I mean, if an enemy, as powerful as I don't know LBD or canon Azur Lion, captured MK and used him as leverage even threatening to hurt him, would Wukong and Macaque actually let themselves be weakened for Mk's safety? Or just F*CK IT time to kill whoever dared to touch the prince?

Well I mean any good parent would have their children as their weak points, that means they care and love them, and Wukong and Macaque love Xiaotian with their whole hearts.

So if an evil bad guy ever pops up they would definitely go for the emperor’s heart: Xiaotian. And those two would do anything in their power to protect their child

Okay this popped into my head this morning during breakfast, but out of everyone in the Linden clan, the Rennard Clan, Nico and Jovie too, who would like chocolate covered bacon?

How did you come up with roleswap Elfilis' design? It's really cool!

Hi! Thank you so much! :D I'd love to share my thought process! Gather round the armchair by the fireplace, friends! It's story time!

I've said before that the Forgotten Land Roleswap started off as a doodle that swapped Dedede and Bandana Dee's roles as Player 2 and the Brainwashed Beast. But when I realized how fun that one little change was, how about EVEN MORE changes? That's how my one-time doodle turned into the full AU story. I swapped Meta Knight and Kirby, Clawroline and Leongar, and Sillydillo and Gorimondo- and because the story is so Waddle-Dee centric, I promoted Dedede to "Player 1" since the stakes would be higher for him as their King.

So now I had a story that had a lot of opposite traits to canon and I wanted to explore that further! When it came to the matter of Elfilin, I thought he would probably behave too similarly towards Dedede and Meta as he did to Kirby and Bandee. He'd be friendly and trusting, communicative, optimistic, knowledgeable, and cooperative. So how about providing them a travel companion who is defensive, has trouble communicating, a little wild, uninformed about themselves and the world around them, and has a bit of a temper?

But working with all these opposite traits didn't feel in-character for Elfilin anymore. So my natural next step was to swap Elfilin with Elfilis and make a new version of the Forgotten Land's lost little pup!

Enough yapping about the context behind my decisions, tho. How'd I come up with Roleswap Elfilis' design?

I see you out there, Fecto Forgo fans. Maybe somebody out there's thought, "Roleswap Elfilis does not look like them! Why not? That's what the other 50% of the Ultimate Life Form looks like! I demand justice for the angry glowing rat fetus!"

Maybe nobody has ever thought this. But I wonder sometimes lol

Your feelings are valid, friends. Please lemme explain my reasonings.

This fella, to me, is the abandoned wet specimen left to float in a jar for who-knows-how-long after a forcible physical and mental separation via spatial teleportation shenanigans. And I think part of their appearance is due to their role as the trapped and forgotten half.

The role of the half that got away fully formed his own body and inherited some traits from the complete being-

For Elfilin in canon, he got ears that are proportionally huge compared to the rest of his body, blue eyes that sparkle with the light of a thousand destroyed planets, a tiny bit of pink fur for his adorable blushies, and a really long fluffy tail. Maybe becoming a being free of chaos gave him those sweet eyes like Kirby and the Waddle Dees have.

My reasoning is that whichever half ends up escaping the Lab and fully forming their own body, they would carry the major physical traits the other wouldn't inherit.

Anyway, that left Elfilis with the horns, colorful and expressive eyes, whiskers, beige chest fluff, opposable thumbs, and pink tummy fur.

Elfilin gets the long tail in the bodily divorce so Elfilis has a short stubby little cotton tail like a bunny. Like if he ended up with just the very tip of the Ultimate Life Form's tail.

Behold this diagram above I came up with two years ago! Disclaimer: the canon Elfilin is the one in the chart. And I draw him a little differently these days lol. I ain't showing anyone how he ended up in the Roleswap yet tho!!!! >:0

But Roleswap Elfilis is more than just "baby version of the Ultimate Life Form..."

All the differences in the Forgotten Land Roleswap from canon stem from one event in the timeline. One change that I added to the events that were already supposed to take place. It's why the Ultimate Life Form split differently. Why the Beasts have different roles and aesthetics. Even why the portal took Bandana Dee and Kirby before Meta Knight and King Dedede.

How did that saying go again? The flap of wings somewhere can influence a bunch of huge changes somewhere else down the line...? What was the name of that theory again....? Hmm. Not important, I guess.

He was breathless, his ears were ringing and the knuckles of his right hand hurt.

Oscar wasn’t sure what had just happened, how he’d even got here. One moment he’d been on the dance floor getting an sos text from Lando and the next he was in the alleyway behind the club, with a large drunk man face down on the pavement in front of him.

