i know we’re talking about THAT chapter right now, but i need another day to cope y’all <3 anon i promise i’ll answer but angst actually kills me lol

so instead !!

i’m here to present my case that toge would absolutely be the first choice of a pseudo-god parent. not for any religious reasons, if there was a better name i’d use it, but i think jjk definitely has a need for that system.

with how common mortality is, the high demand in sorcerers, the uncertainties of their lifestyle… i mean just look at megumi. not exactly the same, but in any case, they need to know that their kids will be okay if anything ever happens.

i personally headcanon that nobamaki would have twin boys because it’s actually adorable to me. they expected at least one girl at first, they even had their names picked out. mai and saori, after two of the most important people in their lives. but around the time it got closer, maki started second guessing naming the name mai, wondering if she’d ever be able to associate it with anything but her sister.

then two healthy baby boys came into the world, masaki and takai, elegant and beginning, new world. not exactly a copy of maki and mai, whose names corresponded with hope and each other, but a homage. an act of service to what they never got to see together.

anyway, toge was absolutely their first choice for a godparent.

individually, their relationship with him is one of their strongest dynamics for both characters.

yes, nobara loves yuuji and megumi in her own way. yuuji might have been the second pick if he wasn’t so head empty, eating cursed fingers. i truly do not think megumi would have been entrusted with any of her children lol, that boy is emo and emotionally stunted (in a nice way).

maki and yuuta friendship is so good, but he’s still kind of pathetic. his favorite food is sesame oil and cabbage y’all, there’s no way. panda would’ve been the second pick if he wasn’t such an instigator.

on the other hand, nobara understand toge so well that it freaks out even the second years. after being kidnapped, she was first hand witness to his dependable side and kindness. he’s like a big brother to her, and i know without a doubt that their dynamic only got stronger after that. they are the besties, shopping buddies, gossip squad, unserious duo. he takes care of her, he notices when her self-esteem is lower and immediately addresses it. he was the one to catch her during training, encourage her, and tease her. i cannot stress enough how bestie coded they are.

i might love maki and yuuta friendship, but maki and toge are my absolute favorite to think about. i know the general consensus in their dynamic seems to be toge being a gremlin and maki screaming at him, but i really think they interact in a different way. i’m still waiting for a couple translations from phantom parade, but i truly believe maki genuinely respects and loves toge, vice versa. when we first met yuuta, maki’s first reaction was to bully him lol, but it wasn’t until toge spoke up that she stopped. in the light novel, it’s said repeatedly by nobara that maki respects him. maki herself goes on to openly admit that he’s the most considerate out of all of them, and says that his only flaw is that he can be pretty mischievous. nobara also notes how close the second years are to each other enough that they share a braincell. when you look at the art of them together, there’s only one where maki looks irritated, and it’s only because toge is laughing at her tourist glasses. it’s kind of crazy to me that the dynamic in fanon between toge and maki is actually the canon interactions between panda and maki. i could talk all day about this, but i genuinely see a more placid maki when she interacts with toge and need more of that dynamic. they love each other !!

so yes, they have a really strong relationship with toge, i would venture to say one of the strongest for both characters. emotionally speaking, toge is also shown to be extremely mature.

he doesn’t show much in his body language, but he can read others very well. despite not being able to speak outside of safe words, he’s also good at settling the people around him. most importantly, he’s one of the few characters we’ve never seen lash out. despite being villainized by yuuta lol, smacked by nobara, on the end of gawking by kamo, pushed to near death, permanently disabled, and more, he’s confronted each situation with emotional maturity. the fact that he told yuuta that his arm being torn off wasn’t yuuji’s fault, speaks volumes about the character. yuuta too, when he was afraid, toge tried to comfort him but also backed away when he saw him being scared. silencing himself in itself speaks to his maturity.

as a babysitter, he’s also very well off ! with being the best cook of the second years, he also made sure panda was eating too by feeding him. when left alone with children, he was seamlessly connecting with them to the point where they understood him fluently. his first reactions are always to emotionally and physically protect the first years and yuuta. with his abilities, he also knows more than most the importance and correct way to control abilities. is this not your dream babysitter?

more than that, i truly believe that if anything ever happened to nobamaki, he’d love and raise them as his own with zero hesitation. he’d raise them the way they’d want to and never let them believe that any set of parents loved them even a little less.

with that being said, yuuta gets the default second spot as a godparent purely because toge was the automatic first choice. eventually, when nobamaki have a little girl named saori, they are her godparents too.

i know he holds those babies like he’d tear himself apart for them. it’s a learning curve with one arm at first. he’s scared his prosthetic will get in the way or hurt them. but for some reason the babies seem to adore his prosthetic arm too. tiny fingers wrapped around robotic joints, toge could swear he feels the warmth even through false flesh and phantom pain.

