After reading some comics about Iron Man, it seems he has a hard time developing a real relationship with a partner. He sleeps around a-lot, I think he might be a male nympho, like it seems he's addicted to sex. I was surprised in the last issue of Invincible iron man (#527) during the panel where he has some escort in his tub, what's funnier was when Pepper walked in and somehow the escort was able to hold her breath and hide underwater, I feel writers are unable develop and write him correctly

I’m trying to think of a way to put this that’s not “that’s because you’re reading Matt Fraction’s run” but... that’s because you’re reading Matt Fraction’s run.

Okay. So the thing about most fandoms is that canon is canon, and it’s very clear what is and is not canon. And it’s possible to watch a movie, or watch a TV show, or read a trilogy of novels and come away with a coherent picture of what the characters are like. Any given canon is usually made by a particular person or relatively small group of people, and it’s usually made over a relatively short span of time -- even the longest-running TV shows and the most-delayed book series don’t usually take, oh, more than 10 or 20 years at the most. I mean, there are exceptions, but for the most part, most canons are a snapshot of the era that they were made in (in terms of the values and attitudes that are reflected) and they have few enough hands in them that characters can stay relatively consistent.

This is not at all what comics fandom is like.

Marvel Comics have been made over decades and decades -- starting in the early 60s for modern Marvel, or the 40s if you’d like to count Timely Comics and Captain America -- and by hundreds if not thousands of different people. The people who are making them now are not the people who started making them. They’re not the people who invented the characters or the universe. And the values and beliefs and general societal attitudes that they are reflecting right now are not the ones that they were made with, actual generations ago.

And the fun thing about Marvel Comics is that everything is canon. Unlike DC, there have been no line-wide reboots. If you’re reading a comic from 1963, whatever happened in that comic is still considered to be true unless a later comic has deliberately contradicted it. So it’s all true. But at the same time, it also isn’t all true -- the characters are not aging at the same rates at which the comics are published, Tony’s origin story has now been set in something like four different countries, I no longer have any idea who Wanda and Pietro’s parents are, and so on and so forth. So the current writers basically pick what they want to be true and work from there. And they sometimes end up making radically different choices in characterization because that’s what they feel is the best way to modernize the character. So what you end up with is a bunch of things that are theoretically all true but in practice cannot really all coexist.

And sometimes fandom looks at canon and says, “We don’t like that change. Many of us don’t think it’s consistent with the established characterization. So we’re either not going to think about that part or we’re going to figure out a way to explain it that fits better with what has come before, that makes us happier.”

So Fraction’s Iron Man run is one of those points of contention. There are some things about it that pretty much everyone in fandom is going to accept, because it’s hard not to, because of the radical changes that are made -- say, the brain deletion in World’s Most Wanted. As far as I know no one writes fanfiction and pretends that Tony still remembers Civil War.  I’m not talking about fixits where he gets the memories back -- I mean saying, “Nope, that didn’t happen.” Fandom certainly could. But they pretty much don’t. And there are some things that much of fandom would prefer to gloss over -- like, the fact that Tony sleeps around. And I don’t think it’s the case that people are doing this because, say, they personally disapprove of this behavior -- they’re doing this because they don’t think it fits with the extant characterization of Tony.

Let’s say you’ve got, oh, fifty years of canon where Tony’s attitude toward relationships can basically be summed up as serial monogamy. Sure, he’s dated a lot of people, but he’s also been around a long time -- he’s had enough time to have a lot of committed relationships. And as far as I can tell, he was pretty serious about everyone he was with -- or at the very least, he wasn’t out there having one-night stands. He’s been engaged. He’s clearly out there looking for love. And then you’ve got maybe ten years of canon, starting with Matt Fraction’s run, where Tony really starts sleeping around.

So, both of these things are canon. But which do you believe? Do you believe in the older characterization, because that was the original conception of the character? Because it’s been the characterization for longer? Does that make it more true? Or do you support the newer characterization because that’s what Marvel wants the character to be now? Or do you find some way to reconcile them? I mean, you could. If you asked me how I’d make it make sense, I might say something like: “Tony’s behavior in this run is markedly unlike his previous behavior and I attribute that to his feelings about his declining public reputation after Civil War and Fear Itself, as well as his now-canonically-stated depression; perhaps he feels that he isn’t deserving of love or long-term relationships at this point, and he’s deliberately seeking out casual sex, possibly partly as a form of self-harm and partly as a way of attempting to alleviate his depression.”

Now, you might not buy that particular explanation, and you are totally free to come up with one you like better, but you get what I’m doing, right? I’m trying to come up with a way that makes what we have now make sense with everything we had before.

Or, you know, we can all just write fanfiction set in volume 3 and pretend everything after never happened. I’ve never done that before and I have no idea what you’re talking about. Ha.

So if you say to me “I think Tony’s addicted to sex” I’m probably going to say something like “I can see how you’d say that about Matt Fraction’s IM run but I don’t think that’s in character for Tony as a whole and here’s why.” And then I might talk about, say, how he does not display this behavior at other times in canon and maybe mention some of the many people he was very serious about. Rumiko Fujikawa. Bethany Cabe. Whitney Frost. You get the idea.

I hope that makes some kind of sense.

Mitsuru: “Tadaaah~! It’s ‘Treasure Appraisal’!”

“It’s my turn now, right? I’ve brought a mysterious DVD for mine!”

Mitsuru: “There’s no sticker on it, what’s the video about?”

Tetora: “I have no idea, which is why it’s called mysterious. The data was corrupted so I couldn’t check what’s in it一”

“However! The program’s staff hired a specialist to restore its data!”

“A never-before-seen mysterious DVD of the Nagumo family is about to be revealed! I haven’t watched it myself either so I’m looking forward to it~!”

Shinobu: “Wow… This seems to be filmed on a Sports Day. Judging by the atmosphere, is this in a primary school?”

Nazuna: “...Eh? Didn’t that kid just now look like Tetora-chin?”

“This is just a ninjutsu scroll I found at an old bookstore last year. The owner mentioned that it was from the Sengoku period but…”

“It doesn’t have a date anywhere on it so I’m not confident it’s true. That’s why I brought it with me, since I wanted an expert’s opinion.”

“The result of the appraisal is inside this envelope. Nito-dono, would you do the honors of reading it?”

Nazuna: “Yup, gotcha. Lemme see… The result of the appraisal is一”

“It’s apparently a replica, but this scroll is still a hundred years old.”

Tetora: “Umyu~ That’s too bad, Shinobu-kun.”

Shinobu: “Yeah, a little. But it’s still from the Taisho era. It was still a long time ago compared to when I was born, so I’d still consider it valuable.”

