I kinda feel like I've made a post like this before, but its tough getting into niche interests like fighting games that are best played with others as a queer person. In the past, some shyness and awkwardness would have been the primary thing stopping me. But these days, I mostly just don't want to join a community server where some capital G gamers might misgender me or call me a slur.

So of course the logical thing to do was to buy a PS4 just to play Gundam EXVS. MBON, which not only requires one other person to spar against, but a person to team up with and 2 people to spar against. While also being an extremely niche fighting game only available on one console. But the mecha brainrot is too strong and the game too hype. Rip me I guess lmao.

Theres something about PC gaming. Like its got a reputation for being the most expensive at the highest levels but:

A. If you are poor and want to play games, its easier to justify a machine that do other stuff like send emails and do homework with

B. The ability to build your own PC means choosing your cost. This can be shelling out thousands or putting some shitbox potato together out of whatever parts you can afford and making an extremely cursed setup that still WORKS.

C. The ability to self repair. If you are poor, that means if something breaks, replacing the whole thing might not always be possibile but with a PC you can at least save money by switching out parts for cheaper, functional ones. Or hell, just maybe you are fed up with Windows and decide to swap to Linux. Thats not an option you get for consoles.

D. PC also has the largest library of playable games. Even if you cant afford the equipment to play the latest AAAA 500 gig game, theres still decades of other games you can play. Which is why games like the original half life still has active community servers in countries where throwing together whatever spare PC parts you can is much more feasible than acquiring a console. Piracy is also the most accessible on PC, so if you're a broke teenager, all you need to do is learn how to torrent things and boom you have access to way more games than your wallet will allow.

E. PC gamers are queer as hell. Like games like Fallout New Vegas and Team Fortress 2 have running jokes about how their audience is either bigoted or queer and theres a reason for that. These games are primarily played on PC. For me, and many other PC gamers, we came from very poor families in areas not very friendly to LGBTQIA+ peoples so finding communities where you can be yourself can be the first step to coming to terms with who you are, and naturally a lot of people who have these experiences usually end up learning how to code and donning "The Programming socks" or going into STEM when they can afford school. So for real, if you think your space is suddenly being "invaded" by these queer people, take a good long look at the people you've interacted with online over the years and realize they've been there all along.

My writing is primarily Novella! I can do Lazy Lit minimum though. I usually write around 1,200 words give or take. And 600 words at the least. Face claims aren’t required, but I do have an irl one and picrews just in case! I’m fine with fast or slow replies. I usually reply twice a week depending on muse I can do more. The character I’m wanting to write and main with is a young YouTuber/Twitch streamer. He’s got a peppy personality, super fun loving, playful, sociable, and most certainly a bit lazy and leisurely. He’s a bit of an airhead sometimes, he’s typically portrayed as “dumb” in his content. He’s not actually stupid, just a bit spacey, careless, and doesn’t think a lot of the time on top of always fumbling his words. He’s definitely got a dog boy personality. He’s always been a city boy his whole life. He’s 28 y/o, 5’4”, Transmasc and Gay, and would be portrayed as an Omega in this. He might lack a little color to his personality after the apocalypse, but he still knows how to laugh and smile.

The two other characters I have we can use as side characters; one is a quiet, prudish, fatherly, worrisome, and protective 34 y/o 5’2” Transmasc and Gay, he would be an Omega; and the other an impish, careless, perverted, and crude 25 y/o 5’8” Masc and Queer, and he would be a Beta.

Looking for characters who are quick, witty, friendly, funny, caring, big and strong, ( over ) protective, etc. I want to focus a lot on Omegaverse dynamics outside of smut like packs, instincts, going feral, etc etc. I’m not looking for characters who would be strangers to one another, ideally they’ve known each other for a while whether it’s before or after the apocalypse. They’re close, maybe even pre established. Maybe they were gaming buddies prior to the apocalypse? Old roommates or classmates? Survivors who have been through a lot together? A pair who have drifted from group to group? Etc etc. Looking to pair my character up with the leader or one of the leaders of the pack! I’d love some hurt/comfort or even my character getting injured and seeing how yours reacts! Would also adore fluff too! And ofc I’m down for anything dead dove as well if it piques my interest! Also side note for how I like to write Omegaverse, Beta’s aren’t just “normal” humans, they have their own unique qualities as a dynamic!

I’m looking at running a game with my husband in the near future, via a digital tabletop; the twist is, we’re going to swap in and out of the DM seat. Each of us will be running our own separate campaign in a shared world and trading off every few weeks. Miss Pauling meets Reddy and Bidwell at their usual spot: the local gay bar, where Miss Pauling an one of the servers have eyes for one another. Too bad Miss Pauling has absolutely zero game. It might actually be in the negatives.

Just something cute and quick that popped into my head and I wanted to get out. I like the idea of these three hanging out. Since we know Reddy and Bidwell work as a good team at work, and that Miss P and Bidwell hang out (the assistants' convention voice line), so why not all three? Plus Reddy needs more love.

The cool desert air chased Miss Pauling as she passed through the door into the vestibule of Bottoms Up, the hidden little establishment known to those canny as the closest gay bar to Teufort, and thus the closest one to TFI headquarters. A pegboard with business cards for local queer-friendly businesses sat on one wall, next to a disused umbrella stand and a payphone. Fixing her hair from the mess the wind and her motorcycle's helmet had turned it into, she pushed through the second door and into the bar itself.

The place was comfortably busy for a Wednesday evening, but not packed like a weekend would see it. She let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. She hated when it was crowded. It was nerve-wracking having to weave through a throng of people, let alone try and get a damn drink, especially at her size. After the last time they'd met on a Saturday, Miss Pauling had made a strict 'no weekends' rule.

Besides, she was far less likely to encounter a stray mercenary on a weekday as well. She'd rather not have those suspicions verified, nor any they may have about her.

