connections between venti and arlecchino that i found particularly interesting, a rambling 🗣️
ARLECCHINO STORY QUEST SPOILERS‼️‼️
(these r just some cool things i found kinda sus and interesting. this was for fun.)
1. first, my thoughts on clervie — specifically what she says in response to learning about mondstadt:
2. the similarities between arlecchino and venti regarding “freedom”:
venti fought for freedom that was earned, and eventually became the god of freedom shortly after he earned said freedom.
he also tested vennessa. he tested her by saying he could grant her freedom and waited to see if she would leave the cell with him, but she didn’t. she stayed and showed him how freedom was meant to be earned, not given. venti was more than satisfied with her answer and left.
venti has shown time and time again that he believes freedom is meant to be earned. at least, that’s how i see his character and his ideals.
now i want to bring up what arlecchino said towards the end of her story quest. i find it interesting how she also believes that freedom is meant to be earned, not given.
pretty interesting.
3. now for my own personal rant and theories:
“freedom” itself is always being mentioned in this game. it started in mondstadt, the nation embodying freedom. the god of freedom himself entered the fray and showed us what freedom truly meant.
liyue was “freed” from their own god, who saw it time to step down from his position as archon and left the task of ruling & protecting liyue to the humans.
wouldn’t say there’s much freedom in inazuma tbh. unless you count the people being “freed” from the vision hunt decree and the sakoku decree.
nahida being freed from the hands of the sages/akademiya.
furina being freed from her curse and the act she played out for 500 years.
i wonder if we’ll see any freedom in natlan too.
ANYWAYS, ALL THIS TO SAY (i didnt mean for this to become a venti rant, i have constant venti brainrot) — i believe that venti and freedom play an ENORMOUS part in the lore of the game and we haven’t seen anything yet.
i am a firm believer that venti is one of the most important characters in this game. bro has lore in literally every nation, maybe with the exception of fontaine (iirc, there hasn’t been anything in fontaine calling back to barbatos).
he even has lore in the chasm and enkanomiya, which says A LOT. i haven’t finished the remuria world quest yet, so idk if there’s any lore about him or istaroth sprinkled there too. tbh i wouldn’t be surprised if there was.
everything always comes full circle when it comes to venti. he’s everywhere, which is pretty cool to think about when you realize that he’s supposed to be the embodiment of the wind, which is everywhere all at once and can hear everything.
which brings me to my last point —
4. this voiceline from arlecchino about the wind.
hmmm.. 🤨
#firm believer of clervie being an anemo vision wielder if she survived#clervie would’ve loved mondstadt and everything to do with the nation as whole including barbatos#someone needs to take away my venti privileges bc the brainrot never stops#yes this is kind of a call back to venti maybe being the most powerful archon#i did not mean to turn this into a whole thing i originally just wanted to talk about clervie and mond#well aware that arlecchino knowing about venti’s ability to hear shit on the wind might be common knowledge#but at the same time how would she know that bc realistically only venti would know??#unless im just stupid#why do i feel like arlecchino def knows venti is barbatos#i mean it would make sense given that signora knew venti’s identity#I NEED TO STOP RAMBLING#genshin impact#genshin#venti#genshin venti#mondstadt#arlecchino#arlecchino genshin#— [ venti rambles. ]#— [ rambles ] ; eydís talks!

I have two things to ask:
1.-Can we be friends?
2.-Do you have any Outsiders headcanons (or any that you haven't submitted yet)?
I mean sure?? Idk who you are since you’re on anon, so not REALLY, but I’m always down to talk!
2. Yeah lol- tons. Too many. Here’s a few (okay like 25 oops) off the top of my head lol, some serious/angsty and some lighthearted/kinda stupid without any real order. (Lotta ‘em are about Steve tbh -there’s so little to him in canon that I have the freedom to hc pretty much whatever I want)
Steve Randle’s nearsighted and has no idea, which is why he’s literally always squinting. (I’ve had that one for like months but only recently mentioned it on here lol.) Steve thinks his vision is completely normal
Dally and Sylvia genuinely cared for each other, but they were both so horrible at having healthy emotions that they just made each other worse. In a bad way, not a fun way.
When Steve gets kicked out, sometimes he hangs with Johnny in the lot. They don’t really talk about anything important like their shared experiences of having lousy parents. Instead they talk about cars, girls, music, school…lighthearted stuff. Sometimes Johnny will find Steve crying, which he never mentions- he’ll just sit down as per usual, which Steve appreciates. Steve almost never finds Johnny crying though. Johnny doesn’t cry much.
Okay tangent- I love how Steve and Johnny are low-key foils. Like Steve always seems tough but then cries when pushed to his limit, while Johnny always seems skittish until he’s under a bunch of pressure- in which case he suddenly is confident. (Not necessarily thriving obviously, but confident yk? Like grinning while saving those kids in the fire.) I know SE Hinton probably didn’t intend that at all, but it’s just such an interesting detail to me. One of these days I’ll put it into words better
Johnny’s jeans-jacket is a hand-me-down from either Steve or Two-Bit. (I can’t decide which lol) (obviously Dally would make sense too, but honestly I think it’d add more depth to flesh out Johnny’s relationships with the other members of the gang)
After the events of the book, Two-Bit starts hanging around the Curtis’s place even more. At first the gang assumes he’s trying to lighten the mood. It’s only after he gets sent to the cooler for a month due to drunk driving that they realize he was actually hanging around so much because he was trying to keep his kid sister from seeing him so drunk…
Two-Bit likes to joke that he keeps failing junior year so that him and his sister can graduate together. Which is a very bad idea since his sister is a year younger than Ponyboy.
Sodapop often feels like he’s only good for looking pretty and not all that useful or interesting otherwise. He likes himself, but when he stops to think about it too much, he starts to wonder if he really has anything going for him at all
My H/C for Steve’s home life is that his Mom is sick w/ like cancer or something. Before she got sick, Steve’s life was pretty alright for an eastsider- he and his dad fought, but they always made up for the most part. They weren’t perfect, but they loved each other. But after she got sick, she wasn’t there to mediate between Steve and his Dad anymore, and the fighting got worse and worse. And then Steve’s dad started drinking more and it was pretty downhill from there. Steve’s Dad still loves him, but sometimes Steve wishes that he didn’t. If he didn’t, then he could hate him. But his dad does love him, so he can’t get himself to.
Steve and Dally taught Johnny to drive when they were all like fourteen-fifteen-ish. Johnny is a very reckless driver. He loves speeding.
Johnny also loves fast roller coasters and stuff.
Dally doesn't ‘cuz he’s low-key scared of heights- he likes riding broncos and rodeos, but put him at the top of a roller coaster and he’s convinced that it’s gonna break and he’s gonna die. He pretends he doesn’t mind. The only people who know he’s scared of them are Johnny, and before she died, Mrs. Curtis.
Steve has a napoleon complex. Johnny, who is shorter than him by a few inches, likes to bully him for it sometimes
Ponyboy and Cherry don’t interact much in the school year after the book, but in the summer after, they start to hang out. Eventually they become pretty close. They fangirl over Paul Newman together
Ponyboy still doesn’t let Cherry read his theme though until years later
Marcia and Two-Bit re-meet a few months after the book. (Two-Bit is really scared that she’s embarrassed to be dating him, and Marcia is really scared that he’s embarrassed to be dating her. Neither of them are embarrassed. They both adore each other.)
Two-Bit likes to watch Marcia barrel racing. One time while he’s there, he runs into Ponyboy watching Cherry barrel race and immediately tells everyone much to Pony’s chagrin
Evie knows a little bit about cars, and she sometimes helps out at the DX during summers. Steve is so whipped for her lol (and Soda too Steve has two hands)
Evie and Sylvia are besties, but Steve and Sylvia hate each other. They act civil in front of Evie, but as soon as her back is turned they’re growling at each other like dogs. (Well Steve is. Sylvia just acts condescending as hell. Sometimes it goes over his head, so Steve knows she’s insulting him but isn’t sure what the insult is/means. Which makes Steve kinda want to kill her.)
Steve and Soda are low-key co-dependent. (Steve more so- Soda has his family at least, while to Steve, Soda and Evie are his whole world pretty much) It’s probably not super healthy, and both of them are vaguely aware of that, but are trying not to think about it too hard rn
Ponyboy’s friend group in high school consists of Curly Shepard, Mark Jennings, Scout Jenkins (from the tv show), and eventually, in her senior year, Cherry Valance. (There’s others too but those are the main ones.)
Pony dates Cathy Carlson for a while too, idk if they’re good for each other or not- I kinda like the idea of them being a sweet couple tbh, but no one else on here seems to care about them so I haven’t really explored the idea much lol
In a Dally lives au, Mark Jennings and Dally end up spending a bit of time together through Pony, and at some point they realize that they’re half-brothers lol. Mark is a deeply obnoxious little brother to have, and he drives Dally nuts on purpose. Weirdly I think Dally’s a relatively good influence on him, as much as someone like Dally can be. And Dally does care for Mark, though not as much as he cares for Johnny- Mark is, in his head, not exactly his responsibility.
Well I have (so many) more, but I think that’s enough for now lol. Point is, even though I haven’t drawn in a minute, I love these characters and their romanticized version of 1960s Tulsa so much and I think about them way too often lol
(dw once i get more into the swing of school I’ll be doin more art!)

idk if this has been done already but here's OUAW party as the Soldier, Poet, King alignments headcanons
Gideon and Torbek are Soldiers
Gricko is the Poet
Frost and Kremy are Kings
Twig started out as a Poet, but I think she's on her way to becoming King
more elaborate ramblings under the cut
this is all how I understand them and the alignments btw (+ some articles I found and what I remember of edits back when the song went viral)
Gideon is what you think of when you hear Soldier, the viral quiz talks about strength and anger, about using your physical power to deal with things, for better or for worse - all of this feels cut out to measure for Gideon. His strength is who he is, his identity, and his freedom. He's proud of it, putting up a fight brings him joy. Does this also mean that sometimes he struggles to approach more delicate matters? yeah, but he does try his best. Sometimes the strength is also his shield and the walls he builds, especially with his past, he needs to keep pushing onward, the danger is always in the back of his mind, and he needs to keep fighting. It's hard to relax and let others help him, shield him, it's hard but he's getting there. Soldiers also know who they are, they choose their role of protectors and fighters.
Torbek is also a Soldier, not like Gid tho, there's more to it clearly, with The Other (/Duke or whatever). Torbek also chose his role as a soldier, he cares for his friends, for the people who took care of him, and kept him around, he'll do anything to protect them and fight for them. He's most useful with his physical abilities and strength rather than his mind so he uses what he knows best to help. The measure of violence and anger overwhelming any other solutions is of course much different for Torbek, because of The Other. I think that's why Torbek chooses the role of soldier, he knows what to do to be the most useful, but there's conflict within, he keeps running and fighting but more from what's within him.
Gricko is a Poet, because he believes in the power of his heart, spirit and words over anything else. He's the oldest of the group, and he's experienced a lot, but I believe that throughout it all he realised that without a steady, strong heart and spirit, without love, care and humour, you won't get far. Hootsie was of course a big part of all of this. In the quiz poet's are also described as lonely people, the type to wear their heart on their sleeve, and give to others at the cost of their own feelings. I see that in Gricko, even if a lot of his interruptions are done for comedic value, there is hardly any true ill intent behind them. Gricko is also a performer, writer and musician, he keeps art close and uses it to help others (e.g. calming down Torbek with his singing)
Frost is a King and I think he knows it, he's accepted that the role fits him and found comfort in it. Some say that kings are poets made fighters, I think that tracks with (what I know at least) about his backstory, there was that breaking point, a tragedy that changed him, that made him turn to his calculated side and focus on his goals, duty, and put emotions to the side. Suddenly a different purpose was thrown on to him and he had to follow it. He's seemingly cold, always analysing, maybe even distant with his monotone voice, perhaps he thinks he has to be, keep his hands steady and his mind sharp. But Frost still cares, the emotions might be shoved to the side but not gone, he still wants to help and cares for his friends, even if it means constantly "mending" things they broke.
