this is not normally something I would get hung up on honestly but the people taking a victory lap over it have my blood boiling. like if SF6's localization team tweeted "it's pronounced Rai-Yu" or had Kyle Hebert say "Rai-Yu" there would be a shitstorm. people would literally be review bombing the game, but because it's Gaelic, a dying indigenous language, they just don't care.

it's like if the cat was named Jalapeno and this was pronounced correctly in Japanese but the localization demanded fans call him Jal-uh-pen-oh instead because that's what it looks like phonetically. Except in this hypothetical Spanish is a dying language only very recently managing to make a comeback through the tireless effort of a few dozen native speakers. That would seem psychotic, right?

also not to get too radical on here or anything but im really side eyeing the fact that even with 2 new nations since i last played, we still havent gotten ANY more range in character design....hoyo, you DO know you can still create cute anime style characters that are diverse???? The next chapter I have to write for my fic involves two characters being held hostage and tortured, and the thought of writing that right now makes me want to throw up.

I just saw the bodycam footage released of those five girls being taken and tortured by Hamas. How can I write about my favorite characters being held hostage, tortured, and eventually rescued, when 128 of my people are still being held and tortured with no end in sight? Shani Louk never got to be rescued.

Who am I to be writing fanfiction when there are still children being held hostage? It so easily could have been me. Had I been closer to Gaza, had Hamas made it to Jerusalem. But instead I’m in my apartment in Jerusalem, and there are girls younger than me who have been in hell for seven months.

I’m not giving up on the fic, I know writing it is my way of coping, I just feel like I need to acknowledge somehow the unfairness of it all. I wish my people could be rescued as easily as my characters.
