Hey, I hope this isn’t too weird of a question but feel free to ignore. I noticed on your Star Wars ship chart you have obikin as your OTP but vaderwan only as “like”. Aren’t they the same characters? Why do you like one more than the other

Okay SO sorry for the late response to this I was mulling over how to articulate it.

Vaderwan as a sex/relationship dynamic is fun. For me it’s fun in the way like “grrr you’re mine slams you against the wall” dubcon is fun, but that’s really as compelling as it gets for me because I really don’t see a place in their relationship at that point where they could go beyond that until they’re force ghosts. Vaderwan dynamic to me kind of exists in a PWP-shaped vacuum. What if Tom & Jerry was about freaky sex instead. One-off erotic torture episodes.

This is because like, to kind of paraphrase an earlier response I gave, by the time Vaderwan is a thing they’ve both taken on the mantle of different identities (Ben and Vader respectively) and subsequently are no longer the people they were before. Their *past* selves that existed before the destruction of the Jedi have a very fraught history, but their current selves don’t look at each other with the same level of interpersonal history because Anakin is dead to Obi-Wan and vice versa (obviously this is just my interpretation) (I do actually view them as the same people but they don’t view themselves as the same people so they functionally aren’t)

Vaderwan as a non-actual ship or sex/romance concept is more compelling to me tbh.

The Deborah chow obi wan show does something interesting with this because it starts from a place of emotional inequality where obi-wan hasn’t gone full Ben yet and thinks he killed Anakin (thus Anakin like “still exists” even though he’s dead if that makes sense), so there’s this stilted quality where like, he’s still trying to interact with Anakin when he deals with Vader but doesn’t realize yet that he’s trying to interact with a ghost. Their fights are kind of reflective of this and then at the end after their final fight they both respectively embrace who they are. Sort of reflected in how obi wan just tells him bye and immediately leaves with no emotional reaction at all, then after that speaks about Anakin in the past tense for the first time before returning to the desert and being Ben, because Vader has just admitted to him that he needs to get with the program because Anakin is long gone and he’s chasing a memory. Vader’s thing with him has this Tom and Jerry feel to it while also this need less to capture him but more to try and make Obi-Wan see that Anakin isn’t there anymore/Anakin and Obi-Wan are not a thing anymore, they’re both dead.

Obi-Wan show is very gothic in that respect lol…vaderwan is very gothic and compelling to me as the tragic end rather than the place where they start their relationship or work it out

Anyways favorite part obikin is the weird complicated ways that they fuck each other up and the knowledge of where it leads, and where it leads is like the catharsis for me + vaderwan is fairly straightforward and post-catharsis so it’s fun but not as insanity inducing for me! But I still enjoy it.

But this why my preferred post every event in ROTS Obikin fic is like “obi-wan is hallucinating anakin in the desert and going crazy” or other associated metaphysical stuff

ALSO to paraphrase what my friend said: Obi-Wan is very passive (in the books especially!) and doesn’t ever choose, he needs to be pursued. Anakin as Vader ultimately needs to be chosen, Obi-Wan will never be the one to chase so will never be the one to choose. And this is also very much an essence of it etc. adds to the tragedy but I wouldn’t have it any other way hehe

maybe this is silly but — do you have any thoughts on lucy grays specifically appalachian identity? I often think abt how the films erased the cultural / geographical specificities of district 12 even though it’s literally so so important to the books (it’s mentioned on page 2 of the hunger games) and idk I think it’s very interesting/ kinda funny and iconic that in response to that erasure suzanne collins literally made a character whose cultural identity cannot be erased without significantly altering her narrative function. On a meta textual level it’s also an interesting echo to the Capitol erasing lucy gray and then her being restored by the author - kinda? Idk I’m a huge appalachian folk nerd (it’s why I read tbosas lol) so I. Think abt it a lot

also let me apologize in advance- i started a new anxiety medicine and have felt awful and have had a lot of brain fog so it’s very possible that none of this makes sense or is even what you’re asking.

i ended up rambling a lot so i will put my actual answer under the cut:

the erasure of all the really appalachian things- especially the accents- in the trilogy will always devastate me. which i why i will go to my death defending rachel zegler against anyone who criticizes her accent in tbosas.

i love lucy gray and the covey because you absolutely can see so much appalachian and bluegrass influence in them and their lives- but the book makes it clear that they aren’t really district 12, therefore, not really appalachian.

i think in a lot of ways lucy gray really embodies an appalachian girl. she’s fun and strong and willing to do whatever it takes to survive. she’s not afraid of the woods or the creatures in it- she makes friends with the snakes. she loves music (my girl needs a banjo i will die on that hill) and brings that to her people. their performances are one of the few times that people in 12 really get to be carefree and have fun and it brings everyone together. music is such an important thing in appalachian culture and is something that always brings people together.

she as a double name and it’s important to address her using both- which is also a fairly common thing in appalachian culture, it’s rude to only refer to them by one of the names. (which is why if someone only calls her lucy i do not take their opinion on her character seriously at all.)