Her eyes scanned the room for a long moment. A table nearby was occupied by a few twinks arguing about something, a drag queen was inspecting the jukebox with great dismay, and a leatherman was chatting up one of the bartenders, a red bandana in his back left pocket. Miss Pauling's eyes went wide. She'd never had cause for the hanky code; it was more of a guys' thing, but she knew what it meant. Good luck, she supposed.

Finally, movement caught her eye, as she spied Bidwell and Reddy sitting at a booth against one wall. Bidwell was waving to her. She threw her hand up to let him know he was seen, and made her way over.

"The prodigal daughter returns," Reddy teased, tucking his feet back under the table to allow for some legroom as Miss Pauling slid in next to Bidwell, across from him.

"Sorry I'm late, The Administrator needed me to clean up a quick mess before I got out."

"Is that why I smell gunpowder and Clorox?" Reddy teased.

"Need to know," Bidwell chastised, frowning at his coworker.

"It's fine," Miss Pauling sighed, straightening her dress now that she was seated. "You two order drinks yet?"

"Not yet; we figured we'd wait for you," Bidwell explained.

"That, and that cute waitress you like is on tonight, so we wanted to give you the honours," Reddy said, leaning in conspiratorially.

Miss Pauling's head chin sank to the table, and she crossed her arms over her head, groaning exaggeratedly. "Reddy why are you like this?"

"Because I have to be the only voice of reason at work. I have to get my laughs in somewhere."

"Hey!" Bidwell growled. "What am I, chopped liver? How are you the only voice of reason? You're the biggest yes-man in the compan—"

"Well hey there, you three startin' trouble already?"

All three stopped what they were doing, turning to the server who stood by their booth, notepad in hand, a broad smile on her face. She was tall, almost statuesque, with broad shoulders and wide hips. Her brown hair was pulled back into a low ponytail, and the bangs she was clearly trying to grow our were tucked behind her ears, though a few flyaway hairs escaped and danced about her face as she moved. Her skin was tanned, and freckles dotted her cheeks, and her eyes were a deep, enchanting brown. She leaned forward a bit to regard Miss Pauling, who stared in embarrassment from her position on the table, trying to think of a way to not look like a pathetic wet cat while also trying not to make it obvious she was staring at the server's plunging neckline and ample breasts. It wasn't helped as the server squeezed her arms together as she leaned, accentuating them in a very blatant maneuver.

"Pauling, is that you?" she asked, her voice just slightly tinged with what Miss Pauling was unsure was either a Carolinian or Georgian accent. She didn't dare guess, in case she were wrong in an offensive way. "Are these two givin' you trouble already, honey? I can bounce 'em if you want." She giggled, smiling broadly as she did, standing tall and flexing for effect. To Miss Pauling, it was great effect, and she wondered if the woman was a gym rat or just naturally blessed with arms thick enough to require two hands to encircle.

It was too bad she was terribly jumbled in a mix of awkwardness, anxiety, and barely-contained horniness. Had the air conditioning turned off? She hazarded a smile, peeling her hands away from her head and her chin from the table, a blush rushing over her cheeks so quickly she half-worried her glasses would fog from the heat. "N-no trouble, Molly. They're just teasing me," she replied, tittering nervously and dragging her eyes kicking and screaming to meet the other woman's, immediately regretting it as she found herself lost in them and their dark depths.

Molly laughed at that, waving her hand, "Ain't fair to gang up on you like that! You boys be nice to Pauling or I'll have to steal 'er away from you!"

"Well when you put it like that, maybe we should be meaner," Reddy teased, watching Miss Pauling's eye twitch just a bit.

"Maybe you should," Molly hummed, grinning impishly before pulling a pen from her apron. "In the meantime, what should I get you three?"

"Old fashioned, splash cherry juice," Reddy announced with a smirk.

"Cosmopolitan," Bidwell said, narrowing his eyes at Reddy to intercept any incoming jokes about his taste in cocktails.

"And you, Miss P?" Molly asked, leaning in to address Miss Pauling once again, her smile growing a bit more devious as she watched the smaller woman's eyes flick down to her chest.

"Uh, ah, a New York sour," Miss Pauling stammered out, kicking herself inwardly.

"New York sour! You've got fine taste!" Molly straightened up and wrote down the orders. "I like mine with a splash of amaretto."

"That sounds nice," Miss Pauling replied, lamely.

"Sure does," Molly giggled. "Anythin' else I can get you?" She leaned against the side of the booth, next to Miss Pauling, her hip mere inches from brushing the smaller woman's arm. "Anythin' at all?"

Reddy and Bidwell looked expectantly from Molly to Miss Pauling, trying their damnedest to keep their expressions schooled. Inside, they were both screaming.

Miss Pauling looked up at her, her palms sweating. Ask for her number. No, ask if she's free Saturday. You're not free Saturday, you need to do a corpse dump! Shit. Ask when she's off shift!

"I—I think that's good to start, right guys?" Miss Pauling asked, looking from Reddy to Bidwell, terror overriding any and all charisma she might have been able to fake if she'd tried.

"Alright," Molly said, trying not to look too deflated. "I'll go get these orders in and start your tab. See y'all in a jiff!" She waved with her fingers and strode away to the bar.

Once she was out of earshot, Miss Pauling's face returned to the table, her forehead now in contact with the surface as she growled out a disgusted, "Oh my Gooooddddddd," against it.

Reddy snickered, and Bidwell merely laid a hand on her shoulder. "Pauling, that was possibly the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. I didn't know it was possible to strike out with a girl who's actively into you. She even gave you an opening, Pauling! Shit, she'd probably give you her opening if you'd asked!"

"Fuck you, Bids," Miss Pauling grunted, folding her arms around her head in utter defeat.

The name's Rhys, aka RC or Wolfy. Mid-20s, queer, he/they.

I mostly post edited screenshots of my various characters, pretty scenery, and other stuff that catches my eye, punctuated with the ramblings of yours truly. I also reblog other people's fantastic content, when I remember to hit the damn button. When inspiration strikes, I might toss up the occasional sketch or bit of writing as well.

