
He had seen pictures and videos of him, but had been warned by every single one of your friends and apparently Dick as well, that he despised men.
Dick had learned it the hard way when he was passing throught your neighbourhood and saw you desperately trying to coax Norbert back into you apartment, since he somehow got himself on the fire escape and had no intention of budging.
Imagine your horror upon seeing Nighwing picking up your cat and trying to pet him and coo at him.
"Aw, what a cutie, what's his name-"
"Nighwing, no!-"
But it was too late: your cat had already scratched the man's cheek. Dick screamed as he let the cat go and almost tumbled over the fire escape. Now everytime somebody brought Norbert up in conversation, you could alway hear him cussing out your cat under his breath.
But Jason's mind was too far gone to fully underatnd what was happening, all he was thinking of was to get to shelter, to find a way not to bleed to death in the middle of the road, so up your building's fire escape he went.
He had made it to your window and knocked on it lighlty, knowing you'd be up reading a book before going to bed.
As if on cue, you arrived jogging with a toothbrush in your mouth, hastily sliding up your window upon seeing your boyfriend's doubled over figure.
"Oh my God, love, are you okay?" You hadn't spotted the gunshot yet, too preoccupied to bring his massive frame into your home.
"Hey, sweetheart," He said, taking his helmet off. Sweat made his hair cling to his forehead, a groan leaving his lips as he tried his best not to put his weight on the injured leg, "Sorry if this is the way I visit your place for the first time."
You gave him a worried look as you assessed the wound before running to the bathroom, getting rid of your toothbrush and pulling out the first aid kit. You thanked every entity in this universe for making you choose to go to medical school as you quickly returned to the living room, where you found Jason slumped against your coffee table.
You quickly began working on his leg, giving him a gauze to bite into.
"Tahnh yuh babh"
You tried to suppress a chuckle as you finished wrapping up his leg and gave him a glass of water and osme painkillers. You kissed his cheek, "No problem, love, I'm literally doing my job"
Jason gave you a lopsided grin both from pure exhaustion and sleepiness, and he felt his eyes begin to droop.
You shook him lightly, afraid to injure him further but definitely not wanting him to worsen his conditions.
"Hey, baby, you need to stay awake for me for a bit, yeah?"
"Mh-I knoww...I just-"
"Meow."
You stared at your boyfriedn with an horrified expression, eyes wide as your fingers grazed his bandages.
Jason seemed to have lost every single ounce of sleep in his body, matching your expression.
"Meow."
Uh oh.
"Don't move," you pleaded with him, taking his hands in yours, "I'll bring him here, just- holy cow!"
Just as you begun to turn, you spotted Norbert, your cat, in all his chunky orange glory, staring the two of you down - or better, zeroing in his amber eye on Jason, who for the first time that night, felt true fear.
"What do I do?" he whispered to you as he held eye contact with your cat, both of his hands tensing up under your grip.
You sighed, standing up, "Just stay there," then you went over Norbert and picked him up.
The feline instantly melted in your hold, purring slightly and nuzzling into you, but you could tell he wasn't fully calming down. He was still looking at Jason and his tail was swaying from side to side.
You just hoped you wouldn't have to stich Jason up again tonight.
You made your way over, taking small steps towards your boyfriend, who was still laying on the ground with a cautious look on his face.
"I made him smell some of your clothes the last few months," you started to explain, "and he even cuddled up to me in bed while i was wearing your hoodie, you know, the black Metallica one..." you took a few more steps, now directly in front of him.
You kneeled down, your arms tightening slightly around Norbert, "I really hope that did the trick,"
The cat sensed your nervousness and thinking it was due to Jason presence, hissed at him, swatting a clawed paw in his direction.
You closed your eyes, taking a big breath and trying to calm your nerves. This was a big deal for you and you cared bout both of them just as deeply, so you really hoped Norbert learned to accept Jason.
"Outstretch one of you hands towards him," you instructed Jason, "let him sniff you."
You loosened your grip on your cat and he jumped out of your arms, cautiosly making his way to Jason's hand. He let a low grumble as a warning, but upon sniffing his hand, he took a few momwnts to assess the situation. Nornert looked at you and you muttered a good boy to him, stroking his back in praise. He meowed and turned back to Jason, looking at him and then, and only then, he softly bumped his head on his hand, his fluffy tail up as Jason run his hand over his back. You both let out a relieved breath in unison, your shoulders visibly relaxing.
You watched the scene in awe, you eyes starting to well up with tears.
Jason sensed the mood switch and turned his head towards you. He was still smiling for not being smacked or bitten by your cat yet, so he scooted over, daring to do the impossible: hugging you in front of Norbert.
He had heard the stories: your guy friends and most importantly your ex boyfriend had tried to do so and had eneded up being chased around the house by a raging murderous orange ball of fur. They lived to tell the tale, but had since refused to step foot into your home ever again.
He hoped it would go differently for him.
Taking a leap of faith, he swung his arm around your shoulders, you thighs barely touching as his other hand cradled your chin.
"Hey," he looked into your eyes with worry, "you okay?"
You nodded with wide eyes, your left hand cupping his cheek with a relieved smile.
"Yeah, I'm happy he didn't attack you, it's all," you said but then your expression faltered as you heard another meow and saw Norbert staring menacingly at Jason's hand on your chin, then at Jason and then at the hand again.
He quickly dropped his hand and chuckled in apology, but you decided to see just how far you could push your luck and decided to pick Norbert up and place him onto your lap so he'd be between you two.
He unsurprisingly loafed up on you immediately and rested his chin on your right knree, staring up at the two of you.
"Try again, love," you said to Jason, who didn't need to be told twice as he eagerly tilted you chin up and leaned down for a searing kiss, his lips moulding against your own. You melted at the way his slightly chapped lips seemed to slot perfectly against yours, sighing in contemptment as your fingers twiddled witht the damp strands of hair that were stuck to his nape. You slightly tugged them and that earned you a mewl from Jason, the sound vibrating in your own mouth and making you smile in satisfaction.
Eventually pulling away to catch your breath, Jason chased your lips again but you playfully swatted his chest chuckling, "Don't push your luck, Jay. Norbert's patience runs out very quickly," you whispered as you looked down, petting the cat on your lap, "Aren't you a good boy, uh? Letting me kiss my boyfriend without drawing blood,"
Jason let out a whine, glaring at the cat and then making puppy eyes at you, "Wasn't I your good boy?"
"Jason, oh my god-"

Can't Keep a Secret
Viktor x gn!Reader | 3k | SFW Viktor notices you've been burnt out for a while, so organizes a short trip away to help you relax. A/n: I am so in love with this fictional man hnggggg also I based this off this song because it matched how sappy I felt :') đ«Â I DO NOT CONSENT TO MY WORK BEING USED TO TRAIN AIÂ đ«Â Â
Air pushed against your splayed fingers, the draft cool against your palm as you held it against the pressure. You dipped your nails down, the force causing your hand to swoop, the sensation pulling a smile on your face.
You didnât travel often, and never before via airship. The novelty was neither lost on Viktor as he held onto the railing beside you, eyes wide as he watched the rolling hills of Valoran pass beneath. The airshipâs shadow dove up and down the golden fields of wheat, until it reached the highest crest and the gold slowly dissolved into blue.
The wind whipped your face, its dominant presence the reason why the rest of the travellers remained inside during most of the duration of the ride. But the feeling wasnât entirely unpleasant, in fact, it was refreshing.
After being holed up in your study for weeks, it felt nice to be given a stark reminder that you were, in fact, a living creature who needed sun and air and adventure to satiate your soul.
It had been Viktorâs idea to take a trip to the coastal city of Holdrum to pull you out of your rut. There was only so much staring at a blank piece of paper you could handle before it drove you insane. He knew that feeling of stagnation all too well, and also knew that pushing yourself past that point didnât often yield the desired result.
The ship passed through a cloud, and you laughed as the condensation licked your skin, leaving you slightly damp. Viktor reached his arm out behind you, mimicking the way yours reached out into the clouds. He drunk in your joy and the fresh air, his tired lungs feeling lighter for once.
You opened your mouth as the next cloud passed, tasting it on your tongue.
The flight was thrilling, albeit brief, the airship docking a mere three hours after it had taken off from Piltover. The tickets had been cheap thanks to its avoidance of using the Hex Gates.
It was an irony that was not lost on you, that one of the creators of such an invention still couldnât afford to use it the traditional way. Though you were sure an exception wouldâve been made to let him fly for free, Viktor wasnât the type to put up a fuss.
His hair was a fluffed mess from the wind when he shuffled along the gangplank back onto solid ground. You stuck close to him, slightly intimidated by the busyness of the station, wares and people being offloaded all around you.
