This post discusses addiction & mentions related heavy topics.
The addiction comparison for what Laudna has going on with Delilah is certainly not 1:1. Most obviously, addictive substances & activities IRL are not sentient evil wizards who have found a way to cheat death (that we know of). Put more seriously: in-universe, warlocks exist all over and the relationships they have with their patrons don't necessarily evoke addiction; someone saying they are a warlock does not mean are an addict. But I've seen a couple takes thrown around for why Laudna's connection with Delilah isn't or can't be compared to addiction, and I'd like to examine those briefly.
Let's start with the origin of their entanglement - it's notable, for instance, that Laudna's fusion with Delilah's spirit was not something she chose or was necessarily even conscious of at first; however, equally notable is that not all IRL addiction begins with a person making bad choices to do the addictive thing, such as in the cases of forced drug use in trafficking, painkillers post-surgery, etc.
There is also the point that Laudna would die if Delilah were to be removed, whereas addicts can put aside the object of their addiction. But here there is also grey area: in some cases, unassisted withdrawal from serious substances can in fact kill you. And for another angle, even when it is quit the object of addiction will still exist in the world somewhere; it cannot be completely removed either, and it is the recovering addict's challenge not to engage.
Next is the way feeding Delilah gives Laudna new powers she can use to help the group - and certainly, IRL addiction doesn't give you magical combat abilities! But a substance being abused may indeed provide an effect that the user can leverage to their advantage (stimulants for work productivity, alcohol for relaxation or confidence, etc). Addiction happens because the mind and/or body are getting something in return that feels good, at least in the short term.
I mention these counterpoints not to say it's all a slam dunk, but rather to point out that addiction is a hugely complex issue, both mental and physical, taking many forms. If you want an addiction comparison to apply to Laudna, or not, you can probably find a manifestation of addiction out there that aligns with your argument. Marisha and others of the cast using addiction to describe Laudna's behavior just gives us one (1) possible lens to orient her experience and motivations, and, critically, to envision a way out for her: to fight Delilah with every ounce of willpower she has, to ask for the support of her friends in that effort, and to shove Delilah back into the sub-basement of her brain and keep her there for good. A common adage around addiction is that there is no "curing" it, just the lifelong work of recovery; and similarly, if Delilah can't be fully removed from Laudna, she has been successfully suppressed before and could be again. I think it would be incredibly powerful to see Laudna take that journey! She has agency in her circumstances and she can seize it. Also, she still has responsibility for her actions when they harm those around her; addiction, like trauma, explains but doesn't excuse.
The addiction comparison for Laudna and Delilah seems to have mixed reactions from fandom, and that's fine! If it truly just doesn't resonate with you, fair enough - there are plenty of other valid ways to describe Laudna's behavior and circumstances, and not mutually exclusive with the addiction angle either. We don't have to pick only one way of interpreting what characters do (in fact I advise against it), and as the story evolves our frameworks of interpretation may change too. A lens is just a tool for understanding. But for the handful of folks on the two sides of the polarized reaction coin at the moment - those either overly defensive about the comparison or conversely leaning into it in an ugly, mean way - if you think the word "addict" by itself irrevocably condemns Laudna or deprives her of compassion for her circumstances, perhaps consider mulling over how you view addicts IRL.

I think I'm plural. Where do I go from here?
🌓There's a couple different avenues you could go down, but we have a few pieces of advice that might help:
EDIT: Our friend also mentioned that it's okay to not know everything at first! Alters might take awhile to come out and switches can be random/suppressed for a bit. Know that figuring this stuff out is literally rewiring how your brain works a little, ya know? :P
Check out plurality groups or places of information. You can either find a system/singlet more experienced with knowledge about the topic, or check out infographic websites like this one:
2. Try to find a place where you can feel comfortable AND safe just trying out being plural. This has honestly been why we've been so successful at detangling systems: We just let them try it out to see how they feel about it. Our DM's are usually open for this kind of behavior. We hold a very personal opinion that it's better to live in a world where you can try out being plural and it turns out its not you, then a world where you don't get that chance. There's no harm in just feeling the edges out to see where you land. This can be either over text, or in person, or something else!
3. Think about your past experiences with identity. For example: If you're trans, did you have a period before realizing that you attached in similar ways? Did you feel similar arguments sprouting up to try to deny it? And if not that, how about just how you've acted around people? Being plural can define a lot of past interactions you didn't think about before. The "moods" you might have, if you speak in different voices sometimes, etc etc etc.
4. Understand you're not alone. Studies show that DID has a 1~1.5% estimated percentage of the world population (though we're not sure if that includes OSDD 1B, traumagenic systems with no memory loss). Although it's described as "rare", it's actually a fairly common condition in the grand scheme of things.
A community is forming (hah!) as more and more plural people come to accept their existence. There are many more plural people out there living their best lives! And you can too!
5. Know that therapy, while it can help, also has a tendency of dealing with psychologists who are taught the only way to "cure" plurality is to have alters integrate. Many systems now are trying to co-exist together because it's becoming more understood that you kind of *can't* cure plurality? So know there's no harm in self diagnosing.
6. Read up on plural fiction, if you can! There's nothing more important or validating than to see other's experiences with plurality! Unfortunately we can't really recommend most mainstream stories, as plurality seems to be more a growing movement in fanfiction spaces. Here's some links to plural stories that made us feel good or were written by us (Yeah bitch of course every word is a different link, gotta go extra as Pandora :P )
And of course, we could say more, like understand c-ptsd (a lot of little trauma over time) can make you plural, find outside sources to reaffirm you, etc. etc. etc.
But we just wanna say that no matter where you end up, take this motto to heart, a message to every alter that might be in there, from us: Thank you for existing! ❤💚🖤🤍🧡💜💖❣💙💔💗🫶🏽💟🤎
#asks#plurality#did/osdd#long post#links#ref#chirps#hope this helps! Again though like our messages are pretty open#it's normal to be plural and be happy#if anyone has anything to add you can!#👑Pandora💔

