Okay okay I know the death doula is causing a lot of discourse rn but I’m not focused on that I’m more focused on the potential my brain supplied from this idea, I mean a living funeral and buck interested in some capacity to a death doula this in my head can so easily equal buck making slightly morbid comments about his death and near death experiences or saying something about how he understands why someone would want a living funeral and he would wanna know what it would be like and then Eddie just having an absolutely batshit response to Buck nonchalantly talking about his death
(like for any teen wolf fans remember that scene where stiles goes off at Lydia saying “See, that's the problem. You–you don't care about getting hurt. But you know how I'll feel? I'll be devastated. And if you die, I will literally go out of my freakin' mind. You see, death doesn't happen to you, Lydia. It happens to everyone around you, okay? To all the people left standing at your funeral, trying to figure out how they're gonna live the rest of their lives now without you in it!” )
IMAGINE SOME VERSION OF THAT ITS SO GOOD IT MAKES MY BRAIN SCREECH INCOHERENTLY
Like imagine IMAGINE it alter it to your liking add a reference to Christopher losing another parent or saying how he was dead (for 3 minutes and 17 seconds) and how Buck has no idea how that felt
UGH IT ACTUALLY MAKES ME FERAL TO THINK ABOUT

incoming rant & spoilers for shadow & bone season 2!!
okay, so. not sure how to feel about s2. there were definitely some great elements and performances but a lot of it felt disjointed. s1 felt really well executed from my memory, whereas this season’s pacing felt all over the place.
they also somehow managed to spend too much time on romances and yet also not enough?? we got a lot of kisses for different couples, but the relationships didn’t feel as fleshed out. it was a lot of people telling each other how much they meant to one another in grand speeches, but not enough scenes actually showing them connecting or getting to know one another on a deeper level.
thought kaz/inej was done pretty well in terms of trying to keep the tension they have in the books, (their performance as a couple was incredible, they are both so talented), but wesper felt rushed in my opinion. especially because, as i’ve seen others point out, wesper in the novels have a perfect slowburn (they were my favourite couple when i read the books).
and i’m torn… because i think kit and jack embody the characters so so well. jack’s version of wylan is amazing - he has created a wonderful balance between wylan’s brain and sass and quiet determination, while also giving him little mannerisms that hint at wylan’s canonical backstory. (i literally squeaked out loud multiple times at how adorable wylan’s shyness came off. like are you kidding me??? i am in pieces). and kit has been jesper in my mind since the second he stepped on screen in s1.
i don’t even hate the idea of them having hooked up prior to the events in s2. i understand this is an adaptation and they have to change things around because of time constraints/weaving two narratives together that don’t actually cross in the books, but the way they sped through it felt… idk.
did i like getting to see them be domestic and together? yes. they are very cute, they’re soft flirting was perfect. but i’d be lying if i said it didn’t kinda cost them development. i know they are a fan favourite couple and a lot of us were excited for that romance specifically and i think we also weren’t even expecting one kiss this season, let alone a whole bunch. s3 was also gonna be a long shot so they were trying to give us what they could. i just feel like the writers made it a shallower relationship.
i think that’s the take away for me overall, honestly. it wasn’t a terrible season, but it was a lot more shallow, which sucks because the characters and relationships have a lot of nuance in the books.
