Someone was being a fucking hater on my explicitly positive DATV post AGAIN (u all know I can see your tags right. They get delivered to me express mail style) so hereâs an essay about how I thought the Grey Warden plotline was great:
First, it was extremely lore-consistent. I donât know how to tell people this, but the Grey Wardens simply are sort of shadyâ itâs part of their charm. In DAO alone we found out they:
- kill anyone who refuses the joining
- are definitely using a blood magic ritual to induct people
- tried to usurp the throne of Fereldan
In DA2 they:
-Forced Malcolm Hawke to perform a blood magic ritual against his will to contain Corypheus, by threatening to kill his family
- Built a giant prison in the mountains they didnât tell anyone about and that someone could wander into and not be able to escape
- the entire Corypheus thing. They didnât even tell the other Wardens like what he was or how dangerous he was.
DAI:
- the demon army thing was pretty bad
And thatâs not even mentioning any stuff from the books or comics or shows! Thatâs just stuff in the games!
So theyre shady. Itâs okay! Theyâre my little woobie guys, idc if theyâre sort of shady!
But the plot in DATV is about all of those previously established issues coming back to bite them in the fucking ass, as they should! Knock knock, itâs the consequences of your actions, baby! The chickens are home to roost
(Which is just good storytelling. Like if you set up a bunch of issues and then never pay them off or anything thatâs bad.)
Destroying Weisshaupt was inspired! Firstly bc Davrin is Weisshaupt, metaphorically (bulwark against the darkness, etc, I already made a post) so it serves his character arc. But also because it strips away the pageantry and the grandeur from them; no more castle for you! No more myth!
Davrin explicitly tells you that the First Warden is a traditionalist; he represents the historical attitudes of the Wardens. They do not accept help, they do not give up their secrets, they are standing alone against the dark. And it doesnât work! Heâs fucking wrong (and very punch-able). Being secretive and isolationist is a mistake that costs them nearly everything.
But also, and Iâm not sure how many people experienced this on the first go-around, the game does ultimately come down on the side of the Wardens always trying to do the right thing. You CAN talk the First Warden down, because in the end heâs a Warden, and he might be stubborn and curmudgeonly and miserable but he CARES about the world. He came to do good. He admits he was wrong and he helps you. Because the heart of the Wardens is about selfless service to other people. In Death, Sacrifice.
Stripping away Weisshaupt and the glory and pageantry leaves the Wardens at their most vulnerable and forces them to return to their fundamental principles: helping people. Thatâs what Lavendel is about. Helping individual people and preserving every life possible even if it doesnât feel that glamorous or heroic. Lavendel isnât a significant place; it doesnât matter, but it matters so much.
And then, the Cauldron.
First off, do not at me about Last Flight. I donât think people should have to read external materials to play this game and understand it. If the information is vital it should be presented to the player in the text.
The Cauldron is the repository of the Wardensâ secrets; itâs where the keep the bones of the Archdemons, the secret to the Joining, ancient and dangerous weapons, as well as the bodies of the griffons, which represents their most shameful errors. Isseya is the avatar of the Wardensâ mistakes; sheâs been hurt by what they made her do, and her pain was never acknowledged by them. They buried her story and her suffering like they bury everything they donât want to deal with and are ashamed of. They left the bones of the griffons, whose deaths they directly caused, to rot because they were too sad to acknowledge them.
But it was wrong to walk away, it was wrong to bury it. Isseya makes sure that they can never do that again, that they have to own what they did and take responsibility. By discovering who she is and by restoring her personhood to her, by reminding her of her love which drove her to her anguish in the first place, Davrin saves her and he saves the griffons. He doesnât do it using violence, because another sin of the Wardens is just assuming that they can kill their way out of their problems, which the game disproves by revealing the origin of the Blight. You can kill as many darkspawn as you want, you will never fix it! The Titansâ dreams do not need to be slain, they need to be healed.
Isseya is in so much pain because of her incredible love for both the griffons and the Wardens, and because of her guilt. Look what she builds! An alternate Weisshaupt, a distorted reflection of her home. She entreats both Davrin and Assan to join her, because she doesnât think sheâs trying to destroy anything. Sheâs trying to save them! She wants them to come home. âI am their mother,â she says, and sheâs right. She saved them, then, and she ends up saving them now! Because she made Davrin and the other Wardens look, unflinchingly, at what they had done, it will never happen again. She was going about it wrong during the game, but she was ALWAYS trying to save them.
Davrin, Antoine and Evka represent the Wardensâ commitment to being different. They let Flynn undergo the Joining without becoming a Warden, they reveal secrets to non-Warden Rook, they offer to help the Viper without asking for anything in return. They ask for help and offer it freely. If the Wardens are going to persist into a world without Archdemons, they HAVE to change. They canât be what they were anymore. The game is asking what a Warden is when they have to be more than their oath, when they have to live. Itâs a great exploration of and expansion on previously established lore.
Anyway, my advice if you hated the plot and the game and the characters is to a) make your own post b) donât bother me about it, because I have the time and I will be loudly positive in response!

Itâs funny how so many of those last reblogs went through so many lengths to add nuance to the actions of their own characters, and did so by denying the possibility of there being any nuanced reasons for people to engage in banditry or to join esoteric religious groups to end the world. âMy character does otherwise morally questionable stuff because theyâre just trying to survive in a hostile worldâ is a very funny way of justifying killing bandits, who could probably say the same thing of their situation. Bringing up Evil Cults is a bit odd too because cults also do exist in the real world some of them have committed acts of terrorism for their beliefs. Cults also harm their own members (often theyâre the people most hurt by them!) and preys on vulnerable populations all the time. However, we donât need to engage with this premise in DnD because in DnD the cults can do magical terrorism, which is totally different and in no way comparable and we donât need to think about it.
Itâs also interesting how people keep trying to justify killing. I know DnD doesnât have a lot of mechanics for non violent conflict resolution but like, killing is not your only option. You could use non lethal damage, you could use the sleep spell, Command enemies to surrender. It doesnât really need to be complicated either. On the first session of my current campaign all it took for my players to be like âmaybe we shouldnât be killing people left and rightâ was for me to say âitâs common knowledge that there are around 300 people alive in your regionâ. Suddenly the idea of killing one person was more difficult to stomach, and they did everything they could to avoid using lethal damage.
But I digress, the original argument was explicitly about not trying to pass lead off as gold. You can enjoy dnd, but but donât pretend that itâs a game about âtrying to survive the status quoâ, most dnd parties arenât attached enough to the status quo to need to survive it. The game is about entering dungeons and killing dragons, embrace it for what it is and not for what it ought to be. If you canât, the ttrpg space is rich in alternatives to try out
@txttletale's recent post about media criticism is really good and it actually spoke to me about something I've been thinking about with regards to D&D.
So okay D&D's whole gameplay doesn't actually frame the player characters in the best possible light. That's okay in my opinion, cause I don't think media needs to be morally correct for me to engage with it. When playing D&D I'll just accept some of the premise and then go with it.
