We were shocked and excited to open up a box of new records this morning and see this Raging Head pop out! Very honoured to be one of the few select stores to stock the new solo LP from @tomlyngcoln, who you may know from his work over the last 2 decades with @thenationblue, @onlineharmony and Pale Heads. Following on from his 2018 solo debut "Doming Home", the cranium-themed material continues with a more full-band approach, enlisting the help of Jay Allen (The Kill / Mid Youth Crisis / Fuck I'm Dead) on drums and Cal Foley (The Stevens / The Blinds) on bass. Management cut sick when they saw this cracker shot of us ordering a couple of hot dogs from the bar at the Eastern in BallaHOTrat on the weekend! They were well stoked jetSam only ordered for himself and Jules cos flotSean is a drummer and that's a choice he'll have to live with for the rest of his life. Now you can't get drummers wet, befriend them or feed them after midnight and we were informed at 3am he ate the carrier pigeon bearing news of the Beyond Black 2 festival raising $3500 for the @beyondblueofficial organisation! That's better than multiple drummers! And speaking of blue, we were accosted at our doily sale trestle table by a nude fan called Bren 4thDaninKaraoke saying that our extended encore set of a solid 17 minutes plus a smoko reminded him of a "happy @thenationblue"! Like a bum full of hammers, he nailed the crap out of our drungent soiled toilet performance that evening! We smashed our rendition of a @foofighters medley, lifting highlights from their probably highly acclaimed acoustic album where they covered Disturbed playing Sound of Silence at the Rusty Facets Retirement Village and then we pummelled our cover version of Lars Ulrichprick of @metallica tribute band Metallica butchering his own drumbeat from his hit song "With or Without You" on Guitar Hero whilst disappearing up his own bottom! A lot of great stuff happened in the 'Rat, a lot of great people! Big news in the lighting world. @thenationblue begged me, Illumihate69, to come out of retirement and do their lights tonight at the Corner with @thesmithstreetband Probably the best lights show I ahve ever done. I told an entire narrative full of twists and turns with flashes of colour. Melbourne's most fascinating noise-rock stalwarts THE NATION BLUE will release TWO new full length records:’Black’ and ‘Blue’ via Poison City Records on October 14. How did seven years slip by? Since the release of their ‘Rising Waters’ LP, Tom Lyngcoln, Matt Weston and Dan McKay were drawn inescapably back to The Nation Blue after several years pursuing individual creative, professional and personal endeavours and operating the band bi-annually. Musical detours have included Harmony, High Tension, Adalita's band, King Cannons and Pale Heads. Recorded live in a vast hall in regional Victoria with friend and producer Mike Deslandes over two summers, 'Black' & 'Blue's' 29 songs are an assured reunion, twenty years distant from the acts’ Tasmanian genesis.
