For the ask rarepair ship game thingy.. what are your thoughts on sumitri and/or viojohnny :3c
I like viojohnny cuz I feel like their personalities would match well. Or I just see them as exes lmao
I am a HUGE fan of BOTH ships!! Let me answer both!!
Suzy and Dimitri was a ship made all the better by Chapter 8, in my opinion. I've always been a bit into the idea of a poly J-Club, but my investment in ships between the three of them only increased when we got to see Suzy and Dimitri in isolation. The two have such a strong foundation in canon, you know? Dimitri is so willing to go along with Suzy's shenanigans! Even when he's actively sabotaging her spying on Max in Chapter 5, it's comedic and lighthearted! Also, there are few things more tragic than having to contend with someone you love moving away. ESPECIALLY when you're that young. Suzy and Dimitri have a cute, strong relationship with each other that regardless possesses an emotional weight that I LOVE to think about. While I think these two are careening towards a bit of a tragedy in their relationship (Suzy's going to find out eventually), I don't think they're going to have an unhappy ending. They strike me as a pair who could spend their whole lives together, going from place to place, whether it's a romantic thing or not.
VIOJOHNNY IS REALLY FUNNY. I'm a huge fan of these two as a ship, which means it's hard for me to know what to say about them. I think they have potential on a comedic level AND a level of sincerity. The comedy would definitely come from the fact Violet is on Team Jeff, and would have to deal with the fact that despite it all, Johnny is the freak she has a crush on. But they're also really interesting without that!! They're both incredibly headstrong people, just in different ways. They wouldn't take any shit from each other (Violet canonically doesn't), which is how I think they'd eventually end up respecting each other. Or, Johnny would respect Violet first 'cuz of her moxie. I think they'd clash a lot, but that that's the only way they'd be able to have something healthy with each other. They can keep each other humble. I LOVE your exes interpretation, I think hostile exes Viojohnny is one of the best things I've ever heard in my life, BUT!! I'm personally into a relationship between them developing after Johnny becomes a full-fledged spectral. Johnny would light himself on fire in front of Violet and then cave after about three seconds of questioning. In a scenario in which Johnny is too in his own lane to join the Activity Club (and Violet is maaaayyybe the new spectral after Johnny but there's no canon basis for that), I could see the two being their own duo. Wanting answers and for things to work out, but distrustful of the Consortium's caginess.
Also, mall goth x punk. Need I say more?

if it’s not too late, 12 for episodes and ships, and 17!
its never too late! thankyou for the ask 🥰 oo damn this is gonna be a hefty one, just to prepare you this is gonna be long 😅😅😅
spoiler alert for my friends who are finishing up season 2 rn, be careful if you look at my top five episodes, pay attention the the episode numbers, i will put [ ] in bold at the beginning and end of spoilers!
12. Top 5 ships
5. faith x myself because have you seen faith? shes such a babe! spare consensual kiss maam?
4. willow x oz, i dont know if this is an unpopular or not but i feel like if the 90s had been more accepting of term then willow wouldve been bisexual, but like even now tv shows will rarely let characters say that word :( but anyway i love them! theyre both quirky and kinda awkward but its such a sweet relationship and you really see how they go from awkward crushes to an actual deep relationship, oz is one of my favourite characters too what a dude!