But in recent years I've been seeing a lot of takes about trying to reframe D&D's gameplay through a positive lens. "The average D&D party is a found family trying their best to survive outside the status quo, trying their best to help people, etc." and it kind of rings hollow when what the gameplay still revolves around is grave-robbing, killing acceptable classes of people (under this framing "monsters" get replaced with cultists, bandits, and other folks society has deemed acceptable to kill), and often in the service of the status quo.
Like the framing of a lot of D&D adventures is "the poor village inhabited by good normal people surrounded by evil wilderness is under attack and because the power of authority doesn't extend this far into the wilderness they need your help to save them from the bad people," which is like basically forming a posse of vigilantes to enact frontier justice.
So when people try to put a positive spin on that with like "no we're just real scrappy strangers trying to do a good thing to save the world when society rejects us" it makes me go really?

Lily's meaningless sacrifice
One thing that irks me is when people suggest that in canon, Lily had any idea that Harry would survive (this is merely a canon post, nothing to do with fanfiction). It irks me, partly because it's just incorrect and that's the sort of person I am. More importantly, however, it irks me because Lily not stepping aside when she had nothing to gain from dying is fundamental to the story.
Let's start with JKR own words from an interview in 2005:
MA: Did she know anything about the possible effect of standing in front of Harry? JKR: No - because as I've tried to make clear in the series, it never happened before. No one ever survived before. And no one, therefore, knew that could happen.
Lily knew nothing about the possible effect of standing in front of Harry. Lily was faced with this choice:
Scenario 1: Steps aside, and Harry is killed.
Scenario 2: Be killed, and Harry is killed.
Scenario 1 is (on the surface) objectively better (unless you're a DE and thus want less muggle-borns around). To Voldemort, it's a simple choice: In both scenarios Harry will die, in one, Lily will survive. In fact, this is what makes a lot of people defend Severus' choice to only ask Voldemort to spare Lily. Severus could not save Harry (and apparently it's totally cool not trying to save others if they bullied you).
Lily could not save Harry.
Lily's choice, as far as she is aware, is not whether to save Harry or not, but whether to save herself. And yet, Lily cannot stand aside. As JKR points out earlier in the interview, what Lily did is not that surprising to us readers ("I don't think any mother would stand aside from their child"). Why? Love. Because, as Dumbledore reminds us on multiple occasions: there are worse things than death - most notably in DH:
"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love."
Love, and life with and without love is an undercurrent in the story. Lily's sacrifice is meaningless when made, and yet it's the biggest and most understandable expression of love anyone can show someone else. Lily cannot, and does not want to, live in a world where she has witnessed her son being murdered - especially when her husband has been murdered too. A world without Harry and James is no world for Lily Potter.
It is also - bear with me - not that different from what it was like to be in the Order at that time:
[Y]ou werenât in the Order then, you donât understand, last time we were outnumbered twenty to one by the Death Eaters and they were picking us off one by one...
âHe â he was taking over everywhere!â gasped Pettigrew. âWh â what was there to be gained by refusing him?â
The Order operated against the odds and were being picked off one by one. As Peter asks - what was there to be gained by refusing him? What was there to be gained from standing (metaphorically or not) in front of Voldemort's victims? I've said this before and I'll say it again, Sirius' answer is powerful:
âWhat was there to be gained by fighting the most evil wizard who has ever existed?â said Black, with a terribly fury in his face. âOnly innocent lives, Peter!â âYou donât understand!â whined Pettigrew. âHe would have killed me, Sirius!â âTHEN YOU SHOULDÂ HAVEÂ DIED!â roared Black.
Only innocent lives. They weren't fighting this war because they were winning. In fact they were very much losing. But they were fighting because it was right thing to do. Many Order members chose to die, rather than to step aside and let Voldemort take over. Only in their case it didn't make a difference - or at least, it didn't feel like it at the time. Members were murdered, and Voldemort was just getting stronger and stronger.
What was there to be gained by refusing Voldemort?
I firmly believe this is a theme that is repeated throughout the book: not just love and choice, but the obligation to choose what is right, no matter the odds (the irony that this was written by JKR will never be lost on me), and how love is a powerful motivator to do just that. Doing the right thing might seem hopeless in the moment - wasteful even - but that doesn't mean it's not worth doing, or that in the end, it won't add up.
Imagine what Harry felt like at the end of PS/SS when he risked his life to stop Voldemort, only to realise that Voldemort would keep trying to come back:
âWell, Voldemortâs going to try other ways of coming back, isnât he? I mean, he hasnât gone, has he?â âNo, Harry, he has not. (...) Nevertheless, Harry, while you may only have delayed his return to power, it will merely take someone else who is prepared to fight what seems a losing battle next time â and if he is delayed again, and again, why, he may never return to power.â
Harry Potter isn't about doing the right thing because it will bring you rewards, but because it is the right thing.
âRemember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.â
This speech doesn't sit well with a few people because it sounds like you're asked to remember what happened to someone who did do the right thing (spoiler: he died). But that's not the point, of course. Cedric wasn't killed for doing the right thing or making a hard choice - Dumbledore asks the students to remember Cedric because the enemy is willing to kill innocent people indiscriminately. Standing aside will not be good enough against people like Voldemort. There is, as Dumbledore put it, a need to keep fighting what seems a losing battle. Why? Only innocent lives.
Both James and Lily die that evening because they are unwilling to let Voldemort near their innocent son as long as there is breath in their bodies. James had no choice (this irks me because he did, he could have run away - he could have not fought Voldemort in the Order to being with. They all had a choice, but not the point). Lily had a choice. And she chose, like many had before her, to fight what seemed like a losing battle. She died, not knowing that she had saved her son. Her sacrifice was meaningless - like so many before her - and yet her sacrifice changed the world.
In the end, by choosing to do what was right, she was granted the wish she most desired: Her son lived.

THK's Fadel is such a character of contradictions and curiosities:
He's so casual about the assassination stuff: look at the careless, almost silly way the guns are 'disguised'; the nonchalant way he's carrying himself right before he kills.
But then look at the precision and care he's taking while prepping tomatoes for his cover job. The way he leans down to salt the meat for his burger - he's taking it incredibly seriously.
He takes the time to chide Style about road safety even whilst trying desperately to get away as soon as possible because he literally has murder evidence in his car.
The whole assassin thing is a family business that has "ethical reasons", but is this a cause he has chosen, genuinely, for himself...
...or is it just what he tells himself to make it easier to keep living this life because he knows there's no escape?
Was this a lesson learned in theory from their mother, or from painful experience? Who hurt you, baby boy? Could it be related to the (knife?) wound on his chest (heart)?
For someone who supposedly just wants to get rid of Style, he sure lets Style get close and deliberately gets very handsy with him. Not to mention it was Fadel that sought Style out first after their initial encounter. Was Style's the only auto shop he could go to? I'd assume money isn't actually an issue for them.
I love that the show makes it clear that he loves Bison and is genuinely worried for him. The show sets up Bison to be too trusting but also naive and impulsive (Bringing a loaded gun to karaoke? Really, Bison?), so Fadel's worry and protectiveness may well be warranted. And even then, for all of Fadel's strictness, he gives in to Bison a lot and the way Bison speaks in that whiney pleading tone hints that he knows he's got his older brother wrapped around his finger. He's Katherina, but they're signposting why.