some of their first words end up being onigiri ingredients, it’s only because “mama” came first that nobamaki can see the humor in it. they have to consciously teach their kid that they are capable of saying yes instead of shake. what they don’t realize is that sometimes they talk in onigiri too.

yuuta sulks a bit that his spot is only be default, but he proves himself as a very good godfather and babysitter. he does not feed them cabbage, thank you very much. but they usually ask toge to cook instead, much to Yuuta’s’ devastation.

it’s probably through babysitting that the baby fever reared its head in both of them. watching yuuta hesitantly toss takai in the air after his insistence that mommy does it all the time, and freak out over his health frantically. toge letting masaki cling to his leg in public, always one tiny hand clutching the robotic fingers. yuuta showing masaki how to use a wooden sword in cool moves just likes mommy. toge acting like the damsel in distress for takai to play his games. watching yuuta get swatted by the wooden swords, allies enemies in an instance, toge watching with a tiny smile he doesn’t bother to hide.

they’re good with kids.

at night, it almost hurts to say goodbye. but their own little girl isn’t too far away.

i need more domestic fluff right now y’all, this in physically paining me you don’t understand. toge is so parent coded i will actually scream cry sob throw myself on the floor. inuokko would be such good guardians no matter what and i love them.

starting this off by saying i am making the extremely questionable choice yet again to start this rant in my notes app so there is a Very Large chance that this episode ramble analysis is going to become another monologue,,,,, sorry bout that. if it’s more than like three paragraphs i’ll stick it under the cut. anyways,,, Y’ALL READY FOR ME TO TAKE AN EPISODE’S WONDERFUL HAPPY ATMOSPHERE AND OVERTHINK IT INTO PAIN???

spoiler alert: i had to come back and add this. it was not less than 3 paragraphs. it’s a significantly longer essay this time. 🫠

i was gonna start with the hierophant card now that i’m rewatching since it’s early in the episode (and i love milfs nang) but i think imma go make that as a separate add on to my previous post about the tarot cards instead. i also still need to go back and watch the bit with boss’s card from that earlier episode so i can add that on as well.

i know the episode technically starts with jack & joker goofing off and once again making ad placement gayer which is very cute but i don’t actually have much to say about that (yet) except that it’s really funny that joke’s reflexes and ability to fight are lowkey garbage unless it’s to mess with jack. also there is that little foreshadowing nugget in there from jack reminding joke again about his promise not to do anything stupid but my take on that will make more sense with my rant about the final scenes. lmfao don’t worry,,,,,, i have plenty to say about them later.

so INSTEAD bc i love to suffer imma start with arun and tattoo’s scene. yippee! so we’ve got these two bonding over creative ventures,,,, and by bonding i mean arun being supportive and pouring his heart out and tattoo being deeply uncomfortable with any display of human emotions lol. i saw that tiny little smile to yourself when your back was turned to arun tho tattoo,,,, im onto u buddy. 🏳️‍🌈❔🫵🤨

and then we’ve got arun’s line about missing his shithead garbage father at the beginning of his breakdown, which at the time, did not mean much to me bc in the moment i got immediately distracted by the comedic factor of tattoo having the emotional range of a thimble. (which i now am like,,, 75% sure was an intentional diversion on the writer’s part.) and also that little crumb of tattoo smushing himself in between hoy and arun by physically pushing them apart when they were half cuddling so that he could impart some Tough Love™️ lmaoooo,,; once again sir,,,, im onto u,,,

anyways the reason that little comment from arun came back to haunt me is related to the tarot cards. i went more in depth about the card meanings in my previous post, but short version for this exact moment: arun gets The Moon as his card which is often considered to be symbolic of deception or things not being what they appear…. and also truths that you have not (or cannot) accept about yourself. haha! neat! i’m sure that’s definitely not the reading they went for and definitely absolutely will not have anything to do with arun not having accepted what kind of person his father truly is, and possibly making some poor choices relating to that in the future! and i’m sure if that is the reading, there is not a more in depth reading for tattoo’s The World card as well since they are in many ways narrative foils of each other! lol! anyways! 🤪

mostly unrelated sidenote: when did nang draw the star on the back of the cards? bc it wasn’t there when she was originally laying the cards out for hoy. continuity issue or Important Tiny Detail?

skipping the rosé jack scene here because imo it didn’t have much purpose other than to kind of make you pissed at her manipulation tactic. (and probably to mislead us into thinking that she was gonna handle the rejection scene really poorly. she didn’t thoooo come thru bb girl! so proud of u) also skipping the teeth rottingly adorable found family meal for similar reasons. (joke adopting ama’s little “aiyah!” tho had me In My Feelings)

surprisingly i don’t actually have that much to say about the flashback to boss and joker’s interaction. i might be missing some subtext, but generally it just kind of gave me the vibe of being there solely to show boss being menacing and remind you that joke’s lovesick self-sacrificing ass is, in fact, about to Do Something Stupid. imminently. (can’t tell if i am also supposed to have like? an ounce of sympathy for boss because he’s “never been free” or whatever the fuck that’s about. don’t know don’t care i wish him a very nice die painfully at the hands of his son. adopted or otherwise, i’m not picky.)

