It's here!! The official lore-filled post for the Violinist AU that my wonderful anons, @shalomniscient's godly input and I have concocted over the past three months. This masterlist will serve as guidelines for the AU so that newcomers and current enjoyers (me included lol) can easily refer to it and see if any burning questions have already been answered or not. Speaking of, every anon questions and rambles can currently be found under the #violinist au tag. Things will inevitably be added as time goes by, so I'll do my best to update this post when they do. Let's get into it! ♫

SOME BASICS!

SUMMARY ♫

╰┈➤ Kafka and Reader are classical musicians and childhood best friends who have been playing together since their respective instructors discovered their potential and made them work together on a piece at just 8 years old. At the time, they are both young prodigies in the making who share a dream of becoming the best in their field. They navigate the carefreeness of childhood, heavy expectations, close friendships and tumultuous high school years hand in hand. As they grow, so does their music. The two are intrinsically tangled up; where there is one, you can surely find the other. One day, when they're around 16 years old, R moves away. Their last bus ride together is a memory Kafka holds close to her heart and she remembers it viscerally whenever comes the time to bring an especially complex composition to life. This musical prowess eventually becomes the source of her recognition and success.

After R moves away, Kafka loses herself in her ambitions and Elio's strict teaching. He continues to groom her into the perfect musician and has little regard for her self-destructive behavior if the results surpass his expectations. She isolates herself from her friends, practices until her fingers ache, and spends a long time exteriorizing her feelings of abandonment through her music. She’s snarky, irritable and mean. She grows up to play the violin professionally and is recognized as a prodigy in that world. She goes through pianist accompaniment after pianist accompaniment, always looking for the “missing key” to her art that’s disappeared alongside R, but it remains unattainable.

R grows up insecure due to Elio’s hurtful favouritism towards Kafka; they never feel skilled enough to keep up with her, strong enough to shoulder their instructor’s expectations for them and thus worthy of Kafka’s attention and respect. When they move, they stop playing the piano for a while. Even they pick it back up eventually, it’s never in a professional context. While KFR have different relationships with music, since they’ve learned it as a duo, they understand each other’s art like no one else. R now makes records of songs covers that they’ve only recently started selling due to their popularity among the locals. It’s a hobby, not a career.

╰┈➤ KAFKA

We all know her, we all adore her, forever a superstar... Kafka's as close to HSR's canon as I could make her. Since this is an AU, there are obviously backstory/character traits that I've added to further flesh her out but the base of her character remains the same. Classical music is her life and she's played professionally as soon as she could; praised and admired almost all of her life (by her instructor and her fellows), she's a goddess with the violin. She's playful, confident with the skills to back it up, and guards her true feelings behind easy smiles only the ones closest to her can pick apart.

Some Kafka facts:

She's most definitely a media sweetheart. Her practiced elegance and distinct fashion style make her look very Cool, and it's an image she's carefully built brick by brick!

She lives in a condo with minimalist design, so it looks pretty empty despite her collections of records, musical instruments and mini libraries filled with books, music sheets and the likes. You can find an intricate, pretty vase in almost every room.

Outside of music, she doesn't do commitment. She sucks at it, hates feeling "hindered" and is often preoccupied by someone something else anyway. Hookups and FWB are more her style. She’s had like one serious relationship up until the present time.

As a teen, she was pretty rebellious. Though rigorous when it comes to the violin, she was never above skipping a day or two of class to have some fun and almost always dragged R along whether they thought it was a good idea or not. As an adult, she still enjoys the thrill but is much more calculated due to being under the spotlight most days.

She’s always heard humming! Though singing’s not her thing, she’s constantly humming her favourite orchestras, pieces she’s currently learning or just songs that she likes.

Heavy smoker, especially when she’s feeling some type of way.

She has no living relatives.

She harbours some repressed anger that she’s never fully healed from until the present time. That explains a lot of her defense mechanisms and current guarded behaviour.

She wears her sunglasses when she wants to hide.

Her closest relationships are: Blade, Acheron and Black Swan.