I have never touched a queue and never will, so expect posting times to be sporadic. My tagging system is... loosely organized at best, but I try to keep things at least somewhat neat. Please do let me know if I've ever mistagged something, or if you need a specific trigger or term tagged for any reason, no questions asked.

My askbox is always open! I welcome any thoughts, comments, questions, or other inquiries about my characters or the game in general with open arms. ahh, well, "close" is relative. GAW is a lot like family, in that there's lots of people in the mix and you don't really know all of them as much (or as little) as you might want to.

mind you, they're also comrades, so I'd step up and fight for any of 'em. Especially the kids. it's a fucked-up world and they need someone in their corner.

last thing: I have, uh. problems. sharing past events. so I'm scared of getting too close to certain people. you know how it is.

I don't see a problem with it, so long as we make one thing clear: only a few of these characters are original to the MxTape. Everything else is based on my interpretations of existing works, and the original authors always have the final say.

Judith Feingold (thisisstupid12345): Desmond's sister; also a Hand member. Barely involved with GAW, but she kept logging into her brother's account and bones said that was against the rules, so here we are. Not magical, but very, very keen on guns, so she mostly talks with _FuddruckeR_.

bones: we got to talking after the whole "terrestrial years" thing, and as it turns out... it's not doing a bit! an actual alien satellite. That sorta blew my mind. bones is a bit short and perfunctory sometimes but I think it's just doing the absolute best it can with people it doesn't entirely understand, which... same, tbh?

acuterobot: adorable. following her tumblr blog got me in some trouble, but I don't hold that against her.

polaricecraps: ehhh complicated. I see a lot of myself in PIC, but he's smarter than I was at his age and that cuts both ways. He's in it for the right reasons but speaking from experience, that's a great way to shoot yourself in the foot. He also lost my fucking TAPE but I puked in his van a while back so we're calling it even.

Andressa (gaycopmp4) and Dahlia (hetcopogg): literally the cutest couple I've ever seen. Fierce, passionate, committed to justice... and, uh, their kid? pretty sure Heather (Ms. Mad About Video Games) counts as their daughter. I send them tons of care packages with how-to books and chill retro games.

Armand (harmpit): extremely funny, lots of cool tricks, really difficult to understand in conversation. Marginally easier in text.

kkrule and kektagon: drive me ABSOLUTELY FUCKING INSANE. They're basking in the low-grade background radiation of the Internet and they're going to get emotional cancer. I've been there and I desperately want to help steer them out of it but GOD DAMN they are insufferable.

opossum: even worse. Probably the single most abrasive person I've ever met. Always arguing. Banned multiple times but never perma'd.

FreakyGhostBed: doesn't get out much, so I installed a media server in his family's basement so he can keep busy while they're asleep. we've hung out a few times since then. we mostly talk about movies.

_FuddruckeR_ and orbhorse: live and work on a ranch in the Southern States. Fantastic hosts, so long as you can tolerate Fudd plinking at targets all day.

CommunismAnarchismNihilism: incredible source for zines and materiel, a decent percentage of which have some kind of juice to them. We trade stuff. we also argue a lot (politics) but that's all in good fun (I think?)

fallout_meta.txt: escaped some real nasty characters to become a better person. I respect that, and I respect their top-tier opsec, because I don't know a single thing about them besides what's necessary.

FunkoPopFan1: not very active in the chat (super shy), but extremely resourceful, good at manipulating plastics, and passionate about her hobbies. Sadly one of those hobbies is collecting funko pops.

tabris, hybridRainbow, starspark, chokerless and bluefootedboobies: I would ride or die for all these kids.

And finally, The Big Three.

Esther Kogan (lesbian_gengar): friendly in the chat but we haven't met in person, bc she has deep ties in Three Ports and maybe she heard something about my fuckup back in 2008. On the other hand... remember what I said about having a type? The type who could kick my ass? Well, LG could definitely do that. In fact she could probably fry my brain. Yow!

JJ (jockjamsvol6): this dude defies description. I mean yes, he's hot, and he's chill, but the second he walks into a room... you know you're in for some shit. JJ is always EXACTLY where he's supposed to be, and as a genre-savvy person, that is TERRIFYING, because the narrative flows AROUND HIM. It's like watching someone waltz through a hurricane; it's cool, but not super safe for whoever stands around gawking.

And lastly... Jude Kriyot (bluntfiend). The man, the myth, the legend. The guy who walked away from AWCY and lived to tell the tale. (Or lie about it, at least.)

This is where things get really difficult for me, cuz... well, I'm an anarchist. The idea of following any one guy doesn't appeal to me. BUT! there is no GAW without Jude, and once you meet him, you can understand why. He's got something special. Not confidence or charisma or whatever (he's actually a clumsy dork), but heart and integrity, for sure. He believes in humanity. He believes in something good, and when you're hanging out, you want to believe in it too.

That said, he's also a fucking mess. I'm not judging (I'm a mess too), but on some level, I like to think I'm getting my shit together. Jude is more like... uh, a shonen protagonist between story arcs. You know? He just sorta stews in his own funk. Depressed. Off in his own little world. Like Johnny Joestar, before meeting Gyro. There's only one person who can reliably shake him out of it, and... well, it's not me.

I admire Jude. I really do. I want to trust him with my secrets, but I can't, because he doesn't trust me with his. That's... fair. Trust is hard to earn. It's easier to lie. But when the chips are down, I've got Jude's back. I hope he'd do the same for me.

I run a PG-rated Discord server of gamers (mostly in their 30s-40s, but with a handful of kids and a couple of much older folks), very queer-friendly because, well. I'm the one running it.

A while back we had a trans woman hanging around a lot, occasionally making small talk about her personal life as well as games, as many people did. She was poly, made no secret of it, and as far as I could tell, no one was bothered.

One day I got a DM from another server member, someone I'd known for many years.

Them: So uh... Isn't your Discord server supposed to be family-friendly?

Me: We try to keep things PG, yeah, since some of the folks have their kids around. Why?

Them: Well, have you noticed that [person] has been pretty overtly talking about having BOTH a wife AND a boyfriend?

