I think in the chaos of today, it's important to also remember that Alex hosted this stream the same day one of his heroes; David Lynch, had passed away.

As Alex said, there would be no Twin Peaks with out David and in turn, no Gravity Falls.

And the thing is, Gravity Falls was hugely inspired by Twin Peaks. There's many nods to the show in GF from the Red Room, the town vibe, small scenes here and there, etc.

David Lynch even originally was asked to be the voice of Bill Cipher. He turned it down and Bill's voice that Alex does is more as he said it, a bad impersonation of David.

Alex even jokingly mentioned once he's make a season 3 of GF with David voicing a ceiling fan.

There was also the Peaks Twins in the Next Time On that were a clear play on Twin Peaks...

Also, he has a pretty close connection to Kyle Maclachlan, due to the fact he voices the bus driver in the finale.

Alex wanted him to be the one to take the twins home as he felt having Dale Cooper do so would be a fitting end to their story. He reached out to Kyle's managers who never got back to him. So, Alex wrote a personal letter to Kyle telling him how much Twin Peaks meant to him and that he'd love for him to do this cameo on Gravity Falls. Kyle instantly responded back and agreed to do it.

When I heard the news David passed, I instantly first checked on Alex cause I knew he'd take it pretty hard. I think in a way, David Lynch was for him what he is to so many of us Gravity Falls fans.

I'm gonna finish Twin Peaks now in his memory. I meant to do so for ages as I began watching it the same time I got into Gravity Falls but never finished. Now more than ever is the best time to get it done!

There’s a knock at his door and Eddie opens it to - “Ahoy, sailor.”

“Yeah, yeah, yuck it up,” Steve rolls his eyes, gesturing to his sailor uniform. “I look dumb. Do you have weed?”

He doesn’t actually and won’t until Rick gets some tomorrow but - “Not to sell, but you can smoke some of mine with me.”

“No can do, sailor,” Eddie grins. “This is your only option.”

Fifteen minutes later and…Eddie should’ve given him another option.

Now he has Steve Harrington dressed like an ice cream sailor really high and weepy on his couch. He’s sniffling and teary eyed about missing ‘the little guy.’

And yeah. It sucks for your dog to go missing and maybe the weed is bring some of that emotion to the surface but what is Eddie supposed to do here?

He tries, “I think, um. I think that Dustin will probably come back. They typically come back.”

Unless they go missing in the woods like his neighbor’s dogs did a couple years ago, Eddie thinks privately but doesn’t say that. He just awkwardly rubs Steve’s shoulder and says, “He’ll be back before you know it.”

“You’re right,” Steve nods, wiping at his teary eyes. “I’m just tired an’ I miss him. He’s probably having a lot of fun…He’s probably not even taking care of his curls.”

Jesus, Eddie hopes someone finds this goddamn poodle soon. He doesn’t want to experience Steve Harrington crying ever again.

He vaguely heard something about attracting your missing pets with your scent and suggests, “Maybe you can put a sock or something outside.”

That makes no sense to Steve but he nods anyways. Dustin’s always doing weirdo science experiments so, “He’s probably like that.”

The scarest thing about Nandor being actually smart in all things Guillermo is that this is the reason why he'll never make the move to be with him:

For those who don't know, the US Supreme Court just ruled that states are allowed to enforce trans healthcare for minors. Undoubtedly, this will trigger a wave of other states that either hope to pass or have already passed policies to do the same. This is going to kill children, and harm more in long-lasting ways.

So, how can you help?

FUCKING VOTE. I don't care if you don't like Biden, he's not the only one on the ballot. Vote representatives into your city council who will turn our city into a sanctuary city. Vote for governors and state reps who will, even if they don't pass new protections, oppose bans being pushed through. Chsllenge and kick out conservative incumbents who are banking on their races being obscure enough for people to not vote in.

Anyone telling you voting is useless is either lying to you or grossly uninformed and think saying this is the edgy new take that will make them look hip and informed. Yes, the system is broken. But short of burning the whole thing to the ground (which personally I'm not a fan of as I quite enjoy having like. Roads and the FDA) what we can do is to change it for the better, by starting with the local races and working our way up.

Sometimes I think about the fact that there was a whole episode of parks and rec where Ben and Leslie had to miss his birthday party so she could filibuster the city council meeting to protect voting rights in Pawnee

And instead of doing what most shows would do and making the central conflict a whole thing about Ben being mad about having to miss his party and Leslie having to make it up to him etc - he literally never even thinks to question her on it and is in complete agreement with her that protecting voting rights is more important than a bday party and has to be their top priority no matter how inconvenient it is for them (plus he also spends most of the filibuster drooling over how hot and generally awesome his wife is filibustering in her roller skates)

It’s just so refreshing to see a show’s main couple be so supportive of each other and on the same page rather than creating pointless conflicts where they’re both irrationally mad at each other over nothing - its not like they never have disagreements or anything but it’s always Leslie and Ben against the world on this show and I’ll always love that