brief shout out to the security goon who is literally a brick wall what the fuck like i know they’re our resident idiots but FOUR ON ONE AND THERE’S BLUNT WEAPONS INVOLVED HELLO????? king shit tbh rip in peace my guy

the absolute unmatched level of shenanigans. whatever was going on with the choice of fish. the botched directions. the inability to open a bottle of champagne.

also WAIT HOLD UPI JUST NOTICED AND IDK IF I’M READING INTO THIS TOO MUCH BUT WHAT’S WITH THE LITTLE LOOK BETWEEN NANG AND ROSÉ WHEN SHE GOES OFF TO CHANGE AND ROSÉ IMMEDIATELY MOVES TO LIGHTEN THE MOOD AND CHANGE THE SUBJECT?? like we know that nang had a hand in this plan but does rosé know something? and if she does, does that have any significance to her bringing jack to the ring room or is that just about the romance? also getting a better look at jack’s face through all of this (during the dinner especially) makes me wonder how much HE knows about the heist bc he clearly has clocked some weird shit happening (and also i feel like there’s no way at this point he has not managed to recognize disguised joke) which like,,,, god it is sending me on a whole other level of spiral bc like on the one hand that makes one of my takes on the final scene less painful but also makes the other part of it even more ouch??? many thoughts,,,, head full,,,, which works out bc we’re closing on the end of the episode which is where my overthinking ass brain went into overdrive the first during the first watch.

first of all i was obviously in my feelings about jack’s whole speech about how lying doesn’t help relationships. shout out to ama’s Great Value Family Therapy Sesh, as always, she is the real mvp.

also ok now i am Thinking bc if jack does know something about the heist that would def have an even deeper meaning to this speech? bc like if they actually communicated beforehand for once then it’s not lying and breaking a promise? and if he doesn’t know anything about it then i feel like he could be more upset about joke doing this exact same thing again? (hELP MY BRAIN HURTS) and joke’s reaction from his cozy little spot deep in the closet isn’t helping at all like,,, maybe it’s the guilt of lying and breaking a promise again?? is it just the crippling lack of self-worth???? and then the surprise specifically when rosé actually took the rejection well? HOW AM I EVEN MORE STRESSED THE SECOND TIME AROUND WHAT THE FUCK 😭

i am also having more thoughts on hoy’s assignment of The Star card, not necessarily about the card’s actual meaning (positivity, optimism, all around good boy golden retriever energy etc) but more how it relates to his whole [handwaves] Thing with nang,,,, and also her plan. hm. idk how to really like. put those thoughts into words tho. i can’t put my finger on what it is that is making me flag that, but it is there.

also like idk if i’m misremembering but were we ever told specifically what nang’s relationship to rosé is? like she’s not her mom for sure so??? older sister??? or????

god i have so many questions after this episode especially because i feel like there were a lot of little foreshadowing hints that were immediately followed by HEY LOOK OVER THERE! shiny distraction moments and u kno what,,, fair,,,, i was and wld continue to be distracted by naked nang if i wasn’t picking this apart scene by scene rn like her calling hoy to pick things up from her when joke clearly didn’t know that Most of this was part of her plan??? i need to know RIGHT NOW WHO IS IN ON WHICH PARTS AAGHHHH

JACK’S FACE AT THE FIREWORKS THO JACK WHAT AND HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOWWWWWWWWWW like now there’s this whole phone conversation that will ALSO TAKE ON A WHOLE OTHER MEANING IF HE’S IN ON ANY PART OF THIS??? originally i was just like “damn this will really suck if he thinks he did this and got out of this situation all by himself and then gets mad at joker all over again and they fight and (temporarily obvs) break up” but now im like OH MY GOD????? and now we have reached The Scene™️ ,,, the culmination of everything,,, the yearning the pining the tension the misunderstandings,,,,, it’s just so [clenches fist] why are they so good

and i am once again spiraling bc if there were two different plots going on in this heist, this whole “did you work hard” conversation has even more double meanings aaaagghhh AM I READING TOO MUCH INTO THIS?????? if i am this 5000 word essay is about to be real embarrassing. anyways.

like originally i was just lasered in on the double meanings behind every fucking moment (and word and expression and body language augh) from joke’s side of the conversation and the pain it was bringing me even tho on the surface this is a super happy moment and they’re finally getting together etc,,, bc like from joke’s perspective this could very well be the end of them? he knows he’s done exactly what he did last time to snap their budding relationship in half, but this time there’s a million more promises in between for him to have broken.

