honestly weird to me when people write about Jason like he just decided he didn't want to be/wasn't Bruce's son AFTER coming back and seeing Tim had 'replaced' him... when like... there's literally a panel pre-death where Bruce tells him (and I'm paraphrasing) "I'm not your father, I don't have time for this teenage rebellion"
like...? did Bruce mean it? No. Was it still immensely hurtful and probably one of the foundational building blocks of Jason beginning to believe that Bruce truly doesn't care for him like a son? YES.
Like no wonder he was so quick to believe Bruce didn't mourn him the way Jason mourned Bruce. No wonder he was so quick to believe that Tim was a chosen replacement. Before he died Bruce told him as much. On TOP of the whole situation with Garzonas.
Jason went to Ethiopia looking for a family. Not just out of curiosity. But because Bruce made Jason's place feel fragile, and he fucked up their father and son dynamic with that one freaking line.
is it not part of the main cannon? Is that why people don't reference it ever?

The best cdrama you probably haven't watched - Tribes and Empires Storm of Prophecy
Most of my airing cdramas are ending within the week and unless we get a lot of other good replacements, it means time to rewatch a favorite.
And this favorite? The sprawling, epic fantasy Tribes and Empires Storm of Prophecy. Tribes has a huge cast (one of criticisms I've seen leveled at it - but that is why I love it; it's epic in every sense of the world), but it centers around three very different men - Shaofeng Heye (Zhou Yiwei), a son of a murdered barbarian chief who will eventually lead the rebellion that tries to topple the empire, Muyun Sheng (Huang Xuan), a disregarded prince who is half-fae and whose mother was supposedly the emperor's great love who he mourns (the truth is so much darker and more complicated) and Muru Hanjiang (Shawn Dou), the cursed son of the chief general who was abandoned to live on the street due to prophecy. Sometimes they are allies, sometimes enemies, sometimes both at once.
Despite the huge budget, it was not a hit either in China or internationally - people complained about the slow pace, the large cast and the lack of ending (the drama is 70+ eps and tells only half the story.) I loved every second of it. I grew up reading Russian novels which were also sprawling, with a huge cast, deliberate pace and often lack of resolution at the end. Perhaps that is why the one audience where I think it was a hit was the Russian-speaking cdrama fandom (all the MVs I can find, btw, are made by Russian speakers.)
youtube
(The above is a gorgeous general MV)
Why do I love it? Other than the amazing visuals (it's directed by Cao Dun, all of whose dramas are genuinely stunning looking), there is the fact that it really feels like a window in a whole other world - epic and a little alien, complex, full of horror and beauty.
And there are the characters and the narrative. Because this drama does not hurry, it's not only the mains who get fleshed out - secondary and even tertiary characters are fully-fledged. Two of my favorite characters are emperor and empress - two intense monsters locked in an emotional cage with each other, clawing at others and themselves, as bystanders die.
This is a dark dark world - made before the censorship tightening up, there is none of that "tireless emperor ceaselessly working for the people" nonsense or even other character spouting about working for the greater good. The emperor and most of the imperial family are monsters, grasping for power, lives of people as ants to them. Some characters do have ideals but they are not glib or easy or fit within modern parameters. This is a narrative that starts with Shaofeng Heye's entire tribe being wiped out because of an act of kindness by a boy (and his tribe and other tribes are locked into a life death struggle for resources perpetually.) Blind loyalty to the crown is not viewed as a virtue - Muru Hanjiang's father is a monster for throwing his infant to die due to a prophecy that states he's a threat to the throne.
youtube
(another general MV)
Also, me being me, there are ships. There are a bunch, but my favorite is Muru Hanjiang x Su Yuning. She's a minor noblewoman picked to be a crown princess because her horoscope says that whoever she marries will be the ruler (interestingly, MHJ's prophecy that upended his life is that he will end the rule of the Muyun dynasty - clearly they are meant to marry at some point, heh) and she has no choice about it. Their love is glorious and largely unspoken and kinda doomed; the way the drama ends with her ditching literally EVERYTHING and following him and his clan to horrifying exile that might result in death (and even as he still tries to drive her away to protect her, she knows what he's doing and vows to wait for him) is glorious.
This MV for them is amazing:
youtube
I also loved Shaofeng Heye and Princess Muyun Yan Shuang. Not functional in the least but so hot!
youtube
(The third main OTP of the prince x spirit, I liked but not as much as these two.)