Me: Sure. Why, did she say something inappropriate?

Them: Well, you know... Listen, I'm not one to judge. I don't care if someone is trans or bi or whatever! But, I just think the whole "wife AND boyfriend" thing might be a little much, don't you?

Me: You mean... polyamory? Everyone involved is a consenting adult, happy with the situation, and she hasn't brought up anything sexual or otherwise explicit, right?

Them: Well, no. It's just... uncomfortable.

Me: Ah, I think I understand. Your stance is that if someone else's type of consensual adult relationship makes you uncomfortable, they shouldn't be allowed to mention it publicly? They should keep it hidden like a shameful secret? Like, I dunno... Well, for example, a lot of people are very uncomfortable with gay relationships, or with trans people existing.

Them: That's not the same thing!

Me: It isn't? Why not?

Them: Well, obviously, because...

Them: Ah. Right. Good point. Sorry.

For the record, if this person hadn't been prepared to do a little self-reflection and change their stance, they would no longer have been welcome in my community. And this person did have a history of discriminating against "acceptable" targets in years past - like insisting bisexuality didn't exist and people claiming to be bi had to "pick a side." Over time, they realized bisexuality was real, but moved on to the next "okay but THIS one is TOO FAR" target.

After that conversation, I never heard such things from that person again. As luck would have it, one very simple conversation was enough to make them rethink things going forward.

So don't just watch yourself - watch your friends, too. And call them out when they do this. Sometimes all they need is to have someone they respect push them to really analyze what they're saying. (And sometimes they will refuse to change under any circumstances, in which case... is that someone you really want to keep around?)

If you were someone who was anti-Ace during Ace Discourse and anti-Neopronouns/Xenogenders during Neo/Xeno Discourse and anti-Nonbinary during Nonbinary Discourse, but you've now accepted those things, except now you're Anti-Bi Lesbian, then you never learned why what you were doing was wrong and simply followed the crowd.

You still have internalized phobias that you never addressed, you still have issues regarding controlling other people's queer experiences, and until you actually and genuinely sit back and realize WHY being Anti-Ace, Anti-Neos/Xenos, Anti-Nonbinary etc. Was wrong, you are always going to be the bigot in the community. Learn self introspection, learn why you continued to be against queer identities you didn't understand, or you will always find yourself on the wrong side of the goalpost, and you will never grow.

Take a second to think about an argumentative sentence you've used and replace "bi lesbian" with any other queer identity you used to hate and you'll realize that at the root of it all, it's the same queerphobia but with a new subject to target.

It can feel so stifling to try networking as a queer nsfw artist post-tumblr porn ban because often it feels like even nsfw places that are queer-friendly are full of straight folks that are just hostile to queer art

(Take this next part with a grain of salt because it's been a while since I've been very active there) I've seen this a couple of times with the official Cloud Meadow discord as an example, the game is very obviously queer friendly and the Discord has explicit rules to protect against queerphobic language and attitudes and the staff was very good about enforcing rules... But the server was still pretty influenced by straight guys who liked the game, the art that always did the best was stuff that falls under the general gamer-male gaze, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it did start feeling hard to post fanwork there just because it always seemed like it didn't quite match with the server culture the users had built, I'm still in the server for updates on the game and it might be different now but I stepped away a lot because of that

I tried a few times to be involved in networks or art shares for nsfw art too, but those were still often dominated by art for and by straight men, like, I know other horny queer people are out there, I want to find more of them

Evading the government while trying not to become a cryptid sighting meme on social media, and also you might have an ancient deity of death hitchhiking in your brain and occasionally turning you into a wolf. Set on an Alternate Earth where everyone has a little magic.

1) the game itself. Its minecraft. Weve seen the amazing and creative things people do with minecraft. People have gone around country censorship laws on books with minecraft. Schools use it for education. Its available to anyone with a device and 10 eur (mobile ver). It helps connect people, giving a fun space to interact with others. Immense parallel play grounds. Huge diversity for play styles. Neurodivergency friendly - no eye contact or body language processing required.

Qsmp has many mods that make the game prettier and also - accessible. Warp stones and plates have made lovely community hubs, the brazilians made cute little bus stops that take you places, multiple players have made freely accessible experience farms so other players can always use these teleportation devices.

2) the server (+admins). Its whole premise is removing language barriers. In-game real-time translations are available in SO many languages. People can talk comfortably in their native language, other people see the translation in THEIR native language and reply the same way. No middle language.

As the server has progressed, more and more accessibility accommodating changes have been implemented. Whenever there is even a small complaint about accessibility the admins are ON that shit.

3) The community. Speaking of admins they really make sure the streamers are having fun. Besides the lore, the admins tend to show up as diverse characters to simply hang out and provide company.

There could be a segment about streams themselves too! Hanging out in chats, putting streams on to feel companionship, improve your day and so on.

Quackity has picked out such kind people to play on it. The streamers are all about communication and making sure everyone feels comfortable. They hype up the communitys fan content and have made a big interconnected cross-banning network to keep their chats polite.

The communities of the streamers are very kind too (yes there are bad apples- this post is about positivity instead). There is support all around for language learners, people who delve into experiencing the different cultures, artists (includes EVERY art form) and the people who are just here to simply have fun.

4) QUEER ON PURPOSE. WE HAVE SO MUCH QUEER REP. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY ARO/+/ACE PEOPLE IN ONE PLACE. SEE THIS POST AND THIS ONE!!!!

5) the LORE! The whole storyline is based on companionship, community and love. Even if you cannot trust someone, you will still help them because there are more powerful things trying to kill or torture you and everyone you love. You will extend your hand to your mortal enemy as many times as you need to have them safe again.

Create mod nerds are making farms and factories for first the benefit of others and only second for bragging rights of being the richest on the server. They only want to be rich to give it away to others. There are stockpiles of resources, community resource chests, players carry around things they dont need in case someone else might. Badboyhalo didnt have to spend days grinding armour for the kids but he did it anyway.