He fascinates me on so many levels and I can't wait to learn more about him. <3

Just want to remind everyone that according to the EC the first time Neil is reduced to full on barely consolable tears and sobs in front of Andrew will be when he gets the phone call saying that Coach Wymack dies.
That's how much Dadmack means to Neil.
When Bee has a health scare, Andrew rushes to her side and los3s his shit at her to take care of her health.
From the EC
DOES NEIL EVER CRY?
Q: Does Neil ever cry? Be it alone or in front of Andrew or possibly Wymack?
A: If you mean for a reason other than the torture Lola & Riko put him through, then yes:
He cries when they get the call: heâs gone, heâs gone, Coach is gone
Itâs almost safer to say âten times out of tenâ. Comfort isnât in Andrewâs vocabulary and as far as heâs considered itâs a waste of time and energy. Heâs more likely to walk away or tell Neil to get over it or look right past whatever existential/psychological crisis Neil is having. Neilâs grumpiness after a loss are brushed aside unimportant, and his aggravation over uncooperative teammates is nothing to pity him for.
But once in a long while Neil will hit a ledge he has to be pulled back from, and thatâs what Andrew does. Like in Baltimore, when Neil is trying to say Do you want me to go, and Andrew catches hold and tells him Stay. This is how Andrew comforts: by being a stabilizing force, an anchor to keep Neil at home, a place to rest his weight and his secrets. Honestly, thatâs what Neil needs.
But if you would really like a moment of genuine âcomfortâ, Andrew-style, then it would be the day Neil gets the call that Wymack is dead. It is the first time Andrew sees Neil cry, and he does not know what to do with this heartbroken grief. So he sits with Neil instead, back-to-back, with a cigarette burning in his hand ((because he has lived with Neilâs cigarette-smoke obsession for far too many years)). He says nothing, but he is a weight and a presence to keep Neil upright.
Bee also has the dubious honor of being the only person Andrew ever yells at.
The year after the events of The Raven King she has what looks like a heart attack at Reddin. Doctors have to give her stints to open up the blockages in her arteries, and Andrew spends the day sitting silent and still at her bedside. This isnât something he can fight off for her; this isnât something he can protect her from. Itâs a lesson in helplessness he wasnât expecting and never wanted. When Bee wakes up from the procedure and Neil asks her how sheâs doing she dopily says she is fine. Mistake.
âYou are not fine and this is not fine and if you ever eat another fucking piece of chocolate again so long as you live I will fucking kill you.â
Needless to say he ransacks both her office and her home and confiscates every scrap of junk food he can get his hands on. He also enlists Abby to write out a food and exercise regimen for Bee. Andrew accompanies Bee to the gym now and then, and he lets her sign him up for a 5K fun run with her."

I have an extremely wild theory about the ending...
So...
PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT ME TO >>>POTENTIALLY<<< SPOIL SOMETHING FROM THE FINALE!!!!
I WARNED YOU!!!
I'm not going into too much details, since I don't have too much time because of my work. đ
So let's start with Ekko:
We already know that the key character of Act 3 is him, whose unique ability is to turn back time. From the previous part, we also know that Jayce has tried to kill Viktor before, but every time so far, he has failed.
I think what Jayce and Ekko are trying to do in ACT 3: comes from the same root, but in very different ways â much like how their characters have always been, with parallels to each other throughout the series from the beginning. (the poster above is also telling)
Weâve also seen countless scenes from Act 3 that were quite significant hints... I havenât pieced all the anchor points together yet, but my theory is that many characters will die in the final ARC â including Ekko, who will most likely make one last attempt to rewind time so the sisters can succeed.
We already have this screenshot from Reed. And It's from s2ep9. Behind Ekko it's some kind of machine, I believe it's a time machine, but not for rewind seconds, but for more... So much more. And they built it with Heimerdinger together.
This environment and this machine also appears in these scenes from the trailers:
Also in the recent teaser Vi says this.
I mean c'mon, It can't be more obvious than this at this point.
Also I noticed something while I rewatched this trailer:
https://youtu.be/Sl-xmZTH6GE?si=rW5vFHJUWm0ECD6p
Parallels and flashbacks were deliberately included. I think those will be the key points for the time travel.
The fate of the characters from a dramaturgical perspective... Well, I think many main character will die, What will make the stakes of the siblings' success even more important.
Yeah... Almost ALL characters except the sisters.
For example:
Caitlyn... I think Caitlyn may not die by Ambessa's hands but there is a possibility. But either way she will die. But one thing for sure: her final act will paves the way for the siblings to succeed. This makes her redemption arc finalized. Ambessa also planted this idea in Caitlyn's mind. Sacrifice . (Maybe the only thing truly worth learning from Ambessa about leadership, though not in the way Ambessa intended it to be understood.)
And for Vi... Yeah, she will watch yet another person she loves and cares about die. The Arcane writers seem to enjoy making her suffer....
Since the story revolves around the two sisters, they will finish the story, as they started.
THE LAST DROP
So the final scene probably will be about the sisters and the final sacrificing. Many say, Jinx don't need a redemption, but I think everyone deserves one in one way or another.
.
.
It has been hinted - or a fact from episode one that Jinx/powder ruins everything. She got her second name because of this. It's her character.
âVi always used to say, I can fix anything... Before I broke everything.â
But why is it like this? What is it based on?
I think the 'last drop' will be foreshadowing of the first season, where she tried to save everyone, but nearly everyone ended up dying.
Why this would be any different?
I think what moslty form Jinx is how many people 'believe' in her.
Jinx and Powder, as appeared in a methaphore in Season 2, Episode 6, symbolize a coin with two sides. Both sides exist within her, but which side prevails depends on the events that unfold.
In Season 1, Episode 3, Vi allowed her heart to be influenced by the protective love she felt, which prevented her from trusting her sister.
That's why I believe that this will not just be Jinx's redemption, and not only will it rewrite her story, but also Viâs. Vi, whose personality is so protective that she often doubts everyone else - (including Caitlyn), will have to learn to let go of this feeling and trust others, even if it means there's a chance her sister might die.
So what's my prediction?
So, if I wasnât clear enough, (since English isnât my native language and there are so many things in my head at all once that I want to express but I don't have time for more đ)
My theory is that the siblings will eventually bring everyone back to life, but it will come at a cost, and I think Jinx will be the one to make that sacrifice.
But her death will not be a sad thing from her perspective, she will be finally free from the burden and suffering she felt, also she will be free from her demons as well.
.
.
As for the fate of the other characters I mentioned here, I canât say for certain. Unfortunately, due to the 10-image limit, I couldnât attach more visuals, but I believe Ambessa will die at the hands of the Black Rose. This is foreshadowed quite well in the intro: first, we see Ambessa crushing the rose, then a petal falls, but we donât actually see her destroy it completely. Later, we see her daughter stepping in to take her place, reaching for the same rose while petals are scattered on the right-hand side, symbolizing Ambessa.
I think this story arc will continue in future *Arcane* series.
As for Sevika, itâs pretty clear that Viktor will transform her after her death and bring her back to life. Thatâs how sheâll end up with another cool new arm. (The new Sevika poster is literally titled âArmed and Ready,â by the way.) Sheâll probably try to incite the Undercity against Piltover again, which is why we see in the trailer that Piltover is fighting Zaunite civilians.
