Trigun Stampede Finale - Episode 12 Thoughts from Pom

0) Knives likes cowboys. His gap moe just keeps getting better. What a dork? I love him?

1) Meryl’s character growth has been super fulfilling to watch. I love how she stopped Knives’ plan to kill everyone by taking those steps to reach Vash. She did something so dangerous, risking an agonizing death at Millions Knives’ hands to save everyone, instead of freezing in terror like a lot of people would have done in that situation! I respect her SO MUCH.

2) Knives’ roar of outrage when he tries to kill Meryl. It really is always a brunette getting between him and Vash isn’t it? Junya Ikeda acted his heart out and it was amazing to hear how incensed Knives was while also hearing the panic of losing Vash in his voice too. I feared for Meryl as much as I felt heartbroken for Knives.

3) That scene with Vash awakening to save Meryl was some good food. Actually shivered when he thanked her as he stepped back into the fray to face Knives. The sound design, animation and voice acting of this show is perfectly crafted to give you a rattling experience.

4) I am a Stampede undercut Vash appreciator, but I love Vash’s new look in this episode. The reveal when it finally settles into that shape is once again a testament to the love poured into this show. His antennae are prominent, his forehead is cute, and I’m overjoyed that this iconic look could be given to him without sacrificing his undercut. It’s aesthetically pleasing. I hope that they keep this look for Vash.

5) Knives is beautiful. What right did Orange have giving Knives the prettiest face on this show?

6) Vash’s wing is monstrous to behold. The exact moment when it unfurls during his fall from the tower is HAUNTING ME.

7) The way the flying fight scene perspective makes you feel Vash’s gunshots as if he’s shooting AT YOU when he’s shooting at Nai. Ow. Sexy but ow.

8) Nico picking up Meryl and booking it will live rent free in my head forever too. Take her and run. Pocket wife. Zoom.

9) Unhinged freak thoughts incoming! I thought I was scared of Vash’s forehead but I was actually just scared of the nape of his neck being stiff with hair gel. I have a thing about the back of the neck. It’s gotta be bare so it can be stroked with light malice and gripped with violent force. Vash’s forehead is for kissing and smacking and flicking things at (Everything I want Nico and Meryl to do). Vash’s NAPE is for sucking biting & pinching (Everything I want Knives to do). It’s good Vash’s underside is shaved because the back of his buzzed neck is ero, and because the bottom half of his skull is slightly bristly, a superior texture. If Knives wants to grab him by the neck he can feel the warmth of Vash’s skin and pulse under his palm. If he wants to hold Vash by his hair he can grab a fistful from the top of his head. It’s perfect for my deranged imagination.

10) Kisses Vash’s forehead. Kisses it so much.

11) Vash bit Knives’ hand like an incensed dog and looked adorable doing it.

12) Millions “Hysterically appalled by my Eve’s savior complex” Knives

13) I was on Knives’ side when he said, in breathless horror, “After more than a century, that’s the best answer you could come up with?!” Seriously, Vash, that was such a lackluster response! I don’t care if you got shot fifteen times by the JuLai police, when you fly into the stratosphere with your brother who is in love with you you have a serious heart to heart with him! Jerk! /kidding

14) Knives finally realizing Vash is lost to him forever in that scene haunts me. He’s devastated. I picked the right antagonist to stan. This hurts so much.

15) Knives being the powerless one, having Vash wrenched away from him again and again, even though he promises to keep fighting for him is what gets me. Stampede is relentless about confronting you, the audience, with the fact that Knives is an EXTREMELY romantic character. Knives is SO WEIRD— he has these violent murderous methods, and yet he also represents this ideal paradigm of undying love. He’s not just a yandere. His heart was BROKEN this ep. He was squashed. The irony that the guy who hates all of humanity experiences so much humanity is buckwild. Knives is a romantic character even if some audiences find it repellant to ship him with Vash. His love for Vash is as unhesitant as it is unhealthy, to dramatic effect. The more Knives and Vash push against each other’s ideals, the tighter those ideals coil.

16) Those were the most beautiful dying words I’ve ever heard, thanks Knives I’m sobbing. You still do everything for that impossible “Us,” even after everything. Even after Vash has chosen humans over you every time. I love this sad lovesick plant.