you can also see it in the way the covey are a family without all being really related and the way the older members take care of the younger ones. in the way they spend time at the lake fishing and swimming and collecting food from around the area to eat. in the clothes they wear. in their music (nothing you can take from me boot stomping version my beloved).

but i think the distraction that they aren’t really from district 12 and not really appalachian is important. you can see that in the way lucy gray describes the covey as outsiders in district 12. i think this is another way that you really see the influence of appalachian culture in district 12. it doesn’t matter how many similar traits that they have or how long they have lived there- they’re still outsiders to the people who have lived there their whole lives. they still aren’t fully trusted by the wider community because they’re different and not from around here.

and to answer your question i’m going to warn you this is going to be kinda long because i’m gonna use this post as an excuse to show my 3D models that aren’t awful (sorry lol).

i actually use two different programs, both for different purposes, but you don’t need to get both, it really depends on which kind of modeling you want to do.

1) the first is called Nomad Sculpt on the iPad, you do have to pay for it unfortunately but it’s definitely one of the best modeling apps for the iPad. i know Blender is free but my computer is really old and doesn’t run the program very well, and at this point i’ve already gotten used to nomad sculpt.

anyway tho, i use it for art-related things like the obvious 3D models, but recently i’ve been playing around with just making scenes to use as references for my drawings. they’re not anything impressive, most of the time i actually use it to make little figurines to print and turn into earrings/little friends that sit in my room just for fun.

i’m gonna show this first bc they look cooler once they’re printed and colored (also you can tell i printed mini crowley and aziraphale when my sonadow hyperfixation started bc i never actually painted crowley) (he’s just kinda sitting there oops).

the little red guys are actually my favorite bugs (goliath beetles), i made them about a year ago but i still wear them like every day.

and here’s what they look like in the app, it’s a little intimidating but once you get used to it it’s actually kinda fun just playing around and seeing what you can do.

2) the second program i use is Shapr3D (also for the iPad, but i think they made an update where you can run it on windows/mac). you also have to pay for this as a subscription which sucks, i’m only able to use it since the engineering program i’m in pays for it.

Shapr3D is one of the many CAD software programs out there, but it’s nice bc it’s very beginner friendly and very easy to use. CAD is mainly for architecture/engineering but i honestly think more 3D artists should give it a try. it’s really nice once you get the hang of it and (i’m probably biased bc i’m a student) i honestly prefer it over just normal modeling software because i feel like you can be a lot more creative with it.

right now for my engineering class, our semester final is to design and present something that’s functional, and we can either explain the math behind it or just 3D print it and demonstrate how it works, and i’m making a functional mini model of “the rack” trap from Saw III (i’m not psychotic i swear i’ve just had a Saw hyperfixation for 5 years).

i’m definitely gonna post it when it’s finished just bc i’m already excited with how it’s turning out, but for now here’s a couple at-home projects i’ve done:

(above) i have a bunch of wet liners and i designed a stackable holder thingy with bolts between the shelves and a little cute star screw to fasten it at the top.

(above) i also made a few rotating brush holders at home (bc the ones that actually rotate are like $40 for some reason) by buying a set of small sphere bearings at home depot for like $5 (that’s what those little metal things are inside the third one, i took it apart bc i don’t know how to put a video and a picture in the same post) (just pretend they’re spinning rn).

just for consistency let's assume these pairings take place in the host's universe but with the creatures*tm* abilities, ie. greed gets full control of whatever body he works with while john just gets eyes, ling has his motivating factors of being emperor or w/e regardless of pairing while eddie is a washed up reporter in san fran etc.

Ling + Greed: Canonically work incredibly well together, drift compatible idiots, despite having 0 control of his body ling is still able to get his way in the end and had greed doing him favors within 10 minutes of knowing each other, 10/10 compatibility 10/10 functionality

Ling + Venom: hmmm this one's trickier - right away ling is probably extremely agreeable to murder so long as it's who he wants dead/he gets power out of it, so in that regard they'd get along just fine. I think in terms of personality venom is actually extremely easy to work with with very minimal prodding, like he was ready to betray his entire species within like 24 hours so I think ling could get him on board with his power plotting in no time flat and they'd probably have some fun with it. Longer term they might not last too long together since venom is a romantic at heart so ling might need to pass him off to a more suitable partner down the line, but at least in terms of immediate matchups they'd get on well/would probably eat the emperor or something and have a great time doing it. 6/10 compatibility 8/10 functionality

Ling + John: this one's really funny to me john is so fucked lmao - what really works against john here is the fact that ling doesn't really need his eyes to do anything since he can use the dragon's pulse instead and he's also bizarrely mentally stable so it's unlikely his mind would slip enough for john to grab ahold of anything else, so his ability to make himself valuable is pretty dang limited. John's best bet here is convincing ling that working together could result in some sort of power being made available to him down the line, and just have to hope ling decides that's worth his time more than paying for an exorcism. Given ling was willing to search a random country with nothing more than sand and optimism in his pockets those odds aren’t zero though! Beating up cults and making deals with elder gods is very much in ling’s wheelhouse, I’d say normally messing with those things works out poorly for the person investigating them but ling is god’s favorite so he’ll probably be fine. 4/10 compatibility 7/10 functionality