like listen i know the yearning and the infamous microexpressions could just be because he’s been being crushed by the weight of his feelings for over five years, but idk man,,,, i was getting major bottling up The Sad™️ vibes from joke in this scene, even in it’s most tender moments (that soft little “together?” which was absolutely just in relation to candles and nothing else will haunt my dreams) and i don’t think it was Just his guilty conscience about lying even tho that is also obviously eating him alive right now. (him knocking back that drink when jack’s telling him about rosé and he’s gotta keep up the act and pretend he doesn’t already know what was said? all of it? and like it didn’t have him connecting the dots finally about the feelings being mutual? big fucking oof.) which brings us back to joke’s ever present ✨crippling lack of self-worth✨,,,,, i think he genuinely thinks this is the last time he’s going to have jack. because now on top of the guilt of What He’s Done, he thinks he’s upped the betrayal factor now that he has confirmation that jack likes him back. like based on jack’s reaction to the situation when they were barely just becoming friends, it’s understandable to assume that this broken promise would cut deeper.

and y’know in case that didn’t already deal me enough psychic damage, i think at the beginning of this conversation he just thinks it’s the last time he’s going to have jack from an emotional standpoint. and then jack is being brave and playful and straightforward (just like that first confession, which he also DIDN’T BELIEVE WAS POSSIBLE IN THE MOMENT goddddd im so emo) and he’s just like welp might as well have this last moment where he loves me for real to keep close to my chest for the rest of forever. and he’s ecstatic to have it like this boy is straight up glowing. the slow smiles, like he can’t believe he gets to have this. (which like. again. i think that he thinks he doesn’t which obviously i am feeling Very Normal about hahahaha)

then to round this all out we have That Kiss,,,,, like. whew. the absolute explosion of pent up feelings is seriously unmatched by any other bl (and possibly just like,,,, every drama) i have ever watched. but of course even with that i’m not done overthinking things because these mfs make me truly unhinged. like there is that fucking feral face joke makes when they pause for their forehead touch and instead of enjoying this beautiful and satisfying moment for more than five seconds, my brain would not let me live and was like “oh,,,, is this the moment where it hits him like a sack of bricks that this is maybe also the last time he gets to have jack from a physical as well as the originally presumed emotional standpoint? and maybe he should just choose to be selfish and let himself have this for once, if it’s going to be the last time?” bc hnnnn idk something about him in that tender moment just projected underlying grief to me and perhaps i am overthinking that! perhaps it’s just grief for time lost with a little dash of guilty conscience!

anyways then there’s,,,, the possibility of jack’s perspective on this also gaining a lot more nuance which i only even thought of as a concept in the middle of writing this insane manifesto for licherally over 3hrs so frankly! i am not even remotely emotionally or mentally equipped to handle The Implications of that! that is officially too many layers and changes my entire viewpoint of the microexpressions on jack’s face also and i simply cannot deal with it! i am already eating glass about them!! i am Looking Away!!!!

in conclusion, i am so so so so so so normal about them thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Excuse me, could you please make headcanons about the reader inviting Malleus, Lilia, Silver and Sebek over to their house in their world to watch Raya and the Last Dragon with them? If you haven't seen it, feel free to watch it before you can get started on the headcanons. Bonus points if they took the movie as inspiration for their next costume for next Halloween since it's inspired by Southeast Asia as Diasomnia's previous Halloween costume is inspired by Mulan (China/East Asia).

I had to watch it before I could write this, and now I’m wondering if it’s even possible for Disney to have a character with two parents that actually love each other, or are alive at the very least.

Malleus Draconia

He finds the film quite confusing, but funny at the same time. Usually, his land was filled with fae of all sorts, so being a dragon fae didn’t really mean anything besides the fact that he was larger and stronger than the others. He wasn’t that valuable because of his dragon form. He was valuable because he was the sole heir of the Royal Family.

He sees the close connection between humanity and dragon kind, and he wishes that the Briar Valley could be unified in the same fashion. Unfortunately, it isn’t as easy as Raya makes it seem. Diplomatic affairs were exceedingly complicated. (I mean, if y’all got married… then that would make it so much easier)

He notes the fact that he had drawn inspiration from the movie. He thinks you should dress as Raya when that happens because you care for the future and union of all the dormitories of NRC, and that sounds exactly like the hero of the film. He will definitely see if he can recreate the Sisudatu. 

Lilia Vanrouge

He is dying of laughter at how much Sisu reminds him of how naive Malleus was when he was just a hatchling. Other than that, he finds it quite adorable. It was intriguing to see other takes on what dragons were capable of and looked like.

He also sees the close connection between humanity and fae (dragon) kind. His family (you and Silver) were proof that the two could be united. NRC was proof of that, actually. It might be worth convincing Queen Maleficia into considering that as a possibility.