In the qsmp world, where the federation and code entities (i know its complicated - its still relevant) and mysterious eye creatures and the world itself wants to kill you, its so easy to become hostile or apathetic but no one does. Because love and care prevail above all else.

Even if you think youre beyond saving - possessed, killing your friends, killing their children; losing grip on who you remember yourself to be - people will still turn to rehabilitation first. They WILL love you. They DO love you.

Specific examples i hold dear: characters with memory loss or inability to tell reality from dreams. How others treat them. Fit believes in phil 100%, even if the things phil describes seeing fit cant see. Fit and pac paused their date and took phil with them to their date location to make sure their friend wasnt alone. Etoiles patiently reminds badboyhalo about his memories, the places theyre in, the people around badboy, without judgement or frustration. As many times as badboy needs. Bagi was all laughs about it at first but she saw the way etoiles acted and mirrored him.

Its so gentle everyone is so gentle and caring. ON PURPOSE. They CHOOSE to love and choose to do it so INTENTIONALLY. And they will OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT TOO

PRIDEFALL UPDATE: real or fake?

What is Pridefall?

Operation Pridefall, also known as Project Pridefall or simply Pridefall, refers to an attack planned by /pol/ (a political discussion board on the anonymous website 4chan) for all of June, AKA Pride month. The original 4chan thread, which has since been deleted, was primarily focused on “redpilling,” i.e. spreading queerphobic propaganda to make people question the LGBTQ+ community. However, now that it has spread outside 4chan, there are threats of harassing, doxxing, and outing queer people (especially minors) on social media, spamming gore and rape videos in private messages and Pride tags, and even kidnapping, assaulting, or killing queer people in real life.

Specific targets include Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and dating apps. The goal is to go after smaller accounts so the queerphobia isn’t lost in the comments.

Is Pridefall real?

Yes and no.

I searched “pridefall” on 4chan last night. Apparently any new threads on it are being deleted, and anytime someone mentions it, everyone calls them slurs and says no one is doing it.

However, Pridefall is gaining some traction on Instagram--I have seen it for myself. I don’t have TikTok or any dating apps, but I’ve heard that some people are spamming homophobia on TikTok. As for Twitter, I only looked briefly, but I saw some Pridefall accounts there, as well as a lot of warnings and blocklists from people who are worried about it.

I’ve also heard that there have been a few Reddit and Discord raids, and that there is an Operation Pridefall Discord server (someone who spied on them says they have been banned on Discord as well as a platform called Riot before, so very few people are left on the Discord server now).

What do you think, Lia?

This is not coming from 4chan. No one on 4chan is interested anymore.

Most likely, people outside of 4chan heard about it and decided to take matters into their own hands.

The original 4chan thread wanted to make Pridefall “normie-palatable” by avoiding Nazi imagery or other overt unpleasantness, but I have seen a LOT of both on Instagram. This reinforces my belief that 4chan isn’t doing this.

A lot of the people behind this are young, or at least unsophisticated. Most of the Pridefall accounts on Instagram engage in very childish trolling, and one of them said they were a minor. Some of the threats I’ve seen are so outlandish that I can only imagine they came from a fairly young person.

My guess? Most of these people are around 13-19.

There are also very few of them and some of them probably have multiple accounts. Anti-Pridefall accounts outnumber them by far.

However, on Instagram I’ve seen Pridefall accounts following each other and commenting on each other’s posts, so there may be a few groups working together.

A lot of this shit is going to get deleted. I know Instagram is working through reports very slowly right now because they have fewer people available due to COVID-19, but most of the worst accounts I saw last night were deleted by this morning. I saw some more accounts deleted today.

Most, if not all, of these Pridefallers are just trying to scare us. Because they’re probably quite young, there’s very few of them, their accounts keep getting deleted, and law enforcement can track online activity, there is no way they have the balls or resources needed to coordinate major attacks.

There is a very, very slight chance this could spill over into real life, but as long as you practice basic online safety, you will be fine.

That being said, if you are threatened or doxxed by a Pridefall account, PLEASE contact the police. Better safe than sorry.

I do think that the threat of being doxxed or outed is more real than the threat of being attacked. I have already seen one Pridefall account who posted a trans boy’s address on Instagram (he is okay, he posted recently) and another who posted someone else’s address.

There is little chance this will last throughout Pride month. Apparently the goal is for Pridefall to worsen until the end of June, but given that this is most likely just some vastly outnumbered teenage trolls who are bored in quarantine, I seriously doubt they’ll be able to stay interested for a whole month.

This might not be as big on Tumblr. Tumblr is a lot more anonymous than, say, Instagram, which will hopefully deter would-be doxxers. It’s also known to be a highly liberal and queer-friendly site, so any Pridefaller with half a brain cell should know that A) their content is sure to be outnumbered and reported (only us Tumblr users know how bad staff is at deleting questionable stuff), and B) anyone with the original goal of “redpilling” is sure to fail here. Plus, I only remember seeing few, if any, mentions of Tumblr on Pridefall planning threads.

Still, expect to see some Pridefall activity here. Unsurprisingly, not all of these Pridefallers have half a brain cell. Some of them will definitely be unable to resist the lure of a community as openly queer as Tumblr, and we’ve all seen or heard about doxxing, harassment, gore, Nazis, and queerphobes on here. Also, 4chan has historically had some beef with Tumblr, so young teenage boys who idolize 4chan may target us for that reason.

How can I stay safe?

If you have any social media accounts where you A) have posted identifying personal information, and B) are openly supportive of the LGBTQ+ community (especially if you’re queer yourself), put them on private for June. Any other accounts are probably fine to stay public.

If you need a private Tumblr, you can make a password-protected secondary account and only share the password with mutuals you trust.

It is probably okay to be openly queer on a private account (e.g. have pronouns/rainbow emojis in your Instagram bio), since a private account is not likely to be doxxed. But if you want to be extra careful, remove queer identifiers from anything that is publicly visible.

Use Pridefall blocklists. They’re all over Instagram and Twitter. I may repost some here.