Ling + Rhaast: I mean it’d be fine let’s be real, if rhaast couldn’t corrupt kayn after X years together then ling will be totally fine. Biggest hurdle is I don’t think scythes are ling’s weapon of choice but he could make it work- realistically he’d probably just gift rhaast to the emperor and hope he’d be an impressive enough boon or that rhaast would kill the emperor for him. Idk as much about how the player characters work in lol but assuming kayn’s blue level up thing is canon I assume ling would have that unlocked and rhaast dead in less than three hours. 2/10 compatibility 3-8/10 functionality depending on if sicko mode is canon or not

Eddie + Greed: so in terms of personality I think they’d either get on very well or hate each other with very little in between haha- I lean more towards the former in that Eddie is a somewhat pathetic wash-up and greed is well versed on that kind of personality via making his living in a dive bar. I don’t think they’d be a good reporter though lol. 5/10 compatibility 3/10 functionality

Eddie + Venom: he’s his right hand arm- man. his confidant. his everything. his best friend. his silly rabbit. 10/10 compatibility 7/10 functionality they’re a train wreck that was made for each other

Eddie + John: so this one does have some interesting promise given Eddie is an investigative reporter and also a little insane/prone to impulsive decisions. With that setup I think they actually have the potential to work pretty well together, it would be fun to see how the cookie would crumble over time haha. 8/10 compatibility 8/10 functionality

Eddie + Rhaast: Eddie picks up the scythe and pawns it 0/10 compatibility 0/10 functionality

Arthur + Greed: okay assuming this is memory wipe greed? Might not be too bad, like they might end up in jail but overall surviving the 1930s is feasible for greed and Arthur is probably decent enough company if things are mellow enough. If this is full memory greed? They go into a bar and never leave it again. 6/10 compatibility 3/10 functionality

Arthur + Venom: extremely funny to imagine this one is fun hahaha - I feel like the “lovecraftian horror setting” is just about perfect for venom I genuinely think the cult-busting by night detective by day crime duo has promise - elder gods are all about tentacles and venom can use that to his advantage to assert dominance. 6/10 compatibility 9/10 functionality

Arthur + John: see this one's funny cause this is the canon pairing but their mileage varies so much by virtue of the fact they are the main characters of a choose-your-own-adventure horror podcast, and thus can never really succeed for longer than a few moments lest their entire reality grind to a screeching halt. that said by this point they're mutual lifelines to one another and I respect the codependence. 8/10 compatibility 6/10 functionality (which is pretty high given their medium)

Arthur + Rhaast: exact same as eddie only instead of pawning it probably ends up taking it to some eldrich historian to find out what's up with it. that said arthur Does have a history of immediately going along with voices in his head so he might be the one guy rhaast could actually take over in which case rip arthur lol - regardless pretty unlikely they'd ever stick together longer than an afternoon, 1/10 compatibility 0/10 functionality

not even gonna bother ranking Kayn pairings since I really don't know enough about that guy (really don't know enough about rhaast either but he's funny enough to include lol)

Sonic Prime Extended Universe HCs - New Yoke

so we know that the Shatterverses aren’t “real,” full universes, just distorted reflections of the Prime that aren’t fully-formed, hence why there’s only like 6 people and two locations. However fucking around is fun fun fun so I’m just gonna do a post for each universe dissecting where the other Sonic Universe characters would be and what they’d be up to. Please for the love of GOD add your own ideas/hcs in the comments I want us all to melt into creativity mush.

NEW YOKE

Team Chaotix are lowkey rebels. They pretend to be model citizens while aiding Rebel and Renegade’s forces from the sidelines. Well, when I say “they,” I mean all of them but Charmy. He is noooot the subtle type so they just hide him inside. This keeps him alive but his zoomies are insane. House has been on fire at least twice.

You guys know Fiona’s backstory in Archie where she was besties with Mighty and Ray and they tried to revolt and it didn’t end well? Yeah I feel like that literally happens 1-1 here; Mighty and Ray think Fiona is dead, she’s digging her way out of isolation. The boys are on the run and NOT having a good time.

The other 1-1 is Whisper’s backstory. oops

Tangle and Jewel are in the Resistance; Tangle’s a fighter obvsly, Jewel works espionage/organization/keeping Tangle from dying.