ok since I finally managed to get Veilguard to work I got idea:
Dragon age au:
Jonathan Crane- unfortunately even here he was raised by his zealot of great grandmother. I can imagine Keeny family being nobility once but lost everything after accusations of using "blood magic". Well technically there is no Christianity in Thedas, but Andrastianism is based on it so closed enough....
In place of country in Thedas he comes from? Some small village in Ferelden. Mostly because of faith and they view on magic. Perfect place for young boy to taste fear for his abilities that supposed to be a "gift".
So imigine this, you a zelot Andrastian. Stil living in old grief of losing nobility status and you are forced to raised your scrawny great grandson in your age. You try to "raise" boy into good believer of Andrasta, maybe even send him to become templar, only for that boy to turn out to be a mage. The Horror! You try to suppress his abilities whith good old punishment and discipline, but in the end she sends that "demon" into a Mage circle.
While I think Jonathan would adore learning, he would also probably enjoy the library in the circle. Being constantly watch by templars and no privacy? No so much, he feels overwhelmed and afraid and most people can guess what happens is attracted to this fear? Demons, particularly a demon of fear who often visits him during a night. While not out right trying to possess him, this demon loves to scare Jonathan.
That would push Jonathan to research about fade, spirits and demons. He falls in love with them. He starts to research into trying to one up that demon, who he starts to see as only companion in this prison. Since most children his age are afraid of his because of his apoerence.
I think Jonathan would somehow trick a demon and scare it in return for all the times it scare him. Instead of being angry this demon of fear feels impressed? It starts to observe the child more closely from now on and starts to feel protective of it? Well congratulations Jonathan you just tamed a fear demon it will do everything to help you.
With help of demon Jonathan manages to steal his phylactery before escaping the circle. Before he travels to Nevarra. Because let's be real, Jonathan being necromancer is exactly kind of magic he would want to study. Ofcourse he can't hide ,"Scarecrow" as the demon call himself in name of young Jonathan biggest fear, from Mortalitasi, but since it isn't "malicious" (as in sense to cause big harm to others, it's only wants to scare people and protect Jonathan). They don't try to get rid of it. So Jonathan live goes up hill from here.
But it all changes when he is ask to give lecture in Tevinter and meets someone who can see "Scarecrow". A female mage who is also in company of spirits that seems bound to her. But this spirit is one of love and calls itself "Amor".
Well they become close, close enough to Jagna fallos him back to Nevarra. Both spending time researching fade and they respective companions emotions.
But it all changes when Jonathan is again forced into some big adventure with Jagna. Along who they meet and befriend:
-human engineer named Edward Nygma
-Ex bard named Lucy Müller (another oc)
-surface Dwarf hypnotist named Jervis Tetch
-Ex circus Qunari performer named Waylon Jones
-Waylon adopted undead daughter Agnes (another oc)
-Ex court Jester Harley Quinn
-Forest spirit that calls itself Poison Ivy (that fallows Harley around)
-Ice speclise mage named Victor Fries trying to find cure for his wife who is "sick"(blighted)
And few others...
It's just work in progress, there is many things I need to think through about this au, like:
-Jonathan either being a human or what idea I like more: a half blood of elf and human.
-Kind of spells he might know (leaning towards necromancer and fire magic)
-Is Scarecrow demon or simply just a spirit of fear. Since he doesn't want to move to our world just cause fear which is in his nature.
-When it happens...
Etc ...

🧿Societal realization that feminine doesnt equal women, masculine doesnt equal men, anyone can wear makeup, heels, dresses, business suits, tuxedos, grow facial hair, not shave their legs, have acrylic nails, etc. and it has nothing to do with genitalia, sex or assigned gender at birth and everything to do with Spirit (as the Native Americans know with 2 Spirit), energy and how Source has divinely chosen to manifest itself in each individual soul and that expression of Source is as unique and individual as our fingerprints and if that expression is through gender affirming transitions, surgery, medical care, facial feminization surgery, changes in physical appearance, hormones, drugs then that is how that persons soul has chosen to express themselves in this temporal, corporeal, temporary and physical plane of existence -- the soul, our energy, Source, the divine is what truly matters and noone should question anyone elses unique soul expression which can be expressed and communicated in literally millions of different ways, through body art, body modifications, tattoos, piercings, hair adornments, permanent makeup, the list is literally endless and gender identity expression and gender affirming care is just one of these millions of ways and should not be demonized, hated, feared or legislated against.
🧿Opioids like fentanyl, percoset, oxycontin, etc. are dangerous, harmful and addictive. Millions are addicted and millions have lost their lives for no reason other than to enrich pharmaceutical companies. We can be healed with plants and herbs and we can be healed with our selves and our own inner healing power. We dont need these synthetic, unnatural, harmful & deadlydrugs. They should be made illegal.
🧿Cancer is nothing but a cottage industry and a money making tool -- with all the trillions and trillions donated and decades upon decades of research, where is the cure? Same with arthritis, lupus and other autoimmune diseases. Prescription drugs exist to make pharmaceutical companies richer, thats it.
🧿Satan was made up for Christianity, which is a bastardized & stolen form of kemet, Mary is a bastardized Isis & Jesus is a bastardized & fake ass Horus. There is no hell, hell is never mentioned once in the Old Testament, it was made up later for the New Testament to control and enslave. We are in hell, thats literally where we are now, what else do you call millions of children dying every year of starvation, from homelessness, from completely preventable & curable diseases when Apple is a trillion dollar company? What do you call the Earth dying because of profit and greed and capitalism? What do you call pointless wars over inside government jobs? What do you call genocide, systems of oppression, police killing unarmed Black men with absolute impunity, prison industrial complex, military industrial complex, school to prison pipeline, corporate amerikkka working people to death into literal early graves, money being valued over living human beings with unique souls, forests being destroyed, colonialism, colonizers, government experimentation, MK Ultra, minders, greys, the Bohemian Grove...youre in hell literally now.
🧿Decolonize your mind, heal yourself, commune with nature, unplug and disconnect, exit the rat race, stop treating yourself as a machine when you are a beautiful soul, stop overworking, stop hustling, stop overeating, stop overdrinking -- ethanol is a poisonous depressant, so how do you "drink to have a good time"?, stop overspending, stop overconsuming, stop retail "therapy", tap into yourself, tap into your soul, stop endlessly scrolling and tapping your phone, tap into Source, we are all infinite beings and they treat you like you are an inconsequential cog to be replaced -- if you die today, your job will replace you tomorrow i was a corporate recruiter and saw it happen more than once, listen to ocean waves, float weightlessly in a dark pool, stop listening to 24/7 news, stop being 24/7, youre not 24/7, you have a natural circadian rhythym, replenish your depleted melatonin levels, they treat you like a 5 below knock off when you are expansive & divine, stop killing yourself to make a CEO that doesnt know who tf you are and his shareholders richer they will brush your ass out the door this fall with the estimated 2 million more people being laid off, stop making yourself a number, stop being a statistic, stop being plastic, stop playing their game, be an individual, be yourSELF, know the Self, know Self, know thy Self, cant run away from Self forever, look inside because thats where all the answers are and thats the only place they dont want you to look so you google it but baybee what did people do before google, stop shortening your attention span, you are more than a Tik Tok, read a book, fight the power, fight the machine, take a slow leisurely walk to nowhere to do nothing, stop existing and curating your entire existence for social consumption on social media, you are not a thing to be consumed, you were wonderfully made by Source, you are Source, realize who you are and open your eyes...🧿

