Its a prompt! (And dont worry about it, absolutely love reading your writing XD) Okay so dimension travel, so we all agree in a world where WWX was raised in another sect (like Lan/Nie) That he would be absolutely adored by them and everyone, healthy relationships( even Jin Zixuan and Wei Wuxian wouldn't be on a bad term much because no WWX JYL interaction) so! Canon!WWX from post ssc timeline gets transmigrated/summoned to one of these worlds where hes raised by either Lan or Nie so 1/2
They're a bit confused seeing WWX in black clothes, and seeing his gaunt/tired appearance and him being so on guard around them (since he's usually open and loved) that they ask him why is it so? Does he not know Lan Xichen/Nie Mingjue back from whicher place he came from, and Wei Wuxian goes 'Ive met them/we're not close' they ask 'sorry if its a bit personal but who were you raised by?' and WWX replies the Jiangs and cue everyone horrified cuz Jiangs areopen in their heavy dislike of WWX2/2
'It's my fault.' Nie Huaisang thinks as he frantically collects all the materials needed, 'It is my fault, I need to fix this.'
His er-ge was gone. His brother, Da-ge's pride and joy, the shining star of the Nie Clan.
Gone. Just like that.
One minute they're on an easy nighthunt and the next, Wei Wuxian is pushing him away to take an attack straight to his chest.
He knows his brother is gone. His body may be alive, but just barely. He's drowning in his own blood and there's nothing Nie Huaisang can do. There's no cognition in his eyes, that bright silver gaze is dull and blank.
He has to do something.
The ritual may not work. It came with so many warnings that Nie Huaisang lost the patience to read them all the way through. If something goes wrong, it goes wrong.
"Huaisang! What are you doing?!" Da-ge's voice is loud but Nie Huaisang doesn't pay any attention to it. The room is sealed and it would take da-ge some time to break through it.
"Nie Huaisang!"
Good, Lan Xichen is here. He'll take care of da-ge if something goes wrong.
"Huaisang!" There's a loud crash but he doesn't pay any attention to it, "Stop! Don't do something stupid."
"I need to save him. It is my fault, I need to save him!"
"Huaisang!"
There's a bright red flash and it drowns out everything.
---
Miraculously, he survives.
His fledgling Golden Core has shattered and melted into nothing, but he has survived.
And he has done it.
"Does your stupidity known no bounds?" Da-ge demands as Lan Wangji kneels by er-ge's bed and feeds him potent spiritual energy.
Wei Wuxian is alive. His cognition is intact and his Golden Core is stable but he's soaked in Resentful Energy.
"You destroyed your Golden Core, Huaisang! There's no recovering from it!"
"Wouldn't you do the same?" He demands, turning around to look at his oldest brother. He ignores Lan Xichen's alarmed voice and focuses on Nie Mingjue, "Is his life worth less than my Golden Core?"
Da-ge locks his jaw but doesn't reply. Of course, Wei Wuxian's life is worth more than a Golden Core.
"Huaisang," Lan Xichen sighs, "a-Xian wouldn't have wanted this."
"Look at Wangji-xiong and tell me that again." He says bluntly. He is tired and drained but no one can convince him that reviving er-ge wasn't the right choice.
Xichen-ge doesn't reply because no one can look at the devastated expression on Lan Wangji's face and say it wasn't worth it.
Huaisang doesn't feel the absence of the core as keenly as someone else might. He had only developed it during the Sunshot Campaign, after all.
He isn't like er-ge or Wangji-xiong, with their powerful cores and potent spiritual energy. The loss would've been devastating to them but is only an afterthought to him.
---
They realize something is off when Wei Wuxian opens his eyes and looks at them with distant wariness instead of familiar affection. He looks around and is instantly on guard, "Where... Why am I here?"
He looks directly at Wangji-xiong, "Lan Zhan? What are you... Have you brought me here?" He demanded, his expression shifting to something hostile, "Are we in Gusu?"
"Wei-gongzi," Xichen-ge calls for his attention, "I know you're very confused but please don't be alarmed. We're in your home at the Unclean Realm, not in Gusu."
Er-ge narrows his eyes and Huaisang recognizes that expression, even though it has never been directed towards them. A look of cool calculation as er-ge tries to decipher their motives. "My home?" He asks.
