Alright, so. I like the Lucanis romance in general. But there is one major complaint I have, and it's this scene right here.

This is the romance lock-in scene.

Now, you'd be forgiven if you didn't catch that when watching the video, because literally the only indicator that this is the lock-in is the dialogue wheel telling you it is. Nothing happens narratively in this scene that would indicate the beginning of a relationship. If anything, there's gratitude and some light flirting.

The next time I took out Lucanis and Neve with me, Neve congratulated him on his relationship with Rook. Taash told him to take Rook flying on a date. And I'm just there like: "That's very sweet guys, but how the fuck do you know we're even together? Did the dialogue wheel tell you, too?"

My complaint about Lucanis' romance isn't that it isn't "spicy" enough or whatever, or that it's a slow burn. It's that it genuinely feels like an entire scene - the actual start of their relationship - is straight up missing. And honestly? That kinda sucks.

The cast of Blades of Light and Shadow and their Perfect Match types

Ever since I did my Blades/Elementalists attunement crossover to mark the anniversary of the Blades series, I’ve known I wanted to do something like this to mark the wide release of book three, and I love me some Perfect Match and the types system, so what better way than by incorporating that into a piece?

So the match types you see here are based on what we’ve seen of these characters up to book two, so any character evolution they may undergo in book three is not accounted for. You might also notice that, when deciding each character’s type, I went off of the core four traits instead of the match name or description, unless I needed a tiebreaker.

Finally, MC’s type is pretty subjective, as I’m sure everyone has a different idea of what their MCs are like, so for the sake of this edit set, Raine’s type is based on which traits she displays most in canon.

But will quickly drag a female character through the mud without sympathy for their circumstances just because they don't fit your ideals, will get mad when poc criticize a female character's actions that are very thinly coded in racism and say "support her crimes!" while ignoring how that often leads to the harm of poc characters, will shade woc characters or put them on higher pedestals than their yte counterparts while ignoring the harm they face while trying to meet your standards, will victim blame those who suffer (and are still suffering) from abuse when they act out in ways you deem "wrong" because of it, following up with the last point will mock and laugh at said abuse to uplift another female character (pitting women against women, even when the narrative does not ask for that), will dismiss any valuable argument displayed if the said female character is a little mean but then go and say "why can't female characters be mean? 🙄"

talon hates pet names but he does secretly want one, honestly, to feel more like a part of the group. (i wanted to make a comic about this but it just read like more of the overdone writing i dislike). The issue is. Well he doesnt take well to compliments or praise in general, due to past negative experiences. Likes being called handsome in any context so it has to be used sparingly because it makes him puff up so cutely.

All of al's usual go to's are too cutesy for him which also bothers Talon greatly, so we have to think outside the box. Honestly being called a little tick would be the best one, fun and fitting but he actually also has negative experiences with that one specifically. Then it just gets into throwing anything out there territory, which is entertaining in itself. My little leech, viper, pesky little louse, mosquito, kissing bug (<- a good contender actually.) Bat is too obvious but maybe al would use it as a placeholder... It's best when they come up organically, but al's been feeling the pressure to cement a good one.

he's the only one of bruce's kids interested in corporative work (except for maybe Duke): Dick is very community focused (officer, teacher, etcetc), Jason is dead (legally and emotionally and ocasionally physically), Cass Could Not Care Less, Steph is Not Official and you can take vet/activist Damian out of my cold dead hands
