Soilwork The Ride Majestic 2015 Track Of Choice: Whirl Of Pain Massively enjoying the new Soilwork album. It's going to feature in my end of year list for sure. But let's face it Soilwork have never produced a bad album. Every album they have made has been an excellent example of swedish melodic death metal in all its fast, furious and sky scraping mmelodic ways. But recent years have shown just how great this band can be as other elements have crept into their sound. More progressive sounds as well as a classic rock riffage approach that at first sounds utterly mental until you hear it properly. And Björn "Speed" Strid is still the best vocalist for this kind of thing. Gruff but understandable growls, rough but likeable mid range barks, clean but emotive low ends and a stunning high melodic pop style voice that tingles my spine. I cannot imagine ever not liking this band. For me they better In Flames by a country mile. And only At The Gates seminal Slaughter Of The Soul could possibly better anything this band have done in the last 20 plus years. One of the greatest bands to come out of Sweden.
