Reborn!Wukong: Kidnapped.
Word Count: 3042.
Content/Trigger Warnings: mention of poisoning.
Authors Notes: This came out a lot longer than I thought it would. There is another kidnapped thingy, but this one is based on the reader story and the upcoming one is a requested headcanon featuring all the Wukongs I'm doing.
<---Previous | Start | Next--->
You were no weakling, but you weren't much of a fighter compared to the other two you were left with. While Pigsy protected the monk from the pack of wild beasts, you were accompanied by Wujing.
In your defence… It wasn't your fault. You just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up in something messy that Wukong definitely won't like… Let's just say he definitely won't be a happy camper.
“I'm scared…” Sweat dripped from your forehead at the thought of how mad Wukong would be when he returned to see you gone.
“You're scared?! What about me?!” Pigsy snapped.
You looked at Pigsy with a blank look and a raised brow. You didn't really care about what Wukong would do to Pigsy, since getting into a spat was an everyday thing with them. You shook your head and thought of ways to get out of the pit you were thrown into. No, you hadn't put yourself in any danger, it was more of an unexpected attack that got you hurt.
In the end, you and Pigsy were somehow captured and brought to the deity of the area. Some water deity you didn't care to remember the name of who had the demons that kidnapped you under his control.
Sacrifices? You thought to yourself. With my luck, probably worse. Ugh, Wukong's gonna throw a tantrum.
“Hey, big sis,” Pigsy's voice broke you out of your state.
“Quiet, pork chop! Who gave you permission to speak to the goddess?!” one of the guards poked him in the behind with their spear, which made him cry out.
“Goddess?” you and Pigsy questioned then looked at each other and back to the male.
Guess that explains why he's tied up, but I'm not… This is already so exhausting. You sighed to yourself. Yep, this is worse than a sacrifice…
“Brother Monkey is gonna kill me,”
“You're at fault, you slob, you seriously couldn't have handled this? You've fought armies by yourself!” you whisper yelled.
“I didn't see you do anything but running away and hiding!” he whisper-yelled back.
“I'm not a fighter! My entire life in the Celestial Realm was lived cooped up with archives and medicinal herbs. I'm the brains in this team and the rest if you are the brawn!”

Wukong sneezed three times in a row as he jumped off of his cloud. He shook his head and attempted to clear the ringing in his ears.
“Big brother,” Wujing’s voice got his attention.
“Where's (Y/n)?” he immediately questioned as he looked around for you.
He also noticed Pigsy's absence, but he was only focused on yours. He was relaxed and casual till he saw the look on Wujing's face. Seeing the demon squirm like that made Wukong uneasy, and he knew that his gut feeling telling him you were in danger was right.
“Um…” Wujing looked incredibly nervous as the Monkey King approached him with narrowed eyes.
“What.happened?” Wukong questioned in a growl.
“They were kidnapped, (Y/n) and Pigsy,”
“By who?” Wujing didn't like how calm Wukong was at the moment, it never ended well.
“Demons… We were ambushed and they were taken,”
“Which way did they go?”

“My great goddess,” a foreign voice boomed like thunder, the male's arms spread wide to present himself with extravagance.
The game of ‘Spot the Boss’ just keeps getting easier and easier… you mused to yourself, but managed to keep a straight face.
“My name is Bolin Aiguo,” the male’s voice brought you back to reality. “I welcome you to my palace.”
“Um… thanks?” you asked more than said.
“Destiny has truly blessed us today,” he grinned as he bowed slightly. “We have waited centuries for your return,” he said and motioned to the wall where a cloth was dropped.
“Heh?” you both looked at the painting on the wall and your jaw dropped.
Is this real? You thought as you saw the picture of a woman who looked like you, but wore garments of a divine goddess. Could it just be a coincidence? Maybe the unlikely chance that’s my ancestor?
“Whoa, that looks just like you,” Pigsy's marvel made you roll your eyes and sighed heavily.
“Your sense of perception is exquisite as always,” you said sarcastically as you looked at him. He returned your gaze with a glare, which got him hit in the back with a whip. You winced at the sound of leather on skin, it gave you goosebumps and chills, the bad kind.
“Don't you dare gaze at our goddess like that, you disgusting pig,” the guard that whipped him spat, literally, at the pig demon.
“Do not speak to him like that,” you said without thinking. You and Wukong were the only ones allowed to bad talk Pigsy to his face like that.
“Forgive me, my goddess (Y/n), your servant needed to be punished,” the male bowed.
They know my name? What in the ten worlds is going on? This is getting a bit scary now… Wait, did they call him my servant?
“Um…” you glanced around. “I address my servants directly, no one is allowed to speak to my underlings that way.”
“You are such a caring Goddess,” the men marvelled, then bowed. “Very well, if that is what you wish, then that is what will be.”
“Good,” your voice broke, but you didn't think they noticed.
“Goddess, I am General Hàoyú,”
“Hm,”
“I'm Mùchén, it's a pleasure to meet you,” the guard who struck Pigsy bowed.
“The pleasure’s mine,” you smiled as politely as you could.
“Please, allow the maids to show you to your room,” Bolin gestured to four maids who stood at the ready, “I've prepared proper clothing for you.”
Not good. Really wished this was a sacrifice situation right now…
“Unnecessary,”
“I insist,” he looked at you then bowed. “It would be my honour if you did.”
“I-” you cut yourself off when you saw Pigsy trying not to laugh, it irked you. “Please see that my servant be treated with respect and cleaned up as well,” you smiled, which made the pig demon stop laughing to himself and boy was he pale.
“Yes, of course, Goddess!”
“I'm gonna hurt you,” Pigsy seethed.
“Who's laughing now, porky?” you smirked as you walked past him.
The outfit they made you wear was one similar to what ‘you’ were wearing in the painting. It wasn't exactly your colour or style, yet it looked amazing on you, curves and all. The stylists that did your hair tried so hard to hide their disgust in doing your hair, obviously your hair that hadn't been washed in three or so weeks wasn't to their liking. Despite Wukong’s excessive grooming, nothing beats a good soak in scented oils and natural hair products. You coil get used to the godly treatment.
When you were reunited with Pigsy, he was amazed at your change, not really believing it was you at first. You, however, tried oh so hard not to laugh at the state of the pig demon. He looked prim, proper, and clean despite still looking like a servant. It was definitely an improvement to say the least… you cringed at the thought that he might actually look borderline adorable.
“Are your servant’s garments not to your liking, goddess?” Mùchén asked.
“They're fine, thank you,” you managed a smile. “If you don't mind, I'd like to speak to my servant alone.”
“Of course,” the guard bowed, and they all left.
“You clean up nice,” you snorted as you walked to look out your window.
“Shut up,”
“By gods, this place is locked up tight,” you pinched the bridge of your nose. “Escaping subtly is out of the question. You might be able to escape and get the others if you shape-shift, but seeing those wolf demons they have stationed along the border, I doubt you'd get far without being caught.”
“These clothes are so stuffy, how could people dress like this everyday?” Pigsy complained.
“Try wearing one of these, then you can complain,” you adjusted the cloth that was tied tightly and securely around your abdomen. “This dress thing is getting so annoying,”
“At least you get treated like a god, I'm just some servant!”
“It suits you,” you smirked and looked at Pigsy before you looked at your reflection in the mirror. “Ugh, I can't wait to get this stuff off my face, so itchy…”
“What do we do, big sis?”
“Bid our time,” you looked at Pigsy. “Wukong will find us soon, we just have to hold out till then.”
“But who knows when brother monkey will be back, you know he takes forever,”
“Believe me,” you stared off into space. “He already knows… he always does somehow.”
Before Pigsy could respond, someone walked into the room, you both mentally groaned when Bolin walked in.
What does this hard case want? You thought to yourself.
“You look even more extravagant than I thought you would…” he marvelled, you couldn't help but blush at such a compliment.
“Don't you know it’s impolite to barge into a lady’s room?” you raised a brow.
“Forgive me,” he chuckled and bowed, offering to take your hand. “I was simply hoping to invite you to have dinner with me.”
Making it seem like I have a choice, how polite. You thought to yourself with a soft sigh.
“I'd be honoured,” you forced a smile.
“The honour is mine,” he smiled at you, looking at you like he was hungry.
“Did I hear food? I'm starving!”
Are you ever not? You thought to yourself in annoyance.
“Not for you, you disgusting creature,” he glared at Pigsy like he was scum. You didn't notice this, but your hand twitched slightly. You simply cleared your throat to steal his attention, which wasn't hard to do. “Please follow me.”
“Happy too,” you forced a natural smile.
____________________________
“Just one bite,” Pigsy continued to drool over the large assortment of food and drink served to you.
“Leave me be,” you shot him a glance then focused on your fish.
“Dear Goddess, c'mon, don't hog all the food for yourself,” he begged.
Pig knows how to beg when his stomach is concerned, I'll give him that much. You thought to yourself.
“Ironic coming from a gluttonous pig,” you barely spared Pigsy another glance before you smiled a bit. “Why don't you be a good servant and perform for me since you're so hungry,” you tilted your head, “after all, a meal tastes so much better when you worked hard for it.”
“I couldn't have said it better myself,” Bolin smiled at you, a smile that gave you the bad kind of chills. He frowned and looked at Pigsy. “You heard the goddess, what are you waiting for?”
This is gonna be good… you tried to hide the smirk. Suddenly, a chill ran down your spine and the feeling of being watched returned. Wukong? You thought to yourself, but after a few seconds passed with no sign of chaos, you guessed you were wrong.
“Where is he already?” you sighed softly to yourself.
“What was that, your grace?” you looked at Bolin and sat straighter.
“Nothing!” you smiled nervously, hoping he didn't hear you.
Maybe it was a bit cruel on your part to make Pigsy dance for your entertainment… but you didn't care. The entire situation was his fault, well, partially. Perhaps it was due to the lack of challenging fights that the two got a bit sloppy, either way… watching Pigsy dance was utterly hilarious, and you wished Wukong was there to laugh with you.
“Are you enjoying yourself, my dearest goddess?” you glanced at Bolin and closed your eyes briefly before you focused on your food.
“It has been entertaining to say the least,” you managed a smile, “overall, you have been an excellent host.”
“I'm so happy to hear you say that, goddess,” he mused and lifted his glass a bit. “Shall our days be like this one.”
“Pardon?” you looked at him, almost choking on your fish.
“You are to be my wife,” he smiled at you. “It is as prophecy has written, your return merits the marriage to the head of the palace, which is me.”
“I don't know about that, I am not interested in marriage,” you responded.
Especially not with you. You thought to yourself as the maid refilled your cup.
“I can wait, it is no trouble. You are worth it after all,” he said as you focused on your drink.
“Hmmm… this drink is sweet, I really like it,” you looked at the red liquid in the chalice as you swirled it around.
“I'm glad you like it,” Bolin smiled.
“What is it? I've never tasted anything like it,” you looked up at him curiously.
Wukong isn't much of a sweet taste guy, I wonder if he’d like it… you found yourself drifting off to the thought of Wukong.
“Nothing special,” he looked at his drink as he swirled it around as well, taking his time before he answered, “just a love potion.”
The words put Pigsy in a panic, not knowing what Wukong would do if he saw his beloved (Y/n) under the influence of a love potion with some random water deity who thinks you a goddess.
Did I seriously just get drugged? Is that way the taste is sweeter than before? That cocky bastard, what is he planning? You thought to yourself in a slight daze, but it only lasted a second longer before you got your senses back.
“A love potion?” you snorted, which took them both aback. “Are you truly that desperate to have me for yourself?”
“W-Why aren't you affected?” He stood up and backed away. “What are you?”
“Oh, you poor sweetheart… Love potions are meant to make you fall in love with the first person you see…” You stood and fixed your sleeves a bit before you looked up at the male in amusement. “But don't you know it doesn't work on someone who's already in love.”
“Impossible!” he barked.
“I grow tired of this… we'll be leaving now,” you spoke, only glancing at Pigsy, who nodded and followed you.
“Big sis, is that true?”
“Yeah, crazy right?” you spoke. “I read it in this book that I found, but I didn't believe it till now.”
“You cannot! You are our goddess!” he yelled.
“I regret to inform you that I am no God,” you called over your shoulder.
“You are to be mine! It is destiny!” he yelled. You would've felt bad for the guy if he hadn't kidnapped and fed you a love potion, even if it tasted amazing.
“My love belongs to only one person… And you're not even half as good-looking as he is,” you folded your arms… The thought of Wukong started to make your insides feel warm and made you feel… weird. Especially when you thought of that smile/smirk you loved oh so much.
Is this what being drunk feels like? You thought to yourself before your focus was taken by the man child throwing a tantrum.
“I will slay this peasant!” he snapped.
“You can try,” you looked up and smiled at the glaring monkey on his cloud, “but I don't think he's in the mood to humour you.”
“Sun Wukong?!”
“Who gave you permission to say my name?!”
Both you and Pigsy winced as Wukong beat the guy sound and proper. Pigsy knew that he was gonna get beat to a pulp too once Wukong was finished with the audacious bastard.
“See?” you looked at Pigsy warily. “I told you he'd find us soon…”
“Uh huh…” it was quite obvious that Pigsy was scared as Wukong was quick in finishing the deity and his men. Typical man, all show, no go… you thought to yourself before looking at Wukong as he wiped some blood off of his face. This shouldn't be hot… but it really is.
“So unfair…” you mumbled to yourself.
“Pft-” he eyed you, now it was your turn to glare.
“Shut up,” you folded your arms and looked away, but he forced you to look at him.
“This look suits you well,” he leaned in and kissed you softly. “My beautiful goddess.”
“So you're not mad?” you peeked up at him.
“Furious,” he seethed, but caressed your cheek as he exhaled through his nose and smiled a bit, “but seeing you dressed like this… No man or demon could dare.”
“You sweet talker,” you managed a smile.
“I'm glad I'm the love of your life,” he winked with a smirk, which made you blush profusely.
“Exactly how long have you been watching?” you asked nervously.
“Since you made Pigsy dance like an idiot, it was kinda funny,” he mused.
So I guess I was right, Wukong was the one watching me.
“You were probably seething seeing that man hold me like that,” you smirked up at him.
“You know me well,” he nuzzled your cheek, “but today made me realize something.”
“Oh? And what would that be?”
“You're mine and that's how it should be,” he kissed your forehead. “You are mine, (Y/n). As I am yours.”
“Such a way with words…” You stroked the right side of his face. He leaned into your touch and closed his eyes. “True love can never be replaced or forgotten,” he looked at you. “When we collect the scrolls, and our quest is done… I wanna be immortal,” you cupped his cheek. “I want to be with you, the love of my life, for the rest of my existence and beyond that.”
“Sounds like a proposal,” he smiled a bit.
“It's the same thing,” you smiled.
“So be it,” He smirked before he leaned in and kissed you softly.
“Handsome…”
“Hm?” He looked at you as you rubbed your cheek against his chest. “You okay?”
“The love potion is taking effect,” you looked up with heart-shaped pupils. “My body feels hot…” You said as you got goosebumps.
“Not to ruin your couple moment, but we gotta get going!” You both pulled back and glared at the pig demon.
Damn it, Pigsy. Shut up for once. You both thought at the same time.