He tried to piece it all together. After getting the text he came running and spotted the confrontation. He’d seen Lando push the man and the man ball up a fist in response. Before Oscar had even realised it, he’d balled up a fist as well. 

He’d just wanted to protect Lando. He hadn’t wanted to hurt anyone but Lando had been in danger and a simple counter wouldn't have worked. Punching that man was the only choice Oscar had and he’d reacted without even thinking, like something else had taken over his body, like a fire had suddenly been lit and stoked and roared into life. In that moment he felt like everything turned red, he felt like he was out of control and yet had more control than ever before.

He felt!

And he was still feeling.

What he was feeling he had no idea, he didn’t know how to describe it. This was all new, overwhelming, suffocating but he quite liked it.

He felt alive.

i think a lot about pitsmell.

following a conversation with my gf, i remembered one of the things that awakened me to this as a concept. i was at a ren faire several years ago, where this older lady was selling all sorts of homemade soapstones and things of that nature. she claimed to not have used traditional soap or deodorant or anything in years, and encouraged people to feel her skin and to notice how she smelled (her skin was very soft and she smelled normal to me), and i was captivated that such a thing would be possible without all that stuff we generally always use.

gonna leave the rest of this under the cut cause it's a big wall of text...

i never really *hated* deodorant, but i don't like the way most of it smells. but my genetics make me extraordinarily sweaty, and so strong antipersperant deodorant has been a staple for the vast majority of my life. but honestly i got really sick of it, so i decided to do some experimentation back when i lived alone. i found that putting on deodorant, and then not re-applying or showering for a few days, made me *far* more sweaty and smelly than the same time sans any deodorant. i repeated this several times and noticed it consistently to be the case. i will still put on deodorant for special occasions like fur cons, or meeting new people, but i'll always shower afterwards because it's so much more comfortable without it. smell-wise and also physically, with my pits not being uncharacteristically dry and sweaty. i still sweat, and start to smell after a couple days, but i've noticed a vast improvement, and no weird looks or negative comments on it from friends or people i regularly interact with. i will say my physical activity is somewhat limited, but i do walk to all my doctor's appointments, grocery trips, etc. and use public transit where needed. it is important to note though, there's a point where the smell goes from alluring to repulsive, and sometimes that line is very fine. it varies person to person. i'd say generally if you aren't going to wear deodorant, it's important to wash your pits with a rag and some water and put on a fresh shirt (it makes a BIG difference) before going out, at the very least. a lot of the repulsive odors come from bacteria cultivating and lack of cleanliness due to sweat buildup and evaporation in the area. it takes a bit more maintenance, but i've found it's so worth it. i feel physically more comfortable, because i sweat a *normal* amount now, and my pits aren't sticky, and my t-shirts don't get ruined from deodorant rubbing off.

that is all to say - there's so much more possibility and variance with this stuff, than i ever would have expected. i would genuinely love to study this as a science and learn more about it. it was genuinely really fun and gratifying to experiment and figure this stuff out!

Oooh hoo! I'm actually making them explore their love languages in the fic I'm writing right LMAO.

But yeah! I'll share some of my brain thoughts!!

Their love languages:

Lucifer's Lover Language: Gift Giving (he likes creating things, especially if he has someone specific in mind because that's when its got the most heart and effort in it, and people accepting his gifts and genuinely liking them mean the absolute word to him), Words of Affirmation (sometimes he just needs some affirmation, you know? Sometimes he needs to be told he's doing a good job), and Physical Touch (likes the closeness and intimacy of it, whether its cuddling, sex, or just holding hands).

Alastor's Love Language: Acts of Service (he shows his love by doing things for you, be it home cooked meals, picking up a few things for you, or killing someone. It's all in the name of love, baby!), Words of Affirmation (give him compliments. He needs them like air. if there's any stroking going on, it's going to be strokes to his ego), and Quality Time (arranged quality time, to be specific. I feel like he wouldn't like people popping up on him out of nowhere and dragging him off. Well, unless you're Rosie, maybe. Anyway, sometimes it's just being in his own room, doing his own thing, in the companionship of Lucifer's company. They can talk and argue and banter, but companionable silence is good too.)

Who cooks for the other?

Alastor.

Alastor def cooks for Lucifer when he actually enjoys being in his presence. He knows a lot of home-cooked meals, as well as a variety of desserts and sweets (even if he, personally, doesn't like sweet things). Some of it is because he enjoys cooking for people he likes, and some of it is just because it's a fun hobby to him. He likes learning how to cook new recipes, even if he might not like that recipe himself.

