I know you're probably like "what? why? this makes no sense!" and that's completely valid but hear me out, this came to me in a dream. Like, wouldn't it be cool if Flatline and Respawn started working together? It's just too perfect because their names flow and sound like a really cool anti-hero or villain duo, their names together imply a never ending cycle of death and rebirth and that's both tragic and beautiful. I also feel like they would mesh well, she's in charge and he's all too willing to follow her lead, could be because he's in love with her or could be because he's desperate for a friend and a sense of belonging (this doesn't have to be a romantic ship, but it also could be).

Like, can you imagine if like things don't work out between her and Damian (🤞) and now one of the Super Son's enemies are his ex and his half-brother who hates his guts. Like imagine ALL THE ANGST! Damian might still be struggling with the loss of his first "girlfriend" (kind of one-sided tbh, he's a cringe little loser /affectionate) and NOW she's hanging out with his brother?! The brother that hates him!!! (also completely one-sided, cringe runs in the family) Anyway, they roll up on the Super Sons and Damian is completely off his game and Jon has to really step into the protector role, something that Damian doesn't usually let him do, but he's so caught off guard he can't even think clearly. Jon is just like, "what is happening right now? I guess I'm in charge? who are these people and why do they make bestie sad?!"

Would Sabo having black hair look like Ace? This would obviously be bad for any Sabo/Ace ship, but in a world where they don't end up together, the "twins" would probably really look alike given their curls and similar hair styles.

Also does Sabo and/or Ace ever ask/want to use the Monkey D. name? Is Crocodile Monkey D. Crocodile technically after he marries Dragon?

Regarding the names! Good question! In the Stinky Child AU Ace, after he nearly dies, might take the Monkey name.

Sabo and Crocodile though... Neither of them have the D initial but I think both technically have been offered the Monkey name. But out of all of them only Luffy actually uses it. It's public knowledge now that Dragon is a Monkey D. so maybe one day they'll just all start using it because the World Government might as well know that it's their family who's going to bring it all down. >:3

But strangely, to talk about the so-called infidelities of Daemon, present precisely in Fire and Blood and not HOTD of these same fans, well there are people ! While these infidelities did not take place in HOTD and may never take place. And beyond that, at no time have these so-called infidelities been proven. At no time. And if you have a functioning brain in terms of reflection and analysis, it is necessarily probable that these infidelities of Daemon with Mysaria and Nettles are purely false. But of course, the fact is that most of these people are condemning Daemon for something he hasn't done yet and may never do, in the only material that matters to these people, namely HOTD. But strangely, Rhaenyra's infidelitie, no one cares about that. On the contrary, it's apparently great because it's sapphic "representation". Rhaesaria is representation ? An improvised scene that comes out of nowhere and has no impact on the storyline ? Let me laugh. And apparently, Rhaenyra would be justified, because Daemon strangled her at the end of season 1. You know, that other scene that came out of nowhere and made no sense. But obviously, critical thinking is dead in this type of person.

Put Fire and Blood aside if you want to justify these two shitty ships, but the reality is that they don't need Fire and Blood to be bad. They are simply poorly written in the context of HOTD alone.

2024 fic reading stats / AO3 Wrapped - Reader Edition

Last April I got the idea that I wanted to, in some form, get a better understanding of how much and how often I read fic, and some other stats as well. Obviously I knew the answer was a lot and often. But you know the urge to make lists and sort things when you're stressed? Yeah, that hit, so I started up a spreadsheet starting May 1st. In my spreadsheet I logged the date I had read the fic, the fic's title, author, fandom, ship, rating, and word count. I also added the AO3 link to the fic which has proven handy in looking up recs and stuff like that!

I just wanted to share some of those stats now that I've made lil graphs to go with them and everything lol

Starting with the totals:

Last year, from 1 May to 31 Dec, I read about 3,928,191 words of fanfic. (Now, that's the logged amount, but it's not... perfect. I won't go into detail but let's just state that that amount is still very telling!)

Total of different fics I read during the logged time was 478. (There are 479 logged entries but one of them was a reread, so.)

The most amount of entries for a single day was 8, and it happened three times lol. Two of those I know I was sick but idk what that third day was, probably a wonderfully lazy sunday.