Yandere Monkey D. Luffy Headcanons (General)
''I can't be the King of Pirates without you by my side.'' — Monkey D. Luffy.
❝ 👒 — lady l: It's 4am and I decided to finish this because I was bored lol. Hope you like it! I'm sorry for any mistake and good reading! ❤️💛
❝tw: obsessive behavior, overprotection, mention of death and torture, unhealthy relationships.
❝👒pairing: yandere!monkey d. luffy x gender neutral!reader.
Monkey D. Luffy has a relaxed and even sloppy personality, in a way. He has a carefree air, who cares about few things in his life. He had a goal, a dream, in mind and he would do anything to achieve it. But that dream became irrelevant after he met you.
He insisted a lot on you joining his crew, literally chasing you, harassing you, until you agreed to become a pirate. Luffy jumped for joy when that happened, because it meant you responded to him, as your Captain.
Luffy doesn't like to give you orders and he will rarely do so, unless it is unavoidable, in which case he will try to be as subtle as possible, as if he wasn't ordering you to do something. He is the Straw Hat Captain, but he is not your captain, not in a personal way at least. Furthermore, he wants you to find One Piece together with him.
He is very optimistic and tends to be very kind, trying to see the good in people, but he is a hypocrite when it comes to you. Even if you were the cruelest person in the world, Luffy would defend you tooth and nail. He's not very fair when it comes to you and anything ''wrong'' you do will be ignored by him, maybe even applauded.
People tend to think he's dumb or at least stupid, but that's not true. He may not be good at things that require greater thinking, but Luffy is anything but stupid. He is quite intelligent in his own way and it shows in the way he acts towards you. His intelligence is characterized by his emotional ability, he is very good at reading you and knowing your needs.
Luffy values you more than the rest of his crew. He loves all his friends, but he loves you the most. He would never say it out loud, but he would sacrifice everyone, send them to their deaths, if you so wish. He wants to make you happy and if the death of those who are important to him is the path to that happiness, so be it.
He is not possessive or jealous because Luffy knows he is your favorite. He doesn't mind other people being around you, but he has his limit. If Luffy thinks, even a little, that he is being replaced in your life, he won't accept it. Not without a fight. He's no stranger to bloodshed or killing, so he'll have no problem doing so.
On the other hand, Luffy is extremely overprotective and clingy, to a frightening degree. He dragged you into this life, but he doesn't want you to be an active participant. The idea, the thought, of you getting hurt sends you into a frenzy of anger and worry. He will kill, cut and even torture the person who hurt you and will only be satisfied when he has finished with the person.
Luffy is quite controlling and curious, he wants to know everything about you and he will find out. He doesn't want any secrets to be kept from him and he may feel betrayed if you try to keep something from him. Did he not give you enough confidence? Don't you know he's the only one you can really trust? Luffy will have to do something about your inappropriate behavior.
He likes to spend as much time as he can by your side, take everything he can and stay close to you as much as possible. His favorite moments together are when you are eating or sitting on the bow of the Going Merry. Luffy is very greedy for food and for you, if there are two things he cares about most and values above all else, it's you and food, in that order.
It's not easy to irritate him, but he gets irritated very easily when you're involved. If someone says something bad about you, feel sorry for that person because they won't end well. Luffy would never go so far as to kill over an insult, but he will get upset and he can be a pain in the ass when he is upset about something.
Luffy often behaves like a child, he tends to go to extremes very easily. He goes from 80 to 180 very quickly, his infectious joy turns to fury very quickly when it comes to you. He loves to entertain you with his rubber body, letting you play or making funny faces. He loves to hear you laugh and will do anything to see you laugh.
He hates seeing you cry, hates seeing your beautiful face wet with tears, your lips pursed as you cry. If Hell exists, then for Luffy it's seeing you cry. He will become furious and demand to know the cause of your sadness and once he finds out, he will deal quickly, often bloodily. If it is one of the Mugiwara, however, he will just be more rigid and will not hurt them.
Luffy is selfless, he is willing to sacrifice himself for you, to save you. He is delusional to a fault, willing to kill anyone who crosses you, including his own friends. Whatever past hurt you may, if he has your approval, Luffy will get revenge for you. No one can hurt you, no one can make you cry. He may not be the most dangerous to you, but to others around him, Luffy will have no qualms.

