Happy Holidays - BTS Style
(I seriously cannot tell you guys enough how happy I am that you love 7 Secrets as much as I do! Those characters are so fun and feel real, you know? Anyways, thanks for letting me bring Jin and Kyungsoon back around, they’re so fun!)
1. “It’s fake mistletoe, that doesn’t count!”
19. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to find fresh flowers in the middle of winter?”
It used to be a simple thing, picking out which socks to wear in the morning. Not now, though.
It’s Christmas time, which Kyung-soon realizes means something entirely different for Jin. Where she’s all about decorating the tree, Jin is all about one thing and one thing only: online shopping.
Shopping for fuzzy, holiday themed socks, specifically.
The latest shipment just arrived last night, and Jin had left the package on Kyung-soon’s doorstep once he’d gotten home from a late night interview being broadcast in the US. She’d woken up to a text from him informing her of the new arrival, and Kyung-soon didn’t have to think that hard to guess that it was more socks.
It’s a pack of five, various patterns of Christmas trees, bobsleds, and mistletoe lovingly etched into the fabric. To be completely honest, it’s nice having so many fuzzy socks. Especially now that Jin bought her an extra pair of boots to accommodate her growing collection.
“Seohyun!”
The other girl comes skipping into the room, toothbrush hanging from her mouth. “Hm?”
“Pick my socks for me, will you?”
Giggling knowingly, Seohyun skims over the options while continuing to brush her teeth. “Oooh,” she points to the mistletoe socks, nodding encouragingly.
“Thanks. What are you up to today?”
Seohyun heads back to the bathroom, and a few seconds later she responds. “Well, I finished my essay last night, so now I’ll get to hang out with Yoongs. He said we might be able to go shopping for some decorations! What about you?”
Today is a big day: Ichika and Himari are finally coming back after their week in Japan. By big day Kyung-soon meant she was finally going to get some relief from Hobi and Taehyung’s pouting. She’d brought it up just the other day; that the girls had only been gone for a week. It was also the last time she tried to bring it up.
“I’m not sure, Jin said it was a surprise and to dress warm.” Which is exactly what she was planning on doing. One never knows what to expect with Kim Seokjin. Kyung-soon was just hoping that today wasn’t going to be another attempt at ice fishing.
A knock on the front door lets her know that Jin is here, Beth opening it before Kyung-soon can head downstairs.
“Hey Jin,” Beth chimes. “Here for Soon-ah?”
“Yep. How’s work been? Namjoon said you’ve been super busy.”
The two of them continue on in their small talk, giving Kyung-soon enough time to grab her coat and head down the stairs.
“I’m excited to see what you guys come up with, though. You always do a great job.”
Beth laughs. “Yeah, I’m excited to see what we come up with, too. Oh, there you are!”
Kyung-soon grins down at her soul-sister before turning to greet her soulmate. “Guess which socks I’m wearing today?”
Jin pushes his lips out in a pout as he contemplates all the different options. “I’m assuming they’re the new ones...the snowmen?”
“Nope.” She sticks her foot out, the top of her socks just peeking through. “Mistletoe!”
Jin laughs, grabbing her arm and pulling her forward. “Oh good, that gives me an excuse to kiss you.”
“And that’s my cue,” Beth chuckles as she heads into the other room.
“It’s fake mistletoe, that doesn’t count!” Kyung-soon protests, struggling to get away from Jin’s grasp. Her soulmate laughs, only tugging her closer before pecking a small kiss on the tip of her nose.
“Yah, that wasn’t so bad, was it?” Jin teases, helping Kyung-soon to put on her coat. She rolls her eyes as she scrunches up her nose.
“So where are we going?”
“Let’s hop in the truck, and I’ll tell you.”
Jin recently acquired a truck. He claims that it was all in an act of love for fishing, saying that it’ll be much easier to go now. There’s something else, though, that helped him to make the purchase.
Once he realized the holidays were approaching, he also realized that there was one thing that he was absolutely dying to do with his soulmate. It was something that he’d thought of a year ago.
Sitting in the front room of his apartment, watching the snow fall and listening to Christmas music, there was something missing. There was no Christmas tree.
Sure, they were busy enough, especially around the holidays. Traveling nearly nonstop and just trying to survive, but Jin would have really liked to have a Christmas tree around.
So he bought a truck, he called up some old friends that live near the mountains and own a Christmas tree lot, and managed to order some ornaments while he was buying fuzzy socks.
“Where are we going?” Kyung-soon asks for the third time, watching with furrowed brows as she realizes that Jin is heading outside of Seoul.
“I thought we should buy the boys some flowers that they can give to Ichika and Himari when they fly in tonight,” Jin lies. He keeps his gaze firmly on the road ahead of him, knowing that Kyung-soon will see right through him if she gets a glance at his eyes.
“Then why are we leaving Seoul? There’s plenty of flower shops here. That way we can get them the flowers before they leave for the airport.”
Jin is still certain that Kyung-soon is the smartest person he’s ever met. He’s got to come up with a good coverup if he doesn’t want her finding out about his plans.
“Sure, there’s plenty of places to find flowers in Seoul, but that’s not the point.”
“Then what’s the point?”
Giving his soulmate the most exasperated expression he can manage, Jin sighs out, “Do you have any idea how hard it is to find fresh flowers in the middle of winter?”
Snorting, Kyung-soon leans back in her seat. “And I’m assuming you know just the place?”
“When are you going to start trusting me?”
“Always do, Jinnie.”
It’s about an hour’s drive to his friend’s tree farm, but the ride is filled with questionable singing, a mandatory snack break, and endless stories. They really ought to just go out for drives more often.
When they pull in, Jin watches as Kyung-soon grows steadily more confused. “Jin?”
“Yes, dear?”
Blushing madly at the nickname, Kyung-soon unbuckles her seatbelt. “Are you sure there are even flowers here? It looks like it’s just Christmas trees.”
Chuckling as he jumps out of the truck, Jin watches as Kyung-soon follows suit and hesitantly follows him. “I may have lied.” Jin takes his soulmate’s hand before she can question him further, and starts pulling her along. “What do you say? Want to help me pick out a Christmas tree?”
Jin isn’t sure why he expects lovey dove reactions anymore, Kyung-soon has a bad habit of turning violent when confronted with surprises. He should’ve known, but not all surprises are bad, right?
A sharp elbow to his gut has him deciding that, yes, all surprises are bad and surprisingly violent.
“Ouch! What was that for?!”
“For lying to me!” Kyung-soon is caught between laughing and being angry. “You could’ve just told me!”
“No fun in that.”
Rolling her eyes, Kyung-soon grabs Jin’s hand again. She mumbles something under her breath about someday you’ll get what’s coming to you before clearing her throat. “Alright, what’s our price range?”
Jin gives her a long look. “Soon-ah.”
“Ah, right.”
It takes them a good long time to pick out a tree, although they eventually settle for one that they both think will look great in from of the windows of the living room. They only come to this decision after Jin tells Kyung-soon that he’s a tree whisperer and proceeds to ‘speak for the trees’ for thirty minutes.