“I’ll continue to take care of it! Thank you for the appraisal ♪”

Wanted to ask about beetlelyds, sorry, I thought it was technically cannon? Like in the old comics after the show ended she grew up and married him. Sorry I’m an old school fan and have no idea why this whole thing is such a big deal. Wasn’t the actor like 20 too? I’m sorry if I sound very dumb. I’m not used to this new tumblr.

first of all the biggest issue faced in the whole what is and is not canon debate is the fact that there are three (four if you count the limited comics run) publicized iterations of my media

i will go over each very briefly just kidding this is going to a long answer so i will spare the dashboard with a readmore

there is the movie which im sure you dont need me to explain the plot since youre an old school fan but basically the climax is that yes beetlejuice does go for the marriage angle in exchange for stopping the exorcism of adam and barbara and his motive for this is so that he can cause as much chaos as he wants on the mortal coil but his plan is thwarted when barbara rides a sandworm into the house which promptly eats beetlejuice sending him to bureaucratic death limbo

the end of the movie features the deetz and the maitlands happily living together with lydia havign a new appreciation for her situation and beetlejuice gets his head made real small which is very funny haha 

so no in the movie they are not canon editors note the actress who played lydia winona ryder was a teenager while filming the movie she turned 17 the year it released 

the next is the cartoon which i will admit has the most grounds for being considered canon but in the end the show is about a middle schooler and her best friend who is a ghost which in itself is a pretty iffy gray area sort of thing but for a childrens cartoon to work a friendship is better than the obvious enemy status they held in the movie

anyway in the cartoon they are potrayed to be very close friends with lydia being the person beetlejuice cares about the most and honestly if you were to watch it with no prior knowledge of the media and if you ignored their massive and obvious age difference than yeah you probably would read it as a romantic relationship 

however lydia is a middle schooler and that is simply immoral

there have been writers for the cartoon who have been credited to say that a relationship is what they were trying to invoke but for obvious reasons they couldnt exactly move forward with that angle with them establishing that lydia is a child in middle school and a fully grown adult man dating a child who is in middle school is immoral and also illegal in the united states and in canada 

this isnt a good argument for whether or not something is canon and i will tell you why with one simple name and that is luke weber

if you dont know who luke weber is he was a storyboard artist on the cartoon steven universe he is known for making a lot of self ship artwork of him and the character pearl

he worked on the show isnt his material canon no of course it isnt it wasnt put in the actual publication and also if memory serves he was eventually asked to leave the project after he drew art of the shows creator giving him permission to date pearl and calling them her otp and a lot of fans hated this because the most generally accepted interpretation of pearls character is that she is sapphic so a lot of people took issue however that again is just a widely perceived headcanon it is never stated what her actual sexuality is no one in that show is because it isnt a show about that its about wait im getting off topic sorry

what im saying is what can truly be considered canon is what you see on the screen and with the cartoon they are definitely the most friendly with each other and that is why so many people in the beetlebabe shipping community take so much stock in the cartoon because it is the easiest to read the relationship between the mas romantic although that is not what the show actually provides in black and white terms

interpretation does not equal canon and in this case no matter what anyone says the fact remains that in the cartoon itself they are friends good friends yes but friends all the same

it is definitely not a show about a grown man grooming an adult and if it were you definitely shouldn’t be stanning it the extreme because grooming a minor is wrong and it is apparently a problem in the fandom

anyway if the cartoon and the movie are both products of their time and there was more leniency on content bear in mind this was the same era as notorious animation powerhouse and known predator john k who was a showrunner on ren and stimpy and he maintained a relationship with a teenager which was an open secret that nobody really took issue with because in that time being a woman in the animation industry was tricky business and your career could be ended easily if you rejected advances luckily time has moved forward and the animation industry although still full of problems of a similar nature at least people are getting called out and punished for it

you can look more into that yourself its really upsetting though

as for comics i havent been able to find good scans of them and im not willing to purchase them but in my search i never found anything about the two of them ever being married in the cartoon again because she is a child i did find a cover where he appears to be getting married and hes asking lydia to get him out of it but im not sure where the comic actually goes all i know is she is standing off to the side shrugging and looking like she doesnt really care

anyway that brings us to the musical which is set in the modern day 

in the original libretto lydia is described as thirteen but since they got an actress who was older in the updated librettos she is listed as 15 and the story is pretty similar to the movie the young girl befriends ghosts and they try to scare her family out etc etc

the major difference between the film and the musical are that lydia and beetlejuice are more like friends like in the cartoon 

she summons him to help scare after the maitlands attempt doesnt really work so he shows up and they have fun terrorizing people together however she drops him for the opportunity to perhaps get her mom back but when no one will help she goes back to beetlejuice who tricks her into almost exorcising barbara

she agrees to marry him in order to stop the exorcism and he only wants to get married so he can be alive again and cause problems on the mortal coil like in the movie in the musical he states several times its a green card thing whihc obviously doesnt make it okay but still

anyway lydia tricks him and runs off into the underworld before the wedding can happen blah blah blah she goes back blah blah and she agrees to go through with the wedding to save her friends and family with a plan to make him go away for good

theres a very tongue and cheek song called creepy old guy which points out how wrong the whole thing is but everyone is going along with it in a very comedic matter and it includes the line 

i cant believe some cultures think this kind of things alright

basically saying yeah this is very very wrong anyway they do get married and beeltjeuice is alive for like 6 seconds before lydia stabs him to death with bad art and he dies thus nullifying the marriage because death do you part etc

so in the musical no at the end of the show they are not canon because he is dead their marriage is nullified and they go their separate ways

anyway sorry about that i just need to make it very clear that these three properties are all very distinct from each other and basically all three are indeed canon since they are publicized material and arguing the validity of which one is pointless editors note all actresses who played with the exception of dana steingold were minors for the majority of their runs as lydia with sophia ann caruso the originator of the role turning 18 during the run and dana being in her late twenties presley ryan however was a minor the whole time and still is one

tldr no they aren’t canon but to the credit of some people in this fandom their interpretation isnt too far of a stretch thanks to the era and some of the writers wishing to imply a relationship between an adult and a child

the beetlejuice fandom is home to many minors after the musical came out since musical fandom is vast and the ages of its members varies and normalizing pedophilia is harmful to them not to mention the people who have been effected by sexual harassment at the hands of adults

I LOVED season 1 and 2 of the crown but found season 3 quite dull and difficult to get through. I'm enjoying season 4 (still havent finished bc I watch with my family and we're rarely all together) but I think that the earlier seasons were a lot better in my opinion

All in all, the writing for the first two seasons were WAY better. My ranking is s2 > s1 > s4 >>>>> s3. In my opinion, season three was kind of terrible.