SatAM Freedom Fighters are literally just doing the same shit. However without Sonic they’re missing their most crucial team member (the Distraction™) so they have to be way more sneaky and careful. then again if there IS a New Yoke!Sonic he could very well be here so maybe they’re all just vibin

StC Freedom Fighters are here too; their resistance is way smaller and they can’t do a lot but they are doing their BEST okay?? Porker and Tekno are making some kickass robots and Shortfuse is a huge win for them. Johnny was their main fighter and uh. well. right before the Sonic Incident™ he kinda got blasted just like in canon. Sorry buddy

Vanilla and Cream are hiding the chao in their basement. Literally, they dug out a basement to function as a makeshift chao garden so that the little guys wouldn’t get killed by the mass roboticization. It’s not going too well because chao need clean water to survive and there’s only so much they can get. They’re not involved with the rebellion though; they’re doing all they can to keep themselves and their chao alive, and without meeting Amy or Sonic they’ve never made contact with the main cast. Perhaps, similar to Advance 2, they make contact when Vanilla gets captured for roboticization and Cream teams up with the rebels to rescue her?

If we assume Robotnik has control of the Continents too, I like to think the Sonic X humans are running the rebellions over there. Chris has built Helen a rocket-powered wheelchair with guns on it and she is a little bit too happy about it

Elise is under a ton of pressure to keep her kingdom alive with the new dictatorship; they’re constantly checking in on her and roboticizing “criminals” in her kingdom and she hates it but if she objects they all die. Not having a good time!!

If Blaze is in this dimension she’s got a bit more freedom than Elise what with her superpowers; I feel like she probably has isolated her kingdom from the rest of the world while desperately trying to defeat oncoming invaders all by herself with her fire powers (+ with Silver maybe?). One day she goes too far and passes out, only to be saved by little Marine who encourages her to keep fighting.

Sticks is THRIVING. Girl expected a robo-pocalypse for years and it finally came and now she’s rescued a few stragglers and they have a mini-civilization in her bunker in the woods. She often leads attacks on the robots just to fuck with the Council and also cause she thinks it’s fun.

Babylon Rogues aren’t on the Council’s side but they’re also not really helping the rebellion. They just run around stealing shit like they normally do

Surge and Kit happen after the Sonic Incident™; Starline tries to recreate Sonic’s power and it goes. about as well as you’d expect.

the reason we don’t see Orbot and Cubot here imo is that they’re running factories in farther areas. Not well but they’re doing an adequate enough job they haven’t been scrapped yet

Breezie is considered their most dangerous robot. She’s a shapeshifter and can disguise herself as a normal mobian in order to get information on the Resistance; they’re constantly terrified that anybody could be Her.

Robotnik JR is here too, also a shifter; he’s made to be a robotic duplicate of the Chaos Council for certain public appearances in case of assassination attempts.

Decoe and Bocoe I don’t see as being here, but I dO see Bokkun as being WAY scarier than funny here. He is a detonation-bot and he’s damn good at his job and he’s a scary lil gremlin guy

Hope lost most of her family and is living under the Chaos Council’s ““care””. She absolutely hates them and is trying to aid the Resistance, but she’s under constant observation and thus can make no actual contact with them. Every now and again she’s been able to delete a file or turn off a camera. There’s no telling how many of them she’s saved with these small acts. They don’t know she exists.

Eddie thinks Buck is taking it a bit slower than him but he doesn’t keep track. They’re both red faced, sweaty, and laughing as the dancing progresses throughout the evening. It all kind of goes by in a blur of lights and greatest hits of years past. Whitney Houston. David Bowie. Earth, Wind, and Fire. Abba. Chim has covered all his bases. 

“It’s a little dated,” Buck observes as they take a moment for fresh air and some water out on the patio. December, 1963 is currently playing, so Eddie supposes he is literally correct.

“Oh yeah?” Eddie raises an eyebrow. “And what would your wedding reception playlist be? Pitbull and Sean Paul?” 

“Hey, now,” Buck laughs. “Don’t knock my early 2000s dance mix until you try it.”

Eddie is a little too drunk and happy to even reminisce on the over-abundance of Shannon’s taste in country music present at their own wedding. 

“Okay,” Eddie says instead. “I’ll just have to try it.”

Buck’s eyes twinkle. “Well, uh, good.”

And it’s a little silly. It’s a little premature, maybe. Or maybe not, all things considered. But Eddie thinks about it. The stupid playlist Buck would make. They could find suits that aren’t exactly matching, but highly complimentary. How they could include Chris in the ceremony. What it would feel like to be someone’s husband again. How it would feel to have a husband. 

Eddie brims with giddy laughter at the thought. 

“What?” Buck asks, grinning.

“Nothing,” Eddie says, reaching forward and resting a hand over Buck’s collarbone. “I just love you.”

Buck kisses Eddie’s forehead, as sweaty as it is. 

“I just love you, too,” he says. “But if we don’t get back inside and keep dancing, Albert is going to call us old. And I simply refuse to deal with that on my sister’s wedding day.”

Eddie laughs. “We can’t have that, can we?”

“My ego simply won’t allow it.” Buck nods.

So Eddie and Buck return to the party, and if Eddie has the tiny seeds of a fantasy taking root in his head, he just hopes it’s not too terribly obvious on his face.