They’re busy discussing just how they’ll decorate the tree, Kyung-soon pondering over the different ribbons that are sold at the tree farm when Jin cuts her off with his lips on hers.
The sound of people giggling at the public display of affection has the two of them pulling away and fanning their red faces.
“What was that for?” Kyung-soon asks a little breathlessly. Jin smiles softly down at her, the look in his eyes lighting up the room better than any string of Christmas lights.
“Mistletoe.”
Huffing a sigh and returning to the ribbon, Kyung-soon prays that nobody out here will recognize them. “Jiiin, I told you that my socks don’t count!”
Standing behind her and wrapping an arm around her waist, Jin rests his chin on Kyung-soon’s shoulder and whispers, “Look up.”
Hanging just overhead is a string of holly.
“Jin?”
“Yes?”
“That’s not mistletoe.”
Shrugging, Jin presses another kiss to her burning red cheek. “Close enough.”

The Vmin Christmas song
I have obviously talked about the song Tae showed us last year before (and some of the reasons why I think they might not have been allowed to sing the song together), but I do want to make an update about this and actually go into some things a little bit more after Tae’s recent vlive where he brought it up again. Some of the things in this post might sound a bit delulu but this really isn’t to prove that Vmin is real.
You can say what you will about Vmin, but to me it’s clear Tae wants this song with Jimin, and I will tell you why in this post.
So Taehyung himself talked about and played the Christmas song again in his vlive (It's been forever, too) on 14th of december 2019.
I recommend you read my post Big Hit, BTS, Vmin and LGBT before this, but otherwise a small recap is that on oct 5th last year Tae opened up and talked about a Christmas song he wrote, he showed it to us and told us how he originally wanted to sing it with Jimin. But that the producer said the song wouldn’t fit for two men due to the lyrics, basically acting homophobic and denying Tae to make the song how he originally envisioned, which is him singing it together with Jimin.
I will bring up some things I have talked about in my huge Vmin song analysis Vmin - Scenery, Promise and song connections, so if you want to know more about why I think the way I do regarding some of the things I will talk about in this post you can also check that out. But mostly I will in this post focus on the new vlive and Taehyung’s feelings.
The lyrics of the song are the following:
As you see it’s a very sweet song, but as with many others I personally don’t see much of a reason why Tae can’t sing this song with Jimin like he clearly wants to. Especially considering numerous other examples of members singing romantic lyrics together without it being any problem (NJ and JK with Fools, TH and SJ with Even if I die it’s you, JK and JM with We don’t talk anymore and several other examples). Even Vmin’s own graduation song has some lyrics that seem more romantic than this. It’s likely because this is Taehyung’s own personal song that he has written himself, but still. (Read more in my post Big Hit, BTS, Vmin and LGBT)
However, I want to point out again that we do not know the full story of how and why the producer thought singing the song as a male x male was a bad idea. So I do not think we should just blame or get angry when we don’t really know the context behind it. That being said, it makes me sad. And even more so seeing how Tae brings it up one more time and talks about it again. He also said “Christmas song of ours” and not “mine” which could indicate he too sees it as something not only his own. But who knows. At least him saying it like that makes us know it’s a song he has showed before and that he clearly remembers showing it before. He knows people know about it.
Anyways, first of all I want to say that it does seem that Tae is quite upset that he wasn’t allowed to sing this song with Jimin. Just looking at his reaction in this new vlive as well as in the one from last year that is just the way he comes across. I recommend watching both vlives to get the full context and come to your own conclusion.
youtube
Here is also some of the translations for when he talked about it this time. The thing is that I have seen different translations so I am not sure which one is more accurate. Because they give off very different feelings. But I am inclined to think the one on the official vlive is incorrect as I have seen various accounts point out what Taehyung said, also in combination with his mannerism and the few words of Korean I do understand.
The two main differences about the translations is that in the official one there is no specific mention of it being made as a male/female song and that Taehyung says he definitely wants to release it, while in the fan translations it seem more like he isn’t very enthusiastic about finishing the song and only “might” release it.
So in one translation he really seems like he want to release the song while in the other he seems a bit more reluctant and saying “If I ever finish it” and other things that imply that he is not as enthusiastic about it anymore.
But for me I think it’s more likely that he feels less happy about it and it’s more like he probably won’t release it, but if he does he will release it as a gift for ARMY. My personal belief is that he is sad that he doesn’t get to sing it with Jimin and that’s also why he doesn’t really feel like finishing it. My reasoning behind this is because:
1. Last year when he talked about the song he already said he probably won’t release it.
2. In this new vlive he brought up his feelings about finishing it in combination with hesitation and kinda shaking his head in a way that to me indicates he isn’t too happy. Actually in general he just looks and acts pretty sad in both vlives when talking about it.
3. The song is the exact same as last year meaning he hasn’t worked on it at all since last time. He also started writing the song in 2017, so if he really wanted to finish it he has had plenty of opportunity to do so.
Basically in general there doesn’t seem to be much that motivates him to finish this song anymore.
Here is a small bit of what he said the first time he mentioned the song, but I really suggest watching the vlive for yourself and checking out my other posts about it for more details.
This is a song he started writing over two years ago, but he still has the song on his phone. This to me makes it seem like he actually really likes this song and is proud of it. He also showed it twice now, which also indicates it’s something he is pretty happy with. So, the problem seem to be something else rather than the song itself. And to me I think that is that he doesn’t get to sing it with Jimin.
He did not mention Jimin specifically this time, but if I am to trust the fan translation then he did specifically mention it as a male/female duet, which is why I think that is the main problem Taehyung has with it. He brought it up specifically which means it probably matters, it makes a difference to him. Maybe he simply brought it up because it’s close to Christmas, but he could have showed any song, it didn’t have to be one of his own or one that is unfinished. It was just requested that he play one that won’t have copyright issues.
Something else that I think indicates he really wanted the song to be with Jimin is the fact that he talks about it being a duet despite the lyrics not really having to be one. At least personally I don’t think the song seem like it has to be a duet at all, there are no clear indications (at least not in the translation) that it is sung from two different perspectives. If Tae wanted to I think he could have sung it alone as well. But even though the lyrics doesn’t seem to hint at a duet, it still is one, and that makes me think that Taehyung envisioned this as a piece for him and Jimin to sing together from the start.
I also think it’s possible that he wrote the song with Jimin in mind as the lyrics fit very well with how Taehyung has spoken about Jimin’s smile and a lot of other things that seem to indicate that he writes songs in some kind of relation to Jimin. (Look at my other song analysis for more on this.)
Taehyung also uses the word shine in regards to Jimin quite often.
The lyrics of all of Taehyung’s songs could possibly link to Jimin in various ways, and if you want to know why I think that is possible check out my other song analysis Vmin - Scenery, Promise and song connections and Vmin - Winter Bear analysis. But looking at the Christmas song lyrics the fact that he talks about someone’s smile and also wanting an end to “winter” and shining brighter than the stars (or in 4 o’clock the moon) these things can all in different ways connect back to his other songs and Jimin. There are both some recurring themes as well as Jimin being mentioned in regards to several of Tae’s songs and him fitting the descriptions used in the songs with how Taehyung speaks about him.