17) Knives always keeps his promises to Vash. No, I haven’t read Trimax yet, but I know we haven’t seen the last of him.

18) The way Vash screams “Nai!” and sobbing Nai’s name while falling back to Earth can become my new ring tone! Congratulations to Yoshitsugu Matsuoka for bringing such a heartwrenching performance to Trigun Stampede Vash. ;-; </3 I love hearing his uniquely soft voice.

19) Stampede Eriks my beloved. Brokenly playing piano because it’s his last connection to Nai. He thinks he’s killed Nai and all the plants in addition to destroying JuLai. My depressed, remorseful baby oh my god.

Extra Thoughts!

21) Honestly, I feel relieved that Season 2 is a ways off in the future. It gives me time to thoroughly enjoy the massive amount of beautiful fanart and fanfic that’s been created. I was kind of just shoving it all in my mouth before and I want to savor it with a calmer frame of mind.

22) From my perspective as a fan creator who also makes original comics the pause period gives me a sense of breathing room to digest what I felt from this show and make the best possible fan creations about it. All my fanart so far has been made in a rush of passion. That’s fun and exciting, but without reflection, it lacks focus. I look forward to reading Trimax and fully learning all of the story. Also looking forward to do solo and collaborative zines, among other future Trigun fan projects!

23) I’ll admit that Stampede was my introduction to becoming a fan of Trigun, and yet, I feel safe and understood by Studio Orange’s retelling in a way I can’t articulate or justify. “They Get It” has no business coming from my mouth, but it is the way I feel, for some reason. How did they do that? It must be magic. Thank you Orange! Because of Stampede, I fell in love with all of Trigun. Met some really cool people, too. ;-; A

Well, this is gonna be fun. 👀 Sorry that this'll probably be long!

Servants that I enjoy having:

Scheherazade

I know that not a lot of people like her for one reason or another, but I'm glad that I was able to get her. While her NP can truly be the most effective against a select few enemies, it can still hit everyone on the opposing side, and she's a better unit after getting her upgrades. And while her debut (writing wise) was... less than stellar, she does get better later on (ex: her relationship with Nitocris). Looking forward to Ooku and going through her interlude.

Martha (Rider)

One of the few non-Casters that is a healer. Simple, but still good. I personally like how she tries to keep a calm, saintly image when there are a couple of times where she's down to throw hands (it's also implied in her second interlude that she sometimes struggles with being a saint, since she got angry at seeing damned souls not being able to pass on after J-boy's sacrifice, and she feels ashamed that she got angry in that situation).

Cú Chulainn (og)

Simple kit, but it works very well. Even though he'll do somethings that would enrage modern day society (like killing his son in combat), he does have standards. Very charming.

Odysseus

Gundam/Kamen Rider jokes aside, he is a good unit. Unique selective lock-on, NP charge skill that also grants charm immunity, and his NP removes defensive buffs before doing damage (Medea take notes). It also helps that he's a charming (haha) character as well. Also, Mecha Horse go brrrrrrr. :D

Siegfried

Clear bias aside, he is a good unit... after he gets his upgrades (also I low-key hope that his Armor of Fafnir skill somehow gets integrated into his kit, since he sadly doesn't have it as a passive, but that's neither here nor there). Even though he's a bit too self-sacrificing, he does have good and noble intentions. Also, he's an absolute dork (affectionate) during Summer 4 (he thinks glasses automatically increases intelligence, if that's not a somewhat himbo thing then I don't know what is).

Honorable mentions: nearly everyone except a few (Benkei, both Gilles, Phantom).

Voyager/Kijyo Koyo

I'm just gonna combine two options into one, since they're gonna be on the same banner and I'll be happy to get either one or both. Not much reason here, just looking forward to having a Foreigner and a neat Berserker.

Caenis

I find him a very interesting character that I hope to get one day. I know that I missed my chance to get him on NA, but his interlude's dropping next year, so I'll get another chance.

Fairy Knight Gawain/Barghest

Yes, I'm one of those fans who like her, you're free to judge me. 😅 When she was first revealed, I didn't think much of her, except that I think that she has cool armor and the colors used for her are really nice to look at (until her third ascension, but that's also not here nor there). And then her bio was translated, as well as her role in LB6... and the next thing I know I developed gap moe for her.