Report any Pridefall accounts you see. This is VERY important because this is how we can actually get rid of Pridefall content.

DON’T RESPOND TO ANY PRIDEFALLERS WHO PERSONALLY INTERACT WITH YOU. I know it’s tempting to give a snarky reply, but if they message you, comment on your post, etc, just block them. Seriously, don’t feed the trolls. It's exactly what they want.

Make sure your password game is strong. Use a different password for every site (I know, I know, it sucks), and use passwordmeter.com to test their strength. Write them all down on a piece of paper.

Make sure your username game is strong. Don’t use the same username for multiple sites, and avoid putting personal information in your username, such as your name or birthday.

Do NOT open random links!! Pridefallers could message you links that will give you viruses or track your IP address.

Don’t accept DMs or follows from people you don’t know. Pridefall accounts don’t always look like Pridefall accounts. Some of them are undercover.

Use a VPN. This is probably a little overkill unless you’re particularly at risk of being doxxed, but it will hide your IP address.

Be careful who you interact with. A lot of queer people on Instagram are DMing Pridefall accounts or commenting on their posts, but this could make you a target. As helpful as anti-Pridefall accounts are, you might even be targeted for following those.

Be wary of Pride tags. Unfortunately, a lot of Pridefall accounts plan to infiltrate tags commonly used by queer creators during Pride month. Use discretion when looking for queer content.

Be safe IRL. Lock your doors, lock your windows, be aware of your surroundings, don’t walk alone in poorly lit places, know basic self-defense, etc. Again, I absolutely do not think people will be attacked in real life, but you should be doing this shit all the time, not just in June. Thanks to COVID-19, you’re safer inside anyway!!

Make yourself hard to dox. Even though I have a very unusual first name (it's not really Lia), I am extremely hard to find online. I just went into an incognito browser window and searched my first and last name in quotation marks, but I didn’t find myself until page 4 of Google (and that result wasn’t even posted by me). I’m only half as careful as I could be, but here’s some of the things I do:

-I never use a picture of myself as my profile pic, except for Facebook and Instagram, which are both on the highest privacy settings possible.

-If I post identifying information on a public account (my college, my age, etc), I use a pseudonym or my first name only.

-On Instagram, I only use my first name, and I used special characters to type it, so you won’t find me if you search my name.

-On Facebook, I only accept friend requests from people I know. Most, if not all, of my Instagram followers are IRL friends, friends of IRL friends, and trusted Internet friends.

-If I’m really being paranoid, I’ll make a brand-new email account to sign up for a site. That way, my accounts aren’t all linked through one email address.

-Before I post a picture online, I delete the EXIF data with verexif.com, since EXIF data can hold GPS coordinates.

I’m putting together a resource for fellow queer folk! This started out being just for a couple discord servers I was in, but tbh, I know this could be useful for a lot of people outside of just me and my friends, and I’m sure there are plenty of people who know way more queer artists than we do or than I’ve been able to dig up through research. So, this link will allow anyone to edit this spreadsheet and add artists! An artist doesn’t have to have explicitly queer songs to make it onto the list - there’s a color-coded field for whether they do or not - but so long as they identify as part of the community, they’re perfectly fine! International artists are also welcome, just be sure to note which language they are! This is specifically for queer artists though, not allies or artists who are popular with queer folk, like Hozier for example. As of my posting this, I’ve got 40 artists already, but I’d love to see hundreds in here someday. Let’s share some queer music!

We are running an 18 and older Discord server and we don’t mind you discussing all sorts of topics, including sex. I mean, we’re gay. It’s okay. Just don’t be inappropriate. Don’t link to porn, under 18 content, illegal content, or you know, all the stuff we already mentioned above. Don’t upload under 18 or NSFW content in the chat, don’t use porn/violent/discriminative GIFs, don’t swear like a sailor, don’t spam.

Using our community Discord for sexual acts or intercourse, the promotion of sexual services and the exploitation of children is prohibited.

We will have zero tolerance for Gaymers who bully, harass, verbally abuse or berate other Gaymers in-game, on Discord or any other platforms Queer Your Game is on. Hate speech is not okay. Do not promote violence against anyone, especially other marginalized folks. If we catch you bashing on someone, alone or in a group, you’re done.  

If you have a disagreement with someone or you’re getting upset and you feel like lashing out, find a Mod, take a break. If you can’t manage what’s going on in the moment, walk away, send us an email or DM us. Criticism should always be polite and constructive. In fact, one of the mottos we use in every aspect of our work at Queer Your Game is “To be a voice of criticism, be a force of proposition.” It’s good advice; you’re welcome.

Trolling in-game, on Discord and other platforms Queer Your Game is on is unacceptable. Don’t ruin the experience of other people. That goes for spoiling. Whether it’s about a game, a movie, a book, a tv show, just don’t spoil, okay? Now, we know some of you will want to talk about every bit of spoiler and juicy news out there so we made you a channel on Discord.

In-game, we expect you to show fair play, to win with dignity and lose with grace, and to support your fellow Gaymers and teammates. Cheating and hacking are prohibited. Respect in-game rules and codes of conduct. No friendly kills, no awoxing, no spawn killing, no stealing from other Gaymers, no destroying other Gaymers property. Oh and no botting.

Raging is a no-go. Don’t rage quit, don’t yell at your fellow Gaymers, don’t insult people, don’t swear excessively, etc.. If you can’t handle what’s going on in-game, if you know you’re going to lose it, walk away. It’s that simple.

Cooperation and support are promoted within Queer Your Game. We like transparency and we think that champions, raid leaders and more skilled Gaymers should lead and help and teach and theorycraft and strategize and all the good things that can advance their fellow Gaymers, their own teams, parties and guilds of Gaymers. Just don’t go around sharing all of that on social media unless it’s made clear that it’s okay or you’re the person who came up with it.

