one of the most merciful kills hannibal ever performed was not to be merciful to the man he killed, but to spite the man who wanted that kill. hannibal killed franklyn without franklyn even knowing he was going to die. just a quick snap of his neck. tobias wanted to kill franklyn so desperately, and it wouldn't have been as quick as hannibal did it. not only did hannibal steal tobais' kill, he made it purposeless. effortless. there was no performance or art to that kill. not only could tobias not have it, he couldn't enjoy it either.
