MY OFFICIAL DAYSHIFT AT FREDDYS 2 REVIEW:

peter is here yay hi peter my friend peter who i'm soooo happy to seeeeee! yayayayayayayayay

so- dsaf1 was kind of nothing imo, overall, a couple funny bits and interesting in a "seeing where a creator i like has come from creatively" angle, but broadly just doesn't have much to talk about, i don't think. a liiiittle bit agonizing to play.

dsaf2, on the other hand, absolutely has meat on its bones, and overall was really enjoyable!

comedy-wise, i think it stumbled in some parts- a few bits go on Way longer than they need to (the whole candy cat thing, the inexplicable extended always sunny reference??, and the freddy space oddity bit was definitely funny but dragged on a bit) but there's a lot of stuff here that absolutely made me laugh out loud.

(a lot of those just being sprites of jack and dave in their stupid mascot suits, their weird little faces peeking out of the mouths really crack me up. great design on those two and especially on their expressions, they're very funny-lookin.)

while he doesn't have much to him that i find especially compelling, dave in general is a really funny character, absolutely helped along by his hilarious tts voice. the tts voices overall are really good

story- and writing-wise, dsaf2 has a lot more going for it and it definitely compelled me. i think the line-to-line writing when in the more storyful or emotional moments is preeeeeettty shaky. it doesn't tend to have a whole lot of character to it (and i want to avoid Excessive comparisons but like. especially when comparing to dialtown's writing, which is absolutely brimming with character. look at one-off characters like tango who show up for a tiny amount of time but still have so much individuality and charm to em for what i mean) and feels pretty utilitarian, more often than not. the written jokes also don't land a lot for me, but that's in large part owing to "it's not 2017 anymore".

(i think this game's visual humor was by far the most successful. the fucking cop, peter's Photoshop Skills and the image he made of his head on a real buff guy got me, and so did this frame of davetrap:)

but the broad emotional strokes definitely hit for me- all the stuff about the kennedys and their relationships, mainly, less so for like. fredbear and the dead children but yknow. but the stuff between jack and peter, and peter and caroline, i think that worked really well (and to a lesser extent, jack and the marionette, owing to knowing the spoiler about her identity). i suppose part of that is having already known peter as a character in dt and being really fond of him going in, but i think i'd have found it plenty compelling even if i hadn't.

the bits when jack and peter begin to actually connect, and little tidbits like peter hugging jack on his way out, that definitely got me. i was also expecting jack and peter's relationship to be a lot more adversarial- i was surprised by them really connecting like that in the good route, and i'm nothing if not an absolute sucker for a sibling relationship like that. i really like them!

also the picture on the wall of peter and bald peter. please look at it. please look at it

i'm interested to know more about jack as a character. for the most part, he does just kind of seem like. generic player character, in his dialogue, but there's parts where something interesting absolutely shines through (his immediately changing the topic after delving into peter's past for example). his change in demeanor and the purple text in the true evil route is also interesting.

one of the coolest parts, as mentioned before, is also just seeing this earlier work having already been a massive dialtown fan. there's a lot in the humor and the general style of stuff here that's like, you can really see how the writing got honed over time and eventually developed into what we see in dt today (and, hell, even comparing base dt and roger dlc you see some of that development), it's just a really neat process to watch happen! like seeing ONE's artstyle get better over the course of mob psycho 100, yknow?

(and some things here make me very grateful dt is purely a visual novel with no gameplay segements.......those fucking cake children..)

it's also fascinating seeing little tidbits that would become like, an Actual Thing in dt- jack's own narrator stands out the most to me there.

i've been told that dsaf3 is far and away the best of the trilogy, so i'm excited to get to it! (and ROGER!!!!!AHHHH) (ive also heard great things about jake in particular. excited to meet him!)

IN SUMMARY

dsaf1 is a game you can play, absolutely. it has. characters, and dialogue, and most of all, gameplay. it has all of these things, for sure

It's the dudes inside my head, yay. Though they're all asleep, well two of em are. I drew this for whatever purpose it would serve, that being that my insides, while still a confused state and overall over reactive response to anything that needs rephrasing. Or just anything that happens, good, bad, whatever, that it has a way of comforting itself. It tries.

It tries to do the bare minimum of existing, even if it is tricky with having to always remember and think of more to do.

How to react appropriately, how to understand things to its full capability. How to understand others and everything more.

It's difficult, not in the way that doing things is difficult, but however that goes. These conceptualized beings of emotion have existed for some time, don't remember when but they have. But they always hadn't looked like this, obviously/lh.

But they all serve the same purpose combined or separate.

And, to go completely off topic, to go ramble.

Songs have whatever emotional attachment they can hold, whether important or not, it's just something that sticks. Helps.

And as you can see how much art I make, how many times I've probably listened to most of all the songs on repeat by now, what random pieces of dialogue I'll spew to write.

Chonny's music is comfort. Now it isn't just his, other artists as well. But those aren't important rn. His music in general, not just CCCC. Through whatever emotional moment months ago that made me feel lost and confused on what to do, what do I do now. I needed to find something to latch onto, if not, I'd feel..off. like I wasn't doing anything, because I wasn't doing anything. I tried to get into stuff but it wasn't working, like it needed to naturally happen instead of force myself.

The music has related to my state of mind (no pun) at certain points. And I find that comforting. Concerning? Maybe, but comforting.

Like, getting into what's popular, what new game, but that didn't work. And I'm kinda happy my brain decided to be now fixated on this man's music. Sure every time I'd like to explain or show someone, I need to specify and always show specific songs. Cus. Yeah. But now, I see people's work and stuff, and it's all so cool. And though the inconsistency of this blog is very apparent. I've enjoyed my time on here, very much. Even if I don't always actually speak to someone, because I don't really know what to say or start a conversation. (Seeds/social anxiety). I'm still happy for whatever interaction I get. I'm happy to feel included in this bizarre/pos and silly household. Idk why I'm calling it a household. Just go with it.