Anyway, this is my next rewatch.

911 show runner and writers do love their parallels. Season 4 episode 13 when the 118 save a mother dangling on the balcony of her apartment. At first glance it appears that it’s just a single mom trying to take care of her sick child. In reality it’s munchausen.
The parallel of Eddie, a single father who would literally do anything to help his actually sick son, who has cerebral palsy compared to this woman is well breath taking. He would start over in a brand new state without any help, with only an aunt and grandmother living nearby. But he chose Los Angeles as his son’s maternal grandmother and mother also lived nearby. He has hope to reunite his little nuclear family.
Eddie does everything he can in his power to make sure his son has the very best care and life. He has a wonderful aid whose like family. A coworker who’s become a family member in many ways. And many attempts, all with the best intentions to get his son, the mother he thinks he needs to provide a healthy household.
Eddie also helps the little boy whose mother is making him sick for attention, find family who take proper care of him and help him toheal.
Eddie and Buck’s journeys are also very intertwined. Is that on purpose?
Buck is also looking for someone to love him unconditionally, when his parents couldn’t pay attention to him unless he got hurt as they were grieving. And his sister who bandaged him up as long as she could. Both siblings in their own ways getting attention any way they could.
Both Buck and Eddie are longing for the same things. I just hope the show allows them to see it is in one another. Season 4 just felt so close. And reading at how a relationship almost did happen in season 4 or 5 but Fox wouldn’t allow it.
I just hope it’s in the cards very soon.

Stranger part 9
Tumblr media
Reader is Telemachus' friend, and when he leaves for his "diplomatic mission" he asks her to watch over his mother.
Later, once the king has returned, she stumbles upon an injured Poseidon.
Previous / series masterlist / next
☆☆☆
Content specs: she/her pronouns used, afab reader, Platonic! Telemachus x reader, Epic!Poseidon x reader, possible OOC!Poseidon, Polites’ daughter! Reader, unrequited love, blood, fighting, nudity, illusion, possibly more?, trying to avoid using y/n, slowburn, suggestive themes, English is not my first language, sorry if it's too much exposition, it's my first fic.
Ónoma literally means name in Greek, at least according to google translate. View this as the y/n of this fic.
☆☆☆
Every time Odysseus looked at his son’s friend, he was hit with a wave of guilt and grief. She looked so much like her father, the father he’d failed to protect, his greatest friend. Yet she was so different from him. Polites had not been around to teach her his ideals, and it showed, though, if he were to believe his son, she actually did hold the same sentiments as her father.
Then she’d said the same thing that wretched God had said when he drowned most of his fleet. Logically he knew that it wasn’t an uncommon ideology, it was one he’d learned to live by during his years at sea, but emotionally? He was sent back to the moment his comrades died, calling for him. It was all he saw as he screamed at the poor girl.
The guilt he felt the morning after was suffocating, she’d not deserved that. The girl was probably still mourning the, now confirmed, loss of her father. By the Gods he might have scared off his sons only friend.
It wasn’t until Ctimene showed up, that he snapped out of his spiral. She’d caught her brother pacing in the garden and had gone to him to comfort him and find comfort in his embrace. He both the last man to have seen her husband, and her big brother who’d always protected her when they were younger. His company made her feel safe.
☆☆☆
At the beach the two friends were still sat. Telemachus had not responded, for he had no answer to her question. As the sun started setting, and their stomachs started rumbling, the two were snapped out of their trance. They’d wasted the entire day sitting along the shore, basking in the comfort they found in each other.
“Shit, I was supposed to get some food from the market today.”
“We can just grab something from the kitchen.” Telemachus offered.
“I’d still have to bring something back from Perikles, Gods I didn’t even offer him breakfast.” Ónoma was mortified, she hadn’t been a very good host these past few days.
“Have you been home yet? I could just apologize on your behalf, say that we kept you away for longer than intended. Besides you probably had something at home for him to eat, right Peach?” Telemachus truly was the calm to her panic, and the noise to her quiet.
“You’re right, let’s hurry though, wouldn’t want your father to worry about your whereabouts, or your mother at that. Gods, remember when we were playing hide and seek, and she couldn’t find you?” All the prince responded with was a shudder. All of the guards had been tasked with finding the young prince, who’d been hiding under his bed. He hadn’t come out when his mother called, in fear of his friend finding him and losing the game. The earful the two had gotten had been something else.
