... at the risk of reigniting Discourse™, what on earth is anyone in this thread talking about?

Like... literally the whole point of the movie is that Luke ISN'T himself when Rey meets him. He has, quite literally, fallen to the Dark Side.

Everything he has tried to build has turned to dust in his fingers, and even despite becoming the heroic saviour of the galaxy, he had to be confronted with the fact that his dark side will not leave him. He had to face the fact that even resisting the temptations of Palpatine and redeeming his father was not enough to help him overcome it once and for all.

Because Luke is his father's son. For better: he has all of Anakin's courage, all of his kindness, all of his hope and optimism and burning desire to make a better world. And for worse: he has all of his flaws. The anger, the temper, the furious love forged in trauma that so easily gets turned towards violence.

He looked at his nephew, the child of his best friend, and for just a moment felt the impulse to destroy an innocent in order to safeguard a future he's desperate to protect. For just a moment, he felt what Anakin felt on Coruscant, walking into the temple to find the younglings.

Because (in his mind) he wasn't strong enough, wasn't good enough, wasn't pure enough, his temple burns and his apprentices die and he loses Ben to the Dark Side. He fails himself, he fails Han, he fails Leia, he fails the galaxy he promised to protect. He fails as completely as his character possibly could.

And Luke is his father's son. He has his father's temperament, and his melancholy and loneliness, and his vulnerability to catastrophizing and spiraling. His is a family with a history of volatility and depression in response to intense trauma.

So when Rey finds him, yeah, you're right, he isn't Luke Skywalker anymore, because he is depressed to the brink of suicide, and has made every effort possible to kill Luke Skywalker away from the galaxy, short of turning the saber on himself. He has fallen to the Dark Side, and submerged his true soul in a dark, nihilistic, hopeless shell, just like his father did before him.

And on the subject of Rey being Luke's adoptive daughter - hey, guess who redeems Luke from his nihilistic darkness, just as Luke redeemed Anakin? Luke's sarcastic taunt that it's stupid to expect him to just walk out and confront the entire First Order with a lightsaber becomes the moment of his greatest redemption when that is exactly what he does, and he does it because Rey believed in him.

Not only does Luke single-handedly face down an entire evil imperial army on his own and humiliate a Sith Lord in single combat, he does it non-violently. He does it by using what is inarguably THE most iconic and thematic Jedi Force power - the very first Force power we ever see anyone use, and the one most associated with his first teacher. From across the fucking galaxy, Luke Skywalker defeats an entire First Order army with a fucking Jedi Mind Trick.

And look, The Last Jedi has problems, and I can complain about them all day, but I simply will not accept the idea that the movie did any disservice to the character of Luke Skywalker, or to the original trilogy.

It uses George Lucas' own most famous narrative philosophy, "it's like poetry, it rhymes," to explore Luke's character as deeply as it possibly can. The original trilogy establishes with all the subtlety of an anvil that Luke has his father's flaws, and the full capacity to become him, but rather than have Luke fall to darkness and become a Vader, it explores what falling to the Dark Side means for Luke, especially in light of his experiences.

He doesn't become a Vader, a self-hating killer turning his inner turmoil into external violence (which is what Kylo, desperate Vader-fanboy, does. Hey, narrative parallels!). Rather he retreats into the reclusive "it's not my business, I won't get involved, stay on the farm and keep your head down" isolationist curmudgeon that his adoptive father Lars tried to raise him to be. He saw his father turn the violence outwards, so he turns it inwards instead, but the consequences are the same: it gives rise to an evil empire.

It's like poetry, it rhymes.

Luke is saved from that fate because, as people point out above, Rey is so very like him, and it is her heart and her courage and her faith and her love that restores to him the light that he had lost. She literally brings him A New goddamn Hope. A future to believe in. Something for which it is worth attempting the impossible.