She meets Blade sometime after college and offers him a job as her personal driver. He understands her needs implicitly and she deciphers his moods just as easily. He’s the one who takes care of her when she drinks too much or needs to clear her head with a long drive. Sometimes, shared silence is enough. Kafka and Acheswan have been friends since high school and have stayed friends throughout adulthood. The three of them grew closer right after R moved away.

╰┈➤ Reader

Because this is still an x reader AU, they don’t have a specific appearance. All of their specificities lie in their character. R is an excellent pianist despite their traitorous mind convincing them otherwise, they genuinely have a passion for the piano and classical music as a whole so they’re very knowledgeable when it comes to it. They currently work at a record store alongside Serval and make music for themselves that others happen to enjoy. They’re an overthinker and tend to diminish the place they take up in people’s lives but they’re also very sweet, reserved and thoughtful.

Some R facts:

They’re a terrible liar. It’ll show on their face whenever they’re bothered by something, or they’ll have little tells like fidgeting or avoiding eye contact.

Funnily enough, they were the most direct one out of the two as teens. R had no issue calling Kafka beautiful on concert night or holding her hand unprompted as they walked to the bus stop. While she hid behind shitty humour and sarcasm, they were more open in their affection. It’s a little more complicated in the present time, as they have to relearn each other with their respective baggage.

Elio's berating is the reason why R starts hiding things from Kafka and their other friends. As a teen they keep more secrets from her than she thinks, it's something she'll come to realize in the present time.

R moves away for a couple of reasons; their parents consider moving due to having to take care of chronically ill relatives but that decision isn't cemented until R tells them that they're okay with it. By the time they make this decision they've let their dwindling passion for the piano, years of Elio's expectations and their own insecurities take up so much space in their mind that they simply don't believe they're needed anymore. They couldn't do it anymore, look at Kafka and be reminded of how insignificant they were. They don't inform her simply out of cowardice. At 16 they were going through so much that they just believed leaving was for the best.

They have a little sister! She's 14 years younger than they are, so she was 2 when their family moved away. In the present time she's 14!

R sings! Not professionally or anything, but their singing voice is (one of) someone's favourite sounds.

They live in the one bedroom apartment right above the record store. It's cozy and seems packed at first glance, complete opposite from Kafka's home. There are music sheets and drawings from when their sister was younger on the fridge, pictures framed on the walls, old posters of bands they still love in their bedroom, etc.

Their closest relations are: Serval, Acheron and Swan

Serval and R met at the record store, where she already worked at before they were employed there. R is often invited to her band's performances, and they grew close from working together so often (outside of the owner, they're the only two employees in the store.) They're here for each other as they both go through these ridiculous homoromantic situationships... Acheswan are high school friends and once KFR reconnects, so do R and our fav purple ladies. They're closest to Acheron.

TIMELINE ♫

╰┈➤ KFR are the same age and meet at 8 years old. They grow together under the same instructor, Elio. They go to the same school and don't live that far off from each other, only one bus ride away.

At 14 years old, in high school, KFR befriend Acheron and Black Swan who have just started dating. They're high school sweethearts!

At 16 years old, the Bus Breakup happens and R moves away. Kafka's left to finish the rest of the school year with Acheswan and throws herself into her music/goals to cope with R's sudden absence.

Kafka starts to get recognition in the classical music world in college, but more so in the years that follow. At 23, she's already pretty known as a violinist prodigy. Also the year she meets Bladie!

Around a decade after they last saw each other, at 28 years old, KFR meets again in the vintage record store R works at. When I say "present time" I'm referring to their first meeting and on.

KFR officially get together about a year later, at 29 years old.

╰┈➤ These aren't in chronological order because that would take me an insane amount of time to figure out. As always, if anyone wants me to elaborate on any of these they can always send me an ask :)

R has natural perfect pitch while Kafka's worked hard to hone hers. In the present time, she’s much better than they are due to playing consistently and professionally.

Kafka picked up smoking in college to alleviate her stress. Very bad habit that she can’t seem to stop.