Okita Souji

Even though her interactions are restricted to GudaGuda/Koha-Ace stuff (as far as I'm aware), I find her enjoyable and I really like all her ascensions.

Leonardo da Vinci (Caster)

KATA DOCHI: Sinyal Pamit Dochi dari PWG?

Menyukai sesuatu namun tidak didukung lingkungan sekitar, begitulah kira-kira cerita yang gue alami ketika menyukai band Pop Punk bernama Pee Wee Gaskins. ‘Peskins’ atau ‘PWG’ – biasa orang menyebut - buat gue pribadi ibarat punya pacar tapi kondisinya ‘backstreet’. Kalian amat menyukai tapi sayangnya semua bentuk apresiasi dan ekspresi kepada sang idola atau pacar kalian, harus dijaga agar orang lain tidak mengetahuinya.

Menjadi ‘Party Dorks’

Internet waktu itu jadi alat jualan yang ampuh buat Alditsa Decca Nugraha a.k.a Dochi Sadega, mengenalkan karyanya sampai ke telinga kalian. Dan sampailah karya itu ke telinga gue, sekira 2007-an akhir di mana saat itu gue masih duduk di kelas 3 SMP. Ada dua lagu yang gue dengerin pertama kali, yakni ‘Here Up On The Attic’ dan ‘Di Balik Hari Esok’. Seingat gue waktu itu Dochi menggunakan ‘Ihcod Agedas’ – pengejaan Dochi Sadega secara terbalik – jadi format-nya masih akustik-an. Lucu dan asik nih lagu, gumam gue dalam hati seketika itu.

Here Up On The Attic (first demo)

Publikasi yang masif secara D.I.Y oleh Dochi dengan medium internet sangat berhasil menurut gue. Awal PWG terbentuk, gue coba berselancar dengan google dan menemukan banyak orang asing atau ‘bule’ semacam memberi testimoni. Mereka berfoto dengan memegang kertas yang tertulis ‘I Love Pee Wee Gaskins’ dan ‘Go Pee Wee’ dan sebagainya. Dan ini membuat orang-orang semacam gue, dulu mikir ‘wah bule aja doyan musik ini, masa kita engga’. Kurang lebih seperti itu kenangan gue mengingat awal-awal nyari tau tentang PWG. Dochi belakangan dalam beberapa interview pernah bilang klo ngajak bule untuk kasih semacam testimoni adalah sebagai strategi publikasi saat itu. Good job!

Pertumbuhan dan penggunaan internet di Indonesia, tren-nya terus mengalami peningkatan. Pada waktu itu, sosial media baik berbasis pertemanan atau musik menjadi magnet buat anak muda. Masih jelas dalam ingatan gue, di era Friendster gue sudah membahas soal PWG dengan perempuan yang gue kagumi. Dan topik ini cukup berhasil membuat obrolan asyik dan seru di kolom ‘testimoni’ hehehe. Lalu, era MySpace menurut gue juga menjadi saksi atas animo orang-orang terhadap musik indie tanah air. Situsweb ini menawarkan paket lengkap, kita bisa tahu profil band, jadwal manggung, photo stage dan video live, serta mendengarkan musik secara free. Momentum itu tidak disia-siakan oleh Dochi dan seketika PWG langsung ‘boom’.

Saat masih di bangku SMP, awalnya gue menyukai musik Pop Elektro seperti Goodnight Electric, Rock N Roll Mafia, atau Homogenic (HMGNC). Kemudian masuk ke masa transisi di mana gue mulai dicekoki band semacam Dagger Stab, Killed by Butterfly, Seems Like Yesterday, March, dan sejenisnya oleh sepupu gue (sepupu gue ini perempuan tapi pacar yang sekarang menjadi suami termasuk anak-anak skena indie Jakarta). Di samping itu, gue juga menemukan keasyikan sendiri dengan musik dari Killing Me Inside, Thirteen, The Old Curse of Death (Tocod), Sweet as Revenge, dan sebagainya. Musik itu gue dengarkan lebih dulu sebelum gue mengenal Ihcod Agedas atau saat bertransformasi menjadi PWG.

