May I offer some Siffrins on this fine day
#keese draws#isat#isat siffrin#sasasaap siffrin#comic siffrin#I was going to do more doodles but I ran out of steam rip#anyways I have Many comicfrin thoughts but they are still in the oven a bit#but the main thing I wanna clarify is that comicsif’s loops started much earlier than the other two#as in. the beginning of their journey early.#which considering they were a part of the party from the start in this au their loops lasted a While#they ofc eventually started speed running it a lot more but even then it’d still take them at least a month#not counting looping forwards and backwards ofc#I wanna take a crack at drawing their party soon but I wanna do some more brainstorming first#I have very clear visions in my head for two of them and basically nothing for the other two#one of them is also there from the start and in fact she’s the reason siffrin came to vaugard in the first place#she was going to visit her family at home and they knew that a family friend of theirs had an uncle that lived there and decided to tag#along to say hi. unfortunately while they were at dormont something attacked the castle before they could go… go…#hm. that’s strange. a glitch rewind effect happened and I seem to have lost my train of thought. how odd#anyways they and their friend were quite shaken ofc but their friend is brave! so she decided that they needed to do smth abt this#at which point comicfrin was given the cosmic rundown on the timeloop situation#smth that would not be repeated for the other sifs lol#new game+

I'm going to try and space out my @overlords-au fanart a bit so it doesn't look like I'm too obsessed with it, haha.
Have a little colorpop doodle of Liam's human form ft. some cute fuzzy bunny socks. I was going to draw someone helping him put his hair up behind him but I ran out of steam haha.
I think I may draw more of this guy someday.... he's very fun.

🐻🧑🧑🧒
Link to the Prompts :]
🐰👨👩👧👦 (the Afton Family; what were they like?)
Bill is divorced from his ex-wife (Maggie Schmidt) and he has the kids on the weekends prior to CC'S death when Mike elects to go live with him full-time.
He's an okay-to-good dad, actually. He's fun and gets his kids these lavish gifts but he's pretty terrible dealing with emotional problems they might have. Type of guy to get you the new game system but stare at you blankly when you say you feel sad. The Afton kids get more emotional validation out of him when he's in costume.
Maggie is also a decent parent. She's harder on the kids but patient and understanding. She moves a couple towns over and eventually out of state to get away from the absolute mess that is Hurricane and Freddy's after her kids like... die.
Mike didn't take the divorce very well cus he saw his family as picture-esc and he feels weird about that illusion being shattered- Maggie's better than William at actually helping him with that. He still lashes out though mostly agaisnt his little brother. He does love his family a lot though he's tricked himself into thinking he's scaring Nate to "toughen him up".
Lizzie also didn't take the divorce very well but mostly because she wants to spend more time with her dad than she's allowed to. This sorta bubbles into a childish resentment for her mother but it's nothing tooo serious (she still loves her, she still knows her mum loves her, her dad just Gets Her in a way Maggie doesn't).
Nate is a small child and he's generally just confused about everything going on around him. He was a newborn when his parents split so he doesn't really know anything else. He likes his parents cus they're nice to him and hug him when he cries but he's a little scared of bill cus he saw him climbing out of the Rabbit costume once and he HATES THAT THING !!!!! It ATE HIS DAD !!!!! He has the SCARS TO PROVE IT !!! I think he prefers Henry, actually- cus he comforts him when Mike locks him in parts and service. Speaking of.
🐻👨👩👧👦 (the Emily Family; what were they like)
Henry was a shit partner and a slightly less shitty dad. Him and his wife (Eryka) are also divorced but they split before Bill and Maggie did. Henry is very emotionally unavailable (on a good day) and tends to just block everything out when he's too consumed by his work- which is often. He couldn't give Eryka the type of support she needed so they amicably split and tbh Henry hardly noticed. He's trying to be better for Charlie, though. He's still distant but he does things with her and is making a genuine effort. He forgot Sammy existed when Eryka left with him, though. Just completely blocked out his other child.
Eryka is an aspiring author and her leaving Henry and taking Sammy with her is probably the best decision anyone in this franchise has ever made. Her and Sammy just completely dodge all of the shit going on until like... 2017. Obviously she comes back to Hurricane for Charlie's funeral and things between her and Henry are very very tense (him being even more shut down than normal didn't help).
Charlie was a real rough and tumble kid I think. She'd get knocked down and keep swinging till she won. Her and Mike would wrestle pretty often and she'd want to keep going long after he ran out of steam (she'd run and grab him some fruit and plasters after tho :]). She loves her dad and looks up to him a lot but she secretly prefers spending time with Bill. Cus he's funny. She'd go and visit Sammy and her mum monthly :]
Sammy is a lot quieter and more introverted. They takes their parents splitting a little harder than Charlie did cus they LIKED Freddy's and liked hanging out with Nate but... hey what are you gonna do. He grows up to be a school teacher but he keeps up with the goings on in Hurricane. I think they doodle the animatronics every so often. Generally tries not ti think about how fucked up everything that happened was.
#apparently i had a lot to say about them all dhsaudj#fnaf#five nights at freddy's#william afton#mrs afton#michael afton#elizabeth afton#the crying child#henry emily#mrs emily#charlie emily#sammy emily#child death#long post#asks#anon

MASTERLIST
CHAPTER 1/CHAPTER 2/CHAPTER 3
It was another late night evening, when he was watching colorful TV screen filled with boredom. Time to time, the other thing he had done was clicking stridently on buttons of the remote control, when he got irritated with a particular channel once again. After finding anything interesting - which was rare for a long moment, he threw the remote control on the couch and reached out for a glass of water with a lemon pressed inside. Alone with himself, staring straight ahead into the changing colors screen as darkness covered his face, when some darker kind of scene appeared on. Only from time to time cars driving outside brought a little more light inside.
He sighed softly, and even jumped slightly on the couch at times when the louder sound coming from the box hanging in front scared him literally for a second. After a few times, including one, when he spilled water on himself because of the jumpscare, the decision of turning it off and staying in the whole darkness was made. After a few minutes of sitting like that, he became sleepy, and when he saw 10 p.m. on the lighten up watch, he jumped to his feet, stretching with a loud yawn. He groaned quietly, being well aware of the upcoming classes since the next morning.
After getting up and taking the first step, one of his feet was now experiencing the hated tingling sensation of sitting in an uncomfortable position for too long. He tried to get rid of it as soon as possible, waving his leg in all directions, sometimes jumping stupidly, so that the annoying feeling would finally leave him. This type of sensation was common after his dancing classes, when his muscles were not properly stretched.
And yeah, he again bypassed stretching after college classes, just to get ready in a rush for another training in the dance studio where he was also working. He simply couldn't help it. He loved his job as he could not only flower his own passion, but also pass it on to someone else. It was his favorite place in entire world. When he could watch how young kids are hard working and chasing their dreams. Often taking him as a mentor. It makes his heart sing happily every damn time.
He sighed again and went to the bathroom for a short shower, no longer than ten minutes, which after a long day was a relief for him. Steam was now hovering in the room, and a few funny doodles appeared on the fogged-up mirror, which the blond man drew with a quiet giggle while brushing his teeth. It was his way of relax. Even if after a giggles he's going to fall on his bed with hard thoughts.
After a few minutes, he was lying in a warmed bed, looking at the shadows dancing on the ceiling, and his ears perked up with wonder, if another disturbing sound would resonate tonight. Every time he heard loud bangs or broken glasses in one of the apartments above his, a shiver and an uneasy feeling ran through his body. More than once, he wanted to throw off the duvet and go up a few stairs and knock on the door of the apartment with the number 21.
Today, though, he flinched, and his breathing quickened along with his eyes opened wide now. When a quiet, almost unable to hear sniffling sound came up to his ears. He threw the blanket away, exposing his feet to the cold floor. It's been a while since he thought about getting a carpet to avoid this feeling. A shiver ran through his spine, but he ignored it and got to his feet.
He staggered for literally a second, then began to step straight to the window. It was ajar, which is probably why any of the sounds could have come from outside. At first, he thought that someone was just passing the building, someone overwhelmed with emotions. It was common this late at night.
He cracked open the window wide and peered out while firmly resting his elbows on the wooden windowsill. Some drops of the rain fell on his nose, and wind pushed his hair back. But then a quiet whimpering and sniffling could be heard in his ears again. He also had the impression that it slowly turned into a pleading sob.
The unpleasant stinging feeling inside his chest almost brought tears to tired eyes. Jimin was always a person filled with sensitivity and strong empathy, but he hardly ever wanted to show it. As people seemed it as if something weak. But today, he really won at that point in some way. Because he could imagine what the person can feel. Which made him hurt. But he was in some way happy, thinking that this person isn't alone at all.
Yet more than often he hated it about himself. People always told him that this was the thing that made him so weak, but he never understood why. Why must feelings be his weakness? After all, in people's minds, the word "empathy" is increasingly spelled as "sympathy."
The last thing you can count on now is understanding from the other person.
But it wasn't something he was thinking about today. Today he was only concerned about someone else's feelings and how badly he wanted to help. There was no picture of how to at all; and the only thing he had was an urge inside his head to make someone feel better. But when he couldn't see anyone on the sidewalk under his windows, still hearing muffled crying, he began to think he was going crazy.
A strong wind blew into him, winnowing the boy's dyed blond hair again, pushing face up a little.. So he lifted his head up to see if maybe there was a reason why he could hear the sobs so clearly. And yeah, two bare feet hung from the windowsill. He felt as if he had forgotten how to breathe for a moment. Questions crossed his mind about whether the person from the apartment above him was planning to take their life or was just sitting there without fear of falling from such a height.
The trees outside swayed like crazy, parts of the branches lay broken under thick trunks that were clearly visible from his apartment. Lightning flashing in the distance lit up the entire sky, causing another shiver. Rain was pouring, making the boy's face wet more and more. Since he can remember, he has hated thunderstorms, which have always filled his soul with unnecessary fear. It was different with the rain itself, the sound of which often soothed and lulled his soul. But now the dark clouds and thunder that hit like crazy were not calming him even a bit.
He wanted to ask only a quick question—why—even though there was much more than one in his mind. He bit his lip harshly until he felt the metallic taste of blood on his tongue. He grimaced immediately at the unpleasant flavor and moved away from the window, closing it quickly. He went back to bed and thought for a long time about what happened tonight. For hours, the wind and thunder took him away from falling asleep. Strong bliss was constantly whistling through poorly sealed frames. Eventually, he gritted his teeth and tried to fall asleep but even so...head was pounding inside painfully.