Kafka has tattoos! I don’t care, she at least has a spine tattoo. Her and R probably get matching ones at some point, much smaller though. I’m thinking particular music notes.

R eventually comes to own the record store they work at.

Kafka’s very close with R’s family. They hang out without R often. Their sister loves her and they've had a few spa days.

R’s dog tag is from a grandparent that passed away. It’s sort of a way for them to remember to keep their loved ones close. I can see Kaf gifting them one with a date engraved on the back.

Kafka’s tried her hand at composition but the one she’s been working on and off on for years is still unfinished.

Once KFR gets together, they're always touching in some way. One of them toying with the other's fingers is a common occurrence.

R still has the drawing their 8 year old self made with Kafka somewhere in their teenage bedroom. They've also held on some specific annotated music sheets/partitions that they've worked on with Kafka when they were in the school orchestra.

Kafka and Serval have a funny relationship; Serval loves to get on Kafka's nerves because she's a rich snob and Kafka's always a fan of getting even. The passive aggressiveness between them is off the charts, but they can also be found giggling together when drunk. They'll deny it wholeheartedly.

R and Himeko are friends! They go to the same coffee place almost every day and see each other often but work in very different fields.

Serval and Cocolia have something weird going on. They've been friends who kiss sometimes since college and now they have different career paths that add some distance between them but they still want each other but Cocolia tends to prioritize her work and Serval feels she doesn't care as much anymore and--- it's complicated. Bronya doesn't exist at this point in the AU, but she likely will in the future.

R's followed some of Kafka's success on social media for a few years before they met again. Kafka has a little fanbase!

R sells their personal collection of the records they make at the store. When Kafka gets wind of it, she makes sure to have a copy of each (mostly by having Blade buy them from people’s hands…) and keeps the records at home. That’s before they get together.

R plays the piano for Kafka for the time the morning after they sleep together hehehe.

R confesses to Kafka about Elio's mistreatment after Swan convinces them to. I would say it’s the biggest chance Kafka has to make them understand that she wants them at her side.

Swan was the pretty but kinda weird girl in high school who was very into palm reading and tarot cards. Acheron was probably on the track team or something. Super sweet but reserved.

Kafka and Acheswan see each other pretty often. They have brunch.

Acheron studied philosophy in college.

Acheron mostly taught Kafka how to do her makeup as teens.

Swan has always been able to see through Kafka's bullshit and defense mechanisms.

When they were in high school, R’s house was the designated hang out spot for the 4 of them. At school they had classroom 311B which was often vacant so they hung out there most of the time.

KFR's confession happens in R's teenage bedroom after a family dinner. Sev and I already have the whole thing planned out...

Their bus number, 607, means “I miss you” in pager code! I thought I was being clever when I chose it lol. It’s kind of the official title me thinks.

It was supposed to start off representing childhood carefreeness and nostalgia then progresses into their angsty teenage years, their separate lives, all to come back to the time they meet again well into adulthood. However, the board is structured from most recent to older years, so the oldest memories are at the bottom.

Thank you to all my anons and Sev for brainrotting with me, this AU is getting kind of big now and I’m really happy about it. I’ll add more info to this post periodically, I think about it often and I’ve likely forgotten some stuff that has been mentioned to me before so it’s a work in progress!!! okay this is old art (late 2023) but i thought i might as well post it instead of leaving it to rot forever lolol

it's for an e/r persona 5 au that i never did anything with... these two pieces are the only art i did for it but here's some extra info: - enjolras takes the role of joker here, he's living above a cafe in paris run by valjean and works part-time there - les amis takes the place of the phantom thieves here, though not every member is actually part of the group (i.e. has a persona) - grantaire enters the picture when les amis becomes more well-known; he's extremely skeptical of them and doesn't think what they do will actually have an effect on society in the long run, and constantly debates enj about this (not knowing that he's the leader of les amis). later on he ends up in mementos somehow and enj is the only person around to protect him from the dangers there; this results in him getting almost killed by a powerful shadow and r ends up saving him by awakening his persona and helping him out. idk i know that's a little cheesy but it's the best 15-16 y/o me had (also it's meant to parallel That scene. except they live)