Kremy is a King, who didn't expect to get that result when he took the quiz, as many other kings to be fair. He thinks of himself as a poet, a master of words, charisma, schemes and contracts. He's also a good performer and a good cook, who puts his heart into the food he prepares. On the other hand, he fought his way to get the status he has, so how is he the king…? But then, he is the leader of the carnival, he is the face of the party, the one willing to bargain and talk his way out of things with just about anyone, create alliances and turn them into betrayals in a heartbeat. He's doing what needs to be done, he's fulfilling his duty. He's also a warlock, there's a line in the quiz about "[king] you were told to do things and you did them", which, his relationship with his patron isn't exactly that, but if we remember Garou, there is definitely a connection. I also think that Kremy is always on alert, always presentable and charming, hardly ever dropping his mask no matter how exhausting it gets. Sometimes or maybe more than that, he wishes he could, but again, he has things to do, a duty to fulfil in order to keep his friends safe.
Twig - I think the adventures are making her, metaphorically, pick up the sword. She's so kind and warm, maybe even naive when she was still running her inn, celebrating simpler things and being the happiest when she made others happy. She was also incredibly lonely in her inn, as the Poets tend to be. But now with all the happenings, I have a feelings she might be on her way to becoming King. I don't think it's certain, but what I'm trying to say is that she wanted a jolly adventure but realised there's much more danger and responsibility, that she has to fight for her friends. for her family, she has a duty to protect them. She asked for the adventure but she was thrown into something much bigger than her and now she has to fight. I somewhat hope she'll in the end stay true to her heart and won't bury it for anyone's sake, and will keep being a poet. Another argument for her being a poet is her brownie nature, maybe always feeling a little off or like she might not be welcomed, due to her turning into a boggart when overwhelmed by negative emotions.
okay that's all, I wanted to try and wrap my head around this because I love the song and also love psychoanalysing characters, alignments n all so :) yeah

Oh that makes so much sense!! Institutes did kinda sound like a 'we make perfect omegas' in a bad way type of thing!! SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR OMEGA! READER ANGST AHHHHHHHHHH
That makes me wonder even more about how the omega's felt about each other, did they empathize with each other since they were all in the same boat?? Did they have toxic competitions with each other to be given to 'good' alpha's??? WHAT WAS WITH THE GIRL OMEGA! READER KISSED???
I just want to take the fic and shake it between my teeth like a rabid dog because of the LORE 😩😩 any bits of lore I can get that won't make you spoil the story I will eat like it's the last thing in the world because I am a WHORE for a thought out and well written backstory 🧎♀️🧎♀️
Yeah, that pretty much sums up institutes perfectly. "We make perfect omegas but we are not ethical about it." The saddest thing is most people don't even know what they're like unless they've worked in one, know an omega that went to one that was brave enough to speak up about it, or are an omega that went through one. Unfortunately there's not a lot that can be done in terms of changing institutes (though we'll be seeing here shortly in the fic that there are some things happening in that regard).
As far as the omegas in the institute...it really depends. Omegas can have a lot of personality (as we can see in the fic) but the institutes try and squash that as much as possible. I think things could go either way. I do think they have a lot of empathy for each other, especially in the beginning as they adjust to the institute and its expectations. It's an omega's nature to be nurturing and empathetic and put a bunch of them together in the same space going through the same things, it's hard to keep those natural instincts from coming through.
That being said, again, personalities differ and there could be some that see it as a competition. Especially in institutes like the reader went to where most of these omegas came from rich/powerful families and they know that's what their being groomed for. Of course some of them are going to turn it into a competition to get the highest scores and see any omega that's better than them as a threat. But I think over time that sort of dies down as they all begin to have their personalities broken down and get taught how to be subservient and obedient. I think it would be more common in younger, more newly presented omegas to have that sort of competitive nature, but as the time passes and they go through all those lessons and tests, they begin to kind of realize no one is on their side but their fellow omegas and those natural empathetic bonds start to form.
Haha, yeah, so idk if anyone put two and two together but the omega that the reader kissed is the same omega that gave her the sweatshirt. That was why she volunteered herself to do it. I don't feel like I explained it very well in the fic, but not every omega is obviously going to be as good or willing to learn as the reader was. (Part of reader's backstory plays into that but we'll be getting into that more in detail later in the fic.) Some omegas that might have grown up differently or had more influence or freedom in their lives before they presented might have a bit of a struggle conforming to the standards institutes hold, and some might even resist it. Essentially there was an omega in the same age group as the reader that had grown up with more "progressive" ideas, was seen as rebellious and really fought the institute and its attempts to conform all these omegas to the standards they hold.
Of course she had a bit of an impact on a few of the omegas, one of them being the omega that reader had a crush on, who was one of reader's bunk mates (they slept four to a room in bunks so those were kind of who they were the closest to). She's the one that got the book smuggled in for her and didn't want an alpha to be her first kiss so reader volunteered to do it for her. I do think she knew how the reader felt about her, but it's sort of an impossible situation. They both knew they'd probably get picked up fast and they'd probably never see each other again (which is basically what happened for one of them) so there was no way they could have pursued those feelings without major heartbreak after. And of course institutes strictly forbid omegas forming bonds with each other for that reason.
I like to think that omega wound up in a nice place with a good alpha and is living a happy life. She still thinks fondly on the reader and probably would be jealous that the reader got to move to England lol.
I'm such a whore for world building you have no idea. Some things I so desperately want to talk about but also...we're nowhere near that in the fic yet 😫 I just want to spill everything but then the suspense and the angst and the shock and surprise in the fic will be ruined so I have to keep my mouth shut lmao.

I feel like the jttw fandom sometimes portrays that Erlang betrayed Yuding by joining heaven in a certain way (he's a rebel, but will he support them or do they have some ideals in common?) or when Erlang punished his sister. I also remember that someone mentioned a parallel about how Puti and Yuding would feel betrayed by SWK and Erlang's actions. I don't know if you mentioned anything about the relationship before. But could we call it betrayal? Genuine question. Nor whether adaptations of the legends of Erlang could have touched on this topic. Idk if adaptations of Erlang's stories mentioned this topic.
I feel like the jttw fandom sometimes portrays that Erlang betrayed Yuding by joining heaven in a certain way (he's a rebel, but will he support them or do they have some ideals in common?) or when Erlang punished his sister.
I think it still stands that Erlang is considered more rebellious than many gods of the chinese mythos. This is still portrayed in JTTW if you notice how Guanyin was the one that had to recommend Erlang's services, not the Jade Emperor. That and the Jade Emperor had to pay Erlang for his service when anyone else was following orders.
I can't say what most people accept but I always saw it that Erlang Shen doesn't follow orders he doesn't believe in. That he joined heaven because he does believed that there must be law and order not only for the preservation of the world but also for the sake of balance between the three realms. He understands when Heaven must be questioned but also personally has experienced what it means to break Heaven’s laws, seeing how his own mother broke Heaven’s rules and this crime led to the death of his father and brother. If there was something he didn't believe in or didn't approve of, then I don't think he would follow said orders. I still like to think that heaven sees him as a double-edged sword, it is good to have him on their side but if any of the celestials step out of line he would be the first to act.
Erlang and Sanseng are both considered to have trained under Yuding, and they both joined heaven. Erlang had a single mission in mind, and that was to save his mother, and in his tale he was able to complete that quest, from then on out he would have no other conflict with heaven as long as he completed his mission. There was a chance that Erlang and Sanseng could have continued as immortals separated from heaven but they would still be followed under Eastern Heaven if they wished to be considered true immortals. Their being given the rank of deities would give them more freedom but also give them restrictions. There would be a risk of confrontation perhaps if they didn't join heaven.... but them joining the ranks of deity would not only allow them to work alongside their mother but also that their status in the immortals would never be questioned or challenged.
I don't think that joining heaven would have been seen as a betrayal... but I do think that Erlang putting his sister under the mountain could have been seen as one as that is a far more complex matter.
I have personally said this before that I think Erlang Shen kinda resents how his family turned out. His older brother and father were killed and his mother was trapped under a mountain because of his mother's crimes. While yes he saved his mother, there was nothing he could do for his brother or father. Not even fighting heaven and seeking revenge would help, rather it would cause more harm to others if he fought all of Heaven. He knew what it meant to go against heaven and what that meant for an anyone that wanted to start a family, what they would put their children through. Erlang Shen saw his sister commit the same acts that their mother did and perhaps... he felt betrayed by her actions on some level as well. That his sister would put her child through the fear and danger of being hunted down by heaven like they were. Nothing whether heaven was right or wrong to hunt them down in the first place, but that the outcome would be the same for her as it was for them.
That is why I think Erlang Shen was willing to put Sanseng Mu under the mountain, that he thought he was doing the right thing, as if trying to justify what happened to him. It makes him really multifaceted in how he responds to seeing his sister repeating their mother’s crimes and him resenting his own human nature, that connection to his dead father and brother, and what trauma it has caused him. I'm not saying that he was right to do so but that it gives him an explanation as to why he would do such a thing to his own sister. And in trapping her under the mountain he betrayed Yuding as well. He trained Erlang to fight against heaven to save his family, not to be the one to put it under again.
I think that Yuding would always want for Erlang to follow his own path, whether that aligns with heaven or not. Erlang was recruited by heaven, trying to justify his own pain that it was needed for him to grow, and thus he was trapped in the same cycle that trapped his mother, to trap his sister, trying to hold on to the idea that the pain that heaven did to their family was justified and thus justifying his own actions against Sanseng and her family. He resents that part of his human self as that is a constant reminder of why he was hunted down in the first place. That he always needs to suppress that and any reminder of that as well.
I feel like that is what makes Wukong and him good parallels in that Wukong was rejected by heaven but he still followed his own sense of justice. They both fought heaven, but Wukong believes he was wronged by Heaven’s disrespect and Erlang for the injustice his mother for the sake of family. However Yang Jian was the one to join heaven’s forces after his rebellion making a place in heaven while Sun Wukong believed he was owed more and more, pushing to the point of stealing three types of immortality. Erlang and Wukong refelct each other, both limited by society and their own desires to either follow their choices to their own destruction or learning how to change and adapt to their surroundings. Wukong is the one to try to overthrow heaven to fit what he deeps is ‘right’ through might. And Erlang instead joins heaven and choose to change what he deems is 'right’ while still within the laws. They are both outcasts (Wukong a yaoguai, and Erlang a product of an illegal union), both fought the Jade Emporer (Wukong for the sake of his status, and Erlang for the sake of saving his family), and both either being punished for their crimes or joining heaven, but only on THEIR terms. Erlang only joined heaven after his mother was saved and Wukong only joined heaven when he reached enlightenment and is no longer under the control of anyone in Eastern Heaven. They ended up in the same place but also refused to give up their personal freedoms as well.
I go off a lot here about their foils.
I also remember that someone mentioned a parallel about how Puti and Yuding would feel betrayed by SWK and Erlang's actions.
I can see something like that.
Wukong was exiled by Puti because Puti knew that Wukong's ambition grew too strong for not even heaven could control. He denounced him before he could even commit his first crimes, but Master Puti was wise enough to know what the future had in store. His most prized disciple led to one of the most devastating attacks on heaven. Puti prepared Wukong to take on anything but he never wanted him to on heaven and thus condemning Puti as well.
Yuding on the other hand had an active role in helping Erlang fight against heaven, to use his powers to save his family. He was able to do so, even gaining protection in his status by ensuring heaven wouldn't attack his mother or sister by gaining deity status. But in the end Erlang gave in to the cycle of pain and trapped his own sister. Using the powers that Yuding helped BOTH of them cultivate to harm each other.
I go off a lot here about Erlang's possible emotional turmoil with himself and why he would put his sister under a mountain out of his own free will.
I don't know if you mentioned anything about the relationship before. But could we call it betrayal? Genuine question.
I suppose as much as you could call Wukong going against Heaven a betrayal.
In the master-student relationship, students are meant to be seen as an extensions of their masters, that their actions reflect on their teachers, and that teachers can even be held responsible for their students' crimes as well.
Wukong by being Puti's student was not only to learn his power, but his ideals as well. But his ambition and desire for recognition and power made him discredit his master's teachings. Master Puti shows to value wisdom and personal growth focusing on the importance of cultivation in how it can help you rather than what it can do for you. Wukong was so desperate to learn for the sake of getting stronger but he never considered the consequences of his actions which led to him being cut off. Perhaps Wukong's lack of accountability could be seen as a betrayal if you think that if a person that you trust and care about isn't willing to change for your sake is the same then you can see it as such.