Viktor tugged you along with a glint in his eye and a grin that shone brighter than the sun. Your briefcase was heavy with clothes and books, but you didnât need to carry it for long as you reached a carriage that would take you to your weekend accommodation.
Your thigh bumped against Viktorâs as you peered out the window, making repetitive comments about how beautiful the view was. Viktor could barely concentrate as your hand rested on his knee, his eyes constantly drawn to your side profile as you watched the oceanside pass by.
His body objected as he clambered out, but his respite was so close, the seaside cottage standing at the end of the dirt path youâd been dropped off at. Peacefully isolated and surrounded by trees, with sand trailing through the cool shade of leaves, the sound of waves a hint at how to find the beach.
You took his bags, bright-eyed and excited to explore. Viktor tried not to drag his feet as he followed, lugging himself up the few steps of the porch. He subsequently crashed into the couch as you both entered the small wooden structure that had once been blue, but showed signs of age, driftwood peeking from beneath the paint.
âThis is incredible!â Your voice came muffled from the other room as you darted in and out of the different rooms.
Viktor wanted to join in your energetic outburst, but after having been on his feet for most of the day, he couldnât muster more than a hum of acknowledgement.
You poked your head out of the bedroom, taking in the way his lanky limbs extended over the small couch, his face pressed into the cushions. He heard you approach by way of creaking floorboards.
âThank you.â
He raised his face, laying his cheek flat as he looked at you. You were on your knees, curled forward with your chin resting close on the cushion.
âI know no one who works harder,â he told you, âand no one more deserving of a break.â
You pushed his wind-tousled hair from his face, the gesture enough to make his heart soar. Or maybe heâd left it in the clouds when youâd thanked him the first time, looking up at him with the same adoration as you did now.
âNo one other than you, you mean,â you teased, pinching his cheek before you rose back to your feet.
Viktor turned, the couch the perfect balance of firm and soft to keep his strained back at ease. He watched as you approached a window, opening it to let the stream of natural sounds flood in. Distant waves and the whisper of leaves rustling in the breeze that was picking up with the promise of a summer storm.
He wanted to tell you that you looked beautiful. That you gave him the impression of a living piece of the world, clicking so perfectly into any scene. In the clouds, by the coast, at your desk, by his side.
It was a secret he kept, to no oneâs benefit but his own, really. These words he guarded, belonging to only you. The thing was, he was terrible at keeping secrets.
He had blurted about the tickets the moment heâd seen you last week, when you had looked so colourless and crestfallen. Heâd do anything to see you smile, even ruining the surprise.
Even now, he struggled against the word as it danced on the tip of his tongue.
âBeautiful,â he mused, âisnât it?â
You nodded, taking a moment to tear your attention away from the relaxing ambiance. When your gaze settled on him again, it softened.
âThereâs a storm rolling in,â you told him, taking a seat next to his reclined body. His shirt had rode up, exposing a section of his pale, lower stomach. You tugged at the hem of his shirt, pulling it down to cover him again, but not without brushing your fingers against him in what you hoped was an inconspicuous manner. Viktor bit down on the inside of his cheek, his entire body thrilling at your touch. âPerfect weather for a nap, donât you think?â
Viktor smiled, the smell of rain filling the room as the first drops fell from the sky.
âYou may choose whichever bedroom you prefer. I will remain here, for now.â
Your hand fondly stroked the cushion beside his head, too shy to risk another real touch. Viktor enjoyed having you so close that he could feel your warmth seep into him. You wanted to ask him to join you, your idea of the perfect nap to weather the storm being one where he held you in his arms, but sensibility won out in the end.
The room grew darker as you disappeared into one of the bedrooms, leaving the door open behind you as you collapsed onto the mattress.
The heavy rain lulled Viktor to sleep, his hand tucked under his cheek, unaware that you had curled onto your side in the same fashion, imagining the warmth of him around you.
When you awoke hours later, bare feet padding out of the dark and into the warm light of the kitchen, you found Viktor cooking dinner.
He had slipped into something more comfortable, a baggy t-shirt and pyjama pants that hung low on his hips. You admired the dimples of his lower back as he stretched up to grab two glasses from the cabinet. Once he placed them down, he propped his cane back under his arm, hovering close to the stove as something delicious-smelling bubbled away.
Your footfall was quiet, but he turned his face to the side, a small smile on his lips.
âDid you sleep well?â
You yawned as you approached him, dropping your head onto his shoulder. âLike a log. Is that curry?â
Viktor hummed a confirmation.
âThe pantry is stocked, so I found something I thought you might like,â he stirred the pot lazily, still somewhat sleepy. âThough, the town has a market that sells imported fruits. I was hoping we might go there tomorrow.â
You nuzzled your head against the side of his arm and he chuckled.
âWill you stay awake long enough to eat with me?â He picked up the wooden spoon, blowing on it. âHere. Try.â
With his other hand hovering beneath, Viktor brought the spoon to your lips. The explosion of flavour melted into your tongue, and you hummed in delight.
âGood?â
âGood,â you agreed, eagerly moving to the table, sliding onto the bench.
A moment later, Viktor placed the food and assortment of cutlery before you, then slid in next to you, your thighs pressed flush against another.
You hooked your foot around his ankle, too tired to pretend you didnât want to steal every sort of touch heâd allow you to get away with in your sleepy states. You found he made it quite easy.
Few words were shared during the dinner, the food so good Viktor had to warn you to slow down.
âWho taught you to cook like this?â You were surprised, because he had opted for quicker meals while at the Academy, too engrossed in his work to waste time on such necessities as a well-cooked meal.
âMy mother,â he answered softly. âYears ago, I would return home each week from the Academy to tell her about my work with Professor Heimerdinger. She would always cook for me.â You looked at him as he reminisced, somewhat melancholy. âThe smell reminds me of her. Vegetables and spice and stock.â He turned his gaze to you now, his eyes adoring amber. âShe would have liked you.â
Your elbow knocked against his as you shied away from the kind words, swirling your food with your spoon.
âYou think so?â
âI know so,â he said with certainty, âbecause you make me happy.â He then poked your thigh, aiming for a lighter tone. âEven if you are clingy. Like a kitten.â
âIâm not clingy,â you stated with defiance, despite the fact that youâd all put burrowed into him.
Viktor smiled. âDo not mistake my comment for complaint. I⊠quite like it.â
Your back straightened at his words, the grip on your spoon tightening. Viktor cursed himself internally for letting the secret of his affections slip. Always in moments where he wanted to reassure you, he couldnât help himself from tipping his hand to show you his cards were all hearts.
âIâm not like this with everyone, you know.â It seemed you didnât know how to keep a secret, either.
âI know.â
After dinner, you sat on the porch, watching the rainy night with Viktor. You laid against his chest, his square thumbs massaging the wrist and palm of your dominant hand, which ached from the repetitive motions of your work.
âIt is too bad such devoted hands cannot be mended with oil and tightening screws.â Viktorâs breath tickled the shell of your ear as he spoke. âFlesh and tendon is so difficult to work with.â
You melted against him, nestling your face against the side of his neck. âStill feels nice.â
âIâm glad you think so,â he replied, a smile in his voice.
The post-dinner relaxation gave way to a familiar pull of sleep, but when it came time to return to bed, you lingered in the doorway, pleading eyes pulling Viktor up from where he had been preparing to read on the couch.
He curled a finger against the underside of your jaw, stroking up and down. You pressed your mouth into a line and tilted your head at the man.
âDoes this sleepy kitty need company?â
You tugged at the drawstring of his pants in response, and he relented, snatching up his book and settling into bed beside you, reading glasses perched on the edge of his angular nose.
âThe reading light wonât keep you awake?â
You made a small noise to suffice as a âNoâ before curling into him, your hand sliding under his shirt, coming to rest on the tuft of hair beneath his bellybutton.
Viktor reread the same sentence about a dozen times before he realized he wouldnât be able to focus with you touching him like that. Still, he tried, until the sinking pillows pulled him into the same delightful dreams you dwelled in.
It seemed in his sleep, he had lost control of his limbs. Viktor awoke to an entanglement he couldnât possibly hope to free himself from.
Your thigh was trapped between his, one of your arms pinned underneath him. Viktorâs nose brushed yours as he raised his head from the pillow, surveying the situation.
The movement caused you to curl into him further, a satisfied huff tumbling from your soft lips.
Viktor gave up any notion of getting out of bed, conceding to his fate.
The second time he woke, you were bending over him, placing a sweet kiss on his forehead. He shut his eyes quickly, pretending he was still asleep.
You were greedy and sought another stolen kiss, this time atop the beauty mark below his eye, your lips a fluttery feeling against his cheekbone.