He was intrigued by the different fashion styles, and realized that there were indeed 5 of you, just enough to portray each of the 5 regions. He will most definitely pitch it as an idea for next Halloween. He knows that they would most likely accept it, he just needed to come up with an idea on how to make a dragon because the dragon from the movie is much different than the type of dragon that Malleus is.

Silver

He tried his hardest to stay awake, and he beat his record by a few seconds… He made it 5 minutes into the movie before he passed out. He felt so bad afterward, but you understood that being one of Malleus’ knights could be absolutely draining. You did get a bunch of pictures that you definitely sent to Lilia.

Since he fell asleep, he wasn’t able to see most of the film. He was able to see that Raya loved dragons, which kind of reminded him of himself when he was younger. When he was a small child, his only dream was to become a knight of Lord Malleus.

He does like the different styles of clothing per the different nations. He might want to base his dorm’s Halloween decorations and costumes off of the film. You can’t tell me that he wouldn’t look absolutely gorgeous in the Heart Tribe clothing. 

Sebek Zigvolt

This could go one of two ways: he sits upright like a plank as he watches the movie, or he yells about how Waka-sama is much better than Sisu. You don’t get any in between moments. I’m sorry, Sebek simps. Actually, if you fall asleep on him, that is the only way to get him to relax.

Younger Raya reminded him of his present self. He is a huge supporter in whatever Malleus does, so he kind of relates to the heroine when she goes all fangirl about Sisu. However, I would say that he didn’t really enjoy the film. He’s just a guy that prefers books (if the legend was in the library, he’d be a bit more excited).

He does think that the styles of clothing that differ from tribe to tribe are at least a tad appealing to him. More specifically, the Spine Tribe clothing. He’s a buffer man, so he would probably wear the outfit with pride. It makes him feel like one of those rough-and-tough warriors from the film. He definitely presents it as an idea for Diasomnia Halloween.

Life Day with Fox is honestly my personal ideal. Fox just wants one day (1) where he isn’t expected to do a thousand things a minute, he isn’t expected to answer a thousand questions from a thousand soldiers and senators or delegate any tasks. Also, you two don’t even have to leave your own home! Fox just wants to be somewhere that isn’t the Guard HQ that he can just exist and relax for the holiday, and he does just that. Like the rest of the GAR he doesn’t have much credits, so instead of buying you something he gives you something small that he made. Not sure what it would be, but it’s made with love and adoration. He will absolutely NOT be discussing how he went through five test runs with your gift, and he’s got them stuffed away in his contraband closet in his office. He also won’t mention how it took him literal months to complete, in part because of his schedule and because he wanted it to be fucking perfect. And it is. He made it while thinking of no one but you, and it illustrates the depth of his love for you. (Which is deeper than ANY of the deep sea trenches on Kamino.)

Next Up, my Personal Bestest Boy Hardcase:

Okay now I love Hardcase, but his Life Day would be. So. Fucking. BUSY. Hey Hardcase, you DO know that it’s LITERALLY physically impossible to give presents to ALL of your siblings in ONE day right? Oh you’re gonna make it happen?! Okay, Chris Fuckin Cringle, jesus fuck. He would though, you know he would, he would make it work. Hardcase is the exact opposite of the biggest Bah Humbug motherfucker you’ve ever met. Not only that, Hardcase is doing SO. MUCH. COOKING. But don’t worry - he’s making you all of your favorite dishes, and has been buying you little gifts ever since he found out Life Day was a THING that made him think of you and how much he loves you. While Hardcase knows that material things aren’t the reason for the season, he still wants to spoil you. He’s also just a bundle of wonder and awe, but he is also very generous - if he sees a family in need during the season he’s dropping everything he can to see how he can help make their season better. In a post-war world where Hardcase lives and everything is FINE, nothing bad happened, he’s definitely volunteering part of Life Day at a soup kitchen or shelter of some sort. All in all - Hardcase brings the joy of the season, whether anyone is ready for it or not. (Trust me - you aren’t.)

Speaking of Bah Humbugs…Commander Wolffe:

Oh, Wolffie. Oooh, Wolffie. You’re a mean one ain’t’cha? So yeah, Wolffe might be the biggest party-pooper out of the bunch. He just doesn’t get it - and he doesn’t mean to spoil it for everyone. He’s just not sure why all of this matters at first. So he’s the sulky uncle who sits alone, nursing some really strong drink throughout most of the day…at least he’s that way at first. But show him some younglings decorating a tree and enthusing about the holiday season and you unlock something in him. I stand by the HC that Wolffe actually has a soft spot for kiddos - it brings out the best parts of him that aren’t a soldier. So yeah, one minute Wolffe is sitting in the corner, barely making conversation with anyone - because let’s be honest, Wolffe is absolutely ass at small-talk and most conversations - and the next, he’s hoisting a youngling up to put the topper on some gaudily decorated tree. Meanwhile two other younglings are decorating him because he’s as tall as some of the trees they’ve seen. Also, Wolffe would absolutely wipe the floor with his fashion sense for the season - Wolffe being a fashionista is always something I can get behind. He’d also be down for an ugly sweater contest, purely because if you can’t give the judges the perfect scowl in that gaudy, awful thing, are you really even competing? (Also yes, him and Fox have a vicious competition with each other. It almost always ends with them having an argument where one of them inevitably puts the other in a headlock.)

