A humid breeze blew through your hair, the putrid stench of Hell carried with it. Somewhere in the distance, something—whatever it may be this time—exploded, prompting usual screams of terror.
But your heart fluttered, eyes fixated on your friend next to you. You sat side by side with them, on a random hilltop the two of you stumbled upon. It was quiet, but barely out of the chaos of the main pentagram.
"What? What is it?" They laughed as they finally called you out on your staring.
You almost swooned as their warm brown eyes met yours. "You just have the prettiest set of eyes in all of Hell, that's all."
You had been so proud of that. So happy about how smooth you were at the delivery. Giddy about the blush that crept onto your friend's face.
The same warm brown eyes—Hell's prettiest, as Alastor so kindly reminded you—stared back at you now.
Unseeing.
Without its owner's head anywhere near.
On a plate placed before you.
Your blood felt like ice as you hung your head low. Unable to think. Unable to feel. Unable to breathe, maybe, you weren't really sure anymore.
"Afraid I might have gotten carried away, dear. I was absolutely starving since you stood me up on our lunch meeting." Alastor's tone was as bright and cheerful as it always was—you could almost argue that it was even happier now. "Of course, I did save you their eyes. I knew how much you just loved them."
He continued on, sighing and swooning about this and that. How it had been a while since he had such a satisfying meal. How it was all thanks to you for leading him to it. How he can't wait to meet more of your friends—if you ever managed to make any after the show he put on for you.
But you sat still, mind unable to comprehend what actually sat in front of you. Alastor might as well have been talking from three rooms away for all you heard from him. His voice almost sounding like it came from underwater, barely able to pierce through the fog in your head.
It was only when the demon who sat across from you stabbed a fork through an eyeball on your plate, did your senses come back. Like a flipped switch, you could hear well again, in time to hear the disgusting squish of the organ, blood and fluids spilling as it was stabbed.
"Don't let it go cold now, my dear. I went through so much trouble to get them intact and still warm for you." Alastor smiled as he sat across you.
One of his elbows rested on the table, hand cradling his cheek as you met his gaze. The gleeful, cold red eyes sickened you much more than the gore he held up. He raised the fork to you. Your friend's eye at the end of it. "Say Aaah~"
You pressed your lips together. Whether to resist the cruel torture, or to keep the bile from coming out, you were unsure.
Like a stubborn child, you shook your head, arms pushing against the table to get up from your seat. Alastor was behind you in seconds, dissolving and rematerializing through shadows faster than you could blink.
"Nuh uh, dearest. We don't waste good food in this Hotel. What would the papers say if they find out we throw away such scarce resource?" He pressed his body against the back of your chair, securing you back at the table with an easy push.
He leaned over your shoulder, long arms reached around you. You stared as his clawed hands planted themselves on the table in front of you, caging you in, framing that horrid plate.
You felt his breath by your ear, that horribly familiar static prickled your skin, before you heard him speak. "You know, I'm starting to think you like how your friends taste."
You swallowed against your dry throat, eyes wide. Every breath you took was shallow as you tried to shake your head only to be met with a mocking laugh.
"No? Come now, why lie, my dear? It's only us here." Alastor leaned closer over you. The heat of his body inescapable. "This is the third friend this month. Even a child would have learned by now."
"I'm all you need, darling. Everyone else is just cattle." His voice distorted as he spoke, a threat, a promise, you knew from experience that he'd deliver on.
Faintly you could feel the weight of metal around your neck. It wasn't physically there, no. After all, it's been a while since you've given him a reason to summon that chain. But it never really ever felt absent, specially at times like this.
You sighed in resignation, and braced yourself for that familiar horrible taste. Your hands clenched into fists on your lap—a sight that delighted the demon behind you.
"You win." You said softly. Numbly, you parted your lips, mind wandering away as you let Alastor slide the fork into your slack mouth. You ignored what it was you were chewing, letting your body function through the motions as you fought to keep your thoughts else were.
You felt a large hand pat your head, bringing you back to the present in time to hear Alastor's praise. "What a good pet you make, my dear."
The plate before you was empty now, Alastor's looming figure having retreated away from your shaking one, back in his seat in front of you.
The horrible rotten taste still lingered in your mouth, but you didn't bother to ask for something to wash it away. You simply stood up, ready to run to your room and force yourself to throw up—again.
"Hm? Running from me now, are we?" Alastor's brows raised as he watched you. "Not that you can, I own you, after all."
You suspected his words were less of a reminder for you, and more on just him loving to say them.
"And why should I stay?" Your words seemed argumentative, but your tone and the hunch of your shoulders were anything but. "I've already finished my punishment."
"I would say it was more of a treat, really. You have no idea how much I wanted to eat those." He laughed, not really minding that you just stared back blankly at him.
"Besides, you've yet to pay me back for leaving me waiting at Rosie's. So come, sit." An invitation to most, an order to you.
So sat you did. You ignored the smudges of blood on the plate still in front of you. You ignored the bitter taste the that lingered in your mouth. You ignored the growing numbness spreading from your chest to the rest of your limbs.
You ignored yourself.
Mindlessly, you nodded along to whatever gossip Alastor had, almost immediately, began sharing with you.
Tumblr media
Alastor's hold on you had tightened in the past few months. Not only had he pulled you away from the people at the hotel—you were apparently terribly ill, contagious, but fine under his care—but he had also confiscated your phone and TV.
The window in your room was also simply magicked away. He didn't want you getting any funny ideas of leaving him again, after all.
At first you were fine with it. You had a few books in your room, anyway. But after the first two weeks, you've already finished most of them.
Still, they kept you entertained for a little longer after that; you didn't really mind rereading them—for the fourth time, you think.
But then you had that fight with Alastor. You had asked for your phone back, desperate to know what was going on outside your room. Desperate to listen to your music. Desperate to hear another voice aside from your own.
Alastor merely waved off your concern. He let you keep his radio after all. You could simply listen to him. He talked about current events, and played music, and broadcasted all sorts of screams voices. You didn't need anything else.
He didn't quite take it nicely when you had spat that it wasn't enough.
In the fray that followed, your books were lost. Torn to shreds in seconds.
But no matter, you had thought. You still had some paper, a pencil, some paint. While you weren't the best artist around, you doodled the hours away, anyway. Coloring, sketching, filling out every plain, empty gap on the papers you had.
You were quickly running out of material, though. You'd repeatedly ask Alastor to get you more paper, another pencil, even an eraser, every time he came by. But all he kept saying was that he forgot to fetch some, and that he will surely do so next time.
You were always disappointed, but knew better than to start another fight. You didn't want to risk destroying what little paint you had left, after all.
You had began to doodle on your walls. Counting the little details on the wallpaper, even each and crack along your way. You had drawn everything you ever knew existed; from characters you used to liked when you were alive to a freaking sock on the floor.
The friends he made you eat.
Hastily covered with a drawing of a deer.
By his next visit, Alastor was appalled by the state of your room. He didn't quite appreciate your vandalism. He promptly snapped his fingers and the walls were replaced. Your drawings gone, the wallpaper gone, even the cracks were gone. It was now just a smooth red surface.
He had taken away the paint, not that there was much left at that point. You thought it was fair anyway, considering you did draw on the walls like an irresponsible child.
You tried cleaning too, just to keep your mind going, your body moving. But no, no, no. Alastor couldn't have his dear friend, and a valued hotel guest, doing such menial labor.
He easily cleaned the room for you, not a speck of dust left. Barely any furniture left too—he had found them tacky, apparently.
At that point all you had to look forward to were Alastor's visits. Constant, they were. He insisted he brought you your food personally, of course.
You had been suspicious about what he was feeding you, even once outright questioning what you were eating.
He had laughed. "Unless you made any new friends from this room, I can assure you, you aren't eating any sinners, my dear."
You weren't sure how much his assurance was worth, but food was one of the only two things you actually had here. You didn't feel like giving that up, too.
You hated him. Hated him for keeping you here. Hated him for ignoring all your pleas to be let out.
You hated him, but still found yourself jumping from your bed as soon as you heard the door handle rattle.
You hated him, but him coming to visit meant you had something to do.
The radio by your bed, and Alastor's frequent visits were all you had left.
The isolation was driving you insane, broken only whenever Alastor wanted to.
Alastor was driving you insane, but without him you were completely isolated.
Your sanity felt like a candle burning at both ends, melting far too fast for you to keep it together. You didn't know anymore which torture you preferred. Alastor's presence or absence?
At least, that was a few weeks back.
Because it wasn't like you needed to choose now.
Your food had been appearing on your side table every meal time, instead of coming in carried by the familiar demon.
The radio beside you had been silent for a long while now. Not one terrified scream, not one jazzy tune, not even empty static.
And of course, Alastor himself hadn't come in to see you in weeks.
You think it's been weeks, at least. He took the clock with him last time he cleaned.
No, there was no need to pick your poison anymore. Alastor had chosen for you.
At first, you had been bitter. How dare he ignore you—or did he forget about you? God, no, he wouldn't. Right? —how dare he not even check in to see if you were even still alive.
How dare he not visit.
And then, you were worried. It was one thing for him not to pop in on you, another thing entirely to miss his shows. He'd never miss an opportunity to broadcast fear over Pride Ring, but your radio had been quiet this whole time. What was keeping him, then? Was he hurt? Was he okay?
Then, and you think it was the worst of them all, you started to miss him. From the moment you woke from restless slumber, your eyes fixated on the door handle, begging it to turn. Your chest ached, praying to hear his silly staticy voice again, even if it was just senseless gossip.
You felt like screaming, begging, pounding on the door for him to visit you. But you knew he wouldn't like that. No, if the others in the hotel found out, Alastor would likely never visit you ever again.
So you kept to your bed. Your days spent glaring down at the door in desperation, switching only to the radio to do the same, for hours on end. Every little shift you made, the sheets moving under you, felt so deafeningly loud in the empty room.
It was almost maddening.
Tumblr media
"My dear, I have a task for you." Alastor's cheery voice spoke up by your ear.
Your eyes snapped open, greeted by the sight of the demon leaning over your head.
"Nothing too difficult, just a little grocery shopping." He continued on as if he hadn't left you to rot.
You didn't care, nor did you register what his words meant. No, the first thing your body jumped to, your mind went to, was that Alastor was here.
"Al!" The glee in your voice unrestricted as you pushed your sheets away and threw your arms around him. The relief, the absolute refreshment, of feeling another warm body against you again was almost heavenly.
A soft hand patted at your shoulder as he awkwardly stayed there. "Well, good morning to you too, sweetheart." He laughed.
You sat up, eyes wide as you leaned away and took him in. Unmistakably, a very welcomed sight.
He told you about the chore he needed done, truly very simple. Just a literal grocery list. But you held onto every word, every charming staticy syllable falling from his lips as if he was preaching your religion.
You were determined to memorize it all, not just to complete the task but to simply engrave his voice in your head.
You were so thankful to finally hear something other than your creaky bed. To finally be having a conversation again. To feel human.
It hadn't even click for you that you will finally be heading out.
You were quick in getting the task done, determined to get back to Alastor as fast as you could.
You hadn't notice how your skin thawed in the outside heat compared to the icy room you've been locked in. You hadn't paid mind to everyone's greetings around you. You didn't care for all the flashing lights, and tasty smells, and loud music and laughter and screams around you as finished you little assignment.
You wanted to get things done so you could be by the familiar demon again. His presence almost felt like a drug you've been deprived off for so long, that it physically irked you to be away.
And that's how it was from then on.
You were given a new room at the hotel. Alastor had replaced all the books he destroyed because he just felt so guilty. He had also finally remembered to buy you all those papers and art supplies you asked him to get you. And he had even returned your phone and television to you.
Not that you cared for any of those. You've spent most of your time in Alastor's room anyway, unable to stand a second without hearing his voice.
You'd cling onto every word he'd say, attentive, obsessed.
Your eye would twitch every time he'd mention someone, anyone. Part of you irritated that he had spent time with someone else other than you. Even more so that he cared enough to remember their name. To say their name.
Soon you not only clung onto his words, but onto him as well. Unable to stand that others spent time with him when you could not. You'd miss meals, miss sleep, drop whatever you were doing to follow him wherever he went. To stay by Alastor's side.
When he forbade you from doing so, you would follow in secret, or have your own little ways to spy on him. To know what he was doing.
The few times you were away from your owner's side, you could be found standing over a dead sinner. Maybe someone who touched him, maybe someone he mentioned, maybe someone who simply glanced at him for far too long for your liking. Regardless, they were all equally deserving of death in your eyes. How dare they.
Alastor knew of these, of course. And while he was quickly growing suffocated by your constant overbearing presence, he hadn't really bothered to say much.
He still preferred this—this grotesque reflection of his own affections for you—over your defiant little attitude before.
His last straw, however, was now. When you stood over yet another sinner. The light gone from their eyes as you still, repeatedly, shot at their corpse.
The green chain appeared in his clenched fist for the first time in a long while. The collar snapped shut around your neck, but you hadn't even noticed until he gave it a harsh yank.
You were pulled to the side, stumbling over the body by your feet. You looked up, confused, to see Alastor snarling down at you.
"I needed him alive, dear." He said, his annoyance barely kept under control.
"He touched you." You merely replied, as if it was the worst offense, worst sin, in Hell.
"Because we were making a deal, you stupid pest!" Alastor hissed through his teeth, but you merely blinked at him as if you didn't see his point still.
You stood up straighter, keeping your eyes on him. Always on him.
He was so beautiful, so perfect. Everything you needed.
Why had you ever wanted to find anyone more?
"But he still held your hand."
"I'll touch who I want to touch. Do not forget who holds the leash here." His eyes narrowed, chain pulling taught between you.