Dari sekian banyak band, ternyata selera hati dan telinga gue cocok sama apa yang disuguhkan oleh PWG, baik dari musik, aksi panggung, hingga fashion. Yes, I’m a party dorks – sebuah fans name dari PWG - di mana gue saat itu merasa tidak masalah ketika lingkungan sekitar gue tahu bahwa gue mendengarkan PWG dalam intensitas yang tinggi. Mulai dari mini album Stories From Our Highschool Years (2008) hingga Mixed Feelings (2019), gue masih menikmati musik mereka dan mengikuti panggung mereka secara langsung.

Terakhir gue nonton PWG itu pas launching album Mixed Feelings akhir Desember 2019 di M Bloc Space Jaksel. Gue suka konsep dan materi-materi lagu di album terbaru. Namun, gue lebih menyukai suasana panggung atau gigs yang ‘tidak berjarak’ antara artist dengan penonton seperti saat perillisan album A Youth Not Wasted (2016). Gua marasakan ada hubungan yang intim dan pertukaran energi secara instan ketika menonton dalam format gigs seperti di Rossi Musik Fatmawati, Parkit De Javu Sarinah Thamrin, Moe Café Bintaro (sekarang jadi Restoran Ayam Goreng Karawaci hehe), Carburator Spring Bintaro, Mas Berto Sudirman (kalau ngga salah udah tutup), venue yang intim lainnya.

Kemunculan ‘APWG’

Muncul fase di mana menjadi ‘Party Dorks’ tidaklah lagi mengasyikan. Sekira tahun 2009, tahun kedua gue berseragam putih abu-abu. Sayangnya, di tahun yang sama PWG baru aja merilis full album mereka bertajuk The Sophomore. Adalah munculnya gerakan yang entah oleh siapa yang menamakan diri sebagai Anti PWG atau APWG. Teman-teman di sekitar gue memang tidak ada yang mengintimidasi fisik atau kasar secara langsung, jatuhnya lebih kaya bercandaan sih.

But, seingat gue juga situasi gigs yang menampilkan PWG seringkali rusuh dan kurang kondusif. Padahal dulu itu yang nonton biasa aja, pada keren, cantik dan wangi-wangi hehe. Cukup lama fase kemunculan APWG sehingga gue memutuskan untuk mengurangi mendatangani panggung mereka. Jadi, di tengah-tengah kemunculan APWG dan ketika menjadi Party Dorks mulai tidak aman, gue sempat diajak oleh temen gue mengisi part bass di band metal-nya. Singkat cerita, mulai 2010-an gue masuk ke dalam komunitas metal Pamulang dan sekitarnya. Mereka dulu adalah teman-teman gue yang mengetahui bahwa gue Party Dorks juga, circle yang sempit sih hehe.

Ada satu temen gue yang nyeletuk, “bukannya lo dulu anak PWG ya, kenapa sekarang metal-metalan”. Di situlah muncul sebutan buat gue ‘Nando Tinunit’. ‘Tinunit’ itu diplesetkan dari bebunyian synthesizer, salah satu alat musik yang dominan di lagu-lagu PWG. Sebetulnya ngga papa, ngga ada bullying atau apapun tapi lebih sekedar buat bahan ceng-cengan hehe. Namun, gue memutuskan ‘backstreet’ dan menyenangi PWG sembunyi-sembunyi hehe. Gue mencabut atribut PWG yang menempel di beberapa barang, menaruh di tumpukan paling bawah merch PWG dan CD’s. Segitunya yaa hehe.

Tahun ke-13

Dochi baru aja menyelesaikan buku perdananya, “KATA DOCHI” Sebuah Memoir Memori, awal 2020. Gue menulis ini setelah gue selesai membaca buku setebal 176 halaman. Isinya ngga Cuma bahas PWG, tapi juga ada soal keluarga dan hal menarik lainnya. Di sini gue ngga akan spoiler, biar kalian baca sendiri isi lengkapnya. Tapi yang menarik buat gue adalah tentang PWG, di mana Dochi menulis: “Jangan pernah takut jadi Dorks, karena kami ngga pernah takut jadi Pee Wee Gaskins”. Kalimat ini yang akhirnya memicu gue menceritakan ketika menjadi Party Dorks.