Even if I linger around or just post a drawing, I'm enjoying it. Some artwork may be more serious than silly. But yeah.

And to also just say whatever without rethinking is great, now I'm not going to say anything out of word. But just being silly in general with my wording. Y'know? Make odd jokes or talk excessively. (Wow).

Sum it up, I appreciate you all. Though you don't know me or I know you, it means a lot. I didn't think a joke about Heart beating up Mind would be turned into anything else, or that people would actually say anything.

This is just a happy little appreciation thing. I don't know how to end it! I just felt to write this.

hello logmore! silly question but i was curious about your thoughts on like a dragon: infinite wealth so far. you mentioned being bored by the first few chapters (fair) so i’m curious what your impression is now that you’ve played more of it. i wish sega was a bit more transparent about the development of the yakuza games because im kind of fascinated by some of the decisions they made in this one

I finished the game last night so I can reply now. I will talk about Infinite Wealth spoilers here:

Things I like:

Combat: Just Yakuza 7 combat but fleshed out, which is perfect. Being able to position your character is great, the team chain attacks and weapon attacks and stuff are fun to set up. The one flaw with it is that it does not interact with Kiryu very well, and by the end I was actually doing less damage with Kiryu if I got a tag team or weapon attack instead of a basic Brawler attack.

Classes: There were a lot of classes I ignored in 7 because they just weren't doing anything; it was just better to leave Joongi, Zhao, and Eri as their defaults and go to town. I think 8 has an improved skill inheritance system that made it more worthwhile to try out different classes, so by the end I switched every character away from their base class. Desperado and Aquanaut stood out as being very flexible and fun.

Kiryu: Technically this is an Ichiban game, but its more of a send-off to Kiryu than anything. I like how there was a ton of content dedicated to Kiryu revisiting characters from the past games, delivered in a way that I still liked it even though I only played 0 and 1. I thought the way they introduced leveling up his stances + gaining the ability to go beat-em-up mode was pretty clever. I also liked equipping him with gear that gave him buffs every turn so he could tear enemies apart like King's Hawaiian rolls.

Yamai: They knew what they were cooking here. You have to fight this guy like 4 times and I enjoyed it every time. He's cool, he looks cool, even the main characters say he is cool, and if he isn't playable in Yakuza 9 I'm gonna be astounded.

Things I don't:

Slow start: The first chapter got me pretty invested, but after Ichiban goes to Hawaii the story is a fucking slog for like 15 hours. I got so bored I stopped playing, and when I came back it finally picked up again.

Side content that I wasn't ever going to do: This is the reason the start of the story is so slow. I'm sure Dondoko Island and Crazy UberEats and all that is fun, but it isn't the type of thing I'm playing these games for, and when so much time in the story is spent ramping up all these side games to play, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. Next game might as well have a Virtua Fighter 6 tournament in the middle of it, why not?

Villains: Bryce and Ebina are just lame characters. This is a game with essentially 2 final bosses, but neither of them have the emotional core or the weight of the bosses from 7. Bryce is literally just 'a weird guy shows up', and while I understand what they were going for with Ebina, his goals seem so disconnected from what the protagonists are experiencing that him taking his shirt off and fighting Kiryu doesn't feel like a real climax. Getting Danny Trejo on board was a pretty inspired choice, but you fight Dwight so early that it framed him as a weakling that didn't matter. And he keeps coming back, in spite of that! There were a few showdowns in 7 where it felt high stakes/intense, but in 8 they had to bust out Sawashiro again to capture that.

Managing 2 parties at the same time: On one hand its cool because it means I get to use every party member, but I wish they bumped up the XP of whatever party you weren't playing, so that when you switched between them they were both at the same level. There were a couple of points where I had to grind because the difficulty of the content was scaling based on what my previous party had left off at, so I needed to get my current party to that level first. I also had to spend a lot of time doing the dungeons to get the materials for weapon upgrades on 9 characters. Just kind of time consuming, but it isn't the worst thing in the world.

Tatara Channel: Its dumb, but this is the only thing in the game that actually made me mad. The social media aspect of the story already feels dated in a way, and I don't care about Vtubers to begin with, but the thing that actually got me upset about this shit is that all the Tatara Channel scenes are just story recaps with unskippable dialog where something relevant MIGHT happen at the end. At one point I got tired of it and just skipped the cutscene, and then all of the sudden Kiryu is in front of Tojo HQ ready to fight. I hope they never deliver a plot in this way ever again

Even though I wrote more negative things than positive things, I still liked this game a lot. 7 is a way better story, but I think Ichiban and Kiryu are just too strong of protagonists to truly hate on the story, even if a lot of things surrounding it are dumb. I'm looking forward to playing pirates with Majima, and I will wish on a genie's lamp for Yamai to come back as a playable berserker-type character

Kwazii design Take 1 (plus Kobb!)

sorry if my info seems wack I'm only now just starting to catch up to above and beyond lol

{ LONG POST BUT IT DOES INCLUDE SOME HEADCANONS ABOUT KWAZII AND HOW HE JOINS THE OCTONAUTS}

Ok so I'm gonna be honest this is from like 2 weeks ago when I was first getting back into the octonauts hyper fixation and the way I've drawn kwazii Has Changed since then but its still pretty close lol

Btw, that's Kobb, someone from his "mysterious pirate past" loll. His name is Kobb because its inspired from Japanese Kobolds, Hes a doberman.

He comes off as a guy with very quiet and threatening aura full of silent intense states, but really he's a sweetheart. He's not very talkative, but he adores children (knew kwazii since he was a kitten) and is the type to take the blame to keep others safe. He's really a shantyman, (I'll have to dump all my pirate lore and how it works in the octonauts universe in another post, I'll link it when I do) and that doesn't just mean like singing songs, but also communication of ship orders via long distance with flags, whistles, howls, and such.

