So came I came across this repost from Al that a fan posted yesterday to which she reposted and to have her say and ad I much I can see she trying to defend ms with the radio getting his name wrong it a common thing for poor ms and I don't think this personally was the guys fault and I think they was reading from a script which I think most radio presenters have I think.

But the thing I noticed also was yes she was trying to defend her parter but also seems complaining that she and the children have to endure listening to the station in the car all the time and that like a another red flag like they literally have nothing in common and I'm still wondering why they still together. Cos I've noticed since michael been London he seems alot happier and heathly cos he closer to his best friend and beaming also. Can we have him stay permanently in London and not go bk to Wales in May.

What ur thoughts on this repost for Al I would to hear

I had this sent to me a little while ago and I'm...well, it takes a lot to floor me these days, especially in this fandom, but...I think this did it. Because there is so much going on here, and almost none of it is good.

On the surface, I know this very much looks like AL defending Michael, but I do not think that's what this was about at all. I think she saw BBC Radio 6 tagged in the original tweet and saw an opportunity to gain attention due to the proximity of a high-profile account. The way she did it, however, was by making something related to Michael about her. Again. And again, the wording of this retweet takes it from AL defending him to something else entirely.

Saying that she has to "endure" Michael listening to this radio show in the car is just a terrible look, as if listening to something he enjoys is so unbearably awful, and that she only puts up with because she's stuck in a car with him. It feels like she's literally complaining about Michael under the pretense of defending him, and I don't know how she (or anyone else) thinks this is okay.

The thing is, the whole "Martin Sheen" thing has become a running joke precisely because Michael has been dealing with this not just for his whole career, but his entire life. It's something he has frequently talked about, and I can imagine that it has been challenging on so many levels, but Michael also knows that Martin Sheen has been in the business for 60 years, and more than that, he is also a fan of Martin's. He's even talked about being introduced to him at a party years ago (I can't remember by whom, but Michael described the person as saying "Mr. President, meet Mr. Prime Minister"--referring to Martin and Michael's roles in The West Wing and The Queen, respectively).

So yes, the overarching point is that Michael doesn't blame Martin Sheen for these repeated mix-ups, and actually respects him as an actor and person. And when he has felt annoyed about this happening (as he did in 2020 when an ITV announcer called him the wrong name prior to a new episode of Quiz), Michael has had no problem calling it out himself on his own social media. Which speaks to your point @thetardisisblueandroseistoo about her trying to speak on Michael's behalf, and again doing a miserable job of it.

Also, what Michael hasn't done--and I suspect would be horrified at Anna doing--is go after the hosts of a show that he just appeared on yesterday. Particularly a show with hosts he is a tremendous fan of, as he spent a good portion of his appearance gushing about them and how much he enjoys listening to the show. I think he would more than understand the one host making this mistake--given his age and how much more embedded Martin Sheen is in pop culture--and would certainly exercise a lot more graciousness than to write a nasty tweet like the one AL did above.

That's the best way I can describe it: Shades of what we saw in the Insta story from last week, with that same self-aggrandizing, passive-aggressive (and now also kind of bitter) tone. There are a hundred other ways she could have responded to this, yet what she chose was to get in a dig at Michael, plus QT a fan tweet so that it could be misconstrued as her yelling at the fan. And again, in the cases where Michael has called out announcers or others for getting his name wrong, it's because he felt he deserved to have his name said correctly. In this case, however, it seems that AL wants the presenter to get Michael's name right because not doing so is an inconvenience to her.

Those were my impressions of AL's tweet, at any rate. All I can say is that from my perspective, if this was her attempting to defend Michael, it could not have been more backhanded. Glad to hear from my followers as well about your thoughts on this. Thanks for writing in! x

@thetardisisblueandroseistoo I mean, regardless of what may happen with David and Georgia's marriage (and I'm not saying you're entirely wrong), what I take from this is that I do not understand anyone who still wants to dismiss even the possibility of David being anything other than 100% straight. Especially if their reason for doing so is only that he is married to a woman.

Because when I look at this photo from tonight, I see a lot of things:

I see silliness. I see joy. I see (more than a little) tipsiness. But what I see most of all is someone who isn't hiding anymore. That could mean one of several things, of course. David could just be a really flamboyant straight man who's finally being open about that side of him, and there is nothing wrong with that.