In the first two seasons each episode’s mini story for the day was actually INTERESTING. Like, I loved where one episode was about the Mountbatten name and then the next was about the Great Smog! But, there was always an overarching plot and it always added up in the end. S1, S2 and S4 all had an overarching plot that worked! S1 was balancing family and the crown. S2 was balancing prime ministers and her husband. S4 was the downfall of Margaret Thatcher and Charles/Diana. S3 LITERALLY HAD NO PLOT! It was just a bunch of stories put together. The finale for season 3 was about the end of Margaret’s marriage! And although, it is an important event in the family’s history the fact that it was the finale episode????

Anyways, Season 3 genuinely just sucks. Season 4 is REALLY good. Yet, it still doesn’t leave as much of an affect on me like the earlier seasons. AND LIKE I KNOW BECAUSE I’VE REWATCHED THE FIRST THREE SEASONS SO MANY TIMES. I’ve only seen the fourth once because I’m too busy and it’s also too early for me to rewatch it. So, maybe my opinion of season 4 will change!

SEASON ONE

101 Wolferton Splash - 10/10 this episodes just sets everything up! we see how happy the marriage is and how loving king george is and we also see the FORSHADOWING!! we see lilibet and phillip making their life thinking they had time when we know they don’t and it’s just :( AN AMAZING PILOT EPISODE WITH AMAZING QUOTES!

102 Hyde Park Corner - 1000/10 this episode needs no explanation. the suspense and DRAMA right before lilibet finds out about her dad ALWAYS gets me!!

103 Windsor - 10/10 I hated this episode the first time I watched it! I didn’t understand the importance of her uncle and I didn’t understand the complexity behind the episode. I was 14 when I saw this episode for the first time! So, mind you I was quite ignorant. but, david basically represents the audience in the show for those who hate the monarchy and call them out on their hypocrisy. BUT DAVID IS A TERRIBLE PERSON! FUCK DAVID! i understand hating the monarchy and for him i know it was personal but the way he talks about his family in the letters UGHUGHGUHGUHGUHGUH this man is evil! there’s also the other story in the episode about the mountbatten name which is so brilliant!

104 Act of God - 15/10 this episode was boring on first watch but I WAS FOURTEEN! this episode took a break from the monarchy and concentrated on a british national horrific event THAT WAS IMPORTANT and i liked how it connected throughout the episode and all that and the CINEMATOGRAPHY OMGGGGG! anyways, something that pisses me off about this episode is that the crown kind of has the same kind of audience as euphoria! they only care about a hot actor or iconic character or the aesthetics AND THAT MAKES ME ANGRY! bc those are the ppl who call this episode the boring fog episode and the latest episode of euphoria a waste of time! they don’t understand the importance of what their watching. an event that killed hundreds by something that could have been avoided bc of science and for euphoria an ongoing pandemic of an ugly world and its affect on ppl not wanting to go on! IM SORRY THIS TURNED INTO A RANT but this episode is important in reminding audiences that disasters can be avoided but also once they happen anything can happen THIS WAS A SAD EPISODE OKAY AND I LOVED VENETIA SCOTT!

105 Smoke and Mirrors - 100/10 THE CORONATION EPISODE! Phillip tries to bring it to the common public and all the fighting between them just makes the coronation even more impactful when we watch it!

106 Gelignite - 8/10 I DESPISED MARGARET IN THE FIRST SEASON i saw her as a spoiled brat who wanted to marry her dad’s assistant! AND ALSO HOW DID SHE NOT REALIZE THERE WAS DEFINITE GROOMING INVOLVED! this episode is generally very good but margaret just pisses me off a lot! however, her not being able to marry peter boresend shouldn’t have been because of his divorcee status but bc he simply was a predator in anyone’s clear eyes IM SORRY IF YOU DISAGREE BUT SHE MET HIM SO YOUNG NO WAY THERE WAS NO GROOMING good episode but pissed off at margaret’s lack of critical thinking besides but I WANT HIMMMMM LIKE I WANT EVERYTHING

107 Scientia Potentia Est - 11/10 hated this when i first watched it! but now one of my favorites! lilibet feels dumb and needs a tutor! prime minister and wannabe prime minister have health problems and keep it from her! lilibet finds out by accident and they all get yelled at! I LOVE WHEN SHE YELLS AT MEN!

108 Pride & Joy - 10/10 this episode is just adds on to the overarching plot of the season: balancing the crown and family. margaret says disrespectful things to ppl who don’t deserve it in place of lilibet while she’s on the commonwealth tour fighting with her husband! then lilibet scorns margaret and we see an ugly papa loved me more argument! absolutely brilliant!

109 Assassins - 1000/10 hated it the first time but now I LOVE THIS EPISODE! it’s the painting and porchey episode and churchill leaving episode. It’s so so so good! i honestly have no words to describe the brilliance of this episode besides the acting done by almost the entire main cast CLAIRE WOW! MATT WOW! STEPHEN (THE PAINTER) WOW! JOHN WOW! HARRIET WOW! when we see the painting getting burned coincided w the downing st dinner GETS ME EVERYTIME I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH!

110 Gloriana - 100/10 the climactic fight between the crown and family! which will lilibet choose?? and the foreshadowing to suez MWAH!

201 Misadventure - 100/10 LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS EPISODE the cutesy lilibet and phillip until it all goes down WOW! and the suez stuff i love it all

202 A Company of Men - 100/10 this is where i think mike’s wife starts snooping or it’s the next episode BUT THIS IS WHERE SOMETHING BEGINS FOR SURE first of all it foreshadows the episode later in the season about philip’s childhood AND MATT’S ACTING!! it’s too good for words!

203 Lisbon - 100/10 i like it when they fight lol that’s the only way i know how to describe why i love it LILIBET WAS EXCITED TO SEE HIM AND SO WAS HE but then mike ruined it by being a disgraceful and dishonest man RUINING EVERYTHING

204 Beryl - 10/10 i start to like margaret bc i feel bad for her! she’s suffering she’s sad that her lil predator boyfriend is no longer w her but look who it is MATTHEW GOODE! he not suspicious at all but the writers are like here take 20 minutes of perfect chemistry between the actors!

205 Marionettes - 100/10 I LOVE THIS EPISODE basically someone who loves the monarchy insults the monarchy and lilibet actually goes to listen to them! w resistance of course but she still took everything he said to fix the monarchy !