And Yuding could be in a similar case where he took in both a wayward Yang Jian and Yang Chan in order to save their mother and save themselves. They were being hunted by heaven, the only way they could survive was to learn cultivation, not out of personal desire but for the sake of their own security and saving their mother as well. Joining Heaven doesn't have to necessarily go against that, as their own convictions could align with the heavens as well but that Erlang used his power to try to justify what happened to him to repeat the cycle with his mother could be seen as such.
Students learn tools from their teachers and if they misuse what they have learned then it would be on them for such actions. A lot of this is speculation but I think that masters who see their students taking what they have personally taught them for purposes that go against their philosophies as well would have a sense of responsibility and thus a feeling of betrayl as well.
Nor whether adaptations of the legends of Erlang could have touched on this topic. Idk if adaptations of Erlang's stories mentioned this topic.
I haven't seen enough Erlang Shen media to know how often this topic is talked about or if there are any popular media interpretations of this. I would love to see a lot more of this actually! Not all Erlang Shen media follows the Lotus Lantern lore where he is one out of three siblings, as I have seen some where he is an only child like in the Li Erlang take. I know he is in a lot of FSYY media as well but not sure if that goes into his master-student relationship all that well.
In any case this is something I would love to see more in and def something I will try to watch more for my own sake as well.

*rattling the bars of my cage*
CLIVEEEEE. CLIVE ROSFIELDDDD
ahem. anyway im so normal about him.
definitely normal about how despite 13 years of living as a slave and forced into being an assassin/killer for the empire that played such a big role in destroying his life. totally normal about how before that he likely had to deal with his mother and her abusive behaviours towards him. MOST CERTAINLY NORMAL, about how he still cares for others and is still willing to lend a hand (see: the first sidequests you can access in game. literally just helping out the hideaway residents with mundane tasks like helping carrying wood and bringing people meals) despite the abuses and oppression and judgment he's suffered from so many people throughout his life. (i think its mentioned in game how at the start of his shield training he was mostly seen as just being indulged by his father. and that if we weren't any good at it people would have just thought he was a spoiled lordling or smth like that)(also, as the duchess, annabella likely greatly affected how clive was viewed by the people of rosaria. she treated him as a firstborn failure, and there were no doubt people who followed that example either because they believed her rhetoric or wanted to try and get/stay in her good graces. this would have affected everyone from the nobility, to the common people, to the servants of the household, at least to some degree) Every achievement clive did has been fought for through pain, and still he has come out as an empathetic and honest person (who cant lie lol. which is ironic because he was an assassin???? im guessing that means he just stayed silent most the time and slapped his scowl in his face as a defence idk)
just. ugh. i love him and the themes of resilience throughout his character arc go soooo well with the game and its emphasis on human will and freedom - even if that freedom involves evil being present in the world, as there will always be good people present too.
#ff16#ffxvi#clive rosfield#i lied. im not normal about him.#also he's hot and has sad puppy dog energy and soulful eyes. really ticks all my boxes for fictional characters i like.#im replaying the game on final fantasy mode so i can play the dlc and im having many emotions#i havent played since launch so its a nice refresher

I'm sorry I know it's been more than three hours but I'm still deep in my feels about totk and literally crying at the fact that Link, deeply hurt Link dropped the Master Sword and jumped into the void to try to catch and save Zelda, I'm so unwell about this, excuse me...
After everything these children have been throught, the fact that their friends and families died, the kingdom came to ruin, Link died and woke up an hundred years later, had to fix a past he doesn't remember and fight for a better future while trying to piece back his own memories and identity, meanwhile Zelda was imprisoned and had to fought against a monster all alone for so long while grieving but still trying to be hopeful that Link might wake up someday without any certainty... And the fact that they were already both suffering because of their destiny even before the tragedy hit, and thinking that at the end of botw they thought they could finally be free and heal, finally gain back their lifes and get to experience the freedom they never had like the teenagers they are...
But no ganondorf is still here and everything they went throught, the time and peoples they have lost, the suffering, sacrifices, and destruction were all for nothing ! And just that fact alone is enough to break my heart but it doesn't end there, Link gets deeply hurt, adding more scars to the ones he already has especially the ones that killed him an hundred years ago (according to Robbie they are visible), but he stands up to ganondorf like he stood in front of the guardians in the blatchery plain, because Link will fight till his last breath especially to protect Zelda, but Zelda falls and he literally drops his most precious weapon in hope to join and save her, and then zelda begs to save him? (the "lend him your power" thing) because Zelda would do everything to save him like she did in these fields an hundred years ago... These children would do anything for each other and the worst is that they will probably get separated again, and who knows what will happen to Zelda...
Also seeing hyrule which got the time to heal and thrive in the last hundred years, dear beloved hyrule in which Link spent so long adventuring in, in such a state of ruins and despair hurts.
Botw felt like hope, freshness and somehow innocence, a slow, almost kind and sweet rebirth after tragedy, the turning of a new page while still honoring the past, almost like moving on and healing while the scars are still there but slowly fading, not hiding them but rebuilding and growing around those scars... But now totk seems more like despair, and the inevitably of tragedy, of this endless cycle of suffering the three protagonists are stuck in, that they can do anything, fight throught countless lifetimes like the hero and princess before them, they can't escape fate, it will still catch them up and this curse won't break nor end, and even Zelda is not so sure that they will be able to stop ganondorf this time.... idk we still don't know much about the story but it's some things I've felt watching all these trailers even thought the adventures in the sky and all the past elements, with the ancients tunics etc seems more joyful...
Anyway I spiraled a lot as you can see, it's so long and I didn't make much sense like my broken English but I needed to talk about this, I'm so sorry haha... But my point is that Link and Zelda are literally two children all alone at the center of all these tragedies, burdened by their fates and the responsibility of saving hyrule and everyone, but they got each others and would do anything for one another and if they don't at least hug or hold hands in totk I would be sad.
Same anon as that long ask from before, I just realised but Link might have jump after her also because he didn't want her to be alone, he didn't want to be alone, he didn't want to be separated again, that at least this time they stay together whatever danger awaits them... this is giving big percabeth fall into the tartarus vibes and I'm still crying about zelink....
Don't worry, I understood you perfectly and agree with everything. I AM SO SAD!!! The first game is all about how even after apocalypse there is beauty, there is a second chance, Zelda is constantly telling you she believes in you and so is the world itself,,,, so seeing Hyrule all dark and empty and littered with unknown objects and hearing Zelda saying she doesn't think there's much chance this time FLOORED me. I mean yay, a sequel, but also MY EMOTIONS HURT. They were supposed to be safe!!!! She was supposed to feel good about her lack of power because for the first time it didn't matter if she had it!!!! HE WAS SUPPOSED TO WALK IN STEP WITH HER INSTEAD OF SEVERAL STEPS BACK BECAUSE THEY WERE NO LONGER THE PRINCESS AND HER KNIGHT!!!!!! He jumped after her.....................
#eernask#eernanon#eernask talk loz#it's always funny when people apologize for broken english like honey english is my third language i didnt notice any mistakes at ALL

Rambling about my made up Niall lore because I'm obsessed with him now and just wanna ramble!!
Putting it under the cut because it's super long 😅
I decided that Valentin (my m!Surana who had an unspoken romantic relationship going with him) and Niall simply cannot be alive in the same timeline…
Anyway, after Val dies during Uldred's whole situation (never even got to see Niall become an enchanter🥲 ) Niall takes the Isolationist thing very very seriously. No longer because he has a "foolish" dream that he might whisk Val away somewhere better but because it is no longer a suggestion but a demand.
He does not trust those that don't have magic, not even just templars. They are all one in the same. They judge, they isolate, and they kill. There will be no peace and safety for mages until they have built a fortified a place for just them. There is no understanding or bridging their differences at this point.
He was already a pessimistic and dour guy since the beginning of the mage origin and I HC that, despite being friendly, he wasn't the most approachable guy for that reason. I think he meshed well with Val's personality and unwillingness to lay down roots though and they just kinda clicked. To lose someone, especially someone who has fought so hard for freedom and to make a place for himself… I honestly think it just kinda broke him. I'm thinking Niall doesn't die during the circle tower quest, but he doesn't succeed either.
So he is just kinda like "I cannot help anyone, I can't save anyone, I can't escape this place, I can't do anything". I have absolutely no idea who the warden is in this case but maybe some words from them would help.
I am thinking that's the turning point where he sees exactly what it is that caused this to happen (in his opinion). Yes, Uldred was doing something fucked up, but it came because he (and magic) were repeatedly undermined and dismissed.
Yes, they were wrong (him wanting to ally with Loghain and all) but they were born of desperation.
And beyond that the actions of one man caused the templars, whose job it is to protect the circle and cut down abominations, left them all to die.
They would never know the horror that went on in there while they all ran and secluded themselves. Mages having to hide and turn to extremes to fend for themselves against demons (to which they are most susceptible) and other mages (to which they lack the power to stop, unlike templars who are trained to do that).
I don't consider him to be a very angry or impassioned person really, I can't really see it, at least not at this point.
But he survived when he had no right, reason, or desire to. He could at least do his part to try to do something in the aftermath of failure after failure on his part.
Of course like… sadly in the end this ultimately affects nothing (at least as far as he is concerned)😔Yet again he has failed to make a difference. BUT! I am thinking post-DA2 he's still kicking about and takes on some sort of a guide role for other apostates trying to survive during the war.
I need him to look back and feel like he has done absolutely nothing but fail the circle and everyone in it only to turn around and find that there are people who are looking to him for guidance. He survived impossible odds several times over, he has used his position as an enchanter to help and speak up for mages when he can, etc.
People saw that and people who are frightened and don't know what to do might see that still.
I have been working on fleshing out the group of isolationist mages he leads around and is basically the leader of (he is kinda like a pathetic but trustworthy mayor in my head, idk lol).
I am trying to give them a variety of backgrounds, lifestyles, and opinions (even opinions I don't agree with. Gotta have variety and conflicts and the like) and it's been fun so far!

My Gallavich Intro
Thanks for putting this together @callivich ! 😊 Name: Krystal
Age: 29
What made you fall in love with Gallavich?
I love how they continued to persevere and make their ways back to each other. Most people in their circumstance(s) would have given up on each other and the idea of ever being together and happy but they loved each other enough to never give up, despite the universe telling them that they should. They knew that they were each other's soulmates so they clawed their ways through the many (many) obstacles that came their way and fought to make it work. Now they're together, married and happy and that'll always make me happy. 🥹🥰
How long have you been a fan? Since May of 2023. Very newly obsessed.
Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? There's a lot of Gallavich moments that I absolutely love but I'll try to narrow it down to just 3, in no particular order:
In season 1 when Monica shows up for the first time. The first thing Ian did was run to the Milkovich house to see and talk to Mickey. Though Mickey was hesitant to talk to Ian at the moment (because Terry was there), Mickey showed that he cared about Ian by agreeing to meet Ian at the Kash and Grab to make sure he was okay. That moment, even though it is so early in the series, showed how much they cared for each other already. Mickey being the first person on Ian's mind in a moment of distress, and Mickey dropping everything to make sure Ian was alright is a moment that's so special to me. They were so young and had feelings for each other that neither of them probably couldn't really explain if they tried to at the time, but they both knew that there was something more there. Mickey also already knowing Ian's work schedule makes me smile like a giddy little idiot every time lol 🥰
The "sorry I'm late..." moment 🥹💞. Even though Mickey had his own shit to work though with Ian's diagnosis, him still showing up for Ian and letting him know that he wasn't going anywhere despite it all was so fucking sweet and I love it.
The prison reunion. Nothing says true love like getting yourself thrown into prison and giving up your freedom because you found out that the person you love is going to prison and you want to be with them, regardless of the circumstances.
Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey? Kev and Sheila
Do you write or draw or make edits? I don't - I'm not talented enough for that lol. I do enjoy seeing, reading and supporting everyone else's art and fics though!
Favourite type of Gallavich fics? I usually go for one shot post canon or canon compliant fics, usually full of fluff and/or smut, though I'm not opposed to multi-chapter ones. I love reading post-canon fics about married Ian and Mickey being understanding and taking care of each other as they both continue to work though their shit. Mickey always knowing what his husband needs and taking care of him, even when Ian doesn't ask him to, or Ian always reassuring his husband and letting him work though his own trauma always tugs at my heart strings 😭. I also don't mind reading fics that include the rest of the family. I want to eventually venture out to reading maybe some AU fics at some point though.