In the morning, around seven, a loud alarm clock ringer from his smartphone woke him up. The blond man groaned and quickly tried to turn it off. However, when he could not blindly hit the right button, he muttered under his breath and turned along with the blinding phone to the other side.
He knew very well that even if he wanted to, he wouldn't take a long nap. So he only lied with closed eyes, groaning from time to time and nuzzling his nose deeper into the pillow. He knew that someone was already in the way to push him off this bed if he wouldn't be on his legs by himself. He was more than well aware of that.
And yeah, after around ten or a little bit more minutes, someone started banging on his door, making him let out another groan while standing and feeling coldness under his feet. No matter how much he didn't want to leave his heated mattress and warm blanket, he moved with a grim expression on his face toward the door, which his best friend kept banging on. He yawned a few times during just a few steps, and rubbing face with the loosely hanging sleeves. He reached for the handle, turning the lock before doing so just to meet a well known face and roll his eyes at a smiley face bright and early.
“What a wonderful surprise! Thanks, oh King, for your kindness that you wanted to visit me; can you go now?” Looking at his best friend's face, boy murmured under his breath.
The black-haired man only snorted at his friend's incredulous enthusiasm and actually pushed his way inside the apartment without even asking for an invitation.
“Yah, someone invited you!?”
The visitor rolled his eyes and sent the blond one, a fake, pathetic smile. That's when the sleepy one felt like throwing whatever he could at him and cursing a bit, as he usually did when his slightly older, unfortunately, best friend caught up with him about his height or rushed him on literally everything. He tried so hard this time to not explode and tell the other guy not even to speak up. As just wished to go about his morning activities in peace after an uneasy night, without any stress or unnecessary comments from his friend.
“You should be ready. I'm coming here at the same time. Always. What's so difficult about setting an alarm, Jimin?" the blond one only send a grimaced face and left for a shower, hardly stopping himself from raising a middle finger, when the older one made himself at home in the kitchen.
After a half-hour, when the clock struck twenty-seven, the two friends left the apartment and went to training, properly locking the door behind them. It was lucky for Jimin, that Hoseok was always there to pick him up so he didn't need to worry about the public transports and all these schedules, but still sometimes he was hating on unusually loud persona.
They arrived at the training room an equal twenty minutes later, having exactly the same amount of time to warm up and stretch their muscles. Even if Jimin is pretty stretched, Hoseok has been much above him with that. Boy`s back was screaming for mercy today, but only to be brushed off and stretched out even more.
At eight o'clock, the dark-haired man began to demonstrate the new dance steps that had been added to their routine. As they've been chosen to represent their collage at the festival, which was approaching Seoul with ever-increasing steps. This all also meant that they've been chosen as the best dancers in the school and made Jimin nothing more than proud. But it still wasn't enough.
He wished to achieve more and more as his passion for dancing was with him since he was a little kid. And he was happy to have family on his side, always encouraging him to follow his dreams. As he was younger, he started with something like funk dance - hip hop in general but as he found himself in High School the contemporary dance was something that took his whole heart. Especially the ballet aspects of it. And his parents were always there for him. So he did everything to make them proud. Even if it meant he has to forfeit his health for it.
A good hour had passed, and streams of sweat were running down the blond man's forehead. Breathing heavily, he stared at his mirrored reflection. He could clearly see the whole of his body, something he clearly thought of as ugly. he couldn't stop himself from grimacing, staring at the posture inside the mirror. He lacked muscle where the core lies, thighs were too thick making him look like some kind of gorilla and his face was too pudgy. Yes, face was the one he definitely hated the most. And all he would like to do now, was throw something at the glass to shatter it all but loud steps took his attention from the reflection.
With a few pats on his shoulders, as Hoseok quickly found a place next to the Jimin to annoy him a little bit before the practice, barely letting him take a breath. But as long as they were friends, black haired man was also a damn strict teacher and never ignored any wrong move, but was quick to point it out on more than one occasion, pushing Jimin to the limit.
Blond man got up from the floor after one more fell just to begin another hour of hard work. Sweat dripped down his face in small streaks and breathing was heavy, often hard to catch, but that didn't stop him from getting up and taking new steps. To not let his parents down. To build an amazing body. And sacrifice everything to look at least a small percentage good. Wishing to look in a small way like people from newspaper covers or famous profiles on Instagram.
He never felt enough. So Jimin often spent hours in the hall, eating little, hoping it would help him. Paying no attention to how harmful it is to his body. And what's even worse - to his mind. Boy was completely ignoring the fact that liters of water and hours of dancing without the right diet could lead to a finish.
Yet the training didn't end as it was planned. It was a long hours more until he could leave the hall about six o'clock. Before reaching home, he knew very well that he had to run a few more errands on the way, which meant he probably wouldn't be at his apartment until around eight o'clock or even later. And he only let out a long huff, pushing his sweaty clothes inside the bag and putting on a light jacket.
He left the training room, saying a brief goodbye to the dark-haired man and slapping a few high-fives on the way out. Jimin was always a friendly one, even if he rather spent most of the time alone as he enjoyed his own company, he also liked to be around people. And Hoseok was a great help with it as he was like a walking sunshine with friends everywhere. Even if Jimin doesn't remember most of the people he ever met as his memory for faces is pretty poor, he usually with an awkward smile keeps answering short ‘hello’ on the college hallways.
As he walked out of the warm building, his heated body collided with the cold air. A shiver quickly took over his body and as he breathed into the space, a little mist escaped from his lips. After quickly pulling a yellow scarf tighter, covering his neck, and putting his hood over the wet hair he was ready to stalk fast to the next destination. Really the last thing he needed right now was a cold.
As he expected, he opened the apartment door roughly after 8 pm. Quietly getting inside, and putting down the bag in the corner of the hallway. Staring for a while into the empty dark room. Only after a few minutes, taking off his outerwear and then headed to the bathroom, grabbing his bag to take out the clothes to throw them into the washing machine with the other clothes that had been waiting to be done for days.
Boy looked at his tired face in the mirror. The machine door slammed behind his back making him jump a bit, so he only sighed loudly while still staring at the pale face. Hands quickly washed his skin with cold water, trying to give Jimin at least the slightest bit of life, but it was no use. So somewhat like a human wreck set off for the kitchen to provide his body with at least one meal of today. But even the thought of rating something made him nauseated. He really didn't have the slightest desire to swallow anything.
As the dry rice with chicken was in front of him, the first bite was the hardest. He chewed slowly, sitting in almost eerie silence. Trying to listen to everything that was going on around him. Suddenly the sound of the breaking glass and a loud curse, uttered in someone's soft voice came to his hearing. He furrowed his eyebrows and lifted his gaze upward. Literally, for a moment he felt like his imagination was playing tricks on him again, but then he remembered the previous night. Along with the figure crying in the window.
A voice he heard overhead and a heavy footstep on the floor echoed in his head. It was a girl, he could hear it incredibly clearly now. She was cursing as much as she could, and worst of all she said it all to herself. The blond man felt sorry for her. He didn't want someone so close to him to suffer so much. Even if she was a complete stranger to him.
So he naively took his way to the building corridor, trying to find the right door. Wanting so bad to knock once or twice. But he didn't. Only fingertips softly moved on the wooden surface of the door. He couldn't do more.

I was excited to start working on this prompt for @khoc-week as soon as the prompts dropped, specifically due to an AU RP group called Army of the Roses (started by @/pig-warship, sorry boo didn't want to ping you to death-) I've been involved in since 2019!!
To all my homies that are/were involved I love y'all this fun ditty is dedicated to you!! :)
If you've seen a bunch of my art in the Kingdom Hearts OC tags as of late, about 99% of it tends to be tagged with the name of the group, as to me it is like a brain eating amoeba that's Iliana (And Penna and Mando-) shaped (affectionate).
But before I delve too deep, let's get into the prompt!
Day 4 - Alternative Universes
I'm not gonna go too far into the lore of the AU because we'd be here all day, but I'll give a sprinkling for context!
The AU takes place hundreds of years after the events of Kingdom Hearts in a time where names like Sora and Xehanort have mostly been forgotten, but the events are still at least remembered to some degree. Places best known as hubs have also long since been abandoned and forgotten, turned to rubble under the weight of centuries of dwindling population. Traverse Town, even, is no longer the temporary sanctuary it once was.
Sora's Power of Waking kinda screwed up some fabric of reality stuff to the point where it opened a rift between universes, so there's a new (not very new by this point, anyway, unless you're a native to universe Alpha with no interaction beyond your world) universe with all sorts of places to explore!!
It's in this new universe where most of Iliana's character development is taking place, so buckle in for that.
Iliana's journey into the unknown follows the exact same story beats as her canon-compliant timeline, however she doesn't make ties with any canon characters this go around (because they're all long dead), so she mostly has to face the current state of affairs alone... ish.
Traverse Town is pretty much a ghost town at this point, with her uncle Russell being one of the very few remaining there, so her stay this time around feels a bit isolated. She starts off being a bit more closed off than she already was, which definitely will not have wonderful development later, no siree!
Her spontaneous journey to find her home is the same, but her chase through space ends a bit differently. Igni's Heartless (we didn't know it was her Heartless yet, well "we" being everyone but me) murks her in Traverse Town this time, her uncle manages to fight the beast off by himself, unfortunately paying witness to his niece's demise at the same time (sorry king), and instead of becoming Reixen she actually has her own Nobody named Anilxia, which I will explain why in due time.
[Reusing older doodles because I ran out of steam-]
Anilxia was a grimy, very hostile shadow of her former self, fevered by rage, spite, and insomnia. She was almost a danger to Russell, yet he still treated her with tolerant kindness and respect. Like a rehomed, antisocial feral cat.
Frankly, to him this was much better than having her dead and gone like the rest of his family seemed to be, she was their last hope essentially. He had no idea what to do without her, really. So he started working behind the scenes to figure out how to get her back, while making sure to keep her close and in check. Did he go so far as to ground her from going anywhere without him? Absolutely. You can't trust a moody Nobody-
She stayed for (less than?) a year with Russell in this form, in the meantime piecing things together she had noticed were super suspicious about the few memories she was regaining. It all festered into tons of internal darkness that was feeding her own Heartless, which she eventually found skulking around town wherever she went.
Knowing she might be met with some end soon, and in a desperate attempt to preserve what she found out before it could be taken from her again, she wrote her notes down in a... weirdly magical journal, then persued her Heartless through a rift that led them both to the other universe where she recompleted herself... and immediately got hit by a city bus- Jk jk... unless?