3. giles x jenny, mlmxwlw solidarity in this bisexual couple! there is no an ounce of straight between them and i love it, i love their dynamic, i love that giles *respects women* (im staring daggers at xander rn), also the original girlboss x malewife couple askdjaksjhd
2. drusilla x spike, these two!!!!!! once again a bisexual couple with zero straight between them, the vibes are off the charts. sexy vampires, goth x punk love, i just love them man, and their relationship is so interesting to delve into. like theyre vampires, theyre soulless and yet they have a capacity for love, they care deeply for eachother, theyre so tender towards eachother in season 2 in the way they take turns to care for one another, also drusilla picking spike up with one hand made me gay and thats on that
1. willow x tara!!!!! lesbians man lesbians! they have a beautiful relationship, until a certain point wink wink, they feel like a perfect match, willows become more outgoing due to buffy and xander snd having a proper group of friends, so its cool to see her as the more outgoing independant one in the relationship, and tara is such a honey 🥺 the biggest sweetheart in the world what a babe!!!! also like how groundbreaking was their relationship? as a queer couple, they had p much the dame amount of screentime as a aueer relationship today! and willow says the word lesbian so many times and is always making gay jokes which is something shows today are too scared to do, its honestly refreshing which is weird for a show in the 90/00s
12. Top 5 episodes
this is so hard because its such a damn good show so i had to rlly be picky about this but here we go
5. 6x22 ‘grave’- i watched buffy for the first time last year at work coz i worked with one other person just packing shit, and THIS was the episode that made us cry infront of eachother. the scene with willow and xander at the end is one of my all time favourite scenes and like legit we were watching and we starting going like ha.. this is so sad Q_Q and we looked at eachother and we were both crying akdjdjsjdhs its SO GOOD, like this is a friendship ive been so invested in and [seeing xander be able to pull her back from that dark place was so heart wrenching and amazing god its so good]
4. 3x12 ‘helpless’ - im finishing up s2 in my rewatch rn so i havent rewatched this one to double check but i remember loving it man. buffys father daughter relationship with giles is my favourite of the whole show they make my heart ache, so i love that this is an episode that really shows you how dedicated giles is to her, [its the breaking point where he finally disregards the fact that hes a watcher and acts as her father once and for all, its a turning point for their relationship where he is finally embracing the fact that shes like a daughter to him and i just love to see it Q_Q get you a dad who will leave his lifes calling for you]
3. 4x22 ‘restless’ - season 4 is interesting coz it has really good episodes and them some gd awful ones 😂😂 but this one just blew me away, i love a good character study episode and this is THE SHIT! its so weird and creepy but in the most perfect way, its not on the nose its so subtle, it feels like an uncanny valley version of buffy almost, i like that they finished the season first and then took this episode to do something out of the box and different i feel like it lets them fully explore this idea without the pressure of needing plot included. [also the cheese man is iconic. dont however like xander being all nasty with willow and tara but whats new there man]
2. 1x12 ‘The Prophecy Girl’ - for my first watch of buffy i wasnt that into the first season, like i enjoyed it but i didnt think it was anything super special? but this episode changed EVERYTHING for me. up until now buffy had been fun, witty, charming, but not anything new atleast for me, maybe in the 90s it was but right now its your average teen supernatural show. but this episode!!!! the emotion! buffy facing her death, her speech about how shes just 16 and shes scared and she doesnt want to die, that is what i wanna see!! its heartbreaking and it made me cry, and then it gives us the wonderful moment of giles trying to take her place and buffy realising that she has to be the one to do it, man its so good! basically anything with buffy and giles being a duo is gonna make it an automatic yes from me and this is indeed the case for this episode, i just love that the show remembers that shes a child! shes not brave all the time, shes not strong all the time, shes just doing her best and sometimes its overwhelming, 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 i bow to this episode
1. 2x17 ‘passion’ - i know i just sang praises about prophecy girl but THIS EPISODE IS THE SHIT, the best episode full stop. i wont accept any argument. angel is probably my favourite big bad, its so funny to see plain bread, mopey brooding angel become this charismatic, funny, poetic, blood thirsty angelus, hes everything i want in a villain and in this episode he delivers! rip jenny tho love her. i think the tension built around angel is so good, because of his drawings and notes left around, every scene youre worrying like is he here now? are they safe or what? its so tense! and also it is me and im a slag for buffy x giles father daughter moments and this episode fucking delivers! giles discovering jennys dead body is probably one of the best scenes on the show, the dramatic irony is heAVY, we know jenny is dead, we know that these flowers arent from her, but giles is so so happy, and i want to see him happy but you just know somehing horrific is about to happen and damn does it. its a masterpiece! i love jenny and giles so much it is so sad, but also the fact that it gave us that scene makes me almmmoost ok with it? i also love the moment where giles breaks down in buffys arms, hes been there for her and now shes returning the favour and hes accepting it i just 😭😭😭 also on a different note, angels narration of this episode is amazing! it gives us great insight to who he is as “evil angel” and like even though hes awful i was also kind of rooting for him coz hes just such a great villain
sorry this is so long lmao, last question!