Viktor waited patiently, silently urging you to give the same treatment to the mark above his top lip. He sucked in a breath as he felt your weight shift on the mattress, considering it as you hovered above him.
Then the springs creaked, his hopes dashed as you instead decided to get up.
You were eager to repay the favour of last nightâs dinner with breakfast in bed, but before you could step away, a warm hand had shot out, curling around your forearm.
âGood morning,â you greeted, Viktorâs unfocused eyes drinking in your form.
âWhere do you think you are going?â He asked, the rasp in his voice causing something within you to shudder.
You lowered you voice to a conspiratorial whisper. âItâs a secret.â
Viktorâs sleepy smile almost convinced you to stay. But you were determined to do something nice for him, after heâd organized the perfect getaway and treated you to such lovely cuddles all night.
âStay here,â you told him, and reluctantly, his grip weakened, his hand falling empty as you walked away.
After five minutes of trying to be patient, he missed you too much, making his way to the kitchen.
âVik,â you tutted as he came up behind you, hands sliding down your arms indulgently. You turned around, holding the spatula up threateningly.
âA fearsome weapon. Is it meant to scare me off?â
âYes.â
Viktor wrapped his hand around yours, easily stealing it from you.
âHey!â You complained, but there was a laugh in your voice. Viktor took over pancake flipping duty, if only out of guilt for ruining your plans to serve him in bed.
You gave up, pressing your forehead to his back. Your hands naturally found their way under the hem of his sleeping top, thumbs feeling out the bolts in his spine, tracing them with such fondness that Viktor struggled to remember how to breathe.
âHow does your hand feel?â He asked, trying to maintain some semblance of composure.
âLike it needs more attention.â
Viktor smirked as you pushed your hand through the gap between his waist and arm, letting your arm dangle in his line of sight. He took hold of it and pushed circles into your palm with his thumb while he flipped the pancakes. It proved more difficult than he had anticipated.
Breakfast was eaten back in bed, as you had insisted, the entanglement now only limited to weaved legs. The dawning day beckoned, and as much as you both wouldâve liked to remain underneath the covers, you both found the motivation to get dressed and ready to explore the town and beaches.
The dirt track that led you out of your blissful solitude was now dotted with puddles from last nightâs storm. The sky still held a hint of grey, but luckily the clouds had mostly dissipated, giving way to a clearer day.
Your shoes squelched in the mud as you stepped out, turning back and waiting for Viktor as he locked the front door. When he turned to you, he froze at the look you were giving him.
âDo I have something on my face?â
He looked absolutely divine. Being outside of Piltover, outside of the Academy, seemed just as good for him as it was for you. The leather strap of his bag crossed over his chest, atop a teasingly sheer white button down. Heâd pushed his reading glasses up into his hair, a stray strand falling against his forehead. You adored him.
âOh,â he noticed your gaze and tapped his head, quickly taking the glasses off and pushing them into his bag.
He reached you before you could fathom a reply. âLetâs hope the rain does not catch us out,â he spoke, unaware of the way your enamoured heart had caused a short-circuit in your brain. He was amused at the stunned expression you wore, reaching up to tap on a large leaf above your head, causing cold droplets to fall upon your face.
You released a shocked laugh, giving him a light shove. He regained his balance, his walking stick tucked firmly under his arm.
The trees glistened with suspended water drops, and you curiously tapped against a few before you stuck your tongue out, eager to taste how fresh the water was. The remnants rolled over your lips as you turned back to Viktor.
âYou should taste it. Itâs exactly like the clouds.â
Viktor stepped forward, a large hand cupping your jaw as he dipped his head. His mouth was against yours in an instant, stealing your breath. He took advantage of your parted lips, his tongue delving into your mouth.
When he pulled back he was pink-cheeked and wearing a wobbly smile.
âYes,â he stammered, unable to focus on either your eyes or lips, his gaze flitting between them, âIt does.â

203.
Callum and Rayla get married just after they turn twenty-one.
Honestly, Ezran's surprised they waited so long. Callum's been of marrying age since all the things that went down with Aaravos, and they know it isn't over, they know he'll be back, and if it were Ezran, he'd want to make the most of it of the time they have. The only reason they managed last time was because of the Archdragons, and now there are none left but Zym. There's no guarantee they'll be as lucky when he returns.
The knowledge hangs over all of them, a never-lifting cloud of uncertainty, a promise that this peace won't last.
He tries to tell himself that it doesn't matter. The only thing that should tonight is Callum and Rayla and they are happy and in love. Ez tries to bask in it, in the glow of the candles as the evening sun sets, in the music and the laughter as they dance across floor, but the thought is always there, always present, a clock that ticks and ticks and ticks that he can't unhear.
"You look troubled, Your Majesty."
Ez glances up. Aanya is there, a wine glass in hand, her smile soft but understanding.
He chuckles awkwardly. "Who me? I'm never troubled."
"You're a terrible liar, Ez," says Aanya drily, but she chuckles too and raises her glass. "I can leave you be if you like. You just looked lonely over here and my conversation partner was stolen away." She nods at the floor and Ez bites back a laugh when he spots Opeli waltzing with Soren, of all people.
"No," he says, smiling into his own glass. "Stay. I like having you around. It's just... This all feels short-lived, y'know? I know we like to think we won against Aaravos but we all know we just stalled him. He'll be back in a few years, and what then? What are we gonna do?"
Aanya snorts ruefully and takes a sip from her glass. "I don't know," she admits quietly. "His return affects all of us, and all this work..." She sighs. "I'm scared too," she says after a moment. "I think you'd be foolish not to be. But that doesn't mean we can't let ourselves be happy now. Look at your brother. Look at how happy he is to be in love. Do you think he's not scared as well?" She points a finger at the crowd of dancers and Ez spots them: Callum and Rayla tucked against each other, their smiles soft and full of joy.
Ezran sighs, wishing he knew how to enjoy this the way they are. Wishing he knew how to forget. But then Aanya touches his hand and his breath rushes out, her gentleness a comfort against the shadows hanging over them all.
"What are you drinking?" she asks after a moment.
"What? Oh." He flushes. "Just water. I didn't think... I'm not old enough to drink what everyone else is."
Aanya snorts at him, and Ez blinks and peers into her glass.
He gasps. "You're not either."
"I'm a queen," she says shrugging. "Who's going to stop me? Come on. Let's get you something a bit more fun."
Ez stutters a little. Then he laughs. "You're a terrible influence, Your Majesty."
"Only on some days," chuckles Aanya. "Just because we're monarchs, doesn't mean we can't enjoy yourselves, even if it's just for tonight."
She tugs him away and Ez laughs as he lets her, the shadow growing smaller in his mind for the first time in weeks.
Just one night. He can allow himself that.

a dive into Tillâs feelings regarding Ivan and Mizi!
ivantillâs whole thing is being INSANELY complicated. i am a full on believer that they have mutual (unrealized) feelings, but i think the word âloveâ is definitely too vague to properly describe what they have. vivinos said a âdeep LOVE/HATEâ relationship for a reason.
i think till both genuinely feeling love for ivan yet hating him at the same time is absolutely reasonable. ivan has pushed and pulled till his whole life. till never felt secure near ivan, as much as he cares about him. but, ivan was always there. till felt comfort with ivanâs presence despite the lack of security he gave. till heavily valued ivanâs opinion, getting upset when ivan implied he didnât see till as a friend. he trusted ivan enough to attempt to run away with him, and he potentially would have spent the rest of his life with ivan if they actually escaped.
i while love mutual love ivantill as much as the next guy, saying their feelings were 100% romantic is wrong. their emotions towards one another being so raw is something that defines them, which is why itâs difficult to put their mutual feelings into a specific box.
another thing we need to take into account is that neither of them know what love really is. they inhabit a world that isnât MEANT for humans to love. they were never taught what love is and how to feel it. this is part of the reason they could never develop properly. they live in a world where the concept of romance and relationships arenât properly established between humans.
but, i do believe like they couldâve had a chance under different circumstances. they were a slowburn that was never able to properly develop because, again, they lived in a world that didnât allow them to, and they both ruined things for themselves. ivan had a huge tendency to self sabotage because of his severely low self esteem. he convinced himself that his feelings were shallow, and projected that onto till through his actions, confusing and distressing the latter. in addition, till was avoidant of the reality in front of him, ivan. due to till feeling such a lack of security with ivan, and never being able to understand ivan, he avoided intimacy with him altogether. till also just has a fear of intimacy in general. there was a significant amount of miscommunication between both parties.
in addition, saying that till didnât love mizi is just. false. he dedicated all of his life to her, she was literally his muse. he loved her in his own way, even if he had to put her on a pedestal to do so. yes, he didnât know anything about her as a person, but that doesnât mean his feelings werenât real. saying he never truly loved her undermines so much of his character.
mizi was tillâs coping mechanism, yes. he adored her from a distance. he liked the idea of her and not her as an individual, but that doesnât make his feelings any less real. he loved and cared for her. we saw how torn he was after mizi disappeared in round 5. he almost DIED because of his grief, before ivan âsavedâ him. his feelings towards her were as authentic as they could be for someone who kept everyone at a distance.
while you could say tillâs love for mizi isnât inherently romantic, the same can be said for ivantill. nothing stated in the patreon confirmed what EXACTLY till felt towards mizi besides her being a fantastical figure to him. and his âloveâ towards ivan doesnât HAVE to be romantic (even though i believe it is), it could very much be platonic. vivinos is purposefully vague with what kind of love each character feels because, as i said, feelings arenât something that can be properly established in this universe.
hope u guys enjoyed my rant Yay đč

Gently, Please
Summary: Jayce is at a breaking point now that heâs on the council, he wasnât expecting all of this responsibility put onto him. He goes to the place (and the person) that puts him most at ease.