Oh we can’t forget about Captain Rex:

Alright so, here’s a character I haven’t really gotten into. But I feel like if you’re looking for that cliche Hallmark Christmas movie experience, or something similar without the misogyny, you’d want to spend Life Day with Rex. Rex obviously gets invited by General Skywalker’s very dear friend, Senator Amidala, to spend Life Day on Naboo. In fact, the entire 501st do, but it’s the one time he doesn’t have to look after them. Instead, he’s spending his days experiencing - well, life. Naboo doesn’t have a typical winter season, but the vibes are still there, so he’s definitely drinking hot chocolate with whipped cream, marshmallows, candy cane sticking out - literally every morning. (Don’t judge him, he’s earned it.) And if you just so happen to be Rex’s partner, well, he’s also wanting to drink that hot chocolate with you every morning, and get out there and experience everything the season has to offer. And he can’t buy much, but the gift he gets you (besides his time, which is precious) is priceless. There is such obvious love and time and effort put into getting you something that is perfect for you. Also, you two get to have dinner on your own - just the two of you. (Tooth rotting stuff, truly.)

So obviously, any time you and Fox get to spend with each other where Fox doesn’t have to worry about his men, you are fucking. Nonstop. But around Life Day, when he’s given the all clear for some VERY much deserved R&R, he indulges once…and then nothing. Besides heavy make-out sessions, he stops you just before it gets too heavy - tells you he just wants to savor his time with you without sex. Alright, that’s fine at first, but then you’re starting to get antsy. Why isn’t he in your pants like he normally is?! You finally wheedle it out of him - he’s got a surprise for you on Life Day proper. It’s not much, but it really is the thought that counts. And boy howdy, did he think this through. So you wake up to breakfast in bed - you also wake up to him, under the sheets, with his head between your legs. Who knows how long he’s been under there, because you wake up coming on his tongue. After that he feeds you by hand - a breakfast he made from scratch. And it’s not just good, it’s incredible. You do most of the cooking when you two get together, and some of Fox’s attempts at cooking weren’t great - but this? This is gourmet. Where did these skills come from?! Fox reveals that he’s been taking cooking lessons for today, which is impressive considering his schedule. After making sweet, slow love to you, he clears up breakfast (naked) and the rest of the day continues like that. Eventually you two do have to get out of bed for a bath (which you take together of course), and move to the living room for dinner (which he also made, it is lavish and delicious and perfect). Fox really just wants to show you how much he cares for you, and do what he can for you while he has this time with you. It’s precious to him - just about as precious as you are to him.

Ho-Ho-Hardcase:

Alright so yeah - Hardcase would do some really, REALLY cheesy shit on Life Day once everything calms down and he’s got you to himself. And not just the whole rose petals, candles (where’d he find those?? Do those exist in Star Wars???) and red satin sheets. Oh no. He’s got the Star Wars equivalent of a Santa costume on. (IDK what that is in SW, and I’m writing this at 1:30am - research is beyond me rn.) It’s ridiculous, but it’s what you’ve come to expect from him - and somehow he makes it so hot?! Well it’s probably because the get-up is little more than suspenders and trousers that leave nothing to the imagination, and he’s got this whole script going…. Which is way hotter than it should be. Hardcase would absolutely be in his element doing this: seducing you while telling you how naughty you’ve been, how he should just be punishing you. But you look so sweet, so it’d be a shame to let that spoil. Needless to say, you spend a lot of time on his lap. He also somehow managed to get you a whole new miniature collection of sex toys - with a few for him, of course. You two spend the night and into the wee hours of the morning just having the raunchiest, most thoroughly exhausting sex of your life. But the best time is the night of Life Day - he’s been teasing you at the 104th holiday party, giving you those looks, lingering touches that sets your skin on fire, whispering so close to your ear that his lips brush your skin and send shivers down your spine. When Wolffe finally announces both of you are leaving, the whole battalion knows what’s going to happen when you two get to your place. Wolffe has a trick up his sleeve though - normally, he’s the one calling the shots. But tonight he’s leaving it in your capable hands - he’ll do whatever you ask. And you do just that -thoroughly rescrambling his brain with that amazing sloppy toppy, edging him after you tie his hands to the headboard, and finally letting him blast the fattest nut in you - and then the two of you fall asleep like that, after you untie his hands. Throughout the night Wolffe and you wake up when he gets hard again, reaffirming just how close and devoted the two of you are to each other.

