Enver Gortash. Male. 47. Baldur’s Gate.  Likes: podcasts, robotics, reading, campaigning for a better future for the city.  Dislikes: this fucking website. Looking for: ??????????

His profile is bare. There’s pre-written questions he can answer but who really cares about people’s controversial opinions or what their ideal date is? The more he thinks about it, the more joining a dating website is a bad idea. Gortash is a public figure now and he’s concerned that people may use that against him in the future. He really should’ve sorted this out before he ran for office. Parading around a happy family would do him wonders at the polls and he thinks it would make him look a lot more appealing without even trying.

And here he is, too caught up in thinking about a certain employee of his that he’s resorted to finding someone online to take his mind off of her. Gods, he’s never felt more pathetic than right now. He drags a hand down his face and closes the tab, deciding that he’ll just have to resort to other means if his mind starts to wander again.

Let me tell you about the tattoo that my mom hates (this is a long ass post btw)

Hey, hi, it's me. This is the only place I feel really open about sharing things - but with the holidays and cold months coming up I know how hard it can be for people who are struggling with depression/ bi polar / familial trauma, etc. So here's this post to remind you (and me) that we'll be okay. You and me. We will be okay. We are still breathing, and with every breath we take, we still have a shot at living the lives we've dreamed of.

You see this tattoo? I got it as a reminder. Oh yeah, also it's a Dark Souls tattoo. It says "Don't You Dare Go Hollow".

My mom HATES it, but she has come to terms with how much I love this tattoo.

But anyways, I got this tattoo to remind myself to keep going. I got it about 1-2 years after I attempted to leave this earth on my own accord.

Background (skip if you want)

It was 2020. I had been a Veterinary Assistant (technician basically depending on what state you're in, TN treats the assistants the same as technicians). Clients were beating me down dude. I had phones thrown at me. I had death threats. I had people telling me I was a worthless piece of shit. I wanted to help these animal, but to do that I felt like I had to take and accept this slurry of abuse. I was unmedicated. I felt alone. I felt like I was nothing. An empty vessel. So one day I was supposed to go to work and we were working on a skeleton crew. 12 to 13 hours a day, days in a row, sometimes we would still have to go in on our off days. I couldn't do it anymore. I called out. I said I was sick. The response "I'm sorry you're sick, but that puts our team in a hard spot". That was it. The last straw.

I ended up going to the ER. I stayed there for a week. And thrn I ended up in a mental institution for 3 days. I was started on Zoloft.

All was well for a little bit. I stayed in my profession and decided to go to Tech School to brighten my future and make some more money.

It was. The most stressful time of my life. While I did leave my previous clinic I switched to ER and Specialty and lasted only about 6 months there. Before I realized I was spiraling again. I felt like a failure as a tech. I was worthless. I wasn't enough. I got let go. If I had been doing this for 5 years and could do this what fucking good was I? I saw the signs. I understood what was happening. I sought help and went to group therapy at a behavioral hospital.

It was amazing. The people I met, the counselors, I made so many friends and people who believed in me. We increased the dosage of my meds.

Now. I'm at a new clinic. I'm spiraling again. I'm in bad health. The doctors don't know what's wrong with me, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's stress from my career. I still come home sobbing. I come home feeling empty. No amount of medication can help free me from the unhappiness of my job. At one point I loved it. Somewhere along the way I realized that this isn't the life I want. I love your pets. I love my current clients. But I can't take the pressures of possibly getting hurt or sick. My back is messed up from this job, all of my joints pop and hurt, I have damaged and fractured my teeth from grinding them from stress. I am always tired. Working 10+ hours with just a one hour break isn't cutting it. I am miserable.

So.

I took the fucking leap guys. I'm doing it. I'm switching my career. I'm going back to my roots. I'm being creative and doing what. I started podcasting and realized how much I missed being myself. My VTNE is next month and I don't give a shit.

The game changer was really being inspired by the voice acting in Baulder's Gate 3. Hearing Neil Newbon's speech when he accepted his award made me cry. I took one of Steve Blums voice acting classes and . . . My God it was like finally hearing the affirmation I never got from my parents.

Back to the Tattoo

My point is, no matter how hard it gets, please allow yourself to enjoy the things you love and fuck what everyone else says. You do yourself a disservice if you don't give yourself a break. If you don't be true to yourself, if you don't strive for the life you've dreamed of.