I think Lucifer knows how to cook. Maybe nothing extravagant or super complicated, but he can make a good dish. As soon as Charlie moved out, he kind of fell out of it, though. Anything he made for himself was Hell's equivalent of a microwaveable dinner. He just did not have the motivation, energy, or mental/emotional capacity to put a lot of effort into himself. He really enjoyed cooking things for Charlie, and I actually think he'd tried to cook Alastor's favorite dish as a surprise for him (for their anniversary, or an in-house date night, or just as a random act of love, because I feel like Lucifer would do a lot of spur-of-the-moment, random acts of love).

Have they ever considered sleeping in the same bed?

They did, eventually, when their relationship got to the point they felt comfortable doing that. Alastor likes his space, and he doesn't like people intruding on it. His room is his comfort zone. He doesn't mind physical touch, but it needs to be on his own terms. Sometimes, he's okay with cuddling up next to Lucifer, and sometimes he just needs his space while he's sleeping.

Lucifer can still be in the bed, he's just gotta stay on his side.

Lucifer, on the other hand, is a big cuddler. He's incredibly touch-starved from being on his own for so long, so he'll take the physical touch he can get. Alastor can recognize when Lucifer needs more physical touch, and he'll offer it so long as he's also mentally able to as well.

The more they get used to each other's presence, the more Alastor is open to Lucifer sleeping in the same bed with him, and indulging in physical contact. Lucifer is patient, and if Alastor wants him to stay on his side of the bed one night, he's fine with that. He'll get his cuddles again, eventually.

What would they bond over?

How bad modern television/entertainment is. It's all quantity over quality. There's rarely any real passion put into it. It's all to make as much money as possible, without putting life into the story.

Alastor is an entertainer. As a radio host, all he had to keep a captive audience was his voice and whatever other sounds he decided to use. It's all audio. And he has passion for entertainment. It needs flair! Drama! Charm!

All the modern stuff just feels so bland and lazy (and maybe he's a little too harsh on it sometimes. Even if he comes across something he actually likes, he'll NEVER admit it).

Lucifer just wants something good to watch, but anything he put on just didn't hit it for him. Sometimes, just sitting on the couch for hours watching cash-grab movies/shows made him feel even worse about himself, and creating ducks at least gave him some enjoyment, so he turned to that.

He doesn't have as much vehemence for modern entertainment as Alastor. If he finds something he likes, he'll happily watch it (much to Alastor dismay). But he rarely finds anything that REALLY intrigues him, so he just doesn't go searching for it very often.

I also think they would bond over their respective hobbies. Lucifer likes making and collecting ducks. Alastor likes collecting furbies. They go hobby shopping together. Alastor rearranges and dusts off his furbies, while Lucifer creates his ducks. They co-play.

Additional headcanons (some of which you guys might already know!):

Alastor Bottoms and Lucifer Tops (In this specific relationship. Lucifer, himself, is a switch (which is canon!), but Alastor doesn't like topping- or inserting any part of himself into someone else. It's icks him out. He's okay with taking on a more passive bottom role. He might be convinced to Top, maybe, but it rarely ever happens).

Alastor is sex neutral, in the way that he's okay with having sex when he feels up to it, but he's also totally fine with not having it at all (Except when Lucifer goes demon mode in bed, because he has a power kink, and he is ALL for that. It's the only time he'll be an active bottom during sex).

Lucifer has a very high libido. It dropped a lot in the 7 years that he isolated himself in his palace (and because of depression. Depression definitely had a hand in that too), but as he starts getting into a better mind space and getting the mental-health help he needs, his libido comes back full force. He'll never push Alastor into doing anything, and he's okay with taking care of his sexual needs on his own, he's just a very, very horny man. He loves the intimacy, closeness, and pleasure that comes with sex, and loves sharing that with his partner. It's very important to him. It took a while for Alastor to really understand WHY sex is so important to Lucifer, as it doesn't really make sense to him, but once he did, he tries to be more active when they do have sex - or more proactive in initiating it (of course, only when he wants to, because you shouldn't force yourself to have sex with your partner!)

Alastor and Lucifer argue about the stupidest, most random, most insignificant things. It'll lead to full on shouting matches, and then 10 minutes later, they're chilling on the couch like nothing happened at all. They argue for the sake of arguing. The more heated, the better.

Annnd, that's all I have time for right now, but I do have more headcanons tumbling around in my head. Many thoughts.

If you could relive any memory of your past, what would it be?