Luke becomes one with the Force after performing what I think is inarguably the greatest feat of Jedi Force mastery ever shown in a piece of Star Wars media; and he does it after confronting his darkest failure, the deepest representation of his fears and anxieties and self-hate (Kylo Ren), and telling him, to his face, "I did not fail, and I will not be the last Jedi."

Again. People don't have to like The Last Jedi. It is flawed. You don't even have to like the version of Luke it presents, you have every right to have wanted a different take on him. But I simply cannot accept the idea that the movie did not respect or care deeply about his character because it demonstrably did. It cared about him enough to see his flaws, not just his qualities, and tell a story about the whole of him, warts and all.

Luke Skywalker's character isn't premised on simply being good and staying good - it's about choosing good, especially when good is the hardest possible choice.

horrified to realize my blog doesn’t even pass a bechdel test. this will change NOW.

debbie grayson is one of the coolest characters in the invincible tv show, and is a serious upgrade from her character in the comics. she had nolan, this incredibly powerful, planet-destroying alien, going grocery shopping for her across the atlantic ocean. dude was whipped. she wrangled 2 of the top 5 contenders in the power-scaling verse (this grayson father-son duo), and never once failed at it. nolan was missing her from a viltrumite prison before he died. mark’s entire shell-shock at nolan’s “hey bud, you should help me rule the world or something” shot into anger the MOMENT he said he saw debbie as a pet. this woman just yells cecil’s head off and denies his orders, mandates, offers for help — sees right through him, too, and can tell he’s playing her for leverage whenever he can. clocked angstrom so hard that he broke her damn hand. such an incredible lady that even confessing everything about her life to paul didn’t keep bro from wanting her. haven’t even broached the subject of oliver.

beyond her interactions with the men of the invincible show… she is an incredible character on her own. uniquely fearless and compassionate. encourages everyone around her to be a good person, donates all of nolan’s book money to survivors of his atrocity, bears her burdens with a strength that is beyond just motherhood. consumes enough wine to kill an army of viltrumites. clearly intelligent enough to calculate nolan’s top speed and figure out exactly where to send him so she had enough time to search the house for evidence of his murderous acts. figured this guy out pretty much on her own, had the gall to lie to his face and act like everything was fine and pretty much get away with it. takes nolan’s child from his (basically) affair and raises him as her own with no resentment in sight; got mark AND nolan to look past their power-strength-fight-fight-might-makes-right mentality and listen to her, more than once!

tells mark to follow his heart even when nolan disagrees (regarding titan’s request for help in s1); she is quite literally the reason that our mark is a good person, when so many other variants fail to be. mark is debbie’s son before he’s nolan’s. nolan is debbie’s spouse before he’s a viltrumite, try as he might to convince himself otherwise.

she is the axis on which the morality of those around her is precariously balanced. she provides incredible emotional depth to the show and while she has every reason to lose it, she holds together.

and that’s why she’s the goat.

TGR SPOILERS: Jeremy's identity

I've seen people mention that Mathilda keeping Jeremy's documents somewhere is crazy, but I haven't read anyone say what this exemplifies.

We are talking about Jeremy's birth certificate, his passport, social security document... we are talking here about JEREMY'S IDENTITY. The identity that Jeremy's family has held hostage, literally and figuratively. And it's not just that anymore.

We are talking about an abysmal level of violence and homophobia because... if Jeremy wasn't gay, his family wouldn't treat him like that. Think about it. Bryson is the addict and the one who started being Jeremy's dealer, but he has relative freedom. He's even sure that if he blames Jeremy, everyone will believe it.

They blame Jeremy for Noah when everyone knew Noah was not well. Jeremy begged them to help him and no one did. They blame him because they need someone to take all the hits from the family, and that is Jeremy, the gay son who, therefore, falls outside the box in a family of conservative politicians.

This comes from afar, without a doubt. That Jeremy's biological father is also from the "conservative elite" (it doesn't have to be that way, but he is a high-ranking US military official in 2006, I don't think he is very liberal) and abandons the entire family even though Jeremy seems to continue to be loyal to him by keeping his last name (a last name he doesn't like because it continually reminds him that his biological father has abandoned them), says a lot about what Jeremy is experiencing and his sense of loyalty.