You smiled at him, loving the way his voice sounded when he was getting angry. It rarely happened now considering how good you were for him, but oh, did it sound like music to you.
Your hands lifted to softly run your hands through the chain by your neck. "You do, of course. I don't question that."
"I need you, Al." You added, soft, almost loving expression on your face as your adored his furious red eyes. "And while I can't force you to stay with me, alone. I can simply just get rid of everyone else. I can be your only one, if I'm the only one left."
"So you've finally flew off the handle, dearest?" His question seemed genuine, not at all in jest.
But you laughed anyway, as if it was the funniest thing ever. "And what if I have?" You grinned at him. "What will you do? Run from me?"
Your fingers gripped the chain suddenly, yanking yourself forward, closer to him. You feel his pull against the chain as well, not to bring you close but simply to keep hold of it. To keep hold of his control over you.
Your eyes lowered, admiring him from up close now. The flicker of uncertainty in his eyes was new, and you couldn't wait to see more new things from him now that you're so devastatingly devoted to him.
"You own me, remember? I'm here forever."

You Could’ve Died: Tonowari
Avatar Masterlist
word count: 800
Request:  tonowari x reader: Maybe the reader is a great warrior and has a near-death experience that scares tf out of her mate and kids
Tumblr media
The second you heard that your kids were in danger from defending a Tulkan, you wasted no time in grabbing your spears and following Jake and Neytiri as someone went to find your husband and tell him what was going on. You climbed on your Skimwing and followed Jake out to where the demon shop was, where you saw your kids tied up making your hiss, as your kids were your entire world and if something happened to them, you would never forgive yourself.
You dove underwater and swam around to the backside of the ship and climbed aboard, where Jake's kids saw you and you motioned for them to be quiet as you ran up and cut the first guy's neck before untying them.
"Go to your parents' now." You said to them as they thanked you.
You continued to make your way through the ship killing each one of these people who dared take any of the children. Your husband arrived at the scene worried about his kids and you, but he knew that once the kids were in danger, these guys stood no chance. He watched as one of the guys aimed a gun at you while you were untying your daughter, so he threw his spear, killing him instantly as you turned and smiled at him.
"Thank you." You mouthed to him as he smiled at you as you finished untying your daughter.
"Let's go, Mama!" Your daughter said pulling on your arm as you saw that Jake and Neytiri were still struggling.
"Mama she right, we should get out of here." Tsierya said to you.
"Go to your father. Jake and Neytiri need my help. I'll be right behind you. I love you." You said to them as you placed a kiss on each of their heads.
Your husband couldn't understand what you were doing until he saw you helping the sully's and sent your daughters home which they didn't like knowing that both of their parents were in danger but he couldn't leave you.
You both helped the sully's rescue their kids and fight off the RDA. You were getting ready to leave when you saw Quaritch aim his gun at Neyetam, and without a second thought, you pushed him out of the way, feeling the bullet pierce your skin.
"NO!" Tono screamed watching you fall, as he swam over to where you were.
"Check for an exit wound!" Jake said as he swam over to where you two were, Tono lifted you and let out a sigh of relief when he didn't see one.
"There isn't one." He said holding you in his arms.
"We need to get that bullet out of her skin, as soon as possible." Jake said to Tono who nodded his head.
"Tono my love is that you?" You asked sleepily reaching for your husband's hand.
"Yeah, it's me, my love. Your gonna be okay, we're gonna get you some help, okay?" He said as you nodded your head.
By the time you guys returned back home, you were out cold as Tonowari carried you to the healer's tent to get help, and your kids became worried when they saw him carrying your unconscious body.
"OUT! ALL OF YOU!" The healer screamed as Tonowari took his kids outside of the tent, promising that you were gonna be okay, even if he wasn't sure himself.
It was about three hours later when the healers finally came out and said that they removed the bullet and you were now sleeping. Your husband walked into the tent and smiled at the sight of you sleeping and breathing. He placed a kiss on your forehead and took a seat next to you and held your hand until the healers kicked him out for the night.
"Daddy wake up, mama's awake." Your youngest daughter said shaking him.
"Come on dad, wake up. Mom's asking for you." A'onung said groaning as he tried waking him up earning a groan from him.
"Alright, I'm up!" He said as your children dragged or attempted to over to the healer's tent where you and Tsierya were at.
Your husband smiled when he saw you sitting up and holding your daughter, you sent him a smile back as your other two children came running over to you.
"Took you long enough." You said to him as he placed a kiss on your lips.
"Glad to see your awake, how are you feeling?" He asked you lacing his hand with yours.
"My shoulder hurts a bit but other than I feel fine. How are you guys doing?" You asked him.
"Better now that your awake, we were all a mess after what you did." He said to you making you sigh.
"I'm sorry I just couldn't let something happen to Neyetam, all I kept thinking if what was one of our kids, and they were in our situation." You said looking at him.
"I know you couldn't. I just can't imagine a world without you in it." Tonowari said kissing your hand.
"Good thing, you don't have to, my love." You said squeezing his hand with a smile.

Sedona - Chapter 3/4
Chapter one & Chapter two
Pairing: Emily Prentiss x Jennifer "JJ" Jareau (Lifeguard AU)
Summary: Inspired by the song 'Sedona' by Houndmouth.
After opening up about their traumatic childhoods, Emily and JJ notice that their feelings for each other may have changed. One of them has to make the first move.
Word Count: 2.8k
Posted on Ao3 as well
Emily and JJ finished cleaning the staff tent as their shift came to an end. The sun had dropped to a height that blanketed the beach in a warm, deep golden light. It was perfect. The day went smoothly, and as a result, both women were in good moods.
JJ threw her towel over a chair, turning to look at Emily. “Wanna go for a swim? The weather is literally perfect,” she motioned towards the still ocean that reflected the sunset.
Emily smiled, pushing the last tub of equipment under the table. She stood up, placing her hands on her hips as if she were contemplating the question. The answer was obviously going to be yes. “I’ll race you!” She yelled, sprinting off towards the water.
JJ gasped, running off in a fit of laughter, not too far behind Emily. “Cheater!” She screamed as they both hit the water, falling flat on their bellies and not being able to stop laughing when they popped up out of the water.
Both girls spat the salt water out of their mouths while wiping their eyes. “Why is the water so nice when we’re not getting paid to be in it?” Emily said, leaning back to dunk her hair in the water so it slicked down her back and out of her face.
“So true. I used to love swimming as a kid. My sister and I used to pretend to be mermaids; it was the best.” JJ smiled, thinking fondly about the memory.
"Well, come on, then, show me your best mermaid swim.”
In that moment, it felt as though both women had been transported back to simpler times. They played in the water as if they were childhood best friends. At one point, Emily was pretending to be a shark as JJ swam away, letting out exaggerated cries for help that mingled perfectly with their uncontrollable laughter.
They even took turns giving each other piggyback rides, throwing each other off into the waves. They hadn’t felt joy like this since they were children; it was so simple and easy.
“Hold on to my shoulder, and I’ll swim underwater and pull you along like a dolphin!” JJ suggested, jumping up and down excitedly.
The sun was now almost touching the horizon, lighting both of their faces perfectly with a golden sheen.
Emily laughed and agreed. “This is so not going to work,” she said, placing her hand on JJ’s shoulder. She followed JJ’s lead and dove into the water, still gripping the girl's shoulder. As they dove in together, she must’ve gone a bit too early because something smacked her hard in the nose. She was taken off guard, grabbed her face, and stood up. She let out a laugh that could’ve passed as a groan. “Oh fuck, ouch.”
“Oh my god, Emily, was that your nose that I hit?” JJ said, standing up and rushing towards Emily. She tucked her own hair behind her ears, getting it out of the way so she could see Emily better. “Let me see, is it bleeding?” She held Emily’s arms, watching as the other woman lowered her hands, no blood was visible.
“No, no blood,” she stated, thankful for that because it would’ve definitely spoilt the mood. “It just bloody hurt, my god; I told you it wouldn’t work,” she teased, scrunching her face up, trying to alleviate the pain; the movements seemed to help.
JJ let out a sigh of relief; she would’ve felt even worse if her nose was bleeding. “Guess I’m not that good at being a dolphin, then?” She giggled, lowering down into the water so the entirety of her body was submerged in the water; only her head was showing.
Emily smiled at the blush that was moving along JJ’s cheeks. “No, not really.” The volume in her voice dropped a few levels as she lowered into the water, so she was matching JJ’s height. Involuntary shivers ran up her body when her knees brushed up against JJ’s. “But it’s okay, cause I like you, so I’ll forgive you.” The beating in her chest quickened with every passing second, her eyes tracing the blonde's face to observe her features.
Everything around them seemed to slow down, as if it were just the two of them floating there as they stared at each other.
JJ could feel the temperature in her body increase, despite being engulfed in the cool ocean water. “Can I ask you a question?” She asked shyly, her nerves beginning to course through her limbs.
Emily nodded, momentarily wiping the water from her face. “Yeah, anything,” she clarified, giving JJ a small smile.
JJ let out a deep breath, trying to work up the courage to speak. “Um, would it be okay if I kissed you right now?” Her whole body felt numb, and her heart was the only thing she could feel in this moment as she waited for an answer.
Emily’s breath hitched when she heard JJ’s question. She was trying to speak but couldn’t quite find the words. She found herself staring at JJ’s lips. She let out a breathy laugh, nodding quickly.
JJ giggled at Emily and how flustered she was. She lifted her hand out of the water, resting it softly on Emily’s cheek. Her thumb ran a path over the pale skin underneath. “I like you too, a lot,” she whispered. JJ could feel the other woman let out a sigh of relief.
Finally, after what felt like minutes but truly was only a few seconds, both women leaned in, their lips pressing together in the most gentle kiss.
Emily’s hands found JJ’s waist through the water and rested there gently. She pulled her in towards her, wanting to be closer to the other girl. Every part of her body that connected with JJ’s felt as though it were on fire. Her lips, her cheeks, her hands on her waist, their knees—everything.
When they pulled away, the giddiness of both women flowed between them. Everything had changed, and they could feel it.
“Was that okay?” JJ asked, a shy smile taking over her lips. Her stomach was doing flips inside her after that kiss; she’d been wanting to kiss her since their first dinner together. Her feelings only increased dramatically the night of the bonfire; she felt so safe with Emily.
Emily’s smile mirrored JJ’s perfectly; they couldn’t be more in sync than in that moment. “It wasn’t bad,” Emily teased, finding JJ’s reaction impossibly adorable.
JJ splashed Emily with water and went to swim away, but Emily laughed loudly, quickly grabbing JJ's hands and pulling her towards her. She wrapped both arms tightly around JJ's waist. The sudden movement made JJ's breath get stuck in her throat. In a movement that felt so natural, she wrapped her arms around Emily’s neck and rested her forehead against the brunettes.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry; I was just joking. I liked it a lot, like a lot a lot,” she chuckled, her gaze flicking down to look at JJ’s lips, then back up to her blue eyes. She pressed her lips against JJ’s, pulling away just as quickly. Not being able to wipe the smile off her face. It felt so right, standing in the water with the other woman in her arms.
JJ let out a happy sigh, hugging Emily tightly and leaning the side of her head on her shoulder. Goosebumps covered her skin, an uncontrollable reaction to Emily’s hands that ran along her back.
“You cold? Did you want to hop out?” Emily asked, picking up on the goosebumps that peppered her skin.
She stood up, looking down at Emily, nodding, only now realising how much the temperature had dropped. Also noticing the sun had almost disappeared, “yeah, lets go; I’ll drive you home,” she stated, taking a hold of Emily’s hand and squeezing it tightly as they walked out of the water.
“You didn’t need to walk me to my door; I could’ve gotten here in one piece by myself.” Emily chuckled, sliding her key into the lock of her door, turning it, and opening it slightly after it clicked. She turned back to face JJ, not being able to stop her eyes from wandering up and down the woman standing in front of her.
JJ shrugged. “I know, I just wanted an excuse to spend more time with you.”
Emily shook her head, smiling. “Okay, well, how about tomorrow? Will you let me take you out?” Her eyebrow raised as she waited for JJ to answer, her mind beginning to race with all the possible date ideas. She wanted it to be perfect.
JJ let out an excited giggle, nodding quickly. “Ooo, like a date?” she asked, despite knowing that it obviously was.
Emily playfully rolled her eyes. “Obviously, but it’s gonna be a surprise, so before you ask, no, I’m not telling you,” she said, raising her hands and looking away from JJ's pouting lips. Knowing she wouldn’t be able to say no to that.
JJ huffed, pretending to be upset. “Fine, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.” She crossed her arms and went to walk away, hoping to get a reaction from Emily.
"Nah, uh, hey! Where’s my goodnight kiss?” She caught JJ's arm, spinning her around, pulling her body against hers, hands resting on JJ's hips. Her heart fluttering hearing JJ's playful laugh fill up the doorway, she brought her hand up to the girl's jaw, her eyes never leaving JJ's lips.
JJ closed the gap, pressing her lips against Emily’s. Her lips were warm against her own, and the taste of salt from the ocean was still lingering behind. She couldn’t get enough of her. Her hand landed on the back of Emily’s neck, deepening the kiss. She almost melted when a quiet moan left Emily’s throat, vibrating between both their lips.
They pulled away from the kiss, both slightly breathless and still holding each other close.
JJ let out a breathy laugh, her fingers subconsciously coming up to touch her own lips. “Okay, well, goodnight, Em.” She was struggling to process how good it felt to kiss the woman in front of her.
Emily chuckled at seeing JJ flustered, her cheeks almost as red as the bathing suit they were both wearing. “Goodnight, Sedona,” she teased, before they both went their separate ways, not being able to forget the feeling of kissing one another.