Authors:

I logged at least 141 different AO3 authors. (Some people using several pseuds may have confused my count a little but give or take a couple!)

Here I have to shout out @fuddlewuddle because if I read 478 fics, 93 of those were hers. I don't even know what to say except that I'm glad our freaks match each other <3

A fun thing to note was that I myself made it on my top 10 list of "favorite" writers based on the amount of fics logged because I reread my own stuff frequently enough! That's kind of uplifting to think about. If sorted by word count, however, I am farrr from the top, because I tend to write shorter fics :D But I'm happy to keep it that way!

Fandom:

Showing off some percentages based on the 478 logged fics. Ahem, as you can see, Top Gun continues as the ruling fandom in my life, but there were some new smaller fandoms coming in as well! And that strange, two movie fandom fusion is, of course, courtesy of Fuddle...

If I were to sort these by word count instead, the percentages would stay pretty much the same, except Other fandoms would give a tiny bit of its slice over to Ted Lasso.

Ship:

Again, this is based on the total of 478 logged fics. Quelle surprise, I'm a hangster girl and there's a lot of that on the market, so 183 out of those 478 were hangster fics. Other ships here entails multi-ship fics (where the ships are equal instead of clear main ship & background ship type of thing), poly ships with a number of varying character combinations, and ships that had less than 5 logged fics with it as the main ship.

(The tiny red dot says roykeeleyjamie and it had 6 logs in total. The purple dot with the name not fully showing is macheresin with 10 fics.)

Rating:

This is again based on the total of 478 fics.

My own writing stats:

I posted 18,687 words' worth of fic last year (though some thousands of words haven't made it to AO3 yet, but were still written last year). As you can see, I am still very much a reader rather than a writer, but it's the best of both worlds, getting to do both!

Overall, I thought this was a fun experiment, and I'm going to keep up with my spreadsheet for the new year – because what is life without spreadsheets, really.

Guess if I realized I had forgotten to log at least one longer fic after finishing up the last of those graphs!!!! Sighhh

Physical Disabilities: Scoliosis, arthritis in several areas, and carpal tunnel syndrome...basically everything hurts lol. I'm somewhere between "too disabled to work" and "not disabled enough for disability checks" so I'm currently kind of a burden (though I make up for it by being a househusband XD) and I feel bad about that but that's a story for another post too I think lmao

Special Interests Include: Theme parks (mainly Disney parks and Universal parks...yes this includes the overseas ones and the cruise ships and such), rides (especially cheesy dark rides), and well...pretty much anything in the touristy type area and in the entertainment industry like animatronics, gaming, technology, and shit like that lol. I have a LOT of YouTube channels about this stuff saved and will gladly share them with you!!

Hyper Fixations: Mostly the band Ghost tbh lol, I can (and I cannot stress this word enough) literally infodump on them for HOURS-

Anything else: My hobbies include drawing, writing, cosplaying, and role playing. My fav things are sex, drinking, cats, and food! In song 1, lines 135-140 Agamemnon mentions the bride prizes of several Achaean leaders, including Odysseus. Obviously nothing else is mentioned, no name, just that he has one, too. What’s your take on that? Any headcanons? I honestly hate the whole cheating discourse around him and I don’t want to add more fuel to the fire because in the Odyssey he was clearly a victim!! I would just love to know what you think about this particular thing in the Iliad. Considering the historical and cultural context, having a bride prize was normal in war (albeit awful from our modern standpoint). But Odysseus is a very interesting and complicated character so this could go in many different ways with him, and in any case it doesn’t really change my opinion on his love for Penelope. As yeah...My Odysseus is aspec (basically Pen-romantic/Pen-sexual), I kind of plan to WRITE it personally as a bit of a thing with "Grab one of Odysseus' slaves, he doesn't use them as concubines."

And with Odysseus being the one to transport Chryseis, I have it where it's a bit of "I'll go bring her to her father. Take any slave you wish from my tent if you must. I don't care."

I want to make it clear that I'm not writing like this or interpreting this in the way of "UwU Odysseus is too of a good boy for that." as that feels icky to try and "make everyone else shitty to make him 'better'". It's literally because Odysseus is just simply LIKE this. He has basically no libido/sex drive if Penelope isn't around. (I'm keeping this as safe for wormlings as I can so I'll leave it at that.)