by Kathryn Adkins (https://www.facebook.com/groups/healingdietfordogsandcats/)
Bacteria, Germs, Microbes, Yeast, Fungus, Mold, Viruses - they are NOT the enemy, they are a natural part of our biological terrain and serve a purpose. For clarity and for purpose of this write-up, these microscopic aides are collectively referred to as “bacteria”. Also, I have written this from a human perspective but the same information applies to ALL animals, even our beloved pets.
Bacteria are everywhere and are an integral part of every living being. They aid us in a multitude of tasks within the body including digestion, metabolism, development, and detoxification. They really help keep us going and I would hate to think of where we would be without them. Sadly, the teachings of modern medicine try to convince us that some of these bacteria are “bad”. They tell us stories of sickness and death to make us fear them. Then they use our fear to sell us hope and “health”… in a bottle. And we buy into it again, and again.
But health doesn’t come in a bottle. And there is NO SUCH THING as BAD BACTERIA. There is just… bacteria. Ingeniously designed by nature, bacteria act as the “garbage men” of the body by removing wastes and toxins during the detoxification process. They are created by the body’s own cells and can be transformed into different types (yeast, fungus, virus, etc.) depending on the specific toxins that need to be addressed. Often times, they are the first indicator of a dis-ease process currently underway and are the “messengers” telling us to take heed and correct the offense. Your bacteria are made by you, for you! Let that sink in for a moment.
The symptoms of illness that we experience are the outward signs of the natural detoxification process taking place within the body. And they are signs you should not ignore. However, if your first response is to grab drugs or “remedies” (natural or not), you will NOT be doing yourself any favours! Anti-biotics, anti-fungals, anti-virals, anti-inflammatories, etc. Do you see a trend here? They are all ANTI-something and that SOMETHING is an essential part of the healing process.
ANTI means opposed to, or against a particular thing. BIOTIC means pertaining to life.
ANTIBIOTICS = AGAINST LIFE
Antibiotics, Antifungals, antivirals, etc. kill off the body’s “garbage men” and other living cells too! What would happen to your house if you could no longer take out the trash? Think about that!
When the trash piles up, inflammation occurs due to constant irritation from toxic materials. Inflammation or fever is a crisis response to a life-threatening situation. Inflammation is the body’s most intense effort to cleanse and restore itself. They are healing activities. The idea of suppressing the body’s attempt to heal itself is the equivalent to hitting a drowning man over the head so he will stop struggling. And that’s exactly what the doctors do! They prescribe ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES! I could go on, but I think you get the idea….
So what happens when you administer “remedies”, whether natural or unnatural?
You kill the messenger (bacteria)! You know, those microscopic aides who were working so tirelessly to rid your body of the harmful toxins that caused your flu, cold, yeast infection, UTI, etc.? You’ve killed them!
Your symptoms stop and you feel better. But don’t be fooled, you weren’t “cured”. You interrupted the detoxification process, sent the wastes back into storage and forced the body to deal with yet another, but more important toxic load than the original offense. Congratulations, you have effectively ADDED to your existing toxic load!
Whether it be days, weeks, months, or a year even, your symptoms WILL COME BACK (does flu season ring a bell? Or recurring ear infections or UTIs?). It does not matter if your doctor calls it the flu, or cystic acne, or even cancer - they are all the same dis-ease: toxemia (acidosis). And toxemia will stay with you until you have properly addressed and removed the cause(s).
SO please, next time you reach for a remedy to your unpleasant yet often short-lived symptoms, think about what you are doing. Will it truly help you, or are you adding to your dis-ease?
Also, don’t be duped into believing that natural “remedies” are harmless. Though many are less toxic than pharmaceuticals, they can still cause harm the body and upset (or stop) the detox process.
Colloidal Silver - Anti-biotic with anti-viral and anti-fungal properties
Honey/ Bee Propolis - Honey is bee vomit - it is not a food. It is highly acidic and has antibacterial and antibiotic properties, which means it is toxic.
Apple Cider Vinegar - ACV may neutralize the acids, but the problem is that it can greatly interfere with digestion. Anything accompanying vinegar into the stomach will not be digested (Dr. Herbert Shelton (see comments for link to more information).
Garlic/ Onion - Garlic and onions are toxic to pets and humans alike. The toxin they contain, called "allicin" is nature's way of keeping the plant from being eaten by fungi, bacteria, and other little critters, including, perhaps, fleas. I guess even fleas are smarter than humans.
Tumeric - Turmeric does nothing to address the root cause of disease and acts in the same way medications do by reducing inflammation. Inflammation is part of the healing process.
Oil of Oregano – anti-biotic and anti-fungal agent
Probiotics – contrary to popular belief, the body is designed to manage its own flora population
Cloves – anti-viral, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties
Bone Broth - https://www.nomorevetbills.com/2018/bone-broth-for-dogs/
Milk Products – meant for feeding a growing baby of the same species and should not be fed to adults; otherwise, it is considered highly acidic and mucus-forming.
Yogurt & Fermented Foods – highly acidic and mucus-forming. Fermented foods will cause gas, which can lead to pain and discomfort, panting and in many cases diarrhea as the body tries to flush the fermented product out quickly so the alcohols don’t cause cellular damage.
Brewer’s Yeast - a popular high-protein supplement, contributes to uric acid formation in the body. It is a waste product of the brewing industry, resulting when the barley is turned into malt. The industry then has no use for it. It is a “dead” food, because it is heated before marketing to destroy the yeast organisms. It should never be included in the diet.

It is said that the disease
It is said that the disease in our body is caused by viruses, bacteria etc.
And the same viruses and bacteria also cure the disease in our body.
Is the prevention of disease due to bacteria eating bacteria itself?
Which bacteria helps prevent disease?
Below are a few of the probiotics that are taken to treat or prevent disease, and how they're thought to work.
Lactobacillus. In the body, lactobacillus bacteria are normally found in the digestive, urinary, and genital systems. ...
Bifidobacteria. ...
Streptococcus thermophilus. ...
Saccharomyces boulardii.

causes and prevention of foodborne illness
Causes and Prevention of Foodborne Illness
foodborne illness statistics
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates roughly 1 in 6 Americans (48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of foodborne diseases each year. Symptoms of foodborne illness include upset stomach, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and dehydration; they can range from mild to severe and death.
Foodborne illness can affect anyone who eats contaminated food; however, certain populations are more susceptible to becoming ill with a greater severity of illness. These populations include infants and children, the elderly, pregnant women, people taking certain kinds of medications or immune suppressed (e.g., cancer patients, diabetics).
To prevent foodborne illness, it is necessary to understand how food becomes unsafe to eat and what proactive measures can be taken to keep food safe.
causes of foodborne illness
The causes fall into the following 3 categories:
Biological hazards include bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Bacteria and viruses are responsible for most foodborne illnesses. Biological hazards are the biggest threat to food safety. They can be inherent in the product or due to mishandling (e.g., time/temperature abuse).
Chemical hazards include natural toxins and chemical contaminants. Some natural toxins are associated with the food itself (i.e., certain mushrooms, PSP in molluscan shellfish), some are made by pathogens in the food when it is time/temperature abused (i.e., histamine development in certain seafood species). Some additives, such as sulfites, can be a hazard to some people. Chemical contamination can occur when products (i.e., cleaners) are not used correctly.
Food allergens are a chemical hazard. Some people are sensitive to proteins in foods. Every food is different. Eight major food allergens include milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish (lobster, crab, shrimp), wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts.
Physical hazards can include metal shavings from cans and plastic pieces or broken glass.
microbiology of foodborne illness
Bacteria are single-celled organisms which multiply by cell division, under appropriate environmental conditions. The conditions that influence bacterial growth are the food itself, acidity, time, temperature, oxygen, and moisture. Most bacteria need nutrients to survive. They obtain these nutrients from food. Bacteria grow best in food that is neutral to slightly acidic (acidity is measured by pH). Microorganisms have different acidity (pH), temperature, and oxygen requirements for optimal growth. Bacteria need time to grow and they grow rapidly between 41°F and 140°F. Bacterial growth is slowed at temperatures below 41°F and limited at temperatures above 140°F. Some bacteria require oxygen to grow (aerobic), some grow when there is no oxygen (anaerobic), and some can grow with or without oxygen (facultative). Bacteria will grow when food and water is available. If water is bound or tied up with, for example salts or sugars, it is not available to be used by bacteria. This concept of available water is referred to as water activity (Aw).
Some bacteria can be further categorized:
Some bacteria are spore formers. The spore protects the organism during periods of environmental stress. When the conditions become suitable, the organism germinates from the spore and continues the growth cycle.
Some bacteria produce toxins that cause illness.
Molds are a multi-cellular fungi that reproduce by fruiting bodies that break and release thousands of microscopic mold spores, each capable of growing under the right conditions. Molds can send “roots” into the food to provide nourishment to the spore. Molds prefer damp, dark environments for optimal growth and they grow readily on almost any food, as well as walls, ceilings, and other areas of high moisture. Some molds produce toxins that can cause illness.
Viruses are the smallest known organisms. They cannot multiply in food—they need a human host. Viruses are transmitted to food from infected people.
Parasites include worms and protozoa. They cannot multiply in food; they multiply in a host cell.
However, there are also unseen single-celled microorganisms which we call protozoa.