In the interest of remembering the evening as best he can, Buck elects not to get as drunk as Eddie. This poses the risk of having less fun, but this doesn’t turn out to be the case. Instead, he gets to watch and stamp it all into memory. Eddie, letting loose in a way that is rare for him. Smiling and utterly gorgeous. Maddie and Chim, so happy in celebrating something that seems both hard won and as simple as magic. Hen and Karen, dancing together, warm and tender and familiar. Giving Buck something to seriously aspire to. 

He’s also very glad he’s functional enough to get video evidence of Ravi and Albert doing a drunken handstand competition well after midnight. Beautiful, really. He’ll have lots of embarrassing photos and videos of everyone for a group chat tomorrow. And lots of Eddie just to keep for himself. 

Somewhere close to two in the morning, Buck is fumbling with the hotel room keycard, while Eddie is slumped against his shoulder. 

“Mmm, just want to lie down,” Eddie complains, when Buck isn’t moving fast enough. Maybe if he wasn’t holding up a whole ass drunk, squirmy man, he’d be a bit quicker.

“Give it a second,” Buck promises. 

When he finally swipes them through, Eddie straightens up, strides through the door, and flops onto the bed with alarming deftness, given how he could hardly walk a second ago. 

“You are full of shit,” Buck accuses. 

Eddie laughs, mischievously. He does not deny Buck’s allegations. 

On top of the covers, head not even making it to a pillow, Eddie closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. 

“Oh, no.” Buck scolds, amused. “No falling asleep yet. Take off your damn shoes.”

“You,” Eddie slurs in accusation, keeping his eyes closed but pointing a finger in the approximation of Buck’s direction. “Have put your shoes on my coffee table.”

Buck can’t help but laugh. “It’s our coffee table now, darling.” 

“True,” Eddie yawns. Eyes still shut, he lifts his lefts and awkwardly paws at his shoes. 

“You’re ridiculous,” Buck says, crossing the room to help him remove his shoes.

Hello, it's been a while since I've sent something lol. Had my birthday and a bunch of other stuff in the last few weeks, so my month's been busy lol

I've been debating on if I want to make a sideblog for DBH or not for a little while (I haven't posted much on my main in a while and feel awkward just posting random stuff again lol, plus I'd like to start organizing my fixations into side blogs or whatever lol), plus I've kinda wanted to rewrite DBH or something (though I'm not the best writer).

Anyway, I'm curious on some headcanons you have about androids themselves? Like any functions or lifespans or what?

Also watched the Tech Demo with Kara and such, where she says stuff like how her "battery" can help her run automonously for, like, 173 years? That's a long time, especially since it seems like the rest of their body (or at least several) has planned obsolescence?

She also mentions she's a third-generation AX400, which also makes me curious about how "generations" of androids work.

Rambling a lot, lol, but yeah, I'm just curious about what your thoughts or ideas are on how they function and whatnot :0

OOH LOVE THIS QUESTION ‼️ Here’s a few Android head canons I have when it comes to functionality and all that:

More “common” androids (such as caretakers, houseworkers, and receptionists) have much longer lifespans than more “advanced” models like combat androids or those made for special cases—like Connor. I think this because those “common” models tend to be quite personable. They’re usually in a home, form routines that humans close to them rely on, and even as times change a maid’s program barely has to be updated. Cleaning, cooking, and babysitting stays pretty consistent. Whereas more special case androids are usually in fields that change wildly and however they were made or appear probably won’t suit the conditions for long. So I head canon those common androids probably are built with the intention of longevity (even if new models become available, upgrades aren’t required) whereas models like Connor are built with the intention of a shorter shelf life.

I know rationally it’s accepted (and maybe confirmed? Can’t remember) that their skin and hair is a hologram. But I personally headcanon it’s not and that they can coat themselves in a layer of synthetic skin and hair. I feel it like makes more sense to 1.) make people more comfortable with the androids (it’s gonna be way easier for a child to bond with a caretaker android if when she takes its hand, it feels like human skin rather than hard and cold) and 2.) when considering sex work androids, who is going to want to pay to be intimate with something hard and plastic-y feeling to the touch yknow? I’m sure people would, but if it doesn’t feel human, I doubt it would be as popular. And I’m sure they would make the others in the same way even if they’re not doing sex work cause I additionally headcanon that pretty much all androids (except for children and maybe a few others) have some kind of genitalia. Because we know how people are, I’m sure any android that works in the home is probably equipped for intimacy. And there are the life partner androids as well. Etc, etc.

I know a lot of people head canon them to be very heavy cause they’re walking machines full of thirium, but I don’t think androids are any heavier or lighter than standard human weight. I imagine the weight of their blood is the heaviest part as their bodies are probably made of something sturdy but lightweight. And the inner mechanisms coming in at the second heaviest. I just think that would even out to being more or less pretty standard

I love rejanis but I also specifically love your rejanis. I was wondering if you could talk about your approach? What you think is important to their dynamic, and also with what dimensions you built yours out. What you place importance on, what you add (or enhance), and what you ignore (or deemphasize)

This was such a wonderful question that really made me think of my approach to these characters which is aparently not something I think of much since it took me a while to come up with an answer lol

My explanation got long, but hopefully it answered your question!

