El being *12 hours earlier* than the Cali timeline when she arrives at Nina. Will saying ‘it’s been 9 hrs’ in the scene following his monologue in the van.
We know that at some point their timelines merged when they arrived to save her…
But we don’t know when exactly those alignments took place when they were still apart… which just makes you wonder…

Invited some friends over for a sticker sorting party last night!! These are a ton of stickers I've bought/received over the past few months. We had already put some away by the time I thought to take a picture, but it still was enough to make me feel amazed by how much my friends enable me... XD
We were in like an open lobby area, so several people walked by, asked what we were doing, and then went "oh that's awesome, hang on" and left for a bit before returning with stickers of their own. Some sticker trading occurred, of course <3 The capybara sticker and the Mike and Ike candies were both gifts from passersby.

This was fine. This was totally fine. The ghost bull Danny was currently trying to wrangle crashed through another wall. Okay. Maybe this wasn't totally fine but he had it all under control. The bull bucked as it smashed a car. He was trying alright? As Danny just barely managed to steer the bull away from another building, he caught a red and yellow blur. Oh joy! A hero. And when he was just plain old Danny Fenton too. Nothing could go wrong in this situation, nothing at all.

i think i’ve learned a lot when it comes to not applying my own values to the media i consume
for my script analysis class yesterday, we discussed two gentleman from verona, and nearly every classmate of mine was up in arms about how sexist the story is.
and i'm not saying it's not, or that it's not infuriating to read. but i'm also not putting my energy into getting upset about something written 500 or so years ago. and i'm not about to put my own beliefs onto these characters that are not me. i'm going to let their choices speak for themselves, and interpret it in the context of the story.
all that said, this now brings me to the point of alastor in episode 5, and how viscerally people are responding to it. those of you up in arms about the choices he’s making, and the violent threat he gave husk, you’re missing the entire point of his character, of this place they’re in, of the story being told. he’s an overlord, and he became an overlord by killing much bigger overlords and broadcasting their deaths over the radio.
HE IS NOT A GOOD PERSON.
if you started this show with the belief that every character working the hotel is a good person, you’re in the wrong place. watch the good place if you’re looking for a good wholesome story about getting dead sinners into heaven, because that’s not what this show is about.
you’re more than welcome to hate him after seeing the way he exerted power over a being whose soul he owns, but you’re doing the media you’re watching a disservice by writing it off so quickly. if you don’t like to be uncomfortable watching media, watch something else. this is an uncomfortable show, it handles uncomfortable topics, and it’s going to be an uncomfortable ride, and if you’re not up for something like that, then you should take a break from it and pick up something else. you don’t have to get online and defend your own ideals while you watch a show that goes against your ideals.
#hazbin hotel spoilers#that’s not even touching on the fact that husk was an overlord too#he also owned souls that he used as currency to supply his gambling addiction#he’s also not a good person!!#the majority of these characters are in hell for a reason: they’re not good people#i quite frankly love the way this show blurs the lines between good and evil#our heroes are sinners and overlords and demons. while the enemies are angels. but that doesn’t mean our heroes are good people.#you HAAAVE to come to terms with that!! you have to stop seeing the world in black and white or you’re not going to survive this world#if you’re upset because alastor was cruel to husk fine! be upset! but explore why you’re taking yourself out of that world.#in this world sinners own other people. there’s no ifs ands or buts#‘oh alastor is a poc why would he own people’ he was a serial killer when he was alive do you really think you can apply your values to that#(and this is me speaking as a poc. specifically a mixed race poc.)#i cannot speak to who vivzie is as a person. but i’m interested in the message she’s writing and thus far i’m finding it compelling#it’s a similar story as the good place but it’s going the distance to explore even worse people than those in the good place#i don’t think it’s responsible to write something off just because unsavory things happen in it.#and she’s giving us so many different types of representation that don’t involve race (although we’re also getting a lot of hispanic rep)#just like cool your jets and maybe process some of the anger you’re feeling. and maybe nothing will change.#but if you act. instead of react. if you understand why you’re feeling some type of way and then make a choice.#that’s so much stronger and more responsible than reacting and not thinking anything through#hazbin hotel#alastor#husk#hazbin alastor#hazbin husk#anyway let me get off my soapbox#long post