“Nope, hop out; I’m driving,” Emily said, throwing her bag in the back of JJ’s car and coming around to the driver's side of the car. “You look beautiful, by the way,” she added, admiring JJ, who was in a baby blue sundress, just a few shades lighter than her eyes.
JJ put the car in park and climbed over the centre console, dropping into the passenger seat. She faced Emily, who was now sitting on the driver's side, fastening her seat belt. She looked her up and down, noticing she was also wearing a sundress, but in red. “You look so good, Em; red really is your colour,” she said, her voice low, leaning over to place a chaste kiss on the girl's cheek.
Emily just smiled, a light blush appearing on her cheeks as she began to drive.
“No, shut up! A carnival? I didn’t even know they were doing one!” JJ jumped out of the car, excitement rushing through her. The sounds of people’s laughter mixing with the sounds of the music made her eyes shine, and memories of her childhood flashed through her mind. Without skipping a beat, she grabbed Emily’s hand and practically dragged her through the entryway of the carnival.
Emily swore her heart tripled in size watching JJ the entire night. Seeing how happy she was made Emily melt. The way she squealed when she won a prize and sulked when she lost. Emily knew she’d made the right decision for their first date. Emily couldn’t quite grasp how she’d gotten to this point; it’d been so long since she’d felt this comfortable around somebody. JJ made her feel safe. Safe enough to open up and let her walls down. The night on the beach changed everything; that’s when she knew there was something else between them.
"Hey, let’s go on the Ferris wheel; one last ride before we go,” Emily said, leading the way, holding on tightly to JJ's hand.
The two of them hopped into a carriage, scooting closer together so their bodies were flush against one another. Emily wrapped her arm around JJ's shoulder, pulling her in closer. JJ naturally leant against Emily, leaning her head on the girl's shoulder; the movement not even a second thought.
“Have you enjoyed yourself?” JJ questioned, resting her arm loosely along the front of Emily’s legs, trying to get closer to her, not wanting to lose the feeling of the brunette against her.
“I have, actually; it’s been a lot of fun. Who knew you were so competitive?” Emily smirked, moving so she could look at JJ's face.
JJ pulled back slightly, so she was looking up at Emily. “Yeah, look, it’s not my best quality,” she said, smiling up at her.
Emily tucked a loose strand of hair behind JJ's ear; the wind picked up speed the higher their carriage got. It was useless because the wind kept blowing her hair everywhere. Emily laughed, eventually cupping her face with both her hands, holding her hair completely off her face. “I tried,” she whispered lowly through a giggle.
JJ let out a sigh that was filled with content. The feeling of Emily’s hands on her face gave her a sense of comfort she’d never felt before. She leant forward, capturing Emily’s lips in hers, her body automatically leaning forward, a natural pull between them.
Emily’s hands moved from JJ's face and into her hair, pulling it ever so lightly as she deepened the kiss. She groaned against JJ's lips when the girl's hand rested on her thigh, playing with the hem of her dress.
The kiss was slowly getting more heated between the two women, neither of them realising that they’d reached the top of the Ferris wheel and were already coming back down.
“Fuck, we totally missed the view,” Emily chuckled, pulling away from JJ. She let out a deep breath, attempting to calm her insides. She was feeling quite overwhelmed; they’d never kissed like that before. Not overwhelmed in a bad way, though. Never in a bad way. Not when she was with JJ. JJ giggled, wiping the corner of her own mouth with her thumb. Emily had to close her eyes to stop them from rolling to the back of her head at the sight of the simple, innocent act.
A smirk flashed across JJ’s mouth as she watched Emily try to compose herself. “I think I prefer what we were doing,” she said, as she laced her fingers with Emily’s so that when their carriage stopped, she could lead them both out without losing contact with each other.
JJ pulled up in front of Emily’s building, parking her car. “I’m walking you to your door before you try to tell me you don’t need me to,” JJ stated, undoing her seat belt. Her eyebrows knitted together when she noticed Emily wasn’t listening to her; her mind was elsewhere. “Hey, what’s up?” She worried, placing her hand on Emily’s leg.
Emily shook her head, regaining her focus. “Oh, sorry, no, I was just thinking,” she said, trying to move past her thoughts.
“What were you thinking about?”
Her face screwed up slightly, letting out an awkward laugh. She was hesitant to say what she was thinking, but JJ's comforting smile eased her fears of rejection. “I was just thinking, I don’t want the night to end. I was going to invite you inside, but I didn’t want you to think I was like, trying anything.” She was doing her usual nervous rambling, not being able to look at JJ directly.
“I don’t think that at all, Emily. I mean, I wouldn’t be opposed if you did try, but I never get that impression from you. I feel safe with you.” JJ held her laugh in when Emily's eyes widened at JJ’s comment. “Want me to come inside?” JJ asked again, wanting confirmation from the nervous brunette.
Emily didn’t have any words; she just nodded. Her stomach tightened, processing what JJ meant: ‘I wouldn’t be opposed if you did try,’ she almost fell to the ground as they walked hand in hand to her apartment. Her hands shook as she fumbled with her key in the lock. She huffed out a shaky breath, turning to look back at JJ, holding the door slightly ajar. “I just- I, I wouldn’t be opposed either.”

Lover’s Lake–Steve Harrington
Tumblr media
Wattpad Request by Silver9860
Warning: Season 4 Spoilers
"You can't be serious," Robin sighed as Steve started taking off his shoes.
"Somebody's gotta go down and check this out," Steve sighed. "Unless one of you three can top being Hawkins High swim co-captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, then it's gotta be me. No complaints, alright?"
I stopped him before he could jump in. He sighed when he saw the look on my face.
"Please," I whispered. "Don't do this, Steve."
"I'll be fine," he whispered.
"But," I stuttered. He leaned over and gently pressed his lips to mine. When he broke the kiss, he smiled.
"I promise."
As he stood up, I glanced over right as Nancy looked away. I wrapped my arms around myself as Steve got ready to dive in. I held my breath as he dived into the lake. The entire time he was in the lake, the more nervous I got.
Suddenly, Steve broke through the surface.
"Did you see anything?" Robin asked.
"Yeah," he chuckled. "You could say that. There's another gate."
"Another gate?" Nancy asked.
"Underwater? Is that possible?" Robin asked.
"It could be. I guess," I stuttered, wrapping my arms tightly around myself.
"The things that cross over could be able to. . ."
Before Steve could continue, something dragged him under.
"Steve!" I screamed. We all looked over the edge, struggling to find any sign of him.
"Do you think someone should. . ."
Before Robin could say that someone has to go down, I ripped off my jacket and grabbed the flashlight out of Nancy's hand.
"Y/N, wait. . ." She tried to stop me.
Before she could, I dove into the lake. I could see Steve struggling against whatever it was that was dragging him down. I kicked my legs faster, ignoring the burning in my lungs. When Steve saw me, his eyes widened and he shook his head.
As I got to him, I grabbed his shoulders and pulled him so we were level. Still holding onto him, I kicked the creature with its tail wrapped around Steve's ankle. It took a couple of tries, but it eventually let him go.
The second that Steve was free, he wrapped his arm around my waist and swam to the surface. We finally broke through the surface, both gasping for air. Steve kept his arm wrapped around my waist and swam us over to the boat.
Robin and Nancy leaned down and helped me back onto the boat. As they helped Steve, I wrapped my arms around myself.
"What were you thinking?!" Steve yelled the second he was back on the boat.
"You were dragged under," I stuttered.
"Then send Robin or Nance," Steve instantly said. "Not you!"
"Whoa," Robin said, trying to calm him down. "Chill, Steve. It's not a big deal."
"She could've drowned!"
"She saved your life," Nancy tried to help.
"She doesn't know how to swim."
At that comment, everyone looked at me.
"What?"
"Are you serious?"
"If you can't swim, why did you dive down?"
"I think that's hilarious," Eddie laughed.
"No," Steve cut off his laughter. "It's not hilarious, Eddie. She could've gotten herself killed."
"You tried," Eddie scoffed.
"What?"
"You dove into the water, almost getting killed, and didn't even bat an eye," Eddie continued. "But when Y/N does it, you freak. It's backward, man."
"I can swim," Steve said. "She can't."
"You know," Robin sighed, "she's right here. Freezing her ass off for you, dingus."
I looked away as Steve looked at me. I wrapped my arms around myself, trying not to shiver. I heard him sigh, but I didn't look up. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him bend down and pick up my jacket that I threw before jumping in after him. Steve didn't say anything as he wrapped it around me.
"Let's just get back to shore," he sighed. "Before the kids send out a search party."
"Or worse," Nancy said knowingly, "they become the search party."
The entire way back to the shore, Steve didn't say anything. He and Eddie steered the boat while Nancy, Robin, and I sat in the front. We were halfway there when I noticed Nancy and Robin glance at each other. They then scooted closer to me.
"You okay?" Robin whispered.
"Sure," I scoffed. I looked over my shoulder, quickly looking away when I saw Steve glaring out at the water.
"He hates me," I whispered, my voice breaking.
"He doesn't hate you, Y/N," Robin said quickly. "Right, Nancy?"
"Of course he doesn't hate you," Nancy sighed. "He's just. . . Steve is. . . Well. . ."
"Nancy," Robin cut her off. "Some words of wisdom would be nice."
"Sorry," Nancy stuttered. She cleared her throat before finally finding her words. "Look, Y/N, Steve has always been protective. He doesn't care about what happens to him. He cares about what happens to you. He thinks it's his job to protect you. When you jumped in after him, knowing you can't swim, he felt like he failed. That's why he's mad, Y/N. He's mad at himself. Not you."
                                * * * * *
When we got back to shore, the kids helped us dock. Eddie jumped off and helped Robin, Nancy, and me out of the boat. When he helped me, he whispered, "Don't worry. He'll cool off."
"I hope so," I whispered back.
"So?" Dustin asked.
"Did you guys find it?" Lucas asked.
As the others explained to the kids what we found, I started to walk away. I wrapped my arms around myself and slowly started walking back to Skull Rock. I sat down on a small boulder, struggling to hold back my sob.
"Y/N?" Came a panicky Steve. I looked up to see him jogging toward me. I stood up, instantly wrapping my arms around myself.
"Look," I stuttered, "about what happened out at the lake. I know I shouldn't have. . . I just. . ."
I gasped when Steve pulled me into his chest, tightly wrapping his arms around me. He pulled out of the hug and smiled sadly at me. He gently rubbed my arms, either trying to warm me up or comfort me, but it did both.
"I'm sorry," he whispered. "I shouldn't have gotten so angry."
"I'm not going to apologize for trying to save your life," I mumbled.
"Trying to?" Steve teased. "You did save my life, Y/N."
His smile slightly faltered. He reached down and grabbed my hands. He squeezed them, slightly pulling me closer.
"I know it's hypocritical," he sighed, "but you putting yourself at risk like that. . . Even for me. . . Y/N, you could've drowned."
"I didn't even have to think about it," I shrugged. "You got sucked under so I jumped in. I didn't think about how I couldn't swim until after we got back on the boat."
Instead of responding, Steve pulled me into his chest and pressed his lips to mine. I let out a small moan as I started kissing him back. Before we could get too carried away, I broke the kiss.
"You wanna know something?" I smirked up at him.
"What?" Steve chuckled.
"I would be lying if I said I've never wanted to come to Skull Rock with the Steve Harrington."
Steve laughed as he pulled me in even closer to his chest, his face inches from mine. He pressed his nose to mine as he whispered something that sent chills down my spine.
"I wish I brought you here in high school."
"Well," I cleared my throat. I bit my lip, hesitating.
"What?" Steve chuckled.
"We're here now," I shrugged. Steve smirked as he grabbed my hand. I laughed as he pulled me to the other side of the rock.
Steve leaned down and pressed his lips to mine. As our lips moved in sync, Steve slowly walked us until my back hit Skull Rock. I moaned as the kiss started getting heavy. Without breaking it, Steve leaned down and grabbed my leg, wrapping it around his waist.
Steve finally broke the kiss and immediately started kissing my neck. I leaned my head against the rock, struggling to stop my moans.
"Shit!" We both gasped at the same time when we heard the others coming back. Steve looked at me and smirked.
"Maybe next time," he whispered. He dropped my leg and grabbed my hand. I could feel my face burning as we walked around the rock.
"Where's Y/N and Steve?" Dustin asked just as we came into view.
"Relax, man," Steve sighed. "We just went down the path to talk."
"Talk," Eddie challenged. "Yeah right."
I looked over to see Robin smirking at me. She crossed her arms over her chest as she raised an eyebrow at me.
"Still think he hates you?"
Steve looked at me confused. I sent him an embarrassed smile before rolling my eyes.
"Shut up, Robin."
Steve pulled me closer, making me look away from our smirking friends. "You thought I hated you?" He whispered.
"No," I stuttered. "I mean. . . I thought you were angry."
"I was," Steve confessed, "but not with you, baby. I just. . . I get stupidly protective."
"That's what Nancy said," I chuckled. Steve just smiled as he wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me close to his chest.
"For the record," I whispered, "I like when you're stupidly protective. It makes me feel stupidly important."
Steve laughed as he leaned down and pressed his lips gently to mine. I didn't need to hesitate before I started kissing him back. When we were both out of breath, he broke the kiss.
"There is nothing stupid about how important you are to me, Y/N."
"And there is nothing stupid about how important you are to me, Steve."

𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 || Steve’s life takes a quantum leap when he finds you unconscious on the beach.
𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 || ANGST (with a happy ending)
This is the second part of six feet under.
I know I broke your hearts, so here comes the second part to mend it! I hope you love this!
