Derek Hale is a firefighter, a (totally not a werewolf!) person charged specifically with handling search and rescue in fires. During a standard Search and Rescue op, he finds another man standing peacefully in the middle of the flames. That, really, is where all the trouble starts, looking back. (The Firefighter Derek Hale and Spark Stiles Stilinski getting together fic you never knew you needed, but got anyway.)