INSOMNIA!//
I say this all the time, but another banger MV by Eve~
I REALLY wanted to make a profound piece but ultimately the sketch went through so many iterations over the last 3 weeks that I lost steam for the project... so here are the sketches that I kept.
Sleep deprived ramble abt things that i really liked about the MV under the cut (sleep deprived wasn't meant to be a joke that's just what i am rn lol-)
I rewatched this MV many, MANY times so i could figure out what i wanted to draw (you're welcome Eve for giving you another million trillion gazillionviews) and I wanted to note some of deets i enjoyed
big fan of the moment before the second chorus where Monika's monitors (at least i'm assuming) capture mc 'sleepwalking' because of his zingai
(and i just went to Mariyasu's page and it turns out I got that spot on- the sleepwalking portion that is, still don't know abt Monika HAHA)
You can actually see his Zingai in all the opening scenes somewhere in the background, and i think that's fun... like after their first meeting he never left
MC's room is riddled with medication... I can only speculate that it's to treat some sort of pain that comes with the burns he has, as he takes it in the morning and evening (I guess it could also be sleep medication, but he has it on his table before work, which would be counterintuitive)
Love the stark contrast of yellow and that deep blue/ almost black - not entirely sure what is means/ represents, but it's obvious that it holds significance to the character as his eyes go from a bright yellow to that deep blue.
(added this thought last:) I think it may have something to do with the divide between fantasy and reality, dream and the waking world... so it makes sense that the character in his older age adorns himself in those darker colors as he's trying to be more 'present', but in times where he fantasizes/dreams either he or the world around him is enveloped in yellow. For example, when he's at work and he wishes to be anywhere BUT there he's wearing the most yellow as he thinks about... y'know. (I'm going to end up saying this a few times, but i think that it's cute that before MC 'breaks' there are little bits of yellow in his attire, as if he's still holding on the the hope that comes with dreaming. It also makes sense that the MV is called 'Insomnia' as the MC is struggling to 'fall back asleep', to return to dreaming as he was when he was a child - again going back to how his waking design is mostly deep blue/black as he lost it. Blue/black = Being awake + reality, Yellow = Being asleep + things pertaining to fantasy)
Really like (is like the right word for this?) that his younger self is a bit of a brat and we can see that from a young age he's had a deep distain for people, already dehumanizing them as fragile things to be destroyed for fun (and i understand why he would as indicated later in the MV)... Although he never grew out of that perspective (in fact it's gotten worse) it seems he's learned to at least control the impulse to destroy
The first loop around we see things from his balloon perspective, not really viewing people as human, the second time around (after his reoccurring memory-dream thing) the people are actual people, and we can see the actual destruction caused by enacting his childhood fantasy - but judging by his reaction to the news he wasn't aware of that at all. We were viewing that scene from the outside perspective, as implied by the fact we can't see his zingai leading him out while he's sleepwalking. I think that's a super cool detail
During the climax (where MC fully breaks lol) we can see yellow balloons floating into the air, which i think is a bittersweet moment. Like MC is finally able to view people as people while he's awake but it took confronting his inner child and getting hit by a truck to do that :(
I think that MC also has distain for his younger self as seen in the climax... like he doesn't want to be the type of person that carries out his fantasies anymore... he just wants his Zingai
He's clearly a deeply troubled guy but the fact that he cares enough to let himself rot and not anyone else is sorta sweet... from a character perspective, anyway. I understand the feeling
someone in the comments on yt also hc'd that the person that was crumbling up the newspaper near the end was Otogiri, as: A.) The sleeves match, and B.) he tried to call mc earlier but he declined, and he ends up seeing him later in prison/recovery...
So he might have been crumbling up the paper in frustration with him... i think it's really neat... and sort of endearing in a way? Like I can almost hear Tobi thinking 'Why didn't he listen to me??? He should've listened to me... now look at the mess he's in. Making me do more work to bail him out...'
I think those are all my biggest thoughts haha. I could do a frame by frame analysis of this series, it's so good. Understanding Japanese would probably make this a lot easier to do, but the fact I was able to get all of this just from watching is incredible enough, Mariyasu did an excellent job. Thanks for reading~