When taken together with everything we have seen over the last year, however--the abundance of Pride gear David has been wearing, the flashy/bright/sparkly suits, the interviews where he talks so emotionally about Pride--it starts to feel like something else. That it's not just the clothes; it's that the clothes are an external representation of something David is feeling on the inside.

Maybe in the past he felt the need to dress or behave a certain way for the sake of his public image (which as you said is something that's happened with countless other celebrities), but whatever is on the inside now is demanding to be seen, heard, and respected. And I genuinely love that David now seems to be in a place in his life where he can let that out without worrying what other people think...

hi, so in the comments of a recent post, you mentioned the fact that Georgia helped produce a lesbophobic movie, which movie was it and what happened?

Hi there! Yes, I did mention this in a comment on a post. The movie in question is called You, Me, and Him and it came out in 2017. It was written and directed by Daisy Aitkens, who is one of Georgia's best friends, and produced by Georgia, as well as by Phin Glynn (who also produced Staged, interestingly enough) and stars David as John Helm.

The basic plot (and warning for spoilers ahead) is that there is a lesbian couple, Olivia (who is in her 40s) and Alex (who is in her 20s), who are having problems/disagreeing about having children. Unbeknownst to Alex, Olivia begins undergoing fertility treatments but struggles to conceive. John (David's character) is their neighbor, and he is meant to be a sleazy, womanizing, "toxic alpha" type of guy. Alex goes to one of John's parties and gets extremely drunk, and they end up having a one-night stand, and as a result, Alex becomes pregnant.

So right out of the gate, the issue of dubcon (dubious consent) is apparent, as Alex was too drunk to consent, and arguably so was John, who was also intoxicated. The second problem is that them hooking up is characterized as Alex "cheating" on Olivia--despite her inability to give consent--and consequently, she and Olivia break up. Not long after, Olivia discovers that the fertility treatment worked, so she and Alex are pregnant at the same time. This then leads to John being the one who has to "fix" the situation between Alex and Olivia and try to get them back together.

Beyond that, there were several jokes about John "turning her straight" and the trope of Alex not wanting kids until a man came along and got her pregnant, which also felt like it made the wlw relationship become secondary to the growing relationship (though not romantic) between Alex and John. There also seemed to be the sexist trope of two women being too "emotional" to resolve their own problem and needing a man to do it for them. All of this is what gave me the impression of the movie being lesbophobic--not to mention just not being written well in general, which contributed to most of the issues I have outlined.

I do want to be clear that David is in no way blameless for his decision to take on the role of John and participate in the film. He wasn't originally cast in the part--which becomes painfully obvious because of how difficult it is to buy him as a toxic alpha male--but rather stepped in at the last minute as a favor to Georgia when the original actor dropped out, as he likely would not have played the role otherwise. And to his credit, he does somehow manage to imbue the character of John with a certain degree of charm, but even he couldn't save the movie from itself or the critics who reviewed it.

This is all my own opinion on the movie, of course, and I would urge you or anyone else who hasn't seen it to watch it and decide for yourself. I hope this helps to answer your question, though, and hopefully other folks will comment with their thoughts on the movie. Thanks for writing in! x

I think the biggest thing for me is how wildly uncomfortable they both look in these pictures, but in completely different ways. And then also that in this picture, she seems to be visibly recoiling/leaning away from him:

I am by no means a body language expert, so I'm happy for others to weigh in and share their thoughts, but Michael and AL just do not look like they belong together. To paraphrase @thetardisisblueandroseistoo, they look like when a bridesmaid and groomsman who have never met before are asked to walk down the aisle together at a wedding. Of course, the discomfort could be because there were a bunch of paparazzi taking pictures and cameras flashing in their faces (which is certainly not an easy thing to deal with). But it's such a strange thing to think that normally their body language is reversed (AL leaning into Michael's space and him not leaning into hers), and here he seems to actually be trying (somewhat), yet she just looks repulsed.

I've written previously on my blog about how AL only seems to like Michael when he looks a certain way that she deems "presentable," and when he doesn't, she resorts to making passive-aggressive comments about his appearance. This seems to track with whatever is going on here, as it is very reminiscent of snarky comments she made when he had a similar look and build for the role of Chris Tarrant in Quiz:

It seems possible, then, that the discomfort also emanates from the fact that she is embarrassed by how he looks/how they look together on the red carpet.