98% of posts on my page in the last 6 months or so is to do with this ship- I've had a lot of thoughts about it.

S3 soured my opinion on it, and I've seen some eyebrow raising opinions emerge after s3 that are kind of wild, but sobering I guess?

But unfortunately I've hyperfixated on this ship now so I won't let go until it's over. So yikes for me I guess.

Like I've invested so much attention to it and the odds are looking terrible, but I hope it works out anyway?!?!

hey again, thanks for replying to my previous ask! I have another ask, if you think AiTani (Aizen x Tanisha) have parallels with Ulquihime (Ulquiorra x Orihime?) What do you think are the similarities between the ships?

So in the TCACLOM (the captive and captor's liberation) fan made novel (it's a continuation of post-canon CFYOW events) there is this character named Tanisha Chōdhori, she is appointed the warden of muken and all, she's this stoic and almost nearly emotionless character and then she meets Aizen who she's guarding in Muken obviously and while she guards him, Aizen makes her so infuriated with his words about her true desires and how she desires a path free from soul society that she started feeling emotion in a long time, and she realized that she could openly explore these new emotions if she has Aizen with her so she breaks him out of muken for his companionship while he gets liberation and freedom from imprisonment. For context: Soul Society forced Tanisha as a young girl into this emotionally detached mindset that if she acts the way they want, she'll be a respected member of the Gotei 13 and if she acts in any other way, she'd be criticized for not meeting the standards of how a professional shinigami should be. (The soul society has a bias against Tanisha because of her grandfather named Saphir who ruled the chōdhori clan as the 20th head. The chōdhori clan was a minor clan ruled by the Shiba which was their parent family, so they're basically related ig. The 20th head of the chōdhori clan had attempted to assassinate Kaien Shiba (Before Kaien's Actual Death) to take over the branch of the Shiba clan that Kaien ruled, and by ruling this branch, he could sabotage the other branches of the Shiba Clan but was caught by Ukitake and executed while the rest of the chōdhori clan was exiled to the poorest district of rukongai to repent in place of the 20th head's crime. Tanisha's father named Raiten had obviously escaped Soul Society to the Human World with another elderly chōdhori who was also a Vice Kidō Chief that managed to open the Senkaimon for him, and that's how Raiten started a new life and eventually had Tanisha.) Tanisha has been severely misunderstood for her family's reputation and this damaged the image the other shinigami would have of her, so they became more expectant of her to follow their standards so she can at least fit in with the crowd. Tanisha only developed a strong bond and relationship with Aizen when she became his warden as he challenged her rigid belief that she had no capacity for any other desire besides serving soul society, basically Aizen helped her see a new world and that is why she liberated him from Muken. Tanisha broke Aizen out of Muken if he'd marry her in exchange for liberation, because he's the only one to show her a new world and a new trajectory that no one else has shown her before, and she would explore that path with Aizen).

I don't have any interest in the Bleach novels (retcons & more nonsense) but this fan novel doesn't sound too bad. Based on what you said, it does sound like this AiTani ship has some similarities with UlquiHime. The girl sounds similar to Ulquiorra in the stoicism & stuff, & both became curious & intrigued by their captive. Aizen was being a manipulator but Ori was just showing her heart to Ulquiorra. I'm surprised Tanisha asked for marriage but I guess Aizen will do whatever it takes to get free, lol. Idk if the novel implies if he will develop any feelings for Tanisha, but I think that Ulquiorra would have definitely developed them for Ori had he lived (or maybe he kind of did?).

Anyway, so yeah, I can see some parallels there. Maybe the writer is an UH fan? Lol.

