Pronoun discourse is just as exhausting in person. A trans girl in my group project for History of Modern Europe refused to use he/him for me because "they/them is neutral" and I looked her in the eyes and said, "I will not reply to group texts, upload anything or share resources if you don't refer to me correctly. I use silence to train my dogs, I use it to train transmisandrists, too." She was furious and spent a few weeks misgendering me... until she realized I was serious and I would let all of us fail this group project because this he/him? Yeah, this he/him had a 100 on every single assignment up until that point and could take the grade hit. If other people can't, well, that's not my problem.

She learned to call me he/him with incredible regularity once her grade was on the line. Suddenly, two words weren't incredibly hard to recall and abruptly, not every conversation with her turned into her lecturing me on how trans women have it harder than trans men. We were able to talk about the actual subject of the group assignment and she was able to remember he/him.

Meanwhile, the cishet members of the group had not struggled to recall he/him for me once, nor had they turned group project meetings into discourse once.

Why are queer people always most vicious with their fellow queers? I'm in MONTANA, and the people worst to me aren't the fucking rednecks, it's other queer people. Rednecks don't condescend to me about how they/them is neutral and good and indicates they're trying their best and trans men have it easy actually. It's the city queers sitting there going, "Rather than just call you he/him and spend this meeting for our group project focusing on the project, I'm going to treat you like the enemy and lecture you." People talk about the concept of a 'queer community' but getting lectured about how trans women have it worse than trans men (because I guess my saying 'use my pronouns' secretly implies I think trans men have it worse? idk, I don't speak bullshitese) doesn't make me go, "Ah, yes. Between this, the lesbians I've met on campus who keep making, "gays can't do math or science or history or whatever other subject we're in right now" jokes who seethe with contempt for the privileged gay men, the cis gay guys terrified of doing something perverted who view drag, cosplay, wearing a skirt, wearing makeup or fucking around with presentation at all as not okay/possibly problematic and the NBs who cannot emphasize enough to you that they're one of the good ones who don't dye their hair or wear stupid shit or use neopronouns like the bad ones do, and the utter disgust they all look at anyone with who dares use the word queer, I'm beginning to feel like "the queer community" is one of those things you don't get access to until you're 30+. Alternatively "the queer community" appears to "antis, but with rainbows and flags and ew you think the rainbow flag is for everyone you're so problematic", which is... not great, honestly?

I know this will get a lot of queer people very angry but I'll say it: there are 492 anti-queer laws proposed in the USA, not counting the ones that have passed. We should probably focus on that instead of going for each other's throats and then saying we're a "community".

I cannot agree more, I was literally delighted when the first The One came out and it was revealed that Luka is a trans guy (I am transmasc too, and this his character was like a gift for me). The writer* of this novel made such a good representation with him ♡♡♡ And most of all, he has such a sweet and caring personality. Not to mention that sex scene with him was the ONLY sex scene in RC novels (and I read a lot of them!) that I found hot.

*actually, there were two writers. One who created all characters left their project and it was given to another author, who carefully and respectfully wrote remaining series and kept all characters' personalities.

But I have to admit that Russian part of fandom is racist, homophobic and transphobic as fuck (well, at least the vast majority of it). I know it so well because I am actually Russian (I am not pleased with this fact myself) and can see all this -phobic hell in person. When it was revealed that Rachel is transgender, they begin to say she's "with surprise" or that she's actually a man. When Luka's identity came out, they begin to call him a girl and say there's something very wrong with him (obviously because he's an activist and is proud of who he is). This fandom cannot accept one(1) nonbinary person, Tai (I hope I wrote their name correctly, I don't know how to write it in English) from Hell and High Water, one of my most favorite stories; they began to call them names and so on and so forth, began to say that the mentioned novel has "too much representation" ("too much" in question: one nb background character; one mlm married couple who has a daughter and who are in background too; one mention that one of male LIs is bisexual).

I would LOVE to see more trans and/or nonbinary characters in RC novels, but I am a realist and I understand that this shitty fandom (I mean, Russian part of it) will never allow that.

I want to say I am so glad to see that people here love both Rachel and Luka, they are such nica and sweet characters and they deserve all the love in the world ♡♡♡

Ah yes, the demons being oddly dependent on MC is a little confusing, but I guess it's because they want MC to feel like part of the family?

Personally I think they make the brothers too reliant on MC in general, but I suppose it's because they want it to feel like MC is super powerful and strong, even if they're just a human?

I think I ended up kinda going with the opposite for my MC. I was kinda like okay, well, my MC is a just a regular guy. They contribute to the problems just as much as they help solve them lol.

And while I'm sure the side characters can be just as problematic in their ways, they all feel like they have separate lives apart from MC. Like they don't just fall apart whenever MC isn't around.

