ABOUT ME

Hi there! I'm @hybeana! I'm a disabled artist that could really use some help!

Without disclosing too much specific personal information: my disability is mild-to-moderate depending on the day, which means I struggle with IADLs such as grocery shopping, cooking, driving, and cleaning. I also sometimes (but not always!) struggle with walking due to pain. I also deal with regular sensory issues that make daily living a struggle in general. As you can imagine, this prevents me from working most jobs.

I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis a year or two ago. (That's doctor speak for "heel pain we don't know how to fix.") I am an ambulatory cane user. I'm very certain that I also have an unknown autoimmune disorder, long covid, or god forbid both. I cannot afford to see a doctor. I also need to save money for an autism diagnosis. My autism often prevents me from working due to sensory issues, and a diagnosis ensures that I am fully accommodated. Although, I am unsure if I will ever be able to work a full 9 to 5. My long-term goal is disability payments.

No matter any of that, I still need to keep up with rent. My partner gets income to cover most of it, but they are in school and cannot work full-time. We need to earn about $300 USD minimum more than what they currently make per month to stay in our current apartment until December/January when our lease ends. And that's not even including utilities!

We have basic groceries and most of our rent covered, but feeding 2 adults and 1 cat can be a struggle. My cat is old and requires some supplements that are a little expensive to stay happy and healthy.

You can support me and my family by commissioning some artwork from me! I mainly do digital artwork, but I can also do traditional. Since I get so few commissions in general, I have recently upped my prices. Even a small commission is better than nothing!

This is a piece I did for my bestie @spearohero of her character Cecelia! The lineart is rough, but unfocused. If there is color, it is extremely minimal (if at all). I clean it up a little bit at the end so that it isn't a complete mess.

This is another one of my OCs, Xenarthron! The style here is rough, not as focused lineart with no/minimal shading. I mostly do these for myself for fun, so I don't spend as much time and energy on them as smooth lineart and shading.

i’ve had health problems that are making it very difficult for me to work and function outside of my home, which just isn’t viable with how expensive necessities are. so while i’m in this limbo, i’m opening up commissions! reblogs are greatly appreciated :]

- first come first serve, i will keep in contact with you throughout the process and start the sketch asap. for higher levels of detail it may take me over a month to finish the illustration, but for lower levels it should only be a few weeks unless something comes up.

- while this is over dms for the moment, i’m going to make a proper form to fill out! reference photos are greatly appreciated for ocs, but detailed descriptions work too! i would also prefer if you provided a short personality description, and any ideas you have for poses or character interactions. i want it to be as close to what you envision as possible! if you want the drawing to be set at a specific time, or a specific aspect ratio for the image, let me know that too! busts cut off at the mid-chest, and half-bodies are cut off at the mid-thigh. i can also make icons (head-shot only) for a discount! also extra characters for sketch commissions are at a discount!

- payment comes after you’re happy with the composition! i’ll block out the characters and where they’ll be on the canvas before moving on to the full detailed sketch.

Hey all, need to get some more money this month for rent and loans. My next paycheck is going to come too late, so I need at least $400 to make it to next month. My commissions are open as ever, and I am still offering the 2 for 1 deal, where you can request a commission of equal or lesser value to go along with the first at no edition cost.

A brief rundown of my prices: All pieces start with a line art cost, and color , shading/effects, and lineless options are add-on costs. Head/Busts start at $20, Half Body at $40 and Full Body at $60. Backgrounds start at $20 as either their own piece or an add-on. There are multiple character options, just 2 character commission sheets are up at the moment, but I am willing to workshop a pricing scale for multiple characters in one piece if so requested.

I am also going to be opening up a commission slot for animation, just gifs at first, but I will expand that to animatics and full videos later.

I do original character/work and fanart commissions! I am currently quite fond of doing Psychonauts, Code Lyoko, Gravity Falls, FNAF, and Hollow Knight fanart, and many, many more.

Here's some examples of how sizing applies!

So a head-up piece with flat shading and clean lines goes for $60, but you could also order a fully shaded, full body piece with clean line-work for $125. It all depends on you!

Now for some extras!

Backgrounds:

Simple (A pattern or gradient of your liking.) Free of charge!

Furniture/Props (Your character is sitting on something! So cool.) +$10

Complex- (A scene, setting or location) $10-40

There is a discount for adding extra characters!

Two Extra Characters: 10% Discount off of total price. Three Extra Characters: 15% Discount off of Total price. Five or more: 40% Discount off of total price!

So let's say you want a piece of five ocs, friends, what say you. All of them are fully shaded, waist up with clean lines and a full, complex background.