It's why my tattoo is the Bonfire from Dark Souls. In your journey, you're going to fail multiple times. Sometimes, you get hung up on the same damn spot over and over and over again. Sometimes, you have to reface your enemies. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE BOSS BATTLES. You may fail thousands of times, but you know what you do? You go back to your bonfire- your safe place- and you heal up. You get the fuck back up the next day and do it again. Sometimes your game plan changes. You don't have to fight this boss today. You can fight him when you're ready. You don't have to make huge progress in the game today - you can dick around and look for good armor. You can change the whole path you take if you want to - it doesn't matter. In the end you will eventually accomplish what you've came to do.

I have really been fighting for my life lately, but I don't want to lose hope. If I give up, then I'll never see the end of the game or move on to the next one.

It's hard sometimes. But my favorite quote is:

"So if you ever find yourself in a slump, remember your purpose - whatever it may be - and never stop fighting for your goals, no matter how crazy they may seem. And don't you dare go hollow"

I don't know you guys but I love you. And if you need someone to tell you that personally my inboxes are open.

I miss the lavender lattes from the coffeehouse covered in plants! I miss waking up next to my boyfriend talking for at least an hour before getting up! I miss waking up at sunrise to birds in my windowsill! I miss the rain I miss the sun I miss the storms that barricaded everyone in together! I miss talking to the shop owners I miss finding the food I grew up with right there with me! I miss staying in the library till four in the morning I miss laying in the field between class! I miss eating the lunch I made for myself knowing that I made it cute just for me! I miss having people over to cook for them! i miss having everyone and their mother squeeze into my little single room for tea drinks therapy games catching up! I miss playing games with my friends next door when we were feeling down! I miss the impromptu podcasts while listening to vinyls in the back! I miss the long talks we had on the back porch! I miss everyone having sleepovers when the power went out! I miss sitting in the hot tub under every star in the sky! I miss watching the snow fall collect on our patio and the redwoods and the moon rocks! miss the late night summer swims in the pool that was still warmed from the sun! I miss walking around the property picking every fruit my arms could carry I miss feeding the chicken my scraps and picking fresh eggs in the morning! I miss playing fetch with the dog every time we drive through the gate! I miss going to the bonfires on our favorite beach! I miss skating along the bike path down to the boardwalk! I miss the bowling alley I went to for my birthday day! I miss watching the people do karaoke every time we waited for our lane! I miss talking to one of my best friends on our living room couch trying to play games to pass the time! I miss my first date at the brewery and I miss the trivia night in the back! I miss the small mountain dive bar with only one pool table and the guy with no finger! I miss the night my apartment was so hot me and by boyfriend nearly melted into the bed! I miss our monthly photo strip and the arcade! I miss our reading dates we have at the lighthouse! I miss driving down the street knowing i was right where i was meant to be! I miss feeling like I was part of something bigger than myself I miss having purpose! I miss being home!

Heather Morris Interview -

Discussion about how she came to the show - worked for Beyonce, and Zach Woodlee (Glee's Choreographer) had her come on to help teach the Single Ladies dance. Never had an audition with RM because it was cancelled twice, and was more or less just incorporated into the show.

Discussion about her first day - and how she essentially pooped her pants on her way to the show, and threw her dirty panties outside her car window and kept going.

Mentions that Heather's inspiration for Brittany came from a character from Mean Girls.

Discussion about her eating disorder, and how Naya was the only person who reached out to her.

(Lots of discussion around Naya, and the gratefulness about how she was able to speak her mind.)

Discussion about her family life and how they shaped her and her work ethic. She works hard, but keeps her head low and tries to stay out of things (almost to a fault).

Discussion about how fame was really hard -- she had put in the work to be famous, but once there, wanted to go back to being private. (They discuss how the attention thrown on her was a lot like how it was with Chris -- and how Heather is a very private person who had a hard time with being a public figure.

Discussion about how hard the show was to do -- and how tiring. They recall a time during Rocky Horror where it was 1am, and Heather wasn't well -- and Kevin surmised that if Heather isn't well, than none of them were.

Discussion about mental health - and Heather going to therapy (I do appreciate the positivity surrounding the subject).

Discussion about being pregnant while on the show -- more or less, that it was crazy that she had to do it, and she also had to fight to get off the show for the end of her pregnancy.

Discussion on various reality shows they've all been on - The Masked Dancer (which Heather won), RuPaul's Drag Race (which Kevin and Jenna were one), and a mild shade at Dancing with the Stars - where Heather didn't get far, but also got a lot of flack about because she was a professional dancer.