Wangji-xiong knows er-ge almost as well as they do. He reaches forward, "Wei Ying, let us explain, please."
It appears that this Wei Wuxian is just as vulnerable to Wangji-xiong as his brother had been because he softens immediately. His body is still tense but he seems to be willing to listen.
"You died in this world, saving Huaisang's life." Da-ge begins gruffly. Huaisang winces at the bluntness but er-ge seems to appreciate it, his sharp gaze focusing on their elder brother, "Yes, this world," Da-ge confirms, "Our didi decided he wouldn't tolerate it and decided to use one of our forbidden rituals to revive you. He didn't read things clearly. The ritual dragged your soul from another world and placed you in his body."
Er-ge's expression is skeptical, "Our didi..."
Wangji-xiong sucks in a sharp breath, "Wei Ying," His brother's gaze moves to his 'best friend', "You are Wei Wuxian, 23 years old, the Head Disciple of QingheNie Sect, the adopted younger brother of Nie Mingjue and older brother to Nie Huaisang. You were adopted by the former Nie-zongzhu when you were six years old."
Er-ge stares at Wangji-xiong in stunned disbelief but there's no denial in his expression.
No wonder, Wangji-xiong never lies. That must be true in his world as well.
"a-Xian," Er-ge winces and looks at Xichen-ge, "You need to rest and recover. Your Golden Core is stab-"
Er-ge gasps and immediately sits up, placing his hand on his chest. He closes his eyes and almost violently summons his spiritual energy.
"Wei Ying!" Wangji-xiong calls out in alarm but his brother doesn't pay any attention, his focus entirely inward.
"I have my Golden Core back..." Er-ge breathes, astonished but his skin goes white and he loses consciousness.
They exchange stunned glances before scrambling forward to check on him.
---
No one can deny Wei Wuxian has changed. It takes a month for his body to recover but his heart is still unsteady. He puts on every appearance of being alright, but Huaisang has grown up with this man. He knows something is off.
It is only when er-ge decides he needs to start training again that things start to become clear. Er-ge has trained all of his life to fight with a Dao. His movements are powerful and aggressive, designed to overwhelm the enemy.
Er-ge's mind, however, is accustomed to the traditional Jian. He seems to expect his movements to be lighter, faster. More agile and less powerful.
The dissonance makes him clumsy and he loses his first fight against Lan Wangji in a long time.
"Wei Ying?" Wangji-xiong frowns, "Your movements."
Da-ge has his concerned scowl on and he grabs Baxia, stepping into the training field, "With me, Wuxian."
This fight is faster and more brutal. Huaisang almost wants to protest but he can see er-ge adjust and adapt quickly.
His eyes gain a razor-sharp focus and his battle instincts come to the fore. "Good," Xichen-ge observes, "He's accepting his body."
Indeed, he is. Against da-ge's overwhelming force, there's nothing er-ge can do but react instinctively. They engage in several bouts and keep at it for over a shichen.
By the end of it, er-ge is exhausted but faintly triumphant.
"Lan Zhan, again!"
"Wei Ying, you need rest." Wangji-xiong says with a shake of his head, "Don't strain yourself."
"Why were you fighting like you wanted to wield a Jian, didi?" Da-ge asks sternly, "You were hesitant and weak in some strikes."
Er-ge grimaces and Xichen-ge steps forward. It has been over a month and though er-ge has seen how much they all care for him, he remains wary.
"a-Xian," Xichen-ge begins gently, "You weren't a part of the Nie Clan in the past, were you?"
Da-ge's scowl deepens at the thought of er-ge belonging to anyone else but them. They had suspected something like this, of course. But they had hoped that er-ge would've still been a part of the Nie Sect if not the Clan.
Er-ge remains wary but sighs, "No."
"Not the Lans," Xichen-ge observes astutely, "Not the Jins either. Were you a rogue cultivator? Or from a smaller sect?"
Er-ge studies him before shaking his head, "I was the Head Disciple of the Jiangs."
"What?" Wangji-xiong asks, his voice uncharacteristically sharp, "Jiangs?"
Da-ge looks furious and Xichen-ge seems pained. No wonder, given how... problematic the Jiang situation is. That family is entirely unsuitable for someone as loving and giving as his er-ge!