Sparks and Showers Part 1
//My first attempt at writing for @tunadunanana ‘s OC, the Phoenix Maiden, affectionately named Birdie. Tuna, this story turned out so much longer than I was expecting and planning, I really hope I did your Birdie correctly because this is a lot of writing for her to be completely out of character 🤣🤣 if she is I do apologize.
This is a SFW story, no warnings, not proofread to do forgive any spelling errors; MOD//
Summary;
The Journey has been complete, Battles won, and Memories restored. Birdie and the Newly Awaken & Reincarnated Sun Wukong are making their way back to their home mountain of flowers and fruit. But when they stop to rest, the creatures of the forest make it hard to relax.
——————————————————
🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜
——————————————————
Time can be a beautiful thing when it runs in your favor. And it can be painful when it is against you.
That was a world defining truth that Birdie had come to know incredibly intimately.
Matters of the heart usually fought with Time you see, clashing in the worst of ways. Days seem to stretch for far too long with the Heart was grieving, and when the heart was at its happiest time flew faster than any falcon.
During the final battle the Destined One had had with the stone shell of the king who had once unknowingly held her heart, Birdie wished time could fly faster, to get past this awful moment.
The irony wasn’t lost upon the Phoenix Maiden that not even hours earlier, when they were bantering back and forth, she had wished time could slow… just a bit. The maiden setting aside her pain at seeing her dear friend in the face of this stranger who had become her friend as well,
But there were also occasions when time seemed to slow in the good moments as well.
After that previously mentioned battle for example; When the dust had settled, when that radiant light that was oh so familiar faded, when the elderly monkey that held that awful awful headband took a step back, when she saw her friend’s own head still free of that golden chain….
When he stood up…
When he turned to look at her when she took a hesitant step forward… and recognition flashed.
“Birdie?” His eyes widened and he smiled.
Birdie felt her breath catch in her lungs as - for the first time in hundreds of years - she allowed herself to hope…
Because that smile - oh that smile - that was His…
Time slowed as she took a few steps closer. The wings of hope spreading ever wider in her chest. The pair took each other in.
“Wukong?” Her voice, usually so melodic and sweet, cracked under the force of the emotions that were cascading through her. Part of her was scared to make a noise, to break this fragile moment in fear that it was just some cruel illusion, another dirty trick from the gods.
This Wukong, who carried himself the same, still standing in that familiar way that favored the hip opposite of his Staff… the familiar way his tail barely moved as he was taking something in… it was all Him… but there was a look in his eye that was a bit… unfamiliar… Older, wiser? Only that capricious Time would be able to tell….
But, this Wukong took a slow step forward, Helping the Phoenix Maiden close the distance just a bit more… and let out a soft Hooting Chirp, a curious sound… a question?
It was such a little sound…
But it caused the Phoenix Maiden to drop her Bow, Arrows and her Bag into the water uncaringly as her brought her hands to her mouth to cover the Sobs that shook her body. Every dam within her breaking as emotions surged forward, overtaking her in an overwhelming force.
He was back! It was Him! He was Back!
She ran to close that distance as he reached forward to receive her. And they shared an embrace so tight that no force on heaven or earth could’ve separated them in that moment.
They clung to each other desperately, afraid to let the other go in fear that this was all a perfect dream.
But Wukong was the first to feel relief course through him as he felt her tears soaking his fur on the side of neck… because never, not even in his unconscious and hibernative state, had he ever imagined her crying in such a way. And he knew this was real.
He held her tighter to him, wrapping his arms around her in a force that tried to shield her from everything, to keep her secure even as she fell apart.
As for the Phoenix Maiden,
The sweet woman with such joyful colors that mocked her ever mourning being, the woman who wore loyalty on her skin and her heart on her sleeve even as the world around her crumbled, the woman who began this journey to give herself closure and possibly make peace knowing her dearest friend had gone before she could tell him how she felt and the feelings she held - Because why rush to spill your heart when you were supposed to have eternity?
For the first time in Hundreds of years… the Tears she were shedding, the sobs that were making her tremble…
They weren’t of grief.
—————————————————
🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜
—————————————————
The next couple days were a joyful blur for the Phoenix Maiden, reconnecting with her dear monkey, speaking the words in her heart that she never had a chance to say before. The absolute joy at hearing him accept her feelings and validate them by matching them with his own.
There were many talks of expectations, of what they desired from one another, the fears they carried, the love they had, the future they wanted… but alas those stories cannot be told here, for they were private and for each others ears only.
And of course, not all moments were good. You see, the trauma they had gone through didn’t magically disappear with the presence of the other.
Poor Birdie was reminded of this first hand when she had a nightmare of her world being over again. Dreamed of blood on her hands, desperately reaching for a body that was always just out of reach. No one responding as she screamed for help.
When Wukong had finally able to shake her awake from that unconscious horror, she had clung to him for hours, her cheek against his chest, her ears focused on the steady beating of his heart. The pair holding each other until her trembles faded and a dreamless sleep swept her up once more.
Sun Wukong wasn’t spared either. (Though one could argue seeing his dear friend be tormented so was torture enough.)
No, the immortal monkey king too had bad dreams, though his weren’t always at night. As he settled into this new body and the memories it held before he returned, the Great Sage now found himself plagued with visions and hallucinations as past and future clashed in his mind.
Both the present body and his past mind struggling to find their equilibrium, his Yin and Yang out of balance.
Visions of being defeated, his body being torn apart, Phantom Pains leaving him resting his head in the Phoenix Maiden’s lap as she attempted to sing away the pain that had long since passed, past battles with modern foes, voices on the wind that mimicked his people but were wrong, illusions of a weapon or claw about to strike his side before fading before the hit could land. He would turn and snarl at the sound of an enemy to find it was only empty air.
He had forced himself back into his meditations and his more Buddhist mindset in an attempt to force the Equilibrium to settle when he went to go attack an enemy only for that enemy to turn into his precious Birdie before his Cudgel had a chance to land its hit.
That moment had been a reality check for both of them. Wukong may be back… but he was still very much not at his 100 just yet…
It helped that Birdie was so supportive of him, gently taking his hands when he flinched away from her, telling him in that melodic voice of hers that, They just needed to take it slow, these things take time. Besides, they finally had forever. Wounds would heal, the nightmares would fade.
It was that night that they decided to start making their journey back to Mount Huaguo, that beautiful Paradise of Flowers and Fruit. “After all!” Sun Wukong had spoken, his fur puffed in joy and anticipation. “What better place to heal the mind than my paradise on earth! Besides, I believe their handsome king has been absent for long enough.”
He felt himself puff up more with pride when his words brought a smile to his Birdie’s lips.
—————————————————
🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜🐒🦜
—————————————————
This is how we find ourselves where we currently are at within the story my dear readers.
As both Sun Wukong and the Phoenix Maiden are beings capable of flight, the pair crossed an impressive distance of land in a relatively short amount of time. Neither had any doubt that if Birdie had clung to Wukong on his jīndǒu yún cloud, (筋斗云) they could make it back to Mount Huaguo in a day, if not a handful of hours.
However they both came to an agreement that with it being as long as it had been, it’d be wise to move at a more leisurely pace - even if from the air - so that Wukong could familiarize himself with how the land had changed. At the pace they were going, the trip would take 3 days and 2 nights back to their beloved mountain.
Everything went smooth the first day and night. The second day say they were forced to slow because of winds that were blowing against them. Birdie beating her wings twice as hard to move forward against the breeze. Wukong stayed a bit behind her to catch if it was needed.
But Birdie took it with good humor, giggling that that flight had been the best workout she’s had in years!
That brings us to where we are tonight:
“It is good that we arrive back at the Mountain tomorrow,” Birdie hummed as she opened her bag and took out two generously sized Mangos and a bag of tree nuts from a cashe Zhu Baije had gifted to them before they departed. “This is the last of it, we may need to forage for lunch tomorrow…”
Sun Wukong nodded as he grabbed the mango and stoking the fire they sat by to warm themselves and their clothes before they went to rest in the trees for the night.. “Hmm… unless we want to agree that taking it at a leisure pace was a silly notion and we just use my jīndǒu yún to cross that meager distance before our bellies have a chance to complain?”
“Sun Wukong!” Birdie gasped, a playful gleam in her eyes, “Am I to hear that the Great Sage Equal to Heaven can’t handle roughing it any longer? What does the Handsome Monkey King miss his pillows?”
“Blasphemous! You dare to insinuate that This great King can’t handle a bit of dirt?! Better to wish to avoid dirt than be dragged back to the earth like a waterlogged pigeon because of some wind!” Sun Wukong leaned forward as he accepted her invitation to play, a relief warming his chest to have confirmation once again that the years didn’t take this game of theirs away.
“Even Pigeons can keep themselves pristine and well groomed! How many pebbles and rock clumps have I had to untangle from your fur since your return you wretched Stone Monkey! Perhaps we should go ahead so the denizens of the mountain can run you a bath and line up to groom you properly!” She narrowed her eyes with a grin, but also carefully watching for his reaction, remembering how important troop grooming sessions were for his kind.
But there was no insult in his eyes, only mirth as he matched her grin. “Brave woman! Brave indeed! You voice so easily on my stone nature but tease me for wanting to stay away from the floor in which entangles those clumps in my fur! Dare I say you are contradicting yourself?”
The Phoenix Maiden leans in close and settles herself against him in a motion Sun Wukong doesn’t trust one bit, not while they’re within the game, but he enjoys her proximity too much to push her away. That’s before Birdie leans her head against his shoulder and innocently entangles her fingers in his fur at the base of his neck, taking care not to snag the fur.
“Oh Wukong…. Should I gather some soft moss for you to rest your royal head? I’d hate for you to crimp your neck at your impressive age.” From where she sits, Wukong can’t see her face, but he doesn’t have see it to know she’s holding in laughter from the way her shoulder shook, to how her tone is pitched.
Wukong made an aghast sound from his chest as he playfully grabbed the woman beside him making her finally release her laughter as she squealed and attempted to get away from his tickling hands.
The Phoenix Maiden didn’t realize until too late Wukong’s dastardly plan as he took them to the forest floor as they tumbled around each other in their game.
That was, until Birdie’s hand brushed against something in her hair….
Was that… a twig? Leaves?
Realization dawned as she shoved a Cackling Wukong away to take stock of her appearance.
“Oh you didn’t! WUKONG!” She was covered in Leaves, Twigs, Dirt… and those Rock Clumps. She looked a right mess, and thoroughly tumbled.
The smug Monkey King laughed even harder, the force of it making him loose his footing and nearly causing him to fall into the fire. “Don’t worry! Don’t worry! I’m sure once we get back to the mountain, the denizens will run you a bath and line up to groom you!”
He laughed harder as he threw her words back at her.
She succeeded in untangling a stick from her hair and proceeded to throw it at the furry Stone Menace, causing him to wheeze as he gripped his sides.
Birdie attempted to pretend to be stern before she fell into laughter as well. What could she do? Sun Wukong’s joy had always been infectious.
——————
The joy and mirth of the moment came to an abrupt end when Wukong froze and was suddenly on his feet, staring unblinkingly into the forest, his stance tense.
“Do you hear that my Birdie?” His voice was softer now, barely above a whisper.
Birdie felt her heart sink in her chest a bit as she slowly got to her feet and took a step back, running on the assumption it was another invisible enemy that often plagued his mind, and readying herself to jump into the trees should a one-sided battle commence.
“Wukong, I don’t-“ the snap of a branch cut her off as she froze as well, turning her head to look in the direction the sound came from… and it was only then she realized how silent the woods had become. “Yes. Yes I heard that.”
She grabbed her bow and notched an arrow, flexing her wings to become airborne at the first sense of true danger.
More rustling and the sounds of large trunks snapping made them both tense further in readiness for whatever they were about to face.
Just when the Stone Monkey was about to activate his gold vision, a blast of fire and molten rock shot at him as a horrible screech shot through the trees. Officially breaking the otherwise eerie silence. He only barely moved out of the way in time, the smell of singed fur quickly filling the air.
Birdie yelped as the molten rock landed next to her foot as she jumped into the air with a single beat of her wings and took a shot in the direction of where the attack had come from.
Another awful screech rang out, letting Birdie know her blind shot had landed.
There was a burst of movement as the awful beast finally revealed itself. A giant Róngyán xīyì (熔岩蜥蜴) ((Lava Lizard)) at least 16 heads long burst forward. It’s wide mouth open, attempting to swallow one or both of the travelers but missing them both.
Its movements were heavy, clumsy and uncoordinated. Its large and burning eyes nictated as it moved its head around looking for where its prey had gone. It’s fat Tail lashing and trying to rid itself of the arrow sticking out of it. Rumbling with dissatisfaction.
Both Wukong - from his place hiding in the brush, and Birdie - from her spot in the trees stayed quiet, hoping the beast would move on. The Lizard was larger than the xīyì usually came. They were supposed to grow no larger than a forearm.
And they usually stuck to the Volcanes of the North. It was a long way from home and clearly was a successful hunter if its size was anything to go by. Though, despite its size, it clearly wasn’t a wise creature, clearly it wasn’t capable of speech or hadn’t any power to achieve transformations. It was simply another predator like a tiger or an alligator.
The xīyì curled its head back as it curled its tail up, almost making itself into a ball before its blackened charcoaled scales began to rattle and steam and the pink of its belly glow before its golden throat and cheeks bulged. And it just so happened to be in the direction Wukong was hiding.
“WUKONG! GO HIGH!” Birdie shouted as she took another shot. It found its home in the xīyì’s Shoulder as the creature screeched once more. Spewing a torrent of fire and molten rock out of its gullet. The spray going a considerable distance as Wukong shot upwards with his cudgel to avoid the attack
The xīyì twisted its body around rapidly as it continued to empty its gullet. The area quickly becoming encased in flame as the thick slag stuck to the tree and ignited them.
The Phoenix maiden felt her eyes begin to burn and her throat itch as smoke blew in her face. She began to cough as she beat her wings to move the smoke away and push herself higher into the air.
Wukong snarled and bared his teeth. “Bothersome Beast! I shall make your hide into an armored Tunic! Watch as I end this!”
Twisting around, he brought up his cudgel and flipped it so it was above him, using his strength to bring it down with a force that cracked the earth. Flattening the creatures head, the Róngyán xīyì’s body going still.
He landed on the ground next to it, and kicked it in irritation. “A good armored Tunic indeed! I should’ve left your eyes! Gave you a last look at the mess you caused!”
“Wukong,” Birdie raised an eyebrow at him. “I don’t think that poor creature is hearing you anymore.” She then looks around as anxiety starts to build within her chest. “This forest is going to burn, what do we do?”
Indeed the fire was spreading fast. The dryness of the wood combined with the strong winds working in tandem to turn the steady blaze into a raging inferno.
“Bah!” Wukong shrugged away her worries as he finished skinning the beast and folding away the pelt carefully to be turned into its tunic later. “We can fly above it Birdie. It won’t harm us.”
Birdie scowled. “Wukong, the denizens of the forest can’t all fly. We can’t just leave them to burn.” She points at a bird nest in the distance with three far-too-young chicks to prove her point.
Wukong thinks for a bit. “Very well, grab the nest with the babes, we will take them with-“
“Wukong!”
“Fine! I’ll go have the dragons send a-ACK!” He flinched and turned his head down as a raindrop found its place in his eye. A few more raindrops fell against Birdie’s cheeks and Wukong’s head before the rain steadily became heavier and heavier.
The rain felt warm, and to Birdie, incredibly familiar as the sweet smell of fresh water, ozone and flowers filled the area.
Raising a hand to protect her eyes she looked up at the rain cloud that had snuck up on them and saw the vague outlined shape of a woman in the clouds, her hair fading and falling as the rain that was now smothering the flames.
Birdie feels herself start to smile and her emotions rise into her throat as she’s almost sure that the woman - Her dear sister who had stood by her through everything - looks at her with a reassuring smile before her head turns away, her body sways, and she fades into a cloud once more… vanishing with the gentle sound of a distant rolling thunder.
“Wukong… did you see her?” Her voice soft and gentle. Still shielding her eyes as she looked up at the clouds to see if She was still up there, but she was gone. Moved on, giving her sister the privacy she had promised her so long ago when Birdie had first left for this journey.
Wukong was rubbing his eye from the liquid smack he had undeservingly received, and gave his body a good shake to rid himself of water that was soaking him. Taking one of his hairs, transforming it into a large umbrella, he grabbed Birdie and dragged her closer to him to join him in his jīndǒu yúnas to relieve her wings the stress of flying in the rain.
He shook his head as he felt her settle next to him. “No… I didn’t see her. Who? The Pearl Girl?”
Birdie rolled her eyes and gave his chest a weak smack even as she got closer to warm herself with his heat. “Wukong be respectful, she’s our sworn sister. She has been truly a support for me these past couple hundred years.”
Wukong grumbled but adjusted his body to hold her. “I don’t know how she has still fooled heaven into thinking she’s some peaceful ‘Tranquil Lady’. She’s peacefully shoved water up my nose and in my ear for a innocent prank more times than I care to remember!”
Birdie laughs as his words bring up multiple memories of the various ways Wukong would try to elicit some emotional reaction out of her otherwise non-reactive friend when they were still on their great journey to retrieve the Tripitaka Scriptures. And only succeeded in getting a physical response instead.
The phantom sounds of him cussing and sputtering and hacking while Zhu Baije laughed filled her ears. The Yín zhēnzhū gōngzhǔ’s only emotional reaction would be the slightest of a glare and eyebrow twitch before she went back to drinking her tea and the conversation she usually had with Birdie or Sha Wujing on the occasions she was summoned to assist the pilgrims.
Birdie leaned her cheek against his shoulder. “You usually deserved it, you were awful. Constantly poking and prodding at her when she had taken to time to come and help us.”
Wukong huffed out a laugh. “She always had this calm demeanor even when she was angry or irritated underneath. I was simply helping her express her emotions.” He remembered the one time he had seen her punish and execute the Bā tuófēng yěmán rén, that sort of calm rage wasn’t healthy for anyone. Especially not for a woman with the power to inadvertently make it everyone else’s problem.
Yes, Wukong thought to himself. He was justified in his needling and pranks towards the princess. Because he knew he’d been awful and annoying. Usually ever on his worst behavior when that pearl maiden was around, going just far enough to not have his master punish him with that blasted headband.
Because it allowed her to release those emotions she usually kept so bottled up, giving them an outlet that wasn’t a violent storm or a deadly riptide.
Truly, he deserved more appreciation. The great and handsome monkey king didn’t have to go out of his way, but he did for the sake of his friends.
Birdie laughed at his pouting face as she gave him a kiss on the cheek to sooth him. “Well you could’ve told her that rather than being so… You about the whole thing.”
Wukong pouted then chuckled in agreement. Indeed he had been awful. But it was fun. He began to have his jīndǒu yúnas take them out of the storm’s path and to a dryer area to listen to the rain from a distance and get some rest before they finished their journey at sunrise.
The Phoenix Maiden sighed as she watched the rain and distant thunder. It had grown to become her favorite sound when she was at the sea side palace. “It will be good to get back… I miss her. We have so many stories we have to share with our sister.”
It was a murmured statement, perhaps not something she realized she spoke aloud. But Wukong heard her all the same. She looked up at him and said in a more clear voice. “When we get back we need to come up with a ‘thank you’ gift for her. She made sure the mountain stayed protected and the damage was healed, along with keeping your citizens safe after… you…” her voice trails off and her face falls a bit before she hugs Wukong again.
“Never do that again…” It was an order.
“It’s okay Birdie… I don’t plan to go anywhere. I’m back for good this time.” He promised as he held her closer.
They stayed like that until the last of the distant glows of the fire went out, the forest safe and protected once more.
Wukong thinking all the while.
He had been gone for a while, and his Birdie - Because she was his now, she had given her heart to him and he had no intentions of returning it - had clearly become attached to their sworn sister, that infuriating pearl maiden. And now he learns she had also kept his home and people safe in his absence?
He nodded, pleased. His sworn younger sister was infuriating, but he would never say she wasn’t driven and loyal. He would think of a reward for her. And Birdie wanted to see her…
Then a thought struck him as he jumped up with the startled Phoenix Maiden in his arms. The poor woman letting out a yelp at sudden movement.
“An Idea! I’ve been struck with a great idea!” Wukong hooted as he jumped down onto a tree and carefully sat Birdie down, wrapping the fresh pelt around her shoulders to keep her warm. “Make up a camp! I shall be back soon!” Transforming a couple of his furs to make them into camping supplies, replacing what they had lost to the flames.
“Wha-Wukong!? Where are you going!?” Birdie sputtered as she fumbled with the objects that were shoved in her arms.
“A surprise Birdie! I go to grab a surprise!” Wukong beamed down at her before speeding off. Going to greet his infuriating Sworn Sister of the waters.
When we next meet, we shall see how that interaction goes.