She was taken in briefly by a kind stranger who~ I think I wrote to be this universe's reborn Alto! In an AU-canon-compliant diary, anyway- Then she, not knowing how to get back home from here, and with nothing but the clothes on her back and a few weird misc. items, decided to stay in this new city until she could find her own answers to things that were plaguing her. Memories she couldn't, well, remember and all that.
Her only company for a month was Iris and Irene, who in this timeline were... suspiciously much more hostile, and absent at times. She assumed the memory wipe was affecting them as well, so she thought her best bet was to pick up the pace on her personal research both into her world and her memories. She had to juggle some awful jobs at the same time, so suffice to say she was having an awful time.
An answer came to her in the form of a flyer for a mercenary group named, you guessed it, the Army of the Roses, so she packed up her awful little apartment, sold her lease for pretty cheap, and moved to their home base! With some surprising encouragement from Iris and Irene as well, hmm...
In the jump between universes, and probably even before that with her death, she lost her ability to use her Keyblade. That didn't stop it from reforming as a clunky scythe, however, so no need to worry about that... Wait, it's not her Keyblade why is this thing orange and feathery- She picked up using it pretty well, so what harm does a little cosmetic aesthetic change do?
She seemed to fit in perfectly with all the wackos (affectionate) that live there, however...
She started off as a total shut-in, stayed in her room most of the time, barely spoke to the team unless she almost got caught speaking to Iris and Irene or had to actively contribute to missions, lurked in the kitchen at night to avoid interacting... But eventually after a few months of being there she came out of her shell enough to disclose her ongoing problem with her missing home world to one of the leaders.
Of course, that was a backburner issue. They were dealing with bigger things at the time, so one measly personal problem could wait, right?
At one point, that same leader took her and (her new lil bro) another teammate to search for clues, turning up with at least something. She was just having trouble putting it together, like someone didn't want her to figure it all out... Days of almost getting there but coming up short with her memory out of wack did a number on her confidence, so to her dismay she still needed extra help.
With the, some reluctant some voluntary, assitance of the leaders, they managed to, after some harsh poking, confront the now revealed main concern, Igni, and found the leads they needed to bring it back from the brink of disappearance. (The leads were boobytrapped, obvi, if they weren't then it'd be too easy-) From here on, though, Iris and Irene fall suspiciously silent.
Now, I had the absolute pleasure to be at the forefront of Iliana's Character Chapter, a special event where she could (almost) wrap up her character arc and I could make everyone cry! :)
I mentioned it a bit in my KHOC Week posts about Igni in 2021, as it was in progress at the time when I was making them! I thought it would add some nice flavor to her posts and add context for my reasons to talk about her, but it was all very vague so I wouldn't spoil much about the CC itself, so it may have been a... rough read-
We've long since moved on from it as a whole, but it was really fun to host and is forever one of my favorite things I've ever gotten to contribute!!
So, contrary to the canon-compliant timeline where I'm quite a ways away from ever reaching the grand end of her personal story, here we finally got to experience it in motion, but... good golly gee my pals really bent it beyond repair, thank goodness I am pretty decent at improv-
To summarize: They sure did find the Hills of Progress! Y'know the journal I mentioned earlier? Yeah, it was sealed in that.
Along the way they met some interesting faces, relived some horrendous relationships, immediately adopted a very good frog obsessed boy, and backhanded a twink who deserved it (my favorite part tbh). Things happened early and in the strangest ways possible, someone almost died (3 different people at 3 different times, it was a mess) and one nose was broken (Iliana got punched super hard at supersonic speeds so Igni would get out of the driver's seat, my 2nd fav part tbh).
But the important turning point (aside from a hug and a later interaction before Igni got Galeem'd 2: Electric Boogaloo) I wanted to talk about was when they crossed the threshold into Iliana's heart. They were there specifically to confront Igni and hopefully remove her permanently, but she was making it virtually impossible to find her. She's annoying like that.
They turned to their next best bet: Iliana's "heart parasites," Iris and Irene. They hoped the two would be more than helpful in finding Igni, but to their dismay... they were not. In fact, they refused and stalled for time, arguing with the leaders and outing themselves for what they really were in what was probably the most heart wrenching betrayal the whole CC...
♡♡♡
"They never existed."
"We're just figments of an active imagination here only to mentor where one couldn't succeed on her own."
-
"Igni made us simply to keep an eye on her, making us as real as possible only kept up the illusion she wasn't alone."
"If our purpose was to protect her, perhaps we would have done more to be kind, perhaps even try to defend her."
"But that was never our purpose, so it never happened."
♡♡♡
In turn both of them raised their weapons to [leader], defective copies of a Keyblade long forgotten.
[Quotes taken directly from the event! I went hard on that ngl-]
♡♡♡
They were never real to begin with, just illusions made up by Igni to keep tabs on and steer Iliana in the right direction. Visages she stole from the lifetimes she lived, people that did exist but don't anymore. Mere façades of what she thought a lonely child needed like the countless others she observed before, instead turned to a reminder that she can and will be disposed of eventually, to keep her in line.
Her whole life was revealed to be a lie right then and there, and that crack in her heart is gonna be very hard to repair. Time may not be able to heal all wounds on this one. Her trust? Shattered.
It also charted her course way differently, and with them being fake she was 100% herself when her Nobody stepped into the limited limelight. She was, in fact, truly alone the whole time. Well... Aside from Igni, but she doesn't count.
You can imagine Igni's defeat was bittersweet that day, she ticked off one too many people so it was time to get rid of her for good. She became Igni goo and was Baja/Biden/Flavor blasted to kingdom come, it was GREAT!!! Finally, a deserved win, since they had gone through so much in a span of two days, it was a relief!
Iliana's memories of Iris and Irene in this timeline are forever soiled, and because of it her already existing trust issues are much worse, but (to her dismay) her new found family is there to help work her through it!
The other downside is that she's got some guilt to work through, as well as her personal family problems and her now worsened Igni Disease™ (it has a name, I just think calling it that is funnier-).
And of course her being her you can try to pry these issues out of her and into the open, it may just take a crowbar and a lot of elbow grease. Or a bribe... or perhaps just a moment of vulnerability, of which she has few... Or her brother disclosing her personal life for the nth time. Either way, I wish you luck-
On the bright side of this whole mess, she has her Keyblade back in a more ethical way thanks to her new dad/big bro figure so HA, suck on that Igni-
Ahem.
Anyway-
The Keyblade part is not really a win in her eyes, but perhaps she'll warm up more to the idea when her self esteem repairs itself.
Not gonna lie, that self doubt of hers is strong enough to be a source of weird funky happenings...
But that's a thought for later!
What is a win is that she has her lil' bro back!!! And while she doesn't make it obvious, she has never been happier about an outcome in her entire life, that entire nightmare was WORTH IT-
Now she gets to teach him the magic of self defense, and the two can journey together just like she had promised him forever ago.
And with that~!
This was a long one! If you made it this far, you have earned my gratitude and a dash more of my respect!
I have a lot of passion and love stored in this AU and the people I collaborate with, especially the admins, so it only felt right to go on about it to great length! It's very fun to participate in, so you can see why my brainworms are specifically tailored to this.
Again, thank you to my buds in the server for the amazing opportunity to make this nightmare happen, and allowing me to have something to backread when I want to relive probably one of my favorite things I've gotten to host!! We all hate Igni in this house, yet her ghost still haunts us to this day... In one way or another-
Anyway, I hope y'all had fun!! I'll see y'all again for Day 5!!

“Contact”
Out in the distance, something glitters on the side of a dune.
Quetzal is in the process of constricting a concept to death when they detect the object, sensing a wisp of its meaning before turning to look at it. At this distance, it’s little more than a bluish glint reflecting the desert’s eternal midday sun.
In its death throes, the concept lashes at Quetzal’s emerald scales, drawing their attention back to the matter at hand. Distracted, they glance down at the concept, coiling their body tighter around it. The thing’s avatar is an ancient CRT television set with hundreds of barbed electrical wires whipping from its body. Onscreen, a grainy black-and-white image of an elderly human wearing a suit squints at them, silently mouthing something.
As the concept begins to break down, Quetzal strikes, driving their head through the screen with a rain of sparks and shattered glass. Its wire tendrils go limp as Quetzal whips their head back out of its body, clutching its glowing core between their fangs.
It tastes thin and inarticulate, a set of anxieties with its substance derived from the identity of the man onscreen. Quetzal learns that it gestated through the 1980s as they swallow the core whole, absorbing what little psychic mass it contains. There isn’t much else to know.
They turn their attention back to the object and take off towards it, discarding the concept’s remains to disintegrate into the sand. Quetzal grins as they feel its significance become clear. Diving toward it, their plumage swirling green and red, they watch the object resolve into a sheet of lined paper.
______
To the best of their understanding, Taylor and Jo have successfully summoned the feathered serpent of Aztec myth. Jo bolts into the night and winds up tumbling into Taylor’s dad’s tent, snapping the poles. Taylor hears her friend hit the ground, but is too stunned to look.
Quetzal hovers over her, their amber eyes on her spiral-bound notebook, which until about a week ago was for Algebra II. Now it has a pentagram doodled on it in sharpie, with a shed snakeskin resting on the page. The serpent looks at her next, and she feels very small in her camp chair.
A grin spreads across Quetzal’s face. “Oh, I love it,” they say, glancing at the thrashing, swearing mass amid the tent fabric. “Absolutely incredible.”
“We didn’t…” Taylor starts, going numb as Quetzal looks back to her. The serpent’s grin disappears, and their eyes go wide.
“Oh, honey. No, no, no, don’t worry. You’re completely fine.”
“Oh. Okay. Because we didn’t mean to, like, actually...”
“You put a signal up into the fever dream without even trying?”
“I’m sorry? I don’t know.”
“Okay. That’s okay. Hey, I—I just wanted to see who was there. Just here to chat. Is she alright?”
Jo, motionless, has managed to free her head from the tent and is looking on in terror.
“Quetzalcoatl,” she says.
“Actually, nah. Just Quetzal. Modeled after him, used to play him. Someone’s idea of him, anyway. The Quetzalcoatl is floating around up there somewhere. Probably couldn’t come down to hardspace even if he wanted to. Were you two trying to reach him?”
Taylor and Jo glance at each other. For a brief moment, Taylor feels sunlight on her skin, and the sensation of sand running through her fingers. A sense of vast, empty space yawns out around her, and then it’s gone.
“Did you have something in mind?” Quetzal asks, grinning.
“Well, since you asked…”

If you make a call, be prepared for someone to answer.
Thanks to @flashfictionfridayofficial for the prompt, “didn’t mean it.” To be honest, I ran out of steam here and need to sleep, but I may expand on it when I’ve got time. Thanks for reading!