hey does it ever make you kind of crazy that post-reunion, c!owen introduces himself to us as owen agarci? agarci as in the name of the demon he shot in the chest during his trial? we know that's not c!owen's real last name -- he tells us so right then and there -- but i think it matters that of the last names he could have chosen for his lie, he took this one. his last name might have been the only thing he still carried with him of his family, of his past before the attack, and he refuses to use it or admit to it.
because it is an introduction, y'know? his narration, after the reunion, is a way of remaking himself in our eyes -- he is not the person we thought he was, so he needs to introduce himself again. and here, the thing he claims as his originating point, as the moment from his past he wants to carry around with him in something so fundamental as his name, is the moment he first killed a demon. this is the most important piece of his past. this, he is telling us, is where he comes from.
i think a lot about how we never actually see owen's parents. i don't even think we get their names? we get their voices in flashbacks over shots of empty fields and unpopulated streets. there is a kind of blankness to owen's past, or to what owen will reveal to us of his past, that forces us to take on faith that he is telling the truth when he talks about his own history. there is no one who could say otherwise; all the people who might have known him before he was a soldier and then a general are almost certainly dead.
it grants owen a fascinating degree of control over his own history. of course he can remake himself in this way, of course he can tell any story he wants of himself in this way; there's no one left to dispute his claims. in a way, he is his own origin -- as he tells us the story of his life, he is also creating that story. he came out of those woods with nothing but a bow on his back, no history, no one still living who could call to him by name. whatever life he lived before that point doesn't matter -- the thing that fundamentally made him the person who walked into town and demanded to join the army wasn't the life he lived with his parents, it was the violence he'd been exposed to and the violence he'd discovered himself willing and able to engage in. or so his story goes.
do you think when he woke up at the bottom of that elevator, memories wiped, nothing left to him of his past, there was some strange sense that he had done this before? do you think he rose up toward the light of the clearing above, empty-handed and alive, his entire life before this point a history waiting for him to tell it, and wondered why it felt familiar?
or maybe it's that he's refusing us. because following his turn during reunion, there's almost a sense that he has tighter control of the camera now. he addresses his 'voices' nearly antagonistically, wishing we/they would go away, responding and talking to us/them in a way that feels harsher than how he's addressed chat in the past. he's frustrated with us/them: why are you still here, i thought i was done with you. he accuses us/them of only pretending to care, of lingering not so much out of concern or any desire to do something as out of some morbid curiosity. there's a degree of access to him that we seem to have lost. it's as if he's finally certain that there is an audience, and what he's willing to show us shifts.
there's something really lovely and horrifying about a lot of the more scripted sections of owen's pov after the reunion. how it shows us things only he knows (the knife in his hotbar for much of his dinner conversation with guts, the beat where he grabs his backpack and reaches for a weapon when it seems like ayngel is about to recognize him, the interaction with puddy in the second clearing when he visits with krow), but we are nevertheless shut out of his interiority as he starts talking less to others, starts favouring third-person camera shots and narration where he gets to step out of the moment and talk to us directly. you can even think about the 'scripted by owengejuicetv' segments after each kill as signalling this: he has such visible direct control of the story we get to know now. he is the one who gets to tell this story, who gets to move the pieces on the board. here's what happened, he says to us. this is how it went. this is what i do and who i am and here are the parts that mattered. do you ever think about how rasbi's ending wasn't streamed from her pov? do you ever think about how the only witnesses to rasbi's death were rasbi herself, and owen?