He also knows how to work a canon :)

INFODUMP ON KWAZII HERE:

I would give kwazii some sick pirate earrings and all that jazz, but honestly dude lets be real there be BARACUDAS and YEAH.

He switches his eye patch between his eyes because apparently pirates mightve used em to effectively train their eyes to see in the dark better? Very cool to me, so for below deck and night raids which makes sense. The smudged eyeliner is also just Kohl, which is an old thing that alot people still use because they believe it improves the health and vision of the eyes. Makes extra sense when I remember cats see in the dark lol.

Kwazii was a bit of a lookout in his preteen years and such.

Ive got a lot of ideas and like genuine plot for the octonauts in general so I'll have to make a list and post em one by one.

Basic timeline for kwazii though (Im explaining how pirates work in this universe on another post) so kwaziis born into a pirate clan and well his grandad was the captain and all that jazz. He's raised with em and gets the Pirate Education of reading, math, navigation, Pirate Battle Tactics, Pirate Politics, how to bribe sea life, how to stab and no be stabbed, steering boats, water currents and maps, How To Survive If ShipWrecked, and etc.

All cool, all silly pirate times for our ADHD kitty, around age 10 is when calico jack left in my timeline, (also y'all I'm just now getting to watching above and beyond so if I mess stuff up gimme some grace please :'> ), and they expected the guy to come back a year or two after satisfying the treasure itch but he just... didn't.

3 or so years later, some drama happens in the crew happens and eventually kwazii ends up going solo at the age of 13, (he wants to get treasure and adventure just like his grandad,maybe even find him!) its pretty rough at first and the most social interaction he gets is sea life or just people at ports he visits lol. He does successfully hunt out treasure (and bully unethical fishermen, he and the dolphin pod are still great friends) and etc. He even found an abandoned lighthouse on an island (weird, but hey! free pirate hideout) and he was just living like that till he ended up meeting none other than captain barnacles!

The thing is the octonauts were like like getting a crew together at all, and the only one that was really there (other than tweak and the prof) was shellington and well. Needless to say they're understaffed lmso.

So barnacles has been chasing this dolphin pod, well he tried to nicely ask if he could tag some of em for scientific purposes but well, they thought it was a game and now they're convinced they're playing tag. Of course the captain still isn't experienced in Being An Octonaut, and well gup A might end up getting wrecked by some rocks he crashes into. And then he's just stranded on the rocks above the waves and oh wow did you know that the land above the water is even hotter than the water?

Anyways he's just melting and questioning his life choices because, like what's he supposed to do wait for tweak to pedal to him on the gup f 😫🙏like be for real man that must've suuuuccked

anyways he just sees this tiny boat with this even tinier guy on it??? sailing to him???

(sorry if they sound outta character lol)

"Oh... H-HhhIiiii"

"Y'know them phins told me some big furry thing crashed but I didn't expect it to be- You alright big fella?"

"mM nO I think.. YeAhp, Im ALL GO ooOD."

"Ive got shade and water?"

"Awh man ya don't even got a wallet on ya, oh well."

At this point barnacles is just doubly wondering what his life is, because either he's still under the effects of overheating or this guy has said "me clipper" in reference to his boat 3 times already. He was actually very grateful but honestly was this guy even real???

"I... don't think so?"

"M yeah yeah, so what's a walkin Nothern whale even doin out here?"

Was that an insult or- No he seems far too friendly- If a bit rough, maybe scraggly looking-

After a very lengthy, educated explanation of his goal and dreams of the octonauts and all they would accomplish- He'd realized the cat had been stared at him with the biggest blankest eyes he'd ever seen-

And then in a second they snapped to clarity-

"OHHHHHHHH- so yer like, some sorta ah, sciency type... a nerd ha! Well alright that's nice for ya"

The ginger cat didn't even have an ounce of mocking in his tone either- He was really just stating a fact. He really hoped he seemed like a strong dependable nerd at least. ᴹᵃʸᵇᵉ ᵉᵛᵉⁿ ᵃ ˡᶦᵗᵗˡᵉ ʰᵉʳᵒᶦᶜ⁻

They'd bid farewell. A stranger helped a stranger and that was the end.

Or it wouldve been until he'd been struggling to find some little sea creatures in a reef and he'd just so happened to come across a certain cocky cat. Of course, the guy was happy to help, he was friends with the little critters after all!

Silly fun little coincidence and wow kwazii sure is decently good with this haha well good bye (again)-

They meet again and this time Kwaziis boat has been absolutely wrecked. And wow captain you're not really gonna wreck a poor pirates boat (one who helped ya plenty) to just suffer when your whole motto is explore RESCUE protect are ya?

So until Kwazii could get to his safe spot, (an abandoned lighthouse he turned into his own 'secret pirate base') to repair the thing, he was... kinda just stuck in the octopod.

And well- He was grateful, and very very curious, being cat and all that.

He'd never dove so deep into the water before! And he certainly hadn't ever seen such cute curious creatures as the (admittedly very young at the time) vegimals, and well of course he'd help Tweak try out the new speedy gup she was makin, anythin to help around-

By the time they get there well.... Barnacles has realized that Kwazii is well, Kwazii is kind of the exact person he'd been struggling to find.

Quick to learn, quicker to act, understood navigation and sea currents, gifted at diving, capable of steering subs well, crafty when dealing with the unique challenges of dealing with sea life and-

Well, he was also possibly a very good and kind friend. A strange one, but well, a very very good one.

They were about to say good bye, but well, the captain lamented on how he hoped kwazii would have good luck with treasure hunting, and he well maybe he kinda hoped he'd find someone at least half as good as him to help.