Tumblr media
“You are my mission.”
Steve felt as if the walls of his heart were pricked by a thousand needles. It ached too much for him to bear. Unable to look in your eyes, he cried in his own palms.
The Asset wasn’t built to show emotions, but you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion at the picture in front of you; your mission had just dropped down on his knees and was pathetically sobbing.
Why wasn’t your target fighting. You were informed that he was great at hand combat but not really outstanding with guns. So why wasn’t he attacking you as expected. Why was he showing you his back in surrender?
You were told what to do if the mission fought. But you weren’t informed what to do if he just... surrendered.
Walking close to your mission where he was crouching down, you stared at him for a moment. You weren’t wearing your combat gear, and neither was he. You both were instead dressed in far from modest clothes.
You didn’t know why, but you couldn’t bring yourself to harm him in any way. With the way he was trusting you, you could’ve killed him within seconds. But yet your heart somehow ached at his situation.
When he didn’t even look up, you nudged his thigh with your left foot. When your mission finally looked up, his eyes were bloodshot and he was incessantly crying.
“Fight me.” You said as he just stared at you. Your blank gaze terrified Steve more than any alien or villain ever had. You didn’t know why, but you wanted him to fight you. You weren’t able to attack him if he just gave up.
Steve blinked his eyes as he took in your words. Why weren’t you killing him? He had surrendered to you and yet you were just looking back at him instead of fighting. Why did you want him to fight you?
“No.” Steve had never thought love would be his weakness. Or maybe he had never truly realised it. Steve loved Bucky as a friend and had rained hell when his friend was in danger.
And here he had signed off his soul in your name. He would literally bring you the moon and stars if you asked to. And he would bare his throat for you to slash through. But he couldn’t possibly ever hurt you.
“I said fight me.” Steve Rogers, your mission was supposed to fight you. Not just sit down and take whatever you gave him. You didn’t know why you were angry at his lack of self preservation.
What happened next was within the blink of an eye. Steve’s arm shot up and curled around your wrist. And with a quick pull, he pulled your entire body down.
His agility took you by shock and before you could react, you were down on the ground pressed against the floor with him straddling you. Taking both of your hands in his, he pinned them above your head, making sure you were immobile.
You were royally fucked. Your handlers wouldn’t take it lightly if you messed up. And that was if you reached them in one piece. Chances were you were gonna die here, right under Steve Rogers.
You opened your mouth to bite and hiss and Steve took the opportunity and dove right in. You stilled with surprise when you felt the captain’s plump lips right against yours. This man was super insane.
You mercilessly but his lower lip and ended up drawing blood. But as soon as he started licking in your mouth with his tongue, you melted right on the spot.
The warmth of his mouth slowly brought back the warmth of your memories. Steve felt you go pliant under him for some moments before you started fiercely kissing him back.
You entwined your fingers with his and gently pressed your tongue against the bite mark on his lips. You didn’t notice the tears that slipped through your eyes and how they mixed with Steve’s own tears falling against your face.
“Steve.” You called his name just like you always did. With love and belonging. He opened his eyes to see you staring right back at him with your lively eyes.
Steve had never been happier before. Pressing his forehead against yours, he just breathed you in for a moment. “Steve.” Your hand was now caressing his face.
Your eyes peering into each other were enough to convey the million thoughts you had and the thousand things you wanted to say. Pressing a loving kiss to your forehead, he got up and you followed him.
You both sat on the floor with your legs crossed, you kept some space between you two. “I’m… I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Steve repeated as he broke down once again.
You hushed him and held him in your arms until he calmed down. “I shouldn’t have done that, but… but I wanted to know.” Steve couldn’t ever forget how your face had morphed into that of betrayal as he recited the words.
“But I want to know one thing. Do you love me? Or… or is it some tactic of hydra to ruin me?” You wanted to slap Steve for asking this stupid ass question. Of course you loved him!
But then you realised where he was emotionally. If you were in his position then maybe even you would fear the same. “It’s real Steve. It’s definitely real.”
You framed his face with your hands and caressed your thumb over his cheeks. “Steve, I love you. And by ‘I’, I mean Y/N and Soldat. My soul belongs to you, no matter it’s name.
How can you doubt our love when it was the only thing that brought me back?” It was true, you wouldn’t have remembered anything if Steve hadn’t kissed you.
You could see the colour fill in Steve’s face. He pulled you in a bear hug and held you tight. “I love you. I love you.” Steve chanted in your ear just like before.
Once you were both calm enough to think straight, you decided to go out on the beach. You sat in the sand with your head tilted on Steve’s shoulder as the sea breeze kissed your wet cheeks.
“I barely remember who I was before all this Steve. I can only remember glimpses of the shield and the avengers. I’m no more the Y/N you once saw.”
Steve was silent as he listened to each and every word of yours. He wanted to say so many things back, but he knew he had to listen to you first.
“But I remember how they took me Steve. It was probably my third official shield mission and we had all thought that base was not active. But when we broke in, the operatives were waiting just for us.
It was trap and we fell willingly into it. The others managed to escape, but… but I couldn’t. And they took me Steve. I… I waited for you people.
I still remember shivering in that cold cell all alone, praying for you to find me. But you never came. And with time I just kept forgetting until I couldn’t remember anymore.” Your voice cracked yet you kept going.
“Even after you retired, you still were hydra’s number one target. It’s almost personal now. It took them some time, but they finally traced you and they knew you were alone.
I was supposed to use a boat as long as I was out of visibility and then swim till the shore so that you wouldn’t notice me. But I miscalculated the current and the rocks on the shore.
After I abandoned my boat, I jumped into the water and got caught in the water currents. It was a terrifying experience, just spinning wildly underwater as the water took you.
But I was oddly at peace as I thought finally I would be free. But then I hit my head on the rocks and got washed up. And I woke up remembering absolutely nothing in your warm bed.”
“I’m sorry.” Steve couldn’t ever forgive himself for all that had happened to you. He was sure shield must have tried their best, but he couldn’t help but feel guilty.
“Don’t be. It wasn’t your fault. I’m sure they must’ve tried.” You both sat quietly staring at the calm ocean which reflected the night sky.
“Do you still love me?” You asked with a dejected sigh. “I’ll always love you.” Steve replied pulling you closer. “Even after knowing who I am and what I was here for?”
“You could’ve easily completed your mission. I know you are capable enough of doing that. But, you did not. You couldn’t harm me even when I openly surrendered to you.
So yes, I still very much love you and I’ll stay by your side forever.” The last word pierced through your heart like a knife. You couldn’t give him what he wanted.
“Steve, I… I have to go.” Steve looked at you quizzically. “Where?” You gulped audibly before meekly replying, “Hydra.” You could feel his body tense.
“You aren’t going back there, no matter what.” You wanted to believe Steve’s words, but you knew that couldn’t happen.
“I’ve tried to run away. So many times. But they always find me. They’ll find me this time too. And if they find me, they’ll find you too and I can’t let that happen.
I won’t be able to live if something happened to you. I’ll never forgive myself. And that’s why I need to go.” If this sacrifice was going to keep Steve safe, then so be it.
“Nothing will happen to me. And if they come, we will fight them. Together. And nothing and no one can stop us if we are with each other. Stay with me, please!”
You kissed his cheek to stop him from pleading anymore. You couldn’t tolerate the man you loved begging you. “I’ll… I’ll stay with you. I promise.”
Steve hugged you so tight, you wondered if you broke some bones. But being in the arms of the man who loved you, felt better than heaven itself. It was a different kind of a feeling, one that no words could ever describe.
“Steve, what do you think about Paris? I’ve always wanted to go there.” You asked as you both sat silently on the beach, basking in each other’s presence.
“I’ve always thought about visiting Louvre too. But I never really got the chance.” Even as a sickly kid, Steve wanted to get mesmerised by the art in the famous museum.
“And what about Sydney? Or Amsterdam? Or Barcelona?” Your eyes lit up like an excited kid. “What about all of them?” Steve jested.
Steve wanted to travel the world too. In a sense he already had, but it was always for some mission and never for the sake of relaxation. “Yeah, we could do that!” You exclaimed as if the thought hadn’t occurred to you.
It would be a new beginning for both of you. A new life away from your tainted past. A fresh canvas to paint with the colours of your own choice. A much needed restart that both you and Steve needed.
“What are we waiting for? Let’s pack our bags!”

Shortcut, Pt. 6
Back from my one-week-or-so-break!
A pact
The water rushed past him.
In and out, in and out.
To focus on his breathing was the only thing that kept Jon from freaking out. He was underwater, moving at what must have been at least 50 knots. All that kept him safe was a round canal in the palm of a mythical creature that shared its air with him and held him in place.
The most incredulous thing was that this wasn’t even the first time this was happening; And it didn’t help at all that last time, he was on the brink of death. The heavy, somewhat sweet taste of the air gnawed at his sense of past versus present.
In and out, in and out.
At least, Jon didn’t have the capacity to think about what was going to happen next.
In and out, in and out.
After an indefinite amount of time, he could feel Niphka slow down and change course. They dove upwards and Jon sucked in the cold air of the night. The adrenaline had made him immune to the temperature of the seawater, but as the wind grazed at his wet clothes, he shivered.
He now sat in Niphka’s palms, just a few inches above the water. She herself stayed below with only the upper half of her face visible. They slowly approached the shore until it was too shallow for her to swim much further.
Jon turned to her as she now sat upright.
“Where exactly are we? Are those lights Surivier?”
She shook her head.
“No, we are further West. I don’t know the name of the local towns, but we are about six days of travel West to where your ship took off. That’s all I can tell you.”
Jon noticed that he couldn’t quite bring himself to look her in the eye as they spoke. Maybe it was because she now appeared much larger than when they had spoken on the island. Back then, she had mostly been above the water from her shoulders up, but now, almost her entire torso was above the surface. Her dark figure seemed to be one with the night sky around her. The wind was getting colder.
“Right. I guess I’ll have to go on my own from here on, huh?” He tried to give her a smile, but it wouldn’t quite want to come out. As his eyes wandered towards the shore, Jon winced at the thought of having to swim there. The aches in his body reminded him that he would have to go easy on physical activity for a while.
Niphka didn’t answer.
“Well, I… I don’t know what to say but thank you. You’ve-”
“Don’t-,” she interrupted. “Don’t thank me. At least not yet.”
Now she had his full attention. Her heard her sigh, and the ground beneath his naked feet became unstable as her fingers curled inwards.
“I said I can take you home, all the way to Millersby. There is something you have to know.” She took a deep breath.
“Centuries ago, a hero made a pact with the Balaen to help in battle. He was a descendant of the God of the sea, so we came to his call. As he grew stronger, he grew more powerful. Battle after battle, he called us for help, and we came and destroyed his enemies. He became feared by everyone, and no one dared to set foot on a boat. We grew lonely, and we had become this demigod’s pawns. One day, he called again. He wanted us to strike his opponents on land. We made a pact to help him, under the condition that he gave up his powers over the sea and let us rule again. He agreed, and we rose from the water to fight on two feet. After we fulfilled our holy promise, we returned to the sea. We had made ourselves bound to one man, but through our struggle, we fought for the freedom of our home. And we won.”
Jon wondered when in his life the line between myth and reality had become so blurry. But since he found himself in the hands of a living, breathing myth, he shook those the thoughts away and tried to comprehend what Niphka was telling him.
“Does that mean, you can turn human and come on land?”
“No, I can’t. Not entirely. I’m still a being of the old times, from before the dawn of humanity. To be human is to contradict my essence. But,” she continued, “I can put myself under an oath to you, and if that oath requires me to walk on land, I will be able to do so.”
Without warning, she raised him to her eyelevel. Jon frantically clung to her fingers as he found himself high in the air. He heard his heartbeat in his ears when her large, black eyes forced contact with his.
“Do you understand what I am saying?”
He gulped and nodded heavily. When she continued to scrutinize him, he stammered,
“Y-Yes, I think so, I… ohgodspleaseputmedown!”
She blinked and snapped out of it. Her “I’m sorry” was barely audible.
Jon brushed his hands off his coat to cover for his nerves. “So, what do you need me to do?”
“The question is, what do you need me to do?”
He thought about it for a second.
“Will you bring me back home?”
She smiled and nodded.
“I, Niphka of the Balaen, promise you this, Jonathan P. Williams: I will bring you home, no matter the cost.”
Tumblr media
Niphka knew the gravity of her words all too well. Promises were a matter of the Gods, not easily given and even less easily broken. It was too late to look back now.
She remembered the feeling. As quickly as she could, she threw herself forward into the shallow water and moved closer towards the shore. She ignored Jon’s startled yelp as she stretched out her hand to get him onto his own feet, or rather, foot. He didn’t have his stick with him, but the waist-high water would hopefully keep him from falling over. When she saw the terrified look on his face when he turned around to her, it was like someone stabbing her. Why wasn’t he seeing what she was doing here, what she was putting herself under just to help him?? Okay, so maybe she hadn’t told him the whole truth, but she had good reason not to.
Niphka drew back again. Her skin tingled and she could feel it begin. In a matter of seconds, the force of the promise engulfed her body and turned her vision white. When she could see again, she – couldn’t see. It was suddenly much darker as her human eyes adjusted to the moonlight.
Well, not quite human eyes. Human-shaped eyes, yes. Just like her now human-shaped body. Everything about her had changed, save one thing: her size.

Little One pt.3
Here is part 3 my pretty's! Hope you enjoy! And as always my requests are open. Happy reading!
Paring- OT7 x Reader (poly)
Summary- Through your husbands line of work they take a week or more off to spend some time with their wife.