okay hi here's more general au stuff - other characters that mirror p5 characters in this au: cosette (futaba), eponine (yusuke), marius (yuuki; this kinda doesn't make sense but who am i to question 2023 me) - javert has the first palace here, but instead of becoming incapacitated like other targets he ends up being some kind of man on the inside for les amis. idrk where i was going with this i think i just wanted an excuse for some old man yaoi:tm: - second palace goes to the thenardiers and cosette would probably have an equivalent to futaba's palace, beyond that i didn't really think of much i don't have an idea of what most characters' personas would look like (if i imagined them to be a persona-user) or their arcanas but i do have some ideas about what type of elemental skills a few personas would use: enjolras - fire combeferre - ice courfeyrac - electric eponine - prioritizes physical skills jehan - light bahorel - nuclear joly - prioritizes support/recovery skills grantaire - wind or psychokinesis i think cosette would take the role of navigator here, i don't think it fits her too well in the context of les mis but it's perfect in the context of p5 if you want to do anything with this/based on this i give you my blessing 🙏 idk if anyone would actually Want to lol but this au's been abandoned for almost a year and a half by now so i might as well show it off and see what happens

Unpopular opinion:

Even if Melanie is innocent, Piggyback gotta be her worst song yet. She's just playing defense basically being like "if I did it, where's the evidence? that don't count" and the lyrics are SO BAD it puts every British rapper out there and Chance the Rapper to SHAME. And the production wasn't good either. The only thing I liked from this song was the cover art. She didn't even address anything in the damn song, all she really was like "oh yeah Madeleine and Timothy and all these other people are just lying for fame" 💀💀💀

it is actually fucking crazy to me how 3 to up to apparently 5 of Melanie’s old friends, people who worked with and for her, went on tours with her, and who were constantly with her came out against Melanie multiple times and stood with Timothy but ppl also called them liars and bitter.

but then Globelamp, who only met Timothy once and only had a quote-unquote “friendship” with her over text and twitter dms but comes out against Timothy bc she wants revenge & wants Melanie’s attention now all bc Timothy needed time to herself and didn't want to be jumped by Melanie fans, and ppl immediately believe her....... that is quite literally the definition of fans will believe anybody BUT Timothy.

this wasn't really even supposed to be a rant post lol I was talking abt how bad Piggyback is.

Another thing is that ppl are like "well Timothy and Madeleine are 30 and 31 how could Mel have possibly r#ped them??" even tho a 29 year old should have the exact same maturity as a 30 and 31 year old.

And just a lil bonus but I like watching interrogations from time to time and to be completely honestly with you, Melanie’s claim sounds and honestly is the least believable (well, at least to me). Melanie seems like she is in complete denial (at least back in 2017) about the whole situation and literally never really owned up to it or even discussed it at all. This is a very big red flag to me, even if some of the evidence Timothy has contradicts itself, at least it's more believable with how Melanie reacted to it all.

In my personal opinion, Melanie needs to address this like an actual 29 year old adult would instead of just playing the victim card.

YES, I can absolutely see both them sitting there and invalidate their own experiences. (Unless one of them gets a very important lesson about comparing Trauma)

Trauma dumping though? Currently I doubt wytyaa Jay would. And while bbnb Jay seems willingly to talk to his therapist there’s not a chance 16 year old him from an alternate universe will learn the extent of the shit I had to read through.

The have similar canon complaint story line, to an extent. Both fix my many issues with Cannon and add so much more. Both deal in forced labor extreme physical abuse blood wounds broken bones Starvation With emotional abuse from Nadakhan’s and the crew. But everything beyond that is where things drastically differ

Biggest difference being Explicit vs Mature

Wytyaa being vaguely 16+ and won’t go past implying anything sexual. So a lot is left to interpretation, which is usually easier to handle.

While Bbnb has be 18+ Does not shy away from anything….. no matter how much you wish it would most popular ninjago dead dove for a reason.

