i think about this page way too much i have a god damn religion to it atp... i already pointed out how ford sobbed like a baby and stained this page with his tears (the wet spots are so distinct on the stan drawing and literally no other stain in the book looks like that aaaa) before but now im also thinking of how at no point does ford consider that stan would decline going to gravity falls for him or just straight up not show up

l looked through the og journal 3 for comparisons sake and the equivalent of this page are these ones

and still no mention of the very real possibility that stan would just reject going at all. theres no "he could say no", theres no "he might reject me," theres no "he could not answer me but..." at all. infact, in the page with the perpetual motion machine, he says "i must await his ARRIVAL" as if its already done, agreed and guaranteed stan would show up just because he said so.

that drives me crazy. theres just no doubt at all. hes very clearly under the impression that stan is living a good life scamming and conning people amd is doing fine on his own, yet he believes stan would just drop everything for him? is his faith in stans loyalty that strong? does he really believe so strongly in their bond he hasnt nurtured for practically a decade? does he just get off knowing he has power over stan like this or is it the fact he just can't fathom a world where stan would say no? i mean stan did come, so clearly hes right to think that. do you think ford would ever keep him on a leash? stan would let him atp hed let ford put a fucking brand of his name o his ass. thats basically what happened in canon. its canon ford owns stans whole ass and he knows it

She's so grateful to her for taking care of her daughter's body so well and she loves her for it 😭

She's SO wonderful like you don't expect it at first but she will make you cry. I genuinely believe twsb handles transmigrators and their pains so well, and Isabelle is one of the factors that plays into it! and the entire steve and bug i choose you scene ,,, oh boy theres so many layers to that one specific conversation that i simply cannot wait to dive into later. for now, the entire notion of their relationship is that they chose to love one another !!! bug chose to wait, steve chose to trust her, and they chose to fall in love <333 i firmly believe that true love is choosing to love your partner, not just the chemical reaction in our brains, but the act of staying and trusting to be loved in return - THATS true love.

and steve revealing hes always wanted to help/protect bug <333 i love the porch scene. i love tying things together and also just seeing their growth throughout the seasons. in season 1 the porch scene was heavy with insecurity. bug was weak, back then. she didnt want steve to see how hurt she was (but failed). now we fast forward years later for season 4 and shes actively leaning on steve !!! seeking his comfort !! yet shes also standing her ground, doing what she believes is right (even if shes wrong). and STEVE !! he failed her in season 1, he refuses to fail her again in 4 :((

now bugs whole "hey gang lets focus on max not me haha" will cause a few rifts within the group - everyone knows its unneeded, they all hate shes doing this, but they also know that they cant change bugs mind. its very bittersweet and :///

max and bug ,,, u Get It. they ARE reflections of one another. max is fifteen, same age bug was in season 1. its very very very reminiscent of how bug was back then, stubborn and slightly cold but still so full of love and concern for her friends. max is where bug was, confused and scared and unused to asking (or accepting) help. bug sees this and she also is struggling with this. theyve always had a close relationship, but billys death changed everything and brought them closer together. bug feels a kinship to max, she feels responsible for her, and max knows this and almost resents her for it. its messy and very sad and hard and me not changing canon too much will make things even MORE heartbreaking and sad :(

but on a happier note: YES STEVE AND BUG DO ACTUALLY TALK !!! they have a whole lovely conversation later (in the very last ep lmao) that resolves a Lot i promise guys theyre end game i just like drama and growth.

fr tho i loved the fact that we had a real prelude for this region.. i think the excuse to make something a little more isolated and establishing in it's plot is already super beneficial for whats to come. we got a lot more character exposition, and even the time to install these cool archon quest specific mechanics. i loved solving everything, it was all SO fun but they also got to have these really emotional beats, i feel this is some of their best pacing yet.

imo the last half of sumeru really helped hoyoverse find their stride, fontaine so far has similar storytelling energy to the whole heist bit of sumeru.

the best thing however might've been the SCORE??? they went out of their league with this one, it's the most fitting, noticable and influential instrumental work they've done in an quest imo

I just read the most recent chp of your fic (a superb piece of writing) and got the urge to ramble about it, if you don’t mind. (Feel free to ignore, if you want)

I really enjoy the way you write, and the interactions and characterization is splendid! And you even brought up the multiverse/diverging timeline stuff! :D

It’s such an interesting concept! Like, there’s so much to unpack! If Blue and Casey jr came back, their timeline obviously existed, but does it continue to exist? If it didn’t, would they cease to exist, as well? But if it did, what would be left? What is required for a timeline/universe to even exist?

