but:

Plotless Ajawnich fic idea where it starts with "Oh, Kinich," immediatley indicating Ajaw's POV as he then continues to describe, very poetically (because he's a regal and super respectable dragonlord), how beautiful Kinich is in vivid detail but interestingly uses "you/your" instead of "he/his" (ex: instead of "his eyes are beautiful," it's "your eyes are beautiful") making the entire fic sound like dialogue coming from Ajaw to Kinich.

Then he slowly starts describing, still using "you/your," the time he'd spent with Kinich and the small, probably insignificant memories he's had. Ex: how, when he doesn't like something, Kinich's nose scrunches very slightly, or how you can tell when his brow is furrowed under his headscarf by paying attention to his eyelashes.

As the fic starts to end, it suddenly shifts to past tense, Ajaw now musing about what he could've done, or how he would've loved to cherish every moment he has, no matter how insignificant. He thinks about this in regards to his own memory: could he even remember all that, even if he put his mind to it? He doesn't know, but he also muses about the long life he has ahead of him because of it, even as he gazes at Kinich through the mirror, for some reason feeling extremely hollow which is confusing.

The fic becomes suddenly confusing: Ajaw now reaches up to touch Kinich's cheek, watching the motion in the mirror as Kinich's hand rests in that spot. He touches the mirror, Kinich's hand touches back. He blinks and Kinich reflects the motion. It's a very long life Ajaw has ahead of him, he makes a face that Kinich makes too as they look at each other through the reflection. He kisses the mirror, and Kinich kisses back as best it could, but it's only a mirror; it's just cold and flat. So he backs away and holds eye contact with Kinich, quiet and solemn as he tries to conceive a life where a precious facet has been taken from him.

By the end of the fic, you realize that Kinich has already died and it was Ajaw staring at "himself" in the mirror the whole time, having reconciled with his inconceivable feelings a bit too late, and dreading the lonely years that are to come, in a body that shouldn't belong to him, and never getting to have a proper kiss with Kinich, or feel his body with his own, draconic hands; only feeling Kinich's body as if it was his own, except it wasn't his own.

He was so close, yet so far.

EVIL. Nice authors DON'T let little precious characters lie themselves into a fucking hole. NICE authors don't keep torturing the other character that has already gone through so much. NICE AUTHORS LET THEM MEET FOR THE SAKE OF GIVING THE READERS A NORMAL HEARTBEAT