Jimin is Taehyung’s star, sun and moon. He shines and is the brightest happiness and Taehyung’s source of light.
(Taehyung has literally described Jimin as a sun)
He really really wants to sing a Christmas song with Jimin, but likely it will never happen. It seems to mean a lot to him because he brings it up and even specifically lets us know he wanted it to be Jimin, but they thought it was unfitting for two men to sing such romantic lyrics.
Basically he really wanted to sing it with Jimin, but since he can’t he has lost the enthusiasm to complete the song. That’s what it looks like to me. You might think otherwise and that’s fine. For me I am more sad for Taehyung’s sake than my own, even though a Vmin Christmas song would have been lovely.
Who knows, maybe one day, it seems Taehyung might still keep trying to make songs and it seems like it’s possible he will also keep making them somehow in relation to Jimin if we look at his past songs.
I think (if I go a bit delulu) that Taehyung really want to make Jimin’s wish for a Christmas gift come true.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed. Despite the rather sad content of this post I want to wish you all Happy Holidays! At least we know Taehyung really wanted to sing this with Jimin and that the love Vmin have for each other is real and strong.
Happy Christmas! I purple you! :) <3

Re-watching Lizzie Mcguire: Episode 1.7 (Here Comes Aaron Carter)
Aaron Carter Hype
- During lunch break, Lizzie storms into the school cafeteria and eagerly informs Gordo and Miranda that tween pop star, Aaron Carter is coming to their town to shoot a Christmas-themed music video. Our favorite ‘know-it-all‘ Gordo doesn’t know who Aaron Carter is. Really, Gordo? You know x,y and z about everything else but you aren’t aware of one of the biggest teen heartthrobs to emerge in the late 90s and early 2000s? Oh wait, it’s because he’s a 13-year old straight boy. No shade though.
- I also want to know why Aaron and his team decided to film their video in that specific town? Where does Lizzie and co. live anyways? I’m thinking it’s some small town in California.
- Lizzie is curious to know where exactly the filming location will be and this opens up the opportunity for Gordo to utilize his knowledge of film and set locations to help her figure it out. Besides meeting him, Lizzie wants to also interview Aaron for the school web-zine and Miranda wants to sing for him in person. Gordo is thinking of using this opportunity to make a behind-the-scenes video of the video shoot.
Brainstorming Session
Let’s go get the tea on this video shoot location
- Our trio are coming up with possible locations for the filming to take place. They do a good job brainstorming places that are big enough for production but the problem is, they have a least a list of 40 locations to narrow down from.
- Matt enters Lizzie’s room and observes what they have been doing and he seems to know where exactly the filming location is because Lanny, his silent but not mute best friend told him. This is the first ever mention of Lanny in the series. I actually like Lanny; He is just as playful and adventurous as Matt but I think he has more charm to him than Matt. I think it’s because he doesn’t talk, like at all lol. But this might be an unpopular opinion.
- I don’t know why they trust in him and Lanny knowing where this place exactly is but regardless, they decide to ask Matt to reveal the location and he will only do that if he is able to come along with them. They agree and he tells them that it will be held at a warehouse and as siblings usually do, Lizzie double crosses Matt and tells him he can’t go but Matt does a comeback and threatens to rat them out to their mom. Lizzie gives in and Matt is able to tag along.
- So what if their mom knows? It’s not like she would be against the idea since Lizzie is planning to interview Aaron for the school web-zine. It’s kinda like a class assignment but only cooler.
Plot Twist
It’s such a random coincidence that Sam got backstage passes from his client
- Sam Mcguire comes home late from work and reveals to Jo that his client gave him 2 backstage passes to Aaron Carter’s Winter Wonderland-themed music video shoot. Jo, elated by this, tells him that they should surprise Lizzie and her pals with those passes but in fact, we know that they are planning to lie to her parents and go to the video shoot and leave a note saying they are out working on a school project. Again, Lizzie should have been honest and told her parents the truth from the get go.
Operation Sneak-In
- Lizzie, her friends and Matt arrive at the compound of Ren-Mar warehouses and they devise a plan to walk right up to the entrance and walk past security like they own the place.
Doesn’t this scene remind you of the Beatles album cover where they were walking along a pedestrian crossing on Abbey Road?
- They do a good job at first but when a security officer lays his eyes on them, they panicked and bumped into one another. He requests for them to show their passes but Lizzie says that she a member of the press and she’s allowed to be there. That’s great and all but when your press badge is a measely piece of paper that looks cheap, it’s just not gonna cut it. And as expected, they are denied entry.
- Sam and Jo Mcguire reads Lizzie’s note about being away for a school project and Jo suggests to her husband to head over first to the video shoot while she waits for them to come back home so that she can bring them over. Yikes! This doesn’t look so good for Lizzie and her friends.
- Matt tells the group he devised a Plan B and takes out an elf costume from a sack he’s been carrying around. Apparently, he kept elf costumes since last Christmas when he and his family took pictures for their family Christmas card. He suggests they dress up like elves so that they can blend in with the Christmas-themed set and performers.
Matt isn’t going to dress himself up as an elf. Nope, he is going in as Aaron Carter. At first, I thought he was joking but he was actually serious and tricked a producer to think that he is a stand-in for Aaron. Good job Matt but the producer needs to get his eyes checked asap.
- Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda weren’t so lucky and were denied entry once again. Lizzie isn’t quick to lose hope and she comes up with another plan to get them in. She spots a car pulling up to the security check and leads her friends to hide by the side of the car, away from the security officer’s view. I’m guessing they haven’t installed security cameras in the area yet because they successfully manage to sneak their way in.
- Turns out, the person driving that car was her father, Sam! He spots Lizzie for a second but she quickly ducks away before he could realize that it was actually her. This adds on to the list of things Lizzie needs to worry about today.
Looks like things are getting more complicated than before
Getting In Was Hard, But Staying In Is Harder
- Just when Gordo is about to film a short video intro of Lizzie and Miranda for his documentary, the same security officer spots them and we then get a funny but childish chase sequence. They find themselves at the waiting area for the video shoot that is also used for crafts service and Lizzie’s dad is also at the same area.
- Meanwhile at the Mcguire home, Jo listens to a voice message left by the security officer at Ren-Mar warehouses who tells her that Lizzie is causing some trouble over there. Jo immediately goes into ‘mom mode’ and starts charging her way to find her daughter and probably ground her for all of eternity.
- Lizzie, who is hiding under a red sack on a sleigh spots ‘Aaron’ when it was actually Matt. I don’t get how she manages to confuse the two; Matt is way shorter than the real Aaron and she should know that. They stumble onto the stage where rehearsals are taking place and they are spotted by the director of the shoot and the same security officer who has been giving them a tough time.
- We then get the same, stereotypical troupe of the overweight security guy chasing a bunch of kids and the kids are too fast for him. I probably enjoyed this chase-scene when I was younger but now as an adult, I am just not amused.
- But I did enjoy the scene where the security officer tells Jo that he doesn’t know where Lizzie is and she freaks out on him. That was gold! But she was detained afterwards and held in a detention room. Sam joins her pretty soon afterward because he tried to eat one of the donuts from the crafts service table.