The fact that Jeremy does not even have his birth papers exemplifies that his family has stolen his identity, and he is not a person to them either. As long as they have a black sheep to blame, they will never change or excuse Jeremy, because it is in their best interest not to.

The Wilshire need a scapegoat to blame.

This is why I actually think Richard and Amsha deserve the 'award' for worst parents because... there's just nothing good about them.

Yes, Worf lost touch with Alexander and didn't know he had joined the Klingon guard or whatever it was, but before that, Alexander loved his father enough to come to his wedding when he had never (on screen) met Jadzia before. Worf tried to teach Alexander how to be a Klingon warrior as a child, but also indulged him, such as the Next Generations episode where they go to the old west in the holosuite in A Fistful of Datas.

Dukat is a terrible person, but he was a good father as seen in the episode Indiscretions because we all know what is going to happen when his wife and the Central Command learn of Ziyal's existence and for the entire episode, we're wondering if he'll actually be able to do it, to kill his own daughter. And, in the end... he can't, he doesn't even try to change her appearance to look like a pure Cardassian so it would just look like he had a moment of weakness with another Cardassian (still bad, but would it be the same level as a Bajoran woman? I'm reminded of the MASH episode, Yessir, That's our Baby where the South Korean official states that 'the people of Korea are of one race, and fiercely intolerant of any intrusion by a mixed-race child into their society' - maybe Cardassia would view all affairs equally bad, or maybe Dukat lost everything because it was an affair with a Bajoran woman). He loves Ziyal so much, he even assigns Damar as her babysitter to make sure she's happy on the station and tries to play nice with Major Kira because he sees how important Kira is to Ziyal.

Worf tries to incorporate Klingon beliefs into Alexander's way of living without completely wiping out who Alexander is (probably because Deanna told him not to), and Dukat literally gives up everything because he can't kill Ziyal because he loves his children so much (let's ignore that line from By Inferno's Light since he seems to backtrack on her 'not being his daughter anymore' as soon as he's taken the station). I always compare Richard and Amsha to Sisko and Miles because they are good fathers who do what they can to encourage their children's strengths and compensate for weaknesses, but the fact that even Worf and Dukat have points over these two when it comes to parenting is staggering.

In Julian's mind, Richard and Amsha murdered their son because he didn't measure up to their expectations. Maybe Enabran Tain is worse for how he treated Garak and tried to mould him into the perfect operative, but Richard and Amsha are right up there.

So the deal with Kukalaka ~

is that's not Julian's teddy bear. It's Jules's. Julian stitched up "his first patient" when he was five, well before he got his genetic modifications. And for someone who considers himself unnatural, has trouble reconciling his "realness" with the fact that he was "designed"... that is the most comforting thing in the entire world. Here he's got tangible proof, real tangible proof, with Jules' stitching still in the leg and everything, that his love of medicine, his love of what he does, is real.

Wait. Why didnt Plagg go to Adrien as soon as it was over?? I— sure. Ok sure “I did the right thing, right?” NO?? Plagg should be the main one telling her bluntly. ✨Eleazar Lewis-Sweeting✨

Yep, I'm a basic HL fan and I named my MC's child after Professor Fig, I know I’m not the only one but how couldn't I? Professor Fig was like a father to our MC 😭

INTRODUCTION

Eleazar is the adoptive son of Tori and Poppy. How do they become his parents? Accidental parents are the keywords!

In Tori's future lore, Tori is an Auror and Poppy a magizoologist. Sometimes they work together because their mission is still protecting and saving beasts and slaying poachers 😤

After a few years of marriage, Tori and Poppy find a baby in a poacher camp they've just raided. He has a little but barely treated scar on his right eyes and is all alone so for the moment they take him to their home.