☆☆☆
By the time Peach returned to her house, the sun had fully set. She’d been gifted an entire basket of leftovers from the palace kitchen, and a formal letter from the prince, who’d not been allowed to return with her.
The man had been lightly dozing when she’d entered. He’d eaten the food she’d left for him out of courtesy, but as a God had no real need to consume it. It was usually more of a luxury, eating only the finest of meals every once in a while. His host wasn’t a bad cook, but it was definitely not up to the standards of his more refined palette. When he saw the basket in her arms he almost groaned, not more of this grub, but when he heard it was from the palace kitchens, his mood lightened.
Finally, some luxury in this shed, though his host was quite amusing. He’d given no thought to what may have ticked her off, but she’d seemed to have forgotten about it too. Mortals. Whoever the royals of this island were, they were lucky. The palace cooks were definitely talented to say the least. Perhaps he’d visit, once he healed, any king would feel honoured to be visited by a God. Except for Odysseus, but what were the odds.
☆☆☆
Peach had in no way, shape, or form, missed the comforts of her bathtub, but she’d not been left much choice. She was glad that Perikles had not been angry at her absence. In the morning she’d been woken by the sounds outside her home. She’d quickly gotten dressed and went to investigate.
Outside were construction workers, sent by order of the prince. They’d been tasked with creating a temporary structure where she would be able to sleep and avoid her guest without having to be outside. She smiled at her friends antics and left the men to work.
Harvest season was upon them, which would quickly be followed by the cold months. With the harvest season, came a higher demand for her help, and with more demand for he help, came more need for rest. At the end of the day, she’d have an extra room where she could stay, but until then, she’d play the perfect host.
“How are you feeling today?” A grunt.
“Did you sleep well?” A sigh.
“Can I take a look at your wounds?” An actual reply.
“Sure.” Or at least, as close to a real reply she would get. This man only spoke to her whenever he felt like it. Most of the time it was to annoy or tease her, and it was infuriating, but she’d said she’s play the perfect host today, so she held her tongue.
Carefully she stepped closer and unwrapped the man’s bandages. She’d redone them after the bath fiasco, and he’d left them alone this time. The wounds were healing well, but there was some irritation, perhaps the sweat from his fever had caused it? She should wash the sheets soon anyway, why not today?
She gulped as she realized what the irritation implied. He needed to bathe again. To her horror, Perikles had also heard her gulp.
“Is it that bad? Or do you just like what you see?” The man teased. This was going to be another one of those days, huh?
☆☆☆
Peach was heating up some new water, while hanging the washed sheets to dry. She’d helped the man into one of her chairs and had given him some more leftovers for breakfast. It felt strangely domestic, bittersweet, caring for someone, doing household tasks for their benefit.
She’d be of marrying age next week, not that that was really a thing for women without status, but she’d been lucky. Her family had not exactly been nobility, but their close relationship with the royal family had granted them some status. She’d been extremely grateful when the queen ordered that she would be allowed to live alone as a young female orphan, rather than have to move in with some old sleazebag looking to make a wife out of a child.
As the water finished heating up she helped the man into the bathroom, he’d toned down on the teasing this time. She appreciated it, though she did not enjoy the teasing that still left the man’s lips.
“No one will know if you take a look, I wouldn’t mind.” He’d spoken with a smirk, a hand on her waist. “Perhaps you’d loosen up a bit if you-”
“Enough.” She’d said with a finality that shut the God up.
“Wait, is that what pissed you off?” Perikles snickered.
“No.”
“Oh, c’mon Peach won’t you tell me what I did wrong?” The way he’d said her nickname, felt like an insult, and the rest of the question didn’t feel sincere either.
“Where did you hear that?” She asked sharply.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”

A/N: I’m aware that Ctimene would technically live on Same, not on Ithaca, but for the story’s sake she lives on Ithaca. Perhaps she moved there when her husband went to war to be closer to her family.

Isn’t Hal jordan life just filled with propaganda? Grew up in a military household, joined the usaf, was a pilot for Ferris air(believe they tests military aircraft) and then joined the gl corps that’s basically just military propaganda in itself
Whew. Must suck to be him, buddy can’t catch a break
I don’t really think myself qualified to speak on this, but I’ve been thinking about this ask since I saw it.