Beginning with a rant because I gotta:
You can compare Long Covid to ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) all you want. You can spread warnings and try to educate people and say "hey, I have a debilitating condition pretty much exactly like this! Please be careful! Let's please do something to try to solve both (because research for one will greatly benefit the other as well)!"
There's already a prequel to this story
The issue is, though, that me/cfs has been stigmatized and intentionally suppressed and ignored for decades at least. Governments, insurance companies, and healthcare systems has gotten away with such gross negligence, dismissal, gaslighting, and abuse of those with me/cfs. It's hard to advocate for yourself when you have awful symptoms and no energy, when you're struggling to keep yourself afloat financially, when there's a 2 out of 3 chance you're a woman (or afab or femme presenting, etc) and already face a great deal of oppression, marginalization, and skepticism from healthcare professionals.
So when a new chronic illness pops up during a pandemic, and its older sibling is That illness. The illness pushed as psychosomatic. The illness that has a counterproductive and harmful "treatment plan" that gets pushed. The "well I'm tired, too" illness (I mean, come on. 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome' for something with a lower quality of life than heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and freakin' some cancer! It has dozens of symptoms in various body systems, can range in severity from struggling to work full or part time, to bedbound in isolation, darkness, and silence, fully reliant on care and even tube fed. People have died from ME, though most pwME won't. Instead, they'll live on with no cure, little treatment, little financial and general support, and most won't know or care.
The most common illness you've never heard of
There's estimated to be between 17-24 million people with ME around the world. It's not rare. Anyone can get it. There's no cure. No one cares.
Despite all this, the me/cfs community has been there every step of the way with those with Long Covid, despite many wishing to distance themselves from us. Who'd want to be wrapped up in all that stigma and neglect? They'd rather be taken seriously.
They haven't, of course. Healthcare, governments, etc have worked hard to silence and discount them. Though there's only so much you can ignore and gaslight such a sudden and undeniable group of post-viral illness patients. Fortunately there's been a surge of research and funding (comparatively anyway) for both Long Covid and ME and we're very grateful and optimistic.
Love and Fear
However, seeing this post has me worried. On one hand, I'm estatic that Long Covid is getting more recognition! That's awesome and it's about time. I also have lots of respect and sympathy for those who have HIV/AIDS and I'm glad that over the years their treatment options, public awareness, and public opinion have been improving and I realize there's still leaps and bounds to go.
I'm just concerned that, especially reading absolutely no mention of me/cfs in the comments or tags (didn't read all of them, tbf, but I read a lot), that this is just an opportunity for everyone to re-distance away from me/cfs. To break the ties between long Covid and ME even further. To tie Long Covid to a "real" illness that's "more than just being tired so you can stay home from work and be lazy". I'm scared that ME/CFS will be pushed back into obscurity and research will stop being funded and people like me will continue to live and die with no hope for treatment, respect, or relief.
All in this together (like high school musical)
I don't want Long Covid to be only associated with ME. I don't want LC to be neglected and misunderstood like ME. I don't want to drag any illness or struggle down. I guess, I'm just asking if we, people with ME, can be included in this awareness? If we, along with our sibling illness, can receive some awareness, recognition, propulsion, and validation? If we can all work together to pressure the appropriate systems and organizations to provide funding, research, policies, and care for all of us?
Inviting my +1(0000)
And, um, there's more. A lot more. There are so many post-viral or autoimmune or other chronic illnesses that are ignored and neglected. This world and the systems set up in it aren't made for us and are often pitted against us and designed to push us into the shadows.
We're here. Can you take a second to see us? Consider us? Advocate for us? We're missing. Will you come find us?
Oh, and I guess since we're comparing things to AIDS
The circle has been completed, I guess. lol

Depressive Episodes : Owning up to my emotions and allowing the waves of depression to push me through my toughest battles.
One thing about me, is that I never give up.
Im resilient, even when I don't believe it.
I've never allowed myself to fail, even when at times I knew I was falling. Its just... not in me to let go. I just gotta breathe, man. I can't see myself allowing the world to dig me into my own grave.
But that doesn't mean I havent thought about it.
Sometimes when I can't see the future, I go crazy and can't stop myself from having a manic depressive episode.
Other times, I can see the future, or the idea of it, and still go into a manic episode. So of course.. it doesn't matter when, what or where, when that wave of depression hits.. it starts to get me down to one of those spiraling series waiting to be channeled into something else.
So far, I've learned to creative outlets for my depression. Being honest, and escaping into worlds of creativity like painting, drawing, poetry.. Im still learning how to paint my emotions and make it seem more meaningful. But hey, anything to cure the depressive thoughts. I can't live like this anymore.
But the thing is, depression comes through waves and tries to leave its mark on society due to a painful reality we seem to suppress within. We can't lie to ourselves anymore, things are getting worse, and it seems as if it has no plans on getting better.
Or so they say...
I have a feeling that depression in our society has a LOT to do with our needs not being met, but ALSO because theres something negging at us to be seen. And its love.
We live in a cold reality, where most people pretend to be in their ego but not in their hearts. The warmth we are needing is in community, but there hasnt been too many spaces for community to fondle in. Depression sticks due to some of the food we eat, the shows and news we digest, the constant negativity that is plastered in front of us day in and day out. You know.. this can tire out a lost soul, and distract you from the primary mission. So to say that depression can be easy to fix, isn't the most practical way of thinking, at least not on my end.
Its taken me 5 years to really get to the nitty & gritty of depression, anxiety, shame, guilt, fear.. etc... and I've come to the conclusion that this thing can be generational as well as something going on in the psyche and needs further analyzation in other to appreciate the whys and the why nots of depression so you can heal it clearer. In most cases, depression can find healing through the arts, but what if thats not your niche? What if theres something more you must succumb to and haven't figured it out?
One of the things I've learned is mathematics. Boy I hated math as a kid cause I 'sucked' and I kept failing, however as I've made it to adulthood, I realize I DO love math, just not the way it was taught. Over time, I've made time to study math and all its different layers, its like a universal code. It helped me remember some parts of my childhood that made it easier to appreciate it. I say this because it's been one thing that's lifted me up along side photography. On of the main things that lifted up my energies into higher vibrations and being able to relieve myself of any depressive wave that entered my energy. Anytime I do feel depression sometimes I sit with it, sometimes I go and find purpose.
Because depression is causing you to lack clarity, focus, drive and remembrance of your souls horizon. Your purpose. Your mission. What reason did you decide to come here, love?
So what I want you all to know is that when your feeling depressed, there is something in you that wants to be notified. Yes those emotions are deep and sometimes rather intense but the only way to get out of the mud is if you get to digging and remembering why you even started doing it in the first place. It's so you can get back to you.
So began to say good bye to your depression, your healing era awaits my love. Depression is only a wave of thunderstorms creating a destiny for you to see that rainbows are on the other side of that tired, daunting feeling.