Jiang Wanyin is a complex mix of pride and insecurity. He lags behind all sect heirs, though Huaisang is fairly certain their batch of cultivators is particularly skilled. Er-ge and Wangji-xiong are exceptional in every way and Jin Zixuan is barely a few steps behind.
In the face of such competition, skilled but ordinary cultivators can't help but be overshadowed.
Jiang Fengmian, according to da-ge, is a meek little imitation of his former self. The man that pursued er-ge's mother had been strong and wise. He had the skill, political acumen, and grace to be an admirable Sect Leader.
His marriage to Yu Ziyuan ruined him.
And Yu Ziyuan is a nightmare. The one time she met Wei Wuxian, she had left such an impression that da-ge had cut all ties with the Jiang Sect until its Madam apologized to the Nie Sect Head Disciple.
That hadn't gone down well and the relationship between them is still sour.
"Do you want to return to them?" He blurts out, unable to help himself. If Jiangs are this Wei Wuxian's family then maybe-
"No."
They still because that's a very firm no. It is a complete and utter rejection of the very thought of it.
"No."
---
Getting the whole story out of er-ge is like pulling teeth but between Wangji-xiong's pleas, Xichen-ge's gentle questions, da-ge impassioned demands, and his own begging, they manage.
This Wei Wuxian doesn't love them yet but he sees their love for him clearly. That softens his heart and they get to hear every painful, excruciating aspect of his past life.
Wangji-xiong looks furious, da-ge paces, Xichen-ge is pale, but all of that doesn't matter.
He recognizes the look on er-ge's face. He has never seen it on him before, but he recognizes it.
Er-ge expects them to reject him. To abandon him for his 'sins'.
"Well, I don't have a Golden Core. Can you teach me Demonic Cultivation?"
"Huaisang!" Is yelled from almost every direction but he only has eyes for his older brother.
He sees those tired silver eyes study him for a moment before they soften completely, turning into the color of liquid moonlight. "You brat," Er-ge murmurs affectionately, "The thought of you wielding that power is nothing short of terrifying."
"But er-ge! Can you leave me defenseless, just like that? Don't you feel sorry for me-"
"Huaisang!" Da-ge snaps, "Stop trying to manipulate your brother!"
"Really, a-Sang, it isn't right for you to-"
Er-ge laughs. It's familiar, loud, and openly joyous. Silver eyes sparkle as he looks at them, "Don't worry, da-ge, he's a hundred years too early to manipulate me."
Wangji-xiong huffs, "Wei Ying."
"Lan Zhan," Er-ge teases, "How is that you manage to reprimand me by only saying my name? Shall I try it too? Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan!"
"And they're flirting again." He murmurs under his breath, drawing an amused look from Xichen-ge.
"Perhaps we really need to start betrothal negotiations," Xichen-ge says and da-ge scoffs.
"Not going to happen unless you're willing to part with your brother. Mine is my heir. He's not marrying into the Lans."
"Da-ge, be reasonable-"
Huaisang tunes them out and waves his fan in front of his face, his mind whirling.
He doesn't care about er-ge's marriage negotiations. He has bigger fish to fry.
Really, those Jins and Jiangs are getting too bold.

i dont know what would cause this, but how about an au where the outcomes of the wen attacks on lotus pier and the cloud recesses are reversed? the jiang have some losses and more injuries, perhaps their sect leader is in hiding, but the twin jades of lan have lost everything
Wei Wuxian had stopped smiling.
It wasn’t that Lan Wangji didn’t understand why the cheerful disciple who never remembered pain that he had known at the Cloud Recesses was gone. The stories had reached even Gusu: Yunmeng’s Lotus Pier had been attacked, its defense breached, its buildings burned. They said the sect leader and his lady wife were both dead or in comas, lingering briefly before death; they said that the sect heir had disappeared with the sect’s treasures.
They said Wei Wuxian had tried to defend his home, and that they’d broken his leg for it.
Despite that, he was here – by choice, even, since he wasn’t officially a direct disciple of a clan. He didn’t count.
Jiang Yanli counted.
She was quiet and reserved, her manners excellent and her temperament calm; she was polite to everyone even as they distanced themselves from her as if she carried the plague. No one wanted to anger the Wens by showing favor to a sect they’d already shown themselves inclined against.
Wei Wuxian stalked her heels, weight heavier on one leg than the other, pain creasing his face into a constant scowl. He never let her leave his sight, not even for a moment; it was as if he had turned into a snarling dog, suspicious of everyone.
