while the stables scene is a great example of percabeth's growth as a couple, particularly regarding their switch of roles in who plans for their future. an even better example is when they first told the other they loved them. annabeth, who is a well-respected strategist due to how well she can plan for the future, tells him as quickly as possible before something or someone could take him away from her again. she seized the first opportunity she had free of plan. percy, on the other hand, who is known for his impulsiveness and reckless planning, tells her two books later. not because he wasn't head over heels the entire hoo series. but because he was planning for the right moment. he wanted to wait until he could give her permanence and stability on a silver platter because he knows how much it means to her.

Danny squints up at the blurry form cradling him, brain trying to catch up with his situation. He can feel the pulse of his siblings’ cores nearby, gently pulsing contentedly despite the chaos of his last memories. His limbs feel too small and pudgy, too-small fingers gripping onto something as his vision started to clear. 

There was a man, holding him? Cradling his too-small form like he was an infant- was he an infant? He was pretty sure he wasn’t supposed to be, he had been older but now he wasn’t. He squinted up at the stranger, green eyes meeting green. Huh. They kind of looked like he could be their dad or something.

The message about Henry being the unsung hero possibly appearing in front of Lark during the final battle of season 1 is a little funny to me because Terry Jr. and Grant were both sitting near Lark to act as the navigator and backseat driver.

the romance element in pitbabe would have been off the charts if way was just the best friend in love, with low self esteem issues and heartache because of a decade of non reciprocated love and childhood trauma of being tony's son - the lack of morality was a compelling character arc and in alignment with the context of the show's racecar mafia stuff

but in romance, way being the tormented, unrequited lover until pete comes in and tries to enter way's heart. way, who is oblivious to him and shuns petes' love because he believes he is unworthy of love or is adamant on not falling for anyone else other than babe

Remembering I had a dream on Sonic Prime where the characters were placed in random locations and had wacky adventures (Sails and Black Rose were at a playground where they were chased by a monster). "why can't you be like your brother?" they would bemoan. I heard that line my entire childhood. they always compared me to him, the brat who couldn't talk and would jump at shadows. I couldn't achieve anything without being snubbed by my relatives. my grandfather despised me; I was 'a blight to the family name,' as he so delicately put it. he said many awful things about me, things a child should never hear or internalize. I was nothing. I came from nothing. I will amount to nothing. do not taint your brother with your rot. why couldn't I be like my brother... the golden child who escaped death, so beloved by my mother and stepfather? she was my mother, too. I deserved the same love as him, but she was ashamed of me. everyone rallied around him when he returned unscathed from the tragedy that robbed us of my—our mother. the adults never let him out of their sights after that. my grandfather was quick to take him under his wing... and me, as well. the bastard child. what's so egregious is that I'm also alive. does my battle with this disease not warrant the same kind of praise? of course not, I was supposed to be in the ground long before now, but what keeps me going is pure spite. I told myself as a child, during those hellish days in the manor, that I would prove the old man wrong someday, and all of my enemies would have to eat their words. sad thing is, my enemies are the ones who are supposed to take care of me, to guide me. instead they treated me worse than a dog. there's always something with this family. not that you would understand. you're like my brother. everything always came easy to him. he's a prodigy in everything he touches, and everyone adores him. my grandfather says he was born lucky—I was just lucky to be born. I don't need luck, though. I don't want it. I've always had to struggle and fight and that's made me strong... it's made me who I am.

Message: My name is Henry, and I came to Twisted Wonderland on 15 Feb. 2023. My favourite subject at Night Raven College is Animal Linguistics, and I think The Sorcerer of the Sands is the most admirable of the Great Seven. If I were to leave Ramshackle Dorm, I'd like to join Octavinelle. What I want most right now is a moment of calmness, maybe?, and my favourite part of Twisted Wonderland is learning about new places, things, and people.

Silly little Oz AU

I wanted to create something silly for Spooky Season, so I did.

Leonardo is not Dorothy. The idea is that this would be like an actual episode of the show; he'd get Wizard of Oz'd into, well, Oz, and the episode would play out like an abridged and heavily toned down version of the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900). Which in turn means that the others are not the other three Turtles, either. They are, however, styled after and voiced by the other three. So, instead of saying something like "Donatello", I'll either use "Donatello-as-the-Tin-Woodman" or simply "the Tin Woodman" (which of course also applies to the other two).

The idea of the Scarecrow, the most intelligent character in the main cast in the book, speaking like Michelangelo does in the show was too funny not to implement!

I imagine the dialogue in the scene where Leonardo and Kiki meet him would go something akin to:

“I'm going to the Emerald City to find the wizard to help me back to New York.” “You suppose that wizard dude could give me some brains?" "Yeah, I'm sure he can!" "Mondo tubuloso!”

Not sure if I want Leonardo to be outed as knowing the fact that the wizard is a fraud, though...

I put Leonardo in the silver shoes from the book, since I heavily doubt anyone would've cared for fighting MGM for the rights to use the ruby slippers. On Discord while sketching, we did joke that I could put him in silver Birkenstocks or ruby Crocs. Sadly, Crocs weren't invented until 2002 😔

I debated a lot who to cast who as. Leonardo in the role of Dorothy and Raphael as the Cowardly Lion were easy enough, but which one of the other two brothers to cast as the Scarecrow and Tin Woodman? Both Michelangelo and Donatello work for either, since the book characters' main traits are intelligence and empathy respectively, but I finally settled on the casting that I did. Like mentioned above, the Scarecrow with Michelangelo's speech pattern is absolutely hilarious, but I don't think that Donatello-as-the-Tin-Woodman's hilarity should be understated, either; especially since his canon name when he was human (turtle?) was Nick Chopper, which does fit Donatello's general strategy of repairing things in the TV show by hitting or kicking machines strangely well.

While sketching, I also joked that Raphael-as-the-Cowardly-Lion looks like Raphael just finished a Cats the musical rehearsal but hadn't told anyone and just got busted sneaking back into the Lair. I also accidentally coloured him piss yellow when I coloured the flats, which I suppose is fair. Yellow is actually a colour associated with cowardice (even though the Lion wasn't actually a coward at all, but we'll set that aside).

Speaking of colouring mishaps, when colouring the Tin Woodman's base colour, I decided to look up images of tin to find a good rough match. Well, it then hit me to double check whether tin actually does rust or not. And guess what, it doesn't. Thus, I got around the problem by making his bolts, screws and joints made of iron instead. He has to rust somehow; you cannot have a Wizard of Oz "adaptation" without [Dorothy] and the Scarecrow oiling him upon meeting him.

The Toto situation was a tricky one, since TMNT isn't really known for its prevalence of dogs. The only actual noteworthy canine characters I can think of in any iteration are Rahzar and Dogpound, and as funny as it would've been for me to cast Rahzar as Toto, truth be told I had honestly forgotten him and Tokka even existed in the cartoon. I briefly considered having April be Toto (somehow), but I refused to entertain that idea even more than I already had. Instead, I got around the Toto problem by just drawing a dog (here a Scottish terrier, like how I pictured Toto in my head) and then renaming it. And thus, Kiki! And I love her.

Also, fun fact, the Scarecrow actually wore blue in the book!