Another possible contributing factor is that Michael hates to shave--we know it's not how he prefers to present himself to the world--and so it almost feels like he's hiding in a too-big suit as a result. It pains me to even say it, because I do love Michael and I think he always looks so handsome, but whoever dressed him/put him in that suit did not do him any favors. Especially because we have seen him happier and in a much more well-tailored suit at the Pride of Britain awards in 2019:

It's just so jarring to see Michael by himself on a red carpet (or with David, or with any of his previous girlfriends) as compared to with her. There was even a PR article in the Daily Mail about how "loved up" they looked, which came across as incredibly forced and hollow. As always, I know I could be wrong about all this, but the fact that I and so many others felt so much secondhand discomfort upon seeing these pictures seems to speak volumes...

New red carpet pics and ugh what is wrong with APAT? Can’t she look happy even for paparazzi? And why does Michael always look so uncomfortable next to her in public?

Happy Good Omens S2 Anniversary!! 🤍🖤

Ahh, thank you so much, and Happy GO 2 anniversary to you, too! ❤️

It's so strange to think of what was happening one year ago. I was one day away from moving into a new apartment, and GO 2 was the last thing I watched in my old place, where I'd lived for 15 years. My life packed in boxes, world in upheaval, and there was season two as an oasis of calm in the midst of it all.

What made it even more special was getting to watch the season with @thetardisisblueandroseistoo with both of us on the phone at the same time. I didn't have anyone to watch GO season 1 with, or to really share in the fandom with right afterward in 2019, so for both of us to be reacting in real time--the tears, the laughter, and oh, the moments of silence--was such an incredible experience. To feel like I wasn't alone, and that someone else "got it" and had those feelings in tandem meant so much to me, and still does now.

It was also incredible to see the fandom spring to life following the release of season 2, and the new burst of energy and creativity that came along with it. (I regrettably missed out on a lot at least on Facebook, as my FB was hacked two days after season 2 came out, and I only just got it back now, after a year. But I digress...) I've loved seeing the fans from all the different iterations (OG book fans, radio show fans, TV season 1 fans, TV season 2 fans, etc.) commingle and share our collective joy and sorrow at what the Husbands have gone through, and the emotions brought so captivatingly to life thanks to the gorgeous, searing chemistry between Michael and David.

And now here we are awaiting season three and the bittersweet conclusion of our story. Bittersweet not because of whatever the plot itself may be, but because it will be the moment we finally say goodbye to Aziraphale and Crowley. They won't be on our screens, but they will still live on--in the South Downs and in our hearts, in the work we create to honor what this series has given us.

A part of me is looking forward to it and dreading it in equal measure, and yet I know my life will be forever better because of Good Omens and the friends I've made in the fandom. I was in such a different place mentally when I found the show in 2019, and I am so, so grateful that GO came along when I needed it the most. I can't wait to see how the story ends, and to see all the stories we'll keep telling long after.

@no-paperwork That's something I was also talking about with @thetardisisblueandroseistoo earlier. Not just what Michael says in that interview, but how he says it. It almost seems like a slip-up, like he'd gotten so used to saying it in private but wasn't at all used to having to watch what he says in public. Especially since that interview took place not even two months into lockdown, and Michael seemed to go crazy slightly faster than most people.

I know there are a lot of new folks in the fandom now, but there were so many instances back then--those early days of lockdown--where Michael kept bringing up David. To name a few: The slinky hips video. Mentioning that he (not him and AL, but Michael himself) watched David's entire filmography. And of course, this interview. So the more you look back at all this, the more it seems that, like the rest of us, Michael was slipping into madness during the lockdown...and the one thing he held onto to try and stay sane, the thing he clung to the most, to feel some sense of normalcy...was David.

Also, the pause you mentioned feels like Michael caught himself for a split second, like he knew what he was about to say but couldn't stop himself from saying it. And maybe more importantly, he didn't want to stop himself from saying it, regardless of the potential consequences. Michael has never been one to toe the PR line, and nothing demonstrates that more vividly than moments like this. Amazing...

Hi there! Yes, I have heard and seen that Georgia has deactivated her Twitter page. For those who may have missed out on what happened yesterday and today that lead to this, you can read the whole backstory in @thetardisisblueandroseistoo's post and my reblog here.