I have many friends who tell me my nature is insane to them. I don’t think so.
Yes, I have complex childhood trauma that has taught me coping skills that are not useful or beneficial as a grown-ass adult.
And I’m working on them. I’m a great example that dedicated self-improvement can work and turn things around for people. I’m hardly perfect and I don’t believe I will ever be fully “cured.”
But truthfully? I don’t think I need to be “cured” - I dislike that word.
I - and you might be in the same camp as me? - am not broken or faulty or damaged. I learned behaviors as a kid to survive. Pretty much the definition of “being a normal old human being.”
We all are born with a deeply embedded drive to survive. And when we have unstable caregivers, we adapt to ensure we get attention and have our survival needs (food, shelter, care, connection, etc.) met.
So … while they are completely natural, those survival behaviors I learned are no longer useful. So I’m learning new behaviors. I refuse to judge myself as damaged and hope you all feel it too.
Putting that aside, why do my friends think I’m insane?
Because I have a deep well of forgiveness and love to give to others. No lie, some of that is those old, learned but now unnecessary, behaviors at play.
As I work on my new improved way of living, I don’t see myself giving up on consistently showing up for loved ones who need it.
I feel fundamentally that many people have never had a consistent source of love and support. It makes them uncomfortable to feel it. They often respond awfully tbh. But that doesn’t change me.
I can forgive. I can still remain standing. I can still be consistent. They can figure it out (or not) and see I’m still here. They can see life doesn’t have to constantly hurt. People don’t always come and go.
But Foggy! That’s the same old behavior that opens you up to getting hurt. Nothing has changed, you faker. You aren’t learning new behaviors to keep yourself safe!
Oh, dear reader, thank you for caring about me. That is so kind.
Here is the difference:
I’m not going to chase. I’m not going to try to “prove my worth” by sacrificing and showing value. I’m not going to bend over backwards and suppress my needs to make someone else better.
The truth is that I love to help others. It energizes me. I love to show up and be there for friends and loved ones who need comfort. It costs me nothing to love and forgive and support and care for people I love. I love loving and nurturing others. I love my nurturing fatherly energy.
The damage comes when I do that to chase my self-worth. I’m done with that.
My understanding of my self-worth is growing leaps and bounds these days. My self-worth comes from my own view of who I am, the things I do, the value I create in the world, the energy I put out there.
So, fuck yeah, I will put that loving, caring, nurturing energy out there.
And if someone doesn’t understand the value? Well, I won’t take it personally. They are on their own journey. If they ever get to a point where they need a kind word or are ready for what I have to offer, I will be here. If not, so be it.
I’m still figuring this shit out but that’s how I see my path going forward.
I can learn new ways to behave and not be hurt while also providing consistency to loved ones who desperately need and deserve it, even if they aren’t ready to accept it.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Lol