To be fair, I think it could be argued that while Hal’s life is chock-full of military service, sometimes it can be interpreted as deconstruction rather than propaganda--although the hotshot Top Gun way he’s written post-Johns can totally feel propagandistic at times.
Tumblr media
Like, look at this variant cover. I feel more patriotic already.
Post-Johns, Hal’s father Martin Jordan was portrayed more positively than he had been previously, (notably, that he wasn’t either physically abusive or particularly dismissive of Hal versus his brothers). Another thing: Emerald Dawn suggests--and it is also emphasized in Green Lantern: Sleepers book three--that Martin purposefully did not eject from the test plane because he would rather die a pilot than eject, leaving his wife a widow and his three sons orphans. So, arguably, the Top Gun bravado that Hal is so infamous for now, has been criticized from the beginning of Hal’s life.
And the possibly military propaganda of the Green Lantern Corps is something I’ve been thinking about since I became a GL fan. It’s either a highly militarized police force or a policing military force, which...does not feel good either way. And where do the Guardians get the authority to police the universe anyway? Power should come to rulers from those they rule, right?
Honestly, I kinda liked that the Corps was shown as corrupt for a while in iirc Geoff Johns’ run, with the Guardians allowing lethal force against the Sinestro Corps and later any enemy of the Corps, and then altogether scheming to get rid of the Corps from the inside out? I thought it was really, really interesting. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, right? We kinda saw that with Sinestro, and with Parallax, etc.
But, because this is superhero comics and we tend to want our superheroes to be good guys, I do think about possible ways the Corps can be characterized as less of a police force. For one thing, I think we should get rid of the Guardians and reinstate John Stewart as Corps leader. The Guardians literally cause, like, half of the Corps’ problems, either directly or indirectly. For another thing, I would love for the Corps to perhaps be more akin to firefighters than police, if that makes sense? Put more emphasis on saving people from natural disasters or, like, space pirates, or traffickers, I don’t know.
I’ve heard it said that the Corps could just be a really big team of superheroes instead of a military, but I do think if we get rid of the military aspect entirely, we’re...kinda losing out on some of the aesthetic appeal? And, yeah, I know I know, the whole “you are not immune to propaganda” meme. Military is all about discipline (at least, the ideal of it), and the willpower of a Green Lantern is very closely related to discipline.
So...this answer got out of hand. Yeah Hal cannot catch a break, sorry buddy.

well now that youve mentioned &team and hogwarts...can we please have more headcanons about them in hogwarts 😽
Gryffindor!K Head Cannons 🧙🏻‍♂️
WC: 868
TW: Smut is implied at the end, dabbles a lot in self worth, not really triggering in my opinion but if I forgot anything let me know!
A/N: I honestly feel bad because this is a lot longer than Nicholas’s, honestly some might be longer than others, that doesn’t mean I love any of them less it’s just some I have more thoughts with and more words coming out tbh. Also I'm answering Ks under this request, I will be working and posting the others separately as well! Also this is just my opinion on what houses I think each member would be, please don't attack me if you think otherwise, but I am always open for conversations about it if you think otherwise!
Gryffindor!K includes~
Has a brown Owl as his pet companion
His happiest memory is when he went on a father and son trip, where he grew the closest with his father.
His patronus is an Abraxan Winged Horse: Means Dominant, Powerful, Strong Leader
The Boggart in Professor Lupin's class turns into him but it’s him failing or losing.
The Head Boy of Gryffindor
One of the most valuable quidditch player being the seeker with how fast he was
Throws some of the most wildest parties
Is friends literally everybody
Is considered to be the IT boy not only in his grade but in the entirety of Hogwarts
Is always hard on himself, Has to be the top of the top. Comes across as having a huge ego, but in reality he’s actually sensitive and insecure. Always worried if he’s going to fail.
Concerned with how others view him, if he’s not thought of to be this amazing strong person it’ll put him in a spiral
That’s why he was so confused when he met the girl who could care less about how others perceive her.
How she’s always just running around, being her too authentic self, wearing whatever she pleases. Even adding weird and cute accessories to her uniform.
She says whatever is on her mind, never holding back. Always asking himself how the fuck does she do it. Amazed by how free she looks.
