reading benjamin poindexter's file, persephone couldn't help a slight sting of envy. her marksmanship skills are the best among the ranks of the unseen — god knows she worked like hell to get there, and the unnatural steadiness of her mechanical arms helped push her over the edge and become the tower's right hand. but this is different. from what she's read, poindexter is able to perfectly calculate the ricochet of a projectile in a split second before he launches it. that's a skill she'd kill to see in action. but orders are orders, and she has been told to proceed with caution. worst case scenario, get up close and fight hand-to-hand.

have begun my bg3 playthrough and for once ive tried to keep from spoiling myself too bad so astarion's intro was a delight

the people have spoken! Furret walks again (though on two legs in this gen!)

I did a little extra research since it's been a long while since I used the pokewalker, and it looks like Normal is an advantageous type at the Town Outskirts location, so that's where we're going :) You can even find wild Furret there! Though this particular one is my Sucker Punching buddy from a team of underused mons I used sometimes in the Battle Arcade.

I plan on switching up who I'm walking about once a week, so Cyndaquil will be up next. The goal is to eventually unlock the final location, Quiet Cave, where there is a chance of a wild Spiritomb encounter (a mon I never got for my dex!) But if I'm understanding the guide right, I need another 86,662 watts (w) to unlock that place (1 w = 20 steps). Good thing I walk a lot at work 😅

Abuse??? the old couple being greedy??? pecharunts friends???? not to be autistic as hell but literally none of that happened??

the old couple loved pecharunt like their own son because they straight up didnt have any kids

pecharunt being like. a runt. a child. thought "wow this is great lemme get more of this" because it's literally a child with crazy powers who definitely doesn't understand the consequences of its actions yet, poor thing

the old couple didnt tell it to do ANY of that until the mochi and i quote "draw out the greed of anyone who ate them". thats literally what it does.

"they were just like that on the inside" no i dont think so, who DOESNT have greed within them? you are not free from greed. you literally see in the beginning how much they truly loved this lil guy

and you then literally see pecharunt doesnt "make friends" it obtained allies to use through the poison, it LITERALLY says that.

Theres a big BIG emphasis on the chains that are on all three of them !! it's the chains that come OUT of pecharunt!! it's ability isn't "Poison Puppeteer" for no reason. It's signature move isn't MALIGNANT chain for no reason either!!

I mean. Let's look at the other facts about the Loyal three such as the Scarlet Dex entries:

"After all its muscles were stimulated by the toxic chain around its neck, Okidogi transformed and gained a powerful physique."

"The chain is made from toxins that enhance capabilities. It stimulated Munkidori's brain and caused the Pokémon's psychic powers to bloom."

"Fezandipiti owes its beautiful looks and lovely voice to the toxic stimulants emanating from the chain wrapped around its body."

In the in game lore it tells you that they didn't always look like this, and the chains changed them AND, you guessed it, brought out their inner desires. Their greedy desires. So do you see how the old couple literally were never greedy, they didn't demand this as they were under pecharunts influence? there was no abuse??? and they did NOT get its friends killed either!! They didn't even know!!

Look how at the end of the DLC everyone is no longer under the effects and they have no idea how they got there. They only remember the moments before the mochi. So the real kicker isn't "oh how tragic pecharunt was in an abusive family and its friends were killed cus of their greed", oh no the kicker is:

Pecharunt was nothing but a child with an evil power that it clearly didn't know how to use, or didn't even intend for it to be used for such evil. It did what it thought was right, for the love of the only two people that it had known, only for it to lead to it's own downfall and the downfall of three other Pokemon who succumbed to the poison. Furthermore, Pecharunt never came home. Those old couple woke up not having a clue where Pecharunt, the pokemon they loved as a son, had gone off to and they died not knowing (this is an ancient tale after all). Hell, Pecharunt probably doesn't even know they're dead either. Nobody wins.

Bad little kids

Gorgug: The only time Gorgug’s parents have ever put their hands on him was when he was about to touch scolding hot iron. It was just a quick panicked wrist swat that was immediately regretted by Wilma but Gorgug was so in shock he just started crying because all he knew is that he hit things when he was mad, so that must mean she’s mad at him.