As you know, CJ goes back in time and alters that past (now his present) so that his past doesn’t happen, and that rules out the theory that the future is unchange-able. So the future can be changed, but that implies that different decisions could bring about divergences (i.e. branches) in the timeline, causing wildly different outcomes (butterfly effect). As Donnie noted, who/what decides what these ‘big decisions’ are? Where do the divergences occur? Why?

Another possibility is that the multiverse exists, and Casey jr went back in time to another dimension (we’ll call it D2), not actually changing his dimension (D1)’s past or future, but becoming part of another dimension where the Invasion failed. (Does this mean D2 would follow the same path of D1 if CJ hadn’t travelled to D2 to prevent it?) If the past/future can’t be changed (alluding to a higher being), but the multiverse exists, then theoretically the dimensions/universes might mirror one another, with varying differences.

A third theory is that the multiverse and separating timelines both exist, and that’s a whole mess I can’t even get my head around rn. Like, do the dimension/universes mirror each others’ branches/divergences? Could separate branches of D1 and D2 converge, creating a bridge of sorts? Would they still be separate universes?

Idk, just lots of theories.

AS FOR THE TIME TRAVEL putting this under the cut because hoooooly shit anon i LOVE thinking about it sm

OKAY SO as it stands this is the scenario i think of when i think about the rottmnt movie in terms of actual canon. the invasion timeline was the main branch of what happens in universe and by sending Casey Jones Jr back, it branches off to what we know now as the movie proper.

the main takeaways for this scenario is that the butterfly effect is confirmed and true, but on the other hand it brings up the question; what happens to that future timeline? does it disappear and its linearity is continued through CJJ? or does his presence not affect things at all and the invasion timeline falls into the invasion?

personally i like to think the former, even though the world ""dies"", it still lives through CJJ unknowingly. the events of the invasion still HAPPENED, but its linearity is more like a loop rather than a break.

then theres scenario 2, the dimension theory where CJJ doesnt actually change the past at all, and instead just hops from one dimension to the other.

imo this one is a lot more bleak in terms of not changing the past, but it DOES bring up the interesting aspect where both timelines are just cocurrent, so for example while the rebellion falls in D1, at the same time in D2, the chase for the key is happening.

AND THEN THE THIRD SCENARIO which kinda of builds on the previous, but its also an option to consider. whatever ""master timeline"" is just the encompassing idea of rottmnt i suppose. we DO see in film that events sort of parallel each other (which has VERY interesting implications of fate), but in different ways (ex. f!mikey winking while opening the time gate compared to mikey winking while closing the portal to the prison dimension).

in this scenario, CJJ goes back in time like a loop, but also experiences a sort of deja vu when events from the apocalypse timeline echo and reflect on the failed timeline which ALSO runs on the cocurrent events scenario.

this one MOST opens up the meta of the peepaw multiverse too because it ALL comes from a source and the paralleling events are just the entirety of the f!leo goes back genre lol so i think this one is the most canon to wmas proper.

You're right first of all about the fact that there's a lot to unpack beyond the "it's two consenting adults in a relationship" piece but here's the thing, it's not meant for us to unpack. At the end of the day, all we can do is hear news, gossip and read articles about Al's relationship and this and that but we don't know how much of it is actually true and what's really going on, and we can't know. It really has nothing to do with any of us, and those two don't care what the public think either. It's Al and his gf's private life and judging on how shit broke out, they seem to have a lot more to worry about on their plate than anyone else's reactions.

Al is basically a womanizer from what I've read lmao. He always really has been and I know things obviously changed when he got older but an early article that came out saying Al and his gf are dating mentioned the age gap doesn't bother either of them and his gf has dated men around the same age and even older than Al. This is their personal and private life, after all. Men can have children at a very old age, this is just how science works lmao although it can be baffling at 80+, it's still a thing. From what the gossip online says, it looks like this was an unplanned thing and Al isn't doing so good. He doesn't seem to be jumping over the moon about everything from what I read either. I think this is hard for him, tbh.

And some people may think it's weird someone as old as Al is still having sex but given his track record, I'm not surprised at all lmao. To avoid disappointment from celebrity parasocial relationships and putting them on pedestals, you need to come to an understanding that you're also recognizing and putting up (in a way) their flaws on that pedestal too. Al is not a perfect human being, nobody is, but he isn't out here trying to be perfect or live up to anyone else's definitions either nor should he.