Authorâs Notes: For some reason I struggled with this one and I wasnât really sure why. I feel like theyâre a bit OOC, but you guys can judge that or let me know if Iâm overthinking it. đ€ I feel like I write a lot of angst/comfort tickles, someone should tell me to write some sass with Jayce and Viktor one day, I feel like itâd be fun.
Thanks to the anon for giving me this prompt! I hope you like it. :)
Words: ~1,300 | AO3 Link
Jayce couldn't take much more.Â
He missed being in the lab with his partner. Being in the council was fine, he supposed. It gave him a lot of opportunities to help with their Hextech research outside of the lab. Getting investors and funding really helped.Â
But honestly? He'd rather be in the lab.Â
That's how he always felt - he wasn't used to telling others what to do, wasn't used to all this responsibility. He needed a break, even for an afternoon.Â
And that's what he intended on doing as he made his way to the lab - his second home - pushing the doors open upon entry.
Viktor was working away - as usual, he practically lived here - his back turned to Jayce. As Jayce approached, he could see Viktor was messing with⊠some sort of new device at the workbench.Â
The sound of Jayceâs footsteps alerted Viktor, resulting in him swivelling around in his chair, pushing his goggles up to his forehead.Â
âHello, stranger,â he commented, looking Jayce up and down. âI haven't seen you in a while - mm, how are things with the council?â
Jayceâs expression changed to something troubled. âIt's a lot to take in. I'm not used to all of this. If I'm being honest, I'd rather be here.â
âWould you be comfortable talking about it?â Viktor enquired, using his cane to lift himself off his seat, and then lifting himself to sit up on the workbench, waving a hand to offer Jayce his seat.Â
Jayce sat down, the chair bouncing a little as he lowered his weight on it.Â
âI didnât ask to be on the council. I know thereâs a lot of benefits to it. For our research, for me, for you. This is all new to me, though.â Jayce leaned over, laying his head down on Viktorâs lap, the other placing a loving hand gently on his head. âIâm a symbol - an icon now. Iâm the Man of Progress, making Piltoverâs future brighter. But itâs a lot of responsibility I didnât ask for.â Jayce let out a sigh as he finished speaking.
âItâs a lot to take on, thatâs why I try to not be in the public eye,â Viktor spoke, carding his fingers through Jayceâs hair. Viktor knew it soothed him in times of heavy stress. âI apologise for that. Perhaps if I did, you wouldnât be bearing this feeling all alone.â
âNo, Vik, itâs fine. I wouldnât want you to feel uncomfortable having so many eyes on you,â Jayce moved one of his hands to rest on Viktorâs knee. âI just have to bear it. For us, for our work. For our Hextech dream.â
âIâm always in the lab if you need someone to discuss this with, Jayce. All you need to do is ask, and I will always assist you when you need it.â
âIâm grateful youâre on my side, Viktor.â Letting out a relieved sigh, Jayce closed his eyes. âItâs good to get things off my chest. Though, it didnât make me feel as good as I thought it would.â
âMm, Is there anything I can do to make it better perhaps?â Asked Viktor, his fingers tangled in Jayceâs hair.
Jayce thought for a moment. Well, he noticed there was always something Viktor would do for Jayce whenever he was stressed out. He always struggled to find the words to ask, thoughâŠÂ
âCan you do⊠that thing?â Asked Jayce, craning his head so he could look up at Viktor.
Viktor raised a questioning eyebrow. âThat âthingâ?â
âYeah, you know, that thing you always do whenever I'm stressed out of my mind⊠or when Iâm annoying you too much.â
Viktor tilted his head in confusion at first. He had to flip through his memory for this one.Â
Whenever Jayce was being stubborn or particularly irritable, mainly when Jayce was running low on sleep, Viktor had a few tricks up his sleeve to try to make Jayce relax. Sometimes, he had to pull out the big guns⊠ah, he remembered.Â
Jayce wanted Viktor to tickle him. He realised Jayce had the most roundabout way of asking for it, thoughâŠ
âEhh, you can use your words, you know.â Viktor had to tease Jayce just a little with a chuckle.Â
Jayce moved his hand to cover his eyes with the back of it, his cheeks a little red from the conversation. âIt's embarrassing⊠it makes me feel weak. But I never seem to mind whenever you do it.â
Viktorâs hand trailed from Jayceâs head to the nape of his partnerâs neck, scribbling his fingers against the skin. âWell, how could I decline?â
Jayce was already starting to crack up from the small simple touch alone. âAhaha, can you justâ hehehe, be gentle?â
Viktor scoffed at that. âArenât I always?â
âYeheheah, but extra gentle thihihis time.â Was Jayceâs giggly request.
âWhatever you say.â Gently pushing Jayceâs head so Viktor could slide off the bench, he propped his cane off to the side so he could use both hands. He reached forward, gently wiggling his fingers against Jayceâs sides.
Jayce was already giggling, even more so now. He reached out and latched his hands on Viktorâs wrists, but made no attempt to move his hands away. In fact, it was to keep Viktorâs hands in place. Viktorâs hands moved up to gently squeeze at Jayceâs ribs, causing Jayce to throw his head back and laugh.
âYou know⊠mhm, whenever you want this, you can just say the word. You donât have to bug me while Iâm trying to concentrate. And you donât have to beat around the bush when youâre upset, you understand? Even without saying it directly, I can always tell when youâre in a mood⊠for this.â Viktor wanted to know Jayce was safe to tell him these things.
Jayce nodded his head in reply, scrunching up his nose when Viktor hit a particularly sensitive rib. Viktor always liked to watch his face change whenever he tickled him. He looked different with a carefree smile stretched across his face.
Viktor started to slow down, figuring that Jayce had had enough. He pulled his hands away, placing them on his hips instead. âHow was that? Did it make you feel better?â
Jayce was slowly catching his breath, even gently tickling took his breath away. âYehehes, thank you, VâŠâ he gazed up at Viktor with a smile, getting up from the chair.Â
âItâs definitely a strange thing to ask to make yourself feel better⊠but it makes sense when itâs you, somehow. Very odd, but endearing.â Viktor gently teased and gave a small smile.
Jayceâs heart nearly leapt out of his chest at Viktorâs comments, his face growing more beet red. âAhem, anyway⊠before anyone starts looking for me, why donât I help you out for a while? Knowing Mel, sheâll start wondering where I am.â
âOf course, Iâd be pleased. You havenât been in the lab for quite a while now. I appreciate the assistance, and the company.â
They both wandered over to the blackboard to discuss some new ideas for Hextech. They could be lab partners for a little while longer.
He really missed this.

The Pirate King of the North: Part 9
Bonus panels for some extra backstory.
Main Themes: Villain Sanji, Alternate Universe, Zosan Ship
Warning: Long post ahead with One Piece spoilers. Contains strong language and explicit content.
Part 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9
That night, the swordsman makes a last minute decision to rectify things with the blonde. He figured that there's no point in delaying as this might be the only chance they get to talk one-on-one before they get stuck in Skypiea with Law for however long they need to be up there. Since his cocktail-making skills are apparently subpar at best, he thought he'd turn to doing something else that he hopes Sanji would like before he pops the questionâabout the name, he reminds himself. Whatever it is, it will need to be something incredible to make up for the shame of not knowing something so simple about the man after all the years theyâve known together.
He thinks about quickly jumping off to collect some flowers in Jayaâs South Grove, but he is met by Jean Bart who drags his sorry feet back inside. The large man assigned himself on âZoro dutyâ, not wanting the Warlord to get lost the night before he needed to depart with their captain. Apparently they had pissed him off enough already that day.