That's $110 x 5 for the characters + $40 for the background = $590, But at forty percent off, you save nearly $240. Woah.

And that's not all...

Repeat customers also get a discount!!!

*Those who have commissioned me twice can get $15 off on one commission of their choice. Four commission orders from them will get them $20 off on one commission of their choice. Ten will get them $30 off on one commission of their choice.

*People who have ordered ten or more commissions will be considered legacy customers who will always get $35 off on their commissions <3

To consider:

The more detail, the more references needed for extra accuracy! (I would prefer you send me any specifics you'd like, rather than go to google and risk getting things wrong.)

No rushing, please! I will give your order all my time and attention! I will give you updates and estimates on how long it will take to finish.

Pay is upfront, with sketches and screenshots sent to you for progress updates.

(Sketches are not guaranteed to look like the final product, since I usually refine as I go. Please specify if you want them to look just like the sketch!)

Complex clothing or armor may take more time, but only because I want you to get what you paid for lol.

Lastly, pricing for comics and reference sheets will be different to that of a normal illustration- it depends on the number of panels, the complexity, the amount of characters, and their backgrounds... Which can't be charged the same in good faith.

Due to this, it's better if you just ask me what you would like to have done! I'll be sure to find a reasonable price, comics are cool and I want you to have one.

▪️ Please please provide as detailed of a description of the drawing you want. Reference photos are highly encouraged, especially if you're asking for an OC. I will update the examples here at some point, since these are unshaded (and you can request that!). I know I can do this sort of shading well, but I just can't seem to find a recent example, and the examples I try and create specifically for these sorts of things always seem to come out missing something :/

The big boys! I know it's a big price jump, but these fellas generally take in the ballpark of 20+ hours over several weeks. The others can usually be done within 1–8 hours over at most few days.

Starting at $200 for one character against a simple background

"Simple background" can range from a single solid color to some fun overlapping colored shapes. A messy scenery is a bit of a grey zone.

A "complex background" is generally a full environment and/or detailed extra objects meant to fill negative space and add to the meaning of the piece. Lighting can also contribute to complexity.

We will talk through the details and agree on a price based on estimated time to completion, research required, and technical difficulty. You will be expected to pay 50% of that price upfront, and the rest on delivery.

Option 5: Design commission

If the character you want has no previous art or other image I can reference, that's a design commission!

I love design comms, they are so much fun! Just be aware that the process can take a while, with several back-and-forths and revisions along the way

Design commissions can overlap with the other categories as well. You may request a new design to use used in a pfp, a sketch, or a painting. Just be aware that the design process will add to the price!

I can also do your basic reference sheet. These are highly malleable, and you can request as many elements as you want.

The most basic comes with:

-> Colored sketch of the subject (front and back)

-> The color palette, either within the piece or as a separate file

-> Closeups of 1–3 details

-> The rights to the design

Optional elements include, but aren't limited to: extra closeups on details/items/tattoos/scars/etc.; side and 3/4s views; expression sketches; dynamic sketches; size reference; etc.

As far as pricing goes, if you're requesting a reference sheet, we will discuss what elements you want and the relative difficulty of the design. We will agree on an initial estimate, of which you will be expected to pay 50% upfront. After completion, we will tally time worked, and discuss elements added or subtracted from the original order, and agree on a final payment.

If you're requesting a design to be rendered in one of the other options I have, the price of the design and the price of the finished piece will be considered separately.

-> I will not hold you to working with me to create a full reference sheet, but for any design commission, I will require feedback on the design before I begin sketching on the actual piece.

-> We'll agree on a price for the design, and it will be added to the price at the end. It won't be considered in the 50% you would be required to pay upfront (unless requested).

-> We'll work together to make sure the design is reasonably priced. The reason I ask for anything extra at all is because design work involves additional research and planning.

General points:

My style can be very malleable! It doesn't have to be strictly painterly. If you want something in a style from my other works, feel free to ask! (And I'll be sure to update more on here so you can actually see what I've done!) Basically...Don't want to order off the menu? Don't worry, just talk to the chef and we can find you something you'll like!

I specialize in humanoid characters, but I can do animals and hybrids/furries as well, just be aware that rendering fur or scales in the painterly style will count as "asking for a lot of detail."

I struggle with complex machinery—my strengths are in the organic world.

On that note, mechs are inherently high-detail, and I may not be the best person for the job. I'd be more than willing to take a look at a design to see if it's within my abilities, just know that there's a bit of a skill gap between Baymax and Gundam. I'm willing to challenge myself, though!

Lastly, please no NSFW, much like with mechs, that's simply not my area of expertise, but unlike with mechs, I have even less experience! I would need some practice before I wanted to accept.