homeopathic treatment for thyroid | homeopathy treatment
“The Homeopathic Approach to Heal Your Thyroid”
The thyroid gland plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism, growth, development, and other various important bodily functions. When various malfunctions of thyroid gland—becoming either overactive (hyperthyroidism) or underactive (hypothyroidism)—it can give rise to unpleasant and even dangerous symptoms in our body.
Homeopathy treatment for thyroid disorders provides a system of holistic treatment that can alleviate disorders of the thyroid without suppression of symptoms or risk of any adverse effects.
Homoeopathy is a centuries-old system of medicine which works on the principle of “like cures like.” Homeopathy medicines are extremely diluted preparations from plant, mineral, and animal sources are used to gently stimulate the body’s natural defences and healing mechanisms. By targeting the deeper disturbances within that give rise to thyroid dysfunction, homeopathic remedies for thyroid disorders can help restore balance and healthy functioning of our body. Additionally, the individualized approach of homoeopathy to patients means that treatment can be tailored to each patient’s unique experience of symptoms and response to remedies.
From addressing hormonal imbalances to reducing antibodies that attack the thyroid, homeopathy offers an appealing option for those seeking more integrative and ecological care for hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s disease, and other kinds of thyroid conditions.
What are thyroid disorders?
The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped organ located at the base of the neck that has an enormous impact on our overall health of our body. It produces thyroid hormones that regulate critical bodily functions like metabolism, temperature regulation, growth, brain development, reproduction and more.
Thyroid disorders are conditions which occur when the thyroid gland either does not make enough thyroid hormones (hypothyroidism) or makes too much (hyperthyroidism). Common causes for thyroid disorders can include autoimmune diseases, inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, tumours, or damages from medical treatments.
Some examples of thyroid disorders include:
Hashimoto’s disease: An autoimmune disorder where antibodies attack the thyroid as if it were a harmful invader, causing inflammation and damage of the gland. This typically results in hypothyroidism.
Graves’ disease: An autoimmune disorder that causes the thyroid gland to overproduce hormones and leading to hyperthyroidism.
Goitre: An abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland that may be related to iodine deficiency or other imbalances.
Thyroid nodules: Lumps that develop on thyroid gland, which can sometimes be benign but may require further testing.
Thyroid cancer: While not extremely common, thyroid cancer affects more women than men with treatment involving surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, etc.
The good news is thyroid disorders are often manageable through medications, therapy, diet changes, or supplements that help restore normal thyroid function. Catching and addressing them early is the key for better cure.
Causes for thyroid disorders?
Autoimmune Diseases: Diseases like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease cause unfortunately the body’s immune system to attack healthy thyroid tissue. This interferes with the thyroid’s ability to produce thyroid hormones. Genetics and other environmental triggers are likely culprits in setting off these kinds of autoimmune issues.
Iodine Deficiency or Excess: The thyroid needs iodine to produce thyroid hormones. Too little quantity off iodine can cause hypothyroidism, while excessive iodine intake can result in excess hormone production and hyperthyroidism in some.
Inflammation: Chronic inflammation lead to depress thyroid function and may be a root cause of hypothyroidism. Sources of inflammation include immune reactions, infection, poor gut health, nutrient deficiencies, and stress hormones.
Hormonal Changes: Significant life-stage hormonal fluctuations during puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, or menopause can impact thyroid function in some women.
Medical Treatments: Ironically, some treatments like radiation used for hyperthyroidism or biopsies for suspected thyroid cancer can damage healthy tissues and lead to hypothyroidism over time.
While we don’t always know the cause of thyroid dysfunction in a given individual, getting to the root issues and addressing them holistically through nutrition, stress relief, and targeted supplementation can provide lasting balance support to the patient.
Symptoms of thyroid disorders
Fatigue and weakness – Thyroid problems can sap energy levels or cause constant tiredness to the patient.
Mood issues – Hormone changes can trigger anxiety, depression, and irritability easily without any specific causes.
Weight fluctuations – An over or underactive thyroid often leads to unexplained or rapid weight gain or loss irrespective of the eating habits of the patient.
Hair loss – Hypothyroidism slows metabolism and can cause excessive shedding of hair.
Temperature sensitivity – Hyperthyroidism can spark heat intolerance and excessive sweating in contrary to the climate. Hypothyroidism leaves some feeling persistently chilled even in hot atmosphere.
Menstrual irregularities – Thyroid dysfunction often disrupts normal hormonal cycles. Periods may become lighter, heavier, or stop altogether.
Fertility problems – Imbalanced thyroid hormones interfere with ovulation and conception.
Sleep disruptions – Insomnia, restless sleep, and sleep apnea have ties to thyroid disorders.
Heart palpitations or high blood pressure – When thyroid levels shift too high or too low, it impacts heart rate and circulatory function.
Changes in appetite or digestion – Constipation and weight changes accompany thyroid problems.
Catching a thyroid disorder early via blood tests for TSH, T4, and T3 levels and evaluation of symptoms is key, as prolonged imbalance can impact quality of life and lead to further complications.
Homeopathy treatment for thyroid disorders.
Homeopathy takes a holistic approach to treat thyroid disorders by stimulating the body’s innate healing processes rather than just managing symptoms. Some key aspects of the homeopathic treatment of thyroid disorder include:
Constitutional Remedies – Rather than giving all patients the same remedy, homeopaths match the treatment to an individual’s personal “constitution”. This takes into account physical, mental, and emotional symptom patterns to select just the right remedy tailored for that person.
Stimulating Self-Healing – Extremely diluted natural substances are used to gently nudge the body’s regulatory systems back into balance. The remedies signal the body to respond, adapt, and restore health on its terms rather than overriding its intrinsic self-healing intelligence.
Patient Participation – The path to healing with homeopathy requires the patient’s engagement and participation through close observation of symptom subtleties, refinement of remedies over time, and adoption of lifestyle measures to improve overall health.
Whole Person Focus – In addition to lab markers of thyroid function, homeopathy accounts for the totality of symptoms related to energy, circulation, digestion, sleep, mood, menstrual cycle, and emotional state when assessing treatment response.
By addressing the root imbalances behind why thyroid problems develop in the first place, homeopathy seeks to catalyze deep, lasting, holistic change from within rather than override bodily signals. Skilled homeopathic care combined with nutrition, de-stressing, and other balance-enhancing measures can be extremely impactful over time.
In conclusion, thyroid disorders stemming from autoimmunity, inflammation, hormonal fluctuations, and other causes can disrupt vital bodily processes – negatively impacting energy, mood, weight, menstrual function, and beyond. Conventional treatments involving thyroid hormone regulation may provide symptom relief but fail to get at the root issues perpetuating the imbalance. Homeopathy treatment for thyroid disorders offers a more holistic way to gently stimulate the body’s self-healing capacity. By addressing each person as a unique individual and working sensitively with their natural healing forces to restore regulation and balance within, homeopathy serves as a promising alternative or complementary approach to regaining lasting thyroid health.

Architects: Real-Life Superheroes
Fire – A word that strikes fear in the bravest hearts! As children, we nonchalantly played the game ‘Fire on the Mountain Run, Run, Run!’... But in our crowded, vertically towering cities, fire is no game… and how and where does one run in case of an unfortunate fire in a high-rise building? Here’s where the wisdom of the age-old adage “Prevention is better than Cure”, becomes pivotal for every decision in the construction world.
Talking of decision-making, there is a group of unsung superheroes who silently and meticulously work behind the scenes, ensuring our safety and security. They eat, breathe and sleep safely, because their decisions literally make the difference between life and death; and the protection, or destruction of hard-earned property. Their safety consciousness is seen right from the word ‘go’, starting with Hazard Control measures at the construction site; Planning for efficient Lightning Protection Systems; Integrating Fire Safety into building design; Ensuring Material Specifications that incorporate high-quality, rated, insulation to prevent fire hazards, as well as secure the life of buildings and their occupants.
These real-life superheroes are the Architects whose painstaking efforts ensure our safety in offices, factories, homes, holiday resorts, malls, restaurants, theatres, stadiums, educational institutions, places of worship, and the list goes on… Their decisions can make or break life and property at every step of the way; every second of the day! Such is the immensity of power in the decisions Architects make. With this great power, comes great responsibility. By consciously striving for safety, Architects are truly the unsung real-life superheroes, responsibly keeping safe millions of lives across the world.
Speaking of safety, fire is one of the greatest threats, especially in high-rise buildings, compelling every possible preventive measure. Fire protection systems like Fire hydrants/sprinklers, Fire escape routes with directional signs, Warning System, Firefighting equipment, and Fire Detector System are visible measures of fire protection; but studies have also put the spotlight on fire-resistant building material, that has significantly reduced the number and intensity of disasters. With this in mind, at Eurobond, fire safety is a concern that has been amply addressed in all the cladding material we offer, as summarised below:
Eurobond A2 Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP)
These ACPs incorporate the best-in-class materials with a minimum 90% mineral core sandwiched between two aluminium skins of alloy 3003/5005 with Kynar 500 PVDF/FEVE lacquered surfaces on the front, and service coated on the rear. The FR mineral core is made of special grade MDH and ATH compounds which are the most reliable Halogen-Free (HF) compounds. Upon forced burning, they emit non-toxic harmless vapor; exhibit the best flame self-extinguishing properties; and are active smoke suppressants, thus greatly helping in containing the spread of fire. Our A2 ACPs have been tested and certified by Exova Warringtonfire, UK Laboratories, China, and have a confirmed rating of EN 13501-1 as Class A2 - s1 d0, thus satisfying almost all the building and construction codes worldwide, including application in fields such as railways, transportation, wind energy, defence, etc.
FR Plus (Class B) Aluminium Composite Panels
These incorporate new generation Mineral Core Filling, which contains 70% advanced mineral compounds, for excellently and economically restraining flammability of minor polymeric content, thus restricting flame propagation and smoke generation in case of a fire. It comprises of two Aluminium skins (Alloy 3003/5005), front skin coated with an advanced PVDF/FEVE coating system, and a rear with a wash coat to provide longevity to the panel. The PVDF/FEVE coated front skin provides excellent colour retention, gloss retention, UV stability, weathering resistance, and pollution resistance – for more than a decade with negligible periodic maintenance. Tested and certified by Exova Warringtonfire, UK, these ACPs have a confirmed rating of EN 13501-1 as Class B - s1 d0. They also have a 3 Hour Fire rating for ASTM E 119 and have been tested by Thomas Bell Wright, Dubai.
Eurocore – Aluminium Core Composite Panels
Eurocore has a non-combustible Pure Aluminium Core, with A2 class fire retarding properties, offering the best strength-to-weight ratio among the three classes, making it ideal for high-rise buildings and constructions.
Eurocore has many Technical Advantages:
Relieves the load on buildings being Lightest in Weight, yet Highest in Strength
Fire Retardant (Non- Combustible)
Formable and construction-friendly
Wind Pressure Resistance
Satisfies Stringent Building Codes
Least Cost of Installation
Completely Recyclable making it Eco-friendly.
Eurocomb – Aluminium Honeycomb Panels
Eurocomb is a sandwich panel with a nature-inspired hexagonal honeycomb structure as its core, making it lightweight compared to other materials of the same volume; and simultaneously enhancing stiffness and stability. Built on the principles of safety and environment-friendliness, Eurocomb’s incorporate fire-retardant properties and are AA3003 fully recyclable. Added advantages are their superior flatness, exceptional stiffness, and sound insulation. Our PVDF coating makes Eurocomb weatherproof, UV-resistant, waterproof, and dust-proof. Eurocomb comes with a 15-year warranty – an affirmation of our quality control procedures that test our panels with advanced equipment.
In this imperfect world, there will always be superheroes and villains, and Architects too have the option to decide on which side of the divide they want to be. The unscrupulous ones make unprincipled decisions and the unfortunate results are there for all to see! Thankfully the vast majority of Architects are truly superheroes who do everything in their power to build safe buildings because there are literally millions of lives riding on the decisions they make.

