”Y/N?” you jump slightly at his voice, just realizing you weren’t even playing the game anymore. “Oh, sorry.” You say getting comfortable again and putting the controller away. The worst part of this it wasn’t the first time it’s happened and you knew exactly why you kept zoning out while you were hanging out with him. "so its not that you like me?" he says curiosity evident in his voice. Not knowing how to respond you look at him not speaking but you're sure your eyes tell it all. "you do..." he says as a smile creeps onto his face. instinctively you smile softly too but before you could speak he pulls you into a hug holding you tight? "god..you wouldnt believe how much ive wanted to hear that." he says resting his head in the crook of your neck. As much as you wanted to hug him back you couldnt. Instead, you pushed him away leaving him confused.

"This whole time...you treated me like just another friend, but you liked me?" you stand up, fighting back tears. "I've been just a friend to you? Do you not love me like i do?" he says hurt lacing his words, each one laying heavy on your heart. "No, felix. I do love you..but i dont wanna regret it." you sigh "i didnt want to ruin our friendship."

absolutely no offense taken for breaking my DNI lol its more of a jokey thing but stand up so u can sit down cus im getting started

so as we all know the human brain is weird as fuck and it can make you feel weird as fuck, percieve things weird as fuck, do things weird as fuck, etc. one of these things is atypical dysphoria. so you have like. regular dysphoria where your human body feels weird like it should look like a different human body. but then you have atypical dysphoria where your body thinks it should look like something that is not a human body. or something their human body could not have.

and people with this atypical dysphoria wanted to have a term to say "hey i feel like i should be (thing) even though im not!". they didnt want to use transID because thats a) disrespectful to trans people and b) as you mentioned, a little taken over by shit like "transnazi".

so then there were alternatives coined to encompass this weird feeling without being associated with transID or trans people, and without being disrespectful to people who actually are/have those things. it is also a general rule that alternatives to "trans-harmful/hateful" (like transnazi) are off the table because of how incredibly disrespectful that is. although, as i said, the human brain is very weird and i wouldnt put it past it to make someone feel like they "shouldve been a nazi" but maybe thats one for the therapist and not the tumblr bio.

i just read a little life and here's a messy review of the book by saying my opinion on people's takes on it

i want to start off by saying that this book is like willem's movie "life after death"; either people absolutely loved it or people hated it. and i fucking love this. would i be rereading it? probably not. but would i think of jude for the rest of my days? yes.

the thing i keep reading about from the people who didnt like it is that a) it's a trauma porn, b.) it's lengthy with various of unnecessary parts, and c.) its just a sad book with a sad ending.

something that i dont really understand is people's need and urge and want to always, always read a book expecting a happy ending. ("and books lied, they made things prettier"). spoiler alert: life isnt like that! its ugly and u cant always run away from its ugliness, no matter how hard you try. no matter how hard jude tried. and i always had this hunch, when i was first reading it, that it wont end the way i'll like it, but still i hope and hope and hoped for jude and for all of them, and thats just the Human part of me. my in denial.

as someone who struggled from mental health, i actually guiltily thought in the middle of the book, "why hasnt he k!lled himself yet?" even before jude's attempt. i cant handle the thought of putting myself in his situation and pushing through, and that's the reality as well. you thought about it and yet , complying to it somehow makes you think that the hyenas won. that brother luke won, that dr traylor won. and the thing about jude is he always try. he tried to get through life, he tried to accept romance in his life, he tried and he tries to accept everyone's devotion and help because even though he feels like he doesn't deserve it; he feels like he owes them that at least. to try.

i can see how people, especially the first ones when it just came out, may be put off by the tones and the topics of this book, but as years went by and it grows in popularity, the trigger warnings had been set. one thing ive set my mind to when i bought the book is the advice i was given: to only read it when im in a stable stage of my life, and that's why it took me almost a year before i started reading it after buying it. the triggers are listed for anyone to see. YES. those things do happen in real life. those things, esp the rape and physical mental and verbal abuse DO come in hand majority of the time. the book is not trauma dumping or a trauma porn: it simply tells. (imo, its on YOU if u think this is a trauma porn. imo, it says a lot about you as a person).