Wanting to befriend said girl, but gets stuck in his head, wondering if she’ll even want to be friends with someone like him.
But gets paired with her in deviations class to read each other's tarots.
When reading the cards Kei struggles, as deviations are not his strong suit, but the way she reads his without any issues when Professor Trelawney called upon her to read his outloud. Feeling content with his reading as she said he was a strong, reliable person, and that he has good fortune in the future.
But gets caught off guard when she approaches him after class, just to tell him that he needs to be less hard on himself. And once he accepts himself as he is and stops caring about others is when he’ll be able to soar high.
He stands there stunned, watching her leave as if what she said didn’t just have a huge impact on him.
Finds himself trying to talk to her more and more but failing
Gets the courage to pull her away to somewhere where it’s only him and her after he won the Quidditch match against Slytherin. Just to ask her what she meant by her words that day.
Gets surprised when she says his cards showed that he was stuck, that he was trying too hard to keep up with others' expectations for him. And that they showed that if he continued worrying about them then he’ll continue feeling the way he was and he would never achieve true happiness. But if he breaks through it, and focuses on what he wants for himself he would have a happier outcome.
Forms a strong friendship with her after that night, always going to her when things got rough, and for advice. Finding comfort in her especially with the fact that she didn’t care about all the things the others did. That she was happy with any achievement he made, mostly with the ones he was looking forward to the most.
Who also has a major panic attack when his team loses because of him, falling into a spiral of questioning his self worth. But found peace when she held him, and showed him that he was still lovable even when he failed. And that losing wasn’t going to damage his shine, that instead it proved him to be human.
Finds himself falling for her, and needing her in his life as she shined light on his darkest thoughts.
Who now wants to impress her more than anything, who wants to make only her proud of him.
But finds himself also growing jealous when she encourages and shows interest in others. Especially when she boosts up others and shows pride in others.
Making him question if she even means what she says to him since she says it to everyone. But won’t ever say it as he deems it as him being toxic for only wanting her attention on him.
But shows through his actions, always having to one up the other person she just praised. And always has to show off hoping her attention will switch back to him.
Gets angry when it doesn’t and starts a fight because of it, but feels bad when he sees how exhausted she is.
Comes to the realization that even though she is always encouraging others and praising them, no one has ever taken time to do the same for her.
Who appears at her dorm eyes red and cheeks stained from the tears, and pulls her into a tight hug. Apologizing for everything and admitting he was just jealous.
Who eventually confesses to her that he only wants her, and pushes her back into her dorm to show how much he really does love her and how much she truly means to him.

Oh my…
Well, Killi-baby would definitely be scared of Biddy.
Let's just say he's old enough, like those senior citizens dogs who literally don't know what to do when their owners bring a baby into the house.
Plus he doesn't get paid enough to be a glorified flame-throwing baby stroller. Nope.
He's not ready to do that whole night-flight thing again to put fussy babies to sleep or spontaneous vomiting on his back upon landing. Definitely staying away from Biddy until she can count to 100 would be great for him.
But Balinor?
Balinor! This is too entertaining!
I can literally imagine him going something like this!
Balinor, meeting Merlin: Oh! my sweet boy! I'm a father!!! squishes him because he has to catch up on all the affection he wants to give his son Couldn't this get any better?
Arthur, literally carrying Biddy in an improvised baby carrier: I'm glad you took the news of your fatherhood well… because you're a grandfather too! Meet Brigitta, she's an adorable little girl-
Balinor, looking completely scared at Merlin: Oh God! I knew that the lack of a father figure affected young people, but how is it that you're a father?! You're barely a baby!!! squishes him even harder Don't worry my son, you won't be taking care of my dear granddaughter alone anymore. Forget about her other father and we'll be able to-
Merlin: I'm not a baby! Biddy is! tries to get out of Balinor's suffocating embrace Besides, I'm not taking care of her alone! Arthur helps me! His position as crown prince of Camelot has us well protected!
That was enough to cause his near cardiac arrest. Because Balinor will be able to accept that he is a father and grandfather in less than an hour, that his son is a teenage father and that the baby's mother is not in the picture… But that Uther's son is raising his granddaughter and trying (because it is too obvious) to court his son?
That he will not accept!
If it were not for the fact that he already saw how the old dragon does not like babies, he would take his beloved son and granddaughter to flee Camelot and seek better lands in that very moment.