Aaron Carter!
- Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda are hiding inside a room, which turns out to be Aaron Carter’s dressing room. Convenient much? Is the security around here that incompetent? Suddenly, Aaron’s manager enters the room and demands to know what are these kids doing here.
- Lizzie tries to butter her up and explains to her that meeting Aaron would be the best thing ever and it would mean a lot to them if at least one of them gets to meet him. The manager agrees and Lizzie actually sacrifices her chance to meet him by giving it to Miranda.
Lizzie, you really did not have to give up your chance like that.
- WHAT!? Lizzie really did not have to do that. She did most of the work to get them there and she was the one who first heard about Aaron coming to town. And she gives it up just to let Miranda sing to him and get his autograph? That’s being too much of a good friend. Miranda should have insisted Lizzie went instead. I’m beginning to understand why Miranda is not such a liked character overall by the fandom.
- Luckily, everything ends up being A-okay because we have another convenient plot point where Lizzie left her tape recorder at Aaron’s dressing room and goes back to find it. She knocks on the door and standing in front of her with Lizzie’s tape recorder in his hand is Aaron in the flesh.
Rant Time!
Ohh puh-leaze!
- He gives her tape recorder back and he wishes her Merry Christmas and they share a KISS under a Mistletoe!!!??? I love Lizzie Mcguire and all but that moment was completely and utterly ridiculous! I’ve never heard of a fan meeting their idol-crush and then 5 seconds later, he gives that fan a kiss on the LIPS (NOT CHEEKS), LIPS without asking their permission. It’s so mind-boggling and unrealistic, even for a tween show on Disney.
- It’s very clear that Hilary Duff and Aaron Carter were dating at that time and the producers just had to slip in a kiss scene between the two of them in this episode to take advantage of their cute relationship.
I Want Candy!
- The video director and Matt find Lizzie and her friends and all thanks to Matt, they also get to be a part of Aaron Carter’s music video.
Cue the music video
Overall Thoughts
- I think this was a fan favorite episode of Lizzie Mcguire due to how they managed to bring in Aaron Carter to guest star and perform his ‘I Want Candy’ song. It’s a really cute and fun episode to watch. But obviously, this episode lacks real substance. The kiss scene between Lizzie and Aaron was cute but totally unnecessary (read my Rant section). It also felt weird seeing Lizzie having no problem or showing no remorse when easily lying to her parents and disobeying authoritative figures and such. It was a little out of character, don’t you think?
- Despite all of my complaints about this episode, I will give it a pass because this is considered to be a ‘special’ episode in a way and certain things should be brushed aside for entertainment value. Plus, it was nice to see a young and adorable Aaron Carter thrive in a time before going through so much difficulties in his life from drug abuse to his various personal health issues.

October Night / Woozi x Reader
Jihoon had asked you out on a coffee date that not even the cold winds of October – or your nerves – could ruin.
pairing: Jihoon x Reader
warnings: first date fluff for those cold autumn nights :(((
words: 2.5k
ANON REQUEST: Woozi being a cute little bean (just him being cute let your creative juices flow 😂💕)
You had miscalculated how cold October nights were as you clutched your coat tighter around your body. A warm scarf and a winter jacket would have definitely fit this weather so much more, but you weren’t expecting the wind to be so sharp against your skin. And, besides, you were going on a date, so you wanted to look nice and, apparently, wearing a dress in October wasn’t a particularly smart move, no matter how warm you’d imagined your tights to be.
Once you noticed Jihoon by the entrance of the coffee shop you’d agreed to meet outside of, though, you seemed to forget the cold altogether. As a smile spread across your face at the sight of him, warmth rose in your stomach and expanded all throughout your body.
“Hi,” you said somewhat shyly. This wasn’t the first time you were seeing him, but it was a different occasion this time. It was your first date.
“Hey,” he replied, responding to your smile with his own as he slowly opened his arms, not wanting to cross any boundaries and yet feeling as though a simple “hi” wasn’t going to suffice.
Nearly blushing, you wrapped your hands around his neck and felt him hug you back. The embrace really only lasted for five seconds at most – and it wasn’t even the first hug you’ve shared with him – but the scent of his cologne seemed to linger on your skin long after you pulled away.
“Should we go in?” Jihoon asked afterwards. “You look half-frozen.”
You chuckled slightly. “Yeah. It’s windier than I’d expected.”
“Let’s get you inside then,” he said, taking your hand – a brave move that he hadn’t pre-planned, hence the pause filled with hesitation after your fingers brushed against each other.
Not finding the words to encourage him – you were afraid you’d just squeal if you opened your mouth right now – you smiled instead and entered the coffee shop first, Jihoon – his warm hand holding your cold one – following in after you.
The coffee shop was already decorated for Halloween. Fake – and real – pumpkins were placed on every windoswill inside, spider webs decorating the windows and getting into your hair just like real ones would.
“Oh, hold on,” Jihoon stopped you almost as soon as you entered, helping you get a very glittery black cobweb out of your hair. “There.”
“Thank you,” you said, feeling slightly flustered by his close proximity. “I’m not a big fan of spiders. Real or not.”
“I know what you mean,” he nodded knowingly. “Halloween is a difficult time for us, spider-haters.”
This got you to laugh as the two of you looked around the place, trying to decide if you’d be staying here or getting your drinks to-go. Not many people were here – which was definitely a plus – but there weren’t many tables here in the first place. It was a small coffee shop, and although the coziness made up for it, it was somewhat intimidating to be seated so close to the staff working the cash register.
“Pick a table,” Jihoon encouraged, making the decision to stay here. It was too cold to go out, even with coffee in your hands. “I’ll order us something. Would you like pumpkin pie?”
“Ah, pumpkins,” you sighed, never having liked them particularly much. You weren’t comfortable enough yet to express your dislike openly, though. “I’ll have whatever you have.”
“Anything but pumpkins. Got it,” he said, smiling as he caught what you meant even if you didn’t say it outright. “Hot chocolate? Tea? Coffee?”
Feeling how cold your hands were now that Jihoon let go of them, you didn’t care much for the beverages themselves, as long as they were hot.
“Hot chocolate, please,” you ended up saying, unconsciously going with the holiday theme.
Jihoon nodded and motioned with his hand for you to pick a table. You scanned the coffee shop quickly and then chose the table at the furthest corner of the shop, hoping for more privacy, not that there were many people here.
The corner you chose ended up being really cozy, with pillows on chairs and small, plastic ghost figurines decorating the table. You picked one of the figurines up, smiling as you inspected it.
This was a nice spot. You knew you could have great study sessions in this café with friends but, after today, you weren’t sure if you’d ever want to come back here with anyone aside from Jihoon, who approached the table another minute later, two mugs of steaming hot chocolate in his hands.
Although his arrival made you smile, it also made you nervous again. You didn’t know how this date was going to go – you weren’t particularly experienced when it came to dating – but you felt anxious as you wanted to make the best of your time with him.
“I’ll be right back,” Jihoon said, after putting the mugs down on the table. “I have to bring the cheesecake.”
