The Kingdom of Brosnia celebrates the Independence Day
8th of June, 1922. The Kingdom of Brosnia commemorates today the 128th anniversary of the victory on the Independence War (1793-1795). The celebrations began in the morning at the Place du Gerrier at the capital, Bayrón, with the traditional offering to the Soldat Corageux statue. HRH Princess Rose, the Queen’s youngest sister, was the person responsible for the honor of placing the offering this year.
Tumblr media
All members of the brosnian royal family attended the event, and were joined by some members of the government and the church. The ladies of the royal family are the only ones allowed to wear the “brosnian veil” on certain occasions; wearing this veil is considered the greatest honor for a female in Brosnia.
Tumblr media
The Duchess of Deveraux was seen in public for the first time in months after the visit of HIM Emperor Felix IV of the United Realm, and we got to see her in the middle stages of her third pregnancy. The child is due to be born by the end of the year.
After the offering, a Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral. It is tradition to offer this mass to the fallen brosnian soldiers of the war.
Tumblr media
Cleavreau Palace released a message by Her Majesty Queen Edith II, in which she wished all brosnian citizens the happiest and merriest Independence Day and expressed, as usual, her gratitude to “all the sacrifices and lost lives that were made so many years ago, and to which we owe our freedom.”

Edwardian evening dress #3
Tumblr media
Hello simmers! I made this dresses a long time ago, they were one of my first projects. They are an edit of an original mesh by @simspliSIMS. The inspiration comes from the late edwardian period, but they can be used in any formal event. There isn’t much edwardian formal wear out there, so these dresses were really helpful to me when I was playing on that period.
I hope you like it! Please let me know if there are any problems.
You can download the dress here. It comes in 3 different styles with various swatches.
Happy simming! Please do not reupload or claim as your own. Don’t forget to follow me!

The Spanish flu strikes Brosnia
1919. The Spanish flu has spread throughout the country after isolated cases were detected in Bayrón, the capital. Fortunately, last year Brosnia didn’t feel as many effects of the first wave of this influenza virus, but this year the pandemic has been impossible to stop and it has spread following the human paths, from the capital to the country. The war triggered mass movements of men in armies and aboard ships, and probably aided in this virus’s rapid diffusion and attack. The whole world is being affected by this deadly pandemic which we hope will end soon.
Here in Brosnia our hospitals are completely saturated, with mostly all of their beds being full. This is accentuated in the country, where there aren’t many hospitals. The authorities are trying to solve this space problem by establishing temporary hospitals in public buildings and churches. The high number of doctors and nurses trained during the war are essential for the good management of all the health-care facilities over the country. According to the government, there are enough resources in Brosnia to face this current situation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The number of deaths reached 1000 on the last official report, and is updated every few days by the Minister of Health, Sir Gordon Northup. The Ministry of Health remarks the importance of avoiding crowds and only visiting hospitals when absolutely necessary. They also recommend the use of face masks, which is mandatory for public workers such as doctors, nurses, police officers, military, etc. However, no activities or travels within the country are forbidden yet, although it is still a possibility.
The President, Lord Shaw, expressed the need to follow the recommendations in his last speech at the Parliament this week. He also tried to reassure the citizens in their concerns for their health and economy, stating “(...) we will overcome this crisis like we always do. Last year we won a war to worse enemy, and we did it together. This year, the war is against an enemy of microscopic dimensions. It is a different kind of war, I know, but we will win. We will defeat this new enemy.(...)” .
Tumblr media
The royal family is isolated at Devearux Castle in order to avoid any infections. Cleavreau released a statement this morning written by Her Majesty the Queen, in which she expressed her support to the governments actions and urged the citizens to keep safe and follow the recommendations. She also gave her condolences for the deceased and admitted herself to be “very affected” and “deeply sad”.

The influenza virus arrives to the palace: Princess Marge is dead
Tumblr media
1919. Cleavreau Palace announced horrible news this morning: Princess Margaret, better known as Princess Marge, passed away last night at the age of 13 due to the influenza virus. No other members of the royal family have been affected by the virus according to the official communicate that informed of the princess’s death, and they will remain in Deveraux until this crisis passes. The funeral will take place in the following days at the private chapel at Deveraux Castle.
Princess Margaret Joanne Lydia of Cleavreau was Queen Edith and King Joseph’s youngest daughter, born in 1906 at Bayrón. She grew up with her parents at Cleavreau and was educated alongside her older sister, Princess Edith, until the war started. Then she moved north to live with her brother, Prince George, at Deveraux, where she celebrated her first holy communion. The young princess was known for her sweet and kind personality that contrasted with that of her older sisters.
We don’t know yet how this devastating news will affect the Queen and King Joseph, but it surely will be a significant blow. Let’s hope they find the strength to face this hard shock and accept God’s will. Princess Marge will forever have a place in our hearts.