He still knows of some noble houses who have sons of matchmaking age who would make better husbands and stepfathers for his Merlin and Biddy.
First I wanted to say hello and tell you that I love your works. They really have me on the edge of my seat every time I read them.
Second. Can you imagine that Merlin, in some new alternative universe, for some reason, upon arriving in Camelot, arrives with a baby? It's all still a Merthur ending, it should be noted.
Like, we know that Merlin was already a bit of an outcast in the village for the reason that nobody knew who his father was and even more so because strange things were always happening around him.
The situation gets much worse when he finds a crying baby in the middle of a burnt tent near the village.
Will and his mother try to help him for a while, but with the visits of the evildoers to the village becoming more and more frequent, Merlin and the baby have no choice but to go to Camelot.
And so the adventures begin!
Only now Arthur wonders if they can make crowns for babies, because he is willing to marry Merlin and legally adopt the baby as his own.
And Morgana… well, she and Gwen enjoy dressing up the baby in all the clothes from her old dolls. Not to mention that she notices that by taking naps with the baby she no longer has nightmares.
The knights become, in some way or another, glorified nannies. The servants and maids must chase after a baby who never stops causing mischief in the castle.
And Merlin just wants to survive colic season and potty train his baby… and everything would be easier if there weren't a murderer or a resentful wizard trying to kill Arthur every 3 minutes.
First, thank you so much for the compliments! 🥹🤧❤️
About the concept. I love it! I don't think going to Camelot to live would be Merlin or Hunith's first option for a baby that can't control their magic at all. So I firmly believe Hunith would send Merlin with the baby there so Gaius can take them to a druid camp so they could take refuge there.
The problem is, before Gaius can do so, Merlin is made the prince's personal manservant. Merlin can't exactly deny the king and he does need the money to take care of his baby so he decides to stay to Gaius dismay. Gaius and Merlin try to keep the baby hided at first so they take turns taking care of her (in my mind is a her) in Gaius' tower in secret. It works out for some weeks but then the plague (Nimueh's Afanc) happens and Arthur searches Gaius' tower.
Arthur: (enters Merlin's room) Merlin: (running inside) Arthur, wait! Baby: (sitting on the bed, looks up at Arthur and gives a cute giggle) Arthur: (Turns to Merlin slowly) Merlin? Merlin: Yeah? 😅 Arthur: Why is there a baby in your bed? Merlin: (in panic, shouts the first thing that comes to his mind) She is mine! Arthur: ... Arthur: What? 😧 Merlin: (repeats more quietly but more firmly) She is mine. (runs to hold her up and embraces her) She is my daugther. Arthur: (thinking) But... but he is so young. (says) Where's the mother? Merlin: (with pain as he remembers the burnt tent) She passed away. Arthur: (his heart hurting for Merlin) I'm so sorry. But Gods Merlin, why didn't you tell me? I wouldn't have given you so many chores if I knew... (thinking) And I almost sacked you. I almost sacked a single father with a baby in arms! (says) And why the hell are you hiding her? Merlin: I... wasn't sure if I could keep her. Arthur: Of course you can keep her! What kind of master do you think I am? Knight x: (from outside) Sire? Arthur: (shouts back) In a minute! (to Merlin) What's her name? Merlin: Brigitta. Arthur: (repeats softly and smiles) Brigitta.
From then on, Arthur doesn't give Merlin as many chores and raises his salary considerably. And then everybody else finds out about Briggitta and go "I've only met Brigitta for a day and a half, but if anything happened to her, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself".
Some events would change, obviously, and some would remain the same but with a new perspective. I don't think Merlin would have time to make Lancelot a fake seal, for example, having to look after Brigitta and all. I can imagine Lancelot becoming Brigitta's first unnofficial babysiter, then Arthur makes it official so poor Lancelot has a salary and a place to stay in Camelot. The Poisoned Chalice episode would remain the same, except Arthur would be more in panic mode and desperate because MERLIN HAS A DAUGHTER! BRIGITTA CAN'T LOSE HER FATHER TOO!
I think it would be The Beginning of the End where Arthur and Morgana find out about Brigitta's magic and Merlin's magic. Not because they discovered her, surprisingly, but Merlin decided to tell them all the truth about her and himself after seeing how they saved Mordred. Also, since Merlin saw Brigitta's possible future in Mordred, he wants to leave Camelot too to keep her safe. Screw all what the dragon told him about destiny, his daugther comes first.