Favourite Gallavich quote? Idk if I can choose just one so here's my top 3 - again in no particular order:
Their vows 🥰. Everytime I think about their vows, I think of a headcanon that someone wrote on here (don't remember exactly who at the moment, sorry!) talking about how they each emphasized a different word in their vows and how accurate and on brand it was for them. I get the warm fuzzies everytime.
"Ian, what you and I have makes me free. Not what these assholes know."
"I can take care of him, okay? Let me take care of him til he's better... We're taking care of him here. You, me, us. His fucking family."
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself? I first started watching Shameless at the beginning of May of 2023 (after being told for years that I should watch it and continuously putting it off - kicking myself now) and as of mid July, I've watch it a total of 4 times. So when I post or reblog something saying that I'm obsessed, I truly mean obsessed. I have never loved or cared for individual characters or a couple from a TV series or movie as much as I do Ian Gallagher and Mickey Milkovich.
#finally posting this after filling it out multiple times and it never saving in my drafts 🙄#gallavichintro

fe3h misc thoughts
I associate dragon or some bird with Claude. Claude is the only one whose unique classes have wyverns, his route is called Verdant Wind and as explained by Marianne when she title drops the route, she explains that Claude is like the wind beneath a bird's wings lifting them up into the sky, and VW and GW heavily feature themes of freedom (choice, religion, ideas, borders, etc.). Through all this and more Claude is highly associated in the games with flight. Eagles are used in traditional hunting practices in the Eurasian Steppe and by Turkic peoples, from which Almyra draws inspiration from.
Garreg Mach is like a British finishing school, yeah the students are getting some education and leadership skills but its also about rubbing shoulders with the rich and powerful and making connections. It looks good a resume.
I romance no one personally, but I am collecting all S supports for the hell of it. I do not self insert into Byleth but also the S supports are blatant self insert bait instead of really engaging with Byleth as a character so I can't even say I like them from a character writing perspective.
ahhh yes the writers had to have Edelgard be emotionally dependent on the player character. gotta make the player feel important and involved...
I know Yuri is what most people want for an Ashen Wolves/Church gay romance option but I would have liked to see some diversity in the gay S support options because with Linhardt and Yuri we have 2 pretty boys which is better than 1 I guess but I would have liked to see the addition of character a little different so I'll vote Balthus. Also idk about anyone else but the gay men I've met love beef more than anyone else.
I found a gay gilbert stan wow it's like seeing a rare endangered species
my first thought when I saw Areadbhar was "that looks like a whale's fore fin's bones". Each relic was from a different dragon, that's why they all have different crests. The crest associated with Luin is the crest of Daphnel, so Daphnel got the blood of that dragon and a weapon made of their body. As for what body part, who knows, could have been a fang or a spine or carved out of a large bone.
Why Seteth and Flan look unchanged after 1000 years. If we interpret Rhea calling herself the "last" of Sothis' children as in youngest then she's younger then Seteth, but last could also mean last survivor of Nabatea. Nabateans, well dragons actually in Fire Emblem are a sort of immortal often worshiped as divine existence so they just stop aging at some point. Flayn specifically went into the regenerative sleep unique to dragons that Byleth does during the timeskip so you can think of the pause button being pressed for her life and then unpaused when she woke up recently. Also I think Flayn is just short, cheerful, and ignorant of modern society she's not actually all that young developmentally I think she was telling the truth when she says she's roughly the same age as the other students 16-20. Meta reason is they didn't want to make more character designs and models probably.
I don't really know if Indech ever met Cethlean before the events of the game. We do know that Cethleann fell into a long sleep from overusing her powers, we also don't know when she entered the War, so it is possible she and Indech were active at different periods. Given how reluctant Cihol would have been for her to fight I think it is more likely Cethleann fought in the later part of the war. Indech and Macuil both got fed up with humans eventually so it makes sense if he withdrew early. But all this is a lot of speculation on my part.
Yeah they're still Slithering in Azure Moon lol. Dimitri unknowingly kills Thales which I find hilarious but the Agarthan civilization and Shambhala is still intact and Nemesis and the zombie army is still in cryostasis. It has been debated how important Thales was like I've heard theorizing that he was the only one who could activate the intercontinental ballistic missile system but in the end we don't have a definitive answer about how important he was to Agarthan operations.
Raphael really is quite insightful! Has high emotional intelligence too and one of the healthiest grief responses in the game, offers some pretty good advice too like listen to your body, take things one step at a time, and take care of yourself.
in the original text Lysithea says Leonie would make a good husband.
Don't forget the month where everyone is very somber due to certain events and Lindhardt is like "yo what up I robbed the church"
rizzed up ignatz
The Ignatz quotes… yeah Ignatz has more change than most characters but a lot of people miss it because he isn't a very popular character and gameplay wise he's one of the few characters that gets better on maddening so most people don't use him on the easier difficulties. I find it very interesting that part of Ignatz changes and part of him doesn't its like you said the war hardens him but he keeps his love of the world and I like that about him. This is different than say Marianne where like everything about her changes (especially in VW) as she gets a new perspective on life.
I agree its sad that Caspar's English voice performance doesn't fit his character all that well, or at least not as well as his Japanese one does. Caspar is basically a shounen anime/videogame protagonist and he should sound like one and he does in Japanese but not in English. I love Caspar as a character I just don't like his English voice. The English voices are generally pretty good but there's a couple performances that make he cringe namely Caspar's and Mercedes'. Which is such a shame because their Japanese voices are perfect. In Japanese Caspar sounds like the stupid energetic jock shounen protag that he is, and Mercedes sounds very fuwafuwa exactly like a gently older sister type character which fits her so well. Her English voice sounds so forced.
So due to the open nature of the game there mostly isn't strictly a definitive canon class, just the most probably canonical/intended class. This is easiest to tell for the lords and Byleth as they get unique classes. For the other character look at what class they appear as as enemies although this isn't definitive either. For example Lorenz appears as an enemy paladin but given how his relic extends magic range and one of his best builds is in magic as well as his houses' history in magic and magic knights you could argue that his canonical class is dark knight not paladin. In the end there isn't really a definitive canon class just more canonical and less canonical classes like no one is arguing that war master is Lorenz's canon class. Or Manuela as an enemy appears as different classes on different maps. Another line of evidence is that unique outfits in part 2 for the students can be worn for certain classes that can be seen as their intended classes.
I will never be over how the game won't let me make Hilda a warmaster (or Linhardt a gremory).
With Almyra someone mentioned Turkic but I think it is more broadly central Asian influences with the horse culture and some of the imagery bringing to mind the Mongol Empire, combined with broadly Middle Eastern especially Persian. Faerghus might be Russian in climate but its more medieval Germanic with the warrior culture. I agree with aplumblum that Leicester reminds me most of the Italian Renaissance with it's focus on art and commerce, but with some Dutch and English influence as well, especially in the names. Morfis comes off as stereotypically Arabian/vaguely middle eastern as in magical desert city with the mystique of the height of the Arab empire highly associated with exotic magic, as seen from a European perspective. Brigid is almost entirely based on Southeast Asia (maybe with a bit of Oceania) as seen through the eyes of a Japanese developer. Dagda came off to me as Asian/East Asian as a very large and diverse continent that Fodlan is mostly just confused by and has conflicting accounts of. Plains? Deserts? Jungles? Tundra? Well if it's a continent then it'd be big enough for all of that. Dagda is also big and advanced enough to colonize Brigid and engage is a protracted long distance naval war. Also like how else did Fodlan get samurai???
Fodlan is already fantasy soup chronological hell, don't get too caught up on being historically accurate because the devs sure as hell don't care. Like in Faerghus you have the germanic warrior culture of the 1000s epics, you have chivalry codes of the 1300, Leicester almost looks Italian Renaissance which is like 1500, but there's also themes of the Enlightenment period and hints Fodlan is on the verge of the French Revolution so 1700-1800s. Tomatoes are from Mexico and peaches are from China and Fodlan has a bunch of made up fantasy fruits and vegetables. But yeah maybe the potato would fix Faerghus.
It's pretty obvious the Agarthans are evil I'd even say it goes too far with it, but a lot of people in the fandom tend to downplay either Rhea or Edelgard's agency when in reality they both have agendas that they are unwilling to negotiate on and that's where a lot of the overarching conflict in the story comes from.
The crest of Timotheos is associated with animals and perhaps had some power over them. Cornelia or the Agarthan that crawled into her skin probably experimented with the crest's power, trying to enhance and weaponize it and made it go haywire. The end result of twisting that latent power being Hapi's sighs summoning demonic beasts.
Me first playthough due to JRPG hoarding tendencies I didn't use the relics. Heros' relics are very easy to repair as umbral steel is very common so go ahead and use them at every opportunity, holy weapon materials are rarer but still worth using.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses has really weird gameplay for a Fire Emblem game and I happen to like the gameplay changes more than regular Fire Emblem gameplay. In most FE game level is class level and stats are what really matters but i find the 1-99 system more intuitive because no progress is ever lost, I also think the open sandbox-y nature complements the multiple routes and replay-ability.
Who cares about gameplay or "the meta" or damage when you have FASHION.
Edelgard gets some of the best designs in the game. I also like male Byleth, Dorothea, Petra, and Claude. The others are more situational Ignatz' part 2, Yuri's part 1 (the clown suit is a curse), Marianne's 3 Hopes, and Sylvain's part 1.
Wish we could toggle the little hats. The female warlock flower hat is cute. Or mortal savant kinda sucks but the mask looks really cool. Or dark knight's ram helmet.
My favorite classes: Falcon knight gives a little horned helmet to the horse, Bow knight because I love hit and run tactics, Dark knight because I like the magic knight concept, Mortal savant because it looks cool, Barbarossa because dragon (also a good class but most dragon and cool outfit). Brigand because what would I do without death blow
I have this pet conspiracy theory that Sothis is from the divine dragon tribe of other FE games (Shadow dragon, gaiden, Awakening, etc). I mean in Fates/IF characters literally get isekai'd and I think it happens in Awakening dlc too so dimension/world travel is an established part of the universe, it's very plausible Sothis is from Archanea.
Why Mercedes's mother ended up in House Bartels if she was the one with a crest. Hard to say, Adrestian House politics are brutal, Nuvelle got wiped as did Hyrm because of the inter-House powerplays. She might have been a commoner with a crest it does happen or someone of a lower class married in so Martriz had a crest. However keep in mind that with the fall of House Martriz she would have lost all power, status, and standing, she also could have been pressured by the remainder of House Martriz. In the end we don't know. Nobles certainly do scout for crest bearing commoners, Mercedes was pressured and harassed into such a marriage with the marriage leveraged by a donation to the church her family had lived in for many years.

Celebrating the deaths of Jewish individuals is antisemitic and just not okay.
Celebrating the deaths of Palestinians is islamophobic and antimuslim and not okay either.
I don't see how there was equivocating in Vikings second reblog necessarily. Like, I don't like the government of Israel, I don't like the propaganda that dehumanises Palestinians but that doesn't make attacks on Israel acceptable.
.
And just for people's awareness, I am a kid whose family history is that of the IRA. Freedom fighters and terrorists in one. On one side, individuals who fought against British oppression, and on the other individuals who made bombs and put them in hotels and on streets to kill people. And these are the same people seen from different sides of the ideological divide.
.
A terrorist acts to inspire terror. They do it for a purpose, whether political, ideological, or personal, but they want fear to be created with their actions.
The attack on Israel was an act of terror.
That cannot and should not be ignored, or dismissed, or the severity of it pontificated about.
The response by Israel, by its government (not its regular people) is overwhelming force and idk if anyone knows about the British response to the IRA prior to The Troubles and during but... Well I see a lot of similarities.
The key difference here is that unlike with the IRA and The Troubles etc, the history between Israel and Palestine is forever poisoned by antisemitism and varying degrees of racism.
I personally do not think what Israel is doing is right. I personally think it is wrong and the lack of clear stating that the reaction is disproportionate by other governments around the world is... Concerning.
But I also know that the British response to some of the IRAs acts of terror were... Very disproportionate.
I fear that the people who will suffer the most for this are the Palestinians who just want to keep their homes and the Jews around the world who are universally blamed for the actions of one government that just so happens to be entirely Jewish.
.