the book is lengthy because it is intended to be, the "unnecessary parts" are not just fillers but a stepping stone to unraveling jude's past, to fully grasp the situation. they are there for a reason. you can skim through the book if you want to avoid them: but believe me when i say you wont fully get the book if you do. the book is not meant to be enjoyed. its meant to tell a story, to make you feel things for the characters, may it be pity or joy or anger.

jude is not meant to be understood or to help or to be pitied at, hes meant to exist. and those things are something that was given to him willingly by the people he loved. and the characters are all flawed. andy is a bad doctor, willem is lovable and maybe had too much love, malcolm is perfect (i love him so much), jb is infuriating most of the times, harold shouldve pushed more. they all shouldve pushed more, but they cant. because the way they love is also flawed and it gets in the way, because judy is also flawed. hes stubborn and confusing. but those are traits that makes them all human.

ive reblogged this before but ill say it again: ik its a meme, but not everything can be solved through therapy. again, it took jude YEARS to finally tell willem his past– willem. willem who jude probably trust with his life, who he lets help him and seeked out for him when he was bleeding to death from cutting too much. you think jude would talk to a shrink he barely knows? someones whos literally paid to talk to him? not even jb and malcolm knew.

in conclusion: i think people expects this book to turn out for the better as a psychological response. surprise, it doesn't. my opinion? it's not meant to be enjoyed. i dont recommend this to anyone but only because it IS devastating and im a sadist if i want people to experience those feelings the book will brought. however, the characters, the delivery of the story and the pacing, and hanya's god bowing writing style are what makes this book GREAT. great ≠ happy ending, just like how sad ending ≠ bad book. thanks!

As for the doxxing thing, people can have their thoughts and talk about it, but I won’t because it’s not directly related to the QSMP situation. What I’m trying to say is that these are serious topics than can be discussed, and also not everyone who raised these subjects used it to discredit the admins experience.

The « should’ve been private » argument tho… I can’t like yes, duh, it should’ve ! However it was not possible since communication seems to be a foreign concept within the higher hierarchy of Qstudios so their fault really. which isnt bad! i do think she deserves praise over folklore. the marketing of it being a suprise album was very clever too. but i think before those folklore there was a sense of criticism that people had with her music that kept her wanting to innovate it.

i have a strong believe that social media's algorithms are failing artists to innovate pop music in the same way than 00's pop music did just because of how much less artists have to lose now with their brandings. i once again bring up artpop by lady gaga and how much she lost for her idea???? and now??? gaga was really fucking killing it. her music had such creativity and passion put into it that you can SEE her drive in that. (also to know i didnt understand artpop as an album until MUCH later in my life)

but taylors lack of needing to innovate her sound due to her popularity and lack of criticism really has just shown how much her music has come to decline in quality. if you see the transition between fearless and speak now. those two albums. she TOOK the criticism that she "couldnt write her own songs" and literally flipped that narrative to write that entire album herself. and to me? arguably speak now is MY favorite taylor album.

and the transition between speak now to red to 1989 to reputation. theres SO much that happened in that sense of time. theres different sounds that make those albums what they are. 1989 was such a creative endeavor for her because it was her first step into pop music. i think was also her first time working with jack? now people say her decline on music is his fault as a producer but i dont believe his role had gotten bad until midnights. Treys bakery is closed for 2 weeks for some vacation Kyle didnt hear details about. He did hear that Yuuki and Trey were getting married though, so he was happy for them. Just, it was reminding him how desperate he was for a partner. He liked being able to go out for awhile instead of being cooped up in his apartment or going out with people he didnt even like.

He laid on his bed, scrolling away at his phone out of pure boredom and unreasonable exhaustion. He stopped on a video of a cake being made. It reminded him that he had barely eaten today.. And, now he was craving sweets. He was way too lazy to make them himself, nor did he trust ordering them online. It was still around mid-day.. He could find some other place to go.

So, he did exactly that. Getting dressed up in his pricey, girly clothes and putting on his makeup, he searched for some sort of bakery nearby. He found a place, Amor de Oso. He didnt understand the name whatsoever, but that didnt matter. It looked to be cute and that made him want to go. He quickly searched his messy room, finding his KAngel plush keychain to bring with him just for pictures. He put on his mini backpack and went out the door, locking up his apartment.