Eternal Diva Fic (Part 9)
Funny mask man time aka my favorite part of the movie. We're already getting to the best part and we still have. 5 parts left. How am I gonna split up the time? You'll see :]
Trigger warnings for kidnapping, mentions of death, and heights and risk of falling from a great height (no one falls)
Word Count: 1.5k / Previous / Next
Before anyone had a chance to recover, Descole rushed the group, scooped up Melina in his arms, and ran back. No one could run to get Melina back because Descole’s wolves promptly circled them all. He gently set Melina down next to him.
“What are you doing? Descole!” Layton called up to him.
“I’m afraid I need this young lady’s voice if I’m to accomplish my real goal here.”
“What are you planning?”
He threw an arm out of his cape and pointed up. “To bring Ambrosia back to life!”
The opened roof revealed another higher roof with a drawing of the Ambrosian seal at the very top.
“The legend of Ambrosia was famous,” the masked man began to explain. “But it was I who discovered the complete seal. Layton, do you know what the lines around that symbol mean?”
I knew what those were… I think. “Music, right? A song?”
Descole seemed surprised for a moment, but then he smiled as he looked at me. “Very astute, Clare; that is correct. Ambrosian music. That seal is the first key to unlocking Ambrosia. It is ‘A Song of the Stars’.” He opened a little book on the Detragan’s tray. It was a two page spread of doodles, notes and sheet music. “The second key… is you Melina.”
“What? How can I be a key?” She asked.
“The Ambrosian Seal hides not one key, but two of them. Two songs that resonate in perfect harmony. A song of the stars and the sea…”
The music on Melina’s piano’s tray. That was called a Song of the Sea. Now everything was coming into focus.
Descole grabbed Janice’s hand, even as she resisted. “When the two songs are played together here, Ambrosia will rise once more!”
Mr. Whistler growled. “How could I not see it…? All he ever wanted was the Ambrosia Kingdom!”
“But just as I cracked the code, the one person who knew A Song of the Sea-- the other key I needed-- could no longer sing it. But her memories remained.”
“That was the real point of the Detragan then,” I muttered.
“Precisely. All I needed was someone to bring those memories alive!”
Descole flipped a switch on the machine, and the ground suddenly let out a cloud of steam. There were giant rumbles and cracking sounds. I ran forward to try and help Melina, but soon found no ground to stand on. I hit something metal right on my chest which knocked the wind out of me.
Once the smoke cleared, it revealed that Descole had built the platform to extend out of the castle. I had landed right on the beam that extended it out… and found myself hanging right over the woods below.
I yelled and scrambled to fix my position on the beam. Now I had a good hold on it thankfully.
Still wanting to help Melina, I started to climb up the giant iron tower. Thankfully, I was pretty close to the platform already, so it didn’t take very long. But with all the running I already did and barely any food to keep me going, it was a struggle.
“This… is your farewell performance,” I heard Descole say.
“Not if… I have… anything… to say about it!” I shouted as I pumped myself up and then jumped up to grab the rim of the platform. Luckily, I gripped it pretty well.
…Now the trouble came in how to get up.
“Clare!!” Melina’s head popped over the edge, and she gasped upon seeing my precarious situation. She tried to help me climb up, but she was only very strong in her lungs. She struggled to lift me, and I was worried I was going to plummet right down into the forest below.
Suddenly (and thankfully), I got pulled right up by my arms.
“Are you alright?” Descole asked simply, worry etched in his voice.
“Fine, fine, I’m fine,” I said, avoiding his puppy-dog gaze.
“When I heard you underneath us, I…” He suddenly seemed to remember Melina was here and that he was supposed to be doing evil things. “Well dear, I was tickled. You climbed all the way up here just to see me?” The speed at which his tone changed astonished me. He was good at putting on masks. “You needed only to ask to come along, you know. But you’re here now, and that’s what matters.” He set me down.
“Do you two… know each other?” Melina asked.
“I was there with Layton and Luke at Misthallery. He used a giant digging machine to try and destroy a whole town, just to get some treasure.”
“Oh please dear, you’re making it sound so much more uncouth than it actually was.” I glared at him, trying to look past his new mask. He smiled back, not letting anything slip. Janice stood in the middle, perplexed. “As much as I enjoy talking with you dear, I have some business to take care of. Then I’ll do whatever you wish.”
“Stop this right now!”
“I’m anxious to spend time with you too, but I said after my plans were done. Besides, you’re about to see history in the making.”
He turned back to the Detragan and started to play a few notes. A familiar song began to float into the sky: A Song of the Stars.
“Sing Melina! Sing A Song of the Sea! Sing, Melina!” Descole commanded. Janice looked down, and I followed her gaze. To my horror, I saw everyone surrounded by Descole’s wolves.
Melina eventually complied, and began to sing A Song of the Sea. In perfect harmony, they were chillingly beautiful together. But something… didn’t feel right. Or more accurately, sounded right.
Apparently it didn’t matter too much as the ground began to shake. No, it wasn’t the ground. It was the sea. Where the castle had already cracked from losing a wall, it started to collapse even more. Thankfully, that seemed to be the distraction everyone needed to get away from the wolves.
Descole spun around in delight to the edge of our platform, pulling me over with him, almost like a little impromptu dance. “Ambrosia… will rise again!” He shouted to the air, triumphant and sinisterly gleeful. He turned to me with a wide grin, holding me by the arms. “You should feel extremely fortunate, dear Clare. Not everyone can say they’ve witnessed an ancient kingdom rise from the depths of the ocean. And not from such a spectacular view!”
He laughed, holding me tight at his side… but then the shaking at our feet stopped. We all looked out confused.
Besides what happened to the castle… nothing had changed. The night was now calm and eerily quiet.
“Huh?” I gaped.
“What?” Melina asked.
Descole growled and let me go. He walked back on himself, and I could see his hands tighten into fists. “Why… Why won't it rise?!” He pointed at Melina without looking at her. “Again! Sing it! Sing!” Clearly, he was too mad to form coherent sentences. He walked back to the Detragan as I joined Melina’s side.
“Why didn't it work?” Melina asked me quietly.
“... I don’t know,” I replied. …There was something missing here clearly. But what?
Descole started to play again, and Melina followed right behind. There wasn't even a rumble from the ground.
Descole suddenly slammed down his hands on the keys, making a loud disjointed sound. “Why… Why… Why…” He breathed out in rage.
I shielded Melina by putting her behind me.
Then… Descole started to laugh. A humourless, cold, cruel laugh. “Well, if the door to Ambrosia will not open by this music… I WILL TEAR IT DOWN!”
He threw his hands down on the keys again, but this time hidden compartments in the Detragan sprung out and all sorts of levers flipped up ready to be pulled. He threw his cape behind him and started pressing buttons, turning dials, flipping levers-- all at the speed of an expert inventor.
The Detragan was suddenly cast in an eerie blue-white glow. The platform lit up below us with patterned lines. Melina gripped my arm behind me and I swallowed hard. Looking over the edge, other parts of the castle were glowing just the same.
Then the castle began to deteriorate even more. Bricks fell away to reveal iron mechanisms hidden underneath. Wires started snaking their way up to our platform to connect everything together.
Then… we began to move with giant metal steps.
Melina and I both stumbled and nearly fell with all the shifting around, but we held each other steady.
“Wh-What is he doing?!” Melina yelled to attempt being heard over all the noise.
“Doing what he does best: doing the absolutely most extra thing he can to get his way, because apparently he can’t be bothered to USE A SHOVEL!!”
The blue-white glow started to rise up the whole contraption, making the wind whip around us. Descole’s cape billowed dramatically behind him. He grinned wickedly.
“Ambrosia… shall be mine!!”

A very silly and messily written piece about Kate and her chicken :) (It's real short, but I just can't get over how amazing this doodle is!!)
AO3
Rain was slamming against the windows, freezing water sliding down the panes and forming puddles on the ground outside. There was a warm fire crackling quietly in the grate, casting smoky amber shadows on the wall, and a mug of steaming hot chocolate sitting on the kitchen table. Even though it was a wicked night to be out in a storm, inside it was safe and cozy and dry, and the farmhouse seemed to sigh gently as everything settled down.
The front door slammed open violently and a thoroughly soaked Kate Wetherall came bursting in, her rain jacket situated less on her body and more wrapped around something she was carrying bundled in her arms.
“Milligan!” She hollered, barely pausing to kick the door shut behind her. “Milligan! Dad, Moocho, where are you guys?”
Milligan Wetherall leapt up from where he had been sitting, carefully whittling a new block of wood, and ran to the front hall. There he came face to face with Moocho Brazos, who was standing in a fuzzy bathrobe and slippers, blinking at Kate as water slowly dripped off her person and formed tiny rivers on the floor.
“Kate,” Milligan spoke urgently, sidestepping Moocho and cupping her face with a hand, “What’s wrong? Are you hurt? Why are you all wet?”
“I’m fine, dad,” Kate looked down, shifting her arms, and reached up to pull back a corner of her jacket. “I found a new friend.” From underneath Kate’s hood peeked a very wet and bedraggled looking chicken.
Milligan let out a long sigh, allowing himself to relax slightly now that it was clear this wasn’t an emergency. Moocho made a small “Oh” sound of surprise, before murmuring something about getting towels and slipping away.
“I found her out in the rain, all by herself. She was trying to hide in one of the bushes out front, but it was so windy it wasn’t giving her much shelter, not to mention the mud. I went out to save her, but I think I scared her a bit too ‘cause she tried to run away, but she slipped in the mud, and then I slipped when I went after her, so I got kinda muddy too, but I caught her and wrapped her in my jacket so she wouldn’t get wet anymore—”
Kate’s chatter was both excited and fast-paced, and Milligan took a welcome moment to compose himself while she got all of the story out. He loved Kate and her boundless energy for all kinds of adventure, but dealing with her sudden bursts of chaos so late at night could be tiring.
“Katie-Cat,” He held up a hand as she came to the end of a ramble detailing the merits of chicken wire versus chain link fence, and she paused,watching him expectantly. “I am very glad that you were able to rescue your friend, but we should probably get the both of you dried off before we discuss anymore.”
Kate opened her mouth to protest, but seemed to reconsider when Moocho appeared, bearing fresh towels. “Okay.” She said, glancing at Milligan as she accepted a towel and began covering up the chicken, handing her still-dripping rain jacket to Moocho.
“I meant it when I said both of you.” Milligan smiled as he took the remaining towel and wrapped it around Kate’s shoulders.