Heather's favorite numbers: U Can't Touch This (it was fun!), River Deep Mountain High, Jump (though apparently Jump was the worst because it was so hot.

Least favorite: Hello Goodbye (Because you shouldn't touch classics) and Bad Romance (the costume was the worst.)

She talked about how working with Naya was amazing, and it was always a treat get to listen to hear her sing.

And... that's pretty much it. It was a lot of stream of conscious discussions. They didn't really dig in deep to any of the topics, but kind of let the conversation flow somewhat naturally.

Preggers Recap -

The fact that I just listened to this podcast and don't have a lot of firm moments probably says something. It's a lot of gushing and a lot of just recapping the plot - and Kevin and Jenna are cute, but not much noteworthy.

They break the plot down into three parts -

Babygate - the part that's a majority of the episode, but they don't have a lot to say about it - other than they think Terri is a horror movie character (she is - now that I think about it). Also the line from Kendra about the baby being black is a nod to Jessilyn Gelsig's character from Niptuck.

Beyonce Gate - they discuss a bit about the Single Ladies dance, and Jenna talks a little about having to put that together. They mention Chris changing the costume to be more Kurt-like (which, hilariously, is a well known story around these parts). Also - the slap to Tina's butt was an improv.

They both have a lot of affection for the story line (me, too!) - even if it is campy. They really praise Mike O'Malley's Burt - who keeps it real and honest among a show full of crazy people.

They text Ryan to ask him if Kurt's coming out was based on his life. Ryan says no -- it's what he wish had happened. Which I think is fascinatingly insightful. Kevin and Jenna go into a discussion about how the show represents idyllic situations as a way to show positivity for the gay community. Jenna also likened it to wanting to see more positive adoption stories - since she is adopted, and things she sees in media are always negative.

Sue's story - They talk about Lea wanting to have a Celine Dion song, and getting one. Jenna was also asking for Celine Dion songs, but didn't really get to do one. (There was also a story about how Lea asked for a Celine song, and was given the wrong one -- I'm so curious as to what this was.) Also, Jenna shares a few stories that I think they talked about on their Showmance podcast -- the first being her dislike of the spider necklace because she doesn't like spiders and the second being Matt's advice on not doing theater acting for the camera.

They also discuss Tonight - and how it's going to be a running gag that Tina doesn't get songs. (Jenna jokes - with some truth behind it - that Tina's lack of things to do is what made her crack.)

Cringiest Moment: All of Sandy and Figgins commercial for the socks.

Worst dance move: none. Everyone was awesome.

Best Song: Single Ladies

Best Line: My body is like a rum chocolate souffle... ;)

Best performance by a prop: the spider necklace

Things that didn't age well: The quote about the baby being black.

Things that did age well: Burt coming home to watch deadliest catch.

Shit we found on TikTok: They talk about the recaps of their podcast on TikTok and do a couple of shoutouts. They also acknowledge the plot hole (?) about Karofsky being on the hockey team and football team. So - they have a voice message from Max Adler - who talks about coming in originally for a one time thing being a hockey player. And when they called him back - they had to make him a football player.

(Omg - so, not only does Kevin peruse TikTok all the time for Glee content, but he's asking people to send him stuff, too. I am /so/ glad I'm not on TikTok -- I just would never want anyone from the show to see my content. Eesh.)

I’VE BEEN WAITING YEARS TO BE ASKED ABOUT THIS *insert that one screenshot of entrapta*

These should be in chronological order since they’re copied from my notes app where they’ve been collecting dust. They include: a title, a ranking 1-5 not on how much I liked them but based on how easy they are to follow/how much you need to be paying attention, a brief description that got better as I went along, and then my favorite character(s). The list is missing WTNV (my gateway podcast) which I started listening to because I kept seeing their tweets and thought they were funny. I didn’t even know it was a podcast and first I just wanted to keep up with their twitter. It is also missing Kaleidotrope which should be in front of HFTH. Most of the new podcasts I listen to come from recs from Pinterest and Tumblr.

Podcasts:

Starship Iris: 3 but there’s a ton of good stuff. Be gay do crimes but it’s in space. I hope you like “whiskey in the jar”. Krejjh.

The Orbiting Human Circus: 5. Comfort podcast. Just a smol boi with an incredible imagination and amnesia. Great for a mental escape. Julian but also most of them are great

King Falls am: 2. Late night talk radio but with cryptids. Starts with 16 min episodes but later 30 min. We love the hosts. Greg Frickard can eat shit. Ben Arnold

The Bright Sessions: 2. Therapy for the strange and unusual. Three main patients but later episodes can take place outside of sessions. Caleb.