I already kinda get those vibes from Mephisto after the recent NB lesson where he was worried about them getting hurt. Like he took the time to make sure they were okay and then started asking them if they missed their family and such. I'm hoping the same for Raphael and Thirteen. I think I like all these characters more for similar reasons - they got their own stuff going on. They feel like they don't just exist for MC, they have more stories, richer lives. Whereas some of the brothers really feel like they just exist to fill the number of sins and are lacking more nuanced roles. This is easily fixed in fanfiction and I like finding those pieces of each character myself when I'm writing for them, but it can make them feel kinda flat too.

Lucifer is the brother that has the most going on, in my opinion. He's the most fleshed out, so I think we get more insight into him as a character. He definitely needs to take a break and I love the entire concept of MC being the one who's like, I see you and I see the work you do and I need you to hand some of that over to me so that you can rest.

In my day to day life I offer services and rituals to celebrate and honor women in ways that the world often has not; and I work to be all inclusive (nb, trans, and whatever might fall in between or outside of that). This work uses, showcases, AND teaches this feeling of sorority/sisterhood/community safety.

In order to balance out towards the other side—because I have been saying this same thing about boys and men missing this vital bit of living, and therefor perpetuating the rift between men and women whether they want to or not— I’ve started apprenticing as a barber. This seems to me to be one of the “softest” self care rituals men indulge in.

Would you say, in your experience, that this type of self care and perhaps the celebration/ritualization of milestones could help boys and men interact in healthier ways with their own masculinity, and the world at large?

I mean…yes and no.

Yes, because rituals and rites are nourishment for the soul, and no, because the kind of approach you're suggesting is designed to address systemic marginalization rather than systemic isolation. The reason why you don't already see cis men seek empowerment in relation to their gender because they don't need to be.

Instead, what they covet is to belong in despite of it.

See, the way we raise boys—and the experiences boys have growing into men—teach and reinforce this specific narrative:

"It doesn't matter who I am as a person, what my personality is like, or how strong of a bond someone forms with me; the moment I'm [too girly / too manly / not manly enough / the wrong kind of man / etc] my belonging is revoked and I'm disowned."

This is a trauma so ubiquitous within our Western society that many of us write it off as a feature of the XY chromosomes as opposed to conditioning. It's as omnipresent to men as objectification is to women, and equally as despised.

The origin of male isolation comes from the same place as everyone else's disenfranchisement: Western Imperialism. Western imperialism teaches us that the way we get anything good in this world is through acts of conquest:

"We become happy by conquering sadness." "We become healthy by conquering our bodies." "We become good people by conquering the parts of us that are bad." "We become good adults by conquering our behavior as children." "We become masculine by conquering effeminacy." "We become cherished and loved by conquering the parts of ourselves that are problematic and detested." Etc.

The only way I was every able to really truly heal my lifelong traumas was by ending the reign of conquest in myself. Conquest is what traumatized me to begin with, so ending conquest is what allowed me to heal.

My guess is that the same logic can be applied on a societal scale. But it would mean changing the way we go about achieving results.

(I also want to point out that cis men actually have tons of rituals and rites of passage in relation to healthy masculinity. They're just covert, and rather than speak to one's sense of agency—which is something cis women and trans* folks desire in relation to their genders—they speak to one's sense of belonging, which is, again, what cis men desire in relation to theirs.)

Okay. So I've done Alec, Kelp, and Oak, so really the only one left is Tarlyn, who I honestly think is indeed my most problematic guy (gender neutral)

First of all, he's dead. Best get this out of the way. He is doomed by the narrative and bitches would die mad about it.

Then, let's talk about "guy (gender neutral)". He's an nb amab character who never questioned his gender and therefore used he/him all his life, so basically we're all misgendering him somehow so this is problematic.

His whole story is dark and edgy and awfully problematic. This sad wet rag of a boy covered in glitter never had a break; he was tormented by his mother his whole life and he never stopped loving her.

And that's not even touching on his actions yet. This anxious pixie nightmare boy is a spoiled LIL BITCH who thinks (or at least acts) like he's larger than life and better than everyone because that's the only way he can cope with his loneliness, looking at everyone as if they are beneath him. He is an arrogant bastard who genuinely thinks his nobility means he is entitled to his luxury, and that his intelligence makes him superior, and that his command of magic makes him deserving of accolades and applause and praise. But that's just to cover up his abysmal lack of self esteem, his vulnerability and his need for connection.

He is never nice to other people unless they're of higher status than him, or important in some way, otherwise he is either catty and rude or just uninterested and aloof. He unknowingly yearns for someone to love him (granted, abuse has made him incapable of identifying, let alone giving love), but whenever someone is nice in any way, he can't believe it is real and reads it as interest, as them wanting something in return. He reduces everyone into shrewd social-climbers in his eyes (thus insulting them) bc that's what his family is.

He insults his servants, he wears blood jewelry (and a bunch of it), he is vain and petty and snobbish and finicky, he uses magic to spy on people, he never prepared a single meal in his entire 150 years of life, he was over 100 years old when he started questioning whether it was really true that short-lived races are inferior to elves. He is a poor little meow meow born and raised and abused by multimillionaire right wing conservatives. My boy Tarlyn would vocally defend Trump in a modern au, what more do you need me to say? DD requested a classic chocolate on chocolate birthday cake so this is what I made for her.