Moocho deftly folded the jacket, nodding at the others. “I’ll go hang this up, and see if I can’t find a basket for the newest member of our little family. There’s hot chocolate in the kitchen.”
He moved swiftly off into the house, Milligan calling after him, “Now, we haven’t decided we’re keeping the bird yet. There’s no need to call her part of the family.” He turned back to Kate, who was sitting against the wall, towel hanging loosely off her shoulders as she tenderly dried the damp hen in her lap. She looked up at him with a big smile, eyes dancing.
“We’re keeping her, aren’t we?” He said under his breath, to no one in particular.
~~~~~
“And this is the leader of the flock, Her Imperial Highness the Empress of All Fowl, but we just call her ‘Emmie’ for short.” Kate scooped her prized hen into her arms and gave her a gentle squeeze, the chicken making a quiet, contended clucking as she was held.
Tucking the bird under one arm, Kate continued leading the group toward the henhouse. With a grand sweep of her free hand, she showed off a little team of chickens pulling a cart of grain. “This is one of my pet projects.” She grinned at her friends, waiting for them to get the joke.
“How did you teach them to do that?” Sticky queried, looking impressed.
“It wasn’t that hard,” Kate shrugged, “I had a lot of experience working with the animal trainer at the circus. The hard part was convincing Milligan to get Emmie a flock so she wouldn’t be lonely.”
“Doesn’t Madge like her?” Reynie sounded surprised.
“No, peregrine falcons don’t really get along with chickens, being birds of prey and all.” Kate made a face. “I lost two of the hens before the lesson got through to her.”
The boys looked somber for a moment, before Constance burst out “Oh, I get it! Because the chickens are your pets.”
Kate beamed at her, and even the hens seemed to join in with the kids’ boisterous laughter.
What's going on in the doodles you posted of Gary, Michael, and bristly I guess
I'm going with the assumption that you're talking about the doodles where Bristly is holding Michael upside down in front of Gary. Pics and description below the cut.
These were a series of doodles I did while messing arorund with a few different ideas back some time in June I think.
The general premise is that about a month into Bristly's reign, Gary finally had enough & managed to split from his group. He managed by himself for a couple of days before Bristly decided to take Michael away from Lauren and toss him in with Gary instead. Literally for the drama of it all.
Here, in an old house Gary's bunkered himself in, Bristly drops Michael down with not much warning other than "new playmate for you."
It's very awkward, they haven't seen each other in a month, they didn't really leave off on the best terms, and it seems like Bristly knew that well enough to concoct a perfectly tense & weird amount of friction between them to boot.
Here, Gary is a bit wary of Michael's sudden appearance, not having been subjected to much to Bristly's dollhouse-like games yet. It's confusing and unnerving, but more than anything it's just... uncomfortable, because all Bristly does for a good several minutes is keep Michael hanging there. Like. Gary isn't sure how he can help, but he also shouldn't just walk away either, so... Yeah just. Awkward o<o
Eventually though, after conversation runs dry and Michael seems to be getting light headed, Bristly lets him go to "let you [two] have fun alone together."
This sudden action kicks Gary into alert, whips out his switchblade defensively, to which Bristly's like oh yeah so scared lol. Anyway *goes up*
Gary knows by now Bristly will never be a battle he can beat on his own, so he gives it a rest. Has to come to terms with the fact that someone is with him again, and that that someone is a guy whom of which he's had a rather intimately awkward encounter with, not all that long ago either. 😳 yes, like that.
He's quick to diss Bristly once he's no longer breathing down their necks, and they can relate for a moment that they both very much dislike the guy. Obviously.
Gary's not so welcoming to Michael though, would rather be alone, tries to remain dismissive and distant like always. Barely 5 minutes alone with Gary and Michael's already like. Upset. And in his head rn he's like wow this is gonna be so awesome.
Gary leaves to another room to let Michael adjust on his lonesome. Out of frame Michael is looking up to the hole in the ceiling Bristly left from, and Bristly is still peeking out to watch. So Michael isn't keen on staying in this room either.
Andddd the only direction he can go to evade Bristly's watchful eyes is the same way Gary went. So yeah. This'll all end up swell for them!!!! (thats his hopeless sarcasm)
That's all I have on these doodles. You can tell by the last several panels I sorta ran out of steam ^^;. Honestly a lot of what I wanted to draw was just that first panel, I wanted to draw Michael upside down and nervous, and I wanted to draw Gary's hair swoop growing out just slightly. Better cut that bitch soon before it turns back into a swirl, dude!!!
Hope this quells your inquiry.
#some of these panels i dont think i had ever shown#because they're so sparse#but I'm fine with them out there if they're under a readmore ig#call my ass bristly bc i love to put bitches in Situations#especially you michael
WIP Wednesday- Spirit Tracks AU
So, I haven’t been in the state for a bit, and haven’t been doing a ton of updates, but here’s kinda what’s going on: Dance With Me, I hit some writers block attempting to write from point A to B kind of thing, so that’s why that’s a delay, Pirates is almost totally edited, One Knight I think I might be able to post ch 2 tomorrow, I walk beside you chapter is almost done so I’m thinking this weekend for that, and I have one of the prompts nearly done so that might also be tomorrow!
ANYWAY This is the start of my spirit tracks AU that I started once I drew an aged up engineer Link and spirit Zelda and I’m coloring them now, but here was the doodle! And here is 1500 words of the first chapter lol
~~
The sound of the train whistle had Princess Zelda’s ears perking up. Since she was a child, whenever the high pitch of the steam blowing out so loudly and with such a burning heat that it screamed, Zelda would run to the window to watch it race by.
How it must feel to go wherever you please, she thought bitterly, determined to ignore the train this time. There was no point in getting excited. It’s not like she was ever allowed to go anywhere. Her parents simply didn’t allow it.
“You’re too important,” her mother would say before kissing her hair. “To Hyrule, and to me.”
And her father would sit outside with her and name each train, guess the destinations, and teach Zelda every car. But never was she allowed to go inside a moving one.
The train whistled again, closer this time. It was nearing the gate.
“Ugh,” Zelda moaned, tossing her long blonde hair over her shoulder and conceding to the call of the train.
She gathered up her long pink dress, still dressed up from a meeting earlier, though she forwent the crown. That was always so excessive.
With a sigh, she tossed the paperwork she’d been filling out into a folder and let it land on her desk with a heavy plop before rushing down the hall and out to the parapets for a better view of the station.
“Princess?” a guard asked, turning curiously as she threw herself comfortably against the stone.
“Yes?”
“Uh. Nothing. Never mind, Princess.”
Zelda smiled coyly before watching the train pull into the station. A freighter. There would be no passengers disembarking, but she could still come up with a story:
The train had just come from the Anouki region, and the engineer was a genius who knew exactly when to brake because there would be less friction to slow it down after all the ice and snow had saturated the wheels. She’d been doing it for years, so none of the cargo would move an inch, and when she came out of the train, her short black hair would be spiked with sweat. But the engineer wouldn’t care; she had more important things to do. She’d unload the cargo and be on her way to the forest for her next adventure.
Of course, Zelda’s story was all shattered in an instant when she saw the blurry figure in the distance was a blonde and a tall man. Too far to see anything else, she rested her chin in her hand and amended her story for hair color and a second engineer.
“Princess…” the guard said, hesitating. “Is there something you’d like me to do? Do you want privacy up here?”
Ruefully, Zelda smirked. “Oh, if only. However, there’s no such thing.”
The guard stood straight and bowed. “The illusion of it, then,” he said before walking away from her, taking up a post far away on the parapet where he could still keep an eye on everything.
She appreciated that. Truly.
Stories raced through her head as she watched the commotion as store clerks picked up their wares, gatherers watched the train itself, and even, it seems, friends came to visit the two who ran the train.
An older woman handed the younger engineer something, and Zelda could see them pop it into their mouth.
It was all standard, but still some of the most excitement Zelda usually got to bear witness to. A wistful sigh escaped as she wished for something more.
And then, something more happened.
The two engineers headed towards the castle.
No one ever came in. But there they were, each carrying a load of something on their shoulder. The blonde trailed behind a much taller, bulkier man in red coveralls and an even redder bandana over his head. He hulled inside, muscles bulging with the weight of his cargo.
The second was far less intimidating.
A young blonde man stepped into the courtyard, navy blue coveralls and a red hat with the train company’s logo on it, and thick gloves were just some of what adorned him. His hair looked messy under his hat, and a piece was in his eyes, but his two hands were occupied holding one of the sacks, struggling more than the other man was, but still carrying far more than Zelda estimated she could carry.
And he was young. Her age, perhaps. Maybe a little older, if he was an engineer. He was the one she’d seen step out of the train car earlier, the one steering. Goddess, she thought people had to be at least in their thirties before they could become the operator of such a complex vehicle. This man didn’t look even close.
And, Zelda noted with interest as she made herself comfortable on the parapet, hand on her cheek, he was cute.
The engineer stopped to readjust the sack on his shoulder, shimmying it into a more comfortable position, when the sun caught his eye. He flinched away, turning his face in the other direction.
And locked eyes with Zelda.
She felt her heart flutter. Oh, he most certainly was cute. Bright blue eyes the color of the clear sky met hers, and instantly, he seemed to melt. His mouth dropped, jaw slack, eyes wide. He went from unblinking, to several flustered ones in a row, to staring again. And she could see the harsh bob of his Adam’s apple after a few seconds.
Under his gaze, she found herself pushing her windswept blonde hair out of her face, and returned her attention to him, smiling widely and invitingly.
Perhaps it worked too well.
The man took a step towards the door, crooked as he was with his neck still craned at Zelda, and his feet twisted around each other, sending him wobbling. He seemed to catch his balance, but his sack tilted him further until he was flat on the ground. It ripped open, and hundreds of small pieces of— Zelda was too far away to see— scattered across the courtyard.
“Oh no,” Zelda breathed, pushing herself off the parapet and into the halls. She ran quickly, moving in a very un-ladylike way past several working maids, councilors, and footmen. But once the stone interior passed, she was in teh green garden of the courtyard and threw herself onto her hands and knees beside the man. “I”m so sorry!” She said, grabbing a…
“Coal,” he filled in, noticing her odd look. His voice was lower than she expected. But his blue eyes caught her once again, and gods, he was even more attractive up close. If he wasn’t, his beat red expression certainty would have endeared him to her immediately regardless. “You have nothing to be sorry for. I was clumsy. Wasn’t watching where I was going.”
She handed him several chunks of coal, her stained hands brushing his warm ones, charged with a sort of electricity that shocked them both.
“Sorry,” he said with a soft laugh.”