Wytyaa Jay is drugged out for the 2 months he has to deal with the withdrawal and wiped memories coming back to him. This scrambles the order you learn about what he went through. Vengestone sorta poisons him, the power suppression is painful and causes long term damage.

In the end Neither Jay is given a moment to feel safe and comfortable over months they are always in extreme danger this is the sort of damage that turns ptsd into C-ptsd✨

Like you said, neither had it easy they both went through hell.

But while comparing trauma is ultimately unhelpful experiences effect people differently both Jays are very traumatized I can tell you one of these was A LOT harder to get through as a reader. VERY much not the same reader experience.

anyhow these r mostly from the magical girls story ive been rotating in my brain for like? 4 or 5 years now?? but specifically the two mentor figures + the opposing antagonists (id posted the first two before on this blog but not the rest bc favoritism) these were frpm around 2022-23 so 👍

these r nikolai (red) and olivia (blue) !!! theyre childhood friends and formerly trained together under the same mentor before they got dragged into a larger, sinister plot/organization and nikolai defecting from them and just general disastrous yuri breakup dozens dead many injured etc. olivia was overly devoted to their mentor and turned a blind eye to the truth of what they were doing convincing herself that shes in the right for doing so! and the shock from nikolais abandoning her festered into immense hatred and theyve been at each others throats ever since <3 now nikolai has a mentee of her own that she simultaneously uses and sends off on missions to lowkey sabotage that organization. said mentee is the lil phantom thief girl ive drawn here and then but i honestly have no clue if ive posted her all that much either. anyways throughout the story they kinda bite each other and also kiss at some point but not before trying to slit each others throats and gouge their eyes out. the usual routine

heres brook and kane!!! brook is the main four's mentor, and old friends w nikolai. theyre somewhat of a secluded and otherworldly being living quietly among humans as an apothecary in the woods, and assists/watches over the gang!!kane along w olivia is one of the subleaders of the evil organization seeking to revive a fallen god to bring upon a new order upon the world but honestly hes not all that into it. he hates the world anyways and is bored all the time even with his extra and dramatic attitude so wouldnt it be kinda fun to bring it to ruin and renew it from there. at least til the magical gang kinda manage to make him come around and he becomes a key ally for them!!! plus he has beef with nikolai since who knows when and before his reformation she kinda would send her little mentee on "errands" to ruin each of his plans. and because of such she happens to run into the main gang often before they eventually befriend her as well (but not without heck of a lot of conflicts on their end too). post reformation though he kinda just pops by now and then with some new intel for them to use + becomes utterly smitten at first sight when he met brook and is now in fervent pursuit of them even with their indifferent ass. brook takes advantage of this by making him do near impossible errands for some rare ingredient or another but somehow he always comes back to their doorstep with the biggest smile on his face bleeding from every part of his body and cheerfully handing them the coveted item. and many such cases. they go drinking w nikolai the same night and vent to her how he would not leave their ass alone and she just laughs at him

basic rundown !!!

Wilma, being a 2 dimensional being herself, has a real hard time getting into 3D worlds. She can usually weasel her way in through some crack in space and time, but sometimes theres things that prevent her from doing so. Which is Frustrating when she's got her eye set on a silly little world she realllllllly feels like taking over and ruling for a while and having Fun.

Now, she's done this a million times before, being the multi trillion year old Thing she is. and sometimes it works out pretty good but sometimes it doesnt! but its fiiiiiine

one of these worlds shes got her eye set on happens to be a particular version of earth . she's tried a few times to worm her way in but she cant quite seem to find a crack :/ but thats okay!

its taken her a very long time, but she planted some seeds of sorts, having gotten into peoples minds, and while shes had a few failed attempts at getting someone to help her slip through into the physical realm, she's still planted enough evidence of herself that someone is bound to come along that she can use to get her through!