My other theory for Sevika (Or a continuation of the above, perhaps a combination of the two. ) is that Singed will make her a new prosthetic to her... And itâs also possible that through Singed Savika will side with Ambessa.. Since Ambessa is very good at seeing what people need and how to manipulate them, she might offer Zaun's independence in exchange for her help.
From Corin Reveckâs side â He will succeed in bringing his daughter back to life (Orianna), and I think this is no longer in question... After nearly everyone in the series has suffered the consequences of his actions, directly or indirectly... One might hate this character, but he is the perfect example of someone who would do anything, sacrifice everything, and set the whole world on fire (and does) for the love of his daughter. He is fully aware that he has become a monster, but he doesnât care.
From Viktor's perspective... I'm not sure what his story will be. Perhaps the fact that theyâve saved each otherâs lives multiple times with Jayce will become a symbol that ultimately, they will end up taking each otherâs lives together. At some point, there was a possible foreshadowing of this when the creators depicted a "Memento Mori" between the two characters in season 1, when they were at the place where they tried to jump separately. A "Memento Mori" is an optical illusion where the combination of various elements forms the image of a skull, symbolizing death and the transience of life.
Overall, please take all of the above writing as just a theory; many parts may not turn out this way, and in fact, nothing might happen as Iâve suggested. Have fun!
And yes, I know my post turned out quite long despite saying I donât have time, but believe me, if I did have time, it would be about six times longer, with all the references and every thread detailed in full.

I make four Milf Models on the list (and a Fifth on in Shiranui) and then I go and find Six more 'Mature' Gems! Dammit...
Anyways let me introduce the Six new candidates.
1.) Cattleya (Queen's Blade)
Not gonna like, I know noithing besides that she has huge tits, glasses and is a blacksmith with hella muscle... That is more then enough! I would make her son and Jaune friends, and Cattleya is the only woman the Arc trust to forge their weapons and upkeep them. Her son Rana is one of the only people Jaune trust around his sisters.
2.) Kie Kamado (Demon Slayer)
So truth be told, I have not watched Demon Slayer... And this woman and her four dead kids are why! Like THE FUQ!? Jesus man this crap broke my heart, I... I just moved right along to happy anime cuz that shit makes me sad as fuck... So yeah they would live in Ansel, and she would be Juniper's best friend and one of the very few women he can understand the sheer difficulties of raising a small team of children. But worst, because she has to do it alone... Then Grimm attack, and while everyone else is trying to protect their own. Little Jaune rushes to help his best friend Tanjiro and his siblings! Auraless and with only his families sword in hand that he can barely wield the two boys actually manage to kill a Beowulf and proceed to get them to the safety of the Arc House.
3.) Shizu Shinazugawa (Demon Slayer)
DUDE WHAT THE FUCK!!! Seriously this woman somehow had a worst death then Kie! SHE ATE HER KIDS!!! WHAT IN THE FUCKING HELL!!! OH! AND LETS NOT FORGET THAT SHE WAS GETTEN BEATEN BY HER HUSBAND!!! God Dammit, at this point I'm starting to think it's a good thing pig boy was raised by boars. If his mom had been with him instead of abandoning him in thew woods (I assume) she'd probably be dead too! Much less lightening whiney bitch I swear don't give him a tragic backstory too! I do not want to like him... As for shizu, Imma play the Cardin card, and say the two older brothers are bullies in Ansel. Lashing out at others because of their abusive father and of course Jaune is a very ripe target, the envy of the pair because of his kind strong father. Jaune is mad, but after talking to his sisters he decides to invite the boys over to dinner, and try to be friends, after all like his mom says, friends are just strangers you haven't met yet. And besides... Their like him and Tanjiro, he heard they have a lot of siblings too. They should make a club together! It is as little Jaune is having these thoughts that he stumbles upon it... then father beating them, them and their poor mom! And much like with the Ursa Jaune rushes in. And gets beaten within a inch of his life, but doesn't stop, grabbing forks, spoons anything he can get his hands on... Telling them to run, to get his dad. Papa Arc does come forward and what he finds is his son, bloody, beaten barely able to stand, but standing he is, and protecting the poor lady with a broken leg from her evil husband... And then the man is gone, his head taken, the Arc Patriarch not hesitating for even a second.
4.) Ruka Rengoku (Demon Slayer)
'It is the obligation of those born strong to defend the weak. Don't ever forget that..'
That Fucking Line! That Fucking Line Right There Makes Her Hotter Then The Other Two! Oh and what do you know, another piece of shit husband!
Okay, so I get he only turned piece of shit cuz she died bu-NO! You Know what, Fuck that Your Son Died Cuz You Couldn't Step Up And Live Up To Your Wives Words! Fuck You!!! That Drunk Bastard Insulted her memory and made her have to suffer meeting her son FAR TOO EARLY!!!
There is no way this woman doesn't hate her husband from beyond the grave! So here what would happen, Shinjuro would snap earlier then like when his wife is first diagnosed with the disease. At first he tries to stay strong but then begins to drink, then gets pissed when told nothing can be done!
And then in his denial he tries to force them to leave to Atlas, to hopefully find a cure or way to treat her... But Ruka refuses, Ansel needs them, negativity has been on the rise and Grimm have shown up more often. So he begins to drink and rant, and rave and Ruka watches her husband betray both himself and her faith in him.
And then he leaves, taking her with him one night, in desperation kidnapping his own wife against her will, her body far too weak to resist to take her to Atlas forcibly if needed. He uses a favor Papa and Mama Arc owe him to watch his kids while he's gone (Lying and saying he convinced Ruka)
And it is as he was gone that Ansel was attacked, his sons forced to fight, children like them, Jaune, little Tanjiro and the Shinazugawa brothers barely managing to take his place, but not without injury.
When he returns, he isn't met with scorn, nor blame... Not from anyone, except his wife! Ruka will not forgive him, and would rather die alone then married to him... He leaves, bitter angry but knowing she was right. And it was as this was happening that her son brings Jaune to her, the boy noticing several cuts and bruises she'd received from her forceful travels... He reaches out, and uses the power he discovered while the held off the Grimm.
The power that let mere kids like them fight and barely make up the difference her Ex-Husbands absence... His Semblance, Aura Amplification, every doctor had told her her disease wasn't treatable because her body simply lacked the strength to fight it, her immune system was too too compromised and her body too fragile by that point to maintain.
But Jaune's power, it's strength was one of a nature to empower others, to share with them his strength, his vigor, his will and soul, and Jaune wouldn't stop sharing his strength until it was enough to save her!
It was the logic of a simply youth, if he could kill monsters as big as Grimm, he refused to let small ones so tiny and weak take one of his friends moms! The same woman who told him he could be a huntsman! No! That said it was his duty to be one! Well What Kinda Huntsman Couldn't Save a mother!
5.) Rinko Iori (Gundam... Apparently -///-)
I...I did not know she was from a anime... I firmly thought she was a hentai mom... But no, apparently she is from Gundam. Well, I think I've said enough and these pictures hopefully speak for themselves...
I'd say she is a Argus mom, and helped Saphron and Terra navigate raising their first kid.