I have fallen into logical fallacies and traps within the leftist sphere where I've had an antisemitic thought and it's perhaps only because I'm a stubborn bastard with personal history tied to terrorism and freedom fighting and the messiness inherent in such that I didn't keep falling into those fallacies.
Even now, I worry I fall into them far too often and have to claw my way back out.
Please, if nothing else is taken from this post, consider this:
Viking is right about leftist circles.
The antisemitism is often wrapped different but it is there. The far right and far left are simply inches away from connecting in a political circle of ideological perspective.
Viking is right that there are degrees of antisemitism.
There is a lot of anti-british sentiment which is absolutely founded on a real basis of exploitation, discrimination, racism, and historical wrongdoing by the British Empire. To look at British individuals and Brits and say "you are a bunch of entitled bastards and I hate British people for your past" is... Well, it's not nice to hear but it is understandable. There is a lot the British Empire and Britain has done that is unequivocally wrong. A lot.
Israel is not the British Empire. There is not generations of wrongs committed by Israel in the way there is for Britain. For America. For France. Germany. Spain. For countries with White European Histories who went out and conquered and oppressed and stole and murdered those they came across in their 'exploration' of the world.
But the hatred I see of Israel is often so much more visceral that the disdain Britain gets and it's... Honestly mind boggling if you don't see the history and realise the reason for that hatred.
It's religious and racial hatred predicated on Othering and reducing a people to Lesser Than Me mentality.
.
Do you know that at one point the IRA had a heck of a lot of power in southern Ireland in that they basically had a government? Or in a similar manner to Hamas, they controlled regions and kept the British out? You can look it up online, it's honestly interesting to read.
But right now, Sinn Fein is the legitimate part of the IRA. They are the political face of an organisation that planted bombs in streets and hotels, that spied on its own people, that planned murders, and kidnapped and ransomed and made deals with other terror organisations. That is a fact. It is historical record.
Hamas are in the process of becoming like Sinn Fein. Except their 'enemy' is not like the enemy the IRA faced. Because, ironically enough, Britain was willing to settle for power sharing. Well... It wasn't willing but it recognised that it was more practical.
The government of Israel is... Not willing to do that. Because it's ultimately a far right government. That has spat out propaganda for years and years and has made it so the people of Palestine aren't... Aren't people.
Hamas is a terror organisation. To some in Palestine, they're freedom fighters. To some in the Arab world and beyond, they're freedom fighters.
But a bomb is still a bomb and no matter the reason its used, if it kills civilians on the street, then the one who made and used the bomb is a terrorist in my book.
.
The problem with responding to integrated terrorist organisations which are entrenched in a civilian community in the way Israel has, in the way Britain did in Ireland, is the people who don't deserve to suffer end up hurting the most and you drive those who may have supported peace into the arms of extremism.
The blame for the conflict between Israel and Palestine I will always, always, lay at the feet of my government. I will lay it on the hands of antisemites in Europe post world war two. I will lay it on the hands of those who have chosen to promote discrimination, who have encouraged dehumanisation, who have ignored the generational trauma that Israeli Jews have in their very DNA and then went and decided to promote their own plans over ensuring people didn't suffer from the fallout.
I blame the Israeli government.
I blame Hamas.
But I grieve for the Israeli people. I grieve for the Palestinian people.
Because I know who the real losers are in this situation. It's never the ones in power. It is always the people who have none and are swept along by the waves of extremism and hatred that suffer the most.
.
Over eleven thousand Palestinians have died since October 7th.
Over one thousand two hundred Israelis have died since October 7th.
During The Troubles the number of casualties for both sides combined didn't reach over two thousand. In thirty years. When you add the civilian casualties, that number hits over three thousand five hundred.
Between Israel and Palestine in a month, there has been more than triple the total number of casualties from 30 years of conflict between the IRA and Britain.
The War On Terror post 9/11 has seen nearly half a million civilian casualties in Afghanistan from the response of America and Britain. An invasion to 'root out terror' that is truly disproportionate in response but forever 'justified' by the narrative. The 7/7 bombing in London. The Manchester Arena bombing. And so much more. Acts of terror used to justify overwhelming force in response.
And none of it is right.
But the narrative is written by the ones with the most power, the most influence, the most skill at manipulating the perspective. What happened with the War On Terror post 9/11 is happening again and it is being justified by the narrative of another Arab terrorist group and by the support the Israeli government has from Britain and America.
And I hate it. I hate that people are dying and starving and suffering and being used and manipulated for politics and ideological reasons when I know that once this whole Israel-Palestine conflict is over... The narrative will shift to target Israel. Because that's how this game works.
.
I grieve what is happening. I weep for it.
The Palestinian people deserve kindness. They deserve help. They deserve the chance to not be oppressed and controlled by Hamas and slowly annihilated by the Israeli government.
The Israel people deserve kindness. They deserve help. They deserve the chance not to be controlled and fed propoganda that makes them stop seeing Palestinians as people first.
I am bleeding in my heart because I see history repeating itself again and again in different shades of horror and I see the hands of western governments encouraging this horror.
Because, I can guarantee this. One day, should Palestine be completely destroyed and Hamas wiped out, the narrative around Israel will shift from a nation protecting itself from terrorism to a nation committing genocide and ignoring all humanitarian and UN conventions. And then the narrative will place America and Britain at the forefront of the opposition to Israel who will justify their 'intervention' in Israel as for the "sake of the Israeli people and to prevent Israel from committing further human rights abuses". The narrative will paint Israel as reacting disproportionately to what occurred and the narrative will focus on making western countries having tried to be the 'voice of reason that was ignored until it was too late'.
And then when the Israeli government naturally rejects oversight and being controlled by Britain and America, they will be invaded and oppressed and the Christianity based hatred of Judaism that has always lain at the heart of America and Britain and European countries will have the opportunity to wipe out its 'enemy' for a justifiable reason.
And what Hitler and countless other bastards and countries and governments began will be finished.
Because that's what history is screaming at everyone to realise right now. But the narrative is being ignored to shout about other things that are more attention grabbing than a long con.
.
I hate Hamas.
I hate the Israeli government.
I hate my own government.
I hate the American government.
I hate the narrative being spun now.
I hate that people who just want to live and be happy are the ones who are suffering the most and the world is painting a story through the media that tries to make it understandable.
Because if it's 'understandable' for Israel to do what it is to Palestine right now... Then years from now it'll be 'understandable' when the same happens to Israel too.
But, no matter what. No. Matter. What.
Antisemitism isn't okay.
It's not justified.
It's not right.
Just like antimuslim sentiments aren't okay.
They're not justified.
They're not okay.
Hatred is never okay.
.
Viking is right that the leftist circle has many degrees of antisemitism.
Viking is right that a lot of that antisemitism has flared up since 7th October.
Viking is right that there's no justification for it.
.
And there's no justification for everything that is happening to Palestine and the Palestinian people nor what will eventually happen to the Israeli people because of what has happened and is happening now.
.
I want there to be peace between Israel and Palestine. I want Israelis and Palestinians to just live their lives and be happy and coexist.
But I don't think that is going to happen. Because America and Britain don't want that. Because the Israeli government doesn't want that.
And I truly fear what is going to happen in the future. Because I'm usually right about this stuff but right now, I desperately hope I'm wrong.
.
Sorry, I rambled a lot here.
In my own experience as a Jewish Leftist, and corroborated by the similar experiences of other Jewish Leftists, there are, roughly speaking, five to six broad categories of Leftists in their attitudes towards Jews. This is a tangential categorization in terms of precise political affiliation; in other words, one’s position in these categories is not dependent on what precise type of Leftist/Progressive an individual is.
Type 1: Open And Unapologetic Jew Haters
These Leftists hate Jews and don’t try to hide it at all. According to them, Jews are the Problem, and they know what type of Solution they want enacted.
The archetypal example that I’ll currently use is Cynthia McKinney, former US Congresswoman and US Green Party presidential candidate, who, well…
But this is also the class of Leftists who say that there is no room for Judaism in their ideal, imagined perfect world, that they picture everyone assimilating and giving up their ethnic and cultural identities to just be “human”, and often single out Judaism as a particular problem in that regard.
Type 2: Closeted Knowing Jew Haters
These Leftists hate Jews, know that they hate Jews, but know that it’s bad optics to openly praise Hitler or cozy up to the KKK to satisfy their hatred of Jews, so they try to find the barest veneer of plausible deniability to hide behind. “Anti-zionism” is a particular favorite on the Left, but the hatred has a way of slipping past the mask when they get questioned.
A classic example here is the Boston Mapping Project, who literally made up a list of every Jewish institution in Boston, Mass, on suspicion of them being “Zionist–including elder homes, Jewish high schools, and Kindergartens, and including scary “links” on the map to various government agencies, no matter how tenuous or outright imaginary, thereby invoking old conspiracy tropes about “Secret Jewish Control of the Government”. (And BDS, as the parent organization, also gave the lie that they’re just antizionist, not antisemitic, when they disavowed the Mapping Project for bad optics, not the rank antisemitism and conspiratorial thinking they were promoting). Another example would be the organizers of the Chicago Dyke March, who explicitly expelled Jews from the March and crowed about “zio tears” (which is a slur originally used by the KKK, no less).
However on first encounter, Type 2 are indistinguishable from and camouflaged by…
Type 3: Undereducated And Unknowing Traffickers In Antisemitism
These Leftists don’t hate Jews per se… they’re just unaware of the deep antisemitic history of repeating claims that “Jews have too much power”, or stating that the Holocaust was “White on White violence”, or that “Jews are just White People from Europe”, or any of a host of other antisemitic beliefs that are endemic on the Left. They’re initially indistinguishable from Type 2, as they say the same things, and can only be told apart by their reactions; a Type 3 will go, “Oh, I didn’t know and I’ll try to learn!”, while a Type 2 will typically double down, or let the mask slip in some other way.
The problem is that, from the perspective of Jews, Type 2 and Type 3 are indistinguishable from each other at first glance, and rather than try to engage and risk the emotional harm, a lot of Jews tend to write off all of them as Type 2, and there’s a lot of debate on the ratios between the two.
Also worthy of mention, as a midpoint between Type 2 and Type 3 are:
Type 2.5: Openly Antisemitic “I’m Not An Antisemite, I Just Refuse To Learn, Listen, Or Let Jews Define Antisemitism”
As a midpoint between types, these Leftists openly traffic in antisemitic motifs, conspiracies, and attitudes, all the while insisting that they’re not antisemitic. They’re a midpoint between types 2 and 3 because they’ve had plenty of time and opportunity to learn about the bigoted attitudes they’re espousing, but refuse to do so… but at the same time, they genuinely seem to think that they’re not antisemitic. They just think that there’s a vast Jewish conspiracy out to get them personally, or any of a number of other antisemitic beliefs, and refuse to accept or learn that what they’re saying is antisemitic. They can believe that they themselves are not all they want, saying that Jews have too much money and power and run the world’s politics is still trafficking in antisemitic conspiracy theories.
The archetypal example of this type, assuming we can take his word for it, is Roger Waters. Waters is openly and explicitly antisemitic, saying that there is a widespread conspiracy of Jews running the world’s politics… but he has been insisting for over 40 years that he’s just “antizionist, not antisemitic.”
youtube
But these are just the outspoken ones. None of them would get anywhere without the tacit support of…
Type 4: The Silent Majority
These Leftists are, being blunt, hypocritical cowards. They don’t want to get involved in issues on antisemitism. When a Leftist Jew is being harassed by one of Types 1 to 3, they don’t speak up, they don’t get involved, they just say nothing.
Maybe they agree with one of the above types. Maybe they just don’t want to get involved. Maybe they’re afraid of seeming sympathetic to Israel. Maybe they’re afraid of getting the social backlash that the Jew is experiencing. But ultimately, their motivations don’t matter, their actions do—and their actions give tacit social support to the antisemite in the Leftist group, not to the Jew being harassed and chased out.
And the reason they’re hypocritical cowards?
Well, if your ideology claims that you want a better life for everyone and social progress and being against racism and bigotry… but yet they don’t speak up when it’s happening right in front of them…
Well.
That says a lot, doesn’t it? Both on what their ideals actually mean to them… and how highly they value Jews. And we know that it is possible, because of…
Type 5: The Pro-Jewish Leftist
These Leftists are, in my experience, a minority outside of Leftist Jews, but they do exist among non-Jewish Leftists. They stand up to Types 1, 2, and 3 when they express antisemitic views, and try to shame and cajole Type 4 into standing up as well.