And well, who said he couldn't be a pirate AND an octonaut? Since the captain, you know, really needed the help- BESIDES, he probably had a way better of finding treasure when going UNDER the water- AND WELL, what pirate could say no to adventure and-

And kwazii was not a legally recognized citizen of any country so he couldn't legally become an octonaut.

Getting legal documentation for a lone pirate cat he'd met in the middle of the ocean wasn't on the captains bingo card. At least he... sort of knew what taxes were....

"Well what's your place of birth at least?!"

"Uhhh I dunno, a boat?"

"Okay- But, But w he r e ?"

"The ocean, matie???"

"In what waters though? Like- Like near what country???"

"... I dunno just like, the middle 'o it?"

"Kwazii I cant put "the middle of the ocean" as your place of birth!"

"Why not? its true-"

A very fun process for everyone that didn't include long wait times or long explanations of why on earth aren't you legal anywhere- or even shorter "explanations" of thats what makes a mysterious pirate past mysterious me heartie

rat brainrot going hard

sorry for not posting this week, i was cooking some stuff but this drawing took almost the entire week to do, worst part, it was a shitpost

i still dont know why this took me so much

so uh, almost all my drawings this week have been related to this two(and lis) so much so that i struggled because i wanted to draw other things so i would just stare at a blank sheet of paper for over half an hour, god that was torture, tho i dont mind drawing the sillies, sometimes it gets a bit boring drawing the same over and over y'know? im also going to take this as an opportunity to ramble about my forgo gijinka, because surprisingly i hadnt done that yet.

ok now to actually talk about the wet rat

ive tried doing a gijinka of em since i joined the fandom (my first gijinka was fecto elfilis (well not really they were fnaf, but i mean when i got into kirby and when i started using the term gijinka))

but most of the time it just looked like elfilin but like...evil, with a different ear and a hospital gown, thats it, so i barely drew them since i didnt like that, but on february, i actually sketched an idea that i liked, and thought it looked cute but a bit off (i mean off in a good way)

(yes im posting this image again because i think its the best drawing of my forgo (im very inconsistent with my style ok))

they have their eyes closed most of time, like in game, i considered giving them legs but i ended up with the tail, since i didnt want to end up with like a fourth evil elfilin, the arms are like that so i can have em be small and weird like in the actual game, but i also made it so they can like change it, that way i can make em have hands and stuff if necessary (like to hold that frying pan for example)

not sure if a lot of you notice it but um, bro has no neck, i took away his neck privileges, i did it just to see but i ended up falling in love with that and stuck around, and also that allows me to draw them bending their head like in the drawing above because their neck isnt necking and i like that, i like being able to draw characters doing stuff that shouldnt be anatomically possible or is abnormal (i did something a bit similar with void) thair clothes are rugged because well forgotten land you know what i mean, but in general theyre actually pretty simple

i also did the drawing in digital

i tried doing very sketchy lineart, i tried a new brush in this one and thats the one im using for my last drawings (not sure if anyone noticed the brush change) it was pain painting it because i did it all with the brush in the same size, not changing it, god did my hands hurt and it was a bad idea

i accidentaly downloaded the following 3 drawings twice lol

i think they would wear something like this to sleep, i dunno i just wanted to draw em in something cute, and sleepy, with elfilin slippers (the mug also has elfilin btw) oh and also i like changing their hair, here one of their long bangs is tied into a bow, kinda like callie from splatoon, i have some drawing im probably wont post, one more of forgo wich looks very much like the upper one but like eyes closed, and one of fecto elfilis gyaru because my sister asked me to draw them like that, bad thing is i didnt look up references on gyaru since i couldnt use my phone at the moment, i did like the hair i did for them in that one tho, they have their bangs tied up in a bun, and then left the rest loose, making it look longer than it actually is. i might redraw it, but actually looking up gyaru so i can make something more accurate, i like the style, but im not too informed on it

based on the kirby manga, where they make it so elfilis sings really bad, at first i didnt like it that much since i had imagined they'd sign great, but after i while i started to find it a bit cute so now its a headcanon, they like to sing but suck at it.

writing this just made me remember i wanted to do another drawing too for this with kirby and them singing, but i forgot to do it, im kinda tired (and its late) ill probably draw it, but for next post or another one

tried drawing fecto forgo as a plushie, silly.

i wanna learn how to sew so i can make plushies of characters (like prince fluf!) but im way too lazy, i will get around it some day! (hopefully)

i also wanna learn to sculpt, i tried doing a clay kirby once, but one his feet broke in half, and one day my mom put it in a box, and his eyes fell off and stuck to the box :(

i really wanna do figures for characters i like or dont have enough merch or my ocs (prince fluff, flamberge, fecto elfilis)

but as i said, im way too lazy and unmotivated, though its be nice, one day, maybe one day if i stop procrastinating

it doesnt have the same ring to it as "feto rata mojada alien" wich is how my sister and i call them (she doesnt know that much about kirby, but i sometimes show her my drawings (reluctantly sometimes, but im the older so like >:) she has too if she wants to show me her stuff too))

i think these are from tuesday. i did more but those were oc (mostly splatoon) or other kirby character related, and i want this to be a rat post (might post those tommorow or another day maybe)

i dunno (x2), i tried drawing elfilin like elfilis, i really liked the hands here. i still struggle a bit with anatomy but i think this was quite good for my usual character just stading looking at the front or a quarter profile. im considering making this into a fully digital drawing, what do i say by considering im actually doing that fuck it, i just think it looks kinda cool

Chaos Elfilis reminds me of a moth. kirby's hope is a bright light.

you can see my thought process. i just thought itd be a bit cute and kinda silly and funny.

the kirby fandom wiki, said that chaos elfilis looked akin to a moth, and it just stuck with me, so i wanted my gijinka of them to be moth inspired, and thats when i saw just how cute moths are! i mean im still a bit scared of insects but at least now i kinda like em.