The council couldn't have chosen anyone else? Why'd you have to get dragged in with the monk to get whatever it was he was sent for? No, no, better question, COULDN'T THEY HAVE TOLD YOU THAT BEFORE HE LEFT?! Now you were on a journey alone to try to catch up with the monk that had four days ahead of you, so that was proving… tiresome.
“How far can a monk get in just four days?” you grumbled to yourself as you tucked some of your (h/c) hair behind your ear to get it out of your face.
You'd spent two days trying to catch up to the monk, but it was proving to be a tedious task. Of course, you weren't going to give up, the higher-ups would tear you a new one if you gave up on the mission they ‘blessed’ you with. So, you marched on, asked around and tried to keep your head up.
You tried to think of the bright sides… Well, the only one you could really think of was finally getting out of that temple and away from those people. The fresh air was nice, but the endless walking wasn't what you were expecting when you were told you had a mission.
“Wait, is that them?” you thought to yourself aloud when you saw a group up ahead. You didn't know who the monk was supposed to be accompanied by, but you’d recognize him anywhere.
Finally! You thought to yourself as you willed your body into a jog, holding your chest as you did so it didn't bounce too much.
“Wait!” you tried to get their attention, which worked faster than you thought it would. When you finally caught up to them, you were breathing heavily and barely able to catch your breath. You were met with a stick in your face.
“Who are you?” who you recognized as the Monkey King questioned in a growl.
“Lady (Y/n)?” the monk surprisingly recognized you, making the monkey stand down. Once they’d settled, you introduced yourself to the four demons the monk had travelling with him.
Why does he need me if he has the four of them? You thought to yourself in annoyance.
“(Y/n) (L/n), I was sent to accompany you on your journey to the West to collect the Buddhist scriptures,”
“Forget it,” Wukong said almost immediately.
“Excuse me?” you looked at the demon who spoke as he eyed you as well with a raised brow.
“I said no,” he said.
“I wasn't asking your permission,” you stated.
“Wukong,” the monk chastised. “Forgive him, lady (Y/n),” the monk bowed in respect.
“It’s just (Y/n),” you told him. “I was sent to join you in your journey to the West, and that is what I plan to do,”
“Forget it,” ‘Wukong’ repeated sternly.
“Wukong,”
“I wasn't asking your permission,” you repeated as well.
“You can go back to whatever temple you came from. We already have two weights, we don't need another,”
“Did you just call me fat to my face?” you raised a brow. His eyes widened slightly, and he snarled in your face, his breath smelling of fruit.
“You know that's not what I meant!” he snapped.
“Hm,” you folded your arms and closed your eyes as you let out a heavy and defeated sigh. This could only be handled one way. “Since I'm such a heavy burden for you to bear, I’ll go,” you said simply and turned on your heel before starting to walk off.
“Wukong,” Tang said in a warning tone.
“Master, we don't need anyone else travelling with us,” he tried to persuade his master against letting you join.
“She has already come all this way on direct orders. She will be joining us, go apologize to her at once,” Tang ordered, making him groan, but follow behind you.
“Hey, sh- girl,” he called as he walked beside you.
“Come to call me short as well?” you glanced at him. He glared at you, mostly because he was going to call you shorty instead of girl. “You wanted something?” you raised a brow as you eyed the… fairly attractive specimen before you.
“I'm…” he physically struggled to speak.
“You're…?” you encouraged him to continue, wanting to hear him say it.
“Sorry…” he said, very strained and soft.
“Pardon?” you tilted your head a bit. It's not that you didn't hear him, you heard him loud and clear… you just wanted to make him suffer for indirectly calling you short and fat. You didn't deserve to be called out like that by someone like him.
“I said I'm sorry, alright?!” he snapped, which surprised you.
“Kay,” you rubbed your chin and bottom lip to feel you were smirking. “I was taught that any man willing to put aside his pride to apologize deserves forgiveness, so your apology is accepted,”
“Now that we’re past that, let’s go,”
“Oh?” that smirk still playing on your lips that irked him.
“Your masters told you to join us, didn't they? Let's.go.” he seethed, much to your amusement.
I like this one… you thought to yourself in amusement.
“Right,” you nodded and simply followed behind him. “What was your name again?” you questioned from behind him, trying to remember what the monk had called him.
“Sun Wukong,” he said through gritted teeth.
“Right, right. The so-called Monkey and Demon King, the ‘Great Sage Equal to Heaven’. Your mess with the Jade Emperor was a cleaning job for lesser deities like me, so thanks for that.”
“Any time,” it was his turn to smirk at you, which of course irked you.
“What possessed you to do such a thing anyway?” you questioned as you walked beside him, but the only response you got was a huff.
“There they are,” you looked ahead to see the other three approaching.
“Please forgive my-”
“It’s alright,” you cut him off as you traced your bottom lip slightly. “We have a long journey, let’s get moving.”
“Yes, of course,” the monk agreed with an amused smile.
The other three demons had introduced themselves to you. The pig, Zhu Bajie or ‘Pigsy’, was ‘trying his hand’ with you, much to your disgust. Luckily, Wukong pulled him away from you by his ear and said that you weren't interested, which you definitely weren't, but you thought speaking your mind might be a bit hurtful.
All in all… this trip was already shaping up to be a trip to remember. For better or worse? Well, that was still a work in progress.

Hiii, can you please write a part 2/continuation of the platonic Yan monkiefam? It was really good 🩷🥰
Monkiefam: Part Two
Smothering Simians
(Part Zero) (Part One) (Part Two) (Part Three)
(Fun fact! The Flower Fruit Mountain monkeys are very likely Rhesus Macaques!)
It’s not that you dislike MK. He’s a good kid, really. He’s a little immature, and still unsure of himself, true. He’s a bit high energy and a little too desperate to prove himself, to prove that he’s good enough…
But he’s a good kid. Really.
He seems to switch between playing older and younger brother on a dime, happy to wear either mask as long as he gets to spend time with you.
One day he’ll be dragging you along to show you all his new drawings and staring at you with puppy-dog eyes as he hopes for some kind of praise or approval. Another, he’s rubbing your back to comfort you while you cry over not being allowed to leave Flower Fruit Mountain. Then he’ll wake up early the next day to bring back some comfort food for the two of you to share. And afterwards it’ll be right back to him showing a new skill he’s learned, eyes sparkling as you politely clap and praise him for his dedication.
He’s easy to be around, most of the time. At the very least, he brightens up whichever room he happens to be in at the time. Even though his endless energy can be a little grating, you have to admit- having him around usually makes things a little bit easier to handle. He helps.
Usually.
But right now?
This is miserable. And he’s certainly not helping you one bit.
You sit on Wukong’s lap as he ties a red ribbon around your neck, cooing all the while. Since you hadn’t figured out how to turn yourself back yet, your ‘father’ and ‘brother’ had decided that they’d need a way to tell you apart from all the other monkeys on Flower Fruit Mountain. The monkey demon ties the ends of the silky strip of fabric into a bow, and then flips you around to add a ribbon to your tail, as well.
All the while, MK watches with delighted eyes, drawing out the scene in his sketchbook.
It had been a surprise to both of them, seeing you transformed into a monkey, having learned the technique only by watching them practice and overhearing a couple of their conversations. Of course, learning to transform doesn’t necessarily mean learning to turn back, so here you were, stuck in the form of a little mountain monkey, absolutely dwarfed by your companions. A characteristic that Sun Wukong was delightedly taking advantage of.
“Hey, can I hold them?”
Wukong chuckles, and holds you out to MK. You get the feeling that he’s used to handling all the little monkeys around the mountain. He holds you gently, taking mind of your prehensile tail and your wiry limbs.
MK does not.
He snatches you against himself, rubbing his face into your fur as he laughs with delight. “Aww! You’re so, so soft! I didn’t even know monkeys could be this soft! No offense, Monkey King! I mean, you’re kinda soft, but not soft soft, you know?”
He turns to Wukong, gauging the demon’s face to ensure that he hadn’t accidentally offended his mentor. He receives a casual thumbs up in response.
With that reassurance, he’s right back to doting on your new form. He toys with your tiny fingers and brushes the velvety fur of your tail, grinning as he does. He begins to squish your face between his hands, watching your simian face contort in his grasp as he moves your cheeks around. He only pauses to ask another question.
“Hey, how long do you think it’ll take for them to learn to change back?”
The whole world freezes. Depending on Wukong’s answer, this whole situation could go from uncomfortable to hellish. But at least you’d have some sort of frame of time, a general indicator of when things would go back to semi-normal.
“Hmm… I dunno! I’ve never met someone who got themselves stuck like this!”
Great.

Wouldn't it be cool if he had a follow-up performance in the City of Lanterns? Maybe they did go through with the talent show and, just to increase the chances of winning, they split into two different teams. The monkey family do theatre and Noodle Gang do the concert. It's after the fact that they realize it's a fake Ring!
I imagine that Wukong's stage fright is still a huge factor, but with Macaque there, he can manage it better. It's easy for Wukong to forget he's being watched by thousands of people when he has his mate and cubs there and it actually helps the two reaffirm their love
prev.
Oh thats so tasty!!
The gang agrees that submitting as two separate acts gives them a better chance of winning. Pigsy and the rest of the Noodle Gang will do a musical performance, while the monkeys perform "The Hero and the Warrior".
Wukong tries his best to calm down, only to peek around the curtains and sees the sheer crowd.
This Monkey King's stage fright is activated hard.
Macaque takes Wukong's hand into his and suggests;
Macaque: "Look, Me and MK can tell this story with our eyes closed. The twins (ours and Vixen's) are helping with the props. All we need to do is be the silent actors." Wukong: "You know I can't be infront of an auidence like that!" Macaque: "Then don't look at the audience. You just need to look at me." Wukong: (*unconvinced nervous grumble*) Macaque, thinking: "Remember the first night we danced together during the Journey?" Wukong: "You mean when we met Tieshan and Bull at the Flaming Mountains? Of course I do... I was still mad at you for leaving me." Macaque, reminiscing: "The music playing. The campfire roaring. And you looked so beautiful, I just had to ask you; Can I please have this dance?" (*does the bowing motion*) Wukong, blushing lightly: "I said yes mostly because Bajie was teasing me about "attracting bad boys"... it was the first time I had danced in a long time." Macaque: "I know. You stood on my foot so hard it broke a few toes." Wukong, chuckling: "Where are you going with all this?" Macaque, presses forehead to Wukong's: "When MK is up there telling our story - I want you and I to dance. Think of that night on the Flaming Mountains and keep your eyes on only us. When the Little Heaven appears, Yuebei will be in our arms and we'll act a little clumsy at first." Wukong, realising: "Xiaotian's naming ceremony! We tried dancing the same way, but he was clinging so tight we had to find a way to include him!" Macaque: "Yup." Wukong: "You remember so much of it all..." Macaque: "How couldn't I? It's our story. I could tell it a million times and never be bored." Wukong & Macaque: (*sappy married couple kissing noises*) MK: "Mom? Dad? We actually need to go on, remember? Annnd they aren't listening to me. I'll just send the others on first then." Rumble & Savage: (*covering each others eyes and giggling*)
When the actual "The Hero & the Warrior" begins, MK is taking centre stage as the narrator. Rumble, Savage, Luzhen, and Jin and Yin (+Bo the accountant) are in charge of changing the props and moving the shadows around. Wukong and Macaque are dancing as almost pure-dark silhouettes of one another - the King successfully distracted from his stage fright. Yuebei appears in an unexpected beam of jewel-like light (lazer eyes help) as The Little Piece of Heaven that rocks the Hero and Warrior's world. The final line ends with the lights turning on (something accidental via Jin & Yin) revealing the two monkeys cuddling/smooching each other with their baby girl between them.
The play receives raucous applause.
It gets second place to Pigsy's singing still. Macaque and Wukong aint even mad. The cubs were a little mad tho since they put so much effort into it.
Then it turns out that the grand prize of "the Ring of Light" meant... a trophy shaped-like the Ring. Not the actual ring.
Like a certain earlier misleading grand prize...
MK's fangs are still chipped from that incident. MK also bites the fake Ring just to be sure.
Luckily, a certain lotus demon refused to participate in the talent show (claiming he was feeling ill from the cold weather), and found the actual Ring of Samadhi above the hotel they were staying in.
Nezha, holding the Ring: "Lotus. Lanterns. Light. Lotus Lantern equals Ring of Light." The gang: "Ohhh..." Nezha: "Did you guys honestly think the city would just give away a major artifact and source of energy to some talent show winners?" The Gang: (*all looking very sheepish*)
Bonus: I imagine that the revised play has some musical elements to it. For some reason I can't get "When the Sun Loves the Moon" out of my head as the music inspo.
Ty so much such good ideas!