At first they don't know what to do with him. They are also not sure if he is the son of some poachers or if he was kidnapped. Tori even checks if he could be among some missing children but the little boy doesn't seem one of them.

They are thinking of adopting him but they are unsure, they've never talked about children before.

The final decision comes one week later, when he walks for the first time. Poppy interrupts her wife’s talking by hitting Tori's chest, exclaiming “He's walking!”

They freak out a little but encourage the baby who walks towards them. When he reaches them they hug him and compliment him. That's the moment they realise they're ready to adopt him.

CHILDHOOD

Eleazar is such a sweet child, he smiles and grins a lot, even to strangers, so much so that his first word is actually ‘hello!’.

He calls Tori ‘Mamma’ (much to Tori's joy because it's the way she called her own Italian mother) and Poppy ‘Mum’.

He will learn Italian too. Because yes 😤

That's how I imagine them being his parents LMAO Poppy is the first, Tori the second.

Actually Tori is first too but she is the one who literally grabs Eleazar by his little legs and tickles him as if it was a niffler (Eleazar has watched his mamma with Coffee Bean once and he found it so hilarious he fills his pocket with stuff and tugs at Tori's trousers exclaiming “Mamma! Up!”).

When he is a little bit older Tori and Eleazar also play wrestling (obviously being careful).

He is a lively child, sometimes too much 😅 as soon as he learns to walk he toddles a lot around the house and garden. Like his mothers he loves nature and he will quickly learn about nature and its animals. Sometimes they try to tire him out during the day to “have some time alone tonight 😏” but often it turns out they are the exhausted ones. Once Tori puts him to sleep and she even falls asleep before him. Eleazar, fully awake, walks back to Poppy, who looks at him amused and confused. “Eli, where is Mamma?”. Eleazar answers with a finger on his lips “Sh, sleep!”

Eleazar loves to hear Poppy reading something, whether it is a tale or her magical beasts studies (he is just like Tori, who also loves Poppy's voice). When Poppy works at home he often sits next to her and listens to whenever Poppy is studying.

He obviously loves all of Poppy and Tori's friends, who are basically his aunties and uncles ❤️ (HCU gang, I love you!)

His gap-toothy grins win everyone's heart in a second. Including Imelda. Before meeting him for the first time, Imelda has written to Tori and Poppy something like “Congratulations for the new entry! But don't make him call me auntie, I'm not an old lady!”

But the day she meets him, Poppy tells Eleazar with a teasing smirk “Look, Auntie Mellie is here!”

Imelda doesn't even have the time to glare at Poppy as Eleazar stretches his arms towards Imelda with a grin. “Au-tie Mellie!” Long story short: Imelda holds Eleazar in her arms all night.

Obviously, he doesn't want to miss any matches of her auntie, Holyhead Harpies is his favourite quidditch team. At the age of 7,during one of Imelda's matches, he tells his mums “I want to be a chaser like Auntie Mellie!” Tori ruffles his hair. “I can already picture your aunt's face once you tell her this!”

Can you imagine Eleazar's surprise when he discovers Auntie Natty is an Animagus? The first time he asks Natty to morph she is afraid to scare him, but when she transforms into a gazelle Eleazar's jaw drops, then he claps his hand laughing. Auntie Natty is cool!

Did I mention he loves magical beasts like his mum? He loves dragons too. To the point of wishing to have a pet dragon. He even cries relentlessly when the mums said no (obviously). “I'm sorry my love, dragons are too dangerous for a child” Poppy says to him when he cries in her arms, barely containing her laughter as she watches Tori, who also is about to burst into laughter. “He is really your son!”

HOGWARTS YEARS

The Sorting Hat was torn between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor for Eleazar. After five minutes, sensing Eleazar wishing for Hufflepuff in order to follow his mothers’ path, the Hat announces he is a Hufflepuff.

Naturally, the moms would have been happy with any houses, but they are extremely proud of him.

He becomes a Chaser in the second year (he would have been already one in the first year, but the team was already full)

His favourite subjects? Care of magical beasts and Charms, of course!