Zoro turns to the kitchen to try and find Sanji's favourite snacks, and maybe sneak away with a couple bottles of wine to help set the mood. Unfortunately he bumped into Hakugan and Uni who are guarding the door, ready to strike him down should he set foot inside the room. They give him a powerful performance of their martial arts prowess as a gentle reminder that he's banned from the place, warning him that theyâre not afraid to put their lives on the line to enforce Lawâs rules. When he tried to ask for their assistance to go and fetch what he needed, they both turned him away, thinking that he's just trying to distract them so he can do whatever evil thing he apparently was set out to do.
His last option was the library. Heâs not much of a reader but he figured he would try because he knew of Sanjiâs love for knowledge and books. He wants to read a story or two with him to see if thatâs something they would enjoy doing together. Sadly, when he arrives, he is met by the Grand Lineâs most impatient doctor who is currently studying the Skypiea map with Bepo at the polar bearâs drafting table, trying to come up with a plan of action for when they get there in the morning. Not wanting to be distracted or have the library wrecked the way Zoro did with the kitchen, Law used his Room ability to teleport him out of there before he could even get a chance to grab something off the shelves.
Having no other options left, Zoro resorts to the idea of giving the blonde mind-blowing sex. He would worship him like the king he is and he would do it all night if the other man demanded it so. The swordsman figured it's probably the safest bet anyway while theyâre in the early honeymoon phase of their relationship. Sanji is highly skilled in that area for a very good reason.
He makes his way to their bunkroom. Under the door, he sees that the dim light of the desk lamp is still on. Finally, things are looking up. He thinks to himself that nowâs the perfect chance to make a move while Sanji is probably still up reading at this hour as usual.
Until he hears a couple of familiar voices on the other side of the door. They were muffled, but their identities were clear.
Sanji
âŠAre you sure that you're okay? I don't know how effective it is with the front broken like that.
Niji
Dunno. It's likeâŠhaving mood swings. The sensation goes in and out. It's a bit weird.
Sanji
I need you to get it fixed first then. And while you're at it, drop off the new stones at the lab.
I'm not sending you in until you're all good.
Niji
I can still fight.
Sanji
I'm not letting you take the risk until your helmetâs fixed, Niji. That's my final word. Youâre on your own with this next mission and I need you to be able to make good calls.
Another pang of guilt hits the swordsmanâfor not being careful enough and wrecking the commanderâs helmet, and for eavesdropping for as long as he has so far. He starts walking backwards, and was about to turn his heel and move somewhere else to give them privacy when Sanjiâs voice pierced through the door.
Sanji
Hey, Mosshead! Don't be a creep and get in here.
Zoro flinches, and silently curses the blondeâs mastery of his observation haki. He doesn't want to make things look worse than it already is so he opens the door awkwardly. He's met by two pairs of eyes.
Sanji is leaning with his palms against the desk while Niji is sitting on the chair, fiddling with the blonde's claw gauntlet on the table. It looks like there's two now. From afar, Zoro could tell that their blades are longer, sharper and more dangerous than the last. The metallic scale armour that covered the glove is a new addition, having only just durable leather holding everything together before.
Niji
Spying on us, are we?
Zoro grits his teeth, throwing the blue-haired man an annoyed look.
Sanji
This is also his room, Commander.
Niji tuts disapprovingly then resumes his work on the claw gauntlet.
Zoro
I didn't want to interrupt. Iâll just head out for some fresh air.
Sanji
You didn't interrupt anything. The commander was just showing me his handiwork. Heâll be done soon! I just needed a couple of fitting adjustments done and weâre all set.
Niji
Hmm⊠no. Now that I think about it, this will take a bit longer than I thought.Â
Sanji
What? But you saidâ
Niji
Whoops.
As if done on purpose, a buckle disassembles itself in Nijiâs hands. Little bits of metal scatter on the desk.
Sanji
Youâre such an ass. Fine. Stay here, hog the room. I donât care. Letâs go, Marimo.
Niji
No, I need you to stay here so we can refit it. Because the buckleâs broken now.
Sanji
You broke it!
Niji
And I need to fix it but I can only do that if youâre here. So, stay.
Sanji
I will actually pluck your eyeballs out one of these days, Commander.
Sanji stomps out the door, grabbing Zoroâs arm along the way.
Niji
Where are you going? We need to get this done tonight before you head off first thing!
Sanji
Iâll be back!
Zoro and Sanji walk arm-in-arm quietly to the deck of the ship. They were met by Jean Bart who was about to tell off Zoro for being outside, but the blonde reassured the large man that he has eyes on him, promising to keep the grumbling swordsman out of trouble. Happy with the response, the Heart Pirate retires inside for the night.
Zoro
Isnât the whole point of me being here is to keep an eye on you?
Sanji chuckled heartilyâmusic to the swordsmanâs ears.
Sanji
I know. What the hell happened to us?
They proceeded to the bow of the ship and settled themselves against the railing. It was quiet and serene. The crescent moon is up, revealing the dark silhouette of Jaya island on the horizon. Above, stars shone brightly across the span of the night skyâits reflections twinkled playfully on the still waters of the ocean below.
Sanji
Youâre awfully quiet.
Zoro tears his gaze away from the scene. He looks next to him where the blonde has a hand wrapped around his arm and finishing a cigarette with the other.
Sanji
You usually are, but your silence isâŠlouder somehow.
The swordsman rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. Suddenly heâs not so sure what to say and how heâd ask the big question. He wanted to get this far tonightâtried many times to set up the scene better but to no avail. He also didnât realise how he would feel right in the thick of things.
Zoro
Thereâs been a lot in my mind. Sorry.
Sanji
Never apologise for thatâŠbut whatever it is, I could tell that itâs eating you up.
Zoro sighs and returns his gaze to the island on the horizon.
Sanji
Is this because you had a fight with my brother?
Zoroâs eyebrows shoot up.
Zoro
Did heâ?
Sanji
He didnât have to. His helmet's busted and donât think I havenât noticed your little injury on your forehead, damn Mosshead. If you donât take care of your head, how will you be able to photosynthesize?
Zoro scowls at the mockery.
Sanji laughs lightly, kissing the swordsman on the cheek as a way of reassuring him that itâs just a joke. After noticing that his attempt to release the tension didnât work, he speaks in a slightly more serious tone.
Sanji
Did he try to scare you away? Is that why youâve been avoiding me all night?
Zoro shakes his head.
Sanji
Donât freak out or anything but⊠youâre not the first that heâs done that to. I can tell him to back off if you want.
Zoro
No⊠itâll take a lot more than that to get me to leave your side, Curls.
The blondeâs expression softens.
Zoro
Though, I didnât mean to make you feel like I was trying to avoid you. I spent hours⊠ages⊠trying to plan this whole thing for us tonight but I feel like whatever I doâŠ
The swordsman gets flashbacks of all the times heâd slashed and stabbed the man. He remembers cursing his way repeatedly for attempting to propose to him for the umpteenth time. He recalls their first kissâhow the first thing that came out of his mouth was to tell him to not kill the Celestial Dragon, and because of that, it nearly cost him his life. In fact, he might have permanently if not for their skillful doctor. He remembers the way the blonde held onto the liberated family from Sabaody. How, even in his critical condition, he fought from fully succumbing into sleep just to make sure that everyone was okay as they fled from the Pacifistas.Â
And now, with a seemingly easy task of organising a romantic night, the swordsman canât even do such a simple thing for him.
Zoro clenches his fists against the wooden railing.
Zoro
I canât seem to do anything right by youâŠ. I just feel like everything that I do is not good enoughâor just flat out hurts you. And right now, I have nothing but myself to offer. For whatever that's worth.
Sanji
ZoroâŠ
Zoro shifts so heâs looking at Sanji face to face then holds both of his hands in his, making the other man drop his cigarette. The determined fiery look in his eye makes the blonde jump in surprise.
Zoro
Curls, I want to get to know you better.
Sanji
Uhâsure!
Zoro
Whatâs your favourite food?
Sanji
Uhm⊠letâs seeâŠ
Zoro
If you had all the money in the world, where would you go?
Sanji
Oh Mellorine, I do have all the monâ
Zoro
How long does it take to get there?
Is that where you want to go for our first date?
Is shopping your thing? I'm not good with that stuff but I could ask Nami or Robin for advice.
If weâre going on holiday, can we do it alone first or would you prefer bringing your family along?
How many kids do you want to have?
Sanji
MARIMO!