“You have nothing to be sorry for,” she teased, grinning as she picked up several more. “Are you the engineer of that train that just came in?”
He grinned to himself, turning his face away to hide it, but Zelda saw it all the same. “Co-engineer. Alfonso has been doing it far longer than I have. And he doesn’t trip over nothing.”
She handed him another pile, their hands shocking once again. But she was intent to ignore it. “So I have the fortune of meeting the clumsiest engineer by the name of…”
“Right, sorry,” he chuckled. He held out his hand. “Link.”
She took it, reveling in the warmth and the shock even through his gloves. It was unlike anything she’d ever experienced. There was something odd about this Link.
“And you are?” he prodded.
Zelda must not have hidden her shock well, because his brow quirked up. She fumbled for her crown, remembering that she’d left it off, and glanced down at her simple dress, de-ornamentalized from her earlier meeting. No, she simply looked like a noble right now.
“Oh! I’m—“
“Princess Zelda, what in the world are you doing?” shrieked the horrified voice of Chancellor Cole. A short man, but the second in power only after the Royal Family, he had a commanding presence, despite his un-intimidating voice and form. She did quite like the hats he wore, but aside from that, there was little else about him that she liked.
“Princess?” Link echoed, scampering to his feet before immediately kneeling down once again, bowing his head. “Forgive me! I didn’t realize…”
“No, Link, it’s okay! Stand up.” She urged him up with her hand, again, surprised by the shock that still jolted her. “Chancellor,” she added, spinning to face the short man. “Please have someone fetch a new sack for this man’s inventory. I tore it in my haste and he’s in need of a new one.”
“Why were you running—“
“Chancellor. A sack, please.”
Allies, Pt. 9
The Northern Air Temple
Pairing: Sokka x F Reader Warnings: None Word Count: 3,813 Summary: You thought that the chance of there being Airbenders other than Aang was too good to be true, sadly you were right.
Note: How I completely forgot about this until now I'm not sure but! Another piece of this series I’ve done for the fun of it is outfit designs- If that kind of things in fics isn’t your cup of tea then feel free to act like these don't exist! But for those who are interested or who might just wanna see; here you go. This is just what I personally envisioned while writing, again feel free to ignore it if you want, but I figured I might as well share :) I was also going to wait until tomorrow to post this bc Wednesdays is my upload day for it on Ao3 but I’m also a chapter ahead there and wanted to get my tumblr uploads caught up- so back to back post today and tomorrow :) Yay
“So, travelers, the next time you think you hear a strange large bird talking, take a closer look, it might not be a giant parrot, but a flying man! A member of a secret group of air walkers who laugh at gravity and laugh at those bound to the earth by it!” Aang smiled. “Aren’t airbender stories the best?” “Was it realistic? Was that how it was back then?” Katara questioned. “I laugh at gravity all the time. Haha! Gravity.” A pair of hands holding a hat suddenly appeared in the space inbetween Sokka and Y/n. The storyteller shook the hat, the jingling of coins being heard. “Jingle, jingle.” The two searched their pockets for any money. Y/n didn’t have anything, and the only thing Sokka pulled from his coat pocket was a small ball of lint and a bug. Y/n offered the storyteller a sheepish smile. “Sorry.” “Aww. Cheapskates!” The man left them, going to ask other audience members for donations. She turned to look at Sokka, a disgusted expression apparent on her face at the bug that wiggled around in his hand. “Why… was there a bug in your coat?” “Hey! Don’t question a man and his bug.” The bug rolled over, and started to crawl up his hand. Sokka yelped and shook it off. Her expression twisted into amusement. “A man and his bug, huh?” “It’s not my fault we can’t afford to keep him fed.”
The next morning, the group found themselves on the way to the Northern Air Temple. Apparently, the airbenders in the story they heard were seen the previous week. It seemed a little too good to be true, that there might be airbenders other than Aang still out there, but Y/n wasn’t going to be the one to crush the kids' hope. That was Sokka’s job, not hers. “Hey, we’re almost at the Northern Air Temple! This is where they had the championships for sky bison polo.” Y/n looked at Aang with a smile. “Sky bison polo? That sounds fun.” “It is fun! So much fun!” Katara moved to sit next to her brother. “Do you think we’ll really find airbenders?” “You want me to be like you, or totally honest?” Sokka asked, focusing on whittling a piece of wood. “Are you saying I’m a liar?” Katara crossed her arms over her chest. “I’m saying you’re an optimist. Same thing basically.” “They’re not the same thing at all.” Y/n commented. The boy just shrugged his shoulders. “Hey guys, look at this!” Appa was starting to approach the Northern Air Temple. It sat up on a sheer peak, several people flew around it, and smoke rose from a few pillars. “Huh! They really are airbenders!” Aang leaned, crossing his arms unhappily. “No, they’re not.” Sokka pointed up at the people flying around. “What do you mean they’re not? Those guys are flying!” “Gliding maybe, but not flying. You can tell by the way they move. They’re not airbending. Those people have no spirit.” Y/n tipped her head to the side, watching the gliders. “I mean, they look like they're flying to me, but you would know best.” As she finished speaking, a glider passed over the group's heads, nearly taking them off. The glider’s pilot laughed, turning to pass by Appa again. Getting a closer look at the kid, it could be noted that his glider was built out of the wheelchair he sat in. Katara pointed in the glider’s direction. “I don’t know, Aang. That kid seems pretty spirited!” The glider made another pass, and soon Aang was standing up glider in hand, before taking off. Another glider flew in front of Appa, startling him and causing Katara and Y/n to fall backwards into Sokka. The three grunted at the impact. “We better find some solid ground before it finds us!” Appa made a landing on one of the temple’s outer terraces, the trio getting off him and watching as Aang and the boy in the wheelchair glided through the sky. Aang eventually came down and landed next to them, the other boy also coming to a landing. A few kids came other and detached the glider from his wheelchair, before he wheeled over to the group. “Hey! You’re a real airbender! You must be the Avatar! That’s amazing! I- I- I’ve heard stories about you.” Aang rubbed at the back of his neck, embarrassed. “Thanks.” “Wow! This glider chair is incredible!” Sokka rushed over to the kids who had the glider setup, inspecting it. “If you think this is good, wait until you see the other stuff my Dad designed.” He began to wheel away, the group following. They were led through the huge main gate of the temple, into the main chamber. The room was dominated by steam-powered machinery with many wheels, gears and pipes. “Wow!” Sokka ran forward, looking around the room excitedly. “Yeah, my dad is the mastermind behind this whole place! Everything’s powered by hot air. It even pumps hot air currents outside to give us a lift when we’re gliding.” Aang took a look around. “This place is unbelievable.” The boy in the wheelchair smiled. “Yeah, it’s great isn’t it?” “No, just unbelievable.” Y/n tried to hold back a laugh, clearing her throat to force down her laughter. “Aang used to come here a long time ago. I think he’s a little shocked it’s so… different.” Katara said, before following after Aang when he walked off. “So better!” Rolling her eyes, Y/n elbowed Sokka in the shoulder. He gave her a look. “Come on, you don’t think this is cool at all?” “Not really.”
Soon they followed the boy, Teo, to another part of the temple. This time it was a courtyard of sorts, it was untouched, and there were statues of airbenders. Aang was much happier about this, than he had been about the other room. “It’s nice to see even one part of the temple that isn’t ruined.” He spoke, as him, Y/n and Katara looked at a huge statue of an airbender monk. “Look out!” A voice shouted out, shortly before a wrecking ball crashed through the statue. The three flew backwards with the debris, and everyone started to cough from the dust. As the dust settled, several people could be seen through the hole that’d been created. One of the people walked forward, a middle aged man with a mostly bald head who wore a monocle, a green tunic and an apron. “What the doodle! Don’t you know enough to stay away from construction sites? We have to make room for the bathhouse!” “Do you know what you just did? You just destroyed something sacred! For a stupid bathhouse!” Aang, clearly upset with the man, took on an airbending stance. The man waved a hand in front of his nose. “Well, people around here are starting to stink.” Aang pointed at him. “This whole place stinks!” He slammed his staff against the ground, sending a strong gust of wind through the hole in the wall, knocking the wrecking ball and it’s rig off the building's foundation. “This is a sacred temple! You can’t treat it this way. I’ve seen it when the monks were here. I know what it’s supposed to be like.” “The monks? But you’re twelve!” Teo wheeled over. “Dad, he’s the Avatar. He used to come here a hundred years ago.” Aang walked closer to the man. “What are you doing? Who said you could be here?” “Hmmm… doing here… A long time ago, but not a hundred years, my people became refugees after a terrible flood.” He gestured his arms for effect, before moving to stand behind his son. “My infant son, Teo, was badly hurt and lost his mother.” Sniffling, he held back tears. “I needed somewhere to rebuild and I stumbled across this place. Couldn’t believe it! Everywhere pictures of flying people. But empty! Nobody home! Then I came across these fan like contraptions!” He held his arms out as if they were wings, making flying motions with them as he walked about the courtyard for a short moment. He stopped in front of Aang, who was clearly still upset. “Our gliders.” “Yes, little light flying machines. They gave me an idea. Build a new life for my son, in the air! Then everyone would be on equal ground, so to speak! We’re just in the process of improving upon what’s already here and after all, isn’t that what nature does?” Aang was still upset, while Sokka and Katara stood behind him, teary eyed from the story. Y/n rolled her eyes at the siblings, before moving to stand next to Aang, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. Sure, the story was sad, but to her the boy’s feelings were more important. The Mechanist turned to look through the hole in the wall he’d created. “I suppose that’s true. Unfortunately, progress has a way of getting away from us.” He looked down in a bout of sadness, before his head snapped up to look at an odd candle device..? A bit aways from them. “Look at the time!” Three candles burned brightly on a stone pedestal, each separated into their own sections. Next to the pedestal, a large mallet rests, sitting head down. The Mechanist turned to one of the scribes behind him. “Come the pulley system must be oiled before dark.” Sokka approached the candles, observing them. “Wait, how can you tell the time from that thing? The notches all look the same.” “The candle will tell us. Watch.” The candle’s flame snapped four times in a row. “You put spark powder in the candle!” “Four flashes, so it’s exactly four hours past midday, or, as I call it, four o’candle!” Sokka let out a laugh, as The Mechanist looked at him, seemingly pleased he was interested. “If you like that, wait till you see my finger safe knife sharpener!” Y/n’s attention moved to the man at the mention of that, watching as he held up his left hand, where three of his fingers were made of wood. He detached them from his hand, before tossing them to Sokka. “Only took me three tries to get it right!” Sokka let out a scream, as he caught the wooden fingers. “Follow me!” The Mechanist turned to leave, the men who were with him and Sokka quickly followed. As the boy passed by Y/n, he grabbed onto her wrist and dragged her along with him. She offered a quick goodbye wave to Aang, Katara and Teo as she was dragged away.