His favourite teacher is Professor Garlick, who is the Head of the Hufflepuff house at the time he attends Hogwarts. Yep, for a while he had a crush on Mirabel 😅

Needless to say, he doesn't like History of Magic. He likes Professor Sharp a lot, but he doesn't particularly like his class.

LOVE INTEREST

“I want to treat and love a girl right just like Mamma loves Mum!” is Eleazar's motto after seeing how Tori is with Poppy: caring, making her laugh, doing infinite romantic things just to make her smile.

But Eleazar can't ask Tori how to flirt with a girl, our witch is still the most useless lesbian ever 🫶 in fact when Eleazar asks Tori “I like a girl, what should I do?” Tori doesn't even have the time to answer that Poppy laughs hysterically. “If you listen to Mamma you will just panic around your crush!” “Hey!”

@acslytherpuff and I are so southern Europeans grandmas that we've already set up Eleazar and the beautiful Alira (daughter of Cassie and Alex) together.

IWTV Musings - Unreliable Narrators: Louis

I am SO sick of people in this effing fandom calling Louis an unreliable narrator as a thinly veiled code for him being a LIAR™. Everyone lies, to themselves & to others. Unless you're a literal sociopath, no one wants to be the villain; blamed for things effing up; or take responsibility for eff ups. But there's a patented difference b/t someone OCCASIONALLY LYING, and a HABITUAL LIAR™ whose modus operandi is to willfully deceive, manipulate, gaslight, trick or con(trol). Louis is many things (good & bad); and no, he can't be relied on to tell the story straight, for many reasons (that are & aren't his fault). But the one huge factor differentiating his 1973 interview (a la the book) & his 2022 interview in Dubai is Louis' SINCERITY.

The whole premise of AMC!IWTV is that there are things Louis CANNOT REMEMBER about his past, no matter how hard he TRIES to remember. Back in S1 Jacob Anderson was fighting for his life not to spoil anything about S2, cuz by then he already knew that yes, Louis IS the problem with this whole recounting, cuz HIS MEMORY is the problem. How TF can you sit here tryna tell your life story when you don't even remember wtf happened!? ("You don't need a memoir, Louis. You need a hundred sessions of EMDR!") You're unreliable AF!

Rolin Jones specifically wanted the 1x7 image Louis presented of him & "the love of my life" Armand to look like the scene from The Graduate. There's ZERO CHEMISTRY with Loumand in this shot, cuz it's not REAL. It's FORCED, a PERFORMANCE, just like JA said Lou is always been forced to do: perform; presenting the cookie-cutter image of a man who's supposedly got all his crap together, when BTS he's a freaking wreck who doesn't even KNOW or love himself ("Who are you, Louis? If there was no me? If there was no him? Who would you be? What do you want? How're you gon' get there?").

And Loumand doubles-down on that fake AF performance in 2x2, cheesing & hamming it up as if they're the perfect Stepford Family. And Daniel calls that ish out immediately; "keep selling it;" cuz he's "built this way," to dismantle BS, and Louis KNOWS this, and WANTS it to happen. The person constantly tryna STOP them is ARMAND, (Daniel effing pounced in 2x5 to sort everything out while Armand was AWAY. Daniel realized what/who the REAL PROBLEM was!).

Lou called Daniel for a reason, to help him UNPACK the jumbled mess ("he's good at his job"), cuz Lou KNOWS something's wrong with the way he's telling the story. Lou KNOWS he's unreliable, that there's a very real problem with him, and that he needs HELP. Louis is not a LIAR™, he has AMNESIA. That does NOT make him the villain or the bad guy, or the one to point malicious ableist AF fingers at as a gotcha! every time it's repeatedly said that YES, Lou's NOT the most reliable source of information; cackling like hyenas when Dan asked if Lou's schizophrenic and totally missing how that's the crux of the matter: Louis is mentally unwell, and CANNOT process his traumas all by himself; for reasons that both ARE and also are NOT his fault.