I think what I want to say to all of your anons that berate you with questions and hateful claims is that we all go through it... Some form of shock at our own likes and dislikes, and some of us end up sticking to our guns about who and what we find attractive and think it's liberating to share who and what that is while some think that by suppressing it they're somehow helping... Neither one is right. We are just experiencing our world for what it is. On the one hand, I'm sure we all wish those politicians and celebs that are assholes weren't (because honestly who would want to be with them eww lol can't stand the high maintenance part) but some of us also consider that it's not the end of the world and might even find it funny or a turn on to make those same types feel awkward or aware that there's a whole group of gay men who lust after them. It's not inherently bad, but it also sucks to be judged about it considering we're all kind of in the same boat. I mean, I've read some of your supporters say really deeply stupid things like "Democrats or liberals are not as attractive as Republicans or conservatives" LOL WTF. I know what they are TRYING to say, but it's definitely not anything to do with political affiliation or ideology. That has nothing to do with biological makeup or appearances. We're all psychologically attuned to loving or lusting after something or someone or a certain type based on our experiences and very personal internal needs, like wanting to be subjugated, dominated, or to be the subjugator or be the dominant ones, it's ridiculous to try to put it in one lane or the other when we actually mean the same thing. Ultimately we are all gay, some more in control and some more prone to give up that control, men and should enjoy being gay men, no matter what branch of that tree we thrive on. I wish we could show love to each other in our community when we are both liberal in our thoughts AND conservative..... no matter the reason. We live with each other anyway, why divide ourselves into groups further just because one side has an extreme view to the other? I don't get why we fight so much. If this was the 70s throigh the early 90s, we'd be fighting the same fight. We would be united agaibst HIV and AIDS and the doctrines of the religious right trying to make monsters of us for contracting a virus that to this day has no cure. The internet has just made us and our sexual preferences so polarized.
I'll admit: This anon stays anon because he wants to express love and kindness, and that does not seem to be the preferred topic of the day. In the end, Trans, Republican, Alex Jones lovers, Effeminate, Masc, Leather, Daddy, Boy, etc. We should help each other. Take each other seriously but not too seriously, and realize we just love certain aspects of masculinity and femininity that bring us joy and pleasure.
Honestly, I found as many things to be proud of about myself just following your blog as I did about hating our community. We should not be so extreme in our reactions. You honestly seem very reasonable, and all you are doing is putting your inner most thoughts out for the world to see, and I can appreciate that, @maturemenoftvandfilms - I love that too. :)
I wish everyone the best, and I wish we could see where we are different is interesting and not a point for conflict. We have enough of that to face in the world as gay or bisexual men. Let's be honest with each other and inclusive even if it's about people we ourselves would not think of as "sexy" or "attractive" because some people are just playing a role.
I'd like to thank you. I was feeling angry and hateful these past few weeks and you've brighten my day.

Department of the Interior
Office of Indian Affairs
Washington, January 11, 1902.
The Superintendent,
Round Valley, California,
Sir: -
This Office desires to call your attention to a few customs among the Indians, which, it is believed, should be modified or discontinued.
The wearing of long hair by the male population of your agency is not in keeping with the advancement they are making, or will soon be expected to make, in civilization. The wearing of short hair by the males will be a great step in advance and will certainly hasten their progress towards civilization. The returned male student far too frequently goes back to the reservation and falls into the old custom of letting his hair grow long. He also paints profusely and adopts all the old habits and customs which his education in our industrial schools has tried to eradicate. The fault does not lie so much with the schools as with the conditions found on the reservation. These conditions are often due to the policy of the Government toward the Indian and are often perpetuated by the Superintendent's not caring to take the initiative in fastening any new policy on his administration of the affairs of the

agency.
On many of the reservations the Indians of both sexes paint, claiming that it keeps the skin warm in winter and cool in summer; but instead, this paint melts when the Indian perspires and runs down into his eyes. The use of this paint leads to many diseases of the eyes among those Indians who paint. Persons who have given considerable thought and investigation to the subject are satisfied that this custom causes the majority of the cases of blindness among the Indians of the United States.
You are therefore directed to induce your male Indians to cut their hair, and both sexes to stop painting. With some of the Indians this will be an easy matter, with others, it will require considerable tact and perseverance on the part of yourself and your employes [sic] to successfully carry out these instructions. With your Indian employes [sic] and those Indians who draw rations and supplies it should be an easy matter, as a non-compliance with this order may be made a reason for discharge or for withholding rations and supplies. Many may be induced to comply with the order voluntarily, especially the returned students. The returned students who do not comply voluntarily should be dealt with summarily. Employment, supplies, etc., should be withdrawn until they do comply and if they become obstreperous about the matter a short confinement in the guard-house at hard labor, with shorn hair, should furnish a cure. Certainly all the younger men should wear short hair and it is believed that by tact, perseverance, firmness, and with-

drawal of supplies the Agent can induce _all_ to comply with this order.
The wearing of citizens clothing, instead of the Indian costume and blanket, should be encouraged. Indian dances and so-called Indian feasts should be prohibited. In many cases these dances and feasts are simply subterfuges to cover degrading acts and to disguise immoral purposes. You are directed to use your best efforts in the suppression of these evils.
On or before June 30, 1902, you will report to this Office the progress you have made in carrying out the above orders and instructions.
Very respectfully,
W. S. Jones
Commissioner.