Quiet steps echoed through the narrow hallway, as Y/n, Sokka and The Mechanist descending a narrow staircase. Each of them held a lantern, glowing with sparse blue light. “These lanterns are terrible! I can’t see.” Y/n ran into Sokka’s back, as he abruptly stopped to open the jar to his lantern. She flicked the back of his head, as he continued to speak. “Why would you want to use fireflies for light- Hey!” She snickered, watching the firefly that escaped from his lantern. The Mechanist turned to look at them. “Hey, close that up! They’ll get loose. Fireflies are a non-flammable light source.” “Are you meaning to say that something down here is flammable?” Y/n asked, as they all continued walking. “Well, why else would I need a non-flammable light source?” The Mechanist offered a chuckle, as they approached a door. The edges of it were blocked by some sort of sealant, which he felt around, probably to check for leaks. After checking he turned back to them. “Cover your nose and hold your breath.” Once they’d done so, The Mechanist slid open a panel in the door, which they all looked through. It just showed a dark and empty room. “Okay, so you brought us all the way down here to see an empty room.” Sokka spoke with a somewhat confused tone. “Wrong.” Eyebrows furrowing together, Y/n watched as the panel was slid shut again. “You brought us all the way down here to see a room full of flammable explosive gas?” “Correct! It’s filled to the brim with natural gas. Came across it my first time here. Unfortunately, I was carrying a torch at the time. Nearly blew myself and the whole place even more sky high. Thought my eyebrows would never grow back! Anyway, there’s a vital problem that needs solving. From time to time we have gas leaks and they’re nearly impossible to find.” Y/n took a few steps back, as Sokka helped check the door for leaks. “So this place is an explosion waiting to happen?” “Yes, until I figure out how to locate something I can’t see, hear, smell or touch.” “Right, is it safe for us to be around this gas? Should we be wearing masks or something, in case we come across a leak so we don’t, you know, inhale it?” “Oh don’t worry, we should be fine.” The Mechanist paused for a moment, straightening up after finishing checking for leaks. “Well, as long as you aren’t a firebender or something- hah!” He let out a laugh, which Sokka quickly shared. Sokka nudged her in the arm, as they started walking back. “Oh come on, that was funny. You know that was funny.” “Yeah, hilarious.” He threw an arm over her shoulders. “Come on, loosen up. We’re gonna be fine, even if we do come across a leak.” She put her hands up in defense. “Okay, okay.”
The Mechanist led the pair to his workshop, and very clearly told them not to touch anything, before going to look over some papers on his desk. Sokka, of course, did not listen to that and started poking through things the moment the man's attention wasn’t on them. “Sokka, he said not to touch anything.” Y/n whispered, smacking his hand away from something he was about to mess with. He gently pushed her away a bit, before going right back to poking around. “Calm down, it’s fine. It’s not like I’m going to break an-” Sokka cut himself off, as he knocked some stuff over. Grimacing, he tried to keep it from falling to the ground. “I said don’t touch anything!” When The Mechanist spoke up, Sokka dropped the things to the ground. Y/n crossed her arms over her chest. “Not gonna break anything, huh?” The Mechanist came over, to help Sokka pick the things up. “Oh, don’t worry, that experiment is old and that egg was just part of last week’s lunch.” Y/n kneeled down to help them too, as Sokka sniffed the air. “Ugh! Week old egg smell!” “Quick! Find that egg!” The three started to crawl around, looking for the egg, but none of them were having much luck. “How could something that’s so small you can’t even see it make such a big stink!?” Sokka complained as they looked. The Mechanist perked up at the comment. “That’s the solution to our problem!” “Yeah!” Y/n looked at the two, confused, as they faced each other with excitement. “What?” “If we put a whole mess of rotten eggs in the cellar where the gas seeps up..” Sokka started the thought, which The Mechanist continued. “The gas will mix with the smell of rotten eggs…” “Then, if there’s a leak…” “You smell rotten eggs! Then you just follow your nose to the place where the smell is coming from..” “And plug up the hole where the gas is escaping!” “You’re a genius!” The two spoke in unison. Still, Y/n looked between the two with a confused expression. “ What? ” Suddenly, a large bell started to ring, and The Mechanist was quick to get up and rush from the room. “Something’s wrong I’ve got to go.” “Wonder what that’s about.” Sokka said, getting up himself. He helped Y/n up, grinning. “We should follow him.” “Always a snoop, huh?” Laughing softly, she shook her head. “Alright.” Grasping onto her wrist, he dragged her out of the room to follow after The Mechanist. They’d followed him to another room, one that was filled to the brim with different war machines branded with the Fire Nation’s insignia.
“You make weapons for the Fire Nation!?” Sokka was clearly angry with his words, rightfully so. Y/n was pretty mad about this development as well. She pointed a finger at The Mechanist. “You! You're terrible. Horrible terrible!” The Mechanist looked at the ground in humiliation and shame. Teo looked at his father angrily. “Explain all this! Now!” “It was about a year after we moved here. Fire Nation soldiers found our settlement. You were too young to remember this tale. They were going to destroy everything, burn it to the ground. I pleaded with them, begged them to spare us. They asked what I had to offer. I offered… my services. You must understand, I did this for you!” Teo turned his wheelchair away, clearly upset. The Mechanist turned on his heel, and walked back down the hall, leaving the five kids in the room. Teo shook his head. “I can’t believe this…. This is terrible.” “I know..” Aang looked at the weapons with disdain. “There’s so much here.” Y/n crossed her arms over her chest. “The Fire Nation could be coming for this soon…” Aang breathed out a sigh. “Your right… I’m going to go figure it out.” “I’ll come with.” Teo said, as Aang started to leave the room, before following the boy. With Aang and Teo’s return, they found out that the Fire Nation was coming soon. And they were intending to burn this place to the ground. They were all outside on one of the walkways, trying to figure out a plan. “This is bad! Very bad!” Katara looked over to Aang. “Aang, what are we gonna do? How can we possibly keep them all away?” “I’ll tell you how.” He pointed to the sky. “We have something they don’t. Air power! We control the sky. That’s something the Fire Nation can’t do. We can win!” “I want to help.” The Mechanist approached the group, as he spoke up. Aang offered the man a smile. “Good, we’ll need it.”
“We finally got the war balloon working, thanks to Sokka. This boy’s a genius!” “Thank you. You’re a genius!” “Thank you!” Y/n rolled her eyes at the exchange. “Can we get on with this?” Sokka cleared his throat. “Right. See, the problem with the old war balloon was you could get it airborne, but once you did, it just kept going.” He demonstrated with a model that flew up and hit the ceiling. “You could put a hole in the top, but then all the hot air would escape. So the question became, how do you keep a lid on hot air?” “Ugh, if only we knew.” Katara commented. Y/n, Aang, Teo and Katara herself all laughed at the remark. Ignoring them, Sokka pulled the model down from the ceiling, now showing off the mechanism to open and close a lid on the top. “A lid is actually the answer. If you control the hot air, you control the war balloon.” He demonstrated again, but this time the model didn’t fly up to the ceiling, thanks to the lid that could be pulled open with a string. Katara crossed her arms. “Hmm. That’s actually pretty smart.” “Okay, we’ve got four kinds of bombs. Smoke, smile, fire and-” The Mechanist cut Sokka off. “Stink. Never underestimate the power of stink!”
“We’re going to have to modify this to the new design, and fast.” The Mechanist said, as him, Sokka and Y/n worked on bringing the War Balloon he’d already constructed outside. “With both of you helping we should be able to get it up and running pretty quickly though!” “Yeah! And I’m pretty sure Aang and Katara will be able to hold off the Fire Nation with everyone’s help.” Y/n furrowed her eyebrows. “They’ll be able to hold them off, but we can’t count on them too for too long, even if we have the skies. The Fire Nation’s army is huge, who knows how many soldiers will show up.” They got the balloon set up to do the necessary modifications. “Oh she’s right, time is not something we have on our side right now.” Sokka nodded in understanding. “Right. It’s only one modification though, so it can’t take terribly long, right?” “Let’s hope not.” Getting to work on the War Balloon, they probably could have gotten things done a little faster. But nonetheless, they got it done, and just in time too apparently. While Sokka and The Mechanist got ready to take off in the war balloon, Y/n went to find the others to see how they were holding up. “How are things going out here?” She asked, once she found Katara, Aang and Teo. The three looked at her with slight concern. “Not well.” Katara started. “Please tell us Sokka is coming with that war balloon soon.” Before she could give an answer, the war balloon rose up from behind them all, and started moving towards the battle field. From where they all stood, they could see Sokka and The Mechanist dropping giant slime bombs onto the Fire Nation soldiers. The bombs that they had didn’t stop the soldiers, however, and they were starting to advance closer to the Temple. Katara put a hand on Y/n’s shoulder, to get her attention. “What are they doing..?” She squinted in the direction of the war balloon, trying to see what was going on. “I’m not sur-” She cut herself off, watching as something fell from the basket of the war balloon. Was that the balloons fuel source? “Did they just push out their fuel source..?!” “What?!” A sudden explosion set off, a really really big one. The entire Temple got clouded in a ginormous wall of grey smoke. When the smoke dissipated, it was revealed that the Fire Nation was retreating. Aang pointed to where the army was leaving. “Look! They’re retreating!” Everyone started to cheer at the success, but the joy was cut short, as the war balloon started heading downwards quickly. Thankfully though, Aang was able to get Sokka and The Mechanist before the balloon crashed below. Currently, they all stood outside on the main terrace of the Air Temple. “You know what? I’m really glad you guys all live here now. It’s like the hermit crab.” Aang spoke, as he carefully picked up one of the hermit crabs near them all. “Maybe you weren’t born here, but you found this empty shell and made it your home. And now you protect each other.” Teo offered a smile to the boy. “That means a lot coming from you.” “Aang you were right about air power.” Sokka pointed to the sky. “As long as we’ve got the skies we’ll have the Fire Nation on the run!”
Okay- here we go-
The Steampunk Minish AU
I'll leave a whole bunch of explanations under the cut because it's a mess. There's a lot....
Okay getting the minish themselves out of the way first- these are just three of them.
So first off is the minish girl with a mini guardian sword. She's the reason it turned into spirit tracks brainrot so it was fitting to give her an outfit based off of the engineers outfit.