Sanji thinks that heâs about to go crazy. His face is all red, he feels hot up to his ears and his heart is pounding so much like it's going to burst out of his chest. The swordsmanâs sweetness and thoughtfulness overwhelms him with joy. He starts laughing out loudâin a way that heâs never laughed before, ignoring the slight ache from his recent surgery. He thinks that if he breaks stitches this way, so be it, because heâs never felt his chest so light and heart so full. He felt so happy that he could fly.Â
The swordsman looked confused and offended from all the unhinged laughter like he was being made fun of.
Sanji cups Zoroâs face into his hands, trying his best to recover from his outburst.
Sanji
I didnât realise that you needed to know everything now!
Zoro looks down to his lips, watching that attractive smile that heâs always drawn to.
Zoro
I just⊠I really wanted to⊠toâŠ
Sanji pulls him in to claim his mouth with his. He pushes Zoro roughly against the railing, determined to show the swordsman how much he appreciates him at that very moment. He slides his hand up and down the manâs body, massaging, caressing and feeling everything that he could lay his hands on. He wants to show his love and admiration to the man by worshipping every part of him. Zoro was more than happy to reciprocate the affection.
They stayed like that for what seemed like a lifetime. Regrettably, Sanji pulls himself away from the most passionate kiss he's ever had in his life so he could breathe. He kept his body close as he panted.
Zoro leans in and continues his assault on his lipsâbiting and sucking hard then giving them soothing licks to ease the arousing painânot wanting for everything to stop so soon. Between breaths, the blonde speaks.
Sanji
We have our entire lives to get to know one anotherâŠ. Whatâs your rush, Marimo?
Zoro freezes at that, blinking his eye. Then for the first time that night, he smiles his genuine toothy smile.
Zoro
I guess we do, donât we?
Sanji scoops up one of his rough hands and gives it a tender kiss on the calloused knuckles.
Sanji
I want to savour every moment of thisâof us, okay? Right now, itâs just you, me⊠and this.
Sanji gestures at the scene in front of them, then swings his hand around to point out the environment surrounding themâthe bright moon, the calm waters and the clear starry skies.
Sanji
Nothing else matters.
Zoro looks into his wide blue eyes. They're positively glowing a lot more so than usual tonight. He wraps his arms around the man and leans his forehead on his, kissing the bridge of his nose. The blonde was correctânothing else mattered. It felt right to be there. In his heart, he decides to make it a mission to spend every waking moment to prove that he's worthy of his trust, even if it takes a lifetime for him to open up and tell him his real name. He would not demand it that day. He thinks that if he truly deserved it, the blonde will share it to him in time at his own volition. They do have a lifetime to get to know one another, after all.
The swordsman had lost a gamble with Nami that night. Heâll have to remember to send the navigator a couple hundred Beri through the post somehow for betting on him falling in love that year.
â
At a far distance, hidden in the thick mist of the sea, a particularly tall and lanky Warlord watches the blonde and his green-haired companion through the lens of his spyglass. With a flick of his wrist, he retracts the telescope and tosses it to a dark silhouette of a man.
Stranger
Now's the perfect time. Letâs do it.
Doflamingo
HmmâŠno. I want to savour⊠every⊠moment of thisâŠ.
He lets out a deep chuckle.Â
Doflamingo
Besides, I have another job for you. But thatâs tomorrowâs problem.
You are dismissed.
He waves off the man, and the figure walks off. Doflamingo stands from the comfort of his chair and takes a few long strides to the bow of the ship, never taking his eyes off the small dot on the horizon that is the Polar Tang.
Doflamingo
Iâm grateful you showed us the way, Pirate King. You never fail me, do you?
âŠSanji.
----------
I had way too much fun with those panel drawings. (Honestly part of it was me trying to find an excuse to draw more dofsan lol)
If it's not obvious yet, I try to line up certain things about this Sanji and canon Sanji. Instead of him being exclusively in love with mermaids, I like to think he loves all merfolk in this story.
Fukaboshi's always been the one on my mind as Sanji's "the one who got away" romance. I was rewatching Fish-man Island arc and I remembered how wise and noble he is, and has a great sense of responsibility to look after his family. I figured this Sanji would be attracted to those qualities.
Plus, you know, have you seen those big hands? Fwah~!

*.âčË RAFAYEL | paint (christmas special)
ââ ârafayel x fem!reader â mini one shot 1.3k words âRafayel prepares a Christmas gift that she has been waiting for for a long time. â author's note here | christmas specials from the rest of the LIs on my profile
"Rafayel? We have to go. Come on." She ran through the halls until she reached the front door, waiting her boyfriend to reach her a couple of seconds later. "I almost forgot dessert," she whispered to herself as she started walking to the kitchen.
Until Rafayel got in her way. She frowned in confusion and tried to step aside but it didn't work. "Can you move? I forgot dessert," she said, thinking it was one of his usual pranks.
"We can't go out." He said quickly, not really wanting to make too much of a fuss. He knew how excited his girlfriend was to be able to attend this meeting, and she had been waiting weeks for Rafayel to meet her friends.
"What are you talking about?"
"The streets are closed because of the storm." He grimaced and felt guilty as he saw her face turned into disappointment.
"What? But this morning I saw the news, it said thatâŠ" She didn't finish the sentence. She had seen the weather that morning, everything pointed to snow but other than that it was nothing serious. When it turned into a storm? "I can't believe it!"
She groaned and dropped her bag on the floor. She felt completely disappointed, it was almost midnight and although they were already too late for the meeting, she hoped to arrive in time to eat dessert, introduce Rafayel to her friends and spend a couple of hours there before going home.
"We can stay here. It won't be so bad." Rafayel's arms wrapped around her, after all they had already been there all day. They had planned to spend the afternoon together, doing things that according to her were Christmassy and they would close their night at her friends. It was just a small change of plans.
"But I wanted you to meet my friends," she murmured in disappointment, her voice muffled as she had her face buried in Rafayel's chest.
"I can meet them later. We'll have a meeting just for that." He hated seeing her so sad. He knew this meeting was important to her, but he couldn't just stop the storm with the power of his mind.
Half an hour later she was sitting on the living room floor. She was still wearing the clothes she had chosen to to go out that day and Rafayel was in front of her watching her take spoonfuls of the dessert she had made for her friends.
"It's not that bad. We can still open the presents here." Rafayel pressed his lips against his girlfriend's forehead. He didn't know what else he could do to cheer her up.
"It's not that, it's just⊠You know I hate it when plans change." She made a face and looked at him.
Rafayel smiled when he saw the cream of the cake dripping from the corner of her lips. He reached out and with his index finger he took the cream before it slipped from her lips and stained her clothes.
Yes, he knew perfectly well how much she hated it when her plans changed. Rafayel always thought it was something more than just a change of plans and there was something else in his girlfriend's head.
He looked away, starting to think of something he could do to make her feel better. Letting her just sit on the rug and eat that dessert seemed to have made her feel better but she still had that pout on her lips.
Then he remembered⊠There was a gift he had kept in his studio and he didn't really think about giving it to her yet, not as a Christmas present at least. It was something she had asked him for a long time ago and Rafayel had simply refused after giving her a reasonable explanation.
"I have something for you." She frowned as her boyfriend got up from the floor and walked down the hall where the bedrooms and his studio were.
"What is it?" She asked taking a spoonful of the dessert again, thinking that it was simply one of the gifts he had bought her despite all the times she told him that she didn't really need anything. Finally she felt like she had had enough of that dessert. It was too much sugar and she was beginning to feel her body's rejection of it, so she decided to simply put it aside and clean any trace of sugar from her mouth.
Rafayel came back into the room a couple of minutes later. He had something in his hands and he seemed⊠nervous? Why did he seem nervous about a simple gift? It wasn't that she didn't appreciate it, but unless it was a pregnancy test she didn't understand his nerves. She had started joking about it since she found out that in seahorses it was the man who carried the baby.
"Here it is." He placed a gift wrapped in green paper on her lap. She looked at him waiting for some explanation, she felt like she needed some context because it was something important. "Do you remember when we started dating you asked me what you had to do to make a painting of you?"
She nodded, she remembered it perfectly because she had insisted too much until Rafayel told her that he couldn't because he didn't feel capable of capturing her beauty. Her cheeks turned red just by remembering it.
Then something clicked in her mind⊠she parted his lips in surprise and turned to look at Rafayel waiting for him to say something. He just looked at her with a small smile on his lips.
She tore the gift paper as fast as she could. She could feel her heart beating hard, until⊠She couldn't believe what she was seeing. It was a painting, of her.
It meant much more than he thought. She had wanted so much a painting of her completely made by Rafayel, but after having refused she had simply given up and stopped asking.
"You⊠But I thoughtâŠ" She felt that the words were not coming out of her mouth. She turned to look at him waiting for something else, to explain the reason why he had decided that this was the perfect time to make a painting about her. Until she noticed something. "Where is this?"