Riz: Riz had an imaginary friend that looked eerily familiar to Baron. This Baron (at the time named something else.) They used to watch Scooby-doo together, solves “cases” together. They were best friends. Riz didn’t even notice the similarities between the old friend and Baron until Baron brought up their “past”.

Fabian: Was taught to swim by being enthusiastically thrown into the pool everyday and being cheered on by Bill. It worked on after awhile, But during the time he was still figuring it out, he would randomly launch himself into the pool as if he’d magically learn how to swim. This led to a couple instances of him almost drowning, but it didn’t stop him.

Fig: Didn’t know Gilear had a name other than ‘dad’ until someone asked what her dad’s name was. She had no idea, she knew people called him things that weren’t dad but she never really paid attention to that. That same day she asked him and was flabbergasted upon finding out his name was ‘Gilear’

Kristen: Wanted to take dance lessons, she loved to dance even if she was terrible at it (low dex). She asked her parents to sign her up for it but apparently she had too go to church on the days that they were available. It got worse after she was chosen, she didn’t have time for anything. All those speeches and talking to the priests and trying to contact Helio, she eventually kind of forgot about it.

Wilma and Digby sit Gorgug down and apologise so much. Explain that they didnt mean to hit him but they were in a panic because he was about to do something that would hurt him and that they'd never do it again. It's the beginning of them teaching him that he also shouldnt hit things when he's mad, even if he really really wants to, because he could hurt someone accidentally and they'd feel like he did when Wilma accidentally hit him. It goes a long way to helping Gorgug get good control over his anger.

Riz still sees Baron sometimes, out of the corner of his eye or in reflective surfaces. Its not all the time, but sometimes when he's tired and he's stressed the nightmare creature is able to manifest a little more strongly than before.

On one of his late nights in junior year he's sitting in his living room, trying to get through his homework and also check some of his friends at the same time. He's exhausted and bordering on delerious but once he's done he's planning on actually going to sleep.

The television is off but is reflecting the room around it on the blackened screen, Riz is too tired to flinch when a boney finger taps on the other side of the screen. Barons face materialising out of the darkness and making the glass bend outwards slightly as he presses against it from the inside.

"Perhaeps you should taek a break Riz Gukgak~ Let me free from your briefcaes and we can waetch some caretoons together liek we used to."

He's not going to make the same mistake he did the first time he saw Baron, breaking the glass would only set it free and thats what it wants. Riz gets up off the floor slowly, walks over to the boxy old television, and flips it around so the screen is facing the wall before going back to his homework. The move is effective, no more reflective surface means no more Baron means he can get this shit done and go to sleep.

Its only in the morning that he pieces together what Baron actually said and he has a little bit of a crisis about it.

Bill was lucky Cathilda was basically Fabians shadow when he was a little boy. On MANY an occasion she had to dive into the pool and haul him out because he'd sunk like a stone and wasnt coming back up. He worked it out eventually, but still enjoyed it when his dad randomly hurled him into the pool to test if he could swim yet.

As soon as Fig found out her dads name was Gilear she never called him anything else. She would correct people all the time whenever they were talking about her dad without using his name too.

Kristens dex is STILL terrible but once Fabian started learning how to dance she begged him to teach her some. She's still absoloutly terrible and they have to make sure nothing breakable is in the room but she can do a couple simple dances without doing too much damage now. There are some songs that give Fabian PTSD flashbacks from their lessons now though.

Summary: After a couple weeks, Livia decides to open Frank’s letter.

You were seated back on your rooftop. You had stayed out there the night prior, while the moon was at her peak. You had taken up the routine of talking to the moon in the late hours of the night, hoping Matt was on the other side and he was talking back despite knowing he wasn’t.

Dex had left for work after having stayed the night. You had physical therapy later that day, one of four sessions every week. You were also required to do traditional therapy to ensure there was no lingering trauma, but you were able to use Curtis’ support group for that requirement.