And what's more is that Lou HATES himself--his Confession Booth monologue lays out everything he hates about himself and will continue to hate himself for, even for the things that legit aren't even his fault (Louis: "I failed my brother!" Father Matthias: "NO, son!"). Lou's suicidal & all-too-willing to accept & internalize the NEGATIVE things people who HATE him say ("maybe I am arrogant!"), or what people actively plotting AGAINST him say ("You should go with Lestat's version, for the book, I think. I'm sorry!").

Self-loathing is at the very core of The Vampire Chronicles, and precisely what Prince Lestat finally teaches the vampires to get rid of at the end if the book series: the self-destructive self-sabotaging tendencies rooted in self-loathing that led vampires like Nicki & Louis (AND Lestat) to kill themselves, rather than to seek help or help themselves get better & love & accept themselves. Accepting that they're vampires doesn't mean they have to act like soulless monsters--they DO have a soul/conscience & CAN/SHOULD take responsibility for their actions, esp. their effs up, to become BETTER.

Louis is the antihero of IWTV, but DANIEL is the actual hero. Louis couldn't save himself from any of the situations he was in; he needed HELP (Claudia in S1, Armand & Lestat in 2x7, Daniel in 2x8). Without Daniel getting Sam's script, Lou would've just accepted how "that's the end of it. There's nothing else;" assuming he finally had all the answers & everything was sorted out, when CHIIIIILE~! 💀Lou was still in the Sunken Place!

After Armand's seismic lies were exposed, Louis finally started "learning to live honestly" without the toxic sludge of literal mind control keeping him back anymore; and esp. without Armand's narrative spoonfed to him that Lestat hated him & wanted him dead.

1973 SanFran: lies on top of lies

The 1973 interview was a whole steaming crappy heap of lies Louis told Daniel but most importantly HIMSELF. Cuz the SEISMIC LIE Armand told him about "Banishment" had a ripple-effect, dominoe implications. If Armand saved Lou and NOT Lestat, that means Les must've really hated Lou and was fine with him being executed at the Trial. So Lou spiraled, thinking Les didn't love him (anymore?), and that Lou himself was an idiot for falling for what must've obvs been lies Les fed him the entire time about their oh-so-sacred "cord you cannot see, loving you with ALL of myself," if he could let that disgusting lynching happen and NOT save his "Companion Heart."

Louis SINCERELY WANTS to remember & give the more "nuanced portrait" about his life. But if the person at the center if his life is Lestat, and Lestat screwed him over, what does that mean about Louis' whole life? He picked the wrong person--he chose Lestat over Paul, over Claudia, over himself, and THIS is how Lestat treats him? No, Les must've manipulated TF outta him, he's the devil, Claudia was right that Les is the "Father of Lies!" What "love?! I bled him like a pig and waited for the death rattle!"

BUT!

Lestat was MORE than Louis' Maker. They really were companions. Their hearts beat in sync the way Lestat & Claudia's obvs NEVER did. Something MORE than the Vampire Bond tied them together. It WAS real. Right? Lestat did love him, right? So wtf? The math ain't mathin. ARMAND is the love of my life.

Right?....

That's not a LIAR. That's what a real library of CONFUSION looks like.

How do you think D.Angelo would react to D.kay?

(I know it literally couldn’t happen but due to some timely wimey stuff they get to meet)

D.Angelo was kept relatively in the dark about the secondary purpose of the androids created by his family's company. There would be an entire new level to his thoughts towards D.Kay if he knew they were an android with the directive to kill those who could not be saved from their emotions. If he had more time, D.Kay's father would've chosen a different vessel for his son's personality.

D.Angelo has very mixed feelings towards D.Kay - When he had first gotten sick, D.Angelo made it his goal to live on in the memories and hearts of those he loved. In a way, D.Kay is a method for him to carry on. He both wants D.Kay to exist because it'll soften the blow of his inevitable demise for a time, but he knows the android's existence will only hurt those he loves more in the long run.