At Queer Your Game we consider ourselves proponents of social justice and equal rights. We also know what a lot of social media platforms and communities refuse to acknowledge: tech and media are not neutral and no community or person is apolitical. While we encourage conversation and we understand that nobody’s perfect and no content is unproblematic, we want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy the diversity of our community as they have fun, share, learn, educate themselves and grow. We expect all Gaymers to be on their best behavior. If you witness any of the following behaviors, report it to a Mod.

Racism, anti-blackness, xenophobia, white supremacy, Islamophobia, antisemitism, cultural appropriation, and bigotry will not be tolerated.

If you’re a transphobe or a TERF, don’t apply. We don’t want you. We also expect Gaymers to respect their fellow Gaymers’ pronouns. Misgendering will be sanctioned.

Sexism and misogyny won’t be tolerated. If you’re a white feminist, we don’t like you either. And if you don’t know what that is, we encourage you to check Google.

Ableism, food-shaming, fat-shaming, and all physical discrimination or belittling are rude and forbidden.

Don’t police, gatekeep, etc.. We have Mods and Admins, and we have guidelines. Your judgment of others is not required nor welcome.

Threats, incitation to violence and self-destroying behaviors, and any activity or conversation that could lead to your physical or emotional harm are completely forbidden and will get a Gaymer banned.

Suicide stunts or self-harm for attention-seeking, entertainment, or bad jokes will be sanctioned.

We have created an SOS text chat and voice channel on our Discord. Our intention is to provide a safe space for any Gaymer who would find themselves in a sudden and terrible struggle. If you are in danger, if you are in crisis, if you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, etc., anything that would require immediate assistance, you can, if you choose to, go into the SOS text and voice channels.

We want to make it clear that, even though our Moderators are notified that if they are alerted or see a Gaymer in an SOS channel, they should immediately check on them, we cannot shoulder the responsibility of your well being and your safety. We will not offer professional and trained support even if some of our Moderators and Admins could be trained professionals. For now, we can only provide you with a safe space and common sense help if we are able. We will call the police or an ambulance if you need them and we happen to be able to. We will stay with you if you require a presence. We will help provide you with crisis helpline phone numbers if they’re available where you reside so you can seek the appropriate help.

Please don’t abuse the SOS channels. We cannot stress enough that this specific gesture is a way for Queer Your Game to show you in action that we care. We are not in any position to be responsible for your safety and/or your well being and we do not make any promises of trained support or life-altering actions. Therefore Queer Your Game—as private individuals or as a corporation—is not liable for you.

Rule Enforcement 

Queer Your Game is a moderated space, on Discord, on Social Media, in forums, and in-game. We have Moderators, Admins, and Super Admins.

As a moderated space and community, Queer Your Game does, in fact, exercise a certain censure as described in our community guidelines. We reserve the right to change them, although we will let you know when that happens.

The appreciation of your violations and of your behaviors remain up to the discretion of our Mods, Admins and Super Admins. You can appeal a sanction, a temporary kick or ban, a definitive ban, etc. by emailing us at community@queeryourgame.com. The decision to maintain, alter or lift your sanction(s) is also to the discretion of our Mods, Admins and Super Admins.

The offense system is as follows:

You can get warnings of different gravity in-game, in Discord chat or voice channels, in your mentions and in your DMs or PMs depending on the platform you commit your offense on.

If warnings don’t have an immediate impact on your behavior, you can be asked to a private conversation with a Mod, an Admin or a Super Admin on Discord.

A small offense will get you an email, a DM or a PM, possibly a temporary time out or kick, most likely a private scolding and a mark on your account.

A serious offense will get you the same treatment as a small offense, a definite scolding, a kick or ban for the length we deem fit, and you will lose your status in the community. When you come back, you will have to go through a return interview and you will start fresh as a Padawan Gaymer on probation.

A grave offense will mean your immediate kick from our Discord and a ban will be decided by our team of Mods, Admins, and Super Admins. You’ll receive an email informing you of your ban and our definitive decision.

We may ask for your opinions, thoughts, and ideas in polls and voting events.

We at Queer Your Game think strongly about the ethics of our project. We believe in transparency and in taking in different perspectives. To that end, we regularly consult with outside professionals in different fields and we are in the process of recruiting different individuals for our reference and sensitivity group.

Hi. Is this thing on? Lauren Graham said in her new book that we should write more so this is my attempt at that. Oh by the way, I started reading again. I write these for myself so why don’t I just use “we”, but that will probably be weird reading it back. I’ve read Feminasty: The Complicated Woman’s Guide To Surviving The Patriarchy Without Drinking Herself To Death, Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice On Love And Life From Dear Sugar, and now I’m almost done with Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls To Gilmore Girls. I’ve gone through several lists to pick out the books I plan on reading in the next few months, at least if I can afford them, but I like to think the books I ultimately bought found me and not the other way around. I have been read cover to cover, my soul pierced, and my mind opened. Of course fiction books have a similar effect but I never thought I would be interested in what people had to say about this grand thing called life and I learned that I cared a whole lot, not because I wanted to model myself after them but because I care about people and reading their explanations on life is like suddenly remembering they’re my best friends and they’re just catching me up on little secrets that come packed with nuggets of wisdom. 

I got myself into several situations I never planned on getting myself into even though the red flags were there and even though the people very openly said “Hey, this is exactly who I am”, but you know how your mind works when you have anxiety and depression. You start to convince yourself the puzzle pieces you find yourself assembling are actually part of the picture even though they don’t fit because deep down you’re trying to finish the puzzle of your life and no one is giving you quite the right pieces. In other words, and to quote my friend Allie, I drank a nice glass of “dumb bitch” juice. Which lead me to want to consider joining a dating site sooner than I planned. I know these things take time but it’s been 3 days and I’ve sent 40 likes (I think that’s how okcupid works idk) and practically got 0 back. Here’s why that sucks. On okcupid they focus strongly on your personality and beliefs. So someone not only saw my face and said “yeesh no thanks” they took the time to get to know the information about myself I put on there and were still like “yikes I don’t think so”. So all in all this was an experiment in derailing my self esteem and increasing my depression. What crazy color will I dye my hair to suddenly avoid dealing with my problems? Or maybe I’ll give myself another buzzcut. Stay tuned!