Lan Wangji missed the brightly smiling boy that had so occupied his thoughts.
Things were hard at the indoctrination camp. As Lan Wangji’s uncle had gloomily forecast, the Wens did not care about their hostages; they took their swords away and forced them to do work, often for many hours, as if they were simple laborers.
When the rations began to be reduced, the quality turning from merely mediocre to actively rotten, Jiang Yanli quietly offered that she could make soup if enough people turned their rations over to her.
Wei Wuxian turned his over at once, of course; there had never been any question about that. From everyone else, there was silence: they’d all practiced inedia, of course, but that couldn’t be done for too long – and what if someone took what little they had?
Lan Wangji walked over and offered up his plate.
Jiang Yanli smiled at him. “Thank you, Lan-er-gongzi. I promise you’ll enjoy it.”
He nodded silently. It wasn’t her smile he’d hoped to see.
“ – you can have mine, too,” another voice said, and Lan Wangji turned his head in surprise: it was Jin Zixuan, holding out his place. “I like soup better.”
His tone is defensive, almost as if he were afraid of being called out for his kindness.
Jiang Yanli’s smile spread, softening, and Lan Wangji hadn’t realized how formulaic the one aimed at him had been until he saw the real thing. “I’ll make sure it’s good, Jin-gongzi.”
He huffed and sat down some distance away, not looking at her.
Lan Wangji looked at Wei Wuxian, hunched over and staring at his hands, from the corner of his eyes and felt a sudden, unexpected stab of sympathy for Jin Zixuan. Perhaps it would be more accurate to describe it as a feeling of fellowship: they were in the same boat, it seemed.
The soup ended up being more delicious than Lan Wangji had expected – significantly so.
Even Jin Zixuan looked impressed. “You made this out of those ingredients?” he asked Jiang Yanli. “How?”
She smiled. “Do you have an interest in cooking, Jin-gongzi?”
He wrinkled his nose, that old Jin arrogance coming back in a sudden rush, and Lan Wangji could see, clear as crystal, the mistake he was about to make. Out of pity, he decided to intervene.
“I am interested,” he said, and Jiang Yanli turned her head to him with surprise in her eyes – not surprise at the professed interest, but surprise that suggested she’d entirely forgotten he was even there.
“I am, too!” Jin Zixuan put in at once. “I’ve always been curious as to what happens in the kitchens, but I’ve never been allowed to go too close.”
An obvious lie, particularly when it came to his professed interest in cooking, but Lan Wangji’s work was done. He listened to Jiang Yanli’s explanation of how she’d done it and slipped away when she offered to walk Jin Zixuan through the steps of how it was done the next evening, if he was interested.
He wasn’t expecting Wei Wuxian to follow him into the woods near their camp.
He reached a clearing, then turned to look at him.
“You’re a better choice than him, Lan-er-gongzi,” Wei Wuxian said. He looked tired. “But she likes him for whatever stupid reason. So don’t – don’t get your hopes up. You’re not going to get her attention.”
“I didn’t do it for that,” Lan Wangji said.
Wei Wuxian looked surprised. “Then why…?”
Lan Wangji shrugged.
Wei Wuxian came over to him and nudged his shoulder with his own. “Come on, Lan Zhan –”
It was Lan Zhan, still, despite everything, and Lan Wangji had never been happier to hear his own given name.
“– you can tell me. You’re not interested in how to cook pork bone soup – you Gusu people eat only vegetables whenever you can, don’t think I didn’t notice. If you didn’t do it to get shijie’s attention, why did you do it?”
He went on in this vein for a while, pestering, and eventually Lan Wangji gave in and explained.
“He needed the help.”
Wei Wuxian stared at him. A moment later, he laughed – unwillingly, the initial huff of laughter growing into a giggle, a snort, and finally succumbing to a full-bellied laugh.
“You’re right!” he exclaimed. “He does, oh, he really does, doesn’t he? He’s awful at this. The only thing that made him make a move at all was because he was drinking vinegar – oh, this is fantastic! You have to keep this up for a few days – at this rate, we’ll have them married by spring! I’ll owe you for this one, Lan Zhan; you ever need anything, you just ask me, okay?”
Lan Wangji looked at how Wei Wuxian was finally smiling again, and felt he’d done a good thing.