I love that you admire and love Al like the rest of us, but you also need to come to an understanding about the things he's done or said or whatnot that you don't agree with or necessarily like. He's just a human being at the end of the day, it's so complex. Don't think too hard on it, because everyone has their flaws and mistakes and as we recognize this, we can still love them for the great things they do. That's really the only thing you need to do.

I think the fandom as a whole looked way too far into this man's personal life. It does not effect us whatsoever and it's honestly none of our business. Al doesn't owe us anything and he's not trying to be a role model to us; we shouldn't be this held up about his personal life. I know it can be hard not to care, but sometimes all you need to do is acknowledge it, accept it, and move on.

I would also recommend reading the biography "A Life on The Wire" by Andrew Yule. It has a lot about Al's life from early days, to romance, to his personality and everything inbetween. It's seriously extremely detailed and gives you a whole new insight on just who that man is!

Feel however your heart wants to feel. You don't have to get held up in Al's personal life like others or form a strong opinion just because someone else has. Something like this doesn't need to stop you from admiring what a phenomenal actor Al is and how he's a fine ass man too. 😭

okay oshi no ko s2 (halfway check) i forgot to post this but whatever

im not 😭 well versed in analysis 😞 but i have many many thoughts that i will try to flesh out

starting with the basic - the animation had me hooked on the first episode but it truly is so beautiful. i absolutely cannot move my eyes away from the screen and i love how different styles are used together. they make it work in a reaaaallly good and smooth way - ESPECIALLY THE TRANSITIONS, they’re just chefs kiss. 

it is mostly goofy which i love - the banter, and the love triangle, the rivalry, how pathetic the director is (i love him hes so real) its so fun to watch!! but what appeals to me most is the darker scenes where they focus on highlighting the shitty and gritty details hidden in all these professions, and obviously on aqua’s psyche + (now revealed) ptsd. 

sidenote : i love the relationship between abiko and yoriko, theyre absolute cuties 🥹

okay onto Aqua!!! the more they go into detail about his memories the more it hurts. like the scene where u see his tiny hand in hers ill actually rip my fucking heart out 😭😭

his relationship with Akane has so much to unpack but she’s so fucking smart. it blows my mind how easily she pieced the puzzle together despite how little clues Aqua TRULY gave her. she’s crazy talented and when she imitated Ai???? wow. she also matches his freak so well like “lets kill him together. you must have a reason right? ill help carry your pain” INSANE DIALOGUE.

and omg with kana-chan!! she’s soooo adorable i love her little jealousy complex over him 😭 i kinda really hope they’re endgame just because i love her sm.. 

AND RUBY!! interested to see how the idol group progresses obviously but it’s soooooo intriguing to see the little glimpses of what shes truly like after Ai’s murder.. aqua thinks she’s overcome it but has she really? that one scene - “my brother wouldnt do anything that would risk getting a teenager pregnant” says theres a lot more to ruby than what meets the eye so far… are they both trying to appear fine so they dont worry the other? idk.

But yeah! Altaj is a dragonborn life cleric who grew up in a Tiamat cult that ritualistically blinded themselves in order to be granted true sight by Tiamat in the afterlife, serving as her tacticians, advisors, oracles, etc.

When Altaj was barely an adult, an adventuring party ransacked the temple and killed most of the inhabitants, leaving those who survived to either rebuild what they had or try and find life elsewhere. Altaj did the latter, becoming a wandering mercenary of sorts, a cleric with no G-d she could fully give herself to.

Her whole story was so much fun. She got to wrestle with her faith (becoming a cleric of Ilmater by the end of the campaign) and as Percy mentioned she got to confront her deceased family in Avernus, who had basically gotten everything they were promised. It was heartbreaking to have to realize they wouldn’t listen to what she had to say, but it was a pivotal moment.

Arkhan, from the brief interactions the party had with him, Altaj FUCKING HATED him. Basically the shining example of the smarmy individual who sucked her whole family in and enforced all the shit she’d had to unpack over the years, and he was still doing it. There was a joke that we’d make a sidequest out of killing him but that was just never in the cards.

The meme came from the post-game when I realized, rather bittersweetly, every party member over the course of the campaign had gained immortality one way or the other…Everyone except Altaj, who was already the oldest member of the party.

It’s okay though. She’ll get that fucker in the afterlife.

Altaj is @jurassicash's character! She's an old dragonborn lady and an ex-Tiamat cultist from a cult dedicated to the White Head of Tiamat. Her family were killed by adventurers decades ago and showed up during the campaign as abishai in the Tiamat-controlled area of Avernus.