206 Vergangenheit - 1000/10 one of my favorites! i didn’t know about david’s nazi past so when i watched this episode for the first time i was completely baffled! another episode where she yells at a man!!!! i’m always annoyed in this episode tho by all the talk from the priest about forgiveness bc im like why would u want to forgive david for being a nazi?? but i think it was intentional by the writers to show the importance of understanding forgiveness and the grounds for it! THIS EPISODE IS JUST PERFECT IM ANNOYED BC I DON’T WANT TO FORGIVE HIM

207 Matrimonium - 9/10 this episode is amazing BEFORE you’ve seen season three bc you root for margaret and tony! but, also throughout the episode there’s all that tony and family and his gf and bf stuff that you think is going to lead somewhere but doesn’t??? like what was the point of introducing his mother and his relationships if it was going nowhere and not even mentioned in season 3??? i really think 'a little goblin hoarding your chapters' is the BEST thing i've read all year that's BEAUTIFUL and i love it slkdjflkfd but really yeah we've been seeing y/n have this buildup over the course of four acts now, like she is this badass and skilled ex-soldier, she knows how to get shit done, but at the same time she hasn't had a moment to breathe in years and you bring up a really good point with how she reacts to tense interactions!! she can easily take care of herself in physical fights but when it comes to emotional and mental ones, she really becomes a different person and that is gonna play off another character in a huge way soon because it's a really neat and special dynamic that i've been waiting to explore. she has been working up to this thing for years and now she's thrown into something else to have to deal with and god someone get her out of there lkasfjldkfjlkj but anywho THANK U im always excited when i see you pop in my inbox i love chatting with u like this it's so much fun for me!! i can't wait to share the next chapter im AAAAAAAAA i can't wait!!

Emile Sanders (formerly Picani):

Curly medium golden mahogany brown hair and sky blue eyes, subtly tanned skin covered in freckles, red framed rounded glasses, likes dressing like a cartoon character or just wearing cartoon merch (his prized possession is his Mabel pines jumper) but wears a brown cardigan over a white button down shirt with a pink necktie when he goes to work

A big goofball that has a lot of love to give, but he still knows when to be more subdued and calm and when to activate “serious picani”. He’s always loved helping people work through their issues which is why he’s a therapist

Like patton, he’s excellent at reading emotions, though he’s a bit better at it since he’s a professional

Has ADHD, but has developed the necessary coping skills to help keep his symptoms under control

Has two siblings; Catarina (Patton’s mother) and Leonard (Patton’s other uncle). Emile is the baby of the family while Leonard is the oldest

Emile met Thomas when they were both in college. They shared an ASL class and quickly began getting along, and frequently practiced sign language together and feelings developed from there

Can and will kill you with a single look. Especially if you mess with his family. He’ll never admit it but he loves them with everything he’s got, even if he never acts like it for even a moment

Especially adores Remy and respects that they’re discovering themself and exploring new possibilities. He knows from experience how tough that is and how much of a challenge it can be

Was adopted at age three after his parents were busted for child abuse and heavy drug addiction. It took quite some time for him to come out of his shell but Emile and Thomas were nothing but patient and loving and kind. He still has a lot of trust issues but he knows he can trust his family

Will never admit it now but became insanely jealous when remy was adopted into the family. He did not want a brother because he knew that meant he was being replaced and he wasn’t loved anymore

Eventually Thomas and Emile sat him down and they all talked through it and assured Anton that he was still loved and he was not being replaced

It still took a very long time for Anton to trust Remy, even if he was only a baby

His heart was won over when Remy said his first word to him

All he said was “no” but Anton admired his defiant spirit

Height: damnit how tall are 12 year olds

Shoulder length hair dyed dark purple at the roots that fades into magenta at the ends (hair colour changes periodically depending on what it feels like having), chocolate brown eyes, fairly dark skinned but not heavily so, gender expression changes at the drop of a hat but it often wears leather, skirts, beanies, and a heck ton of earrings (when it turns eighteen it starts getting a lot of different piercings like angel bites, nostril, and industrial piercings, etc) (that’s worth noting)

Almost always sarcastic but that’s its way of showing love really. It’s a helluva punk that can and will fight anyone to the death if they deserve it (or if they hurt someone Remy likes). It’s actually a huge nerd but doesnt usually show that side of itself. It loves reading, watching shows like doctor who, and doing puzzles with Logan

Was diagnosed with adhd after Emile noticed it experienced similar symptoms for quite a while

Was adopted by Thomas and Emile when it was a baby (and Anton was four), having been found by Emile when it was left in a box in an alleyway, which was a long and complicated process but one hundred percent worth it

It has a trio of male rats named Holmes, Watson, and Splinter. Thomas was a bit reluctant to let it adopt rats but they all went to a rat breeder and when Thomas saw them all and even held one he realised it wasn’t so bad and they were actually kinda cute

When it was nine years old, it nearly died in a nasty hit and run. A truck had swerved into it when it was by the side of the road. It was fine after a lengthy recovery except it had to use a wheelchair after some spinal cord damage left it immobilised from the waist down. The driver was never identified

It probably wasn’t a coincidence that this event occurred not long after remy started talking about how much it loved boys just as much as it loved girls, but that teas a bit too hot for this post

Logan’s sisters:

Ellen Adams-Waterson:

Age: 26

Height: 5’6”

She’s a determined, steadfast kinda gal who fights for whats right and gives everything she has for her loved ones, especially her immediate family. Although she can be pretty blunt with her words she’s also kindhearted and wants whats best for everyone

She’s an avid writer, and has actually published a novel. She also dabbles in fanfiction and is unashamed about it

She’s married to a wonderful wife named Elizabeth and they have a daughter named Kaylee (15)

She’s also been trying to quit smoking but so far that has yielded no results

Ashley Fletcher (formerly Adams):

Age: 24

Pronouns: she/her

Long light ash brown hair that reaches her tailbone that she keeps parted to the right, electric blue eyes, fair skinned and a face full of freckles, black rectangular glasses, tries to be fashion forward but mostly just wears T-shirts and denim jackets

She’s a trans woman and has been transitioning for a few years now with lots of support from her family. She’s a nice person but let’s people walk all over her a bit. She doesn’t like confrontation much because of her anxiety disorder, but she’s trying to get better with that

Loves acting and wants to pursue it as a career, but her anxiety makes it difficult to put herself out there

Married to a trans man named warren and they have a son named jack (11) and a daughter named Emma (6)

She met warren at a pride event with Logan and Patton, and it was actually Patton who met him first (although at the time he went by a different name and didnt know he was trans yet) and then introduced him to the others

They actually talked about adopting a child long before even considering marriage. Although they realised it would look better to adoption agencies if they were married, and that was the main reason they even went through all of that

Renae Adams:

Age: 21

Pronouns: she/her/he/him

Height: 6’8”

Short wavy hair dyed bright pink, amber eyes, fair skinned, a black *dabs* styling pair of Warby Parker’s, often wears high neck shirts and suit jackets, basically always business casual because she can, and loves wearing hoop earrings