17. Which characer do you wish had less of a focus on them in the show?
i dont wanna get yelled at butttttt i dont like the amount of focus on dawn. i think it makes sense for the her first season considering the story arc but that season really does double down its focus onto dawn and buffy and it barely leaves room for anyone else to have a storyline, it keeps the episodes super depressing too its like a constant level of just sadness the whole time because we’re so stuck in THEIR arc, theres no room to balance it out and have a breather, some people might like that its more serious but i really really didnt like, i love episodes like prophecy girl where it is campy and brings the more emotional notes in when the time comes, but dawns whole arc is just constantly depressing the whole time i just hate it, and also just shes not a character i felt i could connect to because of how suddenly shes introduced, so its weird to have her SO focused on in the first half of that season coz we dont know her yet so i feel like the emotional moments dont land the way that they should? basically they shouldve eased us into dawn or introduced her differently and maybe i would like her enough to want the focus on her but i really just dont
adksjakjshd apologies for the essay this is, thanks for the ask!

Rank the Fruits Basket ships?
thanks for the ask! i don’t know if you meant canon ships or the ones i wanted so here’s a mix! (ranking things is so hard i did the best i could lol)
kyoru - this is obviously my first pick. they are soulmates, they love eachother so unconditionally and are so ready to PROTECT. their parallels are crazy and the way they fall in love so slowly is my favorite thing. there are so many elements that make them extraordinary and such an incredible love story, but if we take the “fantasy” elements out of it they’re also just two teenagers! that’s one of my favorite things about them-- the way they flirt and are so playful with eachother, how awkward and messy they are sometimes expressing affection but how earnest they are to do so!
tohrin - listen. i’m obsessed. i think about them all the time. i think about writing them all the time. there are so many parallels between them and also between their partners in canon. i like to say they’re two sides of the same coin because i believe their inner worlds are much, much similar than their exterior lead to think. i love the way they’re a TEAM and so brave and so smart and so ready to protect people??? the size of their hearts????? unmatched. so ready to give love even if isuzu shies away from it (much like tohru being unable to ask for help). i strongly believe they are best friends in canon and the way isuzu is so protective of tohru and even suggests she should leave kyo so she can still live close to her?????????? phew. girlfriends of the year. soft and goth. tsundere and deredere. light and dark. need i go on? they’re the perfect match.
yuchi - I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. GOD. i think my favorite thing about them is how relatable and “conventional” they are in a way? what we see from them in the series is a completely normal high school relationship, because yuki doesn’t seem to reveal the curse to her before it’s broken (if we are to assume). they’re really really similar: it’s so obvious to me that yuki helps her sort out her feelings and put everything in place because he’s already started that journey. but also machi helps him go through with it and start seeing himself as someone able to care, someone people can lean on, someone who can love, etc. they help eachother see how valuable they are, to themselves and other people.
hana x uo x tohru - ENDGAME POLY!!!!!!!!! listen if you didn’t get major sapphic throuple vibes in the entirety of hana’s backstory.... i don’t know what to tell you. i’d watch a whole series of them just going through high school together and discovering the dynamics of their relationship. i wouldn’t even mind if the sohmas weren’t around. give me best friends give me sapphics give me polyamori. god the possibilites... the potential. and they’re also a little bit in love already.
yukeru - LOVE THEM!!!!! they’re a great great great duo. they both bring growth to the other and are a fundamental step in their personal journeys. also i adore the way they rub off on eachother and how kakeru is able to bring out the inner asshole in yuki. they have amazing scenes. in my head they’ve definitely (AT LEAST) banged in canon. idc.
ritsu x mitsuru - a lesbian couple and a trans woman??????? i CANNOT express how much i love them and how starved i am for more content. the new scenes included in the anime gave me life. they’re just two shy, fumbling women who downright admire eachother. i think they’re so so so cute.
hatsuzu - i really like them But. i do think there are some unhealthy traits about their relationship (even if by the end of the series isuzu states that she wants to better herself and their relationship-- which is super interesting and something i’d like to see more in media!) i think they have a lot of potential and i would have loved to see them working through their “issues”. (she depends too heavily on him and i really wasn’t a fan of their first kiss ((the whole “you don’t want me?” thing when haru knows just how scared and self conscious isuzu is... eh :/ )) anyway goth bisexual power couple step on me with your punk boots!