Bayangin aja, bertahun-tahun manggung dihadapan ratusan bahkan ribuan orang tetapi di saat yang bersamaan muncul kekhawatiran soal keamanan karena APWG ngga sungkan melempari Dochi, Sansan (vocal/guitar), Ayi (guitar), Omo (synthesizer), dan Aldy (drum) mulai dari botol air mineral, sepatu, bahkan batu. Saat diwawancara Gofar Hilman, di #Ngobam Dochi Sadega, Dochi juga sedikit cerita tentang munculnya APWG.

Gue sangat salut dan mengapresiasi PWG di tahun ke-13 dan ngga sedikit dapat penghargaan dan panggung-panggung gede seperti opening MXPX di Malaysia, Sonic Boom Fest di Filiphina, Summer Sonic Tokyo. Di dalam negeri, panggung demi panggung seperti Synchronize Fest, Soundrenaline, dan lain-lain juga ngga kelewatan. Ngga mudah menjaga kekompakan dan nge-maintain fans mereka. Gue sempat hadir langsung ke perayaan kecil-kecilan 11th Anniversary PWG dan di sana kelihatan mereka lebih sekedar teman nge-band tapi udah kaya keluarga. Dari mereka lajang sampai menggendong anak.

Kejenuhan adalah hal yang lumrah. Dalam bukunya, Dochi mengatakan, “Gue ngga mau suatu hari kejenuhan akan menjadikan band ini tidak lebih dari sebatas rutinitas dan tanggung jawab”. Gue berharap dan semua berdoa mudah-mudahan selalu aja ada hal baru dan menarik dalam band ini sehingga tidak menjadikan para personel monoton melakukan business as usual. Gue meyakini usia PWG lebih panjang dari belasan tahun, melihat talenta di baliknya adalah orang-orang yang punya passion dan tidak menggantungkan hidupnya dari band semata.

BTS Fic Recommendations

There seems to be a weird divide in this fandom between reader x member and member x member stories, but I’m just here in the middle like “all Bangtan smut is good smut!” A good story is a good story and good writing is good writing. Some of these have no smut at all and some are so filthy that I can’t believe I’m recommending them, but, you know, BTS ruined my life and I have no shame anymore. 

I’ve probably read hundreds of BTS stories by now and these are the ones that I go back to over and over. I tried to pick only one per author, but all of these authors are amazing and you should go check out their whole masterlists. These are the authors that I personally fangirl over and stand in awe of. None of these are particularly similar to mine (eg. they are way better) and none of them are particular similar to each other. These are the fics that, for whatever reason, I couldn’t forget about after I read them.

same damn hunger (M) by marienadine - Yoongi X Hoseok - I am weak for Yoonseok and this fic does an amazing job capturing the push and pull of their relationship. I think this might be my favorite fictional Yoongi I’ve yet read, striving so hard to be tough, but secretly and vulnerable softie. 

Dig Deep (M) by @johobi - Yoongi X Reader - Tentacle kink is not in my usual list of things I am interested in, but this was so enjoyable and weird and sexy and compelling that I actually sat in my car for 15 minutes not driving anywhere just so I could finish it. I love the level of world building in this tentacle porn. There are real characters and backstory and whole alien species with foreign biology. It is awesome. And the ending is so surprisingly sweet. I love how Jo kept all the things that can be sexy about this genre but made it all consensual and fun.

Completed Stories

All of these are stories that I’ve read more than once, and I am sad every time they are over. 

Transference (M) by @jeonjagiya - Hoseok x Reader - There is not enough Hoseok fiction in the world, but this story’s tantric therapist Hoseok goes a long way to making up for that. Probably my personal favorite male lead in a reader-insert story. Such an incredibly sexy story that feels real. I am madly in love with Iris and have read all of her stories more than once. Her sub!Jungkook story almost killed me.

In the Twilight Air (M) by @trilluvium - Yoongi x Jimin - Yoongi and Jimin are dorky best friends who lose their virginity together.  I don't think I've ever read a one-shot that made me feel so many emotions! It was so cute and sweet and felt authentic to what a good first time would actually be like. Originally this was a one-shot but Trill has expanded it and I am loving every new chapter. I have read Trilluvium’s whole masterlist and am in love with everything she’s ever written.