She has a grappling hook as well, which is mostly for scaling up tables, chairs, and bookshelves in the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. And the guardian sword, due to being effective against guardians, is used to sever connections inside of them.
I had a sibling ask (around the vaatea au) if the minish used acorns as coffee cups so she has coffee in an acorn. She needs it.
Next is this guy. I honestly haven't put much thought into him except he's probably alot older than he looks. Also I think he'd vibe with Robbie in Akkala. Those goggles he has probably move like Robbies do as well.
He was also the one who made the little guardian sword.
Oh and his tail is under his clothes. It's probably so it doesn't get in the way.
Alright- my personal favorite and also the one that will probably out me on discord cause they're based off another OC I've already shown off and do not shut up about. Anyway, they're a ray of sunshine.
So they seem to carry a lot of tools on them, some of which can't be seen. They also have a lot of belts on their jacket, which, while it seems like just a fashion statement, I think they have a use. Most likely for holding more tools. The big pockets probably have tiny nuts bolts and screws. Also snacks. They gotta make sure their partner didn't just have coffee for breakfast.
So Purah. She's actually pretty important since, not only is she a scientist, she can see them all as well. I had a theory a while back that she turned into a child to study minish and then that was cut from the game. She can see them but, can't quite understand them at that point. Maybe she makes a translator or finds a jabber nut later.
The minish trying to explain something here might be the first based off of handedness but also might be the first ones mother. The first picture has her speaking minish while the bottom has her drawing out a wrench, glasses, and a sword. The sword might be in reference to the minish cap.
Yep. They still wear leaf cloaks. But they're more for camouflage now. Botw may not have cats that I know of but they do have birds that typically eat mice. And the manga did show that yep animals can see the minish pretty well actually.
Alright- the fun part! It's mostly going to be explanation since- guardians...
Robbie studied guardians mostly so its probably his research that gave the minish the knowledge on their inner workings.
So the first picture has who I think is a younger version of the second minish.
We saw where Link had trouble climbing up sheikah walls and the minish probably had the same problem.
Theres one scene from secret world of Arrietty where they use double sided tape for climbing, and i wanted to use that but I didn't think tape was a thing invented in the zelda universe. And (after an adult timeline and beyond quest) SURE ENOUGH- Spirit Tracks wellspring station. Also possibly Purah or Robbies labs. So... I guess that can be a thing...
Secondly is the guardian labeled dead. It's been taken down. One thing I should mention- I'd like to think that if the active guardian stalkers are closer to towns or roads used regularly there's probably more of a chance that they'd be immobilized.
Plus the thought of the scene from revenge of the sith, with the AT-AT, would probably be cool with a guardian.
The guardians probably would go even more haywire than they already were while trying to shut them down and it's probably better if there isn't a giant spider robot running into one of the stables.
Link ran into this guardian, and knows he didn't take it down. So who or what did...?
There's a third unfinished doodle that I couldn't bring myself to finish, mainly because i couldn't figure out anything about the inside of a guardian. What I know is that there are gears, shafts, springs, and cores. I wanted initially to let them meet the hylian champion but- this link is more of an adult and he probably can't see them.
Finally- I did say it devolved into spirit tracks.
The first picture is a book on New Hyrule, which is covering the Spirit Train, The Hero of Spirits, and Byrne apparently. This book might have been lost somewhere in Hyrule Castle, since I'd like to believe the royal family would keep track of all the legends and history of Hyrule.
Finally, the final picture.
So the minish girl (Okay they all really need names...) is trying to decide on how to power the train. Sheikah technology or Lokomo technology. Two very different technologies.
They are not the same. Not even remotely.
The train she's in the middle of sketching was from the ST concept art. Apparently the book she was reading didn't have much on steam power.
(But that doesn't mean it's the only book. If I had to guess there's most likely a few more books on the technology from new hyrule.)
I'd like to have eventually a train going from Akkala to Hatenos lab, and eventually go across all of Hyrule
Anyway thanks for reading through! I know it was a mess.
grow as we go
For Dick & Damian Week, day 3: adoption papers
cw: grief
When Damian had returned, he had never felt more alone than when he realized he would grieve Richard by himself.
Read on Ao3
Grief is a lingering thing.
Damian discovered it when the weather changed.
He slid out of bed the same way he did every morning. The old Manor let in a draft that brought Gotham’s chill with it, and Damian didn’t know why his chest ached.
He ignored the feeling all the way downstairs, and then down more stairs, until he reached the Cave and his feet stilled. They were heavy; sandbags attached to the bottom of his legs.
He stared at the glass case.
He hadn’t looked at it in months. Not since the last time, when he had sobbed himself sick leaning against the memorial, the glass cold and hard against his hot face.
It was so, so far from the embrace he had wanted.
Still, it was the best he had had.
And, still, it was the best he had.
He trudged to the case’s side. Sat. It felt good to be low to the ground. He felt heavy.
He leaned his head to the side, against the glass.
He had thought this was behind him.
Everybody else had already mourned. They were done; it was a trauma processed and dealt with.
Damian didn’t know the date of his death. He missed the public service, and the private service, and the burial after. He missed the nights huddled around steaming mugs in the kitchen, sharing silence and the weight of the sun blinking out of existence. He missed the weekend they spent cleaning up Richard’s apartment, packing away his cherished photographs and trivial doodles and timeworn clothing.
And when Damian had returned, he had never felt more alone than when he realized he would grieve Richard by himself.
Richard liked autumn.
Had liked autumn.
Damian shut his eyes, but it didn’t stop the memory of an autumn afternoon, taking a much younger Titus on a walk. Leaves had crunched under their feet – Richard had gone out of his way to stomp on several of them. He had probably worn one of his baggy sweaters, knit with colorful patterns and stretched at the elbows from use. He had let Damian borrow one that morning, and though it dwarfed him, even with the sleeves rolled back three times, Damian had loved it. He had loved the entire experience, through the idle chatter, the vibrant multicolored scenery, and the homey smell of dirt and leaves and Richard’s shampoo. It had been the first time he had really, truly, felt like he was at home in Gotham.
He hadn’t told Richard any of that.
He wouldn’t get to.
“Damian?”
Damian summed up the energy to wipe the tear tracks from his face. He didn’t look up, even though his skin prickled with the weight of Timothy’s unreadable gaze. He didn’t respond, just dragged himself to his feet to begin his morning workout. He was already behind, and he cared just enough for it to bother him.
Routine. He needed his routine.
A hand caught his shoulder on his way to the mats. “Wait.” The word was quiet, almost whispered into the cool cave air.
“I am behind already.”
The fingers on his shoulder flexed, and relaxed, and fell away completely. “Okay.”
-
After his workout and the shower that always followed, Damian found himself without purpose. He roamed the dark, chilly manor halls, reluctant to return to his room and the loneliness that necessarily followed.
The library door was open, the curtains drawn back to let the wan sun make the dark, cracked leather of the couch glisten. It was more inviting than his own room, at least.
Richard had not been a frequent visitor to the manor’s bookshelves. He had been too busy between his caseload, his day job, and trying to take care of Damian. (Damian knew he had not made it easy for him.) But Richard’s own peculiarities barred him from taking up Bruce’s study after Damian’s father had passed, and the library was the only other room in the vast home that housed a decent desk.
Damian found himself drawn to the room, wishing to see the familiar silhouette of his older brother in the window, or the familiar head of hair peeking over the couch’s arm as he dozed in the midmorning glow.
Except for himself, the room was empty.
Damian floated around the shelves, pretending he wasn’t disappointed that the room felt so hollow. Gone were the sticky notes, the empty mugs of coffee, and the faint smell of Richard’s cologne. The room was perfectly clean. Barren.
His eyes caught on the well-worn spine of a familiar book. The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood. It had been Richard’s favorite, when he was a boy. Despite his cajoling, Damian had never been interested in reading it. (He had called it drivel. What he would give to take back those words, to take the opportunity to spend more time with him now.)
Damian ran his hands over the soft leather, faded by the sun. He could read it now. Reclaim that piece of affection he had dismissed so easily before.
Mind made up, he tugged the book from the shelf.
Something fluttered down to his feet.
Damian watched it, confused at first by the folded papers. They were not yet yellowed with age, like the pages of the book were, but they were creased in a practiced way, the way that only came from unfolding and refolding a document over and over again.
He stooped to pick up the small packet. Flipped it over.
“To Damian”
It was Richard’s handwriting. Nicer than that he had used for his notes and scribbles, more genuine than the style he had adopted for his signature. Damian traced the words, unable to move past them.
To Damian.
This was something for him.
Hands trembling slightly now, Damian slid one finger into the packet to reverently unfurl the papers along the first crease, then the second.
It was a note.
Damian,
I know I’m not what you expected when you came to Gotham. I’m not Bruce in any of the ways that matter. (You’ve told me.) But you’ve grown so much since the first time I met you, and I know I can’t take credit for it, but I can be proud.
When Bruce took me in, he promised me he wouldn’t try to replace my parents. I can’t replace your dad, but I have learned through experience that there’s always room for more family, even if it’s a little unconventional. You’re my family now, and nothing you do, no decision you make, can ever change that.
A fat tear smeared the ink on a few words. Damian sniffed and tried to wipe his face with his shoulder to prevent further damage. His shirt was quickly soaked through. He held his breath, trying to quiet the sobs that bobbed in the back of his throat.
Through watery eyes, he scanned the last lines of the note.
I’m so proud of the person you are, and I can’t wait to see the person you’re becoming.
Love, Dick (Richard)
Damian sank into a crouch, and from there back until he was propped against the bookshelf. The uneven spines of books dug into his back, providing points of pressure against his uncontrollable hitched breathing.
He was sick of crying, but there was something different about this. The tears helped. The gasps and sobs hurt, but they snapped some of the tight bands around his chest. Even as he scrubbed at his running nose, he realized that his throat was finally clear.
He gently set the pages on the floor to hug himself.
“I’m so proud of the person you are, and I can’t wait to see the person you’re becoming.” He repeated the sacred words like a mantra, uncaring who may overhear.
When he finally got himself under control, he felt lighter than he had in weeks. Wiping away the last of the water clinging to his lashes, he picked up the packet and flipped to the next page.
At first, he didn’t understand what he was looking at. But as the realization set in, he bit down on the palm of his hand, using the feeling to ground him in the sudden, unexpected glow of peace.
They were adoption papers. Dated for a week before his father’s return, so long ago. Richard had already signed. And over Damian’s empty signature box was a yellowing sticky note:
“Only if you want to. This doesn’t change anything.
“I love you.”