Karen tried calling ever since you were discharged but you hardly answered. Usually it was just a run in with her every few days when she felt the urge to come check for Matt’s suit. You grew more and more irritated with her intrusions since you knew he wasn’t coming back. Yet she still came, still pried that wound open again.

You felt suffocated, like all of your pain - both physical and emotional - were massive waves that crashed into you and knocked you down everytime you thought you could stand.

There was no relief, no healing. You were broken. You were tempted to even slide off your rooftop and let Matt’s God decide for you. But you didn’t. You didn’t because… Well you didn’t quite know why, but something about death didn’t seem so appealing anymore.

Instead, you opened Frank’s letter.

since in the comments of my ask about the white save i mentioned this abandoned platinum save i got, here it is!

the lowest date pokemon is from june 2008, the highest date.... 2049? theres three tropius from 2049, and while there are other 2049 pokemon -- wait, i take that back, theres 1 marill from 2099 - but the fact all three tropius are from then startles me (about the 2049) the most. however, the highest not in the future date is jan 2013 -- however, given the obvious time travel shenanigans, im not sure how much we should trust this

also -- this caused me to learn that tropius is NOT a starter pokemon? while i like pokemon i havent played most of the games (and esp dont know too much about the pre-hgss ones), and ive been assuming that tropius is a starters final stage evolution, and seeing these tropius from 2049 at lv28 made me think, "is this legit"? and doing internet search... i found its not a starter? or even in an evolution line? what the hell. this is probably well known to you but its really weird and surprising to me

but anyways, since this file was so close to completing the regional dex, and i wanted to be able to get japanese dittos from this save before transferring every pokemon over, i completed the dex here, which makes me feel a bit of attachment to this file...

the playtime is in the 80s (not saying full number as my usage of this file mightve added an extra hour or two to it)

YEAHHH MORE OLD SAVE FILE EXPLORATION!! i wonder why time travel was used so severely on this file? i remember once my sister messed with my ds time without me knowing and all it did was make join avenue's shops not reset for a day in bw2. i dont think time travel does anything in pokemon? probably time traveling for a different game and didnt switch it back for when they booted up this one is my guess

also honestly? thinking tropius wasnt a single stage isnt too out there, it really does feel like it should evolve from something. i hope it gets a regional evo or something like that... its a really nice pokemon its just so underappreciated!! needs a buff or something So badly

Does he track Valentin down, and how, or is what follows immediately after being saved and stable again also diverging from canon? After getting his bullet extracted, Val stayed a couple of days at camp; he couldnt really do much in his state, plus the caldos wouldnt just simply let him go like that

Mitch and Scorp were keepin an eye on him, they were responsible of him after all; if Val turned out to be a danger to the clan, they would've finished the job, succeeding where Dex failed

Val eventually woke up, and he was asked a couple of basic, straight forward question by Mitch; his name, where he's from, and what happened. Val didnt lie, but he also didnt mention the whole -arasaka- thing. He might be a gonk, but he's not dumb; saying that his failed gig was an heist on Arasaka, when every radios and tv stations been blasting about Saburo's death for the path days wouldnt be a smart move fhksjgj

It was all over the news- and Dex probably left Night City too (< at that time he wasnt aware Takemura killed him yet. Dex took Goro to the dump, only to find it completly empty. He got popped before he could swear he left him here hfjd)

Infos and Rumors goes around extremely fast in NC, especially between fixers, so Dexter departure/disappearance and Saburos death wasnt a coincidence at all; so was Jackie's and Valentin's potential death. (Jackie being confirmed dead cause he sent his body to his fam, but people had no idea where Val was)

He had to get back to NC, to Viktor, Misty- his friends, the only people he had left over there

That night at camp, Valentin experienced the Johnny Night TM; of course, he freaked out, screaming and talking "to himself" - Ripper wasnt far, knew the screams where coming from the nursery and quickly gave injected him some tranquilizer

In the morning, not sure whatever happened was a dream or not, he asked Mitch and Scorp (not friends yet, but the only guys he knew around) if someone could drive him back to NC- Dakota was still around and since she had to go back to her Garage soon, he could tag along and she'd get one of her guy to drive him to Vik's