-------------------------------------------
You couldn’t tell if it was real or not, the sensation you were feeling was almost euphoric. Looking under the covers you saw the culprit. Jungkook was between your legs devouring you. You let out a moan to let him know you were fully aware of what he was doing.
He looked up at you.
“Good morning baby.” He smiled before continuing.
He knew you were close just by the tone in your moans.
“Cum baby, let go.” He whispered.
You cried out before releasing into his mouth.
He cleaned you up smiling at what he just did.
You pulled him up to cuddle you.
“Thank you Kookie.” You smiled, closing your eyes.
“Don’t go back to sleep,” he said, tickling you. “Breakfast will get cold then.”
Your head popped up at the thought of food. You got up, still naked from last night's activities. You went ahead and threw your robe on not bothering to put on clothes.
“Let’s go.” He said throwing you over his shoulder running to the dining room.
You were a giggling mess.
He finally put you down, your babies were already there waiting for you, they had dropped their suits for lounge wear. You liked seeing them like this.
“Took you long enough.” Yoongi said.
“We asked you to wake her,” Namjoon said.
“I did.” Kook protested.
“With his mouth.” You smirked digging into your breakfast.
They all groaned, wishing they had thought to do that.
Jungkook had the biggest grin on his face.
“No whining,” you said. “We have too much to do today before we leave.”
They nodded in agreement.
Once you all finished eating, they each took the liberty of cleaning up for you.
You were currently in your closet trying to pick out the best outfits for Italy. You knew not to over do it as they were no doubt going to spoil you.
You were looking at all your fancier dresses as you knew they would want nothing more than to party while on this vacation. You brought you short but high cut silver dress that drove Yoongi crazy but also your black dress with the all mesh skirt that had slits down either side. After choosing your shoes you made the final touches for lingerie and zipped up your suitcase.
You walked over to Namjoons room as he never knew what to pack, so being the good wife you were, you decided to get it out of the way for him.
After making sure everything was packed, you changed and decided to get in a few laps in the pool.
Walking out you noticed Taehyung had the same idea as you.
“Fancy seeing you here.” You smiled at him.
Hi my little dove.” He smiled up at you. “Hop in.”
“I think I like the view from over here.” You smirked sitting at the edge of the pool.
He instantly swam over to you. He stopped a few feet in front of you. You could sense the mischief in his eyes.
“Don’t you dare.” You warned him slowly going to get up.
But it was too late. He splashed you.
“KIM TAEHYUNG!” You shouted.
His eyes went wide, he knew he fucked up. He ducked under the water trying to swim away but you jumped in after him, catching him instantly.
“I’m sorry baby.” He said arms up in defense.
“Sure you are.” You said before dunking him underwater.
He quickly recovered. Shaking out his hair in your face.
You glare at him before swimming to the shallow end.
“Oh come on baby.” He pouted at you. “Don’t be like that.”
He pulled you closer to him. Wrapping your legs around him.
“I’m not falling for it.” You said trying to squirm out of his grasp.
“You know you wanna.” He said kissing your jaw and neck.
You knew he was right, you practically were putty in his hands. You just had to give in.
“Be quick about it,” you began. “Lunch won’t cook itself.”
“I’ll be quick.” He smirked, moving your bottoms to the side.
He slid in with ease. You moaned at the sensation. He was definitely thicker than the others. He set a quick and fast pace that would get you both off. It didn’t take long for that to happen. He was out of breath.
“Will you two get out of the pool?” Jin said a bit sternly. “We have things to do. That can all wait.”
Jin helped you out of the pool.
“I’m sure you want me twice as bad right now.” You said running a finger down his pants.
He shivered under your touch.
“Don’t tempt me, little one.” He gave you a hard look.
You just smirked running off after Tae.
Night was setting in and you had to be on a plane in 5 hours. You hand the luggage placed in front of the door doing a final count.
“I have 6,” you yelled. “Who's missing?”
“We’re coming!” Shouted Kookie and Jimin.
“Of course it would be you two.” Yoongi said.
“Play nice.” You glared at him.
He rolled his eyes.
“Only for you.” He cooed in your ear.
“You’ve gone soft.” Hobi said.
“Only for her.” Yoongi smiled.
“Okay, does everyone have what they need.” You smiled at them.
They all responded with yes. You couldn’t wait to spend time with them in Rome. You all piled into the limo and headed for your jet. Once the flight took off Kookie was already passed out. You smiled at him, caressing his cheek, making him smile in his sleep.
You moved your attention back to your book. It was a gift from Joonie, ever since you got it you could not put it down. You yawned.
“Get some sleep kitten.” Yoongi said, placing his hand on your thigh.
You nodded, soon falling asleep to him running circles on your thigh. You had woken up just in time for landing.
“Morning jagiya.” Jimin smiled. “We’ll be landing soon.”
Once off the plane it was about 1:30 in the afternoon. Everyone was tired over the 13+ hour flight. You just wanted to get to the villa and crash.
Pulling up to the place you were in awe. It was right by the water with a private beach. It was just you guys. The scenery looked out of a movie. You really picked a good place for this long week.
“The place is beautiful princess.” Taehyung came up behind you.
Walking in the place was huge. It had large windows, A giant kitchen. It was heaven. You took notice of the cats that walked around the back of the villa throughout the garden.
One in particular caught your eyes. She was black with a white spot in the shape of a heart on her forehead. She was gorgeous. Overlooking the garden it had a gazebo and waterfall towards the center. It was covered in roses. Moving on to the bedrooms there were 8 in total. The boys would each get their own room as you would yourself. Even though some of them would no doubt be sleeping in your room. You all were finally settling in but you were far from wanting to just sleep. You wanted to go out and explore, though you knew they wouldn’t let you out of their sight.
“I wanna do something.” you pouted, plopping down on the couch next to Namjoon.
“We’ll do things tomorrow baby.” Hoseok said.
“But I wanna go swimming.” you whined.
“Don’t start.” Jin warned.
“Fine.” you said getting up.
They assumed you gave in but you had other plans in mind. You slowly began undressing as you walked to the back door leading to the private beach.
“I’m going down by the water.” you called out not bothering to look at them.
“Oka- Y/N!” Jin yelled.
The yell caught all of their attention. You took that as your que to run for the water. The sun was already setting and thankfully you chose a place where no one would disturb you all. You were almost to the water, looking back you saw all seven of them running after you. As soon as the water hit your feet you dove right in, they all stopped right at the edge.
“Y/n get over here, Now!” Yoongi yelled.
“Cut the shit lets go.” Hobi said after him.
“Come in and get me.” you smirked, putting your head back and swimming a bit farther.
“You’re being a brat right now and I’m not having it.” Taehyung said.
“Come in daddy, the water feels nice.” you rubbed your hands on your breasts pushing them up a bit.
“That's it.” Yoongi said before throwing his shoes off and running in after you.
A hint of regret sank in as Yoongi was not one to get into water. You really were in for it now.
“Are we gonna do this the easy way or hard way?” he said with a growl.
You looked him in the eyes almost pleading and to say sorry.
“Don’t be shy now kitten, you’re in for it now.” he chuckled, lifting you over his shoulders giving your ass a hard slap.
Walking past the others they just chuckled at the look on your face. You looked to them for help, but nothing.
The trip up to your room seemed like it took forever, the hallway seemed to look longer than usual. As soon as you were in your room he set you on the bed still showing some kindness but that would soon be over with.
“I’m going to grab something and I expect you to be laid down and spread out for me.” he said power within his words.
To say you weren’t turned on was an understatement. You were dripping. The dom in Yoongi was what you lived for. Just thinking about what he was going to do to you made you moan.
He re-entered the room with silk ropes in his hand. You knew them all too well. He had brought them from home.
“Wrists kitten.” he said.
You held them up.
“So obedient.” he cooed, tying the ropes tight but not too tight.
“I’m sorry baby.” you pouted as he kissed down your body.
“Apologies won’t save you now, little one.” he said, kissing your thighs.
He ran a finger down your folds causing you to buck forward.
“None of that.” he said looking up at you.
He began teasing you, his mouth was of an expert. He knew you were about to come just by how whiny you were getting. He stopped as soon as you were about to let go.
You let out a groan. Only to be flipped over.
“What did I tell you?” he said climbing on you, pulling you up by your hair causing you to moan. “You come when I tell you.” he let go of your hair.
You had arched your back waiting for him to do something.
“Yoongi?” you began. “Are you still the-” you yelled out at the feeling of him entering you.
“You really need to start behaving kitty.” he groaned, slapping your ass.
“But II-I like riling you up.” you moaned out best you could.
“Yeah?” he asked, picking up the pace.
You cried out.
“Be. A good. Girl.” he said between thrusts. “And you might be able to come.”
He kept pounding into you, you were sure the whole villa could hear you.
“I’m close baby.” you whined out.
“Hold on kitten, I'm always there.” he breathed out.
You were a moaning mess.
“Cum kitty.” he said running circles on your clit.
You screamed out reaching your high, soon after he followed with his.
He crawled up to you, untying your wrists.
“You really gotta listen baby.” he caressed your face.
“I just wanted to have some fun.” you pouted.
“I know,” he said. “Take a nap and I'll get you when dinner is ready.”
You nodded while closing your eyes. He smiled and kissed your head.

Rick flag x reader/punchline where the team are walking through the forest and she splits up a little bit from the rest of the team because she gets distracted by something pretty or cute and falls into a river but she's never learnt how to swim, including blackguard in a way aswell please?💕💕
River - Rick Flag x Reader
A/N: I added some hints in this fic as to what might be up next for the series, let me know if you spot any! I set this in my Rick Flag series, which you can read here. All my fics in the series are one-shots, but feel free to read the whole series for maximum enjoyment. Requests are open!
Tumblr media
...
It’s a nice day out.
You and Rick, plus Blackguard and Harley (your favorite group) were patrolling what looked like a fairytale forest, though you were all too aware of the dangers within. Harley was having the time of her life, skipping through the moss, and even Rick seemed less dour than usual.
...In the background, though, a sparkling river began to catch your eye - and you hummed, glancing around at the group.
“I’m... gonna check something out.”
“Want me to come with you?” asked Blackguard, and you shook your head, trying not to grin.
“I’m flying this one solo, Hertz.”
He looped his fingers through yours, and you held on, just for a moment, until you noticed Rick eyeing you.
You cleared your throat, starting off for the river. You didn’t really need to check anything out. This time, your mission was a selfish one.
...To tell the truth, it'd been a long, long time since you'd glimpsed your reflection.
At the ballet academy you'd grown up in, it had been all about reflections - how you looked, how much you weighed. Things were so different now.
Still, it was a comfort to see that you had not changed, even if everything else did - you still looked the same.
Looking too closely, though-
You tumbled in.
I can’t swim, you thought desperately, I can’t swim, I can’t swim-
You tried to scream, but all that came up were little bubbles.
You were going to die, you thought, in the dumbest way possible.
...
"...Hey, has anyone seen Y/N?” Rick asked.
Blackguard shrugged, confusion knitting his eyebrows together.
“She was with us when we landed, for sure-”
“She went to check something out,” Rick finished, the pieces falling into place. “Hertz, when did we last see her?”
“By the river, I think-”
Both men glanced at each other in mutual panic.
“You don’t think-” Rick started, grimly.
“No, man, she can swim-”
“She can what?” Harley asked, springing up behind them.
“Punch can swim, right?”
"No, she can’t!” exclaimed Harley. “Neither of us can- almost died that way, I swear-”
Instantly, Rick began sprinting in the direction he’d last seen you, Hertz struggling to catch up to him.
“Look, I’m sure she’s not-”
“What if she is?”
Rick arrived at the river, eyes searching for you - nothing. Just a quiet river...
And your body at the bottom of it.
Without hesitation, Rick dove to the bottom of the river, lifting your body up and carrying you to the banks. Blackguard watched, horrified.
“No... come on, no...”
“Be alive,” Rick chanted, beginning to do CPR on you. “Come on, don’t die on me, come on, come on-”
Miraculously, you wake - and Rick cries. He’s not ashamed. He cries, and Blackguard slumps beside him, and they’re both too emotional to care about anything else.
“You’re not dead,” says Rick, speaking the obvious truth. “...Why aren’t you dead?”
You and Blackguard look at him in confusion, and he shrugs.
“I’m sorry, does anyone else find it a little weird that you’re just... fine? How long were you underwater?”
“I don't know, Rick... seven minutes, maybe?”
“That’s pretty weird.”
You sigh, and Rick realizes he’s ruined the moment, as well as any chance he had with you.
“Sorry,” he said, awkwardly. “Well, uh... let’s go back.”

Totally and Completely in Love {Legolas x Reader}
A.N: I’m extremely proud of this. I’ve worked on it for two weeks and just really love it. I think it’s actually my favorite thing I’ve ever written, so it would mean so much to me if you guys let me know what you think of it.
Requested by Anon on Tumblr: Hey! Can I request a Legolas x (human)reader where the reader is on the quest with the fellowship and she gets a really bad fever along the way (my idea was she passes out and Legolas carries her and takes care of her - but that's just an idea, you can make it any way you wish!) and while she's in fever shaking and high temperature she accidentally admits her feelings for Legolas not even knowing what she says cause she's so very ill. With lots of fluff along the way - fluff in your fics is just amazing 🥺 OH AND plus Aragorn who's shipping them the whole time like he always does! I was thinking about this for a long time and I just had to request it! Thank you so so so sooo muchh ❤️❤️❤️ Lots of love!
Word Count: 4, 318 ....oops. My bad.
Pairing: Legolas x Reader
Summary: You catch a cold and Legolas takes care of you.