Good Boys Like Bad Girls (M) by @wildernessuntothemselves - Reader x Taehyung - I read this story and was hesitant to recommend it for a long time because it is so incredibly intense. All the characters are terrible people and the smut is both exceedingly hot and exceedingly disturbing. I cannot stop thinking about this story. It remains one of the stories that has stuck with me the longest after reading it. I care about all of its messed-up characters so much and the ending is devastating in such a perversely satisfying way. But seriously, don’t read this if you want all of your protagonists to be good people and do good things. This is not that story. I admire Moe so much for how unique and unapologetic her ideas are and have enjoyed a lot of her other writings as well, even if they all unsettle me in different ways.

Jasmine (M) by @btssmutgalore - Reader x Jungkook - Jungkook x noona is my favorite thing ever and he’s so well-captured here: nervous, but sexy at the same time. I’m also a huge fan of Business which is a very very sexy threesome with dom!Tae and sub!Jungkook. 

Playing to Win (M) by @tayegi​ - Taehyung x Jungkook x Reader - I am such a sucker for Taekook threesomes, but I particularly love this one because of “I hate you but you’re so sexy” thing going on with the reader and Jungkook. I haven’t a chance to read all of Lu’s astoundingly large masterlist but some of my other favorites of hers are her new MadScientist!Tae story, her Jungkook wolf stories, and this awesome fuck-or-die Jungkook story. Lu has an amazing ability to come up with such clever and unique fic ideas and all her stories are hilarious in addition to sexy.

Milage May Vary (M) by @crossfilth - Taehyung x Jungkook - Rix is the reason Taekook is my OTP (I have two OTPs and two biases, can’t help it). I love every single one of her stories. They are so incredibly sexy, but also so full of real emotion and great dialogue. This is Rix’s longest work so far and it is phenomenal, really sexy, but also really interesting character development and compelling love story. Her entire masterlist is amazing. 

Love at First Touch by @bagelswrites - Jimin x OC - I am such trash for soulmate AUs and this is my all-time favorite. The OC is so well-realized with her own flaws and struggles and you really feel for her throughout the story. This also has my absolute favorite fictional depiction of Jimin. I personally find Jimin very hard to write and he is so often written out-of-character, but this story really nails his signature blend of insecure, vulnerable manliness. The author did so much research to make sure this story lined up with BTS’s actual timeline in real life. Bagels is my hero. 

Thursdays are for… (M) by Arguileless - Taehyung x Reader x Jungkook - My favorite story in the “dating one member but really want to fuck a different member” genre. It’s all smut, but manages to reach 17,000 words. This version of Taehyung who is wildly adventurous and dominant is incredibly sexy. This story started my Taehyung as bias-wrecker problem.

tear the moon from the stars tonight (M) by euphoriae - Yoongi x Jimin - Historical AU with so much real research behind it, I’m blown away. At first, the “jimin is a slave” premise sounds ridiculous, but the rich context, attention to detail and world-building quickly make you forget about it.  I learned a surprising amount of Korean history because of this story, and the love story here is beautiful. One of the very first fan-fictions I read and it showed me how literary fan-fiction could be. 

Inc. (M) by @park-loins - Seokjin x Yoongi - BTS meets The Office. Had me cackling over and over, but also desperately rooting for the love story. Can’t believe this is the same author that also wrote the heart-breakingly beautiful Reprise.

you have 1 new message by bazooka - Namjoon x Jin - I think everyone in this fandom has already read this story, but on the off chance you haven’t, you should. It’s starts as totally hysterical and then becomes amazingly sweet. 

Love is not possession (M) by kuragecharms - Jungkook x Jin - More A/B/O because I am trash. I really love all of kuragecharms’ wolf stories. This author was also the first to sell me on Jin x Jungkook as a ship and now I’m a big fan.

Bloody paws in the snow (M) by pandorasumbrella - Yoongi x Hoseok - My all-time favorite A/B/O story. Does such a great job building an incredibly detailed world. This is the first work in an elaborate trilogy that is so beautiful it breaks your heart. 

Nirvana (M) by syubology - Jimin x Hoseok - Jimin and Hoseok struggle with their feelings for each other. One of the first fics I ever really loved. This story does a terrific job of depicting BTS as BTS and the possible ramifications of a relationship within that dynamic.