And Finally, Rex:

Oh, Rex. Remember what I said about that cliche Hallmark Christmas movie shmutz? Yeah, it gets better. (Worse?) Rex is much like Fox in that the day starts off with him pleasuring you. The two of you barely awake while he’s doing it, but when he’s awake enough he stills your hands and takes over. Slowly, slowly bringing you to climax, and being very thorough while he does it. When he’s finally finished (it takes him a good three orgasms until he’s satisfied), he enters you slowly. (And then you two go back home and BANG some more. There, ended smutty.)

oooh okay so recently i came back from europe, and i literally loved it so much! i oddly enough LOVED vatican city! and i absolutely adored venice and paris! however, london was also really nice! (i cannot decide i’m so sorry😭)

about being Australian? I would suppose our love for sport. We play so many sports over here and we support the aussies even if we don’t like the sport! For example the Matilda’s, our women’s soccer team! Soccer isn’t as big as AFL over here, but i’ve never seen so much support behind Womens soccer, let alone ANY soccer, as we’re very proud of our sporting teams!

"Ah, books" Logan smiles, "who doesn't like a good riveting story?"

"Fantastical and whimsical! I love getting lost in a world not our own" Roman muses.

"And they taste great!" Remus says.

"Don't... don't ruin this for us" Roman mutters impassively.

Remus pokes Romans cheek, "Silly. Little. Guy." He reiterates from the last ask.

Roman smacks his brothers finger away from his face, despite the action Roman has a mirthful smile.

"Shush, we're talking artistry! And I have to admit, I never actually have had a favorite book before, I know I know! But reserve your judgements! I can just never choose!" the back of his hand flies to his forehead.

"But!" He brightens up, "that all changed *last month! When I randomly bought a book offline, I absolutely adore it! I didn't put it down all night!"

The others are patiently waiting for him to actually say the name of this book, but as he is Roman - it might take a few more sentences.

"Such Exquisite Calamity" (or not) he says the words like he's savouring them, "that is the name of this book -such an elegant title- I'm not going to give anything away either, you guys read it for yourselves."

"You may want to tell them the author if you want them to read it" Logan points out.

"Oh! right yes, that... that would probably be helpful" he nods, "that would be Sydnie Beaupré, I do hope more is in the works."

"I'm sure there will be more, don't worry" Logan pats Roman's chest comfortingly, "I do have to agree with you on it being hard to choose a favorite though, considering there are so many wonderful books out there. But I stand firm with Agatha Christie's: The Murder of Roger Akroyed."

"Oh that's a good one" Annie compliments.

"IIIIIIII have a favorite book" Remus says.

Everyone looks to him.

He does not elaborate.

"And that would be...?" Logan prompts.

"Nah, I like most splatterpunk and horror stuff, true crime is a fun read too."

"Yeah and what about you big daddy?" Remus asks.

"Don't call him that" Roman and Logan say at the same time.

"Ignoring that" Patton says carrying on, "my favorite would have to be Good Omens, I also really love The Notebook."

"He cries every time he reads The Notebook" Roman tells everyone, "it's kind of amazing how much it's a tear jerker for him - adorable too."

"It's just so sad" Patton says quietly, "so sad."

Roman softly paps Patton's cheek, "I know sweet cakes."

"It is just so hard to choose a favorite book as was said before" Dee pipes in, "I myself like to pick up a wide variety of the classics, you can't beat the classics."

"Yeah if 'the classics' mean putting a slipcover of Shakespeare over a trashy harlequin novel then sure" Remus mutters.

Dee splutters "I don't, you- Remus please, I can't believe you'd insinuate" -he sighs- "yeah fine, I like the most trashy of harlequin novels, sooooo sue me" he crosses his arms in a huff.

"Tell them why" Virgil nudges him.

"I... okay, I got into them when I was quite young -my mother was the one who actually liked them to begin with- I just picked one of hers up one day and didn't stop."

"But, that's not all you read" Virgil points out.

"That is true, my favorite author is V.C Andrews."

"You don't have to lie about what you like" Virgil tells him.

"You're right, and it's your turn to tell them yours."

Virgil's soft smile turns rigid for a second now that the spotlight is on him but he calms down quickly.

"I mean, that's no problem, my favorite series is Skulduggery Pleasant, it's amazing and cool and a little messed up at times but ultimately it's fun."

"Ooooh yeah I like those too" Remus agrees.