You smiled despite yourself – he didn’t get the pumpkin pie – and watched him return to the cash register for the cake slices and then come back to you.
“There,” he said, pushing a plate towards you and leaving another one for himself. “I was told this cake was the least festive option and we’re obviously trying to go against the flow by ignoring everything related to pumpkins.”
You chuckled nervously. “I wouldn’t have anything against pumpkins if they tasted differently.”
“I’m not judging!” Jihoon defended immediately. “If anything, I’m just curious. Do you dislike any other typical Halloween flavors?”
“No, actually, candy corn is my favorite type of candy,” you confessed and he nodded, impressed. “I also love cinnamon, but I guess it’s not really seasonal.”
“No, I accept cinnamon,” he nodded. “I used to dislike it until my mom made these Christmas cookies with cinnamon. It tasted great and now I love it.”
“Did she teach you how to make those cookies?” you asked. “I’d love to try them.”
“She didn’t, but I am a professional at improvising,” he gave you a bright smile, making you laugh. “I’m not much of a baker, but I could try for you.”
It wasn’t a big promise but no one’s ever told you they’d bake cookies just for you so it meant a lot. In your small group of friends, you were the person who supplied the food so, naturally, you were the only one who knew how to bake actual cookies and not have your friends eat them raw. It felt nice to have someone offer baking them for you for a change.
“I’d make them if you gave me the recipe,” you offered, hoping not to sound too awkward. “Oh, but fair warning, I’ve only ever baked chocolate-chip cookies before.”
“Ah, classic,” Jihoon acknowledged. “The recipe is kind of a family secret but we can find a way around it.”
“How?”
“We could bake them together,” he said, his eyes leaving yours. He couldn’t help but feel like this statement made him appear too eager when he was desperately trying to just seem cool. He was only planning to bring the next date up by the end of this one, not at the very beginning.
“Really?” you asked, the subtle excitement in your voice encouraging him to return his eyes to your face. “I’d like that.”
“Yeah?” Jihoon smiled. “I’d like that, too.”
Both of you were too flustered to continue casually so you took the next moment to try your drinks instead. The first sip of hot chocolate burned your throat but after the next one, you got used to the burning sensation and it started to feel oddly nice. Your hands slowly started to warm up, too.
“It tastes really good,” you commented, exhaling slowly. “A little hot but there’s nothing wrong with that in weather like this.”
Jihoon nodded. “I think so, too. You should keep drinking it. You still look really cold.”
You brought your hands together, checking how cold they were, and then intertwining your fingers and placing your hands on the table, preparing to sit like this until you felt – and looked – warmer.
“Yeah, I didn’t think about taking my gloves with me when I—”
“Let me,” he reached his hand across the table, placing it on both of yours. “My hands are naturally always warm.”
Although he didn’t lie about his hands being warm, you still felt goosebumps rise on your skin after he touched you. Contrary to your seemingly shivering body, though, your cheeks seemed to heat up.
“Thank you,” you said, not daring to look up at him now that he was holding your hands.
“It’s nothing,” he said. Had you looked at him, you would have seen that he was just as flustered as you were. “Y-you have really soft skin. You should really wear gloves when you’re out.”
“I know,” you nodded, trying to fight through the five layers of shyness, “I was just—this stupid thing happened before I left. I’d laid out my clothes for tonight in the morning and the dress I’d planned on wearing slid off the rack when I wasn’t home, so it was all tangled up and messy when I found it on the floor later. So, I had to find other clothes to wear, and I—” you realized how much you were talking and felt yourself blush even harder. “I-I forgot the gloves.”
Jihoon didn’t say anything so you thought your nervous speech about your adventures before this date scared him off – you failed to see how unlikely that was – but, once you raised your head to look at him, he had a soft smile on his face.
“You look really pretty,” he said. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that as soon as I saw you tonight.”
“Thank you,” you replied timidly, this time choosing to keep looking at him despite the nervousness you were feeling.
“I’m sure you would have looked just as pretty with the messy dress,” he continued. “Or with clothes that actually keep you warm.”
“Oh. Yeah,” you chuckled nervously. You already knew that wearing dresses in October wasn’t going to be something you’d do again. “I guess I was trying to dress more formally today.”
“For our date?”
“Yeah.”
Saying this felt weird. Almost like you’ve just confessed how hard you were trying to look good for this date. Like you admitted that your confidence was a long process of carefully planned outfits and make-up, and not something that came naturally to you because you haven’t learned how to get up and just go. You still needed to give yourself pep-talks and you definitely needed assurance from others.
“Hey,” Jihoon said, noticing that your mind had drifted away from him. He squeezed your hand lightly to get you to look back at him again. “I think you would look great in anything. I’d hate it if you caught a cold on our first date, but, I have to admit, this way, I’d get a chance to look after you – since it’d be my fault you’re sick – and that’s a great reason to see you again.”
“You don’t need to get me sick to see me again,” you said, his words slowly burning the nerves and insecurities in your stomach.
“No?” he was smiling in a way that was so kind, you felt yourself exhale deeply, some of your anxiety leaving your body with your breath. “That’s good, then. I was hoping we’d get to bake those cookies on our next date.”
You smiled, remembering. “That’s right, the cookies.”
“We could also watch a movie,” he said. “Do you have a favorite holiday one?”
“I love them all,” you said, “but I guess “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is one of my favorite ones this time of year. It’s not really a Christmas movie, but not really a Halloween one, either. It fits October really well, in my opinion. I used to watch it during the Autumn holidays all the time with my family. We’d—” you stopped yourself again after noticing how easily you fell into a fit of nervous chattering. “sorry. I tend to switch between barely talking and then talking a lot when I’m nervous.”
“It’s okay, don’t apologize,” Jihoon said. “I was looking forward to hearing your traditions. Do you think this year you could watch “The Nightmare Before Christmas” with me?”
“You’d want that?”
“Of course,” he nodded, feeling shy admitting it but still trying to keep his strong face on because he was hoping to ease your nerves this way. “I’ve never seen it before.”
“You haven’t?” you almost gasped, the surprise of hearing this distracting you from every other thought that was running through your mind. “Oh, then I have to show it to you!”
Jihoon smiled at your enthusiasm. “Good. I can’t wait.”
“I can’t believe you’ve never seen it.”
“Hey, I didn’t judge your hatred of pumpkins!” he reminded you jokingly.
You laughed. “That’s right, sorry. I won’t judge your negligence of one of the best movies in the world.”
“Right, that didn’t sound judgemental at all,” he commented, laughing, too.
This was starting to feel nice. Sure, you were still nervous and every time you realized how warm his hand felt on yours, you felt a new wave of hotness wash over your face, but other than that, you loved this. The atmosphere, the smell of chocolate, the appetizing slice of cake on your plate, Jihoon across from you... everything.
“I-I’m having a really great time,” you said. “Thank you for asking me out.”
“Thank you for agreeing to come,” he replied, slowly breaking through the ice and showing you his more laid-back side. “It would have been really sad to sit here alone.”
You chuckled but chose to take another sip of your hot chocolate instead of replying. Maybe if you warmed up properly, the remaining nerves you were feeling would finally dissipate.