He walked to the place, as it wasnt very far thankfully. He felt like breathing some fresh air anyway, and it was nice out. Even if his definition of it being nice out is being cold. He took a look at the place. It contrasted quite a bit from the surrounding building, having a more homey feel with the shades of brown and green used for the details. Large windows were on either side of the door, having some pasteries on display. He opened the door and walked in, instantly being hit with a cinnamon smell. Not his favorite, but it wasnt that bad.. The interior had a warm, nature vibe to it. He was starting to think if he shouldve brought his Ame plush keychain instead. Soft lofi music played throughout. It was rather empty, having only a couple people inside sitting at seperate tables.

He walked up to the counter. His eyes fell onto the freshly baked pasteries in the glass on top of the counter, then onto the girl behind it. She looked a bit disheaveled. Light brown hair faded to a warm yellow being tied up in a messy bun behind her head. Chubby cheeks with a bit of smudges around her eyes. Cute bear ears and nose.. Round, soft looking body with a simple outfit and powder covered apron.

"Hello! What could I get ya today?"

Her voice was a bit deeper than her expected. She did have a rather mature vibe compared to the clumsiness of her attire.

Staring too much.. Look away.

"Uhm.. Give me a moment please."

He kept a soft, polite tone, feeling intimidated by her cheerful aura. She nodded happily.

He looked up at the board to menu items, seeing how the selection was less than Treys bakery. He skimmed through it.

"Could I get.. A vanilla cream filled crossiant and a small mint-choco cake roll?" Kyle spoke calmly. "Oh, and.. Uhm.. A medium brown sugar boba, please."

"Of course! We'll call you up once your orders done. Name?" The girl responded with a smile.

He paused for a moment, thinking of what name to give. "Kyle."

"Alright!" She said the price, and he paid it without hesitating. "Please, sit down while you wait!"

Kyle nodded, and went to go sit down next to one of the large windows as the girl went to make the desserts. He pulled out his phone and took some pictures with his KAngel plush keychain, as any normal person does. His thoughts started drifting towards the girl that was behind the counter.

She was cute.. Didnt know if he could handle her joyous energy of they were to date.. Would it even last that long? She would probably get sick of him and leave.

He realized what he was thinking of, and very much wanted to stop. This was his first time ever seeing the girl, why should he think about dating her already? Stupid whore brain.. His thoughts wouldnt stop, as usual.

What was her name though? Did she have some sort of tag that said her name somewhere on her outfit? Damn it, he wasnt paying enough attention.. Her ears were super cute though...

"Kyle!" The girl called out. Kyle was immediately alerted, unaware of how much time has passed. He put his phone down and went up to the counter. He glanced back at her outfit. Right on her apron strap, a rectangle pin with "Derby F." right on it. Derby.. Such a silly name.

"Thank you." He bowed briefly before taking the tray with his desserts and drink, and surprisingly silverware already placed, and scurring off to where he sat before.

He, of course, took pictures with the food and his KAngel plush, admiring how neatly the food had been placed. He put down his phone and picked up the fork. He cut off a portion of the cakeroll with it and took a bite.

He paused, taking in the flavor of it. Super soft cake, with fluffy cream.. The mint flavor.. This place was definitely going to be a back up to whenever Trey is out.

He put down the fork and reached for the crossiant. He took it bite, and it was what he expected. Though, it was notiably sweeter than Treys. He liked it that way.

He finished up the treats, feeling rather happy about finding this place. He got up and threw away his trash and putting the tray where it was said to go. He turned for the door. Just as he was about to leave, Derby spoke.

"Bye! Hope to see you again!" She exclaimed, waving at Kyle. He turned back with wide eyes.

He waved back as a smile formed on his face. His face became a little red, "Ill be back soon enough. Bye!"

He turned towards the door and left, with Derby lingering in his head.

This to me, is way more serious than Liu Fuyi being oblivious that the princess has a crush on him.

imo, to put it simply, i think its related to her knowing how the ending of the book goes. at that point, yao is devastated and cant trust anyone, which stems from all the lies and deceit and fuyi and his ~love calamity~. but, just to correct, she doesnt accuse him of stealing the map in that scene, she asks if he ever loved her.

maybe miaomiao thinks that if she changes the love calamity issue, it will create a different outcome, since thats what yao was most upset about there. we arent given a lot about everything in catching demons, so thats just my educated guess.