“Think nothing of it,” he said.
“I’m serious!” Wei Wuxian insisted. “We’re partners in crime now! If you ever need anything, anything, you come to me first. You hear me? Me first.”
Lan Wangji hummed lightly in agreement, thinking nothing of a light-hearted promise made under the moonlight. He did not expect he would ever think of it again, except perhaps in his dreams; he did not expect he would ever actually take Wei Wuxian up on his offer.
But when the Cloud Recesses burned and he had fled into the night, leaving his father’s corpse behind and carrying his brother’s broken body on his back –
He went to Yunmeng.

THE GHOST GENERAL || MDZS
Wen Ning × reader
Requested: Yes
Can you please do an x reader with Wen Ning best boy 🥺 maybe reader has had a crush on this fluff muffin since meeting at Cloud Recesses and how they react after he and Wei Wuxian come back, they're just kind of overwhelmed so they start to splur all their feelings 🙂
Requested by : rozesdance
WARNINGS: None - just my not so good English and a kiss in the end that's all . Pretty fluff pretty cute - could read to grandma - if she is into the drama only :) lol . Not so much based onto the actual drama plot but still accurate.
————————————————————————————
It was all so sudden .. you were a member of the Lan Clan Sect of Gusu and he was a member of Wen Clan Sect .
You knew having feelings for a person with such a family background wasn't ideal but you didn't care , what you did care about thought was the fact that there was nothing more than friendship between the two of you .
You attended classes with him and even thought he had a weaker spiritual power than yours he still did well on them .
You used to eat lunch with him , Wei Wuxian , Nie Huaisang , Jiang Cheng and Yanli and even sometimes you had the chance to eat with Jin Ling .
You all spend a lot of time together when your schedules aloud you to and had come pretty much closer than you could imagine .
There was times when Ning would drop by your room and play games with you or even try out some new music on guqin .
Your favorite moment of you together was when you went stargazing on the roof .
Wuxian had gave you some "emperor's smile " before hand and it was all you needed for that night , the soft breeze kissing your bodies and rushing its way through the leaves of the beautiful trees.
You did all you could possibly do to avoid thinking about how could things go if you to were together but nothing seemed to work, the moonlight covering his features in the most beautiful way . You shivered a little as a stronger breeze passed by making him eye to your direction before pulling you closer to his giant body . " are you cold ?" He asked and you tried to say otherwise just to end up covered like a burrito with him by your side in the next second .
" I would prefer watching the stars rather than staying in bed " you whispered playfully poking his side .
" I can open a hole on the roof if you want me to " he grinned widely making you giggle
" tststts .. really funny " you said sarcastically moving around and looking into his eyes leaving just the appropriate distance between your bodies to not make the situation uncomfortable later on .
The night went by rather peacefully full of laughs and smiles wishing it could last longer but everything good has to come to an end .
It's been 4 years since the last time you saw him after he left with Wei Wuxian for the Burial Mounds .
The bad news didn't take long to come to your ears the person you loved now is dead or a living dead to be correct, a puppet .
Has he been changed ? You thought.
Will he be able to recognize me ?
You paced back and forth into the small space of your room feeling the thin walls suffocating you .
You opened the door heading out to the yard , the rabbits jumping here and there lazily.
You decided to visit Lan Xicheng today a friend you haven't see for days , him been now Sect leader making it even more difficult to find time for hunging out .
On your way there you met Lan Wangji a smile decorating his face as he walked calmly.
" Lan Zhan ! " you called following behind him
" Are you going to Xicheng? " he asked making you nod
"I'm going there too " he spoke
" Wei Ying is coming here today to visit us with the Ghost General - I mean with Wen Ning " he continued speaking and your heart rushed a beat at the last name .
"Wen Ning is here too?" You asked waiting for an answer in order to feel reasured .
"Yes! In 30 minutes I believe they will have arrive " he ended his sentence with a small smile .
Both of you continued your wei to the main building before entering and taking a seat there waiting for the guests to arrive .
"They are here " a sect member announced moving away allowing both men to enter.
You lifted your head straight up to Ning's face .
Nothing is changed yet his face looks pale more than it used to be .
His features are a little sharper but he is mainly the same .
You bow your head as you make eye contact with him , giving him a shy smile .