She looked at him. She didn't recognize the background in the painting because it was focusing a bit more on her face but there was definitely some kind of cafe behind her.
"It was the first time I saw you. Do you remember?" She nodded. Of course she remembered because he had told her that story himself thousands of times.
"Of course I remember, it's just that⊠I can't believe it." She looked at him, feeling like she could cry at any moment. It was just a unique gift⊠too unique.
"I'm still think I didn't capture your beauty." She smiled. "I thought it would be a special gift. Much better than those boots you wanted."
She giggled. There were some nice black boots she had wanted a few weeks ago but had decided that it was a totally unnecessary expense.
"The boots would have been a nice gift too." Those words had come out of her mouth without thinking but in reality that gift was much better than any other. If Rafayel had simply bought the boots for her it would have been a great gift too. Anything that came from him was.
Rafayel laughed and put his arms around her to bring her closer to him. She still had her eyes on the painting he had made for her. It was her favorite painting now. "They're in the blue box," he murmured close to her ear.
She opened her eyes in surprise and looked at him. Had he bought the boots for her too? "Rafayel!"
He smiled at her excitement. He leaned in to press his lips against hers for a couple of seconds. "Merry Christmas, cutie."

skates and slips
and the christmas fics continue!!!! i haven't written this much since i was 12 on wattpad đ (don't look that shit up) that aside, i had sm fun writing this one even if itâs a little short, so enjoy <3
pairing: billie eilish x fem!reader
summary: it's hot in la, even during the one time of the year it's not supposed to be. to help it feel more like the holidays, you decide to go skating
warnings: implied girly/femme reader, cursing, just christmas fluff!!
word count: 1,882, should take about 14 and a half minutes to read
listen to: any christmas song fits here
YOUâVE ALWAYS LOVED christmas. ever since you were young, you enjoyed the festivities, lights, caroling, traditions, gifts, all of it. you just wish it could be a bit more like the movies.
you were laying on top of your girlfriend, billieâs chest. she was playing with your hair and watching whatever show was in front of her as you napped. 70° in the midst of december wasnât exactly enjoyable.
the heat made you sleepy, despite the industrial fan next to you blowing cold air on you. your head was burrowed in the crook of her neck, sweaty, sticky skin pressed against skin.
the show was interrupted with an ad break, a christmas themed commercial airing. the familiar tune playing made you envious. you just knew the commercial would have snow falling on the ground and youâd give anything to experience it.
billie could practically feel the loathing seep out of you. âyou okay?â she asked, tilting your chin to make you look in her eyes. you groaned.
âi want it to actually feel like christmas and not the middle of june.â she laughed softly at that.
âtrust me, baby, i do too. i do too,â she repeated the last few words.
it was the second day back after tour. when she was away, having the tree up and stockings hung really meant nothing when she wasnât there. having her back after tour made all the difference. but, regardless, the lack of any real chill in the air made you gripe.
you sighed. âwe might have to throw fake snow on the ground.â your girlfriend snorted.
âfake snow?â
âya!â she shook her head at your answer.
âthatâs gonna be like hell to clean.â
âwho caaaaaares?â you whined. âi just really want it to be likeâŠkind of like christmas.â billie understood your want. growing up and living in california her whole life, she never really got to experience a true, traditional christmas. but, thatâs when something clicked.
âyou knowâŠwe could go ice skating,â she suggested. you looked up at her.
"really? you'd want to?" the only reason you asked was you knew she didn't like to really be seen outside much. she nodded, a confirming, gentle smile on her face.
"ya. i'd want to." you sat up and leaned to capture her lips in a kiss. you felt her smile into it as her lips pressed against yours.
A LITTLE WHILE later, you were getting ready to leave. your outfit was made up of a black miniskirt, tights, and a simple white sweater. you were in the bathroom, applying your lipstick as billie waited eagerly on your shared bed. she'd already been dressed and ready to go ten minutes prior.
you fixed a couple things before shutting the lights off. you went to slip on some shoes in the closet as billie stood up. she walked next to you, leaning against the wall. âdressing to impress, i see.â
âyou know i donât mean anything by it. just wanna look nice for my girl, is that too much to ask?â
she shook her head, her classic smile on display. âyou donât gotta ask baby, not at all.â
you smiled up at her, toothy and wide. it made her wanna kiss all over your face and love on you, but she knew you had places to be.
she held out her hand for you to take as you stood up. you eagerly accepted it, feeling her cold rings clash with your warm skin.
shutting off the lights, you walked out of the room and the house and out to her car. as usual, she opened the door for you and you thanked her.
getting into the car, she put on her seatbelt and started the car. she pulled out of the driveway and started to make the drive to the ice rink.
the car ride was mostly filled with people watching everyone on the streets with the soft music of the radio in the background. it took you about fifteen minutes to get there.
billie parallel parked the car and quickly ran to the other side to open the door for you. she would never let you open it yourself.
you thanked her and gave her a kiss on the cheek, her face flushing pink in response. she couldnât help it; you were just her sweet girl.
you quickly went to pay at the monitor, billie arguing with her. âitâs okay, i got it.â
âno.â you placed a hand over hers. âlet me.â she huffed, but agreed, impatiently rocking on the balls of her face.
once you finished, you took her hand and walked down the sidewalk. like any day out, you both brought sunglasses and had on hats to hopefully hide your identities. it never always worked, but it did something sometimes.
the sounds of your shoes hitting the sidewalk and the bustle of the city were heard as you walked through downtown la. some people would walk by and turn their heads, doing a double take, but you kept walking, unaffected as billie squeezed your hand.
after a couple minutes of walking, you arrived at the ice rink. the outside was lit up, the sun casting a golden glow over the sky.
you both walked to the booth, waiting in a short line. after a few minutes of waiting, you approached the front. billie bought two admissions and got skates in your size, along with hers.
afterwards, she thanked the cashier and held your hand as you walked to a locker. billie helped you with your purse, placing it in the locker before she shut it, her own stuff in there as well.
you both found a place to sit and started to lace up your skates. you pulled the laces tight before you stood up. immediately, the blades caught you off balance and you fell over.
your girlfriend, who was busy lacing her own skates, had some sort of reaction go off. in a single second, she caught you, taking her attention completely away from the ice skate. she laughed softly as she hoisted you back to a standing position. ânot even on the ice yet and youâre already falling.â
you gave the sweetest pout, her heart melting at the sight. âitâs been a while, donât judge me.â
âiâm not,â she hummed as she finally finished tying her skates as well. she stood up, and just like you, stumbled forward. but, you werenât quick enough to catch her, leaving her catching herself with her hands on the floor.
as she stood up, you raised an eyebrow at her. âoh, and youâre the one to talk.â
she rolled her eyes playfully. âoh, you love me. come on, letâs go.â she beckoned you to follow her with her hand.
the two of you stepped onto the ice. you stood still, getting used to being on a slippery surface. billie seemed to have it down. for now, at least.
she skated a little ahead of you then turned around. âcome here, you got it!â
with full confidence, you pushed forward with your feet. but, instead of gently skating like you anticipated, you slipped and stumbled for a couple seconds before falling right on your ass.
immediately, billie laughed. hard. you looked up at her, faux anger on your face. âiâm in pain and youâre laughing at me! i hate you, youâre such a bitch!â
she kept laughing, tears staring to form under her eyes now. âoh- my god! how could you not laugh at that?!â she kept snickering as she reached down to help you up. you took her hand, but instead of being brought up, you fell right back down, slipping and bracing your fall with your hands.
this caused billie to laugh so hard, she needed to grab the railing for support. the whole time, your ego was minorly bruised. you stood up, dusting off your tights. âit wasnât even that funny.â
âoh, it was sooooo funny,â she replied with snark in her voice after calming down. âyou know what? let get you one of those walker things.â you immediately whined.
ânoooo, iâm gonna look like an idiot.â
she started to skate back to the entrance. âno you wonât!â
a few seconds later, she returned with an ice walker. she scooted it in front of you. âif you still fall with this, iâm never letting it go.â that definitely inspired you to do better.
slowly, but surely, you started to improve, making your way across the rink with gentle motions. billie was by your side the whole time, making sure you wouldnât slip and get too hurt.
you two skated, listening to the holiday songs, and for the first time this month, it finally felt like the holidays. people were laughing, the ice created a slight chill in the air, all was well.
billie looked to the side to see your happy, content expression. it made her feel proud inside herself. she loved seeing you like this. she knew this was a good idea.
the two of you continued to skate when suddenly, a kid came in front of you. he was pushing a sled, a kid his age on it. billieâs brain lit up. âshould we do that?â you spotted the kid in front of you. you shrugged.