We are heading out shortly to take her to lunch and then having cake and ice cream with my parents and opening a few gifts.

I’m going to try to get out for a quick walk to try to destress. I spent my morning/afternoon caking and shopping with Ms. 6 (and NB who insisted on tagging along). The amount of energy it takes me to manage that type of situation right now is astounding to me. It was fine—even good. Ms. 6 was happy but I am beyond drained from being a cheerleader and trying to help choose appropriate teen clothing for school that keeps her happy and meets (super minimum) dress code standards, as well as being the thinking brain for most of my family members who are struggling with ADHD.

DH seems to have extremely limited skills for being on time (problematic when kids need to be dropped off and picked up on time), prioritizing tasks, and motivating himself to do super necessary things like getting a job. I’m weary and angry as I have been the breadwinner for nine of our nearly 13 years of marriage. He needs to be working a legitimate job making actual money as our adoption assistance is ending for two of our kids in the next year or so, and we are not all going to make it on my $53k/year. Cue further stress for me: finding the jobs, walking him through the application process, nagging him to ensure he’s met the deadline. I had no idea this is what was in store when we married. He wasn’t diagnosed then and it’s a lot easier to manage crap when you’re only taking care of yourself, so even if he was diagnosed, I don’t think I would have been prepared for what we are dealing with right now.

Any advice from people with ADHD or those successfully married to a partner who is? I’m really struggling as my attention is needed elsewhere, and frankly I’m beyond tired.

I'm looking for a fandomless rp with ocs. I have a couple ideas, though not anything I'm too set on, and would strongly prefer to figure out the plot and specifics together

romance, angst and fluff, hurt/comfort, fantasy/magic in a modern setting – love it, adore it, gimme anything dystopian/apocalypse or just dark/horror/mafia/historical settings are not up my alley cannot do actual slow burn justice, but yearning/pining is fun. smut is required, can even be the main focus, but still with plot

age-gaps and (step)cest are something that I am very interested in at the moment and would love to write (not looking for 🍪 though) I won't do any non-con, (extremely) toxic/abusive dynamics, pregnancy, humiliation/degradation. no scat, vore, gore, bestiality either

basically, I'm looking to write somewhat problematic things but with genuine romance and maybe slightly rose-tinted glasses

I write on discord only, multi-para (I break 2k characters limit but not always, and it depends on the scene) and in 3rd person. I don't expect you to match me, sometimes I just write a lot and don't need you to do the same – simply give me enough to work with (2-3 paras at least)

rapid fire is the dream, but I do have a full-time job, so looking for anyone active who can do 2 (and more) posts a day (currently on vacation, so will be more active the next week and a half) if you'll take longer with your post – please communicate so (also if there are any issues/you don't like something – tell me too) if you have a tendency to be inconsistent in your activity or disappear/ghost, please don't interact. if you cannot realistically write 2 or more posts a day, please do not interact either

I generally make ocs for specific rps to make sure they fit whatever we come up with. irl face claims or picrews/art/etc, all fine, I just need to have a visual of what your oc looks like - if you have a preference, I'll adjust

I'd like it if we could chat ooc and exchange headcanons, pinterest boards, gush about our ocs, plot together, etc. also looking for this to be long-term

Uchiha Week 2023 - Our Intention + Rules

from the 17th to the 23rd of July

Our intention for this event is to put some light on the Uchiha clan and celebrate all its members. The Uchihas are not only a shinobi clan but also a group of families, and like in any family gathering there is always the popular one, the prettiest one, the black sheep, the weird one, the problematic one, the one that no one remember the name, and so on and so forth...

We, as a fandom, act kind of the same way towards each other. Yet, this summer we wish to reunite the whole Uchiha fandom under the same positive task of creating more contents for our blorbo and why not creating also more content for some Uchiha that you usually don't pay much attention. Let's bring everyone together and celebrate what set them aside as the most popular and powerful clan of the Narutoverse.

2. At least one Uchiha-born needs to be the focus of your art :

-Main Uchihas : Sasuke, Madara, Itachi, Obito, Fugaku, Mikoto, Izuna, Tajima, Izumi, Shisui, Naori, Kagami, Sarada, Indra (yeah… technically not an Uchiha but he fathered them all!)

-Minor Uchihas : Inabi, Tekka, Uruchi, Teyaki, Yashiro, three unknown Madara’s brothers, Madara's mum.

3. Loose interpretation, and/or NSFW version of each prompt is allowed except inc*st and paedo***.

NB: inc*st concerns family relationship : parent/children, grandparent/grandchildren, sibling/sibling, first cousin/first cousin. A clan is different, by definition it's a mix of different family lineages which see themselves as descending from the same distant ancestor (in this case Indra).