JourneyTober! Day 25 - Temple
The tension in the room could be cut with a knife. Jen and Monkey knelt on one side of the table. A cross from them, two young servants scrutinized them with barely disguised distain. Between the pairs was a spread of assorted foods and drinks, all untouched.
“The last time we had a stinky monkey as a guest,” one spoke curtly, flashing his eyes towards Monkey. “He ruined our Master’s cherished Gensing Fruit tree.”
“We only allow you to stay because Master Zhenyuan deems it prudent,” the other continued in an equally sour tone. “But know that your presence is undesired in this temple.”
“Wow, tell us how you really feel,” Jen snarked while Monkey bristled silently beside her. The boys turned their critical gazes towards her, all but sneering.
“You shouldn’t be here at all, foreigner.”
“To think Master would allow an outsider into his home.”
A quiet growl rumbled between Monkey’s clenched teeth. Jen was starting to worry he would lunge across the table and smack some manners into the mouthy children. While they might deserve it, she doubted their master would appreciate the violence.
“Qingfeng. Mingyue. That’s enough,” a voice cut through the room, bringing an end to the youths’ beratement. The immortal master appeared in the doorway. His long, white hair and beard with matching snowy robes gave him the appearance of a wise ghost. At his appearance, both servants fell into synchronized bows.
“Master Zhenyuan! We prepared tea–”
“–And served them food, as you requested.”
He hummed, strolling past them to take a seat the table. “Very good. Now go prepare rooms for our guests. They will need rest before they continue their journey.”
The servants bowed a final time and left the room, grumbling and shooting dirty looks to Monkey and Jen the whole way. Once they were gone, Master Zhenyuan let out a weary sigh, giving the two a sympathetic smile. “Apologies for my disciples. They take their roles very seriously and still hold grudges from our last group of guests.”
“Yeah, I can’t imagine why they messed up your tree,” Jen muttered, crossing her arms. “We were told to come here and I’m sure it wasn’t just for the oh-so-welcoming hospitality.”
“Yes, I have been expecting you,” Master Zhenyuan started, calmly pouring tea for each of them before picking up his own cup. “Many of us immortals are aware of the journey for the relics to restore the Monkey King. And while I myself have chosen not to get involved, my old friend Subodhi has lent his support to your quest.”
Monkey perked up at the name, head tilting in surprise.
“Who’s Subodhi?” Jen asked, glancing between the two for an answer.
Master Zhenyuan sipped his tea thoughtfully before speaking. “Master Subodhi was Sun Wukong’s first master, the one who taught him many great skills and spells, most of which he later used to get into trouble. When his mischief became too great, Subodhi sent him away and swore him to secrecy of his tutelage. With Monkey King’s oath fulfilled and his renewal in the balance, Subodhi has sent aid on behalf of his former disciple.”
“That’s great!” Jen gasped with relief. “So, what did he send to help?”
Even Monkey nodded eagerly, leaning forward in anticipation. What they didn’t expect was Zhenyuan to gracefully raise a hand and gesture back at them.
Jen looked around curiously but saw nothing. “Uh, is it something we already have?”
“It’s you, dear child,” Zhenyuan answered, staring Jen down. “How do you think you arrived here, a land so far from your own?”
“Well, I mean…” Jen fidgeted under his gaze, hands clutching her cold tea. “I thought it was because I lit an incense in that little house?”
“The shrine, yes,” the immortal nodded. “Subodhi scattered those shrines throughout your world, searching for a companion swayed by neither the Celestial Court nor the Buddhists’ influence. Someone with no previous connection to the Monkey King or his legacy. A perfectly impartial witness to fate.”
Monkey’s focus now turned to Jen as the information set in. He seemed just as baffled, mouth pulled in a frown and dark eyes searching her for answers.
“I…don’t know what you expect me to do,” she admitted quietly.
“The Companion to the Destined One is expected to travel with him and act as guide.” Master Zhenyuan’s words sounded practiced; an explanation quoted countless times before. “Without one, the other is doomed to fail. Only by working together, can all the relics be found and the journey truly succeed.”
Jen balked, panic starting to set in. “I–I don’t know how to be a guide! I don’t know anything about this place! I just found out what’s going on and why I’m here, how am I supposed to guide anyone?”
“All in good time,” Zhenyuan spoke softly, offering comfort that fell on deaf ears. “Not all guides lead to physical places. You two will find your way as long as you continue to work together. You’ve made it his far already but there’s still much ahead to overcome.”
“But…” Jen swallowed thickly, blinking away the tears building in her eyes. “How am I supposed to get home?”
Master Zhenyuan sighed. “That I do not know. Perhaps by seeing this journey to its end, the way home will be revealed to you as well. But for now, I’m sure you could use some rest.”
He looked to the doorway where the two servants had reappeared, both faces pinched in mirrored scowls. “Qingfeng and Mingyue will show you to your rooms. Please, make yourselves comfortable and let them know if you need anything. We can speak more over dinner.”
Jen could only nod, following after the servants, mind still abuzz.
“This will be your room, woman,” one of the boys said, pointing to the door on their left.
The other continued down the corridor, not even looking to see if he was being followed. “The monkey will stay be staying down the hall. We ask that you remain in your chambers until summoned for dinner.”
As her friend turned to leave, Jen’s anxiety flared and her hands reached out to grab his arm. “Monkey, wait! I…” But when he looked at her, the words faded away and she just felt silly and childish. “I’m sorry. I know you were expecting something else. I want to help, I really do, I…just don’t know how.”
Monkey’s expression was carefully still, but his eyes held a mix of sympathy and disappointment. After a moment, he sighed, giving her shoulder a gentle pat before turning away. As Jen watched him go, she couldn’t help feeling like she had already failed him.

hey can you make a smol what if fic about… What if Wukong had children of his own? (not like mk was his actual kid but he has like a army of children.)
Inspiration for the baby monkey taken from @rain-bow-donkey
Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, is pregnant.
It's the first thing that Qi Xiaotian notices about him. His stomach is swollen in a way that suggests that he's in the early stages of pregnancy. He would know, Tang made an entire presentation about the stages of pregnancy when giving the sex talk to who they still thought was a preteen girl, and that included a timeline of body changes.
"Hi!" The monkey waves. A basket sits on his arm, full of what looks like herbs. He wears soft yellow robes that look loose, clearly designed for his belly. He also wears a wrap around his chest. "About time you got here, you nearly missed lunch."
Xiaotian blinked. He had never imagined this in his fantasies of meeting the legend. "...lunch?"
"Yeah! Come on. My noodles aren't as good as your father's, but this little one likes them enough." As if that is a cue, a little face peeks over Wukong's shoulder, golden eyes staring right into Xiaotian's soul. He feels himself take a step closer and feels his heart melt.
That little face belongs to the cutest fucking baby monkey he's ever seen.
With that, Xiaotian follows the king inside.
The inside of the cottage is just as homey as it looks on the outside. . However, there are more toys scattered around then planned, and the fridge is covered in children's drawings. Most of them have a yellow figure that he guesses is the king, standing next to smaller white figures that must be the other monkeys. Wukong sets the basket down on the table and reaches around with what must be expert hands.
"Okay, Hua," he coos as he sets the little monkey down in a high chair. It's clearly battered and bruised from years of use but well-loved. "Hopefully, your siblings don't barge in like they promised." He glances at Xiaotian. "Sit, sit, I'll get the food."
Xiaotian sits down. Hua stares at him and he stares back. His heart melts even further. She's adorable, with soft golden fur and even softer gold eyes, resembling the Monkey King, excluding the red mark around her eyes.
"Here we go!" Wukong walks back in with a tray. There are three bowls, two large and one baby-sized, but only one still has steam coming off. "Alright, here we go..." He hands out each bowl. The moment her baby bowl is set in front of her, Hua is digging a hand into the noodles. "Enjoy yourself, sweetie."
"She's adorable." Xiaotian notes.
"She is, and she's one of the reason why I want you to be my successor."