Warnings: Swears, sickness/fever
****
Totally and Completely in Love
You dove under the water, probing with your hands until you hit what you thought was an ankle. Yanking it, you felt the person attached stumble and join you under the water. You came up for air, laughing to see Merry spluttering as he recovered from his sudden dunking.
Leaving Rivendell some days previously, you had been excited for the journey and adventure you were about to embark on. Now, though, you were starting to feel a little worse for wear. After spotting the small waterfall and pool it flowed into, you and the hobbits had begged Aragorn to stop early for the day, desperate to wash up. After a lot of begging, he had finally agreed, and here you were.
Aragorn had wanted to get a more thorough grasp of the terrain if you were to be camping here, and Legolas and Gimli had volunteered to join him. Aragorn had rolled his eyes, knowing that he would spend a lot of time breaking up arguments and friendly competitions between the two, but they left. (You fondly recalled the time when, after a long day of walking, the two had started a competition to find the most firewood. It had ended with them having a tug-of-war with a large log while the rest of the group rolled around laughing at them, which doubled when Aragorn chopped the log in half, causing them each to fall back on their asses.) While they scouted, Sam got a fire going, and Boromir and Gandalf did who knows what, you and the other three hobbits had decided to go wash your clothes. Merry and Pippin had quickly started a fight, however, and upon seeing them in the pool with the mist spraying into the air, creating rainbows, you had stripped down to your underthings and joined them, determined to win, while Frodo looked on and called out advice from a nearby rock. It was freezing, uncomfortably so, but it was worth it to be able to feel even a little bit clean again.
“Nice one, Y/N!” he cried out now, nodding his approval as you dunked Pippin. You ignored the fact that as a human, you had a size advantage over the small hobbits, and proceeded to do a victory lap in the water.
Swimming around, you admired the natural beauty that you had somehow stumbled upon. Small cliffs rose around you, about the height of a small oak tree, sheltering the little lagoon. The waterfall cascaded down the rocks into the pool of shimmering blue water, which filtered out between a small gap in the rocks, forming a river. The green leaves of the trees were reflected in the water, giving it a teal tint, and the sun made the grains in the rocks sparkle. All of this gave the small area a truly ethereal look.
You were suddenly startled from your reverie by two hobbit-sized shapes crashing into you from above. While you had been admiring the scenery, Merry and Pippin had climbed onto the rocks to ambush you. Forcing your head underwater, they giggled as you came back up, gasping. Their amusement quickly turned to fear as you turned to them with a devilish glint in your eyes. You tackled them and smirked as their faces turned to twin looks of outrage. “What was that for?”
“You guys jumped me! I did what I had to do.” You leaned back in the water, very pleased with yourself as you heard a stifled chuckle from the nearby rocks.
“Oh, you think that’s funny, do you, Frodo?” Pippin was advancing on him now, looking comically angry. Merry grabbed him and whispered something in his ear that you couldn’t quite hear. Pippin nodded, his face turning serious.
“We should go back to the campsite, see if there’s any food.” Merry was now climbing onto the shore and tucking his shirt into his wet trousers.
“You just want to steal some of Sam’s stew before everyone else!” Pippin elbowed him. “And what if I do?” Merry set off running towards the campsite, Pippin following him with a curse and a shout of, “Now he’ll eat it all and there’ll be none left for me!”
You made your way onto the shore a bit more sedately. Once out of the water, you began shivering and hastened to get redressed. Frodo had looked away, blushing, when you climbed out of the water, and you teased him. “C’mon Frodo, everything important is covered!”
This was true, you had kept your wrappings over your chest on, as well as your other undergarments. “Still,” the hobbit kept his eyes averted as you tugged your tunic over your head, lacing it as you spoke, “it’s not proper.” You shook your head at him in pretend exasperation. “I’m decent, let us go see if Merry really did eat all the stew.”
Sitting around the fire with your companions, you would have been quite content had you still not been so cold. Sam’s stew had warmed you for a little while, but now you were hunched over in your still-damp clothes, shivering. “Are you all right, Y/N?” Legolas looked down at you from his perch on the log next to you, concern in his eyes. “Yes,” you nodded, teeth chattering. “Just cold.”
“Well, maybe Legolas could warm you up?” Aragorn winked at you.
“No!” you cried, and then leaned over and punched Aragorn’s arm.
“Ow! What was that for?” he exclaimed, but you just sat back, pleased with yourself, yet still shivering.
Legolas looked uncertain for a second, then wrapped his arm around your shoulders, bringing you close to his warmth. You unconsciously pressed closer against him, drawn to the heat emanating from his body. As you did, he stiffened. He then jumped up, leaving you sitting there, confused as he made his way over to his pack. Grabbing something, he came back over and held it out to you.
“You’re freezing because your clothing is soaked!” He informed you and the group of this. “Yes, Legolas, I know. I’m the one wearing the soaked clothes.” You attempted to say this deadpan, but it was ruined by the clicking sound of your teeth chattering.
“Well, I was thinking- I don’t have pants that’ll fit you, but you can wear my tunic.” He blushed. “It might be a little large, but at least it’s dry.”
“Oh, no Legolas, I’m fine, really.” You didn’t want him to notice how you were nervously playing with your hair, something you always did when embarrassed.
“Really, Y/N. Take it.” He shook it at you, and, sighing, you stood and grabbed it out of his hand. “Thank you, Legolas.” You made your way to the edge of the campsite, grabbing a new set of wrappings for your breasts before disappearing into the forest to change.
Behind a tree, you lifted the damp tunic over your head and rewrapped your chest with practiced ease. You then pulled Legolas’ soft tunic on. It was rather large on you, falling a little lower on your legs than yours usually did. It hit your waist at a nice angle, however, accentuating it nicely. The real issue was the neckline. It had no laces and was much deeper than you usually wore, exposing a lot more skin than you were used to. After unsuccessfully trying to close the v-neck in some way, you gave up and just prayed no one would look too closely.
Walking back into the campsite, you draped your wet tunic over your pack, hoping it would dry overnight.
“I feel much warmer now, thank you.” You sat back down on the log next to Legolas. His eyes drifted across your body, taking in the sight of you in his clothes. “It looks good on you.” He blushed, and you tucked a piece of loose hair behind your ear, feeling rather pleased by the compliment.
“Hey, lovebirds!” came a shout from across the fire. Boromir was sitting with Merry and Pippin and was unwrapping something encased in leaves. You quickly scooched apart from Legolas, fidgeting, and craned your neck to see what Boromir had.
“What is that?” Legolas was just as curious, and just as embarrassed.
“While you were all off doing stuff earlier, I went and gathered some berries!” Boromir finished unwrapping them and held them up triumphantly. You could see strawberries and blueberries spilling out onto the leaves, and licked your lips in anticipation. After taking a few, Boromir passed the pouch around the fire, and everyone took a couple. You bit into a strawberry, savoring the sweetness.
“These are delicious, thank you, Boromir.” Aragorn was trying to speak around a mouthful of blueberries, which just caused the blue juice to run down his chin. Soon, you were all giggling at each other devouring the fruit, not caring if any got on your faces. Even Gandalf had a streak of blue running into his long grey beard, a fact that amused Pippin greatly. Finished, you leaned back with a sigh, patting your stomach with satisfaction.
“Thank you, Boromir. Truly, they were a wonderful treat.”
“Happy to, Y/N!” And indeed he did look pleased to see everyone enjoying something he had done for them.
You made your way down to the waterfall, this time accompanied by the whole Fellowship except Gandalf, who had stayed behind to tend the fire. You all splashed water on your faces to clean them of the sticky berry residue. You were careful to just get your face wet, not wanting to dampen Legolas’ tunic, but even with just your face you still got really cold again. Shivering, you turned and walked back to the campsite, admiring the stars shining above the foliage.
Reaching the campsite, you walked over to your bedroll and dragged it closer to the fire. Not so close that people would be worried, but close enough that you could hopefully soak up the meager warmth as the flames dwindled into embers overnight. You climbed in under your blanket and curled up in a ball to preserve as much body heat as possible. Lulled by the crackling of the fire and the soft murmurs of your friends getting ready for the night, you drifted off to sleep, grateful that you weren’t on the watch list that night.
“Y/N. Wake up, it’s time to go.” You were shaken awake the next morning by Legolas, who smiled at you fondly before moving on to help pack up. Stretching, you sat up and immediately recoiled. Your head hurt. And you were cold. And also somehow hot. And you felt a tad bit woozy. But you were fine, you didn’t want to hold up the journey, so you gathered the courage and emerged from your bedding, rolling it up and packing it away as you hissed in discomfort.
Walking across the campsite, your arm was grabbed by Aragorn, who pulled you off to the side. “Are you ok? You look out of sorts.” It was true, you were shaking a little bit with chills, but he didn’t need to know that.
“Oh, I’m completely fine, Aragorn. Don’t worry about me!” You faked a smile in an attempt to prove that you were, as you said, fine. Pulling your arm out of his grasp, you shouldered your pack and set off behind Boromir.
As the day went on, you felt fainter and fainter. One second you would feel like you were a furnace, the next you thought you’d never be warm again. It was taking all your energy to focus on simply putting one foot in front of the other, but you kept going, determined not to be the cause of any delays.
After you had stopped for lunch, Legolas drifted to the back of the group to walk with you. Noticing your shakiness earlier, he had decided to check on you.
“Are you alright, Y/N?” His gaze met yours, and the touching concern in his eyes almost made you stumble, although to be fair anything could have made you stumble, you were so tired at this point.
“Why does everyone keep asking me that? Seriously, Legolas, I’m fi-” Your body finally gave up on you, and you passed out. The elf was not expecting this and tried to catch you as you fell, succeeding only in slowing you down so that you hit the ground gently, cradled in his arms. Feeling your forehead, he sucked in a breath of shock.
“She’s burning up.” He informed the rest of the Fellowship, who were all gathered around the two of you like a bunch of concerned mother hens.
“We cannot stop yet.” Aragorn looked worried.
“I will carry Y/N until we camp for the night.” Boromir volunteered. Had you been conscious, you would have protested being carried at all. You wouldn’t have cared who you were carried by. But someone else did.
“No, Boromir. I’ll carry her.” With this Legolas scooped you into his arms, startling Boromir with his determination. Aragorn just smirked. “Let us continue, then.” And they set off, you in Legolas’ arms, head resting against his chest.
Legolas heard Pippin softly asking Aragorn questions as they moved. “I don’t understand, why did Y/N catch a cold but we did not?”
“Hobbits are hardier folk than us humans. You can withstand much harsher conditions. It is why I did not join you in the water, and I have elvish blood, so it would not have been as bad for me as it is for Y/N.” The elf secretly did not know much about humans and their sicknesses, so he found this explanation rather helpful.
Legolas kept looking down at you, marveling at how, even sick, you looked so peaceful. You wore a faint smile as if you were having a pleasant dream.
“Legolas?” You whispered, squirming in his arms. He jolted at the sound of his name coming out of your mouth.
“Y/N? Are you awake?” He brushed your hair out of your face and saw that your eyes were still closed. He figured it was just you having a dream about the Fellowship, his name just happened to be the one you mentioned. Then you spoke again.
“I love you, Legolas.” He stopped in shock as you shifted in his arms again.
“You love me too? That’s good.” You sighed, wiggling your nose in that cute way Legolas liked, head still resting against his chest.
The elf, meanwhile, was standing there. Dumbstruck, with you fast asleep in his arms, he stood there until an unsuspecting Gimli crashed into him from behind.
“Lad! Yeh don’t just stop in the middle of the path! Keep moving!”
Legolas was still too shocked to come up with a retort, so he silently stepped to the side, letting the dwarf pass. Aragorn was next but paused to get Legolas to keep walking. “Legolas. What is wrong? Do you grow weary of carrying Y/N?”
“No!” The elf turned away from Aragorn, fearing that the man would insist on taking you.
Aragorn backed up a step, hands in the air. “Very well then. If you are not tired, why are you so on edge?”
“Y/N was talking in her sleep.”
“So? What does that have to do with yo- Legolas, why are you blushing?!” The ranger looked very amused by the flushed elf. “What, exactly, did she say?”
“She, um, well- she said she loved me.” Legolas was trying very hard not to meet Aragorn’s eyes.
Meanwhile, Aragorn had a shit-eating grin on his face. “Well, that is wonderful news! Now the two of you can stop the ridiculous flirting and pining.”
“Aragorn- you do not think she could have meant it?” Legolas was now looking at his friend, and Aragorn could see the beginnings of hope in his eyes.
“Of course she meant it! She was having a dream, about you, and told you she loved you. How could it be any clearer?”
“Well, that’s just it. It was a dream. It probably did not mean anything.” As Legolas spoke, Aragorn saw him convince himself that it was not true. “Legolas.” The blond turned his head and looked Aragorn in the eyes.
“I believe that Y/N means what she said in that dream. I have seen it in the way she acts with you. If you do not, then I cannot convince you. But I will say- ask her about it when she wakes up. Just mention the dream.”
With that Aragorn sped up, leaving a conflicted, confused, and still blushing Legolas walking slowly at the back of the group.
“I think you should tell her,” came a voice from down near his elbow. Legolas’ gaze drifted down to focus on Merry, who had somehow appeared next to him while he was lost in thought. “Tell her what?” The elf tried to deny everything, but Merry wasn’t having it.
“Tell her that you love her!” The hobbit looked so earnest that Legolas couldn’t help but listen to him. Merry continued, “I know if I loved someone, I’d want them to know. Not even because we could lose our lives at any moment, just because I think they deserve it. It’s like in the old stories Mr. Bilbo used to tell. She deserves to know you love her, Legolas. Tell her before it’s too late.”