i feel like i need to say sorry to that one moth i desintegrated in a matter of seconds with a book because i thought it was an spider and didnt think (im so sorry little guy)

but ah yeah elfilis, moth, it made sense to me since chaos elfilis has the soul of morpho knight, who is a butterfly, and moths are kinda like butterflies too. and i thought itd be cute

so uh yeah i sometimes like making my chaos elfilis be a bit like a moth, that includes liking light, a lot, so uh kirby is like a lamp in here because i said so

now to talk about the desing since for some reason i hadnt earlier, as i said before, they are very moth inpired so uh im might say that word way too many times (im sorry i suck at explaining stuff)

their horns are thinner to resemble moth anntenae, and they curve just because i thought it look cool, and to differentiate it a bit from fecto elfilis. their bangs tie into a bun (i forgot to draw that but i dont wanna go and change it now, way too tiredv man and i still have to post this on other places) the bun looks a bit like an eye, because well, they are basically a soul boss, and moths have things in their wings that look like eyes, btw chaos elfilis doesnt have their wings here because i got lazy and i didnt want them to like cover most of the drawing. the things coming from their bun are like the trhee things theyve got in their head, theyre shaped like that to resemble insects legs a bit, fecto elfilis also had the 3 things (i dunno how to call em sorry) as their eyelashes, but chaos elfilis has just white eyelashes, because the bun already has the 3 things and because my morpho has white eyelashes so (i still havent done my morpho gijinka yet, i just know im gonna give the butterfly some white eyelashes cuz cute and pretty grimm reaper) the rest of the hair is shaped into like a ponytail but like, adn shaped, with whats left shaped like a lil moth

the waistband they have is a nod to morpho, they used to have a bow shaped just like the butterfly morpho appears as, but i took it out because i thought it crowded the design way too much, and also because it was too on the nose. the arms have those golden things because my fecto has it and because my og chaos elfilis gijinka had them so i wanted to bring it back, the hand fades into white because the red in the hand wasnt hard to distinguish so i came up with that to make it easier to see.

the red part of the pants are actually a bit fuzzy akin to a moth and the white part has those stripes to loke like insect stuff because y'know akin to a moth. the boots are like the red part in their legs their model in-game has, so i just made em tall boots, the high heels? originally it was platform just ike my fecto but then i wanted to draw them in high heels when i was slightly redoing chaos elfilis, and welp, i loved it and now theyve got high heels. those rings around the ankle are inspired by the ones leaongar has around their arm. also can you tell anatomy is not my strong suit? and that i dont draw high heels often?

i made a slight change in my kirby, making the sleeves be a different color, since the one he had before i felt was way too white, and i wanted to have more saturation in it

i also forgot but elfilin is supposed to wear that during forgotten land, and then i decided that after the anding of the main story he changes clothes, but i forgot about that while doing this so he has his pre-ending clothes (also because i still cant really decide on their second outfit for the post-game)

god im so tired i wanna talk and show more drawings but o shit im sweating why is it so hot in here

Anyway! First of all OMG Ivor X Romeo sounds interesting, since there are actually a lot of tropes with we can go with:

1. S1 Ivor before the c. block mess with Romeo flying around, trying to convince him to create the beast, because why else would he give someone such strong object if not for chaos? -> leading to Romeo slowly falling into Ivor's grumpy behavior, while Ivor gets used to Romeo's annoying presence.

2. S1 Ivor before the c. block mess with Romeo flying around, trying to get the c. block because dumb mortals can't have something that gave him his powers, however he's unable to take it from Ivor as long as Ivor holds it, so instead he tries to pretend to be good and stuff which leads to him falling into Ivor's grumpy behavior and slowly act more like himself, meanwhile Ivor doesn't fall for Romeo's lies, but actually falls for his true self.

Those are tropes where Ivor is a bitch and actually grounds Romeo's ego, the God is confused but likes it.

Remus doesn’t know what in the fuck made Pat-Pat so upset, but they’re determined to make his frown disappear. 

Aside from the fact that he’s Patton, and no one gets to fuck with Patton, Remus cares about him. ‘Remus?’, you may gasp, ‘Caring about the one Side who’s disgusted by everything they are?’ Yeah, yeah, fuck off, you don’t know shit. They all greatly exaggerate their reactions and parts of themselves for the videos to make them entertaining. So, yes, Patton was never as disturbed as you’ve probably seen on camera, but he also wasn’t too far off from wanting to push Remus’ ideas out of the forefront. They’ve worked on it. Patton’s worked on seeing that Remus is more than gore and innuendos and Unwanted Thoughts, and Remus got a taste of what it’s like to feel so much all the time with very little outlet to express it. It’s...turns out they have more in common than anyone would’ve guessed. Remus understands what it’s like to have a severe lack of a healthy outlet to be messy and express things without ridicule; Patton understands a little too well what it’s like to be viewed as nothing more than a punchline dummy and have your contributions dismissed as either unrealistic or Bad. They’ve...they’ve got their own shit. It’s nice knowing that now there’s supportive words and gentle touches where there used to be borderline hostility and fear. 

Remus digresses. 

Pat-Attack’s not doing so well today. There are grey eyes where there’s usually bright blue. A smile becomes painted. Cheery words sound forced and hard to say. Something’s fucked with him, and—as was mentioned—that’s not allowed to happen. Remus would love for whatever made Pat-Pat upset to meet its stupid face with their morning star; however, taking care of the sad little cub is far more important. So. Setting down their morning star and snapping into soft, comfy things, Remus slides open a special drawer in their craft desk. It’s filled to brim with ideas: the different kinds of soft fabrics, lists of things needed to make plushies or blankets or funky fidgets, sketches of homebrewed heating devices or coding for video games or little notes of praise when someone’s feeling too low to believe it from another’s mouth. It’s their comfort-projects drawer, a special thing they and Roman started doing long before they even realized they both did it. Okay, look, it’s a little embarrassing, but…well, it’s one of the first things they bonded over when they finally got to talk again outside of cameras or meetings with Thommy Salami. 