For where there’s sun you’ll find a moon by @bulletproof-dork-boys - Yoongi x Taehyung - I am huge a greek mythology nerd and I am super excited to see where this Taehyung as Hades, Yoongi as Persephone story goes.

SAVE ME (M) by agnes_viviane - Jungkook x OC - Adorably awkward OC befriends Jungkook on accident, then falls in love with him. Makes me cackle with glee and second-hand embarrassment every time I read it. Full of all my favorite things: awkwardness, angst and Jungkook. Agnes is the sweetest and taught me a lot of important things about the correct ways to address people in Korean and how to properly use Korean in my stories.

Touch Me, Touch You (M) by @deathbyyoongi​ - Yoongi x Reader x Hoseok - Yoongi + Hoseok + smut + angst + mild D/S… it is all the things I am weak for in one story.

The Fitting (M) by @noona-la-la-la​ - Jungkook x Reader - Noona-la-la-la writes really excellent, realistic but still super sexy smut and all of her reader inserts are adult women, often older than the boys. I also really really enjoyed Unexpected which is Yoongi smut and Conditioned featuring sub!Taehyung.

Grey Area (M) by @blushoseoks - Yoongi x Reader x Jimin? - Soulmate AU where everything is more complicated than it should be and so wonderfully angsty. Such an interesting take on the Soulmate AU.

The Purge by @jungblue - Hoseok x Reader - I just found jungblue and everything I’ve read from them so far is phenomenal! I love this fic in particular because it is such a different idea than anything I’ve seen before and stars Hobi!

The Unwanted Alpha (M) - by RedPantherVitality8 - Jungkook x Reader - Combines A/B/O with noona x Jungkook angst. No faster way to my heart.

Leave your mark (M) by @inarsics - Jungkook x Jimin - A/B/O is my big weakness/guilty pleasure. I love this story in particular for its interesting take on the genre, where all the alphas have gone extinct. Also, Jimin has a little brother and it’s incredibly sweet and adorable.

i like how desperate you seem (in the way you look at me) (M) by fatal - Jungkook x Jimin - A “classic” of BTS A/B/O subgenre. Super slow-burn that keeps you on the edge of your seat and desperate to know what happens next.  

your taste is so sweet on my lips (M) by @pinktteokie - Hoseok x Taehyung x Yoongi - My favorite polyamorous story. The slow-burn is so good and the way the relationship moves from a relationship between two people to a relationship between three people is fascinating.

read between the (panty) lines (M) by @lunaticmyngi - Yoongi x Jimin x Jungkook - I fangirl so hard about everything from TheHalesNyx. How she manages to write so many different requests and have them all be so well-done, I have no idea. This prompt started off so filthy, and became such an intensely emotional story. You feel so much sympathy and angst for all three members in this story. Her entire masterlist is amazing.

So, you want to write a young adult novel and you want it to be bad? I hear you. You’re tired of trying to write good novels for kids. Writing something awful it’s freeing and everyone cares too much about kids anyway, right?

Here are my tips for writing the worst YA novel you can.

Write like an 88-year old man from a wealthy neighborhood in Connecticut. 

You once had a teenager perspective inside you back a few decades ago. That’s over now. You’re a full-fledged curmudgeon. Write like it.

Make sure that the whole book is written like you’re observing things from an ancient, judgmental difference.

Like a total fool, Brandon failed to put money in his IRA or notice that his skin’s taut nature. I laughed at him. 

  Make sure there is no emotional truth in anything.

You don’t want the readers to identify with any of your characters. What better way to do that than to make sure that they can’t. How do you do that? Make everything bland. Make everything completely lack intensity. Imagine Spock from Star Trek when he’s not in love with Kirk. Channel that.

I fell in love. No metaphors. It happened. Maybe it was gas. I had burritos for breakfast that morning, which always impacts my digestion.

Avoid any real teenagers. Wait. You can yell at them to get off your lawn, but that’s it.

You want a sucky book, right? Make sure you have no current pop references, write in a bubble and have no clue what teenagers care about or even look like. They’re all blue, right?

I wanted to be one of those people who are just there but not. I liked the smell of Metamucil. When Grampa visited I thought, “Cool.” Same thing as I thought when the love of my life showed up. Intensity is overrated. 

Use a lot of slang!