There are two sides to Renae; either stone cold businessperson or happy go lucky memelord with a heart of gold. She’s a lot like Logan in that regard, although it’s harder to predict what side of her you’ll see at any given moment. She can either be a super soft bean or the scariest person on the planet

Has been dealing with OCD her whole life, and sometimes it gets particularly bad (especially the intrusive thoughts) but she has a therapist and psychiatrist she sees somewhat regularly

She runs her own coffee shop called Real Bean Café and it does fairly well. She’s always thinking about how she can improve her business

She’s aroace so she isn’t in a romantic relationship but she is in a queerplatonic relationship with a beautiful enby named Pigeon

They actually met in her coffeeshop. Renae saw Pigeon’s Attack on Titan T-shirt and was immediately compelled to talk to them

Trust me, writing comes with practice!! I should honestly just tattoo that on me. God knows my first fanfic was absolutely GARBAGE. I didn’t know pacing, didn’t know that I should separate chunks of paragraphs, how to write dialogue or describe scenes properly. I went in blind. Even my second, third and fourth fanfic was garbage. You could definitely get to “my level” or even far surpass it with enough dedication and practice. I mean I’ve been writing for four years, so thank GOD there’s been improvement. I wouldn’t be natural if there wasn’t. But clearly the more you practice, the better you improve! That applies to anything.

The me in ten years will certainly be better now.

tbh, I’m not sure how well I handled it cause I was flooded with over 30 messages afterwards (evidently) ;_; which I love and appreciate but I’m not really as hurt as some people think hahaha criticism should be received well but it’s still hard not to take personally tbh. My thoughts on 15.16

Hello lovelies! Welcome to my extremely biased review of Supernatural 15.16! Will probably be out of order to the episode because I'm an inconsistent bitch. So, let's start with the basis of the episode. Young Winchesters, flashback. This didn't feel like my boys, their dynamic was incredibly off. Dean called Sam names, tried to ditch him, and ignored him. We have been shown Dean in the past at this age before, and we know very well this is not how he treated his little brother. Now, yes, Sam is still greatly important to Dean, but at that age? Sam was his pride and joy, his everything, his Sammy was everything to him. And Dean would never, never treat him like that. I also wanted to point out it felt strange for Dean to connect so easily to Caitlyn and Travis. Sam I feel would want to help, but it felt odd for Dean to jump into opening up like that. With Robin in the previous flashback episode, (when he was nearly the same age as he is here!) It took weeks for him to open up, and even then he was still closed up. True, Robin wasn't in danger, but he still gave in to telling Cait and Travis extremely quickly. I think Dean, especially at that age, would not have jumped into that action without Johns explicit say-so. Another thing, is that this timeline is incorrect. In 'Just My Imagination' (11.09 I believe) we see Sam jumping excitedly to go hunt with Dean. True, Sam had been talking to Scully (is that his name? Me not fact checking names Im sorry) about possibly going to college, but at the end of the episode we see him saying "This, this is my life! I'm finally going hunting with Dean!" Sam was nine in that episode. And in this most recent flashback episode, we see him at ten years old. Now I'm aware of how much change can happen in one year, but over the course of 15 seasons I've seen how often Sam changes, how his goals and opinions evolve. He doesn't change an opinion that firm in less than a year. And yet, in 15.16 we have him holding onto hope of college and researching where he could go. We have previously been told Dean (and subsequently John) had no idea about Sams driving desire for higher education, only that he was a bright student who enjoyed learning. It hadn't occurred to them that Sam would truly ditch, even as much as he complained. It was part of why Sam was so cast out (as we are shown throughout season one) when he said he was leaving. To them, it was incredibly out of the blue. This goes against Dean finding out about Sams college research in the latest episode. This would mean Dean knew what Sam wanted, that Dean said "maybe" to Sams wish. Which we have had reinforced many times over that this didn't happen. See all of the early seasons. I understand that we have fifteen seasons and over three hundred episodes, but it frustrates me that there is such a glaring plot hole. Sams sudden 'abandonment' of the family business was such an important plot line in the early seasons and they truly went against much of it. Onto my next topic! Towards the end of the episode, Dean tells Caitlyn he is always afraid. Aside from the heartbreaking aspect, this is huge character development. Dean uses his macho, never afraid, badass male attitude as a shield, and we saw it crumble for a moment. Dean is tired of lying. He is tired of pretending everything is okay. And he might not have been able to open up to his brother just yet, but he let his facade crack for a moment and for once, admitted his fear. An important point is that Dean is likely to never seen Caitlyn again, never speak to her again. Not that Caitlyn doesn't matter to him, but in his line of work, it just isn't likely. He lives from one apocalypse to the next, and he still has the mindset that everyone he loves gets killed. So his confession, while greatly meaningful, doesn't mean he is getting to the point of succeeding at opening up to his loved ones. Still, though, I was very proud of him. Next next next. Onto Dean seeing his brothers dead body. (See, out of order I warned you of my sporadic nature)

This is one angle I see it as: And so, here is young Sam. Reminding him what it's like to lose a child who depends on you so deeply. Reminding him of how much his heart aches when he goes against what's true to him. And the trauma of seeing his brother, still his light after all this time, broken, mutilated, dead on a floor. Especially ten year old Sam? His love, his everything, still waiting for the torture he knows lies ahead? Perhaps this implies that Sam, still young at heart, still hopeful of the ways of the world, is still destined to meet and end like that. A pile of bodies, from a monster they could never understand. Except, many years later, it isn't a one off. It's God. That is so, so symbolic at a time like this. But, from another point of view, I offer this: This may not even about Sam. This could be about Jack. Dean has just been told Jack is going to die, and Jack is like his kid at this point. And Dean is terrified of losing another kid. But Dean still can't, he won't let himself feel that way about Jack. So his subconscious puts forth Sam, because Sam has truly always been his kid. His brother, yes, but Sam was basically his child. This is a way his subconscious and the storyline is reinforcing: A) Sam is like Deans child as well as his brother. and B) Dean feels that Jack is his kid but can't let himself admit it. No matter who the writers meant for us to interpret the moment as referencing, we still end up with the same message.  It's about the vulnerability of caring for someone with such a tragic ending. It's about trusting yourself enough to allow bad things to happen, knowing you will fix it in the end. It's about the horrors of life and how you fight them. It's about family. *checks notes* Onward we go! Now about my very favourite part of the episode: Sammy cracking. We haven't seen Sam that angry, that out of control, yelling, wrecked, at this brother, in a very long time. While I understand Deans point of view, while everyone has right to everything they're doing, I was, I am, shocked and impressed of Sams reaction. That was raw, true emotion. He was furious, at a loss, and Jared played it beautifully. The tension in that scene was incredible and J2 knocked it the hell out of the park. As for Dean, we have seen Dean like this before, many times over. Making the wrong choice for the right reasons. He has a mindset of doing the hard thing for the right people. And right now the stakes are higher than ever. He is screaming at himself just as much as Sam, that they don't have a choice. He doesn't have a choice. Losing Jack, it has to be worth it, they have to save the world. A lesson that they never seem to learn is that they can't save the world without each other. Their motivations and emotions, morals, and breaking points, are all interlaced in unexplainable ways. Pull one thread, take one of them out of the equation, and it's all going to go to hell. Now I didn't say this was healthy, but co-dependency is all that they know. It's all that they are, and they rely on it (each other) to function. Dean has to realize he needs Jack, Jack is a part of them, and finally as a team they can fix it. Dean currently can't accept this. He is holding onto his anger like a birthright, like a saviour, because anger is the only thing he feels he can rely on. So he is taking his self conflict out on Sam. He always takes it out on those he loves. Dean is no stranger to self conflict, self hatred. And he takes it out on Sam, or he smashes the shit out of Baby, he ignores and pushes Cas away. This is how Dean copes, and Sam knows it. Sam usually takes it. Braces for the punches and stands his ground. But now, now Sam is cracking. Sam is breaking, and he can't hold on anymore, he can't shove it down and bite his tongue and take it. He explodes, he shows, he tells Dean he can't believe this. It's so powerful from both ends.