Yeah, and afterwards were having wagyu sushi lined with gold leaf caviar and dodo bird! How fancy right?" and grandads all like DODO BIRD? I need to think more about how to make it a proper episode with classic boondocks flavor social commentary though. I want to make it a doujin one day and have my black in-law friend help me with the script bc im not going to say the n word but its not really boondocks dialogue without it so i will need him to collaborate with me.

i also have my golden kamuy aus too. the yaoi ogata au is a big one but this post is becoming gianormous so send me another ask if you'd like to be introduced to yaoi ogata. and i have my usakado au that isn't really an au but I have a very specific way I want this ship to occur. because I don't think it's canon at all but if it were to happen the only way it could (and should) is if kadokura is about to be trampled to death by noahs arc bc of his luck but then in a twist of events usami ends up getting trampeled. and kadokura thinks that this is good luck but actually its his regular bad luck bc after usami heals from the incident he has critical brain damage that transfers his lust and yandere obsession from tsurumi to kadokura (being loved by usami is worse than dying LOL). And it spirals from there. I want it to also have a lot of biblical references because I think it really fits usakado to have kadokura like a jesus marytr since his bad luck will counteract usami's unending lust for world destruction. Since by being together the bad luck makes it so usami always fails at the crazy shit hes trying to do and it's like kadokura is protecting the world from usamis insanity by taking it all..... figuratively and in the ass too! how beautiful is that?

I'm rereading the chapters on Luffy's childhood, so let's do some Dragon criticism ;3 (I love questionable dads, so don't take this as hate. I obviously don't hate this guy *lol*)

We learn that Sabo, Ace and Luffy were rather infamous in Grey Terminal and their names were even known in the Capital City. If that was the case, then how come that Dragon didn't know about the ties between Sabo and Luffy (and also Ace?)

Here he was, with an amnesiac child on his hands (that he knows was born a noble and that he also has the name of as we learn later) and he did not bother to do the bare minimum of research into who this kid is? If he did, then Luffy's name would have come up. There's of course the option that he did do his due diligence, found out that this kid was a friend of Luffy's and made a choice not to do anything about it.

Both options aren't great...

Then there's also this thing the RA does that rubs me the wrong way a little bit and that is to make it sound like being saved is conditional. Why do you tell people who are stranded on the shore, flames surrounding them, carrying small children, with nowhere to go but the ship in front of them "Those of you who wish to join me in a battle for freedom board my ship"? Betty does that too and I don't like it X'3 I'm sure he wouldn't have left them standing there to die if they didn't want to join him but it's still not great X'D

Two days pass after the burning of Grey Terminal and we know that Dragon was sticking around because he does get Sabo out of the water. I can imagine that maybe Dragon was staying behind not necessarily because he wanted to catch a glimpse of the Celestial Dragons. He might have been checking in on Luffy. But Luffy wasn't in Windmill Village. I wonder if he just kept looking and came across Sabo by accident? Or maybe he knew from Garp that Luffy was with Dadan? Either way, if he did check in on him and saw that he was hurt, maybe he'd be angry at himself for not making sure that Luffy was far away from Grey Terminal because apparently the man had time to stroll around the city...

Dragon must have known in advance that the inspection of Goa and the World Noble visit would be happening, so he had plenty of time to make any kind of preparation to make sure that Luffy was safe. And yet??

And then he takes a random child back to Baltigo (and we're back at the first issue.)

and so she's like. Snappy and irritable and basically a scared cat is the best way to describe it. She's curious so she's snooping and messing with things, some things she's never seen before, but it's all so that they hurry up and give her a request so she can LEAVE. She wants to get OUT of there

i was also thinking she doesn't like having her back towards people, like she tries to keep herself facing people at all times (at least when in confined spaces. Other demons probably stare at her scars)

i think it'd be really funny if she sneaks out and follows either Mammon to work or Solomon to class. And just causes trouble. And people are staring at her bc she has horns and a tail and everyone is like "yooo sick cosplay bro how did you do that?!" which would obviously terrify her. Maybe leaving the house wasn't a good idea?

Mammon desperately dialing Solomon to come pick her up bc he's already on his third strike at this job and she isn't helping (ough. What if this gets him fired. Yay conflict.)

I have lots of thoughts churning in my brain over this. I think it'd be nice if they take her shopping for different clothes to try and cover her demon features. Horns are hard though, she is rejecting every hat they try to shove on her head

Anyway there is ONE (1) cute scene in my head of Solomon saying he needs to visit a crystal shop and Mammon whining he doesn't want to be left alone babysitting. So they drag her along. And she might complain on the way there, but the second they get there, she's all starry-eyed

She's so careful with interacting, even afraid to pick things up. Maybe gets real close to stare at spheres, but overall, she's really docile (?) and fascinated. They've never seen her like this. I think Mammon might clink two crystals near her just to see her reaction. Solomon might explain names and properties while she pretends not to be super interested. Blue sandstone catches her eye even though it's a man made crystal (maybe there's irony in that lol)

Also their dynamic is so SO fun to write, there's Kenny, calm and unjudgmental as fuck and Tweek who freaks out over everything. Kenny would give Tweek 10 heart attacks a day with all the dangerous shit he gets into. Both of them are unhinged and insane but Kenny is so on purpose and Tweek involuntarily. That's a comedic fucking duo.