“I’m nervous,” Jihoon said suddenly. You gave him a confused look. “I-I just felt the need to mention that. I’m trying to make jokes – thank you for laughing, by the way – but, really, I feel like I’m about to exhale both of my lungs.”
“W-why did you feel the need to mention that?” you asked slowly.
“Because your hands are shaking,” he said. Instinctively, you glanced at your hands – your fingers still intertwined – under his. “And I know it’s not just from the cold. So, I want you to know you’re not the only nervous one here. I’m feeling all the same things you’re feeling.”
“Oh,” you managed to say, not having expected Jihoon to be so understanding and, more importantly, so accepting. “Thank you. You’re probably the first person who didn’t tell me to loosen up.”
“I think we both need to find a way to calm down,” he said. “And we will eventually. Getting used to new people takes a bit of time and… I want to get used to you.”
You knew that your hot cheeks were slowly becoming a natural part of you as your smile widened. “I want to get used to you, too.”

CanvasWatches: Winter 2018 Anime Season
Another season of Funimation Dubs has come and gone. I watched yet another small handful of animes, so I might as well properly establish a tradition.
Winter 2018. The way the seasons get named will probably always throw me off, since I mentally assign winter as the end of the year (possibly an influence of Harvest Moon) but Spring’s straight forward enough.
This time I watched four animes to completion and dropped one. I also kept meaning to binge the first series of Cardcaptor Sakura (since Crunchyroll so nicely put the dub up for free) to jump on Clear Card, but then I… didn’t. Didn’t find time.
As usual, in order of completion!
Dagashi Kashi Season 2
The return of this series was inexplicable, but fun. Though the episodes were cut down to just 15(-ish) minutes apiece, which was a little disappointing content-wise. Sure, the half-hour episodes of the first season were essentially two clearly divided segments, but actually committing to half-length episodes means this season had less content.
The first half continued the formula of ‘Hotaru comes in, acts weird, then gives a Dagashi lecture’ before she vanishes for the second half of the season without giving an explanation.
After which point, two new characters are introduced: a convenience store manager with suspiciously familiar eyes, and Hajime, a college dropout who wears glasses and doesn’t actually know much about Dagashi. Both are great additions, and Hajime becomes a good “student of dagashi” character, but the convenience store manager (whose name I forget) should’ve been mined for more material, especially with the reveal at the end of the series.
I’d like a third season to explore what’s possible with the full cast (since Hotaru only has one scene with the two newbies), but I admit such is unlikely.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride
This is a series that probably deserves a full review in its own right, and maybe someday I’ll come back to do so. I started it last season, and now it’s concluded.
Magus’ Bride so wanted to be Fullmetal Alchemist, which is ultimately it’s greatest failing. Sure, it was initially cute whenever I could laugh and say ‘Look, just like FMA!’ but after a while, it stops being funny and gets suspiciously familiar.
Ultimately, the world was too big for its story. Characters are introduced, new world details revealed, hints to backstories uncovered, but the series is bad at pay off. Either a conflict is solved within the first couple minutes of the next episode, or it’s always unresolved. I kept waiting for the mystery of what Elias is to take focus, but it’s only ever teased.
It could’ve been so much better if everything related to alchemy was cut (because Magic and the Fey are enough for fantasy), the final antagonist had more appearances, and if the show was longer.
And the central relationship between Chise and Elias just never found its way to romance. The two remained locked in Teacher/Student[1] for the entire run. Elias doesn’t fully understand emotion, and Chise is codependent. I never reached a point where I could nod and say ‘Ah yes. They’re in love.’ The imagery used in the final scene isn’t earned.
I will say the Devimon arm’s great, though.
Pop Team Epic
It’s… fine.
There are some genuinely funny moments, and the meta-gags (switching the voice actors for the two leads every episode, changes between the two halves) are inspired. However, it’s clearly a series doing it for the Meme, to be turned into GIFs and short videos. So after a couple episodes, once I got the tone and humor, it wasn’t very engaging. Especially since each episode is essentially a 15-minute episode doubled and redubbed.
I’m not a big fan of memes. Or, rather, Meme culture, where a joke structure gets caught onto and reinterpreted until the next hotness arrives. Sure, sometimes some brilliant parodies of the meme arise, but internet memes can wear thin real quickly. Most importantly, memes just don’t feel clever.
There’s nothing more tedious than listening to a group of improv performers repeat Spongebob quotes ad nauseum.
Even watching the anime on a weekly basis burns out too quickly. Pop Team Epic will live its best life as gif sets, popping up sporadically. As a series, it’s best viewed spread out and sparingly.
It’s cotton candy. Quick pleasure, no substance.
Karakai Jozu No Takagi-San
This one’s just cute. Sure, the central relationship doesn’t fully advance, but it’s still cute.
It’s also an example of gag-segments done really well. There’s a consistent theme between them (Takagi embarrassing Nishikata) and a progressive advancement (Takagi subtly trying to get Nishikata to realize their mutual feelings) and continuity.
There’s also the occasional side story starring a trio of girls from Takagi and Nishikata’s class which I wasn’t as invested in, but Foxface apparently enjoyed more than the main plot, so there’s that second-hand endorsement.
Really, the only thing the series did wrong was not winking at the original manga’s sequel series. Would’ve been an adorable capper.
Citrus
And the one I dropped. I was hoping for another cute romance with some drama due to culture and the taboo nature of the relationship. Why not, pressure makes diamonds or whatever?
However, the basis of the relationship was way too Assault-y for my tastes. Yes, they’re trying to build up the trauma of the abuser making her that way, but it’s uncomfortable. Not in a ‘oh, shame on you for thinking this would be hot’ slap-back which I would’ve respected, but instead in a manner that is just not okay.
I might retry later, so that a binge would condense the discomfort, but I’m also comfortable with abandoning it.
---
So that was Winter 2018. What am I looking forward to for Spring 2018?
Well, My Hero Academia is back for season 3. That’s a must, but still waiting for its first episode to get dubbed before I begin.
I feel required to watch Steins;Gate 0. I watched the first series at the excited request of old high school friends (and it took me a while due to needing a Dub). I thought it was okay, but a little overhyped by aforementioned friends. Still, it wasn’t offensive or particularly poorly executed, so I might as well watch the follow up.
A Tumblr Blog I follow seems to love the Golden Kamuy manga, so might as well. Might be good?
Space Battleship Tiramisu is food comedy IN SPACE! It may not be Delicious in Dungeon, but I dip my toe in sci-fi from time to time.
Then I might pick up Darling in the Franxx, though Mecha is a genre I’ve always had difficulty getting into.[2]
It’s not a particularly exciting season, but worst case scenario, MHA is the only one to survive my gauntlet and I have more time to catch up.
Maybe I’ll even invest in HiDive. It’s catalogue has a few of my white whales.
Well, until next time, check out my other works, send me questions, support my Patreon. Hopefully I’ll find the resources to diversify my content.
In particular, bringing CanvasReviews into other mediums.
Kataal kataal.
---
[1] Then again, I might be tainted by my hatred of Hot for Teacher.