So Merlin and Brigitta are about to leave with Mordred with the druids. They are having a heartfelt goodbye with Arthur, who scorted them there, but then...
Brigitta: (cries very loudly in Merlin's arms and the earth starts shaking a bit) Merlin: I know, I know, baby, but we have to go. Brigitta: (cries more loudly and extends her little arms to Arthur) Arthur: (barely containing his tears) I'll miss you too, Biddy. But this is the best for you- Brigitta: ATHU! 😭 Arthur: (open his eyes wide) What did she just said? Brigitta: (still crying and making grabby hands at him) ATHU, ATHU, ATHU! 😭 Arthur: (tears roll down his eyes) She said my name... Merlin, she said my name! (grinning widely) Let me hold her one more time, please! Merlin: (gives Brigitta to Arthur) Druid leader: (urgently) We need to leave now! Merlin: (looking at Arthur and Brigitta tenderly and smiles) Leave, we'll stay.
I also can imagine Nimueh going after Brigitta's life instead of Hunith, and having to confront not only a very furious Merlin, but a feral protective prince.
That's how far my imagination can go. If you have any ideas of how Merlin and Arthur or other character would act in other episodes now with Brigitta in the equation, share it in the comments or reblogs. I'll be happy to read you 🥰

Wu trained Morro at the same time that Garmadon was training with Chen which MEANS that Misako was around to see what the pressure of wanting and training to be the Green Ninja could lead to.
So later when she had Lloyd and KNEW that he would be the legendary Green Ninja, do you think she thought of the child Wu had once trained? The kid who became so obsessed with proving himself that he put himself in danger time and time again? The little boy who ran off into the night and never came back?
After seeing that, is it any wonder why she didn't want to leave her son-- the actual Green Ninja-- to be trained by Wu at such a young age?
Maybe a boarding school for bad boys would never make him want to be a hero. Maybe it would keep him safe from the destructive power of destiny. Maybe Darkley's was the only way to save her beloved son, Lloyd Garmadon, from himself.
Maybe Misako remembered Morro. And maybe, just maybe, she knew it would be best if her son never turned into someone like that.

honestly you would think Rayleigh gave birth to shanks the way they are just exactly the same person right down to their alcoholism, penchant for scheming love of sandals and other generally horrible fashion items.
In a world where Mihawk meets Shanks first, he later goes to challenge old man Rayleigh and it all starts to click into place. like "oh you're the reason I'm stuck with that" point to Shanks wearing an outfit a pattern blind person put togther.

Can I be honest with everyone a second? I honestly think that every instance used to justify calling Dick Grayson the “angry robin” is him being justifiably mad at something that would make anyone who was put in the situation mad.

"Among their complaints [in 1460, the Yorkists] specifically blamed the earls of Wiltshire and Shrewsbury and Viscount Beaumont for ‘stirring’ the king [Henry VI] to hold a parliament at Coventry that would attaint them and for keeping them from the king’s presence and likely mercy, asserting that this was done against [the king's] will. To this they added the charge that these evil counselors were also tyrannizing other true men* without the king’s knowledge. Such claims of malfeasance obliquely raised the question of Henry’s fitness as a king, for how could he be deemed competent if such things happened without his knowledge and against his wishes? They also tied in rumors circulating somewhat earlier in the southern counties and likely to have originated in Calais that Henry was really ‘good and gracious Lord to the [Yorkists] since, it was alleged, he had not known of or assented to their attainders. On 11 June the king was compelled to issue a proclamation stating that they were indeed traitors and that assertions to the contrary were to be ignored." - Helen Maurer, "Margaret of Anjou: "Queenship and Power in Late Medieval England"
Three things that we can surmise from this:
We know where the "Henry was an innocent helpless king being controlled and manipulated by his Evil™ advisors" rhetoric came from**.
The Yorkists were deliberately trying to downplay Henry VI's actual role and involvement in politics and the Wars of the Roses. They cast him as a "statue of a king", blamed all royal policies and decisions on others*** (claiming that Henry wasn't even aware of them), and framed themselves as righteous and misunderstood counselors who remained loyal to the crown. We should keep this in mind when we look at chronicles' comments of Henry's alleged passivity and the so-called "role reversal" between him and Queen Margaret.