Being in the situation Dove is in with Tripitaka, she tries to handle Red Boy a bit more delicately than she has with other demons. Mostly it's because he's a kid, and she doesn't have it in her to punt the boy as easily as the Monkey King. Instead, she breaks out of her holding cell (an easy feat when you can become a bird at will) and looks for a way out along with her confiscated weapons.
Unfortunately, the cave is pretty secure, with several guards posted along the way to the exit. It would be fine if it was just her, but with Tripitaka and no weapons, it'd be a challenge. So when she stumbles upon Red Boy consulting one of his demons on what to do next, she starts to think of another way to get the both of them to safety.
Dove Masterlist:
Negotiations
With little time to waste, you fly back into your cell with Tripitaka and turn back, testing the door a bit to make sure it’s still locked. Tripitaka frowns as you ensure the two of you are locked in. “What did you find?”
“A way out, but I couldn’t find my bow or dagger.” You turn back to him with an annoyed look. This whole situation wouldn’t have you feeling so vulnerable if you could at least have your dagger with you, but you might still be able to make this work without any weapons. “It’s alright, though, I have a plan.”
Before you’re able to elaborate, the two of you are alerted to footsteps quickly approaching. When you turn to face the new arrivals, you find Red Boy with another demon quickly following after him, this one also sharing some bull-like features. The boy stands in front of your cell and you cross your arms, careful not to touch the burn on your arm. You know what he’s here for, he was going to come for it eventually, and you already know what to say.
He’s quiet at first, a stubborn frown fixed over his features as he stares at you. Tripitaka looks between the two of you in a bit of confusion, unsure of what’s happening and conflicted on whether or not he should be concerned over what may happen next. Finally, the boy huffs. “I would like to talk with you, Miss.”
You let out a ‘hmph,’ looking away to play up your disinterest a bit. “I do not feel like talking with you.”
“You’re my prisoner, you have to listen to me!” The boy huffs, and when you sneak a glance at him, you see a slight steam coming off his shoulders. Whatever that fire was from before, it seems to be heavily connected to his emotions. Or, rather, his anger.
Keeping up the bored facade, you tilt your head a bit and look back at him. “Hhm, no. I already know what you want, and I can’t.” You hold up your injured arm for him to see. “You burnt me, remember? My gift won’t work if I’m injured.”
Is it a bold-faced lie? Only slightly, but Red Boy doesn’t seem to pick up on that. Instead, he glares at you, and you return the look with a smirk.
Finally, he gives in and turns to the other bull demon. “Go send for someone to look at her hand.” He orders, not bothering to wait for them to follow through before whipping back to watch you. “But don’t even think about running! I have my men everywh–”
Before he can finish, the entire cave begins to shake and everyone in the room loses their footing. You manage to catch yourself, Red Boy doing the same. He looks back towards where he came from, the both of you knowing the source of such a sudden quake.
You glance back at Tripitaka, half-amused. Before you left to scout out the cave, he mentioned that all the both of you had to do was wait for his disciples to rescue you. Sitting around to wait felt counter-productive to you, but it seems he was right to just wait after all.
The creaking of the cell door pulls you back into the moment, and you turn back in time for the bull demon to grab you by your good arm and pull you out. He closes the door behind you while Red Boy runs ahead to his other guards posted by the hall. “Get the carts outside and make sure neither of the humans leave! I have to take care of their friends.”
The boy runs out to prepare for your friends, and you manage to glance back at Tripitaka quickly before you’re pushed into the hall. You’re taken through twists and turns, and you do your best to remember the rooms you pass by, you still have to find where they took your weapons before leaving. You originally planned to handle Red Boy more delicately, but if the others have already found you, it would be better to find your things quickly so you won’t have to waste any more time here.
Eventually, you are taken into a furnished room where you’re sat down. The bull demon escorting you pulls aside another demon, speaking to them in a hushed voice before taking his leave. You watch him leave, half-wondering whether or not now was the time to fight your way out before dismissing the idea. Tripitaka seems confident that his disciples will get to the both of you just fine, and if your arm can be treated now, you’ll take it.
It doesn’t take long for the demon you’re left with to start cleaning your arm and putting your burn into a soaked wrap. It’s quiet in the room, but the same cannot be said for whatever chaos is unfolding outside. You can’t quite hear what’s being said, but you’re able to distinguish the voices from Wukong, Pigsy, and Red Boy, their words sounding colourful by the way they were yelling.
You expect your friends will already take care of the demons here by the time you’re done being tended to. It’d be even better if you run into Wukong while they’re on their way to get them, you could even save them the time looking and lead them back to Tripitaka yourself.
You’re not sure when it happens, but the voices outside quiet. It must be over, then. After your burn is done being dressed, you can leave and find them somewhere in the cave.
But that doesn’t happen. Instead, you’re surprised to find Red Boy walking into the room holding the side of his face. He seems a little bruised, he has a black eye and there’s a bit of blood running down the side of his mouth but, surprisingly, he seems fine.
“Are you alright, Great King?” The one wrapping your arm finishes with you before hurrying over to their leader.
If he’s still here, then what happened to your friends? “I am fine.” He grumbles, doing his best to stifle a yawn. He moves his hand down from his face, and you see more bruising around his cheek. “Just a little tired. Those disciples were barely worth the fight.” That’s not something you want to hear.
“Let me look at your face, we can get you fixed up in a moment.” The demon has him sit down next to you and the boy looks down at your arm.
He only looks for a second before turning away to continue the conversation, wiping the blood from his mouth. “Don’t bother! I’m barely even hurt.”
You can see a dribble of red coming from his nose now. “Did one of them hit you in the face?” You finally speak, the boy snapping his head to look over when you do.
He looks almost a little proud as he answers, holding his head up high. “No, I did.”
…That isn’t something to sound happy about. “It helps me control my power, the True Fire of Samadhi.” He explains, rather boastfully.
His apparent victory in his fight with the others seems to have him in a good mood. If they’re struggling to beat the kid, you may as well continue with your more ‘delicate’ plan. He did respond to you better when you still thought he was a human child. “I don’t believe I’ve heard of it.”
“What? Never?!” His voice cracks in surprise, it takes some strength not to giggle when it happens.
“Nope.”
“It’s like, the most powerful fire ever!”
“Hmm, I find that hard to believe.”
“But it’s the truth!”
You shrug in your ruse of disbelief. “I don’t know what to tell you. I am more of a, ‘see it to believe it’ kind of person.” His claim of this fire being so powerful feels like a stretch to you, but you cannot deny that it has to be something special if it helped him fight off your friends.
“I would show you, but I might kill you just from the smoke alone.” He giggles, a mischievous look crossing his features. “Even that smelly old monkey couldn’t handle it.”
“He is pretty smelly, isn’t he?” You grin, the boy nodding as he returns the expression. Though, you can’t help but feel a twinge of unease at his claim. Since when does Sun Wukong have trouble with fire?
Maybe he’s exaggerating. “So, to use this fire… you have to punch yourself?” You ask, the boy’s grin dropping at the question.
“It’s more complicated than that.” He looks away, his eyes darting to different corners of the room. “I, uh, I’m still figuring it out.”
You hum in response to his words, looking back at the demon who seems to be looking for something in their stash of supplies. “Your headache must be terrible, huh?”
“I’ve dealt with worse.” He frowns, and you let your gaze drift around the room.
“Still, I could help with that.” You speak casually, waiting for his response. It wouldn’t take too much out of you to heal some bruising and a black eye. It wouldn’t take the same amount of strain as healing eyes or a poisoned flesh wound. Besides, if you say the right things, this may go exactly how you want it to.
You can feel Red Boy’s eyes on you, suspicion laced in his voice. “Not until you get better, right?”
“I could try, I might just become a little tired.” You look back to meet his narrowed gaze.
“Why should I believe you?” He frowns. “You tried to stab me!”
“After you kidnapped my friend and I, then tell us how you planned to eat him.” You raise a brow at his reasons for distrust, crossing your arms. “I’m sorry you were so hurt by me threatening you, but how would you react if someone did the same to you?”
You’re not given a response to that. Not a verbal one, at least. His mouth opens to speak, likely in retaliation before it closes again and he looks away with a pout. You can see his mind working from where you sit, his eyes drifting from one place to the next in thought.
After giving him a moment to think, you offer a smile. “Listen, despite the kidnapping and burning, you do seem like you might be a good– albeit mischievous– kid.” He looks back to you as you continue. “I might be convinced to use my gift and give you what you want…”
Red Boy quickly brightens at that. “So you’ll do it?!”
“Not so fast.” You shake your head, and his face drops a bit in disappointment. “I have something you want, and you have something I want. I feel as though this means that negotiations are in order.”
His eyes narrow at the suggestion. “What do you want?” Good, he’s open to it. You half-expected he would shut you down after everything else he’s done so far.
You look down to your hands before answering his question. “It’s simple, for the last few years of my life, I’ve only had one goal. To help the Tang Monk however I can in retrieving the scriptures that wait for him in the Thunderclap Monastery. I can’t do that if he’s dead.” You deadpan.
Red Boy frowns, already knowing where you’re going with this. “So if you were to free us so that we may continue our journey, I’d happily use my gift for you.”
The boy pouts, his hands clutching his kilt. “You don’t understand how long I’ve waited for him! I could become immortal now, all I have to do is have him steamed and–”
“Let me ask you this, Red Boy.” You cut him off before he can describe any more and rest a hand on his. “Do you have anyone you deeply care for?”
His face scrunches up at that, a little confused maybe. “What?”
“Any family? Friends whom you would do anything for?” You press, the boy’s eyes fall to the floor in thought. You can see the thoughts running in his mind.
“All this time you’ve spent waiting for Tripitaka, I have spent on the road with him and our friends.” You smile, leaning down a bit to the boy as you continue. “I care very deeply for them. Hah, at this point, I’m starting to think of them as family. How would you react if someone told you they plan to cook one of your loved ones and then immediately ask you for a favour?” You ask, your voice becoming a bit more stern at the end.
He’s still silent, maybe contemplating your words, so with a sigh you throw in something to help your case a bit more. “At least Sun Wukong would have the manners to keep such upsetting plans to himself.”
“Hey, I have plenty more manners than that monkey!” He jumps up pretty quick, his eyes wide in what looks like offence. “He’s just some mangy ape, I was raised properly, as a prince!”
You have to look away to hide your grin, not expecting his reaction to be so intense. Wukong really fires this kid up, huh? “He is technically the Monkey King.” You shrug in his defence.
“His subjects probably eat the fleas off each other’s backs.” You can’t help but giggle at that one. Red Boy is definitely quick with his words, it’s pretty funny.
Still, you shake your head. “Are you and your subjects any more civilised if you eat humans?”
“Plenty of demons do!” He defends, throwing his arms up in the air in exasperation.
You cross your arms with a proud smile. “Not my friends, not Wukong.”
You make sure to add a little emphasis to the Great Sage’s name. It seems like the two really get under each other’s skin, as though Wukong throwing the boy off the mountain wasn’t proof enough of that. It’s clear that it’s working by the way Red Boy huffs out a puff of smoke through his nose. It’s a little cute, if you’re being honest.
Laying a hand on his shoulder, you continue to press on. “I imagine my friends will keep coming anyway, and we’ve yet to meet any demon that has stopped us for long.”
“You haven’t met any demons like me!” He huffs, crossing his arms as he sits back down.
A hum escapes as you consider his words. “Maybe, but unless your men can rival the power of the heavenly army, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.” His frown deepens at that, but you keep going. “All this fighting can be avoided, you just have to let Tripitaka and I go. I’ll use my gift to patch you up, heck, maybe I could explain a bit of how it works.”
That gets his face to brighten, his brows shooting up as he faces you with wide eyes. “Really?”
The reaction takes you a bit off-guard, but it’s difficult to not crack a smile at his child-like wonder. He is a child, after all. A very powerful child with no real restrictions or anyone to tell him what to do. No wonder he acts the way he does. You can just imagine the things you would have done at his age if you were given the same power and lack of restrictions. The world would be on fire.
“You strike me as the curious type. I wouldn’t mind telling you a bit about it, given that you let us walk free.” You offer, waiting for his answer.
The boy’s face scrunches up a bit as he looks away, seemingly in thought. He hums, his eyes flying from one place to the next while he contemplates your offer. You wait patiently for the boy, this may go smoother than you were expecting. Tripitaka and you might be back with the others before nightfall, you can already imagine the look on Sun Wukong’s face. The Great Sage seeing the two of you after he had to retreat from Red Boy’s fire, after he acted like you were someone he was in charge of protecting. That comment about your strength bugged you a little more than you wanted it to.
“Do you promise?” Red Boy brings you back into the moment, and you nod with a warm smile.
You place a hand over your heart. “I swear my life on it. I wouldn’t be that good of a person if I didn’t keep my word. Can I trust you to keep yours?”
“…Yes?”
Cute, but not good enough. “How about this, Red Boy? Release Tripitaka, and once I have confirmation that he is safe, I’ll use my gift for you. I don’t leave until I do what you want, and you don’t get what you want until I know my friend is safe. Does that sound fair?” You hold out a hand to him, the boy looking down at it and back to you.
He grumbles something under his breath in annoyance, but takes your hand. “Okay.”
With the deal made, you smile and Red Boy calls to the one who tended to your arm. “You, have the monk brought here now.”
“Yes, sir.” The demon nods before exiting the room. You find yourself a little relieved this worked, it isn’t often that talking with a man-eating demon works out as well as this seems to be going.
The demon quickly returns, followed by the same bull demon from before holding Tripitaka by his arm. Your friend spots you sitting next to the young demon, a look of confusion crossing his face when he does. “What do you want with him, sir?” The bull demon asks.
“I am going to let him go.” Tripitaka’s eyes go wide at that, his gaze flicking between you and the fiery-haired boy in a state of bafflement that you can only smirk at. The monk seemed so calm in the cell before, claiming that he’s become used to the routine of being taken and then saved. This must be an unusual development for him.
The bull demon seems just as confused as your friend. “You want me to what?”
“Do not make me repeat myself!” Red Boy huffs, some more smoke escaping his nose. “Take him to the stream outside the cave. He should be able to find his disciples if he follows the water downstream, I saw them fleeing in that direction after our fight.”
A little perplexed, the bull demon nods before turning with Tripitaka in hand. He begins to walk out with the monk, but stops as Tripitaka turns back. “Wha– Wait, I cannot go on my own, not without my friend!”
Red Boy frowns in irritation. “I still have business with her.”
“It’s alright, Tripitaka.” You call out to him as he’s pushed further out of the room. “Just go find the others, I’ll be with you all in a few hours!”
He isn’t given the chance to respond before he’s taken away. Once he’s gone, Red Boy stands up and looks at you with a somewhat disappointed sigh. “You want confirmation of his safe return, right?”
“Yes.” You nod, and he looks down before offering you his hand.
“Come with me, we can watch him and make sure he makes it back to your friends safely.” He mumbles, seemingly upset with having lost the Golden Cicada.
“Thank you, Red Boy.” You give the boy a pat on the head, ruffling his hair a bit. “I’m glad you decided not to, um, eat my friend.”
Red Boy shrinks back at the gesture, fixing you with a puzzled look before a small smile cracks over his face. He clears his throat with a bit of a proud look before guiding you out of the room and towards the exit of the cave. By the time you get outside, you’re greeted by stone steps leading down to the bank of a wide stream, a large field scorched black on the other side of it. Trees line the field, some of them partially or completely burnt. The opening to the cave seems to be carved into a cliffside.
The boy is quick to lift his free hand into the air and summon a flaming cloud. The sudden heat and fire that spits from it surprises you and you jump back before you have another chance to get burnt. A cloud of fire… this must have been the ball of fire Sun Wukong saw.
Red Boy looks back at you when you move away, then he looks back to his fire cloud with a frown. “Oh, right. Hmm…”
“It’s alright, just give me a moment.” You wave slightly in reassurance before changing into your dove form. You fly over to the boy and land on his head to protect yourself from the flames.
He giggles when you do, shaking a bit in amusement. It’s pretty cute, but he forces himself to stop and clears his throat. “Your bird feet feel weird on my head, sorry.” Aww, it’s almost funny to think this kid gave you and your friends any trouble.
Perched on his head, the two of you fly off on the cloud of fire. It takes no time to spot Tripitaka following the stream downhill, none the wiser to you and his previous captor spying on him. You continue to watch, making sure he avoids any wild animals or other demons until he eventually stumbles across Pigsy and Sandy with Ao Lie.
The reunion is sweet, the two demons running to crush their master with a hug. Despite the confirmation of his safe return, you want to frown. Where is Sun Wukong? Why isn’t he with his brothers? That’s… worrying. Why would he be separated from the others in the first place?
You’re not given much time to dwell on it when Red Boy huffs. “There, he’s safe now. Let’s go back.” He sharply turns and begins the flight back to his cave, leaving your friends to fulfil your end of the deal. As you fly back, you can’t help but wonder about your simian friend.
It worries you that he isn’t there, but not that he might be in trouble. You worry about the opposite. If he isn’t with Bajie and Wujing, what could he be doing right now?
#solving a problem… without fighting?#what a strange concept#im sure wukong left to go get some calming tea to share with everyone 😁#little dove#jttw red boy#jttw tripitaka

Lego Monkie Kid Spotlight AU
What if, when Macaque came back, he didn't want revenge. What if did at first, just a few fights with Wukong that he lost every time, but eventually went "whats the point in this?" and moves on? What if he went to one of the few things that still brought him comfort: Theater.
Welcome to the Macaque-Preforms-In-Musicals AU, aka Spotlight AU
Everything is exactly the same. But one day, MK drags Wukong to a musical Mei got tickets for, Heathers to be exact (cuz i say so). Mei got three, and the third was supposed to be for Tang, but he got hella sick before and couldn't go (he was VERY upset about it. poor guy) so MK convinces Wukong to tag along so the ticket didn't go to waste. Wukong is in his hoodie, all slumped in his chair, thinking this was a waste of time and maybe he could just nap until the end. And that was his plan, really. He tries to block out the noise, tries to just sleep, but then hears-
"September 1st, 1989. Dear Diary-"
And he sits up cuz he KNOWS that voice. He knows it like he knows his own. He sits up and, lo and behold, Macaque was center stage as Veronica Sawyer (also cuz i say so). Wukong is in shock. He hadn't seen Macaque in years, and now he was performing in a musical? He wasn't surprised at that, at least. He knew how much Macaque loved performing.
He just... wasn't expecting it. He also wasn't expecting to get jealous during Dead Girl Walking, or to cry during Seventeen. And when MK saw him crying, borderline sobbing, he just assumed Wukong REALLY liked the musical.
MK and Mei have no idea who the darker monkey is, of course. They just see an actor with an amazing voice and hella good skills. Wukong knows though. He hardly pays attention to the story, eyes zeroed in on Macaque alone, ears only tuned into his voice. It was weird, seeing him so close (cuz of course Mei had to get seats close to the stage) without them trying to tear each others throats out.
And when the musical came to an end, he stood with everyone else, clapping. Macaque is all smiles and sweat, bowing with his fellow cast members. His eyes go over the crowd and eventually fall onto a familiar shade of gold. He didn't flinch, he didn't react, but his smile faltered ever so slightly. And as soon as the curtain fell, he ran to his dressing room to try and breathe.
He did all of this to AVOID Wukong. He knew the king never liked the theater arts, only ever enjoying the ones Macaque were in or held. But now he was here, clapping with tears in his eyes.
When he leaves to go home, Wukong's waiting for him. He tries to talk to him, his words stuttered and awkward, but Macaque shuts it down fast.
"I don't want to hear it, Wukong," he says. "Leave me alone. I've moved on. You should to." And walks past him.
Wukong was hurt, but not surprised. He tries to honor Macaque's wishes, TRIES to leave him alone... but apparently MK thinks Wukong would LOVE to keep going to musicals with them.
He tries to say no, but can't really come up with a good excuse. I mean, he can't rlly say 'sorry kid, but my ex that i kinda sorta killed is starring in a lot of them and he still doesnt like me and asked me to leave him alone. so i cant come with you, sorry.'
So he goes, but with a better disguise. That better disguise being a different colored hoodie and sunglasses. Cuz macaque totally wont recognize him that way.
I literally came up with this last night, so I haven't worked out all the details yet. This is a shadowpeach au tho, and they do eventually make up <3