And, I think the drama is maybe trying to also do this, but its not distinct enough because after ep 13, we're not remind of the original Mu Yao and Liu Fuyi.

Hope my rambling makes some sort of sense. My messy thoughts make it sound more complicated than it is. Easy to understand when reading the novel.

yeah, exactly. it wouldve been nice if we got a little more of that. because we do see how miaomiao becomes part of the story rather than someone just playing with dolls, so i think we lose out a bit, but the effect is still present. miaomiao describes yao in such a good light, and sees fuyi as a himbo, basically, but as we get scenes of them, i think we see that fuyi is much more than that, especially in regards to keeping ziqis secret when he finds out. and yao, i think she basically lives up to her saintly description, but we also see shes very childish when it comes to love and rather harsh towards ziqi, to the point where i think the viewer truly would believe that she wouldnt accept him for his demon form even after all theyve been through with cuicui and fuyis belief that demons can become good.

Whereas the drama is about these stunningly picturesque scenes, grand gestures, amazing chemistry between Esther and Ding Yuxi that can't be captured in words. Its incremental progress vs leaps. I like both types of developments, but it would have been nice if we could have both in the drama version.

yeah, i think if anything, that totally was the oneeeeee thing im missing. im not Upset because i do believe ziqis character is 100% a "fell first and fell harder" type, so it wouldnt take much for him to fall in love, but it doesnt mean i didnt want to see him being like "shes different than i thought." though the way the story flows, thats kinda the only way for it to go, yknow? she sees his demon form and accepts him, and thats all it takes for him to start falling, disregarding his previous grievances with her basically. there was nothing for them to "work through" in this sense here.

Ep 7 and 8 uses a lot of dialogue and scenes from the novel that show why they needed a friendship period even though they find each other attractive, and she shows that she's not scared of him.

yes and no. they definitely shouldve had one, but how things flow in the drama (i didnt read the novel so feel free to educate me!), between all that happens in ep 7 and ep 8, it almost felt like there was no time for that to happen. if anything, maybe instead of his percent going up from being jealous of seeing her with fuyi, they couldve done something there, but the version of ziqi theyre trying to portray is one who is already beginning to like her romantically, skipping over the friendship part and just wanting to Be Together. like a desperate lovesick puppy.

He takes off his robe, so she can treat his chest wounds. No romance or tension there. Just her being sad for him when she sees his old scars.

oh dont worry i understood it wasnt romantic, but the tension wouldve been imposed on by me, the reader, LOL. ooh la la, if i may.

I think this is Miaomiao's misunderstanding though. When it comes to physical stuff, he doesn't want to do anything that would make her uncomfortable or scared. If Miaomiao was shyer, they probably never get past chaste kissing, lol.

LOL for real. its very sweet how gentle he is, and how her touches mean something to him because shes not rough like he is when he grabs someone, shes just a physically affectionate person.

She insists that next time will be the charm. They're meant to be.

i dont think i realized this until you mentioned it! thinking back, she really doesnt have friendship moments with fuyi. its just her driving the plot in a different direction. dang! thats sad!

He's a demon hunter because this is what Mu Yao wants. The drama hand-waves away the hardship and pain that comes with being a demon hunter.

In the novel, its clear that he doesn't want Mu Yao to be in a profession where she gets hurt and might die, but this is what she wants to do, so he can only support her despite the physical cost. He is often badly injured and comes close to dying in order to save strangers because he doesn't want to disappoint Mu Yao. It's Miaomiao that says while she finds it admirable that Mu Yao and Liu Fuyi are altruistic saviors, it's fine that he doesn't want to sacrifice himself to save strangers. He's not wrong for feeling that way. That she also feels this way.

"i know hes in the wrong. i know it was his fault and he had bad intentions, and his words in response to her were also not very kind. but… placating her and telling her he doesn't like arguing with her, that sister knows best, just because he cant deal with hearing her say these hurtful things anymore, and he cant handle it if his sister has such a negative view of him, all while hes trying to smile. its genuinely hurting him internally, as we see in a moment. "if you think it was me, then it was me." it was basically you, and it makes me frustrated to see him so upset over his own doing. i feel bad but i dont. hes trying so hard not to cry, but goddammit, you had this coming you bastard."