And that someone is Suzanne Gleeful. A world renowned scientist who came from quite a lot of money has somewhat recently moved to this silly little town of Gravity Falls, to continue her research and studies.

not too super different from canon, long story short she stumbles upon and summons Wilma up and Wilma to herself is like omggg this is PERFECT i should be able to use her to get in just fine and then i can have soooo much fun (read: endless party under an iron fist)

Wilma fills Anne's head with visions of grandeur and tells her that shes a muse and that she can help her with all her research and whatnot if she just does this litttttttttle thing for her <3 she just has to help her find a way into this world so she can be there physically too <3

And like. Wilma knows already that Suzanne is Fucked Up but listen that's what makes it all so much more fun !! Wilma's fucked up and sick in the head, Suzanne's fucked up and sick in the head, aren't they great together? Perfect candidate to use as a puppet to achieve her needs. Maybe she can even let her stick around once the party has started!

And obvs Suzanne isn't dumb like. Yeah obvs she shouldn't just trust this weird ass triangle that appears in her dreams but yknow what. Promises of magic and knowledge go a hell of a long way.

If Anne can get Wilma into this world, she'll share her magic with her and help her with her wildest dreams.

And so they start working together!! Anne calls up her lovely friend Viola-Jane and Viola comes and starts helping Anne w/ her plans and whatnot and its soooo great mmhm. Anne and Viola are definitely not sapphics and definitely dont have feelings for each other even tho Viola literally has a husband thats Not Important. It's also not important that Wilma and Anne start developing feelings for each other its fiiiiine.

Its extremely important actually but. well. dont worry about it im suuuure itll end up all fine! thats what wilma says! she can let anne rule with her by her side its okay!!

Now. Idk if they actually do the whole portal thing but . anyway . viola doesnt trust wilma but she does recognize like how awesome having something like that on their side could be and helps anne get her here. we're workshopping still how it actually does happen.

And then she's here <3 Wilma Cipher in the flesh !! She's chilling!! What a RELIEF to finally have a body here!!

And. Sure. She's gonna start taking over the world pretty soon but. Oh it's just so peaceful right now, just the two-three of them (viola might be a little back and forth she just had a baby w her husband or whatever. she gets divorced dw about it.) Wilma might as well just chill out and help Anne with her research and whatnot.

And so she does! She's even a willing test subject, for a while! I mean, what's better than having a body you can experiment on without worrying about ethics or recovery time or needing new cadavers all the time- Wilma's a doctor anyway (will elaborate later) and honestly it's kind of hot when Anne straps her down to the operating table and digs around in her guts while she's all numbed up but fully conscious and they can banter and flirt. its kinda hot. leave her alone let her be let her live its kinda hot.

Wilma is also keeping up her end of the bargain and sharing her magic with Suzanne- not too much, but plenty enough to make her feel truly powerful.

Wilma's having a great time though shes being soooo silly with her. partner. and also her partner's . other partner . (none of them are labelling this as anything other than Partner. lab partner? romantic partner? life partner? dont worry about it) even if she and viola don't really get along. its fine. shes having a really great time, she's probably going to actually start her oddpocalypse soon enough!

but alas. all good things must come to an end.

Anne starts getting more and more power hungry. she starts pushing boundaries and getting slowly more and more twisted. But it's fineeee its nothing Wilma can't handle, besides, she does love an evil hot fucked up woman.

She's even daydreaming about getting married.

It's going. Mostly Fine. until one day.

Suzanne calls Wilma into her office. And she's like "Wilma darling love babygirl I have a surprise for you" and wilma honestly thinks shes going to propose right then and there.

Wilma sits across from her and Suzanne gets up and she wraps her arms around Wilma from behind and they hum and Wilma closes her eyes and she's even a little giggly and she feels Suzanne's hands rest on her neck.

And then she feels something heavy around her neck. And she's confused.

She reaches up and feels a thick, heavy collar and chain...? And it feels like the magic that flows through her, the same magic she's sharing with Suzanne

She was confused, kind of scared, and thought honestly that it was some kind of weird joke

She stood up and asked what in the world was Suzanne doing, but she just grabbed her hands- and then her wrists

Where glowing yellow shackles appeared as well.

Wilma was in denial as it was all happening, it had to be some kind of cruel joke, her. partner. wasnt binding and imprisoning and trapping her- HER, of all people! The most powerful creature this plane of existence had ever seen!