mayutori - i don’t have any problems with them even if i think it would have been interesting for them to develop some other kind of relationship that wasn’t romantic. also weird to me the way hana connects to both of them so idk. but i do think they are compatible and make a really cool duo.
ayame x mine - i mean i like the fact that we know ayame gets pegged.
there’s also hiro x kisa but they’re children so i don’t really "ship” them. & then akigure and uo x kureno.... hm. even if i do like and enjoy some aspects of both relationships i simply can’t ignore their age gaps,, and other things. (i won’t even consider kyoko and katsuya because that’s disgusting)

Bloody Hammers Pay Tribute to NY Punk with ‘Songs Of Unspeakable Terror’
~By Willem Verhappen~
Tumblr media
From the early German movies of the 1920s and the Universal monsters of the '30s, through the haunted house flicks of the '40s and the creature features of the '50s to the exploitation of the '60s, the Eurotrash of the '70s, and '80s slashers, I'm a sucker for old horror movies. I could probably write a book, or at least a lengthy essay, about it. And just like my other movie passions, sci-fi and '80s action movies (and yet Jason X can bugger off to the early-2000s grave it belongs), that love seeps through in my music taste.
I've been an Alice Cooper fan for about as long as I can remember and more modern exponents of horror-infused rock like Rob Zombie and the various Wednesday 13 fronted bands blast through my speakers on a regular basis. But where Mr. 13's records have been more shaky than Bela Lugosi's performance in Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959) by Ed Wood, another band arose to become the purveyors of True North Carolina Horror Rock. (TM)
Tumblr media
The Gruesome Twosome of Devallia and Anders Manga, under the moniker of BLOODY HAMMERS, have been releasing records drenched in camp and horror since 2012. Since their inception the husband-and-wife duo have been mixing doom rock with goth elements with a big role for synths, keys, and organ sounds on their new record, 'Songs of Unspeakable Terror' (2021 - Napalm Records), the band shows a different side of themselves.
I was quite surprised during my first listen, because Songs of Unspeakable Terror is a thoroughbred horror punk record. We're getting 11 songs in a little over half an hour. In general the tempo lies higher than on the band's other outputs, although you don't have to expect any Misfits speeds here. The biggest difference though, is that the music is mainly built up around guitars, bass and drums, with Devallia trading in her keyboard for a bass guitar. As it turns out, this was supposed to be a side project, paying tribute to NY punk bands like the Ramones and the Plasmatics. It wasn't decided to release it under the Bloody Hammers banner until after the record was completed.
So with that in mind, it's unfair to treat this as a Bloody Hammers record, because it's nothing like it. It is, however, a pretty neat horror punk record. Opening track "A Night to Dismember" ticks all the boxes of a good horror punk track. It's fast, straight forward, and melodic, with tongue in cheek lyrics filled with horror references and the obligatory "woah-oh-oh" parts. "Hands of the Ripper," on the other hand, comes closer to a traditional Bloody Hammers track, if it were performed by a punk rock band.
The first two tracks pretty much set standard for the rest of the record. Pretty much all tracks are mid-tempo to slow punk tracks, although a bit heavier, with a keen sense of melody and referencing one old horror movie after the other. Oh, and they're catchy as hell. You'll be singing along before you know it.
For me, this record represents the best of both worlds. Tracks like "The Ones Who Own the Dark" and "We Are the Damned" have the dark and gloomy atmosphere you find on most Bloody Hammers tracks, while "Waking the Dead" and "The Brain that Wouldn't Die" could have been written by the Misfits. Whether it's a fast or a slower song, the atmosphere is right and that's why it works.
Songs Of Unspeakable Terror by Bloody Hammers
While most tracks adhere to the formula mentioned above, "Lucifer's Light" stands out. This goth rock ballad comes closest to a traditional Bloody Hammers track and it's a nice change of scenery. I don't really understand why it's the tenth track on the record though, since it would do better halfway through the record or as a closing track. In its current position, it takes away from the great closer "I Spit on Your Corpse," which is a shame.
Even though this is not a traditional Bloody Hammers record, it fits in their repertoire. It won't go down in history as one of their best, but there's still a lot to enjoy and it highlights a different side of the band. One thing is for sure though, it will certainly do well at your next Halloween party.
Follow The Band.
Get Their Music.