His once red robe is now replaced by a black fabric & leather .
His calm face makes you less concerned about his situation .
Both of them take a seat in the room and after a refreshing meal you are free to go .
You are pulled aside on your way out.
Looking around you are taken by surprise coming face to face with the dark clothed man.
"May I have a moment with you ?" He asks taking your hand in his own .
"Mm- yes " you say stuttering a little.
He takes you out next to the 4.000 rules wall and you can do nothing but look I his eyes .
" I really don't know how to begin with but I believe this will do .." he says pausing for a short second
" I know you for so many years but I never had the chance to talk to you about it y/n .. I think - no basically I really like you-no I love you y/n " he breathes out and your mouth gapes open to his boldness
"my point is that I would really like to take you out on a date .. if you dont like dating we can get married if your family says so - I can do everything you want for us to be together just give me a chance " the words leave his mouth and you can no longer keep your mouth open .
You blink your eyes twice before trying to regain your composure .
"I like you too Wen Ning - no I love you , I always did" you say , brain to burned up to find the proper words to answer .
"So that means that you do want to be with me ? Be my wife even though of my situation?" He asks both to have you reassure him and maybe give you a moment of consideration but you know the answer before he finishes his sentence.
" Yes " you answer confidently.
" I want all that and much more " you look into his eyes before being pulled into a tight hug and a heated kiss that both of you will remember as the first step of your oh-so-dream-like long love story ~~

Episode 21 - The PTSD is strong with this one & we need more braincells
Hello hello! Welcome to the commentary. How’s everyone? I’m frozen solid because it’s mid-June in Spain and yet we had 11°C yesterday. Fucking awesome!
I AM NOT WEARING MASCARA SO I CAN CRY ALL I WANT. I DONT KNOW IF THATS GOOD OR BAD THO.
Can I just take a second to appreciate how much this big strong powerful men emote? I mean, I know this isn’t western media where the tough guy can’t show emotions, and I don’t know that eastern media has the same hangups about men emoting but just... it’s so refreshing.
Huaisang bb you’re so sweet.
Oh, oh the PTSD is strong with this one.
Also, bless both JC and NHS, they absolutely noticed WWX flinch and, in their own ways, went and steamrolled over it so WWX wouldn’t feel scrutinised.
WE INTERRUPT THIS BROADCAST TO INFORM YALL THAT I GOT A KITTEN ON MY LAP. (She’s kneading my boob, which, ow, but...)
*BICHEN GRIIIIIIIP*
How do y’all think the guards go deliver bad news to WRH? Like do they paper-rock-scissor it? Draw straws?
NMJ did you have to?
And once again I wonder what would’ve happened if JFM had let sect leader Yao kick it.
Ughvhfnevus it’s this clown. Same as with Su She, if you see a bunch of screaming it’s just me not wanting to listen to Jin ZiXun.
The Nies: let’s throw a banquet to honour WWX’s return
Every asshole there: *gossips about WWX while in the room with him*
Once again I wish I could transmigrate (and speak mandarin lol) and just start delivering tongue lashings.
Listen, I have no idea how to play Guqin, but I did play the guitar for years and even from here I can see how much YiBo’s hands don’t match the melody. Nothing against him but why does this always happen? I know they got classes, so was the music not written by that time or something? Because one thing is not hitting the correct notes, another is plucking slow notes when the tempo is much faster.
JC: Since yours and LWJ’s unhappy separation...
My dumbass: do you mean breakup? *eyebrow waggle*
You will pry my “JC knows his brother is pinning after LWJ, he probably doesn’t want to know anything else” hc out of my cold dead hands thankyouverymuch.
WWX: *spouts a bunch of misdirection to avoid giving JC a straight answer*
JC: Bull-fucking-shit.
Should I count how many times WWX PTSDs all over the place or would you like me to leave your hearts intact? That’s two so far.
Ok ok, I feel that, if someone with a bit less trauma and a bit of insight (NHS maybe?) had seen the bit where ChenQing fucking hurts Shijie thing would’ve gone differently. I mean, yes, LWJ keeps warning WWX that this shit is gonna fuck him up, but as I said in my previous commentary LWJ also has the communication skills of a hermit crab so that wouldn’t work, and JC would be too wound up and WWX too busy trying to conceal his lack of golden core for that conversation to go anywhere. But if someone who WWX knows is a good egg (I’m not gonna say trusts bc paranoia) had sat him down and told him “your new instrument that you use for your new form of cultivation just hurt the person you love most please be careful when you use it.” I think it would’ve worked wonders towards his health overall.
