Hob stared blankly as he unhurriedly washed the dishes for the evening meal. Although it was something as simple as washing a plate, he sighed with contentment. For after years of washing dishes for one person, now everything came in pairs. Two plates, two glasses and everything else, because he was no longer alone. 

Lost in his thoughts, he didn't hear Dream enter the kitchen and was startled when his lover blew on his ear for fun. 

The surprise made him drop the plate and while making a move to catch it, Hob slipped on the puddle generated by the chain of actions.

Fortunately, Dream had good reflexes, so he grabbed the plate with one hand and put his left arm around Hob's waist, preventing him from falling.

The surprise of the situation over, Dream's face was so close to Hob's that they could feel each other's warm breath. 

Dream was about to lean in for a kiss when Hob gently pushed him away, "No, no, no. I'll finish the dishes first." 

Smiling playfully, he turned back to the sink, "but if you're nice and help me dry the dishes, maybe..."

Dream muttered, "Clean freak." and though reluctantly, he took the dish towel anyway, wiping the dishes as Hob placed them on the dish rack. 

The silence that followed was interrupted when Hob began to grumble.

Dream stepped closer and asked him, "What's wrong?".

Hob pulled a particularly dirty dish out of the soapy water and said in an annoyed tone, "I can't get the grease off." 

Dream knew that even in a task as simple as washing dishes, Hob hated it when something resisted him. He leaned over to him and whispered mischievously in his ear, "I hope your lover, who happens to be the lord of dreams and has great power, can help you."

Hob gave a quick flick in the water to spray Dream, before giving in and saying, "You're lucky you're pretty." 

Dream gave him a victorious smile and replied with a wink, "I know." Hob grabbed Dream's dish towel and watched him shake off the grease with a snap of his finger. Then Dream turned to him and just raised a small eyebrow, handing him the dish.

Hob wiped the dish before placing it on the worktop with the dish towel. 

He turned back to Dream who was drying his hands and asked mischievously, "Is that all, Mr. Workaholic?  Or are there other chores too challenging for you? 

Hob crossed his arms and pretended to think, before retorting in the same tone as his lover, "Actually, there is something you could do for me, my lord. But I don't know if it's worthy of you."

"Oh?" Dream smiled in a way that suggested he understood what Hob was getting at.

He walked over to him and advanced until he was against the kitchen counter. He placed his hands on the counter on either side of Hob, leaned over him and whispered, "So? What is this task that may not be worthy of a lord of dreams?"

Hob looked up at him, put his arms around Dream's neck and whispered against his lips, "Kissing me?"

Dream ran his hands down Hob's back, put them under Hob's butt and lifted him up to make him sit on the counter. He smiled, ran his hand over Hob's face and replied, "This is not a chore, this is a reward. This lord will enjoy kissing this human and will put his heart into it."

He tied his arms around Hob's neck, pressed his lips to his and indeed put his heart into convincing the man he loved that this was nothing of a chore.