Remus, sappy? No, they’ve no idea what the fuck you’re talking about. Maybe they care. That doesn’t make them sappy, they have a reputation, afterall. 

Shut up.

Remus sifts through the papers and sketches and fabric samples, brows furrowed in concentration as they search for what they need. Pattie’s always been a big softy, everyone knows that. He’s the one with open arms for hugs, baking cookies or cooking breakfast in the kitchen, checking in on even the stubborn ones—Logan and Virgil and literally all of them—making sure they’re doing okay or if they need help. He’s even—okay, so, Pat-Pat’s not always known what help actually helps some of ‘em, but he’s learned and still learning and making good effort, and, well...he’s a lot better than he used to be. Patton helps them and supports where he can because he cares, so much, about everyone, even those who he doesn’t quite understand.

Patton cares for everyone, but who cares for Patton?

They all do, is the correct fucking answer, but it isn’t always obvious because brains will be mean and sometimes people don’t know how to communicate that well. Which is okay, both of it, brains will be mean and people will be confusing, that’s okay. Just untangling all those knots and ties and shit of whatever was lost in translation is hard fucking work. It’s not easy. Caring is effort. Maintaining relationships takes effort and work. 

Remus knows one way to be obvious about caring for Patton. 

Besides shouting ‘I care about you, you fucking dork!’ and bluntly stating so, because that can be hard and saying you care for someone isn’t always easy because your brain doesn’t make it easy with its mixed signals to your speech box thing. 

It’s called a ‘larynx’, Remus, they can almost hear Logan correcting them. 

Whatever, Lolo. 

Remus makes a triumphant noise when they pull out a sketch for a plushie design, along with a small reference photo. Its pattern needs some blues, oranges, browns, silvers…a lot of colours. It’s for Patton, it’s going to be colourful. Pat-Pat likes colourful things. And soft things. And plushies, especially those. They look through their drawer again, digging to find the soft and fluffy fabric samples. They’ll need to borrow some of that pixie shit from Roman’s Faery Forest. Not the dust, no, who the fuck do you think they are? They need some of a pixie’s wing sheddings. What do you mean, pixies don’t shed their wings? You don’t know shit, clearly, because how else do they keep their wings nice and shimmery and flimsy like that? Fucking amateur. 

Remus goes about getting enough fabric, pulling out their sewing kit and the fluffier stuffing to fill the plushie with. Ooh, what colour should they make the eyes? They’ve gotta be real eyes, move around and shit, otherwise it’d just be a plain thing. Remus doesn’t make boring creations. Especially not for Patton, no, that wouldn’t do. It’s gotta be fun and keep his laughter singing throughout the Mindscape. 

Where’s the proper needle for…oh! Here it went, stupid little needle. Trying to escape, are we?

As Remus begins going through the motions of sewing fabric together, careful not to prick themself—this time—they lapse into thought. Pattie likes to cuddle his plushies. They’ve caught him squeezing the inanimate frogs or bears or copies of the Sides when nights are hard and words are harder. When he’s hiding away in his room, trying so hard not to push away the scary feelings, but it all just comes bubbling up out of him in waves and waterfalls and snotty little babbles. He doesn’t think anyone knows, but Remus does, and Janus does—because he’s a sneaky bastard—and it...Patton tries, so much, so hard, to be who they need him to be when shit gets tough and morals turn out to be in various shades of grey. It’s not like unlearning bad habits is easy. They’ve all got shit to unlearn. They all try their damn hardest at being better and being patient. It’s getting better. But healing isn’t linear, nor is unlearning unhealthy habits, and so there will be days where the lure of what used to happen snatches one of ‘em up and drags them down down down into something akin to misery. There’s days where an angry shouting of ‘I don’t want to heal right now, I don’t want to, shut up, shut up, shut the fuck up!’ echoes in their minds. That’s okay, sometimes healing means not wanting to heal, and that’s okay. 

None of Pat-Attack’s plushies can hug him back. 

Remus seeks to remedy that.

Patton’s laying on his bed, curling around a greenish teddy bear with a mustache on it. He hugs it tight to his chest as hitching breaths force themselves out of him. His glasses press unkindly against his face as he smushes his nose into the belly of the teddy. 

A slow, eerie knock on his door catches his attention as his head turns sharply towards it. 

Swallowing around a lump in his throat, he waves his hand vaguely towards the door. It clicks as it opens, revealing a Duke wearing soft things. A hand hides behind their back. Patton peeks at them as they come in, bundled in his blankets. Something worrying makes him pause as he glances at Remus. They don’t usually knock on the door, nor do they come in quietly, hiding something, in soft things. So, yes, Patton’s a little worried. 

Are they okay? Did something happen? Is their brain being mean to them again? Patton tries his hardest to put on a smile, but it’s hardly a tug at his lips. 

“Ya don’t hafta do that, Pat-Pat,” Remus says before they plop down on the bed.

Patton’s smile stutters for a moment, “I, um...are you doing okay, Remus?”

“‘M fine, Pat-Attack. What’s up with you, huh? Looking a bit grey an’ shit.” 

It shows when Patton doesn’t even chide them teasingly for swearing. His smile stays stubborn. His face starts to ache uncomfortably from it. 

“Oh, I’m okay! Just cuddling my bear, no need to be worried, kiddo,” the cheery voice is so fake and forced that it makes the room flicker in small flashes of yellow like lightning from the wall-clouds. 

“Really? Then why’s your walls all silvery?”

This gives Patton pause, the smile dropping the tiniest bit as he blinks. His walls hold photographs and cork boards full of memories from when everyone was younger. Normally, the walls themselves would be bright blue with clouds moving across them like it’s the actual sky. Now, the walls are silvery instead of bright, and the clouds are storming with rain that drips down into the carpet. 