The dynamic right now, with four episodes left, is a bomb-field. Dean was lying to Sam about Jack dying, Cas is lying to the brothers about the Empty deal

still angry with Jack and Cas about what happened with Mary, Dean is lying to Amara and Billie, Cas is lying to Billie and telling Jack to not spill the beans about his deal. No one is on good terms, and those who are, their relationships are about to blow up. The team can't handle that right now, they ALL need to come clean, and be on the same page. They don't have time for tears, for punches, for screams. They need each other in this final run. They are all each other have.

hey i have a writing question bc you seem to know a lot about this stuff: i kinda really want to write and have wanted to for like a good four years now but i feel like i should just abandon it altogether bc like. none of what i write is actually good? like i can write several thousand words Technically but usually it's just several hundred before im taken up with resentment and i feel like maybe i just dont have any talent so i should just give up and leave it to actually capable people yknow?

PLEASE DON’T ABANDON WRITING!!! PLEASE!!!

i’m the biggest hypocrite in the world by saying this, and i’ll readily admit that, but the only way to get better at writing is by writing! (and reading, but obviously of the two that’s of slightly lesser importance) 

but also: what’s your goal? are you looking to become a published author, a fic writer, just someone who writes for fun, etc? 

regardless of the answer ofc i’m gonna encourage you to just keep writing and keep working at it, but knowing what you’re aiming for will help me give some more specific advice :)

but i really do understand the feeling of reading back your work and being like “oh my god i’m terrible literally this is embarrassing and i am LYING when i call myself a writer this is GARBAGE” (tip: this happens more and more every time you read the same unaltered draft of a piece. stop rereading it over and over unless you’re making purposeful, deliberate edits. again, i’m a hypocrite but working on it!) 

ik a lot of people hate editing (and there’s definitely the part of me that’s like....you want me to . rewrite the whole thing again? even though i ....just did that?) and for first drafts i end up not liking very much, or the ones i’m not as interested or excited about as i used to be, i usually just stop there and move on, but like when there’s something i’m working on that i really care about and am excited about and feeling good about, i LOVE editing it. like waaaay more than writing the rough draft.

editing is where the magic happens! i’m actually really focusing right now on making my first drafts WORSE—aka allowing myself to simply get the bare bones of the story onto paper with the understanding that it will be terrible

because guess what: you can edit a terrible draft, but you can’t edit a draft that doesn’t exist!

i tend to painstakingly write small bits to make them as perfect as possible before moving on, and a few months ago i read something that really made a good point: there’s no point in editing like that during the first draft/s of a story bc there’s no way to know if that section is even going to make it into the final product! i cut SO much between my first and final drafts (mostly bc i tend to think naturally in a lot of words...obviously ksdjflkjsd look at this ask already, and a lot of my edits are about concision--also sometimes for descriptions especially i’ll write multiple adverbs or adjectives or metaphors or whatever so i can record the ones i think of, and then during an edit i’ll go back and choose which one works best, etc) and a lot of the things i spend a looooot of time on end up getting tossed anyway, which is such a waste of time

but also not to like toot my horn but i’m a pretty bomb editor/proofreader for that very reason and if youd like me to look over any of your work and maybe give you some pointers or tips or specific areas to work on, i’m studying to be a high school english teacher so i promise i know how to give constructive criticism nicely! 

a final note: the more i learn about writing, the more i think that there is no Special Something. the problem is that we only ever see the final drafts of the things we love, and we have no way to know what they looked like in the beginning, how bad they were at first, how much was changed from the beginning until release, etc, so it can be very easy to assume “wow, this is so much better than the draft i just wrote, obviously this writer is Naturally Talented and i’m not. i guess i should quit” instead of thinking about the differences between your own first and final drafts, and remembering that your final product did NOT start out the way it is in the end!

The Refuge - Crutchie Morris

A/n: I got this idea from a post (really it was a tangent I went on) that I had saved in my drafts about how when the kid in letters of the refuge told Crutchie to be quiet while he was talking about Santa Fe and how that represented Crutchie losing hope. Hopefully this is good, and it’s kinda a prequel to Without Crutchie. I hope you all like it!

When Snyder grabbed him, Crutchie knew that he was done for. He yelled for Jack, but he knew that Jack wouldn’t come. Jack wouldn’t come face the man that he was terrified of, the man who had abused over a hundred children since imprisonment in the Refuge first began. He was being taken to the Refuge and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it.

When Crutchie got there, he was in more pain than he had been in a long time. Snyder and the Delanceys has beaten him before even having the handcuffs on. He was forcefully thrown into the back of the horse drawn police wagon and the door was nearly shut on his bad leg. Then finally, he was shoved into the small bunk filled room, and once again beaten by Snyder and his goons.

He couldn’t move. He felt like he was in the worst nightmare imaginable, but he couldn’t wake up from it. He was trapped. Shut off from the rest of the world, from his friends, his family. Although it was hard, he tried to remain hopeful.

He remained grateful to the kids who helped him get to the top bunk. If it weren’t for them, Snyder would be able to grab him without any effort, but this way, he was as safe as he could possibly be in the situation he was in. For the first time since he had gotten there, he didn’t feel alone. He felt taken care of.

He remained grateful to the kids who would bring him food whenever they were able to get it, whenever it was smuggled to them. They were considerate enough to not make him get off of his bunk. They were considerate enough to help him through thick and thin. He felt like he always had when he was around the boys at the lodge.