Nothing makes an awful book like using slang from the 1940s in a present-day time period. Put in as many as possible.

Good ones include:

Armored heifer – Canned milk

Bust your chops – Yell at someone for being a dork

What’s buzzin’ cousin? – How are you doing?

He had high-tailed it out of there, and I did not have moxie to flap my gums to him about how she was a bearcat or not to take any wooden nickels from the other one, who was such a cancelled stamp.

Have No Plot

Seriously. Just have everything be stagnant. Have there be no immediacy. Have it be like a town planning board meeting discussing the land use ordinance’s shoreline setback for 5.7 hours.

We sat there. The others talked. Time passed. We sat some more. I stared at the ceiling fan. It seemed bored, too. We sat some more. 

Have No Hope

Life is dark. Life has no hope. Why not teach the kids that right now, right? They will one day have to sit in a town planning board meeting so they might as well get used to life with no light at the end of the tunnel where someone busts their chops all day and they have to drink armored heifers.

Make them hate their existence as much as possible.

Everything sucked, but not in an intense way. Just a mellow suck – sort of a droning on of suckitude for years. Then I died after 80 years of almost-but-not-quite existential worries and moments. The end.

  Do Good Wednesday!

  You can volunteer for organizations locally and nationally. A good place to start is here.

Every time you do something good, you make an impact. It might not seem like a lot but moment after moment, tiny bits of help after tiny bits of help add up to change.

So since @polar-star-dorks and @yourmoontothenightsky guessed correctly who it was that gave Moe her precious ribbon (and believe me she loves her ribbon, if you were to take it from her...She’ll kill you) (by the way you two can leave me your requests in the inbox)

So I’m going to take this chance to talk about the general relationship between the Eizan brothers and the Saito sisters (what kind off names)

I mean, it is kinda intended parallelism since I kind off see Nene/Eizan and Saito/Momo as...sister ships?

And I could imagine that both couples actually stay in loose contact after graduating. So yah, the kids know each other. Not from birth on but they know each other.

ALL THAT OUT OF THE WAY...Here you go...”The story behind the ribbon and other tales”!

The oldest siblings - Masashi & Kiyoko

They get along fairly well. Honestly, Kiyokoi is basically the only one in the Elite 10 who actually likes Masashi (with the exception of Masashi’s own brother ofc). They bond a lot about talking about Japan’s traditions and it’s wondrous cuisine. And share a lot of opinions in general. They do hold mutual respect for each other and appreciate the other’s one’s company. Although Kiyoko sometimes has to remind Masashi to keep his calm and composure. 

The second-oldest ones aka. the second-youngest ones aka. The middle kids - Shigeo & Moe

They initially didn’t like each other. She thought he was boring, because he was constantly on his phone when he and his family were over and he thought she was annoying because of all of her “Dooooo somethiiiiiing!”. At some point Shigeo thought to himself: “’Key...I’m going to take my pocket money [he was a bit younger back then] and I’ll buy this kid a toy so she’ll leave me alone.” He ended up buying the ribbon though. He just saw it and despite thinking “this probably won’t keep her distracted for very long” all about it just almost screamed her name. And well, this ribbon changed everything. Although Moe is more than used to gifts, no one, except for her parents, ever managed to buy her something that is just so fitting for her. So she was a ton more happier than Shigeo would have ever imagined. She was very, very thankful. Proudly showed the ribbon around and started to just ramble about how perfect this gift is instead of trying to get him to do something. She also nicknamed him (and as I said before....in Moe’s case a nickname means that she genuinely likes someone). They nowadays are actually rather close! Since Shigeo did warm up to her. It’s almost a sibling-kind off relationship. 

In Meme-language, Shigeo’s relationship to Moe is basically: “If anything should happen to her, I’ll kill everyone in this room and then myself”

Also they’re like....A great team-up of partners in crime who can death glare anyone into the ground 🎉

Now in Yoshiko’s case a nickname does mean disrespect. And that’s pretty much it. The two don’t really get a long. Yoshiko has no respect for Kei (because nobody has respect for Kei...no even me) and it angers him because he’s older!! What does that little runt think she is??! She’s a warrior, Kei my god. She likes to test her make-up abilities on him though.....Kei does not like it. 

Anyway....Thank you for listening to my rambling.