6.) Mirelia Q Melromarc
She Is A Queen! (Literally!) but no... Like seriously she is best girl, she showed up and everything, oh everything just turned pure euphoria for me. And God Damn She hated her husband! I wish they went more in on how thoroughly pissed she was in the anime like they did in the light novel.
Seriously a fucked up daughter and husband... just... Fuck man, and seriously FUCK BITCH For What She did! (If you read the Web Novel you know what I'm talking about) And fuck Trash too! Y'know it was so he could have a redemption Arc.
Fuck that, as far as I'm concerned those two need death like I need air. Naofumi is her (Only) daughter's fiancÊe. Which means she's in need of a new consort, a noble, strong, kind one who has a sharp wit.

I first bought Dragon Age: Origins about two days after release, and I was instantly hooked. I played it six times back-to-back, just to experience every origin story. After that, I kept replaying to see every possible decision and its impact. Honestly I am not sure how many times I finished origins as it was over several platforms and accounts⌠but it is a LOT.
DA2 came out while I was in hospital (severe manic episode and psychosis) but as soon as I got home, I dove into it. Iâve written before on my main about how much I related to Anders, partially because of the timing, but honestly, I adore everything about DA2.
I have since finished DA2 NINETEEN TIMES! Honestly I love Kirkwall so much⌠I love everything about the tragedy that was Hawkes live. The tragedy of Hawkeâs life, the way no amount of effort or care could fix the deeply ingrained, systemic issuesâitâs gut-wrenching and perfect.
Fifthteen years later there are aspects of that game I still onbsess over, the enigma of Kirkwall for example⌠I had so many theories, none of which are likely to ever be addressed nowâŚ
Yes, the game had issues. All games do. Some of the writing was shallow in places; occasionally a companion says or does something that feels a little out of character. Anders and Fenris were treated like narrative mouthpieces at points. Avelineâs character development is a little questionable, and, of course, the copy-paste environments were rough. But for me, the positivesâthe depth of the narrative, the snippets of lore and background, the things I lovedâovershadowed the negatives.
Do you know how shitty it is to know that all my left in the fade Hawkes just don't matter? Which ye I guess in some ways is fitting for the guy who accomplished nothing, who couldnât even actually kill Meredith or Corypheus, for their final sacrifice to mean nothing⌠but stillâŚ
Then there was Inquisition. Once again I gain it on the day of release, I may have even pre-ordered it I can't rememeber⌠Anyway, Iâll admit I wasnât sold on it at first. It felt too much like a âhero narrativeââwhich is hard to explain, but I couldnât connect with it initially. The companions didnât grab me right away either. But over time, I warmed to it, and now Iâve played it six (almost seven) times, obsessively picking up every bit of lore.
same with the books⌠the comics⌠that game in the keep that I forget the name of⌠I've even played the table top game and DMed it
And now we have veilguard...
I was so excited to go to Tevinter in game. Tevinter has fascinated by for so long.
And I⌠I cannot even put into words just how disappointed I am in veilguardâŚ
I donât want to be âthat guyâ who just tears it apartâplenty of people have already done the analysis, pointed out the retcons, and broken down how much lore feels ignored.
But I need to vent somewhere, and none of my IRL friends care.
In essence, the game feels sanitised...
But here is the crux of my issue, or at least the disturbing part:
I have zero desire to replay veilguardâŚ

Iâm about to start fist fighting mfs in the mouthwashing fandom because everyone likes to give me shit when I say âCurly shouldâve thrown Jimmy in the cryopod when he learned about what he was doing to Anyaâ BUT NOBODY HAS GIVEN ME A VALID REASON AS TO WHY HE COULDNâT HAVE
âtHeY nEeD a cO-piLoTâ THEY HAD AN AUTOPILOT!!! One that seemingly worked pretty well too until SOMEBODY got his hands on it. Also you mean to tell me they had a gun on the ship in case of âunrest among crew membersâ but absolutely NO backup plan in case something happened to the co pilot?? I find that outrageously hard to believe.
âWhY WoUlD tHeY giVE tHe oNLy sUrviVAL pOd To a RaPiSt?â Iâm going to spit in your face. Iâve heard this argument so many times it has actually killed my brain cells. So in case this wasnât 100% clear for whatever reason my suggestion is that they would do this course of action *before* he crashed the ship when there were still (correct me if Iâm wrong with this number cause I donât remember the exact details) THREE working pods, not one. Ideally, Curly wouldâve done this as soon as Anya told him about the abuse but the second best time in my opinion wouldâve been when Jimmy went on the whole âkill everyone, leave us as martyrsâ rant. I donât give a single fuck what any of you dense motherfuckers say to me ever if MY FRIEND approached me and threatened not only my life but the lives of every single one of my coworkers Iâd charge tackle his ass into the pod myself, or at least bribe Swansea to do it.
âtHeY wOuLdnâT gEt pAiD fOr tHe JoB bEcAuSE OF ThE uNNeCeSSArY pOd UsAgEâ First of all, fuck you. Genuinely. Second of all, THEYâRE ALL FIRED!!! NO MATTER WHAT!!! INDUSTRY WENT BYE BYE!!! For all intents and purposes, that paycheck wouldâve been the filler between this venture and the next. Would losing that be absolutely devastating for some of the people involved? Itâs very possible. I donât know their individual financial statuses and Iâm not gonna stand here and argue âthey all wouldâve been completely fine without the moneyâ. But you know whatâs even more devastating than losing your financial safety net? LOSING YOUR GODDAMN LIVES!!! Also in general if youâre prioritizing your own financial interests over the health and wellbeing of the people around you, you are scum arguing for scummy shit and I reiterate my earlier âFuck youâ with an additional âgo to hellâ just for emphasis. I donât think a lot of people are making this argument because Iâm literally sourcing it from a few randos on tik tok but goddamn if your views align with these particular tik tok randos please for the love of god just block me cause I despise you and everything you stand for.
And like the thing I really want to get across with this entire rant is that I donât think Curly specifically was an awful person for not taking the absolute most drastic measures every single time Jimmy said some fucked up bullshit. But Iâm so so SO over the trend of people acting like he was perfect and there was absolutely nothing he couldâve said or done because Jimmy is this master manipulator who was pulling the strings the entire time cause I also think thatâs also total bullshit. I think there were a lot of opportunities to recognize the red flags and I am so fucking tired of this fandom acting like he couldnât have done something- LITERALLY ANYTHING to help.

How I feel about this character
for a loooooong while i simply liked him because of Jean, because he was basically a pretty vase i could fill up with whatever flowers of personality i felt like. now with the TSC trilogy, haha! he's got a little sour taste and i can't say i'm mad about it! he intrigues me SO MUCH. also i don't trust him :)
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Jean - Kevin - Jean & Kevin - Neil - Andrew - Neil & Andrew - Aaron - Jean & Aaron - Kevin/Neil/Andrew/Jean - Stuart - now that's enough
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Andrew đ
My unpopular opinion about this character
i don't! trust! him! not rn. not with Jean in the balance. and i will gladly eat my words when he is proven innocent-ish, i will, i promise, but for now i am keeping a respectful distance. i'm really scared, tbh. and he could have killed someone, and it wouldn't matter to me. it's how he handles things... the situation with Lucas? he's the Cap, he's supposed to be better, no? maybe i have to high a standard thanks too Danielle Leigh Wilds, but i still have that pill stuck in my throat. idk i was not impressed. for both the Trojans' and Jean's sake, he's gotta be more observant, available and rigorous. imo. nobody kill me...