Self match up that was requested of me😂 @fusciaguardian
My personality
I am an introvert leaning ambivert. I find it hard to initiate conversations with people I don’t know unless it’s required, but I get along well with most people with the exception of those that want to be assholes just because. I’m more willing to stand up for others than myself, I tend to be quiet when it comes to standing up for myself or expressing my opinions. I will avoid conflict at all costs except for protecting or standing up for someone else. I try to be happy and positive generally, but when I’m overwhelmed with negative feelings I tend to isolate so I can get the feelings out *sometimes struggle with depression and anxiety*. I find it a lot easier to be positive for other people’s situations than my own. I get told I’m a very kind/big hearted person a lot, but really I just try to do what I feel is right. I am not diagnosed in any way, but I am fairly certain I have ADHD or Autism or some combination of both. My family means a lot to me and I love spending time with and spoiling my nieces and nephew. I’m 25 but I get told I still look like a teenager (it doesn’t help that I’m only 4’10). I am very impatient and especially with big or important things I want it to happen like that and can get very frustrated when it takes a long time. I try my best not to take out any negative emotions out on anyone else, it doesn’t always work out but I try my best and apologize when that happens. Generally speaking I’m harder on myself than anyone else; IE expectations, self esteem/confidence, etc. I don’t like extremely crowded or loud environments so clubs or other places like that aren’t exactly my thing, but I do like going out and doing things with my family like shopping, getting food, etc- I also like just hanging out at home where I’m comfortable. I make terrible jokes and puns all the time- generally a joking happy go lucky person. Sometimes I like to be teasing/a little shit but only sometimes😂. I like to think of myself as someone who is understanding and forgiving, and especially if I see actual change *probably more than I should be sometimes*
your gender and pronouns, sexuality, etc
I am a female and go by she/her. I am still kind of figuring things out in the sexuality aspect which is difficult when not having been in a long term relationship before, but at least hetero-oriented demisexual/demiromantic or aroace.
your aesthetic if you want
Kind of a mix of casual/comfortable or cute I guess. I like cute clothes but mostly I will just wear jeans and a T-shirt
your hobbies, things you like
I like reading, writing, and watching TV shows and movies. I love spending time with my family and getting to travel to new places. Love music
optionally your type
Definitely himbo or nerdy/shy sweetheart although I’m also drawn to grumps with a heart of gold. Mostly sunshine characters who’ve gone through some rough times and still maintain that positivity. I definitely like guys who are either Bi/Pan and/or just non toxic masculinity because I have no time for that BS
Demon Slayer
Giyu Tomioka
As much as I love Rengoku and I have no doubt we would be best friends, I think the being loud and yelling tasty every time he eats would startle me a little too much for there to be anything more than friendship😂
You might not think so, but I think Giyu would actually be very comforting and supportive if his SO was struggling with really anything but specifically with depression and anxiety because he experiences it himself
Would definitely act like one of the girlies😂; let me play with his hair/put bows in it, get his nails done with me, go shopping, really down for whatever
I’m more on the quiet side so I think it fits that he is also on the quiet side
LMK
Monkey King
Ok, I get that some people don’t like him - and everyone is entitled to their opinion
I think he’s very caring/nurturing towards people he cares about and yes his past is… yikes, but he truly has grown and become better because of his friends both in the past and the current Monkie Kid group
No he doesn’t always do things the right way and may not even do the right things all the time. But what he does comes from a desire to protect the people he cares about and take care of things before they even have to worry about it
Would be very fun to be a teasing shit to him because he takes it as an opportunity to do it right back
Does not like crowds and has terrible stage fright just like me😂
Transformers
Bumblebee (Just all Bumblebees. Doesn’t matter the iteration😂)
Honestly it’s hard to explain but he’s just the sweetest, most kindhearted bot and also badass
Basically I see a lot of myself in him and he also has a lot of qualities I admire and strive to have
I love him very much and we would get along very well 😂
JJK
Takuma Ino * honestly this is the best I had given that JJK doesn’t have that many adult males that aren’t evil but he is sweet and seems chill so here we are*
Don’t get me wrong I love Gojo but the arrogance would get too annoying after a while, and Nanami is way too stuffy😂
From what little we got to see of him he seems sweet, and wants to prove himself which I understand
He also seems like someone you can just chill with
My Hero Academia
Kiego Takami/ Hawks. Taishiro Toyomitsu/ Fatgum *I had to do both of them because I honestly felt I could be equally paired with both*
Both of them are kind and compassionate
Both would be gentlemanly/chivalrous towards an SO; I.E- holding doors, pulling out chairs, etc.
Both would understand how important my family is to me and I feel would actually become fully integrated into my family * and let’s be honest Hawks doesn’t exactly have family that cares about him so I think he also deserves that*
Both love joking around and teasing
Generally I think all of these would be a relationship where it is also a best friendship. They are all just generally sweet and caring towards an SO and would definitely put just as much effort and caring into the relationship as me

Chapter 4- The boy means trouble
Previous|Table of contents|Next
" Citizens!- It is I... RED SON! I have taken control of the weather station that will harness the very power of nature to return my father to his former glory; this message is more of a courtesy"
"HAHAHAHA!"
" When I finish, my father will once more dominate the wor-"
Jie turned her TV off.
"Yep, I heard enough, gods... this boy should find himself some hobby or something..." She muttered
Gou looked at her from the floor with his soul-piercing eyes.
"Nah Gou, they need to fix this on their own" she took a piece of popcorn and threw it into her mouth "Besides... I don't think that master would like me to stick close to the Monkey Boy"
Gou barked and run to the door.
"Oh, I get it. You want to go outside" Jie got up from her couch and came to the door to open them
"WHAT THE-?!"
As soon as Jie opened the door she felt a strong blow of wind.
The weather was indeed crazy- The wind was so strong that it almost made Jie fly to the wall!
She had to use a lot of strength to close the entrance to her house, after that she felt exhausted and laid down on the floor. She looked at her pet again, he was definitely waiting for her to react.
But now it really made Jie change her mind.
Ugh!
She stood up and teleported herself to the weather station.
MK was doing really bad, mostly because he couldn't control his staff. At the end he kicked himself out of the station, and when he was ready to fall on the ground he suddenly felt someone... catching him?
" Got ya" he heard a woman's voice behind his back
Jie caught him as if he was a thrown doll. She held his arms tightly, then put him on the ground. When he was standing before her, still his back facing her face, she wiped the dust off of her dress.
"JIE?!" MK shouted into her ears" W-what are you doing?!"
" What are YOU doing? Letting yourself be kicked by some kid with an anger issue?!" Jie asked with her arms crossed, not hiding her frustration over the boy's behaviour
"I-I..." MK's face suddenly dropped
As Jie was waiting in silence for his answer she suddenly heard a familiar voice;
" How you doing down there?"
"Monkey King!" MK gasped in surprise
"Greetings, Master" Jie bowed down
Monkey King's eyes moved to Jie, he didn't notice her before and looked surprised
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"
And just a little angry...
Jie on the other hand was completely unmoved
"I was just walking around, what a coincidence that Monkey Boy was just thrown down at me..." she said with a dull voice trying to escape her master piercing gaze
Then MK started talking;
"Great, now that you're all here we can fly up there and smash that-
"No, no, no, no" Wukong interrupted "In case you forgot I'm retired. You're supposed to be the one taking care of the bad guys"
"Th-Then what about ms Jie?" MK asked the demoness with tears in his eyes, hoping for help
"Don't look at me" She answered firmly
The shocked reaction of MK was saying everything.
"But don't worry- after all you are INVINCIBLE- right?"
" Well yeah I-I mean I am invincible but you know..." MK made a loud exhale and turned to Jie "You were right, I can't control my powers... I feel like I'm only messing everything up!"
Jie didn't know what to say so she discretely give an eye signal to the Monkey King. He seemed to understand since he finally jumped off of his cloud.
" Listen kid, the problem is really simple" He announced calmly
" What is it?!" MK was ready for the answer
"It's you"
"Huh?"
"Ahem... what he means is your lack of self-confidence" Jie explained quickly so that MK wouldn't get the bad idea
" But I am self-confident!" MK almost shouted into Wukong's ears
" No, you're just loud" Wukong pushed him away with his tail " The only way to self confidence is-
" Take it till I make it?"
"NO! Practice!- you think I took shortcuts?!"
"Well..." Jie who knew his history was just about to verify the truth of this sentence
" NO!" Wukong interrupted her " It took me centuries of training and fighting and just beating up demons- just so many demons...anyway! Nothing worth anything comes for free"
Somehow for Jie it sounded a little bit of suspicious.
"But what about my friends, the city!" MK seemed very nervous
At that moment his attitude caught Jie's attention
'So he does care about others huh?'
After MK's battle with DBK, seeing all the ruins of the city Jie though that the boy didn't even care about other's safety but it turned out that she was wrong... and that actually made her feel a little bit guilty.
"How about limiting your power" a thought escaped from Jie's lips
" Is it possible?" MK jumped to Monkey King and used his puppy eyes on him
Gah..
" Alright, there is a way that I can limit your power, but..."
"But, what?"
"You won't be invincible anymore"
With that Jie saw a moment of hesitation in boy's eyes, but it was just a moment that disappeared before it could change his decision
" Alright, let's do this!"
As expected, with the help of Wukong MK was able to win against Red Son and change everything back to normal.
" Is something wrong?" Jie asked Monkey King who was staring at her for a long time
'Maybe he is angry because I interfered'
" Nothing, just that..." Wukong scratched his head nervously " I guess you were right... about you know-the kid and his control over my power. Maybe I rushed too fast..?"
Jie was totally not expecting her master to say such a thing, this could be classified as an apology, from the Great Sage!
'Perhaps that monk really taught him some good manners'
"I was the one wrong, this boy... He actually has a really kind and warm soul" She spoke slowly while looking at the mentioned MK, who was happily playing and chuckling with his friend, Jie noticed that when MK is with people he cherishes, his soul is shining more.
" Hoho..." a strange laugh escaped from the monkey's mouth " So you finally accepted him, hmm?"
" Let's say that I can force myself to tolerate him for the time being"
"How cold..."
She chuckled a little but soon her face turned more serious.
" It won't be only DBK who he will have to fight, right..? She spoke quietly
" No. When the rumours about my descendant will spread further there will be more, much stronger opponents he will need to fight with" Monkey King explained with a serious tone of his voice "But till then, we will make him ready"
'...'
'...we, huh?'
' As I tough, because of this boy I'm gonna have more things to do...,
Sigh
'What a troublesome kid...'

Lego Monkie Kid Rewatch: Season 3
Episode 7, Cooking with Chang'e
Chang'e! When first watching this show, Chang'e's story was one of the only chinese mythologies I knew, and I loved her story. So you know I was hyped to see how LMK chose to interpret her.
Over the Moon is still my favourite media adaption of her.
Like Tang, Pigsy also gets the JTTW funhouse mirror treatment. Zhu Baijie is super lazy? Lets make Pigsy the hardest working demon in the show! Zhu Baijie constantly at odds with Wukong because the monkey is either ruining his fun ("no! you totally killed that demon I thought was a hot girl!") or making him do extra work (tripitaka: "monkey's taking too long. i'm worried." sends baijie to check on him)? Pigsy can still have beef with Wukong, but this time its out of protectiveness toward MK. Zhu Baijie never gaining enlightenment because he couldn't master his base desires? Pigsy has to literally stay away from pingpong tables as if he's allergic because he has no self control and needs others to intervene to stop him once he starts. Zhu Baijie got kicked out of the heavenly realm because he hit on Chang'e? Pigsy will be the 1# fan of Chang'e cooking show.
Wukong's rocket sound effects and playing with his food. This is everything to me.
Why isn't Sandy saying anything about MK taking apart his camper to turn it into a rocket? The guy is always so concerned and sad when his rides get smashed.
Ah. That's why.
Funny how the gang just casually forgets about Sandy the same way the fandom does.
"Can he just do that? Get new powers whenever he wants?"
Tang being the 25% of the fandom that rightfully questioned MK's powers.
Me and the other 75% who just accepted it because it was cool.
Ah how I pity my naive past self.
"I still believe in you. Maybe you just need a stronger motivator."
And then Wukong steps up to reveal he coulda been doing in this whole time, literally blowing everyone away.
But not because he's lazy like some people think. Rather, because he's a good mentor. He encouraged MK to try first, using positive words to try and stoke MK's confidence. And when MK fails, he assures his pupil he still believes in him and they just need to find some better motivation. The only reason he's stepping forward now is because they don't have time to let MK work his way through the problem like in season 1 (example: s1ep7 The Impossible Delivery. Wukong tells MK what his issue is and how he can work through it, then lets him stew over it on his own time).
"I've never even made a rocket ship before! Can you believe that!"
Look at how happy this guy is! Just look! He's finally having a new experience, doing something he's never done before, in who knows how many generations. Can you just imagine the amount of happy sauce pouring into his brain right now!
Side note: Wukong designed this. Just think about that for a moment.
That cute winky face with a bow tie, the bajillion levers and buttons to fiddle with, the firework esc shape. This ship comes straight out of the Monkey King's imagination. This is his style, his signature. And its cute and goofy.
"OMG! That might be the cutest thing I ever saw!"
Friendly reminder that Wukong is indestructible and can appreciate great designs without pesky mortal terror or annoying survival instincts getting in the way.
"The old ring triggered the alarm system trick."
Favourite quote of the episode. Thank you Sean Schemmel for this awesome line delivery.
"Come on bud, gold vision."
So is this the 'stronger motivator' you were talking about?
Wukong just letting MK squash him through a grate because he's a good mentor trying to build up MK's confidence by letting him take the lead in the adventures.
I promise MK won't feel less like a hero if you just turn into a bunny or something for a moment. Pigsy would probably appreciate not being suffocated by your stony weight.
MK literally using his past failure for his present success! Love it!
Turned the camper mini instead of into a rocket ship? Okay, not what he was going for. But hey, doesn't mean its not useful in a different circumstance! What a positive message!
Look at this positive ball of moonshine!
Love this girl so much. She found a way to enjoy her life on the moon doing something she loves. Chang'e is just thriving in this modern age where distance doesn't seclude you from finding mutuals and being social. Her being a tv star and probably influencer just makes so much sense.
"Why I never! Oh you better believe we'll be having WORDS when we get home, young man!"
Anyone else get flashbacks?
It's good to see Pigsy find reconciliation with Chang'e considering Zhu Baijie past mistake.