During the drive, he explained to Dakota what happened, from the heist, the relic, Jackie- ans the weird dreams he's been getting (she's like a mother figure to him, a trusted friend)

She didnt liked any of that and pressed him to get checked properly asap, hoping this might be a virus that can get easily wiped out

Once at Vik, everyone was happy and relieved to see him alive "and well", but it quickly changed when Viktor took a closer look, obviously

He also mentioned that a guy, kinda sus looking, came in looking for him the day before. Said he could help him if he ever show up. (Takemura is a resourceful guy, I'm pretty sure he could pin down V's main ripperdoc to ask questions- and Viktor, knowing that Jackie did die, would trust Takemura's story and information since it correlate with what Vik knows)

So they make contact and eventually meet up at Tom's Diner like the canon timeline 👁����👁

Despite all the years its still a ROUGH MAP AND TIMELINE FHJSJF that I really need to properly put down 💀💀 BUT YEAH FHDJ

The black swan's initial attempt at project moonlark, which failed

smthing went wrong when they were messing around with the abilities and as a result fern doesnt have an ability

the black swan realized that smthing was wrong shortly after their birth (not inception) and were like,,, well shit

they decided to just keep an eye on them from a distance and hope they didnt find their skills

then they went to work on sophie

fern did in fact figure out their skills when they were abt 8, but kept them a secret (which wasnt too hard to do bc their parents were kinda sucky and paid no attention to them)

they are technically a genius by human standard but they also kept that hidden bc they decided being a social outcast wasnt worth it

also they like artsy creative stuff more so they just didnt care enough to go beyond their grade level

one of the reasons they werent found by anyone

they eventually get brought into the elven world around the end of neverseen when forkle lets it slip that they exist

and sophies like "we're not leaving them in the human world i remember how awful it was for me"

so sophie and fitz go to get them bc they figure that sophie will be able to explain it since shes been on the other side of it and fitz has done it before

and imagine their surprise bc theyre expecting some girl whos similar to sophie and tries to blend in and they find this brightly dressed genderflood

but they adjuct accordingly and fern agrees to go bc yeah sure they have friends and connections that they care abt in the human world but nothing substantial enough to keep them tied down

so now theyre in the elven world and theyre friends with the crew bc everyone else thinks of them as the freaky green-haired elf who was raised by humans - kind of similar to sophie but fern doesnt have abilities which also makes ppl dislike them

however they dont join the black swan bc they value their life, thank you very much, and they dont want to fight a terrorist organization

they still end up involved half the time though

they bond with tam over this, bc he didnt want to join in the first place

they end up being the closest with tam and fitz

and theyre good friend w dex (bc they take full advantage of the hair changing elixirs) and biana (bc they are totally willing to do makeover selfcare nights with her at everglen) and sophie (bc they can relate to each other w the raised by humans thing)

also friends with the rest of the crew but not as close and doesnt rly like keefe for reasons they wont elaborate on, but is still civil with him and tams the only one who knows abt it

Im 20something hours into bg3 but I might need to restart. I didnt realise there was a toggleable option to allow multiclassing so I cannot multiclass myself or anyone else. In dnd I tend to multiclass a lot. And im really struggling w party composition only being four, everyone only really has one specialty and I never know am I going into combat or somewhere trapped do I need arcana or beast speech. Level four and no multiclassing, Im getting the itch.

Im inexperienced in this size of game, Ive never put 20+ hours into something and then restarted completely. So its intimidating. But Im also playing warlock which I chose because Im not super familiar with it, but I am struggling with how to play it. Picked up a decent sword and make it my pact weapon but dont have hp to tank, dont have enough spells to do big damage or good support. I like a charisma/dex build but maybe I go rogue or paladin (idk if dex paladin works in the game) or Ive never played a bard, they have a lot more spells.

Also not that many subclass options but I get it the games already huge. (Like I wanted to diguise self as thr goblin prisoner and waltz into the goblin camp but nope cant be a specific person, only a "masc or femme" of a race. Like thats still a binary. I guess they could be trans and we'd never know but like. Its like how some games (this one?) just swaps the word gender for style) (also let me play a fat character boo)..