I know Shijie says it’s like Zidian, but she’s not working with the fact that this thing is made for and by the Dark Side of the Force and I’m sorry but I can’t help but see ChenQing as a bit of a horrocrux almost. Or like, if you like me think the Burial Mounds is an Entity, something that’s a bit more sentient that it lets on.
Speaking of reputations and NHS being a good egg, I have oh-so-many ideas (I won’t say plot bunnies because I can’t write for shit) in which NHS for Reasons (time-travel? Letter from the future? His massive brain?) realises just how much damage WWX is doing to his public image. And he might be a sheltered dandy, but he saw what being the son of a sex worker did to Meng Yao despite how hard he worked (I’m assuming he doesn’t know about the whole betrayal business). This is way fucking worse, like hell is he going to let one of his best friends paint a target on his back. So he pulls back his sleeves, engages his slytherin brain and proceeds to lay down a plan to throughly destroy WWX’s reputation as a powerful genius.
I’m guessing LWJ and JC protest, and maybe WWX, and NHS just hits them with “do you want him respected or alive?” And they shut tf up. He glues himself to WWX, and brings up as many instances in which their behaviour can be compared as he can (we got drunk and punished at cloud recesses, we slept in class, we skipped to go fishing, I don’t carry my sword either). And, because assholes be assholes, people like Sect Leader Yao or Clown Cousin are quick to start spouting their own derogatory bullshit and thus WWX the untamed powerful prodigy dies a fiery death. Now he’s just a mouthy kid with a quick mind that “does tricks instead of battle” (I’ll never get bored of using that Thor quote). I also like to think that people who personally know WWX and are not pieces of shit go give NHS a tongue lashing for messing with what they thought was his friend, NHS takes that as a test of good eggness and bring them into the plan. Soon the whole Cloud Recesses class is swearing up, down, left, right and centre that all the shit WWX has ever successfully pulled is just an insane amount of luck and quick thinking.
I don’t know how would they work him into the battlefield (disguise? Mask?) to unleash his demonic cultivation but that’s Plot and I don’t do that.
Also, because I’m a terrible human being I want to say that people assume LWJ is on “pretty but useless” WWX like white on rice because *insert derogatory comment about being good in bed and sexual favours*. Because y’all know the assholes here are Like That. And WWX is horrified because holy fucking shit he’s gonna drag LWJ’s reputation down, he can’t have people thinking HGJ is ok with having him as a concubine pretty much. But before he can act LWJ politely all but confirms that yeah, he’s tapping that, y’all wish you were but he doesn’t share and none of y’all are good enough for his Wei Ying anyway. CUE FAKE/PRETEND RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE I AM INDEED TRASH FOR THAT TROPE.
Muahahahaha y’all thought I was gonna devolve into my personal hcs and not include my fave trope? Shouldn’t y’all know me better by now?
(Btw I like this bit ^ so I might polish it a little and post it separately as well, just a warning if you find yourself reading an eerily similar post by me)
WuJi is playing and LWJ is pining so much. Also, if LWJ did not just realise that, just like Yu the Great, WWX had no other option but tame resentful energy I’ll eat my blanket.
I refuse to believe Jiang Yanli didn’t become the unofficial war camp therapist/sounding board/only sane person/everyone’s mum/I just need a hug and a corner to cry in peace. There are not enough fics about Shijie being her gentle BAMF self while in the camp and it’s a pity. My crops are dying y’all!
Also, I will fight anyone who scoffs at Shijie being the epitome of the “gentle woman who cooks and waits for the men to come back from war”. Look at her mum, do you think it is easy for a kid (she was a kid in the flashback when WWX ran away) to see that day in and day out, to have that as a “role model” and decide that she was not going to be like her mum? That she didn’t like what she saw in her so she was going to be kind and gentle? And do you think it is easy for a person barely in their twenties to deal with years of verbal and psychological abuse for again, being gentle and kind, and not grow a hard shell of bitterness to protect themselves? And to keep being gentle and kind while at war, with your parents dead and your siblings unraveling before your very eyes? Shijie is so fucking strong and I love her.