The Monkees promoting Head in the Bay Area, 1968. Photo 2 courtesy of Oakland Tribune.
“If we were considering animals, David Jones would probably be a cocker spaniel; Micky Dolenz a poodle; Mike Nesmith a dachshund and Peter Tork an afghan… not a monkey among them. But, following an interview with the pre-teen dream makers, we are considering ‘The Monkees,’ who were live and reasonably sane in the Bay Area last week to plug their new movie, ‘Head,’ which opened Wednesday in the Eastbay. After chatting for an hour, individual personalities emerged… David Jones is… uh, well… a cocker spaniel; Micky Dolenz, a poodle…. There is just no way to describe the four musician-actors who have probably absorbed more sarcasm from critics, more distrust from the public and endured a faster-paced schedule than any other rock group on Planet Earth. There is something unreal about the four of them together — in an ‘in person’ interview in a posh hotel suite with promotion agents in the background. Their friendliness, cleanliness and politeness are real but their togetherness falls apart trying to come together. By now, anyone who reads even one of the world’s live languages knows they were brought together for the first time to star in a TV series by the same name. A marketable item made up of ex-jockey and musical-comedy (‘Oliver’) star David Jones; Grown up TV ‘Circus Boy’ wonder Micky Dolenz; country-western-folk singer from Texas, Mike Nesmith, and Greenwich Village vintage guitarist Peter Tork. The four speak to each other as acquaintances and one gets the impression of a working-hours-or-sessions relationship only. They appear to be a little too polite to each other, to aware of each other for comfort. Peter defers to Micky’s talent as a director. ‘You know, like we were doing one TV show with Micky directing,’ Peter imitates Micky’s muggings. ‘He takes the script, flips it open and says, “Let’s see here now… we shoot starting with page seven… here boys,” he calls over the camera crew and in bright sunlight shoots in four hours with no rehearsal what it normally takes 12 hours to shoot.’ Micky grins, bows politely with a ‘Thank you, kind sir.’ […] ‘We did some shows that we really liked,’ Peter said. ‘But there were so many formula shows where Micky played crazy villains, David always got the girl… we just couldn’t take another season of it.’ ‘In addition to the “7 to 7” hours at the studio,’ David said, ‘we’d have to get a song out for the show, plan concerts, rehearse for and record albums. Some nights I’d work until 3 a.m. then have to be back at the studio for makeup at 6 a.m. the same day.’ Still, their critical success came with their Marx-Brothers-ish approach to comedy, that aspect of their careers which has been the most time-consuming. ‘The Monkees’ don’t see it that way. Mike plots their future in music with visuals as an accompaniment rather than the focus. ‘Music was always the major thing even in our series,’ he said. Most reviews and public response do not agree with this. Past the pre-and-early-teens, people can more or less take or leave the ‘Monkees’ sound and it was considered little more than background to innovative comedy on their show.” - article by Peggy King, Oakland Tribune, December 7, 1968

The Gang x LBDs Child! Reader
Warning : Mentions Of Manipulation / Possession
×××
You have done it. You have tricked them all, you're manipulation skills are just as if not better than hers now here you were, at your home made shrine of her. "I will avenge you Mother... I will make sure your destiny is fulfilled... They trust me Mother... they all do, even... the Monkey King. Now I just need one more person..." The girl said, no one knew you her daughter. No one apart from The Mayor, It was only natural you would go to him and restore his power with your own abilities. After all... Evil with always live on. You used your mist to go the place with the pilgrim satatues. There he was, The Mayor. The was mumbling to himself about being left tied up to die but you would change that.
"How dare they just leave me like that... I'm THE MAYOR!" He stated in anger "Indeed you are, Mother left you to gain the control of Sun Wukong. But I promise I will not do that, I Have my own plans for you.... Baigujing." You said with that menacing smile of yours
"Lady Y/n.... What honour do I have to see you again?" He said almost happy to see you again.
"I am here to restore your power, and you can help with fulfilling my mothers destiny." You said as you broke him from his bonds and restoring him to his full power. "So my lady... what took you so long?" He ask slightly curious on why he waited so long for you, "My apologies Baigujing but you must understand that I had to gain the trust Mk and his low life friends. I would've come much quicker if they didn't know who my mother is."
-
"Hey Y/n, Mk and I going to the arcade wanna come?" Mei ask you, she's actually grown to like you it going to be such a shame when you betra her. "U-uhh... sure of course!" You had never cared for video games or anything of the sort but since you have to keep up the appearance of needing them to trust you, you have no choice but to join them. You just watch while Mayor rebuilds the mech, at one point you just stare at Mei.
-
"The Samadhi Fire.... it is weapon that will help me refordge this world... wouldn't you agree My Daughter?" Your mother, The Lady Bone Demon had said to you "Yes Mother... It will help you make this meaningless world perfect." You answered back, you had looked up to your mother. What child didn't, but you were unusually quiet "Is something the matter Y/n?" The Bone Demon asked noticing your odd behaviour you are silent for a few seconds before you reply "Yes mother I am alright." "Good... Now stay hidden until I'm done with Sun Wukong. I sense he will be here soon." She tells you, you do as you say and hide until you're told otherwise.
-
You open your eyes after the flashback. As you look over at Mei again you were determined to get the samahdi fire, you're weren't going to wait like your mother did but you were going make her use it as you see fit by taking it forcefully.
Even if you knew it was a risky plan you were going to fulfill your mother's destiny one way or another.
-
It has been a few months and it is finally done. The mech has been rebuilt "Soon, my mothers destiny will be complete. Bring the monkey king his friends to me Baigujing." You had said to him as he chuckled and bowed "Of course My Lady.." He said sinisterly as he left. Now it was a waiting game for them to arrive.
It's been almost an hour now and finally they have arrived "Y/n, what are you doing here?" Mk asked in surprise "For the same reasons as all of you." You replied with that emotionless tone you usually held, "I don't know how it is in working condition but someone's planing something.. evil." He said trying to sound convincing, even got Monkey King to follow which was in your opinion... Perfect.
They have been debating on how to properly destroy it before they agreed on using the samadhi fire would be the best option. You grinned as she prepared it, everything was going perfectly in your favor.
"Ok..." Mei said as she prepared the fire to destroy it, when she released it the mech powered on and began sucking the fire out of the dragon girl her screams of struggle where something you took pleasure in. They were all in shock and confused on what was happening.
By the time it was done Mei was out if it she could barely stand.
They were still wondering how this happened until they heard a laugh a rather sicking laugh they turned and saw you smiling it soon became clear to them that you were responsible for this they had never felt such betrayal
"Did you realy think I wouldn't follow in my mothers footsteps?" You taunted them "With the samahdi fire I can fulfill my mothers destiny!" You had stated as Wukong went in for the attack, but no one said it would be easy for them.
You teleported away quickly and grabbed Mk and went high in the sky "Continue to attack and I will." You said you weren't going to hesitate to drop him. Even if it was cheque it would be an unfortunate ending him, The Monkie Kid. Unless... An idea came to mind. Mk was weaker than Monkey King, you knew that even if it was by a small fraction. You could use Mk against them. Monkey King was unsure of what to do but he paniced once you through him towards the mech used your power you possess him.
The shock and pain on their faces was utterly beautiful for you. Mk was going to need a great pawn in this game.
They didn't know what to do, especially Monkey King, as Mk has his staff.
For now... all they can do is hide and think of a plan but with Mk and the fire.
But it there options are slim as You have the fire and a mortal.

Jiǔwěihúlí/Jiuweihuli - The Nine Tailed Vixen
By the way; Wukong in "The Monkey King and the Infant"/TMKATI au isnt the only monkey getting an adoptive parental figure >:3
Went down a little of a Huli jing rabbit-hole after recieveing this ask from @dorothygale123:
And while researching Jin and Yin in the book, I realised some stuff;
In "Journey to the West", the Jin and Yin's mother is frequently described as "aged/old madam", making it likely that she had them in the demon equivalent of middle-age.
Here's the poetry Wukong jots down (he does that alot in the book) when he sees her for the first time;
"Snow-white hair all tousled,
And starlike eyes all aglow.
Her face, though ruddy, has many wrinkles;
She‟s full of spirit though few teeth remain.
Charming—like the frosted chrysanthemum;
Rugged—like an old pine tree after rain.
A scarf of fine-spun white silk wraps her head,
And bejeweled gold rings hang from her ears"
For some odd reason, the monkey cries at the sight of her (his excuse being that he has to bow to her while disguised as a servant). Then he abruptly bonks her and her servants while travelling before stealing her divine Binding Gold Rope and disgusing himself as her to trick her sons. And of course the whole Calabash incident happens, the boys uncle calls down an army of fox demons to fight the pilgrims, and Lao Tzu has to show up and smack his lab assistants across the head.
Which leaves the question... how does Lao Tzu know the kids of a random fox lady???
Well you see, in the Han-era (206 BCE - 220 CE); Xiwangmu was often depicted with a white-furred Huli Jing among her ladies-in-waiting. But any worship of fox-deities was out-lawed in the Song dynasty (960 CE - 1279 CE) due to a cult religion that worshipped Su Daji (of the "Investiture of the Gods/Fengshen Yanyi" fame).
So my idea for Jiuweihuli in the extended LMK-verse, is that she's was once Xiwangmu's og bestie, even long before the celestial tigress became Empress. The fox being among many chaotic and infernal spirits in the future Queen Mother's posse.
Upon the abdication of Yuanshi Tianzun as the Divine Emperor; Jiuweihuli would assist the future-Jade Emperor in his ascension to the throne, gaining her the titles "Dragon-Crushing/Supressing Vixen" due to her defeating multiple draconic rivals in battle.
For many centuries, Jiuweihuli and her family were welcome members of the Imperial Court. The older vixen having a position almost equal to a head consort despite her and the Emperor not having such interest in eachother.
Then the Investiture crisis happened...
Within years, all that Jiuweihuli had built in the Celestial Realm crumbled. The actions of Su Daji soured opinion of the Celestials towards all fox spirits. Jiuweihuli was forced to be exiled from the Jade Palace down to Earth to prevent her being killed in an angry mob.
Penniless, alone, and with only her trusty pipa to her name; Jiuweihuli would travel and sing.
Eventually she gained a reputation as a grand preformer, drawing in audiences and tudis alike. Most of her trainees were unaware of her true nature, and those who did kept it quiet - drama kids loved the tragedy of the vixen's tale and would sing it throughout opera houses.
And one day, some time after the Monkey King tore through Heaven; Jiuweihuli gained a very unusual apprentice.
Jiuweihuli, sitting at her vanity table: "You look familiar." Macaque, stepping out of the shadows: "I was once the attendant to Princess Iron Fan, but I believe both of our places in the court have been absolved." Jiuweihuli: "Oh yeah, I went to that wedding. Had to wear a glamour. Is that Bull prince treating her right?" Macaque: "He is. He was even willing to sacrifice his place in his own court for her." Jiuweihuli: "Ah. Young love. But what brings you here?" Macaque, sheepishly: "I uh... heard you were the person to go to if I wanted to learn how to preform professionally." Jiuweihuli: "...your boyfriend's in jail, right?" Macaque: "Uh, yeah?" Jiuweihuli, getting up from her vanity table: "Good. 'Cus you're about to recieve many admirers." Macaque: :'D!
You see, the older fox spirit knew she wasn't to be the "Vixen of the Stage" for much longer. She was already thousands of years old, and had found herself in the family-way by means of a romance gone sour. So when the dark, mysterious, and deadly beautiful Six-Earred Macaque showed up in her dressing room asking for mentorship? Jiuweihuli knew she had found her understudy.
With the Macaque taking on her most famous roles, Jiuweihuli was able to focus on raising her twin sons; Jin and Yin. Macaque often found himself dragged into babysitting the little terrors by the maternal fox, even if he had to admit their thieving skills were very good. The vixen in turn would protect the monkey from more imposing audience members/fans and encourage his more sarcastic humor.
She was of the shoulders Macaque cried upon when him and Wukong had their falling out.
Eventually the vixen managed to get into contact with an old... "friend" (the twins gag at the thought) Lao Tzu to provide the reckless boys some decent education.
Aaand of course Wukong had to show up centuries later and cause havoc for the fox family when the twins got a little wild with their teacher's stash/artifacts. Luckily Jiuweihuli's brother, Hu A'qi, managed to smooth things over with heaven and offered his studious daughter as another lab assistant to keep the boys in check. Jiuweihuli, cleaning her wounds, sent a letter informing Macaque that his "idiot boyfriend" was out of jail...
Jiuweihuli soon lost her understudy.
The shadow monkey too blinded by anger to consider who would have to pick up the pieces if he failed. Jiuweihuli would eventually go on to teach a hundreds of aspiring actors and musicians, but she always would mourn for her little shadow.
Cue the events of "The Monkey King and the Infant" where Macaque begins frequenting and eventually working at the Megapolis Threatre House. He recognises not only his Brotherhood-era friend Jade-Faced; but a certain old master of his...
Jiuweihuli: "Do I know you?" Macaque: "I should hope so. I was your understudy for many years." Jiuweihuli: "I've trained hundreds of understudies, hon." Macaque: "You trained me during the Tang-era? I could manipulate the shadows?" Jiuweihuli: "Doesn't ring a bell." *sly smirk* Macaque, realises she's messing with him: *sigh* "My idiot boyfriend hit you on the head with a cudgel and I stupidly ran after him and got killed." Jiuweihuli, dropping the act: "Mihou! My little moonlight! Oh how I've missed you!" *gives him a big lipstick-stained smooch on the cheek*
The old vixen is very protective of her understudy now that she has him back. Her motherly side really comes to the surface when she's interacting with the shadow monkey, even if her interactions with her biological children isn't as soft. Jin and Yin get a slap of her sandal more than a few times for their foolishness.
If she learns that Macaque has a kid/kid on the way, Jiuweihuli is going full Grandma-mode. She's always considered her understudy as equal to her own kits and now he's all grown up!! (╥ ω ╥)
And you better believe a certain Monkey King is getting his ass kicked by an old lady the second Jiuweihuli learns he's around.