Crutchie could barely move. Snyder had pulled him from his bunk and dragged him by his bad leg to his office to “teach him a lesson” for striking.

Jack went to visit him, and Crutchie wanted to get down to see him, but he just couldn’t bring himself to move. Kids offered to help him down since they were well aware of everything Jack had done for the kids locked away in the Refuge, but Crutchie couldn’t go. He just wasn’t able to do anything.

By the next day, Crutchie was able to sit up for a short amount of time, so he took the liberty of writing down everything he would have said to Jack when he came to the window. He wanted to tell him that everything was going to be fine, that the strike was going to work and everyone would be treated fairly like they should be, that after the strike he and Jack would go straight to Santa Fe and not look back.

But that was a long shot. He wasn’t sure any of that would happen, especially not getting to Santa Fe. It was across the country. He wouldn’t be able to ride a Palomino, neither of them would. They didn’t know how. The fresh air wouldn’t fix his leg, no matter how much he tried to convince himself of it. They would be in the same situation they were in in New York, only they’d be in a different setting.

Santa Fe was a long shot. It was a fantasy, a dream that Jack had chased since Crutchie had met him. It wasn’t going to happen, but he wouldn’t tell Jack that.

He wouldn’t let Jack or the others know that he had lost hope, that he felt he would never get out, that he might die within the confining walls of the Refuge. He couldn’t tell them that. He couldn’t tell Jack that he was close to giving up.

Sure, he had an escape plan: tie a sheet to the bed, toss the end out the window, climb down, and run all the way back to the lodge or however far his legs could carry him. He knew that wasn’t going to happen. With the worsening of his leg, and the new abuse added to that, he knew he was stuck. He was trapped with nowhere to go.

He couldn’t protect himself, or the boys at the lodge whom of which he had grown to love, while he was locked away in the under-kept prison for children , but they could protect one another. If he never got out, he’d know that they were safe because they wouldn’t never let anything happen to another one of their own.

He didn’t know how to end his letter. Should he just say he was Jack’s friend? It didn’t sound right. He was more than that. Should he say that he was Jack’s best friend? That just didn’t sound right either. So Crutchie chose a relation that best represented the way he felt about Jack and the way Jack felt about him. He was Jack’s brother. He was his family. So that’s how it ended, Your brother, Crutchie.

Specs had come to check on Crutchie the following day, and was asked to give the letter directly to Jack. He obliged, and told Crutchie that he would do it right away.

The next week and a half, Crutchie had no visitors. He was left on his own and treated horribly by the adults in the facility. He wondered what could have happened in those men’s lives to make them so willing to hurt children and not feel any sort of remorse. All he could do was wonder.

That week alone was a blur. It felt like forever when it happened, but now looking back, it felt like only a few days, rather than being a painstaking two weeks. Without knowing what was happening next, Crutchie saw two state officials unlock all of the rooms that children were locked in.

For a moment, he started to have hope, then he realized that something bad could be happening. They could have been being let go, but they could also be taken to a more secure prison away from the city. Anxiety started to build, and Crutchie kept thinking more bad thoughts, until he saw Snyder being dragged away by two police officers.

Crutchie asked a few if the kids in his bunk to help him down to the ground so he could ask the policemen taking Snyder away for an important favor. Luckily, they obliged and the policemen did as well, and with that, Crutchie, the two policemen, and a very angry Snyder made their way down to the circulation gate of the World.

Jack stood above all the newsies on a balcony of the World building, telling everyone that they had won. They had beat the “king makers of New York” as Katherine had called them when she was first introduced to the group, and Crutchie couldn’t have been prouder of his large, dysfunctional family, who stood in front of him, congratulating one another.

He decided that the group of four would enter the square after Governor Roosevelt had let everyone know that the Refuge was being shut down for all of the mistreatment that had occurred. Of course, Crutchie would go first so everyone would know that he’s okay, and then the officers and Snyder would follow so Crutchie could put the handcuffs on Snyder just as Snyder had done to him two weeks prior.

Everyone was ecstatic when they saw Crutchie. He honestly wasn’t sure if they were more excited about winning the strike, or having him back, but since Crutchie knew his family, he knew that they were more happy to see him. The large group didn’t expect to ever see what they saw next. Crutchie had put the handcuffs of Snyder, hit him with his crutch, and off Snyder went to prison.

Jack had rushed down to the center of the square to see Crutchie and to thank the governor for his generosity in helping with the strike. Jack was still planning on going to Santa Fe even though he had his best friend back, was the leader of a union, had a new relationship with Katherine, and had just gotten a job offer from the very man he lead the strike against. If it weren’t for the convincing from Crutchie, Davey, and Katherine, Jack would have already been on the train, straight to Santa Fe.

The one that convinced Jack to stay was Crutchie. He had been right, they were all a family. They were always there for one another, and the last thing Jack would do was abandon his family. They were glad that Jack was staying, relieved even, but they were more happy about Crutchie,because after weeks of hell, he was safe. He had made his way back home.

Getting it out there

I have no idea what to write. I have so many plans and hobbies I want to become good at but its like im chained down with ankle weights. I want to become a writer, I also have a strong passion for art. But in the age of 18 I haven't been drawing as much as I should have so I could actually come as far as to how long I have been drawing. I have also written since I knew my letters. I think its awkward to write in my own language so I stick to English but my vocabulary is unbelievably weak and I try to read books in English but I can't focus on the sentences. I have that problem even if i'm reading Norwegian texts. Its hard. I know I just have to get up and write. For hours. Thats why im sitting here now. I fall in love with what others write and spends hours researching what others have to say about it when i could've used that time to improve myself.

I'm really scared to go out there where they are. I don't even have that much real life friends so how im i gonna make it in the internet? I don't understand anything. My dreams are so big and strong but i just walk on time. I have a lot of it. I'm in my younger years there is no rush. But then suddenly im older. Everything moves to fast and i'm not noticing it. I had the exact same thought four years ago and i still havent done anything. It's sad. I can sit in my bed. Have my laptop open and reading all these wonderful tips and looks at peoples book collections and art and I look up and see the dim light surrounding my desk. It's the perfect time to write, draw or play the piano. But i cant get up to do it. My bookshelf standing there with all my book waiting for me to pick one up and open it. And i don't. What's the point of reading if you can't even catch the words? Suddenly I am three pages in front when I realize I haven't paid attention at all. I try to go back and re-read it but it won't stick. Frustration and anger fills me. “why can't I do what i love so much?” At least what I loved. Now it's just a dark spiral of me standing there with all these directions and nowhere to go.