Girl in Space: 4. Super long episodes like at least 45 min but that’s the shortest one so... I CANT BELIEVE I WROTE SO LITTLE WATCH THIS ONE. X but I’m fond of Kai.

Eos 10: 5 Interplanetary med clinic with bizarre humor. Listen to ep. 4 with headphones. Dimensional shift in season 3? is confusing and takes getting used to but otherwise really good. Jane Johns and Levi.

Myths and Legends: 1 interesting cryptids without being scary. Diverse storytelling. Good to vibe or fall asleep to.

The Magnus Archives: 3 its dark academia meets urban legend. It’s so spooky and full of unrelated? short stories. Also the main character hates his co workers so so much. I mean he really shouldn’t but,,,, Martin and Daisy

Wolf 359: 2 it’s easy to follow. They’re on a spaceship and boy does it suck. How much can pop culture loving Officer Eiffel prevent anyone from accomplishing anything that needs to be done? A solid 60% of the time. Eiffel but also Hera

The Penumbra (but really just the Juno Steel ones the second citadel wasn’t all that good): 2 A private eye who lives on Mars and uses the word “goddamn” like a comma ends up falling for the most ridiculously extra thief and is angry about it. It’s set like a black and white detective movie and tends to have really funny dialogue at least once you get into it if not out of the gate. Honestly, Juno but i love literally everyone.

Within the wires: 3 so each season has an entirely new time period and main narrator but it’s all the same dystopian alternate universe. Honestly it gets fascinating seeing all of the facets of The Society. Micheal or maybe Hester

Hello from the Hallowoods: 3 it seems like there’s no continuity at first but the stories connect I promise and you won’t have to go back like you would for The Magnus Archives and these characters, even the ones that sort of bore you at first will become so, so dear to you. A forest at the end of the world, black water and the world changed in the far north of Ontario. It’s got it all and it is morbid and queer and STUNNINGLY beautiful. Diggory, Percy, Mort, Yaretzi, Walt, and ridiculously I have a certain fondness for Big Mikey. It’s such an ensamble but they’re all so good ��

Monstrous Agonies: 1 fifteen-minute double advice segments for the creature and supernatural community of Britain and beyond. It’s weird and I don’t have a lot of attachment to the show itself but some episodes are stunningly well done and it’s got tons of amazing concepts that it explores. No favorite characters per se, since there are few repeat appearances outside of The Presenter, so in lieu of that my favorite episodes were the one with the bean sidhe and the one with the wulver and the old woman in love. It seems like all of the good stories come out of Ireland.

Hey fam, I wanted to get some theories out here in the “wild” before House of Sky and Breath releases next week! I can’t wait 😱😱😱 These are all my theories for SJM books because I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive!

I’m in the minority here, but I am a firm believer that all three series are going to converge plotlines in a War of the Worlds style conflict. I think all our main characters will share page space in the same novel to defeat the Big Bad. My personal thinking is the return of the Valg. Because did the Valg ever really leave? Not really, they were cast out their respective worlds. Meave and Erawan are gone from Erilea, but to where we just don’t know. This leads to another theory I have for the Acotar world that Amarantha and The King of Hybern were Valg. This is supported in the Throne of Glass text. We know Valg have black eyes and have a mind trick they use to ensure no one remembers their name. Just like Dorian’s father in TOG (whose name no one knew)we only know the King of Hybern as Hybern. Additionally, Amarantha had no recollection of Rhysand, who was her high profile prisoner 150 years prior. Just like Meave and Erawan, Amarantha and Hybern perish on the battlefield. But I suspect it’s just the death of their host bodies and the Valg will return again one day.

We know that Bryce has a closer connection to these high level demon types, as she summons Aidas directly (obsessed with Aidas 🐈). Crescent City also has gates directly into other worlds, I think these will come into play more actively. Aelin has the wyrdstones, acotar made mention of ancient caves within the sacred mountains containing a network of rivers and streams where one could theoretically access other realms. Hoping the cast of acotar heads back under the mountain y’all! I also hope Tharion takes a swim up the Sidra. This might be a little crack theory, but I actually think it will happen 😬

I also really agree with the theory I’ve seen that Hunt’s father is the King of Hel. Hoping that’s the twist swirling around about the ending of HOSAB 🤞

Ava, from the Fandomtastic podcast, made one of the most astute observations I’ve seen. It’s mentioned in HOEAB about 10 times that it’s raining an unusual amount in Midgard. I agree that’s notable, while SJM *has* been guilty of overwriting before, in this case I think it’s a foreshadow of things to come. I think the gods are getting frisky, and I want to see them unleash their wrath across the Mass multiverse.