Struck by the serious set of the hobbit’s face, and emotions in his eyes, Legolas nodded. “All right then. I guess I’ll ask her tonight.” He looked nervous, but then his eyes drifted down to look upon your sleeping form, cradled in his arms, and his face softened.
“Don’t let Boromir or Gimli see you looking at her like that, though- they’ll think you’ve gone soft!” And with that, Merry bounded back up to walk with Pippin.
Legolas was again by himself (well, not entirely, you were still there, but that might not count because you were unconscious), left to mull over his thoughts. He had been bluffing with Merry, he was most certainly not going to ask you about your feelings for him that night, but reflecting on the hobbit’s words something struck him. You were all on a perilous quest, it would be better for you to know now. And he could just ask you about your dream, inquire after your sleep. He didn’t have to confess to anything unless you did- which he was sure wasn’t going to happen, who could love him? But it did sound like a decent plan, so he decided to go through with it.
Just as that thought of resolve crossed his brain, you stirred. Opening your eyes, you gazed blearily at the world around you until your gaze came to rest on the face above you.
Blinking, it came into focus. “Legolas? What- why are you carrying me? What happened?”
“You fainted, Y/N. We think you have a fever, you must have caught a cold from swimming yesterday.” He was still walking as he spoke.
“Ok. Well, thank you for carrying me. I can walk now.”
When he didn’t, you asked again. “I’m fine, Legolas. Really, put me down.”
He still refused to do so.
“Put me down, Legolas!”
Finally, he answered. “I will not. I will carry you until we camp tonight.”
Overhearing him, Aragorn called out back to you. “Well, it’s a good thing we just found a place to camp!”
“Frodo, would you mind grabbing me Y/N’s pack from Aragorn and just spreading out her bedroll so she can rest?” Legolas was walking over to a spot he thought you would like as he spoke. Frodo came over with your bedroll, laying it out on a nice, flat area of ground. As pleased as you were, you still had to protest.
“I do not need rest, Legolas. What I need is for you to put me down!”
Sensing that perhaps it was just best to do as you said, the elf gently eased you to your feet. The second you were standing, you started to feel dizzy, and the chills came back. You fell back into Legolas’ waiting arms, too tired to stand.
“Okay, fine, maybe I do need to rest.” You yawned as he lowered you onto your bedroll, tucking the blankets in around you. “But I don’t want to be here, away from everyone. Carry me over to sit around the fire.” You made a regal face as Legolas picked you back up. The fire was crackling in the center of the small clearing, and everyone else was gathered around as Sam served supper.
“So demanding,” he muttered under his breath, jokingly. “Oh!” You were playfully offended.
He set you down, wrapping your blanket around your shoulders before settling next to you. Sam passed you a bowl of stew, and you inhaled the scent of it.
“Rabbit and potato tonight?” You could always guess what was in it.
“How do you guess right every time?” Pippin was amazed.
“I guess I just have a refined, expert sense of smell,” you declared and dug into the delicious stew.
Sighing, you placed your bowl on the ground, empty, and leaned into Legolas’ side. He stiffened, surprised, before wrapping his arm around your shoulders and drawing you closer to him.
“How are you feeling?”
“Better, thank you. Still tired, but I’m not as cold.”
He nodded and looked back at your companions around the fire. Who, in fact, were all staring at the two of you. Again. You scooched away from the elf, realized just how cold it was away from his arms, and promptly moved back closer to him, burying your face in his chest to titters from the group around you.
“Oh, shut up.” You didn’t care, Legolas was warm and you were cold, it was as simple as that. Nothing else. Or at least, that was what you were telling yourself.
Later that night, after you had wobbled back over to your bedroll with the help of Merry and Pippin each propping you up on one side, you lay there, unable to sleep. You didn’t understand why- you were very tired, you just couldn’t sleep. Your tossing and turning must have caught the attention of the person, or rather, elf, on watch, as he came over and sat down next to you.
“Are you okay?” He looked worried.
“Fine. I just can't seem to fall asleep.” You sat up, now at eye level with the blond archer.
“Ah. Well, unfortunately, I do not know how to get you to sleep, but I can keep you company if that is all right.” You nodded, and the two of you sat there, looking up at the stars glowing in the sky, framed like a portrait by the foliage of the trees surrounding the clearing.
After a while, he spoke again. “Y/N, can I ask you something?”
You nodded.
“What were you dreaming about earlier?”
You tucked your hair behind your ear, embarrassed as you recalled the dream from earlier where you and Legolas had fallen in love. Deciding that denial was the best course of action here, you spoke. “I did not dream.”
“Y/N. You were talking in your sleep.”
Uh oh.
“What did I say?”
Now he was blushing. You internally prepared yourself for whatever embarrassing thing he was about to say, ready to deny your feelings.
“You, um… well, you said you loved me.”
You wouldn’t meet his eyes. “I’m so sorry, Legolas. It was just a silly, dream, it meant nothing, I don’t feel that way about you at all…” Babbling, your eyes went back to his face, unprepared for the depth of disappointment in his eyes and the sadness written there.
“You truly do not feel like that?”
After seeing his face, feeling the emotion conveyed in his voice, a small flame of hope lit in your chest. Taking a deep breath, you decided to be brave.
You took his hand, entwining your fingers with his as you took a deep breath. “I lied, Legolas. I love you.”
You saw the shock on his face. “It’s ok if you don’t feel the same, we can never speak of it again. We can go back to normal, this doesn’t have to be a big deal.” Your babbling was cut off by the elf.
“Y/N. I love you. Totally and completely, with every fiber of my being, I love you.”
Shyly, you reached your hand out and brushed his cheek.
“Really?”
“Really.”
“That’s good.”
He laughed. “You said that after I told you in your dream!”
“I did?”
He nodded. “Now, let’s see if you can get some sleep. It’s late.”
He moved so that you were between his legs, head resting on his chest as he leaned up against a rock. You snuggled in close, and he began rubbing circles on your shoulder. He began to softly hum, a tune you did not recognize but liked just the same. Lulled by his soft voice and the motions of his hands, you drifted into a deep, wonderful sleep.
Legolas sat there, you in his arms, marveling at the turn of events. A movement from Aragorn’s bedroll startled him, but he made sure not to wake you up. The ranger sat up, facing him.
“I told you so.” Aragorn winked at him, looking mightily pleased with himself.
“Well, now that you’re awake, you might as well begin your shift of watch!” Legolas looked triumphant and watched as the ranger sighed and rose, moving over to sit on a boulder that overlooked the whole camp.
“Get some sleep, Legolas,” Aragorn advised.
Careful to not wake you, Legolas moved so that he was lying next to you, arm wrapped around your waist and chin resting just above your head. He sighed and felt himself slowly drift off to join you, his beloved, in the land of sleep.

a day at the beach | l. juyeon
Tumblr media
🌊 pairing: juyeon x fem!reader 🌊 word count: 4k 🌊 genre: fluff, a lot of awkward flirting, kind of friends-to-lovers 🌊 tw: none, mention of the ocean and going underwater(?) 🌊 synopsis: you spend a day at the beach with your friends and it leads to something new. 🌊 a/n: my second and last work of the summer collab hosted by the lovely @bangchan-fairy ✿ i had a lot of fun writing it and I hope it'll be enough!
╰☆☆☆☆╮
You had forgotten how tiring it was to spend a day at the beach. Soaking and sweating under the sun, running around in the sand and play at different games in the water that have you tired at the end of the afternoon, but it was a good type of exhaustion. It’s the type of feeling where you could fall asleep at any moment, but you wouldn’t mind keep on playing and laughing either.
Laying on your stomach on your towel, you enjoyed the warm rays of sunshine drying the salty water on your skin. Hair was all over the place as you tried to tie it back to prevent it from going everywhere, but it was to no avail, so you gave up and stood up. Ruffling your hair to get rid of the sand trapped in it, you managed to tie it away from your face and neck, finally sighing in content as you could feel the wind caress the skin in the base of your exposed, sweaty neck.
The majority of your friends was still playing in the water, but you still had Kevin, Chanhee and Jacob resting on their respective towel. The eldest was peacefully holding a book, his free hand mindlessly caressing his stomach as his eyes followed along with the story with entertainment. You smiled at Chanhee when a familiar TikTok song erupted from his portable speaker, the action waking Kevin up as he was right next to him.
A few of your friends gestured you to join them in the water, but they all got negative answers. Hyunjae and Eric almost begged you to come, making big arm movements and yelling a bunch of begs until you finally gave in, earning cheers from your friends. You carefully jogged to the cooler, wet sand after tossing your cap and sunglasses on your towel. You let out a shriek when the water touched your feet, all your muscles contracting as your friends laughed at your shocked state.
“It’s so cold, what the hell!” you yelled as a small wave came and crashed onto your calves, sending goosebumps in your entire body as you expected the ocean to be a bit warmer, but kept going anyway. “Come on, Y/N, you can do it!” Juyeon yelled from where he was, dozens of meters away from the shore. Clutching your jaw, you progressively made your way into the water, smiling when the boys cheered again when you dove underwater. It was fresh, almost cold, but it felt uplifting, and most importantly, fun.
Once you reappeared at the surface, the boys were surrounding you and you laid on your back, feet hitting the water hard to splash them. A water fight broke out, and you sunk underwater to escape for a few seconds all the splashing and screaming from your friends.
It was your turn to scream underwater and resurface as soon as possible when two hands landed on your waist, softly gripping the flesh of your hips. You sharply turned around, only to find Juyeon laughing at your frightened face.
“Please never do that again,” you said half-laughing, half recovering from his malicious joke, some flashbacks of Jaws coming back into your mind for an instant. Pushing his gear down, mask and snorkel dangled around his neck, long black fins in hand, he stood next to you, breathing heavily as droplets of water fell on his face.
“Did you see something cool?” he nodded at your question, showing you the net bag attached to his wrist. He found a few colourful rocks, some trash, a few coins and two shells, one catching your eye.
“This one looks really pretty,” you pointed at the said shell, only to have Juyeon nearing his hand to yours. “Take it,” he mumbled, and you glanced at him, refusing with a gentle smile. “No, no, keep it,” you answered, and it was his turn to shake his head.
As your friend didn’t retract his hand and kept looking at you, you shyly took the shell in your hand and thanked him, gaining a smile from him before he got out of the water. Younghoon suddenly shrieked and whined when he felt some seaweed brushing his ankle, making everyone laugh, including you. Some of the other tourists were looking at your group from the side, not enjoying how loud you were becoming. You quickly noticed and quieted them, vaguely motioning to the elderly couple on the beach that was meaningly watching you.
“Are you already getting out of the water? It has only been a quick minute,” Eric asked as you walked closer to the shore, the waves almost making you lose your balance. “I’m coming right back, I’m just thirsty,” you claimed and ran back to your towel, feet burning under the scorching sand.
“Ah, Y/N! You’re here. The water is beautiful, and I’m trying to persuade the boys to come and snorkelling with me. Do you want to tag along?” “Okay, sure? Who’s coming?” you said, looking at the other boys on the beach as you grabbed a bottle of water from the cooler next to Jacob, who put the lid back on as soon as you were done. “The two of you,” Kevin smirked, his annoying, playful tone made you roll your eyes, Juyeon paying absolutely no mind to his comment. “Fine, let’s go,” you said before seizing the mask and snorkel Juyeon was handing you and you both ran back into the water.
“They’re cute,” Jacob mumbled, hand supporting his head as he went back to reading, the two other boys approving his words.
As you quickly tried to put on everything to catch up with Juyeon, he saw you struggling to put on your fins, so he gently grabbed your ankle to bring it closer to the surface. You quickly held onto his shoulder, your proximity with the young man making the other boys coo and gag. Almost hissing at them, you offered them a death glare while Juyeon simply smiled to himself, not paying attention to a single of their comments as he focused on securely tying your fins around your heels.
“Are we good to go?” he asked, and you signed ‘ok’ with your thumb and index finger before placing your head underwater.
You stayed near Juyeon, making sure to heavily splash your friends as you swam away from the coast. Feeling satisfied as you heard them complain. The water was getting progressively colder, feeling goosebumps rise on your skin, but the view was worth the chills. Your eyes trailed everywhere around you in the sand, in search of any kind of source of life through the translucid water.
Juyeon suddenly pointed at the ground, discerning a hermit crab making his way to a safer place, deeper in the sand. You smiled at the sight of the small creature, following its movements before watching disappear under the sand.
Your eyes widened in your mask when you saw Juyeon dive, bubbles coming out of his snorkel. He rummaged through the sand for a few seconds, before going straight back to the surface. You got your head out of the water, watching your friend blow the water out of his snorkel just like a whale. He held another shell, similar to the one he gave you.
“How do you notice those? I barely even noticed the hermit crab you pointed at,” Juyeon smiled as he spat some salty water out of his mouth, wiping it with the back of his hand.
“I remembered the spot I searched before coming back to you and the boys. I think it’s a good one, there’s a lot of beautiful things to look at,” he explained, and you nodded, waving at the boys on the beach with a smile. “Look, now we’re matching,” he said as he showed you his shell, a happy look on your face. “Keep it in a safe place,” you suggested while giggling, and he nodded, putting it in his bathing suit pocket before diving back to his searches.
For the remaining hours of the afternoon, you snorkelled with your friend, making beautiful discoveries all around the shore, such as another hermit crab. You gently picked it up from the shell and let it float around for a while, observing its behaviour as Juyeon dove even deeper. You had struggled to pick up the hermit crab because the sand looked way closer than it actually was, and the sensation of the salty water filling in your snorkel to the brim wasn’t the best feeling ever. When you reappeared at the surface, you expulsed all the water from the snorkel and stayed still for a while, moving your fins to keep your head above the water level, your body slowly following the waves.