“C’mon, Pat-Pat,” Remus encourages. 

Patton huffs as his smile falls. He grips his teddy bear in his arms as he leans his back against his headboard. Remus makes a soft noise at the sniffling as Patton refuses to let the tears brimming in his eyes fall. 

“Hey, hey, what’s goin’ on? Brain being mean?” Remus asks, not unkindly, hiding something from Patton’s view. 

Patton sighs, mumbling, “I don’t know. Today’s just…it’s stupid—”

“It’s not stupid if it’s upsetting ya.”

“...It’s nothing.”

“Pat.”

“No—no, I mean there isn’t a thing bothering me! I just feel bad for no reason.”

Remus nods in sympathy, gently knocking their shoulder against Patton’s. Patton hums, absentmindedly rubbing his face against the teddy. Remus notices the mustache it has and can’t help it as something soft in them melts a little. They carefully take Patton’s glasses off when they see it pressing harshly against his face, frowning when they notice the reddish indents on the bridge of his nose. The moral Side still refuses to let his tears fall. 

“Ay, you can cry, Pat-Attack. Isn’t that you tell Lolo and Jannie when their brains are being stubborn?” they sneak what they’re holding onto their lap as they sit up fully, but Patton doesn’t seem to notice. 

“Y-yeah, but they have a reason. I don’t—I’m not—”

“Ay, nuh-uh, ya don’t need a reason, Pattie. C’mon, let it out, m’kay?”

“It’s hard.”

“I know, Pat-Pat, I know.”

Something blue and pretty flutters in Remus’ lap, and it catches Patton’s eye. He glances down to see a soft-looking plushie, its wings bright and colourful. It’s a butterfly, alive, and fluttering around in the Duke’s lap. He gasps lightly, momentarily forgetting his tears. 

“Is…is that…” Patton trails off as he looks back up at Remus. 

Remus smiles, “I made it for ya.”

The butterfly plushie flutters and flies over to Patton, sitting on his head. To him, it’s a little blurry due to the lack of glasses on his face, but it gets blurrier for an entirely different reason. 

“Oh, hey,” Remus’ voice dips into soothing, though naturally scratchy. “There ya go, little cub, just like that.”

Patton sniffles as he finally cries, breath stuttering slightly. He holds his teddy bear with one hand as he extends the free one towards Remus. The Duke glady scoops their companion up into their lap, bundled in blankets, holding a bear and becoming a perch for an affectionate butterfly. 

“It’s—it’s for me? Really?” Patton asks wetly. 

“Yeah, little cub. It’s for you,” Remus murmurs into his hair as they ease Patton into resting his cold nose in the crook of their neck. 

“Alive?”

“It’s gotta hug ya, somehow.”

“Hug—wait, what?”

“Yeah, hug ya. Wings get big and they hug you.”

As if waiting for a cue, the little butterfly’s wings enlarge to be big enough to wrap around Patton. It flutters and lands on the moral Side’s back, engulfing as much of him as it can with its wings. Soft and warm and slightly weighted to feel real. Patton lets slip a sob that Remus coos comfortingly at. 

“It’s good, R’mus, it’s—it’s—” Patton stumbles through words as he sniffles again. 

“I got it, cub, I know. Now, ya got another buddy to help ya not feel so sad, hm?” 

“Thank you.”

“Anytime, Pat-Pat. Anytime.”

Patton buries himself into Remus’ chest, breathing calmer with the butterfly hugging him. It’s like getting cuddled on both fronts, a reassuring weight that grounds him. 

It takes a few minutes before Patton stops crying, and even longer for him to sag against the Duke. 

“What’s, um...does it have a name?” he mumbles with heavy eyes. 

“Nah, ya name it. Couldn’t think of one,” Remus answers, resting a rest against Patton’s hair. 

“Mm…really? You didn’t think of anything?”

“Nope! Wanted you to have fun with it.”

“Oh…um, hm. Maybe Melissa? I like that name.”

“It’s a good name. Melissa the butterfly, it shall be known.”

Patton giggles at Remus’ dramatics. 

“It’s nice.”

“Yeah, I bet, Pattie.”

“Mm.”

“Just make sure Melissa doesn’t get water on it. It doesn’t like it, and it’ll spit acid at someone.”

“Remus!”

“What?”

Patton pouts as Remus snorts, but he can’t keep the pout on because the next moment, he chuckles. 

“Thanks for cheering me up, Remus.”

“Eh, someone’s gotta care for ya, yeah? We all do, but I called dibs.”

It makes Patton smile as Melissa gurgles a noise of contentment. 

“Why does it make that noise?”

“Haha, what noise—”

“Remus—”At the very least, Patton’s feeling better with his new plushie buddy, even if it does make weird noises.

(irl) originally, aphrodite was derived from a love goddess that had elements of also being a war goddess (ishtar) but was eventually sanitized to be only a love/beauty goddess, then the romans readded her war elements bc the romans be roming.

i really like the association of doves/venus/war/love a lot so i wanted to add to conquest's character.... he just feel obligated to be the protector of everyone when all he wants to do is shower them with affection (THE HORSEMEN DESERVE THE WORLD!!! they only ever get the material goods and very rarely the emotional spoils)

PROJECT MARYTR!!! RAHHH I CHEERED yeah i have some facts that were on the backburner

there were 2 diff divisions in project martyr, the weapons division and soul division

weapons division: managed by reficul, despite the name they were the one mainly testing everything and running experiments while the soul division figured out more technical aspects of projmar.

members: chemosh, samyaza, tamiel michael.

soul division: managed by abaddon currently, genesis being the former manager. they're programmers and weapon designers.

members: gadriel, beezlebub, azazel.

