saw some speculation on FranklyDear in relation to the audios and i want to toss my two cents in

so all the thing's i've been seeing have been people talking about how they're a couple, but they're not acting like it, so that must be Playfellow's influence making them put distance between each other

but i immediately interpreted it as - they're not there yet. there might be feelings, but they aren't Together. cause in the 14 bug audios, i feel like it's pretty clear that these are snapshots of the neighborhood outside of the show. cameras aren't rolling, there are no influences, it's the neighbors just Existing on their own dime

'cause the conversations are more natural! the characters seem more nuanced! there aren't any sound effects! so if FranklyDear is already established, wouldn't we have "seen" that in their shared audio 8-14? wouldn't Eddie have just called Frank Frank, without the immediate (and somewhat flustered) correction to Mr. Frankly? and wouldn't Frank call him Eddie instead of Mr. Dear? plus, idk about y'all, but that scene was a lil romantically charged. a little flirty - especially from Frank's side. the kind of tension you get from budding emotions, not fully-realized ones

they just seem to be in a before state. the beginning stages. and anyway, i remember Clown saying that revealing FranklyDear as an endgame couple was sort of an Accident? i think we were meant to watch it evolve and figure it out along with the characters, the way we will with any other relationships (that we Definitely are not aware of / confident about yet).

we're still only in the prologue of the story, so it'd make so much sense if Frank and Eddie are not yet Involved. we're on this journey With them

Have you ever been reading Devil’s Minion and thinking to yourself, “damn, I just can’t nail down a face for Daniel”? Have you watched Interview with the Vampire and felt like neither Christian Slater nor River Phoenix hit the mark for you?

Allow me to introduce you to James fucking Spader.

Look at him! Is that not the face of Daniel, completely fed up with Armand feeding his cigarettes down the garbage disposal?

He’s got the naive and beautiful face but ALSO the defiant yet beseeching thing down! Also he was like 22 here, which is right around the age Daniel met Armand so he’s at peak Healthy, Pretty Molloy here. No wonder Louis decided to take him home!!

Spader is the original 80′s pretty boy you’d assume starred as the leading man in some schmoopy romances or schlocky teen dramas and he did that for a minute. Like check him out in Pretty in Pink-

 Is this not peak Night Island Daniel, in his Miami Vice looking bespoke suit ready to head out with Armand for the night?

Look at him snuggled into his blanket in Tuff Turf, like Daniel hungover and forcibly woken up to honky tonk piano tunes!

But the deliciousness doesn’t end at his looks. Because in true Molloy fashion that man said ‘you know what? I wanna make movies for freaks and weirdos only’

In Sex, Lies and Videotape he plays the sweetest pervert who loves interviewing women about their sex lives, video taping it, and then watching them back naked but not actually getting off! He’s impotent, he’s a gentle and lovely weirdo, there’s vampire!Daniel fodder for days in this one.

Crash is a horny flick that defies all explanation and really you need to go in blind if you’re gonna watch this one, but let me just say this: If Spader and his Wife in this film aren’t the most Daniel and Armand coded couple in cinema history I will eat my shoes. Also there’s tons of beautiful footage of him driving around at night with his blond hair ruffling in the breeze.

Your prefer your Daniel with glasses? Oh, perfect, because in Bad Influence he plays a sweet guy who gets into a fucked up situation with a toxic friend and a sex tape!

In Storyville he lets himself be thrown on the floor and lays there submissively before getting involved in yet another sex tape scandal!

Don’t even get me started on Dream Lover, another smut filled romp (with some filthy deleted scenes if you google the uncut version) which has the most Devil’s Minion promo photos of all time-

I could just go all day about his body of work but some of it you’ve just gotta see for yourself. In pretty much every film you’re guaranteed smut with him being deliciously submissive, extremely gentle with his hands, and down for all kinds of kink. I'm rewatching this mainly to study the components adapted by D&D regarding the Meereen plot with the slavers.

Dany was necessarily aged up, they adapted the Dothraki to be somehow more orientalist and racist than the books (no word for "thank you?" gtfo), and completely neglected Dany's own relationship with being enslaved. Even the most crucial aspects of her early abuse are hand-waved, even when there is a literal in-text comparison to Dany and Khal Drogo's enslaved people wearing golden collars.

GRRM famously wondered what made Aragorn a "good" king, and wondered about his tax policy. Here, he adapts it by having Dany's freed advisor, Missandei of Nath, tactically hit the slavers where it hurts - taxes. People can sell themselves into services, but former enslavers can't sell those they used to own, and husbands cannot sell wives. However morally dubious, these policies have a chilling effect on the trade. There are many unhappy components to Dany's compromise with slavers, but it is my opinion that GRRM is demonstrating the limits of compromise with people who don't believe in the humanity of others.

My research means there is a lot I can go into (like the inherent racism of the whole plot), but I feel the most crucial is the fact D&D, Confederate sympathizers that they are, distilled Hizdar's character to Brown Face to pretend that Dany is a white settler colonizer Just As Bad as the slavers for taking away their sacred fighting right of watching poor people butcher each other and laughing as helpless people are eaten by lions :(((

The haunt didn't admit kids under 14 without an adult, so Olive had to go with one of the very few adults in her life and her grandmother had volunteered Stan. When asked why Aggie herself couldn't go, Aggie replied with "I cannot be held accountable for what I do when I'm startled." Which Olive took to mean that her gran would probably do a nasty spell on someone who scared her too hard.

"Soos isn't scary. He's too nice." Olive explains, "And everyone in town knows him. This thing's got a bunch of outta towners runnin it. So no one will get taken outta the scare because the realize the guy in the hockey mask is just Toby Determined." She grins up at Stan, looking quite a bit like her grandmother had at 12. "Apparently it's so scary and intense that they make ya sign a waiver, and they got a paramedic on sight for when people's hearts stop from the fear." On the last bit she exudes a bit of showmanship that she had picked up from him, though she wouldn't admit to it. "And apparently if you pee your pants, they give ya a free t-shirt."

She glares at the teenager who looks like they're about to question of the "little kid" could handle the haunt. The teen glares back and Olive sticks her tongue out at them as they pass. As they enter the final waiting area before entering the house, Olive nudges him with her elbow, a classic Yearling sign of affection. "Thanks for taking me, Mr. Pines." She beams at him before focusing her attention forward, locking into the experience. Her hand goes into her pocket, resting over the full matchbook and strip of firecrackers she's hidden in there. She'd overheard one of the proprietors of this haunt at the diner talking smack about the Shack, and Olive was keen on seeking revenge.

Oh, she'll have fun alright.