[2] Gurren Lagann has been attempted a couple times and I intend to keep trying. Neon Genisis Evangelion is a lost cause for many reasons.

vermilion skies in the winter
First and foremost, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year – hopefully, this gets posted soon enough so I don’t make a fool of myself. Nonetheless, hello! I go by M, for the most part. It’s one of my favorite letters, so without a doubt, I’d like to think of it as my unofficial online call sign. Currently, I am in the Eastern Time Zone, but I’m fairly versatile with roleplaying alongside with others from different timezones (with minor exceptions to GMT, and those with more than 5 hours ahead or behind). I’ve found that those interactions simply don’t work all that well in terms of keeping in touch, and I’ve had to discontinue two partners simply because the time difference was too much. But I digress from that! Twenty-six years of age, and I have been roleplaying for over 10 years, so I have a good deal of experience in my humblest opinion.
I figure that’s enough about myself; now to get to the main reason you’re all reading this, and that is because I have been looking for roleplayers with the coming of this new year, someone to keep my muse levels high and my writing always on point while I maintain having two jobs, as well as a burgeoning social life. Someone easygoing yet creative with a vivid imagination to bring ideas to form is highly desired in a writer.
This request is not for the faint of heart, and those who have considerable limits, hesitations, and triggers are likely not going to be a good match. Just fair warning.
WRITING
I am a multi-paragraph sort of writer, which means that frequently, my writing will exceed at least 600 words, and upward of 1000+ words. I love detail and description, and I am actively seeking someone of the same infamy. Once upon a time, I managed to keep up with a story that teetered around 3000+ per reply with someone, still maintaining the same detailed descriptive writing, and I definitely wouldn’t mind having that challenge once more.
GENRES / PAIRINGS / FACES
I exclusively play male characters in mxf pairings with any smut or romantic attachment, this is non-negotiable. I fully understand and respect roleplayers who are able to play both males and females and nonbinary characters in different pairings. I simply don’t have that versatility, as when I’ve played them in the past, there was an innate in-authenticity that I felt. On the other hand, I am a bit more versatile when it comes to genres and settings that I like to play in. Supernatural is my absolute bread and butter, especially urban and gothic fantasy. Anything to do with vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, shapeshifters, mutants, other urban creature of folklore, given some sort of modern day spun, is absolutely perfect for me. I also really love science fiction in its many forms. Primarily, I take my sci-fi craving inspirations from Star Wars, Mass Effect, and Destiny. I’ve also been slowly intrigued by zombie-less post-apocalyptic storylines, something where the cataclysm is not necessarily caused by rabid zombies (I’m not a big fan of the stereotypical zombies portrayed in The Walking Dead and stuff), but something with either a lethal virus, or a planetary disaster, like an extreme coronal mass ejection.
Another genre that I’ve slowly found interest in includes that of the superhero genre. I’m a big fan of both Marvel and DC fandom, and the concept of having superhumans, humans with abilities, anything of that short would be awesome to do. Against, these would be with original characters on my part. I’m not as fond of general real-life or general modern day genres and themes without a good, complex idea attached to it.
One thing I really love to employ in my roleplays would be face claims, faces, playbys, picture bases, however you call it nowadays. Like I said, I started out roleplaying on forums like proboards, and later, jcink and invisionfree, so face claims are quite prevalent for me. This would only be real-life pictures, and not anime or drawings. We can use the latter for reference points, but I would ideally like face claims to be involved. In terms of looks and stuff, I’ve generally gone for a variety of different guys for who I use to represent my characters. Two of my favorite faces are Tom Hardy and Charlie Hunnam: I can use them for anything. I’ve also had a penchant for guys like Richard Armitage, Marlon Teixeira, Chadwick Boseman, Jason Momoa, and Ed Skrein. For women, my characters playing against, I like to go for an even greater assortment of faces. From actresses like Natalie Dormer, Katie McGrath, Deborah Ann Woll, and Olivia Wilde, models like Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel, glamour models like Lucy Collett, Lucy Pinder, and Billie Faiers, alternative models like Sara Fabel and Kelly Eden, and even adult faces like Christy Mack and Nikki Benz – you name them, I’m probably interested in them. So the flexibility is highly wanted.
WORLD BUILDING
I want an active roleplayer in this category, without a doubt. i love to world-build, but I tend to lose interest when I am the only one who puts in the effort to world-build. Too often I find people gun-shy in this regard. If I feel that I’m carrying the weight of the world-building part with specific ideas, I will end the roleplay in a heartbeat. And consider that the world building is just the tip of the beginning, so from that, I’ll be able to see whether we’ll be a match or not. Because we’d be starting from scratch with whatever we do, it would be a big relief to have someone who doesn’t mind letting ideas flow to set up the universe that we will be roleplaying in. That way, I feel as though we would both be extremely immersed into the roleplay. Let’s create lively planets with vast underground criminal empires, ot a galaxy far, far away, or galaxies far, far away.
MATURE CONTENT
I enjoy writing smut, plain and simple. I don’t hinder myself – or I try not to – in what I write, the exact extremeness and depth and detail, and I expect my partner to do the same. Maybe not extremeness in a total and complete smutfest (but really, I wouldn’t be opposed), but I do like a variety of things that can be incorporated along with a fascinating story. Some kinks I love include BDSM, incest, the unholy trinity (oral, anal, and such), dubious consent, hair-pulling, those sorts of things. A particularly darker kink that is not explored enough for me is pregnancy/impregnation/breeding. Also, since I love things like psychological trauma and experimentation (in science fiction and supernatural context), those are also highly desired. The manipulation of someone’s mind, body, and soul, combined with elements of corruption and body alteration/transformation – love. These lean more on this smuttier side of the roleplaying, which I like to fashion it as a coin; heads being the smut, tails being the story. I tend to think of them as two halves of a whole and complete experience, and you simply cannot have one without the other.
I’ve bulleted the major kinks/mature themes that I want to explore.
Psychological torment. Again, I really enjoy this sort of roleplaying, challenging the mind, characters in situations where they ultimately do not recover from it mentally, where their psychological profile is irrevocably changed.
The unholy trinity. Oral, anal, vaginal sex. Like I said, I enjoy my smut, I’m shameless, don’t care much for judging.
Corruption. Easily one of my favorite themes to explore, and it doesn’t have to just be as simple as sexual corruption, turning a poor innocent girl and debasing her to the point of no return. Something as simple as a hardened person, forged from the rigors of life, suddenly finding themselves in a position of finer things. Of wealth, of relaxation. That can sow the seeds into a slow descent into something illegal, lewd, or all of the above. And they can view it as the ultimate freedom from that hardship.
Drugs. The exploration of a person’s psyche that forces them to turn to recreational drugs to cope with whatever situations they have.
Vanity, body alterations. This can be through different genres and for different reasons. Imperfections are everywhere, and I love roleplaying themes where the characters will go through whatever means. Larger breasts and a more voluptuous curves in order to make money or ascend higher in the economic sphere. Modified abs, cosmetic surgery, all of those things would be included.