I love how you phrase it! I thought their conversation was so, so good. That Mu Yao is being too harsh, but Mu Sheng did do something wrong, and they both know it. Their complicated, messy relationship is so interesting, and I wish we saw more of it.

Your observation skills are so good! You catch so many little details. I love all the body gestures and movements that Esther and Ding Yuxi do in the drama. I wonder how much was improvised vs part of the script.

Agree, and I thought it was weird he doesn't ask her why she wants to burn the Mu's ancestral map. 

In the novel, it's because she read the original work and she has nightmares about it after she transmigrates (I don't think this is shown in the drama), so she knows what he's going to do. BUT, she doesn't directly confront him about it. Unlike in the drama, she's very cautious and tries her best to not reveal any information that Lin Yu wouldn't know in front of Mu Sheng.

My guess is they're supposed to visually reflect the change in his emotional state. For example, in ep 18's script.

"△ The lotus in Mu Sheng’s heart lake suddenly turned completely black, leaving only half of the petals still red.

"the one where she throws him off entirely by acting all obsessed had him pause as to why she was going to such lengths to lie, and what her goal was. yes, he wanted to get her out because he doesnt like her at all, but that was so nefarious-seeming that he just… walked away. also, it was weird."

On one hand, I thought that scene was hilarious. Its my favorite scene in the drama, and I'm entertained enough to not think too deeply about it. This scene doesn't exist in the novel, but there are ones where he reacts similar-ish if you want an explanation.

In the novel, she constantly seeks him out to increase his favorability % and shows concern and for one reason or another will end up hugging him, and this leads to him letting her off each time. It's easy to see that he's touch-starved and longs for affection. Once he likes her even just as a friend, he can easily be bribed to look the other way with hugs or agree to her requests.

On the other hand, I think it would make way more sense if the drama followed the novel's scene order and had them playing 5-in-a-row games all night early on, and we heard his thoughts so the audience knows why this marks a shift in how he views Miaomiao.

How this is the first time he's learning something that's not for Mu Yao's interests, how he's been pretending to be bad at Go (and his skills as a demon hunter) to get Mu Yao's attention, etc. Its easy to see that he and Mu Yao haven't outgrown their relationship dynamic from their childhood, which was fine then, but has become an unhealthy codependency as adults.

If that happened before Miaomiao's fake confession scene, his response to it would feel less weird.

Some random thoughts after reading your post. We eventually find out that Mu Sheng has always known that the Resentful Woman is hiding inside Mu Yao, so what was his long-term plan? Instead of letting her know so they can work together to get rid of the Resentful Woman, he's deciding that he knows what's best for her. And, this isn't a problem that can go away if he hides it. The Resentful Woman will only grow stronger and be harder to defeat. So frustrating.

This is like Guo Xiu unilaterally making the decision to tamper with the villagers' memories. He's playing god, and there's no consequences to him other than his guilt. The script's narrative pushes the idea that this is for their own good and he makes up it up to them with his building talisman, but all he's really done is rob them of seven years. It's extra bad because the median lifespan for people in ancient times is low.

These villagers can't emotionally move on. In practical matters, this is an ancient world, and it would be harder for women if their husbands die and they don't remarry. The author set the novel to take place in a fantasy version of the Tang Dynasty, where it was fine for women to remarry. Had Guo Xiu been honest with them or just done nothing so they know people are disappearing, they could have chosen to move away from this dangerous place.

Maybe, some villagers would choose to throw their lives away to look for their loved ones, but that's their choice.

Lol if it was ShOckING then how can it be expected and something "we shouldnt feel surprised by"? Even with shocking character moments in got they were still expected and made sense for them. Events like the jaime attacking ned or cersie putting joff on the throne never left an audience confused after and go on the internet to try scramble an excuse for them because we understood who these characters were and what matters to them as they played on screen. No one was actually thinking that daemon would still be hung up over being replaced as viserys' heir 20yrs later and be so angry as to hurt rhaenyra his brothers daughter and wife over it. Like if the writers had done their job in showing who daemon really is than the moment daemon and rhaenyra started having conflict and were alone together we shouldve felt nothing but dread for rhaenyra. But we didnt and the choke came out of nowhere. Because to us the show was building towards daemon never hurting his family as his one(1) and only redeeming quality that was keeping him away from straight up villain territory. And the fact that even the writers had to come out and explain that scene is proof they either failed to do what they wanted to do or they used a scene of domestic violence as ultimately just for shock value.