Except ummm that's exactly what was happening.

Now, while Anne loves her pretty little butterfly, she can't just let her go around loose and risk letting her wreak havoc and maybe even destroy this world. She knows Wilma's got more behind her eyes than she seems, Suzanne knows she can't risk that.

And. Now. While Wilma really does love her with her whole heart, she does start to lunge to fight back- but she feels her body involuntarily stop as Anne holds up a hand.

She was truly under her control.

From then on out, any orders given to her she had to complete, and was physically unable to obey. She was not allowed to lie to Suzanne, she was not allowed to harm her, and she was going to do whatever she said. Wilma's magic was incredibly restricted- sure, she was a being of infinite energy, but that energy could be throttled. The water still runs when you turn on the hose, but only a little comes out when you pinch it.

But as long as she cooperated, everything would be fine <3

I uh.. oh shit, this is tricky. I had no idea, like, most of the character that fit Dandy's world theme that I'm looking through in my folders, doesn't look like they fit in that au much at all. There are a few that fits and that's Dr.Appl, Wifi and Winifred. They may need a lot of redesign to fits but honestly, I gotta do more research and think about it.

Jfgjdsg sorry I took so long 2 answers. I wasn't sure how much info I should spill, so I rewrote this like 6 times. each time a different part of the story lol

¡ info dump !

So! First thing about Cream is that they're a demon! Well, technically part demon. Cream comes from a long family history of demon blood. On their mother's side, it's rumored that the family made a deal with the devil for power and riches but for whatever reason they never uphold the deal and was cursed with supernatural ability that will never give them peace. Basically, they're kinda like mediums.

On their father's, rumored to blessed with the blood of angels. Noble and holy people who lead with strength and wisdom. They’re basically like royalty. But plot twist! Both sides of the family r from demons ! A lot happens (trauma) in their childhood and early life, but I won't get to that

Where the story starts is when Cream is being dragged up from 'hell' after just successfully taking over the throne . She was just betrayed by one of their allies, which she had suspected but underestimated how hard they were gonna hit. Being dragged up to the moral realm means death to demons, but since Cream is part human, it won't kill her because she has a physical form.

Anyways, where Cream was pulled up from was in Judith's late grandma's backyard, who watched the whole thing. Obviously scared shitless she starts freaking out.

Cream needs energy to get back to 'hell' so they take control of the situation and convince judith that they're just an injured poor soul that just wants to go home :(

Judith unfortunately believes them bc she understand how it feels. Cream can easily read Judith right off the bat. Judith is deeply insecure, low self-esteem, and just wants to belong, plus ! She's grieving over her presume to be dead grandma. Cream takes advantage of her vulnerability and tells judith whatever she wanna hear to slowly consume her energy (which will eventually kill her). Girl falls in love with them bc who wouldn't?

This is the part of the story where I'm deciding how cruel Cream will be for her own desires . Is this all just an act to get what they want and secretly actually care about Judith in their weird way? Or does cream simple not gaf ?

Uhhh fun facts!

• Cream goes by they/she/it . No longer really sees themselves as a person more of a thing. No labels on sexuality bc Cream will go for anyone they think is fun

• Cream has Anophthalmia, which is when the eye is didn’t develop . They also happen to get a scar over that eye in a bar fight lol

• favorite bands are MARINA and Studio Killers

• dosen't like wearing clothes lmao they kinda feel like they're above that so Judith has to convince them to wear at least a shirt. It's a good day if she can get Cream to wear a dress at least

• hasn't been it the mortal realm since the 16th century, so it has been a difficult adjustment for them

• when the story takes place, Cream unknowingly has a great (x20) granddaughter roaming around. It doesn't have any importance to the story, tho

Hiii. I love your acc and the analyses you've made of TVC characters; reading your posts has expanded and helped me articulate the ideas I already had. Anne Rice as an author was very revealing, I mean, by reading her books and analyzing the characters and their dynamics, you get a lot of information about her as a person. That's very interesting. I think all authors put a bit of themselves into their works, but with Anne Rice it feels more personal, maybe because there are quite a few books following the same characters. What do you think?