My initial approach to any ship, but especially rejanis, is trying to understand the characters outside of the ship. What’s their relationship like to other characters, what’s their relationship with themselves? How do they function within the story canon, and how would that change if you took them outside of that? Stuff like that. And sometimes, that’s extrapolating and adding in my own headcanons if things aren’t covered in canon, but I like to think I keep my interpretations pretty close to what’s in canon.

For rejanis, I think one of the most important things to their dynamic is their shared past. That all transforms the way they view each other and interact. Their behaviors come from that understanding/misunderstanding, so it’s an integral part of their relationship to me.

It’s the fact that they know each other. Knew each other. And how that knowing changes over the years as they grow up and grow apart. I like playing with the different ways that past can manifest.

For UIW, I took that prior knowledge and let them keep their understanding of each other. They can still read each other, and they still get each other even before they get close again. On the other hand, there’s Kaleidoscope, where that prior understanding didn’t carry into the present. Regina can’t read Janis as easily; they’re having trouble connecting even as friends before they get together. Both options are fun to write, but the important thing is that both options are anchored in that past relationship. (Sometimes the lack of understanding can be meatier. The urge to understand, the realization that someone you used to know as well as you know yourself has become a stranger. The mourning for what used to be and the desire to get back to that point.)

This might just be bc I’m aro, but I love emphasizing friendship. For UIW, I didn’t want Regina and Janis to get together until they were friends, until they understood each other and had that base. Sure, there was a ton of longing mixed in, but they liked hanging out, they thought each other was funny, and they cared about each other beyond the romantic interest. Even outside the two of them, writing the dynamics of the group as a whole and the individual friendships within that was an important part of my writing process. I just love friendship 😭

Of course, like for Kaleidoscope, sometimes I don’t take the time to delve into that as much, but for longer stories I like building the romance on very homoerotic friendship bc what’s better than that lmao

For Regina specifically, I like to build on the way guilt functions in her – how it affects her relationship to her friends, how it informs her growth, how it affects her attraction to Janis, how it affects her own perspective on that attraction. I like making her want something, too. When I first watched the 2024 movie, my initial reaction to Regina was ‘god this kid is so disgustingly spoiled.’ So it’s fun to make her wait and work for something for once. It’s good for her

For Janis, it’s more about letting herself open up. The person she trusted most in the world betrayed her and ruined her life. That leaves a mark, and I like playing around with how that resulting distrust manifests in her relationships with people and how it can hinder her romance with Regina.

I like to think that in my fics, Janis’ journey is about learning to be vulnerable. Regina’s journey is about vulnerability too, but it’s also about being taken down a peg and learning to be better (and more patient 😂).

I also like to add in banter for them. They don’t interact a ton in the movie, but they’re both very quick and funny people; I think those traits translate well to them being funny together.

As for what I ignore, honestly at times I feel like I let the romance take a backseat sometimes? I love the journey to reach the romance, so most of my focus is on that instead. Sometimes the romance almost functions as a pleasant byproduct of the characters’ growth for me. If I don’t focus on that endgame, I have room to mess around with the characters and make them work together before they fully get together

I’m not sure if that deemphasize bit made sense but I’m sticking with it lol

Hey there! So I usually prefer to give more personalized recs based on what YOU like. I like trying to make sure that YOU’RE going to have a fun time rather than just pushing my faves lol.

But GENERALLY speaking there are a few standbys that I feel comfortable saying “if you like x you’ll probably like y”- not all of these are X-Men comics but they’re still fun. Some of these are just more vague comic titles but if message me or shoot me an ask to send me more about what you specifically like or ask for more details I can 100% give you that too!

Keep in mind too as you read that while both Big 2 publishers utilize child heroes that “sidekicks” are primarily a convention in DC comics. Marvel has places to train children to use their powers and some of these function as teams, but they aren’t sidekicks and the situations aren’t really comparable to Batman and company. Within the pages of Marvel comics you are far more likely to see stories about child heroes actually address the child soldier allegations through the eyes of the children and the horrors they’re facing, the adults who put them there are often shown as being manipulative, and most heroes don’t have sidekicks and that was never a phenomenon that picked up (due to the death of Bucky Barnes which has SIGNIFICANT textual ramifications).

Bruh, if I wear those boots I might cant even walk, those are huge asf 😭😭😭

The boots are definitely loaded with machinery so that they can do all the cool stuff I’m wanting them to do/what Two wants them to do so, yes, heavy. But because Two wears them as a sort of enhancement, he took the weight into account and installed some sort of device to make the boots less heavy, and more like the weight of a normal shoe. He did the same with his metal arm (that thing is packed with machinery and mystics).