"What about you Annie?" Logan asks the attention turning to her.

oh okay!! well — i don’t know that i have the right words to describe how much i adore spencer but i’ll give it a shot :)

i think that:

spencer is an absolutely incredible human being — they’re strong, they’re kind, they’re smart, they’re hilarious, they’re so talented and so interesting and so much fun to talk to about anything and everything ❤️

i love talking to them about fandom-related topics. i think they’re a genius (and i’ve always thought this, long before we even became friends) and every single take that they have on any piece of media has always been 10000% correct — plus, they’re the only person who’s completely on my wavelength about everything: i could (and often do, lol) talk to them for hours just going back and forth about a particular character or storyline, and when it comes to character discussion, we always bounce ideas off of each other rapid-fire style without missing a beat because we get each other so well <3 and like. i would still love talking to them about media even if we didn’t agree on a particular topic bc they always have excellent takes regardless….but sometimes it’s just nice to have a fandom friend that Gets It. and they’re the kind of person that makes me feel comfortable enough to share things that i would never post publicly because i know i’m always safe with them and they’ll always understand what i really mean when i say something that could easily be misconstrued by the general public on tumblr dot com.

speaking of always understanding!!! it’s kind of scary how alike our minds are. spencer and i are as different as two people can be when it comes to background/upbringing, and yet somehow we have the same exact brain — half of our conversations are just us saying the same thing at the same time, or one of us saying something and the other person immediately replying with ‘i was gonna say that.’ psychic connection real <3

ngl if i saw them irl without knowing them i would probably be intimidated by them, but in reality they’re they’re actually the sweetest fucking person i’ve ever met. sometimes when they say something particularly nice to me, i have to take a moment to just sit there and be like. holy fuck. this person is my best friend?? it’s overwhelming, sometimes, in the best way. i feel like i have a hard time being vulnerable with most people, but spencer makes it so easy to be as unbearably sappy as i want because i know they feel the same way.

Yes!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by your question because the 1950s was definitely still during the Hays code (the censorship code which Hollywood abided which is why old fashioned movies seem so sex and violence free).

Also the Hays code in general was really detrimental to women filmmakers in particular. It's no surprise to me that there were only two women who made movies in Hollywood during this super regressive era: Ida Lupino and Dorothy Arzner.

But there were still many women making movies during this time and Hollywood was far from the only film industry: Alice Guy-Blaché, Lois Weber, Zora Neale Hurston, Jacqueline Audry, Agnès Varda, Lotte Reiniger, and Ruth Orkin are some of the wonder filmmakers from the 1950s and earlier.

Anyway with that aside tracking down older movies is still really hard and takes a bit of investigative research. I always suggest going to your local library because they usually have a surprisingly vast collection of movies.

If you live in Canada/U.S. and have a TV TCM is a wonderful film channel the plays old movies and is where I've been able to watch films by Lupino and Arzner. From time to time they program films JUST by women and it's a great chance to catch up on some older classics.

Kino Lorber is a great film distribution company that not only does modern films but also has a great selection of restored older films. They have a "Women Pioneers" box set that is pricey and only available in Canada/The U.S. (again check your library).

Also: Youtube!

There are some really amazing obscure films uploaded on youtube either because they belong to the public domain, some film fan has uploaded them illegally, or because the country they are from invests in their cultural arts and wants to promote them to the world (I know that a lot of Canadian, Russian and South Korean films are on Youtube legally and for free. They're not organized by women directors but if you dig around you can find great stuff.

I wish I had simpler answers for you but alas!

y’all, lemme tell you something about my rarepair, my absolute number one OTP, the ship i will go down with, my i-would-die-for-them even now, 24 days into the year of our lord 2023.

it’s not even about the show, and it hasn’t been for like 20 years now. it’s about the all-encompassing chokehold that two of the characters from this show have had on me since i was about 13 years old. that’s when it started and it hasn’t let me go. better than that, the pairing itself is a complete fabrication, totally built up inside my head and fleshed out by years and years of over-analyzation and inventing things that, objectively, are not there. the maintext of it all is pretty clear but i have a special knack for pulling anything and everything i want out of the subtext. i see what i want to see and i live happily in my little state of delusion.

here’s the kicker: when i say the maintext is clear, i mean it. these characters were not, in any way or by any stretch of the imagination, written with the intention to give off romantic vibes. truly, they weren’t. this show, in all its cheesy (and arguably cringey) glory, was one of the highest rated family-friendly, positivity-focused shows of the 90s. it was the height of the “clean, uplifting, and inspirational” era of network television, with very strong christian undertones.

the show? touched by an angel. the characters?

these two.

yes, these two. characters with one very clear purpose, which is to be on earth to help human beings and spread the message of gods love to the world.

pairing them???? absolutely asinine of me, and yet … here i am, still burning in this fire years and years later. i would die for them. specifically, i would die for my version of them. and i probably will not ever be able to fully explain my adoration or remember what it was that triggered this shift in my young brain or what made me say, “yes, this is what we’re doing now. this is where we live.”

i don’t use the word chokehold lightly. i can spend hours watching bits and pieces of scenes, re-analyzing dialogue, and spilling my thoughts and theories to the one friend i have that also shares this mildly humiliating addiction. thank god for her and thank god for the far corners of the internet. i have written (and read) some very -ahem- unholy fic. and i’ll keep doing it kids. this is a forever kind of thing.