Another theory I saw that I liked, but am not committing to 100% is that Koschei is messing with azriel and Elain’s mating bond. So far an extremely mysterious character, we know that Koschei can appear as black mist, can whisper on the wind, and keeps women imprisoned as swans. I actually adore this smattering of folklores. Just as I adored the smattering of Tam Lin in acotar. But that’s off topic. Koschei operates as an agent of chaos in the current text, he’s not actually a villain (yet). I support the theory that he’s influencing Elain, but to what end? I’m actually more excited about the next book in the ACOTAR series than I am for HOSAB, but I think they all fit together.

We know the Valg have been attempting to take over other worlds for at least 5000 years (I’m looking at you Elena). So we can take this timeframe and translate it to all three series, in an event called The Crossing in HOEAB. This event is how we get ancient Fae artifacts that have been scattered in different worlds and how the main characters share characteristics (Autumn Court and Autumn King for one example). Speaking of sharing characteristics, anyone else see similarities between our dear Rhysand and those pesky Valg? Because I 1000% believe night court has ancient ties to Hel. Rhys is going to need therapy when he finds out. But I don’t want to talk about him, Rhys was such a pain in acofas I need a break from him.

I think I briefly touched on everything, I still have one more crack theory that I’m going to keep contained for now, but my predominant thinking is War of the Worlds and we will need every skill of every main character to come together. Think about how powerful Aelin, Rhys, Bryce, Hunt, and Nesta are. They are all one in a million and they all exist on the same timeline. I’m telling you, something is brewing.

If you read all this, you are the true hero here. While I do believe in my theories, they are all just for fun. I fully expect to be wrong. I would love to talk about any theories you have, or if you agree/disagree with my thoughts. (Just be respectful please, I welcome all debate). Mostly, no matter what happens in these books, they are the most fun I’ve ever had reading a series ever. I picked up ACOTAR in December 2018 and by February had read everything SJM had written up to that point. Nesta is easily my favorite character and I never want these books to end!

Hey! I'm 25 and I'm currently experiencing probably the biggest crisis of faith in my life. In my country (Poland) the Church and the LGBT people are at constant ideological war between each other. Ever since realizing I'm non-binary I've been less and less involved with the Church - mostly because if I went there I would most likely hear a lot of gate directed towards people like me. At the same time, ever since I was a child, I've suffered with thanatophobia, that would resurface every few years - this is one of such times. Usually going to Church and letting myself experience the social part of worshipping God put my mind at ease... but this time, I simply feel like I can't, because it'll just create another type of anxiety. I have no idea what to do... Do you have any advice?

Hey there. My heart goes out to you in all that you're experiencing. It's unjust that your country's Church has set up this conflict between it and LGBT+ persons; you deserve communities where you can be proudly non-binary and express your faith however you choose.

If you're interested, one of my earliest guests on my trans faith podcast was Hanka, who is a Polish bigender lesbian....he talked about the tensions between faith and gender in Poland; maybe listening to it will help you feel a little less alone. It's episode 8, "Hanka is a Polish Cryptid," and you can find links where to listen on this webpage.

As you continue to wrestle with all this, I think finding a counselor/therapist who specializes in anxiety around death might be a good idea, if you're able. It sounds like church is not the perfect option for you for coping with your thanatophobia right now -- so seeking out alternative or additional methods, such as therapy, might help.

Finally, if there are no churches in your area/country that are safe for you right now, online worship can be really beautiful!! There are a lot of fully LGBT-affirming churches who stream/post their services online.

I can recommend my own home church 100%. Our pastor Cathy is so wonderful about always learning and improving when it comes to LGBTQA+ stuff and all sorts of other things. The sermons and liturgy are always phenomenal; they even frequently tie in LGBTQA+ experiences directly. Worshipping with my home church virtually has been such a help for me through this pandemic -- I moved far away from this church, but thanks to online services, I'm able to continue connecting to God with my faith community. You can find my church's (Grace Presbyterian in Tuscaloosa, AL) live-streamed worship services every Sunday morning at 11am CST on their Facebook page. Or view older services on their YouTube channel.

Another great online worship option is my friend Ainsley's fully online Queer Church, with services streaming on Facebook every Sunday at 3pm EST.