D.Kay is not an exact one to one copy with D.Angelo. His personality was meshed with the fractions of the android's original code. Because of this, D.Angelo would settle his uneasiness towards them by viewing him as a younger brother.

D.Angelo was the type of person who could befriend nearly anyone- even himself.

Watching The Boys Season 3, naturally I have to write for him. I'm not finished with the Season so I'm trying to just talk about behavior.

Yandere! Benjamin/Soldier Boy Concept

Ben's a complicated and unpredictable individual, ever since he escaped being experimented on at least.

He's very out of touch with modern life, trying to show himself as a macho man.

He's almost a literal take on the 'Alpha Male' stereotype.

He comes off as an arrogant and selfish playboy, focusing on his own desires first.

His poor child is what helped make him this way.

It's made him view himself as disappointment and he has a negative view on affection and vulnerability.

He'll also have trouble falling for another due to him being told those he thought were interested in him weren't.

He can be rather volatile... literally.

He struggles with emotions and weakness, which explains his actions.

But even if he feels bad killing innocents... It doesn't excuse things he's done.

Since being released from Russia, he's mostly focused on personal desires.

Fighting, drugs, and more intimate vices.

Unfortunately, his obsession is going to deal with a lot when first meeting him.

You probably are working with Butcher, playing nice around the walking nuclear bomb.

Ben's intentions with you are probably... lewd at first.

He makes disturbing comments, often wanting alone time with you to show you how a real man can treat you.

You often excuse yourself, preferring to look into plans to catch Homelander off guard than entertain Ben's attempt to 'get some'.

Butcher would probably be cruel enough to suggest you give in to Ben, just to keep him behaved.

After all, the second that man gets worked up, a nuclear meltdown occurs.

You turn that down, disgusted by the idea of being used like that.

Ben doesn't seem to give up on pursuing you, claiming he likes you with some fire.

To you, you feel like you're just watching him to make sure he doesn't blow another block sky high.

While Ben originally just intends to get you in bed... The longer he's around you, he's intrigued.

He likes the challenge you bring.

Deep down, Ben does yearn to be loved.

He has always wanted attention since his father never gave it.

In ways he's quite similar to Homelander, his son.

They're both arrogant supes who want attention since they never got it when growing up.

Except... Ben isn't as psychopathic as John....

So while your first impressions of Ben are... disturbing.

He probably actually craves any sort of attention you give him.

Poor you is often trying to keep an eye on him with Hughie.

The dude is either high, drunk, or very... horny for lack of a better term.

Hughie ends up feeling horrible when Ben prattles on about how he could make you feel... how he could treat you...

That no other man in this generation can make you feel things like he can.

It's... It's all Boomer talk...

He's like a century old, after all.

Ben, when sober and not clambering for revenge, soon tries to be a gentleman for you.

He tries to lay the charm on thick, to prove himself to you despite his frustration.

He'd also often act like you need him.

He considers you weak... He says you need a strong man to protect you.

Ben also seems possessive due to his whole 'Alpha Wolf' mentality.

He's a violent man, often trying to be physical around you to show he has eyes on you.

It's things like an arm around you... him leaning against you... holding your hand... touching your thigh.

Even if you smack him away, he just returns.

Ben has never been one to be denied what he wants.

If he has his eyes on you, he's going to pursue you until he can make you swoon.

Ben despises being vulnerable, even with you.

In private he's always trying to ignore his want for you to love him genuinely.

Even if he manages to coax you into sleeping with him at least once... He wants it to feel like you love him.

When he's on some sort of substance, a bit of vulnerability peaks through when he's with you.

He insists on sharing your bed, perhaps even in a passionate moment he murmurs about needing you to support and care for him.

If you confront him, he denies it.

Yet deep down he's insecure... He's worried no one loves him.

So... drowning himself in you and vices is a way for him to cope.

Even if you're just doing it to keep him sated.