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
god so many possibilities... i know it's not going to happen, i know it doesn't line up, but if Seth could somehow have been his brother... it would hurt so good

Dilf!Billy Loomis x AFAB reader (Stepcest)
I honestly think Billy would be hella single as a grown ass man but for this one let's imagine he's maintaining a shallow relationship to get away with another killing :p
Warnings: Stepcest, predetermined family, fingering, teasing, p in v, roughness, infidelity, unprotected sex, dirty talk, daddy kink, slight degradation, mentions of Stu, age gap (middle aged Billy and reader in their 20s,) AFAB reader (no pronouns,) unedited
Your mother had never been shy with her love life. She's had multiple partners after your dad passed away. Random hookups with attractive older men happened pretty often too. You're sure it's all been to fill the void and drown the unwanted emotions.
You've never really had the best relationship with her, you bud heads a lot and have grown distant since your biological dad passed, not to mention the countless arguments about every little inconvenience.
For that reason and many others you haven't been secretive about the attraction towards your step father, Billy Loomis. You don't care if he actually loves her or not. You'll let any selfish thoughts cross your mind and oh boy, you want that man inside you as soon as possible.
He's been living with you and your mother for 2 years and as time went by it got more difficult to contain yourself around him, especially since he openly flirts with you and you swear that one of these days you're going to jump on his cock the second you find a chance.
One particular day your mother left for the weekend on a business trip. You were more than sure that she'd been cheating on Billy with his best friend, Stu Macher. They've worked together for years and it's so obvious that they've got something going on.
To be completely honest, you wouldn't mind having Stu as your next step father. He's just as hot as Billy and you never miss the way that he checks you out whenever you're around him. Gosh, if you could have both of them at the same time you know you'd cum the second they both lay hands on you.
Being alone with Billy for the weekend was going to be difficult. You haven't hooked up with anyone in so long and touching yourself isn't satisfying anymore. The way he shamelessly walks around shirtless with sweatpants that highlight his cock drives you crazy and you don't know how you'll survive around him.
Because of that you were feeling bold. You wanted to risk it all, and you did.
It was a Saturday morning and you wake up ready to take the day off to relax after a long week. After you brushed your teeth and showered, you went to the kitchen in just a thong, a thin cotton crop and knee high socks. You knew Billy would walk in the kitchen any second after hearing the water turn off in the shower and were ready to pounce at any moment.
"Well good morning to you too." The sound of his deep voice instantly sent shivers down your spine.
Billy was standing against the countertop behind you shamelessly looking at your exposed ass and gorgeous legs. His hair was damp from the shower and slicked back. No shirt on. Grey sweatpants. He was out to hunt and you were his easy prey.
Turning around, you smiled innocently at him and pointed at the stove, "You want pancakes? I'm making myself some."
Billy could see right through you and he wasn't playing your games.
At your question he chuckled and walked towards you. His hands instantly found your waist and his eyes captured yours, "I'm hungry for something else," he said and squeezed your flesh slightly, his eyes lingering on your tits before scanning your face.
He was driving you mad. You couldn't help but bite your lower lip to suppress a pathetic moan that threatened to come out of you.
Billy seemed to notice and smirked at your reaction, "I don't think your mother would like knowing you're walking around the house looking like that while I'm here," he said and it was your turn to chuckle at his nonchalant comment.
"I don't think she'd like to see her husband grab me like he is right now but here we are," you answered and he lost it.
Billy ran his hands down and under your ass cheeks before picking you up. He sat you on the counter and positioned himself between your legs. His large hands rested on your thighs and he occasionally squeezed them.
"Don't use that tone with me," he said half serious and you laughed teasingly as his words.
"Why? Is daddy gonna ground me? Hm?" you teased further and Billy grabbed your face with his right hand under your jaw, making you look into his eyes. You smirked at him and that was enough, the man crashed his lips against yours and kissed you hungrily.
You were desperate. Both of you were. Your hands were tangled in his hair and he was holding you impossibly close to his body. He groped your ass as you rocked against him slowly.
He was hard and needy before, but having you like this was going to make him cum right then and there if he wasn't careful.
Billy slid one of his hands from your ass to your hip, down your inner thigh and finally over your core. He felt the wetness through the fabric of your thong and he gasped at you mockingly, "I've barely touched you and you're already soaked," he said and you whined softly. So desperate to feel him inside you. Your body ached for his cock.
The man couldn't contain himself much longer. He was already pulling your panties to the side and playing with your cunt. Rubbing your sensitive bud in circular motions and running his fingers down to your throbbing hole, dipping them just enough to pleasure you but not enough to satisfy the craving. He was torturing you. Torturing himself.
"Mm... Billy please," you moaned and grabbed his big hand, pushing his fingers all the way inside you and whining at the feeling of finally being filled up. It still wasn't enough but fuck did it feel amazing when he started to fuck you with his fingers.
You throbbed around him and he groaned at the feeling.
"Fuck baby, you feel so good... I bet you'll feel better around my dick," he whispered in your ear as you fucked yourself with his fingers.
You grabbed his cock and felt how big he is. Gosh you were so right when you imagined him as you rode your dildo in your room alone at night.
"Mmphh... Please fuck me," you begged and Billy pulled his fingers out of your cunt, sucking on them teasingly and moaning at your taste.
He pulled you towards him by your thighs and you wrapped your arms around his neck instinctively. He held your legs around his middle and carried you to his and your mother's bedroom.
After he released you, you crawled on the bed and positioned yourself on the edge on all fours, giving him a perfect view of your behind. You slowly removed your thong for him and revealed your glistening cunt.
Billy groaned at the sight and pulled his sweatpants down just enough to release his throbbing cock. He wanted to eat you up and taste your whole body but right then he couldn't handle the sight of your waiting hole. He'd been wanting to bury himself inside you for so long, and when he finally did you both moaned at the same time.
He didn't bother to wear protection and you honestly didn't give a fuck at that point. You didn't care if your stepfather knocked you up, as fucked up as it sounds.
"Ahh fuck... Harder Daddy, harder!" You nearly screamed, and to that he complied.
Billy grabbed your hips harshly and pounded you hard enough that you felt his cock all the way up your stomach. He pressed your head against the mattress, your back arched perfectly for him and the sight of your ass cheeks bouncing against him was nearly enough to make him cum inside you, but he was smarter than that of course.
"Getting fucked by your stepfather, who does that?" He shamed you and it made you throb around him. You were nearly going to cum just by hearing his words, it was a chase for release between the two of you.
After a few more thrusts the knot inside you finally broke as his tip brushed against your gspot. You came around him and screamed at the feeling of the intense waves that were coursing through your body. You had one, two, three mini orgasms after the big O and fuck you needed more.
Billy nearly bust his load inside your sweet pussy, but he managed to pull out and cum all over your back. He took a mental picture at how good your body looked covered in his seed.