"Shock value is the potential of an image, text, action, or other form of communication, such as a public execution, to provoke a reaction of sharp disgust, shock, anger, fear, or similar negative emotions".

Unfortunately American media is full of it. It's kind of their thing. It's easy to provoke an emotional reaction, it's very difficult to create a multilayered story. So they prefer the former.

House of the Dragon particularly suffers from it. Examples:

Viserys ordering the slaughter of his wife and showing that slaughter on screen. No guys it's not a feminist take. Showing a woman's belly being cut in half is not feminism. It's shock value.

Laena ordering her dragon to burn her alive when she was already dying anyway. Again, not feminism, sorry. The quiet tragedy of a woman dying in childbirth and the grief of her husband are obviously not impressive enough for dumb Americans so let's include a totally idiotic suicide that makes zero sense narratively just to provoke a reaction = shock value.

Larys masturbating on Alicent's feet. Adds nothing to the narrative, we already know that Larys is evil as fuck and we already know that Alicent is using him to USURP the rightful heir. These things are already established. A negotiation that should have been meaningful for Alicent's character, by showing her cunningness, determination and plotting skills is reduced to meaningless victimisation, thus objectifying one of the main ANTAGONISTS of the series in order to evoke a reaction of disgust = shock value.

Rhaenys' girlbossification. Added absolutely nothing to the narrative apart from shock, sure, kill a bunch of civilians just to threaten the usurpers? And then leave? What? One of the most stupid scenes in the show.

Crispy Cream killing Laenor's lover. Another extremely stupid scene. Didn't make ANY sense, Crispy got zero conséquence for it, I literally don't understand why that scene was included other than its shock value because it's a game of thrones wedding.

Daemon killing Rhea. Jeez. Horrible, horribly shot, horribly acted, Daemon had less human traits than a fucking Dementor I mean WTF. Am I supposed to care about this woman that appeared on screen for 1 minute? Lol I literally dgaf. It was included merely for shock value and it didn't even shock me because it was just so pointless. That's another level of lame right there.

Daemon choking Rhaenyra, the woman he spent 10+ years pining after, the woman he wanted to protect by exiling himself. The woman that just lost their baby and her throne. That woman. Sure guys domestic violence can occur in a couple that seemed to love each other deeply before the first violent strike, but that's real life. In fiction, it doesn't work that way, sorry. In fiction, when you show a character having a certain trait, you fucking STICK.TO.IT. You don't change that on a whim. If you show that Daemon is loyal to his family, he needs to stay loyal to his family, period. Characters in fiction have an interior logic that doesn't exist in the real world. Real people don't necessarily have that interior logic but fictional characters do. You mess up that logic, you fuck up the story. Aristotle said about tragedy that characters need to be static and that is the most important part. STATIC. It's the narrative that moves the characters forward. They don't just randomly throw a fit out of nowhere because of a random change in personality. But if you use the word STATIC to an American producer they may faint out of boredom because they have literally two brain cells. So yeah again, adds nothing to the narrative apart from shock. Not feminism, just stupid shock value.

Ned's death and Cersei putting Joffrey on the throne were shocking scenes but we ALREADY KNEW that Joffrey is a piece of shit and Cersei wants to put him on the throne. We were only interested in the how the hell are they gonna do that. And when we saw it it was magnificent. It elevated their character arcs by moving the plot forward. That's great storytelling.

Hi hi i read through all of your character analysis and i completly agree with most of the stuff. Like i really love these guys but atlus did some of them so dirty???