Taboo pairings. Specifically incest or interracial. I’ve not tried mother/son pairings, but i’d like to see if anyone is up for that. I’m also good with father/daughter and brother/sister pairings, but those would be primarily for science fiction and urban fantasy.
Gore. I don’t mind there being a little or a good deal. With urban fantasy, you can expect this, because I tend to play creatures as vicious, war-mongering, and unapologetic about tapping into their bestial natures.
Bad endings. What if happily ever after isn’t so happily after all? What if the main character doesn’t get the job done, what if there is no fairytale ending, and what results is heartache, pain, misery? Or delight, freedom, and inspiration?
Pregnancy. Impregnation. Breeding. Demons need to procreate to get their army, no? They need to find that special someone who can unearth their demonic spawn and destroy their adversaries. Or, for a more subversive notion, a simple one=night stand ends up being nine months of sheer interest and intrigue for the involved coupling. I lean toward the former, having had some basis in erotic roleplaying in the past, so the more odd themes of this are welcomed. But normal pregnancy with the right plot is also quite fun.
Again, I can’t stress this enough. These themes are going to be darker by nature. While I don’t believe in a purely smut or purely story-centered roleplay, the fact of the matter is that I’m looking for someone who can and has no problem with handling those themes. For me, I’m alright if you have any particular aversion to rape (I’ll never pressure anyone for this) and things like scat and watersports (I’m personally not okay with those latter two), but I’d like it if everything else was fair game. So BDSM, incest, the exploration of similar themes and such.
The only limits I have in this regard would include scat and watersports, those things of that nature. I generally do not mind non-consensual stories that start off that way initially, but over time change (and I know that that isn’t how non-consensual sex works in real life). However, I honestly do not mind it at all if that theme is not included at all since I know that it can be a particular trigger to some..
INSPIRATIONS / FANDOMS
I have many different inspirations when it comes to what I roleplay and how I generally approach a roleplay through my characters, the setting, and such. For urban fantasy roleplays, I’ll take different sets of lore for creatures and create my own, not following any specific script, to say the least. Things from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood, Vampires The Masquerade, for instance, would cater to my urban fantasy cravings. Bonus points for anyone familiar with video game franchises like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Destiny, Borderlands, Overwatch. Now, I don’t necessarily roleplay these fandoms to the tee, and I wouldn’t play any canon characters from it. I would, however, love to play opposite canon characters with my own original assembly of characters, as well as playing in scenes and settings reminiscent of these.
PARTICULAR CRAVINGS
Now that I’ve pretty much laid out what I’m about, I’d like to turn your attention to a few particular cravings that I’ve had as of late.
Supernaturally-themed plots are always going to be my bread and butter. I’ve had a craving for demons and demon hunters, this nigh eternal struggle between those that bring hellfire and corruption to humanity, and those tasked with defending humans from them. Or, a more self-serving alternative, these bounty hunters being skilled enough to take the unenviable task of capturing and/or killing demons for a hefty price. Maybe one, or a few demon hunters, get too big for their britches and take on a truly horrifying upper demon. We can play intense themes of carnal desires, corruption, underhanded tricks, contract obligations. [18+]
On the level of science fiction, you’ve seen me repeatedly mention Mass Effect. I love the crew idea, exploring the vast known and unknown reaches of space. Maybe they are a crew of bounty hunters looking for the next payday, or soldiers trying to stave off an alien threat. [18+]
Another science fiction, but with a more centralized main character. Called “The Traveler”, I would like to explore some sort of time-traveling person (not akin to Doctor Who, but the premise is the same). Someone with the advanced technological resources or metahuman abilities to traverse through time. What’s his purpose? What’s his motivation? Maybe instead of preventing things from happening that indicate bad results, maybe “The Traveler” IS the cause of these bad events. Maybe this Traveler has ambition to travel through significant events in history to manipulate them to his ultimate advantage, to gain more power. [18+]
Gotham will burn – Now, this one, is partly because of my interest in the show Gotham, but also from the Batman: Arkham series video games. I love a dark, gritty sort of cityscape with mobsters and criminals, and these rogue vigilantes trying to clean things up. I’ve also been inspired by the TV show Arrow, so this would be along those ideas. Maybe, for once, these supposed “heroes in the dark” can’t clean up the city and instead succumb to the corruptive pressures of an easier, more hedonistic lifestyle? [18+]
The “ambitious plot” – this is something I’ve coined myself, since it is pretty ambitious to bring to life. And this is one of my primary cravings, something of an all-inclusive episodic series, so to speak, which would feature just about everything I love in varying or limitless amounts. I thought of it as something akin to a Mass Effect inspired, Game of Thrones-esque establishment and episode structure, wherein there are different characters with different plot points, in different settings, but altogether would combine for some sort of universal roleplay. Naturally, this would also combine my other four cravings. [18+]
Each of these cravings would require us to play multiple characters off the bat, as well as adding characters either selectively to the storyline, or nondescriptly, because we think another character with a specific personality might add even more intrigue to it. These cravings are also going to vacillate highly between smut and story, depending on the particular facet we’d like to explore. To me, the ambitious plot is the one I’m really seeking, but it is a pretty time-consuming one, and something not for the faint of heart or for others that don’t have all that much time on their hands. As these cravings will be fairly demanding and require a good deal of OOC communication, I will require you to add in your own input AS you contact me. Which means, if you do decide to email me, specifically about those ideas, you must already have some ideas ready to throw at me.
MEDIUM
Medium-wise, I’ve done various forms of roleplaying before. When I started roleplaying, I was initially a site go-getter, loving the pretty graphics and the jcink and invisionfree (and to a lesser extent, proboards) communities. I’m not sure if I want to roleplay on that, for this particular request, as I don’t have it in me to go through the semantics and the time consummation of having to write up an application or a character sheet, so right now, forum roleplaying is off the table. Right now, my main preferences for roleplaying include email and Googledocs, with Googledocs being the main preference right now.
Hopefully I have not dissuaded too many people, but I will say that for the purposes of what I am looking for, I am going to be rather picky about who contacts me. So please, be as detailed in your email as I have been in my request, that’s all i ask. I don’t wish to have emails with the body of them being “Hey, i’m interested in everything you listed, so let’s roleplay” – that does nothing to inspire my confidence and excitement. Let me know what specifically wrapped you into contacting me.
CONTACT
If you are interested in potentially roleplaying with me, please contact me by email ONLY. I made this tumblr just to be able to send these kinds of request, but I otherwise do not use it and will not respond to messages made on it. I created the email specifically for roleplaying means – [email protected]. I’m open to communication and creating a general dialogue through Skype, AIM, or Google Hangouts, but only after the initial email correspondence has been made. For contacting me, I would like your name/online alias, age (because I will only be accepting partners 18 and over), timezone, roleplaying availability, interests, kinks/limits, and – well, hell – include your favorite song lyric in the title of the email.
Did you actually read this in its entirety? I’ll know if you didn’t. I won’t really blame you, since this is a lot I have written, and it might seem that i’m pretty overbearing with what I want. But I promise you that I am a very enjoyable person and a talented writer – or at least, I think so, haha.

vermilion skies in the winter