"I'll clean up the mess for you," he whispered teasingly before giving you a lingering kiss.
As he walked into the bathroom you heard the front door open. Your mom and Stus voice echoed in the living room.
Fuck.
"I'll take care of it..."

What does Norway think of the us
Far too many things for me to begin to cover in a tumblr post.
Suffice to say: we arguably owe our welfare and current standing in the world and inarguably our liberty as a nation to the US. This has shaped our domestic and foreign policies for the past 80 years, and we are currently breathing into a paper bag about the fact that Uncle Sam is talking about breaking up with us.
Also beware, there are matters in this post which are a matter of political opinion (rare for this blog, I know), and there are nightmareishly long paragraphs in here, so read at own risk and sorry about the long paragraphs.
Readmore for length and in case I need to make edits.
Norway, the war, and the Marshall Help
Imagine: your country is invaded by Nazis in 1940, and remains occupied for five years. When you are liberated, your country's gold reserve is depleted, many places bombed, and the entirety of Northern Norway is so badly ravaged that the population is evacuated and the region deemed uninhabitable (you'll notice, today, the architecture up north is new. All of it.). To say nothing of the human toll: one third of our Jewish population was slaughtered in Auschwitz, the country is littered in war memorials and tombstones of men shot or otherwise killed by Germans, and every family has at least one wartime story.
(I will take a note to say that it's our own occupation that comes to mind when I see the war and genocide happening in Ukraine. The differences are many, but the shared horror of an invasion, the fact that this happens on European mainland and is perpetrated by a country we share a border with, makes it feel extremely close. More, if Ukraine loses... I'll get into that further below, but suffice to say "Norway's defense budget" these days is labelled "Ukraine aid")
What are you going to do when peace comes, and the time to rebuild is upon you? Well, it so happens the rest of Europe is asking itself that same question, and the United States meanwhile sees an opportunity to both help its allies, strengthen our bonds so that we'll be on the same side for the foreseeable future, and weaken the communist sympathies in Europe. It's a win-win type of deal, and so the Marshall aid is launched: billions of dollars ($13 billion then, $178 adjusted for inflation) are poured into Europe, bolstering the post-war economy and allowing the countries which accepted (all of Western Europe, save Spain and Finland. Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union declined as well.) to get back to their feet much sooner.
It's in this context that Norway's government's plans of a welfare society were possible to realize. Perhaps we would have managed it anyway, but the historically recorded fact is we did it with the help of the USA.
Then there's NATO, that beautiful response to not only the Eastern threat, but to the naivety that had reigned prior to World War II. Hitler had... helped himself... to increasing chunks of Europe, and country leaders kept saying "Well I don't want war, and I'm sure he'll be satisfied after that. Oh no, he invaded Poland?! Oh well I'm sure he'll be satisfied with- oh no, he's entered France!"
NATO means "Invade one, you fight us all", and while it may have come to mean "one invades Afghanistan, so now I guess we're all going" and even "boy Ukraine is having it rough huh. But we can't do anything without getting NATO involved, and that'll launch a new world war :/", and de facto "if NATO ever acts against Russia that will be world war three. Hang on, what's NATO for then?", NATO at its core still means "I am in NATO, so Uncle Sam will protect me. :)"
Which makes countries like Norway feel very safe. And, I cannot overemphasize, is why we've felt safe for the past 70+ years.
Which brings us to the next section.
That border. That border!!
If you look at a map of Norway, you'll see a long and happy border to Sweden. There has been much discourse (and war, war, war) over that border, I for one still think it would be nice if they gave us back Bohuslän, but overall we are very close and good allies.
Look a little further up, however. Yes, past the border to Finland.
Is that...
Oh no, it's Russia!
This hasn't always been an oh no. We lived peacefully side by side frankly always, and the Soviets liberated Finnmark from the Nazis which was wonderful of them. Then Norway accepted the Marshall Aid, however, and while our governing party had had strong communist sympathies prior to the war (and after...) this cemented our ties to the United States. Our side in the Cold War had been chosen.
Border relations with Russia have been good, they have had to be good, but NATO was our safety and security during a very tense period of time. (This comedy skit is very funny but... kind of true... as does the entire Whaledimir debacle (adorable whale charmed the country, but was Whaledimir a Russian spy? Somehow, the answer appears to be yes.) The Russo-Ukrainian war has made relations historically bad, however. (Norwegian news article on the topic, if you feel like translating.)
Where am I going with this?
Norway has a shared border with Russia. Norway would not be capable of defending Finnmark if Russia invaded from the shared border, and having Sweden and Finland join NATO makes us feel better but the defense strategy has still been (and remains) "we defend what we can until US reinforcements arrive". One of the sexiest things the US has done this year was send a massive war ship sailing into our waters, just to say hello and show off their presence. MUCH APPRECIATED.
And, again, this might seem very remote and like the plot of a bad political thriller to the cursory anon and even to many Norwegians, but we were invaded in the last century, we have a shared border, a strategically important coastline and a lot of natural resources (oil!), and should Ukraine (god forbid) lose the war, the question will be this: what does Russia do next? What, specifically, does NATO and the US do if Putin for instance decides to take Svalbard? Is anyone risking nuclear war over Svalbard? What about Finmark? What about cyber attacks, underwater cable att- oh wait there were two underwater cables cut open yesterday.
Gee, that's not worrying at all.
In summation
America is a very important trade partner, and the cultural and political influence you have on us (on all of Europe, really) is immense. I imagine most asked would focus on that, especially on Norway's thoughts on the election, but you asked me and so you get my answer. Your election was a sports match to us (or at least covered by media and social media like one).
I will say this: Trump's first victory had us worried, and we have spent more on defense since then, but his second victory proves the first was not a fluke and the United States is shifting away from us. This is not something we can influence, as it is the will of the American people (or at the very least what they voted for), what we must do is adapt. I, a lifelong opponent to Norway joining the European Union, now see no other way if Norway is to prosper (though the EU also needs a major makeover to survive now, on our own without the US we are all shaking in our knees here in Europe). Likewise, to paraphrase a very good op-ed, Norway's national security neither can depend on a few undecided voters in Wisconsin who aren't thinking about Europe or Norway at all, nor should it.
We have been too dependent on the United States, this has been mutually beneficial and if it was up to us, this wouldn't change (I am now ignoring a faction on the far left which has been saying "Guys, I have a great idea: we should leave NATO :)" and another faction on the far right which is so eager to please Trump-senpai they think Norway is supporting Ukraine's effort because we're stupid), sadly it seems the US wants it to change.
We shall see what happens.

I'm rereading a diary entry I wrote a few years ago and it reminded me of Charles Rowland. Since it's pretty lengthy I'll only pull out the parts I think are relevant to his character.
"When I was a kid I assumed there was something so inherently wrong with me, so unlovable that no one would ever want to be my friend."
I was never physically abused when I was a child but my dad came very close to hitting me on several occasions and my mom, my primary caretaker was verbally abusive. So I grew up in a home with two parents who were incapable of loving me unconditionally. Just like Charles I never felt like I measured up to the impossible standards my mom set for me. Because of that, I assumed there must be something wrong with me, fundamentally, that made people incapable of ever loving me.