The books are suuuper personal, sometimes to the point where I almost feel like I shouldn’t have access to them 😭 like I’m reading someone’s weird diary. I think this was because her writing functioned as her only outlet. like iwtv was so visceral and sad bcus it was such a raw unfiltered expression of her grief, and the rest of the books all follow the same format (to varying degrees of quality lol).

When it comes to the characters, she was open about how every character is in some way representative of a part of her (especially Lestat and Louis). U can analyze for days how Louis and lestats evolutions r akin to witnessing evolutions of Anne rices mental health, Louis her former self insert created during probably the darkest time in her life later becoming a representation of what she considers the worst parts of herself that she is ashamed of and being basically cut from the series, and Lestat going from an embodiment of her fraught relationship with her husband in iwtv to in tvl a power fantasy who she wishes she was like to at the same time a mouth piece for her existential dread and loneliness and anxieties

The way that lestats religious crisis and manic breakdown from Memnoch to blood canticle aligns perfectly with Anne rice’s own religious crisis and sudden shift in her work is so crazy to me😭 and then there’s Anne rice literally using Lestat as a blatant mouth piece to scream at the audience in the iconic blood canticle opening monologue of course, how could we forget. A lot of the time the personal nature of these books makes the technical quality of them worse, but even still it is one of the major reasons why I love them so much. Part of it is that reading something so personal and unfiltered, where u get the impression that the author wasn’t thinking at all about how it would come off to people while writing it, makes it feel almost more real to me? Or more authentic? Reading tvc sometimes makes me feel like I’m reading actual history or personal accounts from real people. And the bad writing and offensiveness and heaps of bullshit and the pages of unrelated tangents adds to this in a way 😭. Like yeah this is exactly what reading a biography by a hundreds of years old vampire would be like lmao.

I love interpreting themes in these books so much because I often feel like Anne rice didn’t place them there on purpose. She had a very “I’ll just write whatever is in my mind and the themes will happen on there own” approach, and they did! and for someone like me analyzing it is super rewarding. Figuring stuff out that the author wasn’t even aware of, basically. Tvc are rich with meaning in a way that only these books are, and the personal nature and the lack of thought into meaning or themes is I think majorly responsible. For me when it comes to fiction, I like to do the work. And Anne rice throwing her personal as hell freak sex vampire yaoi with the most agonizing portrayals of trauma and mental illness ever no editing no forethought out into the world definitely gives me room to do the work 😭

Also, I tend to really only enjoy art if I feel like it is a messy reflection of the creator. I’m not sure why but I can never really get into something unless I can see some of the creators flaws or baggage reflected in the work 😭 I feel like art isn’t rlly art to me if I don’t feel like a know the person who made it a little too well after seeing it. There’s something really special about finding out the worst parts of someone in a book, honestly. I love reading these and being like there is so much wrong with this woman and I know way too much about it 😭 she’s horrible but I’ve lived in her mind and I don’t wanna leave.

I admire in a way Anne rices unhinged abandon with how blatantly vent-like and unfiltered her books were (literally unedited 😭). She got extremely lucky making a career from it, typing out all her insane thoughts and feelings into gay vampires and becoming rich and famous. A girl can only dream for that life, I do that shit for free on a03. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered anything published that has the same energy as tvc in this way. The only thing that comes close would be like, a quotev fan fiction I read for laughs written by a ten year old in 2010 who is unintentionally revealing way too much to me about their semi concerning home life 😭. I could get arrested for tax evasion.”   “Right,” he shakes his head. “You’re more afraid of the IRS.”  “Yeah, we are talkin’ about the American government here. You think the fuckin’ apocalypse is gonna stop them from getting their money?” Never mind that the world ended twenty-two years ago. You know he’s letting you play up the bit because he thinks you’ll let your guard down.  You’re hoping it works in reverse.  “Alright, well, let’s find you somewhere safe to do your taxes.” “Agreed. You’ll go back to your brother and I’ll find the nearest H&R Block.”