reficul and genesis had a kid together. kid's dead now but their name was elysian.

reficul is actually pretty materialistic, they cherish the luxuries like makeup and jewelry they have and take great pride in their own appearance, even though they sometimes act holier than thou about morality and killing people

peneume has like zero hobbies except for pen collecting/calligraphy and they take great pride in their handwriting

kesabel is a priest that thought they were just preaching to an office (no they were brought in to become an experiment. lmfao)

one of the funniest/worst things reficul did was confessing their sins to kesabel so much that kesabel killed themselves because of refi (technically spoilers but its nothing too major)

gadriel has a workplace crush on aishire. somehow

chemosh experiences hallucinations that eventually got worse as project martyr continued and still continue in the killing game

beezlebub and azazel during the killing game initially spent all their allowance on gambling. beezlebub kept winning while azazel kept losing.

eventually beezlebub won the casino and tried helping out azazel before erm. something bad happened :333

azazel has pretty bad spending issues and really does just spiral whenever they're alone even though its when they're most like themselves

samyaza is a prolific harp player that uses their weapon as both a bow and a instrument

tamiel is a astronomy nerd, they like going to the beach and looking at the sky

arakiel shares a lot of michael's tendencies (mainly not taking care of themselves, holding themselves to high expectations, and bedrotting) but still believe moloch resembles them more

moloch also does the bedrotting and high expectations but it derives more from depression rather than remembering all the abuse michael experienced

bezaliel's final words were about aishire. both times.

9/24/24 - State of the Horsem Address

Hello! I hope you're all well. I figure it's best to say something about the radio silence.

I won't be shutting down THR for good any time soon. Things will certainly change, though. I'm considering (really, more like 95% sure of) making this a more general "daily" blog of sketches and musings. Fully-fledged artworks, comics and some small animations too. Asks will still be open ofc and I'll follow up with interaction n whatnot but for now any story is being put on the back burner as I redistribute that energy to other projects, both fandom related and personal. I'll try to keep a more stable presence rather than bursts of activity, though I can't promise this blog will be without some lulls either. I may just make a post spoiling / explaining all that was planned story wise but my lil prequel to this blog is still something I'd like to make - maybe a pic maybe an animation or comic. So that's up to whether I can keep being patient or not.

My general plan is to refurbish the blog (maybe a new theme but otherwise just editing + adding pages and changing up the background and icons) and then queue up some art and other little posts with a more official "welcome back". That and new refs for Pest, Death and Connie as well as some lil concept sheets for HH and other honorary/extracanon/mod horsems as they all kinda-sorta exist in this universe. Well, Pollution and Meltdown probably do! But I want to see Deluge and Propaganda if/when we get em to feel out the group dynamic. But ig i've retconned shit before, not too much harm in doing it again.

This is my little pet project on-and-off for uh, the next few ish months? Routine posting shall resume in October, ideally.

I'd also like to introduce the "horsem archives" tag - from here on out I'll be using this to archive some of my oldest horseman art pieces, many from when I was a bit too young to even know about this game. Anything pre-blog will go here.

Thank you all for sticking around, it really does mean a lot. This has honestly been my first big venture into a long-ish term story and project. Now it's more of a playground/training room for my current passion projects but this has really helped me think about a lot of narrative aspects, not to mention everyone I've met through this, even though I don't talk much I really appreciate y'all. Hey, thanks for taking me submission. I guess it’s not really an ask other than please share your thoughts too! Just have to get something off my chest.

There have been a lot of comments on YT, Reddit and Twitter about Damien not being in as much content and not being listed as Games Producer for the last three videos.

First one is honestly to be expected as he was sick. Second one is interesting. I follow his streams and sometimes watch when he guests on Podcasts. He’s been saying he’ll have more time to stream, he has some major projects coming up and he’s going to create his own content on his own channel.

Some of the community thinks Smosh demoted him because he actually posted about the current events over in Israel/Palestine but I personally think he just wasn’t able to fulfill the role of producer the way he wanted. (Perfectionist - something I find Angela has in common with him.)

Anyway, all this to say, I think Damien is stepping back from Smosh a little. I am hoping it doesn’t mean a reduction of content that he’s in but you never know. I think being responsible for coming up with content in addition to appearing as talent is really hard on his time and he’s reached a limit.

The funeral was a big example of this. To appear in the funeral wasn’t just showing up; many livestreams mentioned rehearsal after rehearsal and attending several writing meetings. I just don’t think he had time.

While I think the halftime show of the funeral with Chanse and Angela was awesome, Damien could have come in and support it or I was thinking he could have showed up as backup for Anthony with his vampire cosplay. It would have been great but I get why he didn’t do it.

I've been seeing people talk about Damien not being listed as producer last 3 vids, I've also been hearing whispers of Damien doing more streaming and videos on his own YouTube channel.

I don't think he'll fully leave Smosh anytime soon, maybe he's going to be strictly talent from now on (like how Angela and others are "just" talent, she doesn't produce or direct just shows up to do shoots) I hope he'll do that if anything.

I saw a clip of him from his stream the other day and someone was asking why he wasn't in the funeral roast and he said he was in the audience (not sure if that meant physical on set audience or online audience) watching! I wont lie, also was wanting him to show up in it though :(

I think it'd be great to have Damien as mainly talent! recently he seems more chill so if that because he's taken a step back then I'm all for it! Maybe it'll be like the inverse of what Kimmy did, instead of being talent she became a producer, and maybe he'll become just talent? as long as he stays at Smosh ill be happy :)

Quite honestly I feel like hiring more strictly producers is really good for Smosh and the people on the cast, they say their shoot week is SUPER draining so if its better and healthier for them that's great! Plus having someone solely dedicated to finding and sourcing games for them to play, we'll probably get better content! (something about overworking and echo chambers makes for stale content something something) my point is if they're happy and healthy I'm happy :)