And, just to point out how normalized antisemitism is on the Left…
Some people in this category might object to being labeled as “Pro-Jewish”, as if they’re biased for Jews. But I have to ask… do you think that they would also object to being labeled “Pro-LGBTQ”?
#antisemitism#Israel Palestine conflict#Hamas is a terror organisation#The Israeli government suck#Kat talks#Im so scared I'm right about where this is going to lead ya know#I've been scarily right about a lot of stuff like this and I'm really hoping#That I'm wrong#I'm hoping the conflict dies down#That Israel stops trying to kill every Palestinian#That Hamas disbands#That Israel and Palestine can just coexist like Northern Ireland and the Republic do#It's not perfect but#Gods all#These people deserve peace gfdi

Highlights and thoughts on ch364
1. Ujiko is confirmed as an AFO simp(the fact that the literal next page is a naked AFO does not help matters AT ALL)
2. AFO/Ujiko is finally confirmed canon
3. That comment to not let hatred dwell in your heart really comes in context with AFO currently possessing Shigaraki, the guy he groomed to be filled with hatred and especially given the previous chapters when he grew pissed off when he saw the resemblance of Bakugou with the Second User(yes the one that landed the hit was AFO and not Shigaraki, as AFO lived back in the Dawn of Quirks and had interactions with him, thus the glitchy flashback. Plus Shigaraki’s last contact with Bakugou when he wasn’t possessed, he wasn’t even angry at him at all, he just said he wasn’t interested in him anymore and moved on)(idk there may be some foreshadowing there with ShigarAFO)
4. AFO is in fact buff(i remember sb made a post about it somewhere)
5. I still am angry that he didn’t fight or remained naked at all. Coward.
6. Also it is still funny that he did steal the clothes of the other heroes and we finally see him being overdramatic. At least he is having fun.
7. Awesome dialogue between AFO and Hawks:
Hawks:‘’Villains do bad things.’’
AFO:’‘Define bad things.’‘
8. Instance #4546306 in which society has called or referred Tomura as a monster🙄 and confusing AFO with Tomura🙄🙄.
9. I find it very funny that the US president actually thought of going pro AFO.
10. People that go out and say that Tomura would go all scorched earth against the USA are so weak. The one that wants to lord over everybody is AFO, not Tomura. Dude’s never cared about ruling over anybody, wanted his friends to live as they saw fit and when he fought S&S, his first thought when learning about her reality-bending quirk wasn’t about world domination or destroying the world but to see if it can bring his dead dog back to life. Man has his priorities straight. If anything, he would be a far better president than most we had in recent history. I would definitely support him.
Pictured below:
Developed countries scrambling to gain Tomura’s trust so that he won’t crush them:
What everyone expects Tomura to be and act towards them:
What will actually happen as Tomura allows every citizen all the freedoms they want, thus most citizens actually start to like him and want him to lead them, with Tomura not being interested in that at all:
Anyways #TomuraforPresident
11. I just want to say that i really liked Star’s soft face here.
12. I am kinda sus about the US being involved in the plot as of yet. Given their last attempt at solving the issues with Japan was to breach international orders, go for the lethal option (as if this hasn’t been happening against Tomura ever since the war arc and not working AT ALL) and have no issue at launching intercontinental missiles at Tomura, plus the general depiction of them in fiction as those that use excessive force to solve all problems... Yeah idk. I am probably just overthinking this and most likely will not happen. At best they are here to see how Japan will win against the villains by saving them and then they will try to implement that to their own countries. Also i just think that Star’s pilots have intercepted Izuku and are bringing him to the mainland and will meet with AFO and have a talk and/or fight.
13. Love how pretty both Mirko and Shigaraki(or rather ShigarAFO) look.
14. I kinda liked that Best Jeanist and Edgeshot were part of the art and crafts club at school, which did complement a lot with their Quirks.
15. Fun fact that i saw from someone in a comment section is that Bakugo’s and Edgeshot’s blood type are A and Best Jeanist’s is AB (I also checked it on MHA Wiki so it is correct).
#my post#bnha#bnha spoilers#bnha 364#i will note that i made this in a joking manner at least a part of it#plus i may have made some mistakes in characterisatons of the characters there#but nothing big

Thoughts on “Auntie Soka and Little Leia” now that I’ve actually got it posted:
Call it a director’s cut! The process of actually writing the thing, and also jokes made along the way. Link to the actual fic.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the energy for image descriptions, even the text screenshots. Might come back that later. Most of this was DMs with @atagotiak.
This was an entire thing before I even started writing:
Before I decided on ages and stuff Ahsoka, to Jango, who has had zero contact with Kaminoans: Okay I know I'm a Jedi kid so you hate me but this toddler is your clone from the future. Jango, tired: What the FUCK are you talking about. Rex, barely able to talk: Don't you dare leave me with him, Commander! Ahsoka: I'm not going to leave you I just--I'm so tired I'm so fucking tired I haven't slept in five days and someone tried to kidnap Leia two days ago I am so fucking tired I need help
Ben: [twenty years of depression followed by a 'now I'm safe' breakdown over the course of weeks] Sokari: [whatever the FUCK this mess is]
When Ahsoka mentions there only being three other Jedi at the time of her death, I was thinking Kanan, Yoda, and Obi-Wan (Leia told her about the latter two living past her). She's not counting anyone that received training after the Temple fell, and she didn’t know about Cal.
When Leia says “I was adopted and raised by one of the founders of the rebellion, a movement built on the desire to instate freedom and democracy in a galaxy that had lost even the pretense.”
Depa: I'm no therapist but I diagnose you with "incredibly fucked up." Ahsoka: yeah, that’s fair
"Why did you pick Depa for--" She's pretty and I'm gay. Also because of the Kanan thing But mostly I'm gay "It's not a visual medi--" GAY
Empty of context beyond general post-fic AU: "Hey Sokari, we need to engage in psychological warfare against this individual and--" "I'm going to break into his office and leave a threatening note on his desk and leave no other sign that I was there. He'll see that his security is nothing and the only reason he isn't dead is because I'm too nice to kill him." "...okay, not what we were planning, but that works. Why is that your first choice?" "I really like breaking and entering, it's soothing." Ben just standing there with a bland smile like This Is Normal.
"We need someone to infiltrate a highly guarded facility in hostile territory." "So we're sending the Torrent kids?" [sigh] "We're sending the Torrent kids."
Rex and Sokari insist on both going by "Torrent" even though Rex could be a Fett. Jango really wants him to be a Fett. Rex has too many grudges to agree to being a Fett for... a while.
I really hope it's blatantly obvious that Ahsoka's not a reliable narrator for some things Ahsoka: Fett could care less if I died Jango: jfc even if you are older than me I can see you're fucked up. Drink your hot chocolate. Hells. She's got good reason to expect him to hate her as a Jedi! BUT. THAT IS NOT REFLECTIVE OF REALITY
We don’t get a lot of actual characterization for Jango, but the way I played him out here is he has never really parsed that Jedi are people before all this. It's a lot harder to treat them as a monolith when the traumatized former child soldier is having regular breakdowns in your shitty little kitchen
Fett: I respect you Ahsoka: No, don't do that
Ahsoka’s vigilantism is something that, in my mind, she's associating heavily with Zygerria and then the clones.
I figured that she never bothered to learn Quinlan’s teacher’s name but in the process of looking up some basic facts (whether he had a surname), I found that Wookiepedia was forced to give us a VERY wide range of possible death in Legends.
Please take a moment to imagine Quinlan's FACE when Ahsoka initially dismisses him. Quinlan has put a lot of effort into being rogueishly charming! It's very useful for his line of work! He knows to expect either irritation or a return flirtation when he acts like this with people his own age! Ahsoka is not flustered OR rolling her eyes and insulting him, she's just ignoring him and it's a bit of a blow to the ego
This just makes me really happy:
This was the initial comment I made, as a joke What if Maul is just. There. On one of the planets they make a pitstop at. What if Maul exists as the walking problem he is, but fifteen, and Ahsoka immediately tries to kick his ass and drag him back to Coruscant. I do not have room for this plot but What If
Despite not having room for this plot, I proceeded to write this plot.
Maul is kidnapped and it’s the best thing that ever happened to him HE'S FIFTEEN HE'S DUMB AS SHIT AND HAS A BAD ATTITUDE AND YEAH HE'S A DARKSIDER BUT HE'S FIFTEEN
Ahsoka: I sense... Maul [takes off sprinting] Rex: [immediately takes Jango's blaster and runs after her] Jango: Wait who Tholme: Who Quinlan: Who Jango: [looks at Leia] Leia: I don't know who that is either! Ahsoka, already wrestling a teenager to the ground: Oh no, you're a child, REX STUN HIM AND GRAB THE CUFFS, I'M SURE FETT OR THOLME HAS SOME
Fighting him isn't even legal, they have NO evidence of criminal wrongdoing, so first she needs to yell until he admits to something she can fight him about
Ahsoka: When I see Maul, it's on SIGHT Maul: WHO ARE YOU
Ahsoka: The Force didn't give me hands just to NOT throw them when I run into That Crafty Son Of A Bitch
Ben, when they arrive, after the tearful reunion: You... you brought Maul. Ahsoka: Well, yeah, he's fifteen and kinda dumb. I figured we could drag him here and force him into therapy, see what happens. Ben: I can't quite tell through the gag, but I think he's threatening to feed you your own spleen. Ahsoka: Lol, yeah.
Ben is absolutely on team "get Maul therapy" and will fight the Council on rehabilitating the baby Sith But also it's like. Here's your daughter! And your niece! And your daughter's QPP! Also your best friend, but baby, and his teacher, and the biological origin of a number of people you cared for deeply! AND ALSO THE GUY WHO SPENT LITERAL DECADES CRAVING YOUR DEATH, FOR SOME REASON
I just really want Ahsoka lovingly bullying Maul She gives him noogies and the horns don't protect him because girl has reinforced gloves
Maul's only allowed a low-power training saber and his fights with Sokari involve Much Taunting by her and Eventual Screaming by him, and everyone pops by to see: 1. Sokari doing the most absurd flips, for fun. 2. The bullshit that is ataru-shien reverse-grip jar'kai in the hands of someone who makes it work 3. What a Sith lightsaber form looks like 4. Just the general nonsense that is the way these two fight
Tia said “Wrt ridiculous flips. I'm remembering that time she beheaded four Kryst'ad at once.” and I just Rex brings up the quadruple beheading at one point to get someone to stop asking questions and the awkward, horrified silence almost makes him regret it. And then Sokari just snorts and makes a joke about how Rex once speared a slaver point-blank and everyone's just like hello??? "are you two okay" "no"
Maul absolutely starts crushing on Sokari after a 'sword under chin' moment and she's just very "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you're fifteen, bye" GO MAKE PUPPY EYES AT OBI-WAN OR SOMETHING
The crushes are the worst part of everything, really, she's an attractive young woman that can kick a lot of ass, and a lot of people are into that! Unfortunately, most of those people are a decade younger than she is, mentally, because all the people her actual age look at her and see a child on account of the 17yo body.
It’s almost a good thing she’s in no place mentally for a relationship.
I just want Ahsoka to wear beskar.... I think that would be Nice........
This AU is also what caused this post.
I'm deeply enamored by the idea that Ahsoka can win fights against "older" padawans pretty much unilaterally, even when they team up 2v1 And then she offers to fight 5v1 "But only if I have permission to fight dirty." Ben approves it, a horror show full of "I fought many wars and will scream in your face or kick you in the balls if that's what it takes" follows She wins. There are no permanent injuries, but her reputation certainly gets weirder. Nobody under the rank of Knight agrees to let her fight dirty again. She just lets that stand because, well, she's not actually a padawan, she's thirty-three.
I’m not going to write this but my brain was EVIL and suggested it:
IT WOULD BE REALLY SAD IDK maybe 9yo Anakin has nightmares about what's happening to baby Ahsoka because bullshit about time-traveling force bonds IDK ANYWAY he cries to Sokari about the nightmares and she's like "oh shit" and it's time to go rescue herself from motherfucker unlimited
It's either that or she's like, expecting to welcome mini-me aaaany day now, for like, several months, before she realizes Something Went Wrong. Anakin’s dreams could even start right as she’s starting to realize something’s off.