I think this entire situation is a mess, and that no one on either side handled themselves particularly well. The attacks on Georgia were and are overblown and do nothing to help innocent victims of war, but at the same time, the counter-response of hyper-praising Georgia and saying how "amazing" she is entirely overlooks and ignores her own problematic behavior.

As I mentioned in my other post, this is not the first time Georgia has searched her or David's names, passive-aggressively replied to a tweet from a fan in which she was not tagged, and subsequently sent her followers after the OP to subject them to harassment and death threats. And it incenses me that there were about a hundred reasons to call Georgia out before now for things having nothing to do with this situation--including when she drive-by commented on another fan's tweet two years ago--but people only suddenly care because it's something that affects them. (Which, ironically, is the same thing these fans are accusing Georgia of when it comes to her own social activism/LGBTQ+ issues.)

What a lot of fans ultimately seem to want to ignore is that Georgia started this by picking a fight, and I can think of few things cringier than a grown woman fighting online with a 16-year-old. I know folks will say "That teenager was talking shit and calling Georgia a Zionist and she was correcting their lies." The problem, however, is the way she went about doing it:

Georgia left this comment up for an entire day before responding, likely under the assumption that her trademark snark on a random fan's tweet would earn her praise and adulation, as has happened so frequently in the past. It was only 24 hours later, when it became very apparent that this was not the case, that she chose to add the additional comments and continue digging a rather massive hole for herself.

That said, the subsequent response to her new comments today proved another source of frustration, as I witnessed multiple fans chastise Georgia for not making a stronger statement, fans saying things like "Just say you want a ceasefire, that's all you have to do!" Yet Michael said exactly this back in October, and he was ripped apart for it. What I seem to keep seeing over and over again is a willingness to forgive and defend Georgia because she is a woman and young, and a willingness to spit on and denigrate Michael because he is a middle-aged man. And what no one seems to get is that neither one of these are good, but instead dehumanize Georgia and Michael from both directions.

To your comments, @hunterofartemisblog, I agree that this entire Twitter feud is pointless and a witch hunt. It is the apex of parasocial relationships for these fans to make demands on celebrities they don't know and cast aspersions on their character when said celebrities don't "perform" perfectly to these fans' expectations.

Equally as troubling, however, is what I am seeing now, which is fans acting as if Georgia can do no wrong, and even calling her a "saint." I really do not understand why it is so difficult to treat Georgia and Michael as normal, flawed human persons. Attacking and tearing down Michael only seems to serve to obscure the good he has done (having more than proven his commitment to activism as a UNICEF UK ambassador and working with victims of war in multiple countries), and deifying and excessively praising Georgia only obscures the problematic things she has done and continues to do to fans while shielding herself from any accountability.

Most importantly (and what seems to have fallen by the wayside in all of this), fans engaging in the above behavior does absolutely nothing to help those who are suffering, and instead serves to bolster these fans' assertions that they are doing something "good." I'm left wondering, then, what people think Georgia deactivating her Twitter accomplished. Or in what way two sets of bullies trying to "own" each other did one single thing to help refugees, or displaced persons, or those without access to basic necessities. Because it did nothing. It accomplished nothing, except to prove that neither side can handle one ounce of criticism and will never be willing to listen to each other.

Maybe that's exactly what the people in power want: Performative outrage. Misdirection. Giving vulnerable and emotional young people someone around them to attack and blame, instead of looking at the actions of those above. And maybe these fans played right into it, to the point where some of them are even bragging about getting Georgia to deactivate.

As I said in my previous post, I don't know what the answer is. I am the last person in the world to defend Georgia--and I do not think it speaks highly to her character that the first time she ever faced any controversy and not being worshiped by fans, she turned tail and ran. But I also think that whatever cause these fans started out supporting has become an excuse to hate on Georgia and Michael, and a shield behind which to hide because these fans are so afraid of being hated on themselves.

Earlier this evening, I saw someone say that Georgia only appears supportive because she is afraid of being called unsupportive, but the same seems to be just as true of these fans. I think it would be insanely helpful, then, if everyone involved in this stopped caring so much about appearances and started caring more about honesty. Honestly about the people we admire, and about ourselves. Maybe then we might finally start to get somewhere...