Still I think this is much better written than the other biography-character thing i tried. This is coming straight from my heart. It pains me that i'm like this. I want to start a small bookstore since no one of the other stores where you can leave your stuff in my area takes in old books anymore. I want to become a great pianist. Not necessarily for the stage but for the joy. The family parties and quiet moments for myself. I want to become an artist. Let others enjoy the pictures I create with my mind and some paper. I want to become a writer to show people my world and thoughts.

All the pressure about school and people telling me what i can't or shouldn't do doesn't help much. But luckily i'm not the one to lose hope. I want to do everything that i want. I'm ready to work for it. But i'm so unbelievably scared. I know I have people around me. That supports me. This is big and important to me. But i don't have any connections. I have no one to ask questions. I'm not the person to ask just freely on the net, even anonymously. I have no idea what i'm doing. I went to a lovely piano school where i learned a whole lot, but had to quit since we didn't have the money for it. Now my keyboard stands in my room collecting dust since i no longer know what I can do. I have tried apps and searched online but it's really hard to keep it up. I got myself a cheap iPad from my birthday money, and its great but i have lost all energy and motivation to pick it up and use it.

I have used a lot of money on my hobbies. Money that's just burning up because I can't control my will. One day that iPad is gonna break. No surprise but then, what did I use it for? Following my dream and doing what I intended in the first place or letting it sit on my desk untouched or just used for looking at the things I wanted to create. What about all the art supplies and pens i have gotten myself saying “this will do the trick” even if i know that it won't. Only I can do the trick only that i don't know how to manage it yet. Even if I do.. I don't really know what's holding me back. I know that if i fuck up. I can delete my account and start over as somebody else. Its easy but still my mark will be set, but even then they may not be able to find me. I know people can easily find me with some posts and a deleted account if they really wanted to. People have done things like that for less of a reason. I guess i just want to become part of something. I try several different things to see where I fit in. All I have ever wanted most in my life is a gang i can call my own. Not that im the boss but just that feeling of being part of something. I have never truly been together like that with anything. I have had friends but never many. Just one close friend at the time and their friends. I got further inn. I was just there because of my one connection to the group. I could call some of them friends but we never hung out together alone. I hate that. I want to be in a group where I can feel close to everyone. I'm really shy and anxious, especially on the net and over messages, but i have worked really hard for this.

I don't know how it got to my personal life but.. That's how writing just straight from your heart is. You never know how its gonna end. I could take this to a nun in some kind of mountain if I wanted to. That's one thing i love about writing. It can take you anywhere, and you don't need to go anywhere. Even better: I can take whoever reads this to my paradise. I can take you to a distant world that is my mind, just with some movements of my hand. I can tell you about a waterfall hidden behind a wall in the mountain and you`ll stand there with me with your own colors and and pictures. You and I cooperate to make one picture. I describe the scene and with your mind you fill in the lines and color the whole thing in whatever you want. I love that. I can help hundreds or maybe thousand create a scene in their head with my words and your minds. I like the sound of that. I know i'm not alone in this, and after sitting here, just spewing out words from inside of myself for the last 45 minutes I have realized that I can't write anything without help. Without people to read my stories there will be no picture. Just some small lines without color or pencil streaks. I know that even if that wasn't the case i still need you to read it, but something about that way of thinking can really boosts someones mind. Of Course I always have a picture of what my lines look like, but that's not the most interesting. I can sit here and speculate for hours of what that picture may look like and you can read that line once and have a clear picture of what it looks like.

I wish i could read better. I haven't manage to color anyones lines for a long time. Even of i keep buying books and hoping that one day I get to read them.It's quite silly and stupid really. I feel weak that I can't pick up anything that I love and continue to work my way up to love it more. I have gotten myself up to school and jobs that i hate when I just want to give it all to stay home and do what really calls my heart but then i get the chance and I don't take it. If i don't start now i may never get it either.

I don't know if I want to post this. I feel weak and ashamed of myself for not doing all the things I should have, but on the other hand maybe someone needs this. They can use my low point to get just a tiny step closer to their high points. It's a quite long post, but if someone actually reads it and find it helpful it will be more than enough for me. I just wrote this to get it out of my system really. It will maybe benefit us both. I have touched a lot of themes and parts of my life and thoughts so I think I will end it here. “So, Y/N, you’re a telepath,” Erik questioned over his shoulder.

“So can you do everything Charles can or are you different?” he asked.

“Uh, I’m not sure. I can hear people’s thoughts and can’t get it to stop. It’s like I’m tuned into a hundred radio stations all at once,” you informed. “What all can you do Charles?” you asked curiously, now that Erik made the statement.

“With training, yes, you should be able to do most of what I can do,” he stated.

“And you can stop time, project yourself...make people do what you want…” you listed, the abilities he had were just in your mind. You weren’t sure if he had thought about them or if you simply knew what he could do, but you just knew.

He cleared his throat. “Yes, that’s right. Can you read my mind right now?”

“I can read everyone’s mind....all the time,” you sadly informed, your eyes drifting to the car window as you watched the scenery blur by.

“That can’t have been easy,” Erik commented softly while he stared at you.

I went to school, got decent grades, had friends...And then one day, I get this totally groovy ability, right? I can read minds. I’m suddenly...different. In my mind, this is a good thing. I’m finally different from all the other girls on my block or in my school…” You stopped, recalling the first time you discovered your power. “But then suddenly...It’s not as cool as I think it is, you know?” you asked rhetorically, your eyes drifting up to his. “My parents thought I was possessed, my friends saw me as a reclusive freak, neighbors whispered about me. This power that I suddenly had, that I was thrilled for...instantly became the reason for me being an outcast. It did the opposite of what I wanted. Instead of being cool and powerful, I just heard judgement, ridicule, hatred, cruelty wherever I went. Even if it wasn’t for me, it was for people around me…” You shrugged again, laughing quietly without humor. “I just….I had always wanted to be different, to be special, but when I got my wish I lost everything else.”

“I’m sorry,” Erik offered after some time passed and no one had said anything.

You smiled. “It’s fine. If they can’t accept me for who I am, I don’t need them in my life,” you explained. “I don’t blame the power. It isn’t the telepathy’s fault that my family and friends hated me.”

But on the other hand, you and Erik seemed to get along swimmingly as well. It was peculiar. He was dashing, charming, and kind. You couldn’t help but feel a pull to him as well, after all, he’d been tormented for his powers just as you had been. That alone seemed to bond you two.

The team of recruits had been prattling on about all sorts of things but you kept to yourself in one corner, as you always did. It was easier this way. Even if these other young adults were mutants, that didn’t make them your friend. Charles and Erik, they were your friends. Charles had known you a long time, Erik shared the pain of rejection from peers, and worse. They were your allies. These people...well, being mutant didn’t make you bonded.