"I'd like to think I'm confident and self-assured but really I'm desperate for people to like me. To be accepted for who I am. Because for so long I thought that wasn't possible."
Before and even after meeting Edwin, Charles constantly tries his best to charm everyone he meets. Growing up with a dad who beat him he had hoped that by living up to his father's impossible standards he would be beaten less. But, as Charles says at the end of episode 4 it didn't matter how good he was, his father would still find a reason to beat him.
"I was a different person back then but the pain still lingers. Back then I was small and defenseless. I was a child but trauma has a way of sticking to the wounds I thought had healed. It turns out the scares were actually scabs and I'm bleeding all over again."
In episode 5 Charles is forced to confront the kids he thought were his friends, who betrayed him and ultimately killed him. He desperately wants to believe in Brad and Hunter just like he believed in his friends. But by acknowledging that they were not good guys starts him on a journey to healing some of the trauma that still lingers from when he was alive.
"But I let 6 fucked up people fuck me up. I let them in and they stabbed me in the back. I'd forgotten what that felt like. And I should've known better than to befriend them" (author's note I didn't mean this literally unlike Charles Rowland who doesn't technically get stabbed but they threw rocks at him as he was freezing in a lake which is almost the same thing)
I think this is why it hurts so much more for Charles to realize Brad and Hunter were truly evil. It must have felt like he was being betrayed a second time and after having to literally relive the moment his friends turned their backs on him in the previous episode it must have felt that much more palpable.
"I'm not a vengeful person. But I'm hurt. And a part of me wants to hurt them back."
At the end of episode 4 when Charles beats the Night Nurse we as the audience know his actions are justified. Afterall, she literally made him relive the moments before his death that he hasn't fully processed in 35 years. We know this but Edwin, Crystal, and Niko don't know this. They see a boy with anger issues and as someone who's been unfairly villainized by people who he thought he could trust oooof I can see why he ends up crying and confessing to his best mate that his dad beat him. I was bullied a lot as a kid and this show captures how awful and isolating that feels. Bullying isn't brushed aside because two of its main characters literally lose their lives to their tormentors.
"I'm a good person. I have many passions. I'm friendly, genuine, and honest. And yet people love to assume the worst in me. That I must be too good to be true. That it's all an act."
A big part of Charles' journey throughout season one is him coming to terms with who he is and how he presents himself to the world. I think one of his biggest, if not his biggest fear, is that if he weren't his usual charming self that no one would like him. But we know this is fundamentally not true because even when Charles was at his absolute lowest point (when he was literally freezing to death in an attic) he befriends another boy who also assumes he's unlikeable.
And that is why I love Dead Boy Detectives because it shows us that no matter what everyone is worthy of love, but most especially those who are told they aren't. Just like Charles finds the unconditional love and acceptance he never had when he was alive in Edwin and Crystal, I know I have it with my best friend and family. At it's core this show proves time and time again that we're never alone, even at our lowest when we feel abandoned, there is always at least one person who will gladly guide us back towards the light.
I know this is super long and wordy (the art history nerd in me sucks at being concise) but I had a lot of thoughts, particularly about episode 5, after the cameo I requested and I really wanted to share them. I do not expect George or Jayden to ever see this but I wanted to thank them profusely for being part of a show that has brought me so much joy and community that I really needed this year.
#i wasn't planning on writing a literal essay in response to the cameo#but I just had so many thoughts and I had to share them all#gameoden#dbda#dead boy detectives#save dead boy detectives#charles rowland#this is why I cosplayed charles for halloween#bullying#trauma#bad parents

I couldnât really sleep much because somehow the feeling I felt after the break up of how badly queer men were represented just resonated again in my mind. Like I really wish I could see where things went wrong in the writers room, because as much as Buddies like to say Lou let Tommy fans on with the backstory, thatâs not really true when the story revolving Tommy made its way on screen. The general audience saw enough of his story and his character to be angry too. And I know this weighted feeling probably came from that reply I sent about realizing they were focused on Buckâs bi rep, that the writerâs probably didnât realize Tommy was now rep too.
Iâm just upset having to see the older gay character be off alone in the world again, especially after coming so close to building a home he was comfortable in. Iâm tired of seeing worse characters getting better endings.
Part of me wonders if Buckâs journey really is meant to be a revolving door of love interests until the lights close on that stage, and if that were the case I hope theyâre at the very least more mindful of how they use their rep when the love interest is a guy again, but another part of me just wishes they were like Marisol at best (donât even give them a last name) that way hopefully everyone can recognize itâs not serious and the harassment towards the actors are kept minimal (thatâs a big hopefully I donât think I have to worry about BTs doing this, but we can once again be scapegoats for the loud majority).
Thereâs just so much wrong still, like the way they refuse for Buck to call himself bisexual given the many chances to do so, and Maddieâs questionable dialogue.
If they want to do some good for the community within the show, Iâd say let Josh finally have another much happier storyline that ends in him being happy, but I know if we wish for that thereâs a possibility the writers would kill two birds with one stone and set Tommy and Josh together, and any other day Iâd be happy for that, but Iâve been here long enough to know thatâs originally what some Buddies wanted and I honestly do not want them to get what they want again. The damage has been done, so just keep Tommy out narratively. If Buck is meant to stay on this cycle until the end, at the very least make Josh happy.
EDIT: actually Iâm not done with this. I hate it too that Iâve never seen Bucktommy and Buddie as competition, not because of canon, but because thatâs just normal, but one thing I did see over the summer hiatus is all the homophobia that came from that side. I hate that âonly the gross gay men like Tommyâ is a statement that has stuck with me because of one of them, and I hate that even without the competition aspect I still felt like they won. Bad behavior really did get rewarded.

Duedephelon offered a bow. "That will be easily manageable, thank you" Considering the possibility of sparring with someone actually trained in Heaven's current military strategies was going to be a wonderful learning experience- as was the possibility that he would learn how to defend against the one thing that could reliably kill his kind. Given the Ars Goetia descended from the original host that fell with Lucifer, he wondered how many of his own strengths and weaknesses he shared with the fallen angel.
Then there was the concern of meeting the Crown Princess herself. He would have to be presentable and brush up on proper protocol. Was a gift in thanks for the hospitality in order? Would that seem presumptive or too ingratiating? What could he offer that the next in line to Hell itself didn't already have? And what of Vaggie herself? Surely he could find something for the person who would be his inroad to all this as well. He would have to get to work.
At that point he realized he was blankly staring into the distance as if there was a particularly fascinating speck on the wall. He shook his head. "Forgive me. I was lost in thought. Friday- four-thirty. I shall see you then."
Vaggie hummed thoughtfully. She hated the thought of waiting on a time to be arranged and started to quickly think of their schedules. Charlie had a couple meetings arranged with her dad but those were on Tuesday and Thursday, which left Friday completely open for Charlie. Vaggie herself just had the standard things she did around the hotel and she usually wrapped up by four on Fridays...and she wouldn't mind a good sparring match to start her weekend.
"How about Friday at four-thirty? We're technically open much later but usually around four, we start wrapping up the daily routines and all that. So four-thirty would be late enough that we won't be busy but early enough that it won't interfere with our evenings."