But, yea they are pretty big for boots. There are two reasons why they’re so bulky:

The first is because they’re designed to mimic the shape/structure of caprine legs. I’ve explained it before in an ask but I can’t find it sadly. The boots are just another way Two tries to mimic Draxum. But also, by mimicking the structure of a caprine limb, he can enhance his speed, which sort of brings me to the second reason.

The second reason is that the boots have a lot of functions built into it. The boots have large springs built into their structure that allow Two to propel himself further and faster with each step. That accounts for the bulky, pointy, caprine shape. They also have jets at the bottom that likely take up space in the platforms at the bottom/sole of his feet. They’re Pointy for defensive measures. He would also need space to store his mystic crystal, which powers the whole thing, plus a bunch of extra gadgetry for other fun and useful features and functions.

The main issue I have with the boots’ design is that they seem hard to MOVE in. Like, because they’re metal and they cover HALF his leg, it looks like it restricts his joints. Because of that, I may need to rethink the material of the purple area. But, I imagine that the metal is somewhat malleable, or has plates, or maybe even has joints inside that allow Two to move his ankle and stuff? Probably one of the first two ideas. Or I’m just overthinking it—either way he CAN move his legs and walk very easily with the boots

I designed the boots with the ideas that Two is almost constantly running from the authorities and isn’t as well trained as One is in physical activities beyond construction (and that he wants to look like Draxum but that’s besides the point right now lol). He needs a way to stay ahead, and the boots are supposed to help him do just that.

Also, they aren’t actually as big as in the last artwork I posted. Two’s updated ref sheet has a more accurate scale, so you’ll see that in full when I post it. They look more like this:

Joining in on the Succubuns anons venting about having to edit their designs constantly. As someone who has been in that CS from almost the beginning, I’ve avoided getting designs checked like the plague at this point. Your bun’s limbs are slightly too long? Their ears are 5 pixels past their boobs? Their neck is 2 pixels too wide? Oops sowwy gotta keep editing it until I say it looks good uwu go fuck yourself owo

And the kicker is that they allow private tickets for design WIP checks “as a courtesy” (said by Yves themselves) and they refuse to approve finished designs to waste your time when you submit them to the website. Because you have to wait (im)patiently to see if your design is gonna get nitpicked to hell and back. It’s usually Yves since they have nothing better to do than point out anything they can that isn’t even in their design guidelines.

The only reason I’ve stayed this long is because it’s one of the only adult-oriented CS out there with a pretty nice community and a functional ARPG site with prompts that are pretty fun. I just stay as far away from the staff as I can 99% of the time because I despise them. Again it’s mostly Yves and Luca I dislike immensely bc one is a micromanaging egomaniac and the other is standoffish and greedy (i.e. always setting the AB for their designs to anywhere from $1k to fucking $2k bc they’re the species owner) and you aren’t even allowed to redesign them despite paying an arm and a leg

Should I leave? Yeah. But sad to admit that I’ve spent a good amount of money on buying buns and in-game items, and working hard to finish a lot of the prompts so I’d feel like I wasted all that time if I did. And I made a lot of friends there I collaborate with a lot. It’s complicated.

I’ve not touched this blog in ages, I’m mostly hoping this will end up being seen because of the tags. But I have some 9-1-1 feelings I need to get off my chest and this is the best place for it.

Bi Buck??? Amazing and fantastic. A storyline that is at the end of the day about Buck realising this big part of himself and coming to accept it and being comfortable with it. It’s not about Eddie, and it’s not about Tommy. We have bisexual representation which is so rare for big tv shows still with everyone being gay or a lesbian if that representation even exists on that show. This is important. This is bigger than a silly ship war.

But while I’m here! Buddie vs Kinkley (my preferred ship name for them lol). Who cares? Buck and Eddie have this wonderful love story and it would be amazing if they went canon. Buck is going on a date with Tommy amidst this new discovery and that’s also incredible? We get to see him actually on screen on a date. How fun!

It’s super frustrating to see people on twitter (and here but mostly twitter) getting annoyed that people ship Buck and Tommy and they have fanfiction written about them (literally saw someone mad about them taking over the buddie tag on ao3 which is untrue and also just exclude their tag if it’s that big of a deal? That’s an amazing function you can use). But people can ship what they want, they can enjoy whatever they want. As someone else has pointed out this fandom is one of the very fandoms that is so weird about people only being shipped with one other person. Most fandoms be out here multishipping on the regular.

Some people also have never shipped buck and Eddie. And those people are enjoying buck and Tommy and we’re all allowed to. I want to be able to enjoy this ship without being accused of being “disgusting” for shipping something that has actual onscreen romantic time?? So yeah I’m on tumblr and tiktok where people aren’t making every single thing about buddie.

People are getting cruel about it too, picking on both Eddie and Tommy’s characters over the stupidest stuff that the characters themselves are clearly over. They’re all friends, they’re all connected. Chimney wouldn’t have rang Tommy (even in season 2!) if they weren’t friends, Hen wouldn’t of come when Tommy contacted her if they weren’t friends. Eddie and Buck wouldn’t be close the way they are if Buck was still upset about a comment made in the heat of the moment over something they ended up having a conversation about! Like be nicer.