Henry VI's actual agency and involvement is nevertheless proven by his own actions. We know what he thought of the Yorkists, and we know he took the effort to publicly counter their claims through a proclamation of his own. That speaks louder than the politically motivated narrative of his enemies, don't you think?
*There was some truth to these criticisms. For example, Wiltshire (ie: one of the men named in the pamphlet) was reportedly involved in a horrible situation in June which included hangings and imprisonments for tax resistance in Newbury. The best propagandists always contain a degree of truth, etc. **I've seen some theories on why Margaret of Anjou wasn't mentioned in these pamphlets alongside the others even though she was clearly being vilified during that time as well, and honestly, I think those speculations are mostly unnecessary. Margaret was absent because it was regarded as very unseemly to target queens in such an officially public manner. We see a similar situation a decade later: Elizabeth Woodville was vilified and her whole family - popularly and administratively known as "the queen's kin" - was disparaged in Warwick and Clarence's pamphlets. This would have inevitably associated her with their official complaints far more than Margaret had been, but she was also not directly mentioned. It was simply not considered appropriate. ***This narrative was begun by the Duke of York & Warwick and was - demonstrably - already widespread by the end of 1460. When Edward IV came to power, there seems to have been a slight shift in how he spoke of Henry (he referred to Henry as their "great enemy and adversary"; his envoys were clearly willing to acknowledge Henry's role in Lancastrian resistance to Yorkist rule; etc), but he nevertheless continued the former narrative for the most part. I think this was because 1) it was already well-established and widespread by his father, and 2) downplaying Henry's authority would have served to emphasize Edward's own kingship, which was probably advantageous for a usurper whose deposed rival was still alive and out of reach. In some sense, the Lancastrians did the same thing with their own propaganda across the 1460s, which was clearly not as effective in terms of garnering support and is too long to get into right now, but was still very relevant when it came to emphasizing their own right to the throne while disparaging the Yorkists' claim.
#henry vi#my post#wars of the roses#margaret of anjou#Look I’m not trying to argue that Henry VI was secretly some kind of Perfect King™ whose only misfortune was to be targeted by the Yorkists#That is...obviously pushing it and obviously not true#Henry was very imperfect; he did make lots of errors and haphazard/unpopular decisions; and he did ultimately lose/concede defeat#in both the Hundred Years War and the subsequent Wars of the Roses.#He was also clearly less effective than his predecessor and successor (who unfortunately happened to be his father and usurper respectively#and that comparison will always affect our view of his kingship. It's inevitable and in some sense understandable.#But it's hardly fair to simply accept and parrot the Yorkist narrative of him being a “puppet of a king”.#Henry *did* have agency and he was demonstrably involved in the events around him#From sponsoring alchemists to issuing proclamations to participating in trials against the Yorkists (described in the 1459 attainder)#We also know that he was involved in administration though it seems as though he was being heavily advised/handheld by his councilors#That may be the grain of truth which the Yorkists' image of him was based on.#But regardless of Henry's aptitude he was clearly *involved* in ruling#Just like he was involved in plots against Yorkist rule in the early 1460s before he was captured.#And he did have some successes! For example in 1456 he travelled to Chester and seems to have been responsible#for reconciling Nicholas ap Gruffyd & his sons to the crown and granting them a general pardon.#Bizarrely Ralph Griffiths has credited Margaret for this even though there is literally no evidence that she was involved.#We don't even know if she travelled with Henry and the patent rolls offering the pardon never mention her.#Griffiths seems to have simply assumed that it was Margaret's doing because of 1) his own assumption that she was entirely in control#while Henry was entirely passive and 2) because it (temporarily) worked against Yorkist interests.#It's quite frustrating because this one of the most probable examples we have of Henry's own participation in ruling in the late 1450s#But as usual his involvement is ignored :/#Also all things considered:#The verdict on Henry's kingship may not have been so damning if his rule hadn't been opposed or if the Lancastrians had won the war?#Imo it's doubtful he would be remembered very well (his policies re the HYW and the economic problems of that time were hardly ideal)#but I think it's unlikely that he would have been remembered as a 'failed king' / antithesis of ideal kingship either#Does this make sense? (Henry VI experts please chime in because I am decidedly not one lol)