Victory and Peace
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1918. Peace has arrived. The ceasefire began more than a week ago, and in this time several official events have taken place in Brosnia. The same morning the fight ended, the 11th of November, all the members of the Parliament, including Her Majesty the Queen, offered a minute’s silence in memory of all de victims. The official number of casualties was then updated to 26.543, making this war the most lethal of all times. Afterwards, the President, Lord Shaw, gave a speech in which he made an appeal to peace and remembrance.
“(...)After four years of incessant noise and fury, of dark nights and terror, the weapons have fallen silent on the western front. The victory of our great nation is celebrated with pride and glory. (...) However, the breakdown is everywhere, and the mourning feels even more alive every minute that passes. We, the government, chosen by the people of Brosnia, have gathered today here to celebrate victory, but also to celebrate the peace. We are here to celebrate and pay tribute to all those who have given their lives in service of their Queen and country, and all those who have made sacrifices. (...) This victory is not only ours to celebrate, but also theirs to thank for. We know now how the strength of nationalism and totalitarianism can destroy democracies and the heart of any civilization worth of a name. (...) Let’s commemorate today the end of dreadful time and the start of a new era(...)”
Last Sunday a special service was celebrated in St. Mary’s Cathedral  in memory of all the fallen brosnian soldiers, followed by a military parade that lead to the palace. All of the members of the royal family attended the event, including Her Majesty’s younger daughters, Princess Marge and Princess Edith, who is expected to marry in the next two years. We could even see a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Deveraux  3-year-old daughter, Princess Clarisse, as she made her first public appearance at the palace’s balcony. Her younger brother, Prince Nathaniel, stayed in Deveraux since he is too young to travel yet.
Let’s hope the future brings us better times and the nation can recover from this crisis as quickly as possible.

Brosnian women in times of war
War has affected all of us. Men have had to leave their homes to fight for their queen and country. Large numbers of women have been recruited into jobs vacated by those men. Though there was initial resistance to hiring women for what is seen as “men’s work”, the need for workforce has surpassed that thought.
Working class women
Tumblr media
Some women living in the country have taken over their husband’s land work, adding that to their traditional duties as mothers and housewives. A lot of women from the industrialized areas have begun working in factories as a result of the high demand of weapons in the munitions factories.
Tumblr media
Other women have contributed to the war effort working as secretaries and nurses in the military, as part of the government’s plan to guarantee the army as many men as it needs.
Tumblr media
Because of the amount of women that have started working, the need for childcare has also increased. This has prompted the government to provide some funds towards the cost of day nurseries for factories, farm, nursing and secretary workers, and by 1918 there are more than 43 day nurseries across the country.
Domestic service
Tumblr media
War has also affected domestic service all around Brosnia. The female staff (housemaids, ladysmaids, kitchen staff...) have had to take over some of their fellow male partner’s work, such as waiting the table, receiving guests or moving heavy furniture.
Upper class women
Tumblr media
Not much has changed for the upper class ladies compared to the working class women, but that doesn’t mean their lives have not been altered. The social season was suspended in 1914 when the war started, and so have most of the upper class social events. At the beginning, most of the brosnian women from wealthy families stayed at their homes, hoping that the conflict would end soon. However, they gradually started to contribute in different ways: a lot of them have donated money, promoted charities, joined the nursing corps and so on. Some of them have even offered their homes as hospitals or recovery centers for the soldiers that come back from the front.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wages and rights
Women’s employment rates have increased since the beginning of the war, although they get paid a lot less than men. There is a worry that employers will continue to employ women because of this, even when men return from the war. Lord Shaw, however, has assured that actions will be taken to prevent that from happening, although that has not been well received by the suffrage movement militants, who demand “equal pay for equal work” and and improvement in working women’s rights.

The Royal Family’s life in times of war
1917. A lot has happened to the royal family of Brosnia since the war started. HRH Princess Edith and HRH Princess Margaret moved to Deveraux Castle with their brother, the Duke of Deveraux, to minimize the effects of the war to their upbringing. There, Princess Margaret celebrated her First Holy Communion.
Tumblr media
HRH Princess Susan stayed at the capital, Baryón, because she was engaged to marry Mr. Thomas Melbourne, the eldest son of the Duke of Noirée and heir to his title and properties. The coupled got married in a small ceremony at the royal chapel in Cleavrau Palace and is expecting their first child, that is due to be born next year.
Tumblr media
HRH Princess HĂ©lĂšne gave up her rights to the throne and took the holy vows to join the Benedictine Sisters of the Sacre-Coeur of Crayontre. Her Majesty the Queen gave her permission to the princess as is requested by the law, and expressed being “very pleased” with her decision.
Tumblr media
The youngest member of the family, HRH Princess Clarisse, is growing up and it is said that she is a very sweet and loving little girl. She is also about to have a younger sibling; it has been announced that the Duke and Duchess of Deveraux are expecting their second child.