Obi-Wan has never had a padawan that doesn't at some point bite Even Luke will, when pushed
OH also once the twins get Baby's First Lightsaber (training sabers, not real kyber), Sokari begs to borrow them for a dumb joke and tells Rex to get on her shoulders for a "Grievous Greeting" and they do The Thing
Jango and Ahsoka wrt Quinlan is just “Do I need to beat him up for you” “You realize I’ve beaten up sith lords before?”
JANGO'S TRYING He's just. "Can we be friends? Can I--can I be the guy that just noticeably gets in the way of a creep on the subway so you can be more comfortable without someone making a scene? I'm fucking trying here, give me a hint."
We didn’t actually figure out Jango’s age until this point. The only reason Fett's age matters is for Quinlan making a Wild Oats quip after Jango says he didn't know about Rex until a few weeks ago, and Fett going "How old do you think I am? And how old do you think the kid is?" and Quinlan getting Very Awkward as he does the math. Rex overhears and lets Quinlan sweat for a bit before saying "I'm a genetically-modified clone someone grew in a tube, he didn't know or have reason to know until he saw me with Sokari." Which is like. Eight additional layers of WTF, obviously, but at least Jango gets to avoid awkward wild oats jokes
Like, you’d expect the rebuttal to be ‘he’s my brother just with a biiig age gap’ or ‘he’s my nephew’
I find it very unfortunate for Quinlan that I've decided his defining characteristic in this context is going to be repeatedly putting his foot in his mouth
He’s trying so hard but "That sounds like a cool thing, maybe I'll ask ab--and it's another fucking trauma."
I'm doing Ahsoka&Jango t w i c e (there’s another fic where I’m doing it)
It’s just a fun dynamic! So much resentful respect.
Like she's twenty seconds away from calling him a bitch at any given time and he's just there like "I don't like you but I do see you move like you're about to tell an entire building to get on their knees with their hands in the air and I can respect that" Also she's probably much less judgmental about using blasters than Obi-Wan is The Maul subplot actually started with me daydreaming about Ahsoka grabbing a blaster for Reasons
I like the idea of Jango just deciding the most Useful thing he can do is help teach the Smol how to fight. He's AWKWARD around Rex and Soka because he doesn't know if there's anything he CAN teach them.
I didn’t actually plan for Tholme to figure out the age thing, he just SAID it and I had to sit there like Wait.
Ahsoka, Rex & Leia: ahhh, children Tholme: you say that like you aren’t children
I liked getting to write Rex's little "I have worked with all of them, and they're all Terrible" He loves them But They once got stranded on a planet that didn’t exist and Ahsoka died and Anakin killed a god.
There was research and discussion as to whether Ahsoka could win against Tholme but seeing as she held her own against Vader, and fought Grievous at that physical age without dying, etc.... yeah, the only thing holding her back was her body not being what she was used to, and she’s had a few weeks go adjust.
“I miss being able to just jump off skyscrapers” is such a jedi thing
Jango: I'll take the gun back if he tries to leave, they can't get far before--WHAT THE FUCK He knows Jedi are scary but he’s still not really used to just how over the top ridiculous they are He knows how to deal with Jedi in battle, not Whatever The Fuck These People Are Doing
Rex isn't even a Jedi, he's just so used to working with them. “Oh yes time for free-falling without a parachute again, same shit as always.”
Tia: I’m imagining Jango freaking out and Quinlan and Tholme being like. Concerned but mostly exasperated Clearly if they’re jumping off buildings it must be serious? But jfc they could’ve maybe communicated a bit more?
Leia: I want to finish my juice Tholme: Quin, stay with her while we go figure out what those two are doing. Quinlan: Wait what
Jango: Oh now he’s jumping off a building too??? Tholme: Sokari, you are not registered! You can't legally jump out windows yet! Jango: What the hell is going on? Is this normal?
We don’t necessarily know how often Ahsoka and Maul ran into each other after Mandalore. There was the later thing on Malachor, but other than that I'm just going with the idea that they ran into each other every year or two and just went for the eyes like feral cats
Ahsoka: I need to kick ass and you're coming with me. Rex: Yeah, okay. [several minutes later] Rex: Whose ass are we kicking?
Ahsoka and Rex
Neloms aren’t a SW fruit to the best of my knowledge, I just wanted to mess around with lemons/melons
Jango: you didn’t think any of this through, did you? Rex: you were there, you know we didn’t "When the Jedi says to jump out a window, I jump out a window."
Tholme’s real composed about stalking the ancient nigh-mythical enemy of his people, very “Life is already so goddamn weird”
This fic has been so heavy on the trauma but then I introduce Maul and suddenly it's the worst kind of comedy Nobody is competent, everyone's a little dumb, the bad guy is just grocery shopping
My propensity for banter has turned this into a six-person buddy cop comedy about Maul buying grapes They spend a significant amount to time ineffectually stalking Maul before Quin suggests the sensible option Quinlan just "You remember this is my literal job and specialty right"
Ahsoka sees Maul and all her brain cells go out the window except "Fight good" Usually she doesn’t need to worry about doing things legally. Maybe she needs to worry about someone seeing her do illegal things but she spent the past 15 yrs in a place where her existing was illegal
I feel like he’s also maybe kinda wanting to reassert that yes he is competent. Bc like. Ahsoka’s been kinda condescending this whole time and also can beat everyone up so. It's not his fault that he's actually the youngest person there, but.
Jango is finding this whole being friendly to Jedi thing a lot more overwhelming than he thought it would be. And overwhelming in different ways.
Maul usually signifies things getting worse and more horrifyingly tragic but he's just a dumb teen that they needed to arrest for his own good.
Quinlan: Look, I'm useful! Ahsoka: I've been through hell, wanna hear? Quinlan: NO. I DON'T. WHY.
Quinlan: I understand the concept of joking about your traumas, I do it sometimes myself! But sith hells that’s a lot of trauma.
Quinlan just wanted her to treat him as a Competent Individual, and here she is whipping out stories about Dying and Gods and the Force insists it's the truth and he just???? And apparently emo darksider over there is a Sith. And just, sure. Why not
A lot of people’s interactions with the time travelling disaster lineage is just
Tholme and Fett arguing and Ahsoka's just waiting for a moment to pop in with "Hey, when's the last time either of you worked with the other's culture before this mess? Yeah, that's what I thought."
Much like Leia and Ahsoka hurting each other earlier, and Tholme figuring out the de-aging, we ALSO have Fett’s confrontation with Ahsoka being something the characters just did, rather than something I planned.
FTR the only time I managed to trigger myself while writing this fic was the “your behavior isn’t actually acceptable and we’ve all been trying really hard to give you room to recover but you have to at least make an effort to not be a bitch”
Writing about people having PTSD and symptoms of such: Yay! Writing about people having PTSD and engaging in toxic behavior to cope: Shit Ahsoka had... basically my exact reaction. It's "remind yourself that you're in the wrong, that they have a point, and then be overly formal in the apology because fuck if you accidentally make them feel sorry for you when they're the injured party"
Quinlan: Can we be friends? I mean, you're an asshole, but you're really cool. Let's be friends. (He MIGHT be nursing a crush) (Neat mysterious girl who can beat him up.)
Also he realises she's probably nicer when not having a slow-motion breakdown He's like "Huh, you'll probably be less of an asshole once you've gotten therapy."
...also, she pretty and got Nice Biceps
I love writing a good mental breakdown
I was so close to including a "he tried to kill me" just early enough for Jango to wildly misinterpret as her thinking Quinlan tried to kill her. He'd have been very confused, considering Quinlan's the one that called them down in a panic and currently has Ahsoka having her massive breakdown in his lap But
Tia: I could see Jango interpreting it as idk, Quin resembling someone or for a moment acting like someone who tried to kill her and she had a flashback or something like that
There's absolutely room for a couple reasonable interpretations there And "trapped in a flashback about someone who tried to kill her" is absolutely what's happening! Just. You know. For a different reason. Jango probably wouldn’t assume Quin would hurt her, for one thing he seems to like her, for another even if he did he’s smart enough to pick a way that wouldn’t be so likely to get him caught
I had to step back and actually say “Also I'm just. Wow. I'm really just shoveling QPP Rex&Ahsoka at full speed”
Me, a few weeks ago, joking: Two halves of the same idiot black ops specialist Me, now, entirely seriously: Two halves of the same idiot black ops specialist
Me, belatedly: Oh, Ahsoka being joyfully mean to people was a form of mania she was unconsciously using to build a barrier between herself and her impending meltdown
She went from "just died" to "in charge of Rex and Leia" in like. Two minutes.
Confession: I've been delighting in the mental image of this whole Mess leading Jango to try to retake Mandalore, and Ahsoka loans him a saber for a 1v1 to get the darksaber.
“Can’t I just fight him barehanded? That’s how I did it on Galidraan.” "But the drama, Fett!"
Probably Rex has learned how to use a saber as well, because you never know when you have to borrow a weapon
I later changed my mind to Jango asking her to help, rather than her just sneak-teaching him, but it was funny.
Background nonsense to all this is Ahsoka and Rex, despite Rex being as force-sensitive as a lump of coal, having developed a process where she can extend her sensitivity to him mind-to-mind for weird symbiotic battle trance that scares everyone around them. It’s very similar to Battle meditation.
CONTEXT FOR LEIA BEING WORRIED ABOUT THOLME HIDING THINGS: Tholme is hiding the fact that the Council reached out and told him that the people he picked up might be connected to Ben and Luke, who showed up after the Depa thing but a solid week and change before Jango's ship makes it to the Temple. They asked that he not share that information to avoid getting anyone's hopes up in case the two situations aren't related. Ben and Luke haven't shared enough information for anyone to really be sure if the other three are connected Because the info Tholme has isn't quite the info Jango has, etc. And they can't just say Ben is a future Obi-Wan over comms
I just have a lot of feelings about people trying to do something right and just. Nobody's at fault! Not really! It's just complicated!
Tia: I like how when Ahsoka isn’t doing maladaptive trauma response stuff she’s very mature. And of course she’s had to be but it’s a good like, contrast. Where when she slows down to think about things she’s very sensible
Jango just spends most of this story lowkey wanting Ahsoka to Be His Friend but there's too much baggage that he's only metaphysically responsible for
Local aroace(?) has a squish
Ahsoka: He just wants to get on my good side because of Rex. Jango: I'm pretty sure you could kill an entire army without trying but you wouldn't because you have actual morals and stuff... and when I met you it was because you were killing yourself trying to keep (what appeared to be) children safe... you seem cool please be my friend.......
Ahsoka’s #1 weakness: mountains of trauma Ahsoka’s #2 weakness: she just doesn’t get why so many people think she’s cool and want her to be their (girl)friend
Jango, a 27yo massacre survivor who's killed Jedi masters with his bare hands: [gets lectured on various government structures by a tiny girl that's missing several teeth and needs to sit on books to see the table properly]
Ahsoka was raised in a religious meritocracy but developed all her opinions during a galactic war and then became a vigilante spy, Rex comes from a military cult, Leia is from an inherited monarchy that participates in democracy, Quinlan was originally from what appears to be a dynastic dictatorship, and IDK about Tholme other than that he is also from the religious meritocracy. And in legends Quinlan came to the religious meritocracy after his aunt sacrificed his parents to a vampire cult and then forced him to experience the psychometric echoes of that. There's just. A lot going on.
Leia at least has knowledge about structure and admin in theory that isn't based in either the military or populations under 10k
Jango: I want to be your friend. Ahsoka: Sounds fake.
I am unfairly fond of "Rex destroys a conversation by bringing up his own horrifying childhood and calling it a cult"
"Why does Sokari call you 'Rex'ika'?" "Because she's older than me." "...can I--?" "No."
Nickname privileges are extended ONLY to Ahsoka and older clones. There are no more older clones, so it's just Ahsoka.
Me joking about Star Wars AUs: Would you like a crackship? Me writing actual Star Wars fic: My favorite character type is apparently “too traumatized to have a relationship” so this is at least 90% gen.
I had to pull a scene opening at one point because Ahsoka's skill with not getting shot is actually much less useful than Tholme's clearance levels.
Now I really want a team-up of Ahsoka, Rex, and Jango where they do have to get in a dogfight of the "she flies, we shoot" variety and Fett just has to scream because the speeder thing to catch Maul was one thing, but this....