I've shipped them for so long, i can't remember when or why I started doing so. But I do have some guesses. And I think the culprit to my obsession would have to be...Sonic Boom!

Growing up, I didn't have a lot of access to Internet stuff aside from YouTube, in my home, the only channel I knew to have access to was Discovery Kids and Gloob. BUT, my grandma did have access to other channels like Disney XD, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network!

Which is where I discovered Sonic Boom 😌 and I'm pretty sure it was where my love for Sonic began. And because that show hammered in Sonamy so much, I guess I just became inclined to like it? I remember an episode talking about fanfiction and I went to look up what "Sonamy" was and stumbled across an artist (who is still active to this day! To my relief) who did a lot of Sonic Boom sonamy and it just became a comfort ship!

No why do I personally ship them is hard to answer. Probably just for comfort? No, no, I think it goes a little deeper than that. One ship from another franchise that I can compare it too is Zelink! (Zelda x Link).

They are the "practically canon straight ship" and sort of the "obvious" pick, which sorts ends up making them the less popular to the fandom? Lol which is also a shame. But there is so much more to them just being the "practically canon straight couple"! There is obviously a lot of thought put into their dynamic and relationship that reflects in the games and other media.

I tend to look at the smaller details and all the hints the creators drops between them!

Which leads to my favourite sonamy moments, which is when Sonic is the one showing the affection, albeit subtle, towards Amy. I don't have one moment, it's all the times he's like that, but one I can pull up right now and the only one I can remember after only 2 hours of sleep is I Prime, when Sonic is describing his friends and when he reaches Amy he just sighs this love strucken sigh and says "Sweet Amy".

Thay practically sent me rolling!

Another one in Prime is when he is talking to the forest guardian Amy I forgot the name, and she asks about his Amy and he describes her and she says "she sounds pretty cool" or something and, again, with that sigh of admiration says "you are" and--

GAH I JUST LOVE THEM TOO MUCH!!!!

I could talk about them all day man, I want to, I want to have more people to talk about them. Even if I'm not well versed in the Sonic franchise just yet, I love them so much I wanna just- talk about them!

What is your fav thing about each of the AUs that you’re working on?

Cyberpunk

Writing Bells Hells as a group! I'm obviously having a lot of fun depicting romantic dynamics I knew I'd especially enjoy, such as Imogen/Fearne, but I'm also really looking forward to exploring some of the non-romantic bonds in the polycule, such as Imogen and Ashton. Also, this AU is shaping up to be the healthiest (relative term) version of Imotohan I've ever managed (just don't ask what they gotta go through to get there lol). I get to make them truly SOMFT (again, relative term), in due time, and I'm super excited about exploring both Imotohan as a ship as well as how Otohan interacts with the whole of Bells Hells in this setting.

Judicator

ALL the theorizing around facets of Exandria that have not been throughly explored yet in canon. Namely, building up the city of Yios and fleshing out the Aydinlan Seminary as a setting, along with, of course, coming up with every little detail around the creation and magic of the judicators.

Strangely, putting my own experience and knowledge around growing up in 'Small Town, The South' to use by translating Gelvaan into a rural Wyoming town and transplanting some beloved characters in there as well. Imahara Joe runs a mechanic shop, Dancer has a queer bar that the locals tolerate because it's also the only bar in town. Zhudanna owns a diner that serves the best pies, and Old Lass Jemma runs a motel that hasn't been renovated since the 80s. It's neat to explore small town culture and dynamics that I understandably resented when I was a teenager through this new lens of my favorite media/characters.

I would love to toss this question to @inomakani and @maddytrout as well, since all of these are very much joint projects, and I'm curious to see what their fave parts are~