The Duke and Duchess of Deveraux announce the birth of their second child
1918. The palace announced this morning the recent birth of the Duke and Duchess of Deveraux’s second child. The little prince was born a month ago, on 15 December. He was christened HRH Prince Nathaniel George Joseph of Cleavreau on Christmas morning at Deveraux. His godparents were the duke’s uncle, HRH Prince William of Cleavreau, and the duchess’s sister-in-law, Miss Caroline Hughes.
The reception after the ceremony was rather small and private, only the family’s closest relations attended. Later, a modest Christmas banquet was held at Deveraux Castle. The royal family’s celebrations have been kept private and small since the war started to avoid wasting money and focus on the war effort. This has been very well received by the citizens and has increased the popularity of Her Majesty the Queen. Let’s just hope that this war finishes soon and our soldiers com home safe.

The Duchess of Deveraux joins the nursing corps for a day
1916. Lady Amelia of Cleavreau, the Duchess of Deveraux, joined the nursing corps for a day to promote the nurse training program created by the government. The nurses are doing an essential and extraordinary effort to take care of all the men that come back from the war, but all help must and will be welcome. A lot of recovery centers and hospitals have erected these days and they need all the help they can get. The Duchess of Deveraux visited one of these recovery facilities located in Windenburg, inside Mr. Harry Melbourne’s country house, Melions Park. She was seen wearing a nurse outfit, an absolutely unprecedented gesture by a member of the royal family. She helped to nurse the wounded soldiers and learned about all the work that’s being done there. Later, she took a picture with some of the volunteer nurses to be used as propaganda of their work and inspire others to join in.

Prince George Thomas Alexander of Brosnia marries Miss Amelia Clarisse Hughes, now Duke and Duchess of Deveraux
1911. The wedding was celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral, as well as the Queen and King Joseph’s wedding in 1888. The ceremony was officiated by His Exellency the Bishop of Windenburg. More than 200 guests attended the celebration, including the members of the royal family and most of the brosnian aristocracy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bride wore a beautiful white lace dress and a white bouquet and looked very happy as she was walking down the aisle accompanied by her father, Sir Joseph Hughes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This highly expected marriage represents the future of the nation and the certainty that brosnian tradition live on and will continue to do so. We wish the newlyweds the best and we hope they will soon provide the country with an heir now that they are united in holy matrimony.
After the ceremony, the couple and the royal family went back to Cleavreau Palace, where they made their traditional appeareance at the balcony to greet all the people who went there to celebrate this remarkable occasion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later in the evening, a state dinner was held at Cleavreau Palace and her Majesty Queen Edith II announced her present for the young couple: Deveraux Castle, one of her country homes. The new Duke and Duchess of Deveraux are going to live there until their reigning time begins.

Shaw: “Our soldiers have everything they need (...) We will win this war”
1916. President Shaw gave a speech this morning at the parliament to clarify the controversy that the pictures from the front created these last few days.
“I speak to you today to make clear that this government has not neglected the needs and well-being of our soldiers. Ever since this awful war started, it has our duty and priority to provide our army with it needs. I repeat; our boys have all the supplies they need. Those pictures were taken without permission and in the worst possible moment, and they do not reflect the reality that’s being experienced at the gaurei front. War isn’t pretty, war isn’t glamorous; war is war. War is loss, war is fear, war is death; but it’s also resilience, strength and courage.
My opponents from the Socialist and Liberal Party are too busy focusing in the first three and blaming this government for them, when we should be focusing on the last. We, your leaders, are committed to you, the people. People who are losing their fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, cousins and friends because of the evil actions perpetuated by the corrupt and undemocratic government of Gauland. We will not be defeated, we will all pull together and fight for a better and fairer world. And once we have won, it will all be thanks to you. Let’s focus on what really matters and that day will come soon enough.”
Her Majesty the Queen also attended the meeting as Head of State and Honorary Counselor of the Parliament to support the president’s speech and the government.

The King and the Duke of Deveraux visit the troops
Tumblr media
1914. His Majesty King Joseph and Prince George, the Duke of Devereaux visited the Jamson Military Base this morning. They reviewed the new facilities that have been built in order to accommodate the new soldiers while they complete their training time before going to the front. Later on, they met with the brosnian’s military high commands to discuss strategies and coming war plans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The president, Lord Shaw, has assured the nation that this war will be won for “the honor and freedom of this our country”, but in order for that to happen, every brosnian citizen has to contribute in any way they can. In these difficult times we must all pull together and trust in our boys at the front, who are putting their lives at risk for their Queen and country. As the Queen asked on her latest statement, “(...)Please, pray for them, take care of yourselves and take care of others. Generosity will be rewarded in the end(...)”