On a serious note, a lot of the stories I’m reading made me SO relieved that at 27 I’m still very much single and have only had 1 relationship which wasn’t that great (it was both of our faults). There were so many stories and anecdotes about young love being messy and about true commitment coming in your 40′s. Honestly, idk if I can wait that long. If NASA and the CIA and the FBI were like “you have been randomly selected to test mating with androids” I’d be like “yes please but can I choose their face”. I mean realistically I’m in the worst position to be in a relationship. For one, I don’t have much money saved because I’m sadly addicted to ordering things online, most of which are either useful to me or to my job (and no I don’t get reimbursed but I think the prospect of waiting for something in the mail to kill time is momentarily greater than the prospect of having more money later). I still live at home. Obviously, that’s a hella yikes and tbf I’m reading to get the fuck out of here but {see A: i have no money} and I have no one to move in with. I keep doing extensive research but I learned that in 2018 everywhere is problematic. So as much as my love for NYC is slowly fading I also realize this is it for me! I’m a city gal who needs to be surrounded by diversity. I can’t do suburbs and I can’t do living near more than 50% white people. I’ll die. I know that’s discriminatory but we are in the dawn of BBQ Beckys so can you blame me when the majority of white people keep voting against my existence. So I’m stuck. Every once in a while I look up “most LGBT friendly places to live” or “least racist places to live” and hope there’s a magical place with both but there isn’t (especially since, hello, twinks are hella racist). But I’ve literally cuddled my body pillow to death: it broke apart and I need a new one. And I learned I can’t fall asleep unless I’m cuddling it because I’m that lonely.

Everything in life is so complicated. I hate not being out at work but at the same time everyone there is ignorant so I wouldn’t be any more comfortable having them walking on eggshells around me. I love the individuals though and sometimes I feel very motherly or big brotherly towards them and they make me REALLY love work. But I want to be me. And I want to get rid of my legal name. Every time someone calls me John I die inside. Sometimes I don’t even respond because I have to be like “oh shit that’s me”. Can I change my name now? Probably, just have to have the money and redo all my paperwork at work? Will i? No because then either a) the individuals will have to learn my new name and their lives are confusing as fuck as it is or b) i keep my current legal name as a nickname but then it will get confusing for paperwork. I don’t like inconveniencing people that much even for something super important to me. I’ll just die inside until I save enough money, do my last few undergrad psyche classes, and then get into grad school. So like in 5 years, knowing me.

I’ve developed some little crushes here and there but most of the time it’s people that live out of reach or are straight or bottoms or any combination of them or I can just tell they will never like me in that way. So honestly, why bother. I miss the days when I didn’t care about this and the only thing plaguing my mind was what show I should marathon while building in minecraft.

Speaking of games, I play a lot with my friend Sal. He’s like my best friend which is weird because he was my boss once on a minecraft server but now I can’t ever think of him that way? He’s more like an older brother now, even though he’s younger than me. We talk a lot and also enjoy a lot of silence, and introduce each other to different games and shows. But mostly games. We’re both obsessed with 7 Days To Die and I check constantly for news about the update (no set dates for Alpha 17 AHHHH). To fill that void we started playing Fortnite, which I know a lot of people make fun of but it’s actually fun. Here’s a fun fact about me: I can’t take serious games serious so if there’s no building element, or fun element, or explosives I can blow things up with, I won’t do it. I have 0 competitive bones in this body. I like to have fun. That’s why Fortnite is perfect because it is a competitive FPS type game but it’s also a parody of that genre and it’s so whimsical. Save The Day is a lot like 7 Days To Die so that’s been fun. Listen, when you play a game with someone and you beat it, especially a survival game, it’s such a relief and you learn so much and it’s like you went on a literal adventure with that person. Did Sal and I actually get stranded on an island full of mutants and cannibals? No but that’s what it actually felt like after finishing The Forest because it was that real for us. My love for Pocket Camp is fading because it’s the same stuff, new textures. I mean the prospect of having a cute camp is fun sometimes (fun enough for me to spend way too much money on it. HELP!) but now it’s like “oh they just stand there and I don’t really do anything”. ALTHOUGH they are saying that now they are adding a LOT more gameplay to the point that you need at least 1gb of space of the game so I’m excited. I’m still obsessed with minecraft so there’s nothing new there.

Here’s something weird. I spent much of my time, when I identified as gay, being annoyed at gay stereotypes and mostly twinks being like “if you don’t do x,y,z you might as well be straight”, so much so that now that I came out as queer those things still bother me and I have to be like “it’s okay that’s not you anymore you literally figured this out which is why you’re this person”. That’s how I should introduce myself tbh “Hi I’m the Q in LGBTQ”. I don’t care about fitting in but because of my lack of in person friends sometimes I worry that maybe I should care, just a little. I’m so tempted to try Tinder just for that but then I think of all the people who have Tinder that live in this building and I’m like God that is a huge mistake. I need a huge life change. I need someone to come in and shake up my life but no one has volunteered. I’m kind of regretting thinking of all those stupid romantic things like “Oh I want my future boyfriend to teach my how to ride a bike :)” “I want my future boyfriend to take me traveling” “I want my future boyfriend to serenade me”. I’ll just become a full on Capricorn and teach myself everything, travel the world alone, and serenade my goddamn self.

Speaking of which again, can my depression like.. not? I was so into learning and practicing chords daily and I just stopped? Like my motivation was like “It’s been a nice 1 week. back to not caring about anything again” I mean I started to try to learn Burn and Satisfied from Hamilton (well, “learn”) so I at least have interest and I still listen to classical music and jazz to light that fire under my ass but still. I’m just going to do what I always do and restart from lesson 1 and hope I make it to 3 although my extensive research of chords has already put me at an advantage for lesson 3, which is chords. Of course I would go and try to learn something in an unstructured manner because I have a problem with routine and authority even when that authority is me.