“Oh I can’t wait until Buck realises he’s in love with Eddie next episode” “oh who cares about buddie buck Tommy is where it’s at” can Buck just be bisexual without his sexuality being reliant on a ship becoming canon?

And to the people saying “you don’t care about Eddie” because we’re celebrating Buck being bi and not pushing a “Eddie is definitely gay” narrative at the same time that is actually insane. Yall are playing leap frog and you shouldn’t want an Eddie coming out story either just to make a ship canon. You should want it because it’ll make a fantastic narrative and it’ll fit a lot of what we’ve seen. And some of you do what it for that reason, but half the time those same people are complaining that Buck had this storyline first. Get over yourselves. Let people celebrate Buck. Let people celebrate bisexuality without making it about something else. Because shockingly enough that’s historically a massive problem and bi-erasure is gross af.

hows fashion dreamer? :0 i was thinking about getting it but there are so many shovelware fashion games on switch i wasnt sure if it was worth it

Oh man, so so far I’m having a LOT of fun with it. I was eager to get it since the developer, Syn Sophia, created the Style Savvy game series, which I’m a huge fan of!! Also definitely recommend those. (:

Though Style Savvy’s main focus was owning a boutique and buying clothes wholesale from in-game brands to sell at your store (Retrobeat is my fav 💖), Fashion Dreamer is far more about creating your own clothes and fashion brand. Honestly THAT worried me at first, since I was never super into creating my own clothes in Style Savvy, but they’ve offered a lot of variety here!!

I still have a lot of stuff to unlock, and I’m getting the impression that they’ll be offering more free updates in the future that’ll expand the clothing catalogue.

Now here are my MAIN concerns with the game:

There is a big emphasis put on accessing online mode and getting designs from other players, seeing their showrooms etc… Which, as we all know the Switch Online situation is incredibly stupid lol. It definitely wouldn’t make the game unplayable, like, say, Splatoon without online. You have NPCs to dress up, and the NPCs and clothing design feature don’t need online to help you unlock more stuff. But there is ONE exception from my understanding so far…

So right now they’re running an event where you can get exclusive (BUTTERFLY THEMED!!!) items for a limited time. Some of the items I think you don’t need online for…? You’ll have access to the patterns once you hit a certain rank. BUT. To complete the goals for the event that let you unlock everything else, it looks to me that you NEED to use the online features as a lot of the goals require interacting with other players. 😭

Plus the event exclusive patterns won’t be available after the fact, which sucks for players that get the game after it ends. But I think you’d probably still be able to get designs other players have made from the patterns from the event!! … assuming you have online that is.

While these things aren’t a problem to me, it still sucks that the online functionality is so vital in certain respects. Though that’s really on Nintendo for their bullshit, it wouldn’t be a problem if online wasn’t a subscription . -_-

(And like, in a game like this I think it’s a good thing to be encouraged to share what you’ve made with other players!! It’s just the damn subscription.)

Hopefully that isn’t discouraging though LOL, I am having a ton of fun with the game and I adore the outfit options they’ve given us to customize. There’s a lot of cute outfits to work with and I can’t wait to see what they add and what else I have to unlock as I play more!! 😭

Also the fact that they added men’s fashion as a focus rules. That was kiiiiind of a thing in the Style Savvy games I played, but with a very limited scope.

Oh also facial hair isn’t gender locked. This is great for me specifically.

ANYHOW I hope that helps you have an easier time deciding!! It stood out to me since I already have experience with Syn Sophia’s line of fashion games. ☺️

2. when was the last time you cried? as prone as i am to being blue i don’t really cry all that often. mostly at touching books, movies, or tv. so i think the last time was last month when my sister had to put her puppy to sleep because he had a really rare, aggressive cancer. she just loved on him so much and made his exceptionally short time on earth full of comfort and happiness.

3. do you have kids? thankfully no i would be a terrible parent lol i am not even a good pet parent. i have no maternal instinct and i am way too protective of my alone time. i will someday be a very good auntie bc i think kids are so smart and great and fun to be around, but i like that i can give them back to their parents when i need a break and and i like that i’m not the one responsible for making sure they don’t turn out to be jerks

15. dream job? this is a hard question because i was very fortunate and got my “dream job” out of college but realized quickly that i was not built for the environment that type of work requires or the people it attracts. my job now is technically the same function but at a very different company that is a much better fit for my personality and my values. so i have two new dream jobs (which honestly were always kind of there as pipe dreams). i would love to teach high school physics or be a writer. i am surrounded by a lot of creative people who encourage me to write which is lovely but i know i am not cut out for the instability of the entertainment industry lol nor do i think i’m talented or hardworking enough to make it there. one day i would like to make an indie horror film tho. also i second @sarah-crewe​‘s desire for a four day work week