He's more needy than you'd think.

The man practically never leaves your side, often eying you like a craving he can't quite shake.

Sure, fine, maybe his last partner didn't love him...

Sure... maybe he tends to sleep around...

But this time, he's never wanted to keep someone to himself more than when he met you.

The rest of The Boys are so cautious around him... Butcher quietly remarking that Soldier Boy's like a bulldog around you.

You may just put up with him because he's needed to blast Homelander.

Yet Ben's managed to convince himself enough that you're into him?

Why else would you dress up so pretty?

Why else would you let him take you to bed?

You get in so deep that you actually hear Ben confess to you after your passionate moments.

He's never felt more alive than with you....

To him, it's like he doesn't consider that you may just be scared or using him.

Why would that be the reason?

Clearly you're just attracted to his macho....

Ben definitely marks you.

He bites your skin, growls that he's the only one who can please you.

You often try to hide such evidence, but everyone else already knows.

Ben killing people over you is a given.

Many of The Boys are on edge because he's glaring at them like he'll kill them.

Ben has remorse for killing innocents.

He does feel bad for nuclear blasting civilians due to his PTSD from his experimentation.

Yet... How innocent is a person if they're taking what he thinks belongs to him?

After all... If he feels he only has your body and your heart belongs to another...

Gone.

They're shot or their neck is broken... blood staining his suit.

You better get to calming him down despite your fear...

The second that Geiger counter starts going off, you need to get to work.

Honestly, there probably isn't a Supe who wouldn't get bloody for their obsession... Except maybe Starlight?

You're used to blood... Homelander makes a lot of it with his tantrums.

Yet it hurts more when Ben targets someone you love, coldly turning around as he demands why you don't love him.

Kidnapping... Well, I want to say yes to this?

He's probably find some way to lock you to his side so he can't lose you and force your love.

But it also reminds him of when HE was held against his will....

He doesn't like hurting you.

Yet he's desperate to feel some sort of love and attention.

Punishment? Yes. Yes he will.

It may sound weird, but Ben would probably spank his obsession?

He'd somehow make the whole thing oddly sexual too....

He has to be careful with his strength.

After all, he's a Supe....

Afterwards, when you're shaking, he holds you close to him with kisses to your head.

He'd train his obsession to be a house spouse, you just KNOW it....

He's been a playboy... but it's like he's genuinely trying to commit to you emotionally and physically.

He struggles but... He still wants to be better than his father.

He doesn't care if taking you away from The Boys betrays Butcher or not.

He doesn't like that man around you anyways.

Ben plans to kill Homelander one way or another.

Yet all that really matters to him as of now... is you.

You've been so good to him....

Even when he finds out it's not genuine love, he's quick to force you to change your tune.

He could blow at any moment....

When he holds you close, eyes full of betrayal.

You're quick to say you'll change... you'll love him... just... it'll take time.

He'll accept that... but to make sure of that.

He's going to remove you from anything else you love or care about.

You say you'll love him, huh?

Prove it then... He'll make you prove it... Even if it requires pushing aside remorse and making people red paste on the ground...

After all, who else will there be to love if he's all you have?

Wu trained Morro at the same time that Garmadon was training with Chen which MEANS that Misako was around to see what the pressure of wanting and training to be the Green Ninja could lead to.

So later when she had Lloyd and KNEW that he would be the legendary Green Ninja, do you think she thought of the child Wu had once trained? The kid who became so obsessed with proving himself that he put himself in danger time and time again? The little boy who ran off into the night and never came back?

After seeing that, is it any wonder why she didn't want to leave her son-- the actual Green Ninja-- to be trained by Wu at such a young age?

Maybe a boarding school for bad boys would never make him want to be a hero. Maybe it would keep him safe from the destructive power of destiny. Maybe Darkley's was the only way to save her beloved son, Lloyd Garmadon, from himself.

Maybe Misako remembered Morro. And maybe, just maybe, she knew it would be best if her son never turned into someone like that.