Like i LOVE morgana, but like everyone i really hate his whole arc during the okumura arc. And it pisses me of so so much cuz i know that that whole thing was stupid and morgana shouldve AT LEAST apologized to my guy ryuji but still i love my little furball of a friend. And then i get so sad every time i watch a playthrough and most of the players dont like morgana. Like i absolutely get where they come from but it still makes me sad. I think i just got really attached to his snarky commentary through my day to day life and him telling me to GO TO BED while other people just got really annoyed by it. But you are absolutely right that the writers shouldve just picked the story for morgana and stuck to it cuz it really is just all over the place... but still i cant keep from loving him (maybe it also got somewhat to do with de fanon version of him)

COMPLETLY different thing, but with all the characters we have been talking about that got done dirty, WHY does ann have like the most compelling arc about going against a f ing RAPIST, standing up for herself and just overall giving a big ass fuck you to everyone seeing her as only a object of sex appeal, and then the IMMEDIATE next arc goes "haha you want to unwillingly pose NUDE for some random guy? Haha nevermind you dont get a choice its either this or nothing else" like WHAT??? At least let her have her own say in this??? And then the rest of the game keeps doing this by giving her and ryuji constant scenes of him making eyes at her... I just kinda ignored all that. I think its really sad that everytime these scenes happen in japanese media i got to roll my eyes and think okay thats the required fan service out of the way lets get on with ANYTHING else. But thats the way it is i guess

hi! just wondering how (or if) your opinion on volume 2 and s4 on the whole has shifted since you first watched it, since I know I've reconsidered and realised certain things since it dropped. (this is in regards to the season in general, not just byler btw). also hope you're doing well <3

i think character wise there are some flaws, but if we’re just talking about the supernatural plot in hawkins alone i think its by far their best season, the cgi for people getting vecna’d, the set design of the mind lair and the upside down, the bats, the makeup for vecna, it in my opinion skyrockets anything theyve done before.

this was my favorite villain. i liked that it had a backstory and could talk and get in peoples heads. previously its mostly just been faceless monsters, which i always loved, but this one just adds such a cool element to it. i also absolutely LOVED that they brought back the og monsters in russia!! the demogorgan the demodogs the mindflayer i loved seeing them again. i like how everything connects and its not like “now this guys coming after you!!!” i like how they kept the hive mind thing a huge part of the story.

going off of that, another one of my favorite parts is how many callbacks there were to season one. i fucking love how running up that hill played a similar role that should i stay or should i go did. and there was so much else. the lights!!! i LOVED that we learned how will communicated with the lights and the lite brite was a genius way to show them talking. the compasses messing up the electromagnetic field, el having another isolation tank bath, even just the energy level of excitement for dnd again. i loved it. it felt like stanger things.

and there were a lot more subtle things like that too. they reused so much of their old score tracks and they did it at really cool parts. like they played the track for for the lights that played when joyce first put all the christmas lights up. that one im sure a lot of people noticed but i watched s1 after volume 1 came out and i noticed that after el lifts mike up from the cliff at the quarry and they play that epic song, she falls and then tells mike that she opened the gate and that shes the monster. and they played the same track in episode 7 when we see her opening the gate!!!!!!!! thats so fuckin cool!!!

i am the most impressed by this season by far but yeah there are some criticism i agree with. the kids shouldve had a funeral for eddie, i wish will had more of a supernatural plot (i was really hoping when vecna had el choked in the mind lair and he was explaining his backstory he would start talking about how will was his first victim and why :/), i didnt love argyle, and obviously im extremely disappointed in what theyve done to mike. if they didnt wanna go with byler then ok i can live with that but then he should have hugged him for real at the airport and not exclude him for el again. i also dont at all understand the purpose of their “you dont love me anymore” fight if he genuinely does love her. it seems like bylers still happening based on some stuff but if it is, he shouldnt have said he loved her. i say that mostly for els sake than for byler.

its like when a new album by your favorite band is coming out and all the singles that came out before the album are AMAZING and youre so excited to hear the rest and then the album comes out and the rest of the songs arent as good as those singles and youre kinda sad but you still call it your favorite album because those singles are some of the best songs theyve ever made and they takeover the rest of the album. in this case the singles are all the amazing scenes, cgi, cinematography, set designs, acting (sadie!!), etc. and the less great songs are some of the character development (not all. lumax was amazing).

despite everything its still my favorite season. i fell in love with this show originally for the scifi story and this seasons scifi/horror plot is the best theyve ever done by far.