Hey look, the White Walkers!
“Resentful energy is just energy” ok, valid. But my dude, you’ve got black ghost smoke coming out of you and can hear people screaming in your head. I’m not saying it is evil, like someone’s uptight set in his ways arrogant uncle; but it sure as shit ain’t healthy.
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH (that’s a Clown Cousin scream btw)
Ok ok, just one little thing: IF SOMEONE ELSE CALLS WWX WEI YING AS A SHOW OF DISRESPECT IMMA SCALP THEM.
...are those crows eating that man alive? Yikes on bikes.
(Assume my comment about YiBo’s Guqin playing also goes for Xiao Zhan and his flute. I can’t play the flute but the tempo doesn’t match his fingers)
I’m just gonna say it, I think 3zun (well, 2zun as of now) suspect shit went down badly for WWX, that’s two questions by both of them in a very soft conciliatory tone. They are genuinely interested/worried about the topic, and don’t seem to come off as chiding or judgemental. I mean WWX is a weirdo irreverent kid and they’re sect leaders, they outrank him so much it’s ridiculous. I’m also counting the fact that both their baby brothers like him towards them being so kind. But I also think WWX just triggers all their big brother instincts the second he walks in.
Oh there’s a thought, Shijie, Wen Qing, NMJ and LXC take a look at everyone’s shitty parents and just decide to adopt everyone.
What happened at Yiling was a traumatised teenager (is WWX even 20?) PTSDing all over the place with the Dark Side of the Force whispering in his ear and an all powerful trinket at his disposal. Not saying I approve of all the torture and murder but he clearly isn’t revelling in them.
That is some outstanding bit of big-brothering on LXC’s side and I love it. Also, my dumbass just realised LWJ probably wasn’t quoting WWX when he was being punished (what is white what is black?) I think he was quoting his big brother. Which is magnitudes deep too, but in a different direction and I might love that scene even more.
Ok fuck it, I’m gonna tangent. So I had a terrible boyfriend when I was 15-18. He alienated me from my friends, sunk my self-esteem to the molten core of the earth, tried to convince me my parents were abusive and encouraged (aka threatened manipulated and cajoled) the slow tanking of my high school marks. I have A Problem when I see media where someone latches onto their significant other and everything they are shifts towards that person. Now, love, true genuine love, is powerful, and I believe it can be the catalyst for shifting your world-view for the better. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t have a problem with people sticking with their romantic partner if it is clear their previous “family” is so much shit. I don’t have a problem with LWJ coming out of his shell and defying corrupt precepts because his love for WWX made them see they were wrong, or getting sassy and unrepentant during his punishment (I have a problem with the punishment bc that’s abuse but...). But I do side-eye WangXian being the only thing in their orbit. People need people, and WangXian have other good people around them. So I kind of love that yes, WWX showed him the system was corrupt, but it is the words of his brother he is sticking by to the defy said system.
Let’s go back to our scheduled slew of held pinning glances shall we?
LXC after That awkward run-in: WangJi I wasn’t gone that long, what the fuck did you two oblivious pining idiots do?
(LXC has “bitching” tea sessions with Shijie and you can’t convince me otherwise)
LWJ: *is being dramatic and not knocking on WWX’s door*
Me: oh my god you fucking idiot
Shijie: *walks in*
Me: oh thank god someone with a braincell.
Ah yes, there we go triggering WWX’s paranoia again. Why would he get a break.
OH MY GOD YOU PAIR OF FUCKING IDIOTS. THATS IT, FUCK THIS SHIT IM OUT.
@ LWJ: bitch wtf was that? I know you’re shit at talking but have you thought about writing it down? Letters anyone? It worked for mr. Darcy.
(Yes LWJ is mr darcy and now I want an au where LWJ writes WWX letters and just pours everything in them, WWX finds them, any everything is sunshine and rainbows)
While this bullshit fight/misunderstanding is all on LWJ’s shoulders, I’m also going to scream at WWX. Because yes, he is in PTSD hell, but he trusted LWJ before, and yet he can’t get past his perceived notion of LWJ’s character (and his own inadequacies) to trust him again and ask for help. Plus, you know, he thinks he doesn’t deserve he’ll bc *waves hand at WWX’s trauma conga line*
These episodes can’t be good for my BP.
Thanks for reading!