âiâll fall if i push you,â you admitted honestly.
âthen i can push you. pleeeeease?â and of course, you could never say no to her. so, you agreed, and billie was off switching your walker for a sled.
when she came back, she dropped the sled on the ice and motioned you to sit on it. you obliged, pressing your knees to your chest. once comfortably settled in, billie pushed and you were off.
she wasnât fast by any means, but being on the ice was still fun. for the first time in a long time, you felt cold. being outside. it was spectacular.
after a couple laps, billie declared herself done. you called a break, getting up from the sled and putting it back for her.
as you put it away in the shed where it belonged, you spotted a concession stand. you were up for a little hot chocolate.
so, approaching your girlfriend, you asked her about it. she, of course, agreed as you walked to the concession stand.
both of you ordered piping hot chocolates and some festive pastries.
after thanking the worker, you walked to the dining area and found a spot to sit. you sat at a table that overlooked the ice rink. you sipped on your hot chocolate as you watched the people in front of you.
billie smiled as she watched you. âiâm glad we came here.â your head snapped back to hers. a smile of your own grew on your face.
âya. me too. thank you for suggesting it.â she nodded, resting her hand on your thigh.
âonly the best for my baby, ya?â you giggled and hid your head in her shoulder. you knew the next day paparazzi photos would go crazy. you knew you probably shouldnât have done this. but this was a life moment. one you wouldnât take back for the life of it. for now, you felt billieâs touch on your thigh and that was enough. it was perfect. the best christmas ever.

chapter 6 perfect match
something that you pride yourself on is your easygoing nature. you're nonchalant. you don't really care what people think of you. it was honestly relieving, to exist in peace and not stress over every minuscule interaction you have throughout the day.
now, though, that nonchalance was nowhere to be found. it was just mark lee, seriously, what was the big deal? sure, he would be inside of your apartment. sure, you're also so attracted to him you may or may not have already had your fair share of wet dreams that can never, EVER be mentioned around ten lee (you knew he would never let you live them down). it's not like you guys were going to go at it like rabbits. he was just a guy coming over to watch spiderman movies with you. no biggie.Â
a knock at the door startled you out of your thoughts. with one final glance at the mirror, you turned to welcome your (kind-of) drug dealer into your apartment. the door swung open to reveal mark lee, in all of his glory, carrying multiple grocery bags in either hand.
"hey, mark. i told you that you didn't need to bring anything." you reached out to take some of the bags from his hands, pointedly ignoring how domestic and natural it felt between the two of you to behave in such a way.Â
"i know, it just felt wrong to come empty handed. it's just some more snacks and some drinks haha" he toed his shoes off and fully entered your apartment, shutting the door behind himself. "thanks for having me over, by the way."
"don't say that yet, you might be begging to escape later" you glanced up at him with a smile on your face, finding the same expression mirrored on his own face "i get more serious about marvel than you might be prepared for."
"little do you know, i'm so serious about spiderman that it's been banned at our friend group's movie nights."
"sounds like we're the perfect match then."
you had both gathered small snack plates, filing into your bedroom (ohmygod mark lee in your bedroom. getting into your bed. holy shit. you did not think this part through). the deep breath that you had to suck in was mildly humiliating, but the way mark almost tripped over a stray cinnamoroll plush on the ground was more humiliating, so you took that as a win.Â
you felt comfortable with him. it wasn't necessarily surprising that you had managed to become so friendly with him in a short period of time, but it was surprising that you already wanted him this badly. you might need to stage an intervention for yourself, because there was no reason mark lee should look that good curled up in your bed, watching intently as tom holland flys across the screen.Â
you could see why these movies were banned in his friend group, with mark's frequent commentary and analyses cutting into the movie. if you weren't so obsessed with his voice and his semi-alarmingly in depth theories, you might have even been annoyed. instead, this was filed away in your brain as "top 10 cutest things mark lee has ever done."Â
you had a feeling you would be adding on to that list quite a lot in the coming weeks.

â±ËïœĄâ âȘ đ đđđ đ
đđđ . ( a collection of dialogue prompts from the film the hobbit : the desolation of smaug . adjust phrasing as necessary . )
this is no chance meeting , is it , [ name ] ?
take back your homeland .
what if i were to help you reclaim it ?
that's not the worst of it .
we have another problem .
what did i tell you ? quiet as a mouse .
will you just listen ? i'm trying to tell you there's something else out there .
the bear is unpredictable , the man can be reasoned with .
come away from there , it's not natural . none of it .
it's obvious , he's under some dark spell .
you'll be safe here tonight ... i hope .
we grow in number , we grow in strength .
death will come to all .
there are others like you ?
you're running out of time .
a darkness lies upon that forest .
i would not venture there except in great need .
go now while you have the light .
this forest feels ... sick . as if a disease lies upon it .
something moves in the shadows unseen , hidden from our sight .
if our enemy has returned , we must know .
i would not do this unless i had to .
you've changed , [ name ] .
you must stay on the path . do not leave it . if you do , you'll never find it again .
is there no end to this accursed forest ?
we're going around in circles , we are lost .
the sun . we have to find the sun .
we're being watched .
they're growing bolder .
not just a thief , but a liar as well .
i myself suspect a more prosaic motive .
i have seen how you treat your friends .
you turned away from the suffering of my people .
a hundred years is a mere blink in the life of an elf . i'm patient . i can wait .
did he offer you a deal ?
shh ! there are guards nearby .
you were supposed to be leading us out , not further back in !
are you mad ? they'll find us .
please . please , you must trust me .
this is not a nice place to meet .
why now , [ name ] ? i don't understand .
a human sorcerer could not summon such evil .
in our blindness , the enemy has returned .
the enemy is preparing for war .
i started this . i cannot forsake them , they are in grave danger .
you want me to cast my friends aside ?
i think we've outrun the orcs .
we've no weapons to defend ourselves .
do it again , and you're dead .
what makes you think i would help you ?
no doubt you have some hungry mouths to feed .
oh , come on - enough of the niceties .
i would like to know who you are . and what you're doing in these lands .
we need food , supplies ... weapons . can you help us ?
i'd wager there are ways to enter that town unseen .
for that , you'd need a smuggler .
there was more he could have told us .
i don't care what he calls himself , i don't like him .
we don't have to like him , we just have to pay him .
i've been bled dry by this adventure ! and what have i seen for my investment ?
if you value your freedom , you'll do as i say .
folk in this town are suffering .
you'd do well to remember ; we know where you live .
it's a small town , [ name ] , everyone knows where everyone lives .
who would have the nerve to question my authority ?
you promised us weapons .
death ! that is what you'll bring upon us .
have you forgotten what happened to [ name / location ] ?
let us not be so quick to lay blame .
join us when you're healed .
[ name ] , you belong with the company .
i belong with my brother .
we have no time to wait , we're on our own .
the evil that is hidden here ... i command it reveal itself .
you have keen eyes , [ name ] .
let all those who doubted us rue this day !
i know these walls ... these halls , this stone .
i do not know what you'll find down there .
it never ceases to amaze me . the courage of hobbits .
if there is in fact a live dragon down there , don't waken it .
come , now ... don't be shy . step into the light .
there is something about you , something you carry .
there you are , thief in the shadows .
i did not come to steal from you .
do you think flattery will keep you alive ?
what else do you claim to be ?
truly , you are mistaken .
you have nice manners , for a thief and a liar .
i know the smell and taste of dwarf .
they are drawn to treasure like flies to dead flesh .
did you think i did not know this day would come ?
you should leave us .
and go where ? there is nowhere to go .
the dragon , it's going to kill us .
i kill where i wish , when i wish .
my armor is iron , no blade can pierce me .
i need you to distract the guards .
time to do what , to get killed ?
yes , i'm afraid . i'm afraid for you .
you're not yourself .
the darkness is coming ... it will spread to every corner of the land .
you were only ever a means to an end .
i will not part with a single coin . not one piece of it .
your reputation precedes you .
you have no equal on this earth .
i think our little game ends here .
so tell me , thief ... how do you choose to die ?
we've given him the slip .
there may be a way out .
it's our only chance , we have to try .
i've heard tales of the wonders of elvish medicine .
that was a privilege to witness .
i will not die like this . cowering . gasping for breath .
if this is to end in fire , then we will all burn together .
perhaps it is time i paid them a visit .
this isn't their fault !
you care about them , do you ? good . then you can watch them die .
i am taking back what you stole .
you will take nothing from me .
i laid low your warriors of old . i instilled terror in the hearts of men .
this is not your kingdom . these are dwarf lands .
revenge ? revenge ?! i will show you revenge !
i am fire . i am death .
what have we done ?