you had sunwoo on your mind for days that you are lacking of sleep. it doesnt sit quite right for you to have this 'romantic' feelings for your bestfriend. meanwhile, sunwoo is not helping you to clear up your mind at all. he's just always there beside you no matter what.

he'd wait at the bus stop just to go to class together with you in the morning even when you're running late. lunch time together is a must unless one of you had other plans. both of you are just stuck together anywhere you go.

so for once, you thought it'd be a good plan to avoid him today. you woke up early that morning to get to class and you texted sunwoo that you had a discussion with your groupmates. this went on for a few days, you were making excuses everyday but sunwoo believed you.

until he couldnt take it anymore.

you felt your phone vibrating in your pocket and you saw sunwoo on the caller id. you were hesitating to pick it up until you felt someone grabbing your wrist from the back, turning you around.

"found ya!"

sunwoo appeared in front of you with the brightest smile. you couldn't help but to feel happy and welcomed by him that you started smiling unknowingly. you get back to your senses seconds later and avoided his eyes.

sunwoo knew something was wrong when he saw your expression fell. he glanced at your phone that kept ringing. he ended the call and your phone went off too.

you couldnt stand seeing sunwoo looking all gloomy and upset. you felt bad for ignoring him so you tried making up excuses again.

like. morro is simultaneously foils for both lloyd and kai. last season, kai's "im gonna be the green ninja !!!!!!" gets brought up again by both chen and lloyd and also further brought up by lloyd that kai still… hasnt really gotten over himself, but it doesnt really get properly followed up either then or now. he's still subconsciously prioritizing gaining glory for himself as opposed to prioritizing what needs to get done, even if it means that he's not the one to do it.

this carries further again back into the beginning of the arc after lloyd is gone and kai keeps trying to be the leader, even if he repeatedly has no idea what he's doing. its about his glory, not about who would make the best leader (zane its zane the only reason zane leading didnt work out was because the writers knew it would be too powerful), and again is relevant to the arc because kai does this to try and fill the void in the team that lloyd left. its about the two of them.

given morro's existence as somebody who started off as "im gonna be the green ninja !!!!!!!!" and then never got over it, you'd think that we wouldve gotten a fight between him and kai where we circle back to the things brought up last season by lloyd (which works out really nicely as morro is connected to both of them by nature of being narrative foils) and we get a nice tidy wrap up in a battle of ideologies.

ok consider, for a moment: kai wants to be the one to take the glory and beat the snot out of the giant hairy eyeball, and then at some point realizes that lloyd is the one who has to beat it. unfortunately for him, lloyd is in the middle of a deathmatch with morro, so kai steps in to take morro on, making good on his promise to look out for lloyd, so that lloyd can go fulfill his destiny or whatever and save ninjago. as a result, kai steps away from his ego and the moment of glory he's always wanted bc he's realized that there are more important things to deal with, and then we get a fight dialogue abt how kai also thought he was going to be the green ninja and morro is like "why dont you resent lloyd too?!" and kai responds that he got over himself and his massive ego because !! character development !!!!! and the reason this fight is happening at all being because kai has finally let go of his need for glory & because morro never did and AUGH IT COULDVE WORKED OUT SO WELL

going back to lloyd i really dont understand why he wasnt the one to kill the preeminent - esp given his conversation with garmadon about how lloyd needs to grow up one day & how lloyd has his robe now symbolizing him taking on his dad's mantle, it wouldve made wayyyy more sense to have him be the one to finish the job and put his father to rest. yknow. like do i want to subject lloyd to round three of killing his dad? no ofc not but also. thematically yes absolutely

so then, the question becomes, if lloyd is the one to nuke the preeminent… where does that leave nya? and my answer to that is: she shouldve gotten a separate arc, frankly. this arc shouldve been about lloyd & kai's relationship, but in the canon arc nya is kind of just shoehorned in there to the detriment of pretty much everybody, including herself. she's got no narrative or thematic connection to the preeminent, shes not really relevant to the arc outside of the final battle, and she honestly deserved better.

OKAY PLOT STUFF ASIDE my brain has finally started turning on and the thought gears are cranking and i am beginning to form Opinions, which is great for me because i love having opinions. umm okay this is the other arc i am very familiar with and i had a ton of fun. it was very enjoyable. i got my terrible alt outfits and i am THRIVING