Ahsoka, before TCW: I know all the traffic rules but I'm not that great at flying! Ahsoka, after TCW: I'm great at flying but if you let me behind the wheel we are absolutely getting arrested.
She went from "knows the rules but doesn't have the skills" to "has the skills but primarily in the form of not getting shot" which! Is delightful! "Bet I can get us through that alley--" "DO NOT"
Jango and Ahsoka are both just very "Is this friendship? Is this camaraderie? My heart's been fried on platonic love by so many murders that I'm not sure anymore." "I've lost a lot of friends. I kind of forgot how to make those."
I have no idea if "hasn't been closer than Alderaan except that one trip to Chandrila" is canon-compliant but ehhhhhhhh It feels plausible enough?
Belatedly realized that I could just explain my optimal Rex&Ahsoka dynamic as just... drift compatible. It's vague enough on the specifics while still digging into the meat of what they mean to each other and how they work together. The terminology is already in existence. I can just use it.
Romantic? Platonic? Familial? Doesn't matter! They're drift compatible.
They are important to each other and that is what matters
I really like the Leia&Quinlan thing. He's just like "This small child needs a friend that isn't super depressed," and decided he's going to be her friend. I keep trying to toss in "Quinlan volunteers to 'baby'sit." She's not much older and she has a Baby Brain, it works out
There's a running bet as to whether Leia will leave the Order the second she turns thirteen, or if she'll let Sokari "train" her for a few years first. And... that’s how I came up with Leia Antilles, Senator of Serenno.
They'll be bullshitting Ben as her new master to "finish out the padawanship" since they can't tell everyone she's really in her thirties and he's conveniently there and already knows everything and was half her master anyway. Like Ben was planning on taking on Luke, but Luke is "six" and even he can't swing that as old enough to be a Padawan, and it's not like Sokari will take more than a handful of years to justify knighthood, sooooooooo
#Ahsoka Tano#Captain Rex#Leia Organa#Jango Fett#Obi Wan Kenobi#time travel#de aging#Phoenix Babbles#Uncle Ben and Little Luke#Auntie Soka and Little Leia#I need to excise the bits that are actually funny on their own

Hi. Umm this must be a stupid and unsettling question but I'm just gonna put it out there.
So Im a destiel shipper and I love reading fics. ok so, all this while TFW had been fighting for freedom and wanted to write their own stories and defeated god n everything. and in mid way of reading in dean's POV it struck me all of a sudden that dean wouldn't want me to know these things going on his mind. ok if you say dean and cas are fictional characters technically speaking and they can't possibly give consent, thats fine ig. but obviously I'm so attached to these characters and maybe I want to believe they're real. especially given how spn is a huge example of how a character can take control of the story being told. and ok yes, I know we as a fandom want to see our beloved characters happy. but what gives me the right to get into dean's mind? I'm dean coded so I always choose fics with his POV but I all of a sudden felt like a perv. Isn't freedom and privacy (from chuck/audience) what dean and the rest of the team fought for?? and we just continue toying with them just cause we recover slightly from cw's bullshit? Idk how this thought came to me after all this time but I do feel guilty to have been reading fics. anyway, is it just me or is this kind of feeling common? I enjoy fics too much I don't want to feel like this
Nonny, you are going through it, huh? I don't know how common/uncommon it is but certainly, many people in this fandom find a lot of self-recognition in these characters and that can be uncomfortable. Sometimes in great ways (the amount of times I have realized something I needed to work through in therapy because of a fic is slightly embarrassing) and sometimes in bad ways.
They are absolutely fictional characters and you shouldn't feel guilty. We tell stories for so many reasons. To understand. To find hope. To believe we can change things. To imagine a different world. There is nothing bad about getting insight into how people think Dean would feel or think. And if it helps, I think frequently what you are actually getting in a fic is a part of the author that they are sharing voluntarily. Certainly, my most beloved writing is often based on my experiences. On telling a story that I think matters.
As a concrete example, I wanted to tell a story in The Birds and the Ts about rebuilding after trauma. A recognition that the trauma isn't what makes you and love isn't what heals you. You rebuild with the help of those that love you. You get to decide how to remake yourself. So a lot of those thoughts the characters have and the choices they make? They are me telling myself and the reader it's okay to feel that way. You aren't alone and there is hope.
They are fictional, but I get the existential crisis. I do. In second grade I lived in fear that I was a character in a book or a dream. And I was terrified I would simply disappear when it ended. That feeling? I can say that feeling is common enough that more than one person has told me they also went through it.
But if it helps, even if they were real in a pocket universe living out these stories, you wouldn't be Chuck by reading about them. Maybe we are all Becky? Or Marie? Certainly, reading a fic is not manipulating time and space. And EVEN if they were real, Dean doesn’t seem to think about the readers of the series in the show. He doesn't seem uncomfortable around Marie, for instance. So even if you can't shake the existential fear that they are somehow real, I don't think you have to worry that the hypothetical Dean made reality would even think about or care about fic.
I would also consider whether you might be feeling exposed, and whether that is contributing to this feeling. Like some things are hitting close to home. That is an uncomfortable feeling. If that is part of it, consider what I said above. If it makes you feel vulnerable because you identify strongly with it, there's a better than 0 chance that it's because the author either speaks from experience or has looked at this character, seen this thing that makes you feel vulnerable, and loved him for it. So try to take heart in that.

When it comes to talking about DBH characters who get character growth/a redemption arc, Hank is the obvious person to bring up, and there’s the obvious fandom fixation on Gavin, but what about Adam Chapman? He has an arc in the game that sort of disappears in the fray when compared to other characters but he has the literal journey that everyone wants Gavin to have. But even in comparison to others I feel like Adam completely stands on his own as a good character with so much potential as far as his past, future and motivations.
When Kara, Luther and Alice first show up at Rose’s house, Adam is outside chopping wood and literally turns them away, saying his mom isn’t just too busy to talk to them - she doesn’t WANT to. Of course this isn’t the case and Rose invites everyone inside. And Adam is PISSED.
Also he’s wearing a shirt that says Average Casual Guy which is so funny
Adam is young, probably around twenty, he doesn’t seem to be away at college or anything, rather Rose says they just farm their own food to sell at the market and that’s how they scrape by. Sounds stressful, especially with a bunch of Androids living in their house. It’s obvious Adam doesn’t want them around and definitely doesn’t want any new deviants showing up, after the call for revolution that occurred with Markus’s Stratford Tower speech.
As the scene goes on, you get more information about the Chapman’s and the things they’ve been through. Rose is obviously an incredibly strong and compassionate person to be helping the Androids to this extent, but there’s no denying it’s putting her and Adam in danger. When Kara walks in on their right in the kitchen, Adam is telling Rose they need to stop getting involved, that it’s not safe, and he’s not going to back down about this issue anymore.
His outburst over this is pretty understandable, in the context of the game - even when Kara first shows up asking for Rose, Adam’s first question is, “What do you want with her?” Which I feel like isn’t just about whether Kara is an Android or not, but whether she’s someone there to bust them for having Androids in the house. And of course he’s right, because the cops come by like five minutes later to search the house. They are putting themselves in danger, and even though they’re doing the right thing, it must still be a strain on their family... and it’s clear they’ve fought about this many, many times.
So, yeah, his rejection of his mother’s desire to help the Androids comes from a place of fear for their safety, which is understandable to an extent. But he isn’t just afraid of deviants and doesn’t want to help them - he really seems to hate them, which shouldn’t be an understandable view to hold within the context of the game and the allegory of the Civil Rights Movement, and then the language he uses is like, yikes...
It’s not, I understand they’re in trouble but I’m upset you’re putting us in danger, it’s something else - and of course Adam is really mad, and maybe saying something he doesn’t necessarily mean, but this does seem to reflect his view of the Androids as a whole. At this time, Adam honestly doesn’t see them as being people, which probably makes it even harder for him to understand why Rose goes so far out of her way to help them.
I mean, she sets up trips across the river which have been obviously successful, she drives them to Jericho, she has some kind of contact with or understanding of the revolution leaders because she’s able to direct Kara on where to go, and though not much is explained, her brother (and Adam’s uncle) is obviously totally cool with Androids because he’s willing to help them too. She’s clearly been doing this for a while, or at least is proactive enough to take action and do whatever she has to. She’s even willing to take care of Alice once they get across the border. Literally the hero of DBH but I digress. Adam doesn’t think Androids are worthy of the rights they’re asking for, especially when compared to humans.
What follows this is one of the most intriguing lines in the scene (to me)
What does this mean?? We know his father passed away, and Rose says that ever since then, Adam just boils over sometimes. Maybe it happened suddenly, an accident possibly - or did he get sick? Were Androids involved somehow, like what happened with Cole? What was Rose’s husband’s opinion on Androids? Things have changed since he passed, for sure, but still. Did he hold that same “Androids aren’t alive” opinion that Adam is now expressing? Or is it just that Adam thinks if his dad were still here, he’d be able to solve this issue somehow? Maybe his dad was a politician who ran on pro-Android laws and after he died Adam has become disillusioned with his parents’ worldview ??? Maybe his father died helping Androids too and that’s why Adam rejects them so much. Or maybe his dad hated Androids so much he would have never allowed Rose to help them, and so they wouldn’t have gotten involved in the first place, in Adam’s mind. (Edited to say that apparently it’s canon that Adam’s father died of cancer though I can’t recall it specifically being said in the game, so that is definitely a sad addition to things☹️)
I’m literally just making shit up lol but I really do personally hesitate to give Adam some kind of super traumatic backstory or make him bigoted against Androids because the Black characters are already treated poorly enough in the game when it comes to those things. I’m inclined to think this is just a general outburst of missing his dad and wanting him to be there to ‘fix’ things or at least, maybe, mediate the conversation between Adam and Rose. Idk, it’s cool to speculate on, especially when other characters are given super deep dives into their literally nonexistent canon backstory, it definitely feels like there’s so much that’s unsaid here.
Obviously there’s a couple of different ways the gameplay can go after this - but one other thing I wanted to bring up was what happens if you end up with Kara at the border crossing and run into Rose and Adam there. After talking to Rose in the bathroom and making a plan to all go to her brother’s house, Kara talks to Adam outside-
He says he doesn’t agree with Markus’s methods (which is like.. ok.. a whole other conversation in itself)(EDIT: so apparently the answer is different if you choose the ‘pacifist’ route for Markus- Adam says that ‘seeing what Markus is doing made me realize you’re alive’ !!! Which is cool that it changes and def reflects something different about his character than if his response is always the same!) So anyway he now believes in Androids’ right to freedom and happiness. What made this come about?? Was it after interacting with Alice and Kara and Luther?? I have a theory that Rose knew Alice was an Android as soon as they showed up but just played along - maybe when Adam realized there were Android children mixed up in this too, he began to change his view on things, maybe see himself in them, or see things through his father’s eyes, wanting to protect his family and child. Maybe that’s the lens through which Adam begins to see it. It could be the peaceful pacifist revolution Markus is leading, if he is- but even if not, Adam still changes his mind.
Or, maybe after everything that’s happened, he just realizes he was being kind of an asshole about the whole thing and when it came down to it, a government that was literally going door to door searching for Androids and the people who might help them? That’s probably not the type of place Adam wants to live in. It’s definitely interesting to think about his motivations and what brought him to this point.
And even though it’s sad for Kara and Luther, I find the ending where Alice ends up with the Chapman’s really.. bittersweet-ly satisfying in a narrative way. Found family .... though of course it sounds like they were all planning on meeting at Rose’s brother’s house so they would have all been together anyway☹️
🥲I feel like I had so much more to say but yeah!! I think he’s such a cool interesting character and I love that he ends up on the side of the Androids in the end. And what happens after they escape safely??? Does he start helping deviants too like Rose does? Are they going to settle down and form a commune of sorts with the other Androids who escaped? I love the idea of that loss in Adam’s life being filled up with the addition of new people who care about him, and a little sister in Alice, since he seems to be an only child. The possibilities of it all...
Adam has a sad sort of story to his past, he dislikes Androids and then comes around, he has so much potential for what happens after the revolution - and he’s not the only one!!! There are so many characters in the game that deserve a closer look but I just love Adam..
#dbh#adam chapman#he’s just really compelling guys#like. he actually has an Android friendly redemption arc. in canon !!!#Gavin whomst????