this one is for all of us traumabonded on here over the years:
i think as a communist i am supposed to say that collectivity is an answer or a cure for us traumatized--many of my comrades will say stuff like this a lot. i personally think this is a misinterpretation and a mistake. i have also been very discouraged trying to find the “feeling” promised by collectivity--which is a feeling i do not think i will ever be able to experience. as a person of trauma and a person who was forged in the most textbook alienated capitalist family violence, i don’t think i will ever be able to “feel” right, feel in collectivity. i don’t believe i will ever be able to “live” “normal,” including in simulations of communal ways of being. other people can feel that, but i never will. i realized at some point that chasing the feeling is a distraction, a trap, a mirage, etc. i have begun to see my inability to access affective satisfaction as an advantage, a clearer way of seeing. and as a communist, i have found solace in refusing to commit myself only to chasing after a feeling of wholeness or a fix. i think it’s a losing game, and i also think it is wrong. and i don’t believe i will ever experience even a tiny bit of what communism will feel like in my lifetime. not only because i don’t think we’ll get there yet, or because communism-like isn’t communism, but also just because i don’t think i will ever be cured. i am no longer looking for a cure. i think i was made this way and that’s who i am, and like everyone and everything i change all the time, but i will never be cured. on one hand, as a disabledist and disciplined antipsych psychotic, i reject a cure on principle, and there are many parts of our lives as crazy people that are neat and precious parts of human experience that should not be suppressed--irrationality, psychosis, the undomesticatability of attention, even deep sadness maybe (who can say!). on the other hand, i don’t believe i can be cured of the parts of this that ail me because i believe that i am “broken” (a word i don’t like, as it defers to a myth of wholeness, but which i think feels descriptive). i believe i was made this way, and i cannot be fixed. i hope that i am one of the last people to ever be like me. that is what i work for, really, to make it so that within the century there will never be people like me again, people so broken and traumatized by the exact perfect confluence of all the things that communism is about ending. worth pointing out what i think is obvious but people like to hear anyway: the subjectivity i describe is not the stuff that gets accounted for by “productivity,” etc., you have heard this before. in fact within my limited imagination of what is possible on the other side, i very much hope there are even more people in some ways like me on the other side (irrational, psychotic, indulgent, intellectually manic, perhaps a little lazy, curious and distractible). what i am primarily talking about is that i am in pain, all the time, and i do not feel like i have access to contentment or positive affective states or positive affective reactions, almost ever, and certainly not when i “should.” this is one of the nice useful specificities of talking about “trauma” rather than diagnostic constellations: all we really need to say is that we feel bad, really bad, and that that is bad. there is also a lesser appreciated component of trauma living, which i alluded to above, which is that i was shaped in such a way by alienated violence that i cannot emotionally tolerate or acclimate to collectivity. i think this is a really underrated feature of what we like to call trauma, and we should attend to it more closely. social violence has made so many of us incapable of living socially, in peace. i do not need to use therapy-weighted language to describe this--trust, attachment, blah blah blah blah. i mean that i am not at peace in sociality, and that i don’t have any natural inclinations toward it, i experience pain and fear and sadness around other people more than makes any sense to me, and i feel like i cannot access habits that are social. the trauma we have endured--violence produced within the family or by the conditions of family orientation, sexual violence otherwise, institutionalization and incarceration, and disproportionately early and violent death coupled with dehumanization dehumanization of the lifecycle--have made us as traumatized people unable to route ourselves into meaningful patterns of living, even when we have the opportunity--however superficial--to give it a try.
so this helps me understand as a communist one of many reasons why collective living can’t reasonably expected to come first. and, as many of us have experienced, pageants of collectivity themselves cannot cure us of this pain and it cannot give us the tools to live, to wake up and be or be in peace within the social. i do not always find “trauma” useful as a frame--or maybe i should say, increasingly, i find it less than useful, and its mobilizations concern me more and more. but i appeal to it here because of our shared history with it, but also because i think it does a good job at letting us say “our misery is produced.” i was subjectively produced under acute conditions of capitalist violence and in my opinion i’m broken, and unable to feel good. i think one mistake we make with trauma in community here is that we understand the community to be people who experience trauma rather than people who were produced under these circumstances, and the former risks anti-solidarity. i do all of that diagnostic work to kind of say: it is better not to get hung up on the details. and to suggest to you that at some point you have to ask yourself what kind of repair you’re chasing, and who it is serving. just my onion. but, here is really my pitch, even as collectivity isn’t a cure for us as individually traumatized people in the right now, communism is still really good for the traumatized. i think it’s the only the compatible with the way we are. it’s the only thing for us, not because it can make us feel better, or cure us, or offer us something we couldn’t have that we need. it cannot (yet) do that (i don’t think). we are the people, of all people, who understand that there is no relationship of wholeness between the thing we lack and its supposed fix; or between the violence we faced and its supposed response. as traumatized people we have to accept this to be true, we must. i think probably freud had a way of describing this but i really wouldn’t know. in any case, not understanding that there is no reunifying redress to our trauma is one way we reproduced ourselves and others as traumatized people. it’s also a barrier to much more important things. see, communism needs us, particularly because we are the ones who can see the problem of how subjects are being produced most fully, better than anyone. we have to make a commitment to that vision, and to articulating it. but even more, as individual traumatized people, we just need to think about something other than ourselves and the project of fixing ourselves. not even just like in the immediate, busy-care, pragmatic sense (and maybe not even then at all--you know how i feel about “doing the work” of mutual aid!). i mean in an abstract sense. traumatized people need an irrational imagination of outside ourselves that meets and contradicts the irrational immensity of the eternally repeating inside ourselves. i mean contradicting, not repairing or making whole. we must above all break free from the reparative trap. (give up on it!)
to be a communist is above all to commit ourselves wholly to an irrational (do not tell scientific socialism i said this) idea entirely outside of ourselves. (once again: compatible with psychosis.) when i say i’m a communist (and i don’t always) i refer not to a way that i live or necessarily even to a way that i do things. i refer to a commitment, shared with many others alive today and in historical continuity, to ending the world. being a communist and specifically a marxist i have a particular understanding of the constitution of the “world” and how we could most likely go about ending it. as a traumatized working class person, i feel like i was gifted acute insight into that structure at so many different scales. i believe i was blessed with a clarity of our circumstances and am tasked with articulating it, in commitment to the struggle to ending the world. throwing down my rehearsals of a cure or retribution or reparation and orienting myself toward this above anything else was the only that i have ever found remotely “healing,” or soothing, or balancing, with regards to the trauma of my life’s production. and shouldn’t that make perfect, obvious sense? particularly for those of us living in the psychotic worlds--it’s a great feeling, committing to believing in the end of the world. it’s hard to start, and hard to sustain, but your life is already hard and meaningless and miserable. stumble toward something else. stop wasting your time with the rest of it! spoken with love as tumblr’s original trauma influencer. xoxo
not me though i’m too busy being crippled by body dysmorphia for some reason