My first thought was: the first night I met my wife. It was in December 2016, and she just got off a 12hr train ride from Canada to visit me in the States. We had been texting and calling for months, but never met in person before. So I went to pick her up, and as soon as I saw her, I knew immediately that I was going to marry her! We hugged for awhile at the station. Then we went to a hotel and..... yeah fdjslkfsdajf We got married in 2018 🥰 SO CHEESY i know but it's my honest answer! Hmmm… Well, tbh I’m not sure if i have anything like that for TNV. Though originally the chapter order was WAY different and had to be adjusted on the fly to help it flow better. I really like how it turned out instead.

The only thing i could think of that ‘didn’t make it in’ was lore for the mask. While i was writing “Strings” I was having trouble finding a reason for Donnie to go to the Hidden City bazaar—

Originally, I was going to make the mask a clue for Donnie to chase (under his ‘Wealthy Art Collector’ disguise) … but it just wasn’t working out. It didn’t FEEL right, you know? So i scrapped that idea— ultimately, the mask is just a piece of yokai art/costume piece he yoinked lol

I have some other things in this AU that won’t make it into TNV… but that’s not to say they won’t ever get written some day >:3c

but for who would appreciate it most? Glitchy. no question. you don't see nature in glitch city- nothing that is alive there is natural. there is no day or night, just a void above half-blocked by the corruption below. to have the ability to just... sit down somewhere safe and natural and look at the world. watch the stars and the colors and all. i think it'd bring about a rare moment of quiet vulnerability. for him, it's been so long- everything on the outside would be beautiful. if you took him stargazing, it'd be the first time he'd seen them in a very long time.

hi! I started reading your fanfic a couple days ago and I just wanted to let you know how amazing it is <33 I finished princess tutu less than a week ago and I'm so glad to find such high quality content ! Do you have any specific headcanons about rue and mythos relationship?

Aaaaa tysm Im so so happy you like it!! Man. Man finishing tutu for the first time literally a transcendent experience, it rewired my brain chemistry forever.

I will preface this with saying I think rue and mytho are really cute. I like how it’s her strength that draws him to her. When he sees how much she’s suffered under years of abuse he realizes he WANTS to love her which is monumental considering mytho spends most of the show unaware or confused about what he wants.

THAT SAID… ohohohoho Ruetho you have so many problems. I hope it’s coming through in my fic but I write them as walking on eggshells around each other. Rue is frightened that one day he’ll “wake up” from his love and she’ll be left directionless in life. Rue has put all her eggs in one basket for her entire life. We, the audience, know she would be okay without mytho. Not only does she have Duck but she has so many admirable qualities that we KNOW she’ll be okay standing on her own. Rue doesn’t see it that way. Mytho has, in her eyes, been the only person who could love her for so many years of COURSE she conceptualizes her whole identity around him. If she loses mytho she loses her sense of self. So she tries to be what her idea of a perfect princess who was never touched by the raven would be. She only wears light colors, she tries to never show negative emotions, and she works hard to make everyone in mytho’s kingdom love her. The problem is she believes she’s one tiny slip up away from losing everything

Mytho on the other hand loves Rue truly, but he has yet to process his trauma by her hands. If you look for it, in my fic I write little details like him flinching when rue raises her voice or snapping to attention when she gets angry. But he hates these responses in himself and he tries to steam roller over them. I imagine mytho as someone who’s so wrapped around the idea of being the perfect honorable prince, and princes love their princesses unconditionally. They aren’t angry or hurt or afraid of them. And Rue is rue right? Kraehe was a trick of the raven. So he tells himself he’s okay and he tells himself he’s moved on from their past but all the while the cracks in their relationship grow bigger. Deep down he’s hurt and he’s angry but those are ugly emotions he’s been without for so long he doesn’t know how to process them

I think a core detail in how I conceptualize them is they both perceive themselves as being the lesser one in a a power imbalance. Rue is a plain, human girl unworthy of a prince and one day he will realize his mistake and leave her. Mytho is afraid of Kraehe, no matter how much he reassures himself he has forgiven rue, and as such he’s very careful with what he says and does around her

Anyways I like to think in the 3 years between the end of the show and the start of the fic they have never gotten into a real argument. They both won’t let themselves show their real emotions so we have these two people wearing beautiful, flawless porcelain masks to hide the absolute maelstrom of emotions they are feeling. Their love comes from a real foundation and they do express it, it’s everything else that is wrong. Tldr; she’s trying to be a perfect barbie and he’s trying to be a perfect ken. They are both miserable