You were amazed by how the ocean flora and fauna was beautifully hidden from the rest of the world. Letting yourself slowly sink deeper, the water pressure tightening around you, water filling your snorkel in big bubbles, but you didn’t pay much attention. Some small fish swam around you, speeding when you reached out a hand in an attempt to grab or touch them. Being underwater felt good and somewhat reassuring, the noises from outside were muffled by the thick layers of water surrounding you. It was as if you were receiving a big, reassuring hug from nature and nothing could actually happen to you.
As your lungs started running out of air, you felt a presence behind you, only to discover Juyeon observing you. Inside his goggles, you could see his worried eyes and furrowed brows, so you hastened to reassure him about your safety by signalling it with your fingers. He motioned you to go back up to the surface, and you followed him, slowly ascending face to face, his eyes never leaving yours as you stayed close to the other.
You let out a big sigh as you took off your snorkelling equipment, feeling suddenly heavy and tired. A hand running on your skin, you gently wet it to get rid of the marks that lingered on your face due to the tightness of the mask, smiling at your friend as he did the same, throwing his head back to replace his hair correctly.
“What were you doing down there? You got me scared, you weren’t moving. I thought something happened to you,” Juyeon asked as you slowly moved into the water and started getting closer to the shore, feeling the water getting progressively warmer. “I’ve always wanted to stay still in the ocean for a moment, and it felt super good,” you explained a bit out of breath as you were swimming, Juyeon touching the ground before you so he started walking, his flexed muscles tiredly moving as the waves pushed you two closer to the shore.
Almost all your friends were gone, only Jacob and Sangyeon waving at you from their spot on their chairs, just like two parents waiting for their kids to be tired and sleepy. You nearly fell over as you struggled to walk on the sand to get back to your friends, who were watching you out of the corner of the eye. Juyeon walked at your pace and rid you of your equipment when you joined your friends.
“Did you have fun together?” Jacob asked with a smile, hair slightly messy and dried because of the salt.
You tiredly nodded as Juyeon explained where you went and what you saw, still standing up with his hands on his hips as he sometimes pointed towards the ocean. Sangyeon smirked as he caught your eyes lingering on Juyeon's healthy body while listening to him, earning an elbow hit from you as you sat next to him, thanking him with a smile as he passed you your towel.
“I didn’t expect this to be this tiring, but it was a nice experience,” you admitted, and your friends laughed, a genuine smile appearing on Juyeon’s face. “You spent almost the entire day in the water, it’s normal to be tired,” Jacob said in his usual reassuring voice, handing you your bottle of water from the cooler. “Where did the other boys go?” Juyeon asked as he looked around, trying to see if they were any closer or hiding. “They left a moment ago, they wanted to freshen up before dinner.”
“Yeah, we ordered pizza for everyone,” Sangyeon explained and you two nodded, your stomach grumbling at the mention of one of your favourite foods. “Don’t worry, we got you your favourite,” Jacob giggled as Juyeon was about to open his mouth, only to make you all laugh and smile at how predictable he was. “Thank you,” you said in unison and Jacob sent you a playful wink, taking off his sunglasses as the sun wasn’t as bright as before. Sangyeon sighed while he started picking up his belongings, Jacob imitating him.
“Are you two coming?” Jacob asked and you looked at Juyeon, who was already looking at you with his eyebrows raised, waiting for your answer. “I just want to go one more time in the water before going back to the hotel if you don’t mind,” you said as you stood up, placing your towel on your chair. “Yeah, me too,” Juyeon said, and you turned around, just catching a glimpse of an understood look between Sangyeon and Jacob, the two boys smirking at each other.
You frowned for a second but paid no mind, ignoring them as you walked back to the waterside. The salty foam came crashing on your feet and ankles as you jogged deeper into the water, diving back in, smiling as you couldn’t get rid of that happiness when you were surrounded by water while swimming. Juyeon followed you not so long after, and you waved at the two boys on the shore as they started walking towards the hotel.
“It was nice diving with you, do you think we could do this more often? I had a lot of fun exploring down there,” you said and Juyeon looked at you, a surprised look painted on his face. “I mean sure, whenever you want, we can always do it again! I know good spots in our town where the water is even more beautiful than here,” he explained and you accepted his proposition with a smile, keeping the conversation going as you two remained still in the water.
Once you were tired of trying to keep your head afloat and felt the conversation slowly dying out of presumable nervousness, you rested on your back, gently waiting for the waves to decrease the distance separating you from the beach.
The sky above your head was gorgeous and infinite, tones going through all the colours of the spectroscope as your eyes didn’t know where to look. The water wrapped around your body and the sight of the sky hanging above your head never felt so comforting, you could stay here for hours if it was possible. You let out a big sigh as you relaxed, sometimes shivering, the water getting colder as the sun was close to disappearing.
Juyeon’s upper body appeared in your field of vision and he grinned, observing you relaxing in the water. His eyes disappeared into crescent moons when your back touched the sandy ground faster than intended, taking the hand he was offering you to stand up. He didn’t let go of your hand and ran towards your chairs for the last time, collapsing and sprawling on them out of exhaustion.
Juyeon let out a groan as he repositioned himself in his camping chair, resting his head against the backrest as his legs were spread open in front of him. His right knee rested against yours, but none of you moved away, the action making Juyeon’s ears flush bright red and stifle a smile while closing his eyes. You liked this accidental contact with him, and you wanted to enjoy it while it lasted. Quickly glancing at your friend, you noticed that his eyes started fluttering, pearls of water falling from his messy strands of hair on the far end of his cheeks, rolling down his jaw to crash in his strong neck. As tempting as it looked, you had to force yourself not to wipe the water off his face with the back of your hand, thinking that your gesture would be a bit out of hand.
Out of nowhere, he sat back up, head moving left to right while looking for something, emitting a surprised sound when he found a dry towel resting on his sports bag.
“Is it yours?” he asked, and you shook your head, only to have him unfolding it and wrap it around your shoulders. You opened your eyes wide, startled by his actions, but didn’t dare to say anything, you just smiled at him. Tightening the towel around your body, it felt nice to feel something dry and somehow warm as your towel was completely soaked due to you going back and forth in the ocean during the entire day.
“Do you need anything?” you asked as he furiously blinked, searching for something again. “Can I just use it?” he said, pointing to the towel he had just given you.
Nodding, you were about to unwrap it from your shoulders, but he was swifter, grasping the far end of the towel and wiped his salty, reddened eyes with it, pushing his chair nearer to yours to be more comfortable while doing so. You didn’t dare to move in order not to inflict him a stray elbow hit, smiling at him once he was done.
“Thanks, I just had some sand in my eyes,” he clumsily said, and you shook your head with a smile. “Don’t worry about it,” you reassured him, and he offered you a warm smile, your heart suddenly quickening at the sight.
You both sighed simultaneously, feeling the tiredness and hunger winning over you. You both felt at peace as the sound of the waves began to lull you, the comfortable atmosphere making you slightly shiver in delight. It was hard for both of you to stay awake after you had been swimming all day, breathing through a snorkel was as exhausting as doing any other physical activity.
Juyeon had spent his entire day in the water, and the other boys told you that he got up at dawn to go for a run before joining you at the beach, so it was natural for him to be this drained.
What you didn't expect was his head rolling onto your shoulder, lips slightly parted as he gave up, his slumber sinking him into the comfortable hold of Morpheus's arms. You tried not to move too much in fear of waking him up, so you just mindlessly stared at the ocean stretching as far as the eye could see, following at some jet-skis cutting through the waves and a lifeboat ordering some bathers to return to the secure area.
Loud voices made you turn your head to the side and smile when you saw your friends arriving, all dressed in proper clothes, their hands full of soda and pizza boxes. You greeted them with a soft wave, showing the first to arrive that Juyeon was sleeping on your shoulder. Sunwoo smirked at you and placed the sodas in the cooler under the closed umbrella, Younghoon laying two large picnic tablecloths on the sand.
Your friends gently snickered at the innocent boy asleep on your shoulder, taking pictures of him to the potential blackmail. You shook your head with a thin smile, not approving so much of their method, but you knew there was nothing mean behind all of this, just fun. Once everyone was settled in and ready to eat and spend the evening together, you decided to wake Juyeon up by squeezing the forearm that was sprawled next to you.
"Ju', the boys are back, we're gonna eat," you whispered in his ear and Kevin cooed at your proximity from his spot on the blanket, sending a threatening gaze to silence him, which didn't have any effect on the Canadian boy.
Juyeon quietly emerged, suddenly straightening up when he felt he was resting on you, looking all lost and confused. Your friends burst into laughter at his behaviour as he apologised profusely, but you assured him that it was completely fine. His breathing had accelerated, and his ears turned bright red as the laughter didn’t seem to die down. Seeing him like that just because he had fallen asleep on you made your heart flutter, and you allowed yourself to giggle along with everyone.
After putting on your beach dress, you sat down between Younghoon and Jacob, the latter moving to the side as Juyeon sat behind you two in silence when there was more space on the other side of the blanket. The older boy silently giggled, stifling a remark with an amused look that you tried to ignore, asking Eric to give you a soda can.
“I'm fucking starving,” you blurted out as you all threw yourself on your pizza, you and Juyeon eating at a pretty disconcerting speed.
Every single one of you was busy talking and laughing about the incident that happened to some of the boys while you were still at the beach, while a special someone was busy staring at you.
“And then, Chanhee stared at the waiter and they were both confused about what just happened,” Eric explained and you all laughed, Younghoon quickly throwing a glance at his friend next to you, who didn’t have a single reaction since you all started eating.
Juyeon watched you out of the corner of his eye and allowed himself to wipe a piece of tomato on your cheek with the tip of his forefinger, making you turn your head towards him with a surprised look. He explained to you by mimicking the gesture he had just made on your cheek on his and you nodded as a silent thank you, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand.
Half the boys had noticed your little game, constantly looking at each other with understood smirks, but no one dared to say anything and break your little bubble of romance.
"We need to do something for those two, they’re getting mad annoying at playing who’s the most oblivious, they're gonna make me gag," Kevin whispered to Sangyeon, nodding at the two of you. You were too busy glancing at each other and listening to the rest of Eric’s story to hear what they were whispering about. "Just let time do its thing," Sangyeon suggested but received a growl in response, the younger absolutely not convinced.
The entire evening was great, your friends poking fun at Juyeon as the poor boy struggled to keep his eyes open and sit straight due to his exhaustion, shoulders sagged and head falling to the side as he shyly smiled at the teasing. When the sun was long gone and the wind started to pick up, you all decided to go back to the hotel to sleep because you were all exhausted, no matter how hard some were trying to deny it. You helped Younghoon shake the sand off and fold the tablecloths while the others were busy throwing away the leftovers and other rubbish.
All the boys checked that no one had forgotten anything and started walking in direction of the hotel, you bringing up the rear after checking everything back one last time.
Juyeon was drowsily walking and suddenly stopped, waiting for you to catch up with him, letting the other boys take the lead. You shyly smiled at him and kept on walking together, almost tripping over when you felt his hand take yours and hold it tight. He gave you a sweet, tired smile and kept on walking as if what he just did was utterly normal, your hands getting clammy and your heart fastening in your chest for the rest of the walk back to the hotel.
You looked up at him and offered him a sweet smile, to which he answered by squeezing your palm in his and gently move you closer to him. Juyeon felt the same way as you did so he couldn't feel your nervousness, but his behaviour gave you a hint that something will probably change between the two of you, and it was for the best.

Tumblr media
looking out into the darkness of the night, unable to locate the horizon from your position at the edge of the ship- you lift your gaze to the sky with a small sigh.
an unimaginable amount of stars litter the atmosphere, the clear view above could never be tiresome.
the city was no place for you; too crowded, full of men who were trying to court you for your fathers money and your beauty, not enough adventure. the ocean offered a type of freedom land could never- granted, the ship wasn’t much different from the bustling towns in the sense that all the soldiers would eye you like you’re a slab of meat.
the only difference given at sea is that you’re able to put those undesirable fuckers in their place. given your ranking, your power obsessed father wasn’t completely useless.
escaping to the empty deck had been your big feat today; everyone below was gulping down wine by the barrel when you managed to slip out. it was much colder out here, the chill of the salty wind was refreshing, sobering you up quite a bit- but still mentally fuzzy enough to tempt yourself into discarding edict and loosening up your tighter garments.
your drunken attention span shifted from fiddling with your bow in the back to the inky deep water...
what was that?
ripples were quietly dancing on the surface, the warm light reflections coming from the ship’s sconces moved along with them.
it had been really fast, so fast that you were almost left to wonder if you had actually imagined the most vibrant blue eyes you had ever seen... bobbing in the ocean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
two days. it had been two days since you had first “spotted” them and absolutely nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. the sailors still went about uglily gawking at you, your captain of a father was still behind the wheel, barking orders at everyone, while you went about your business. Sighing, the image of the eyes still fresh in your mind, you prepared to be lowered into the shallower sea.
upon hearing that there was a small island not too far from your current coordinates, you commanded a stop be made, needing to take some time away from the close knit quarters you constantly share with those horrific pigs. thankfully, no arguments surfaced and you headed straight for the dinghy. it had been surprisingly easy.
the trip wasn’t too long; you patiently waited for the tip of the boat to breach the soft sand, excited for what awaited you. it was such a lovely sunny day, big puffy white clouds dotted the expansive blue sky while the palm trees at the base of the beach greeted you with a steady sway.
once your boots sunk into the wet sand, you turned to the two other men who had escorted you and informed them that you were not to be followed- but to wait right there- which in retrospect, was not a good idea. that was too much trust and responsibility that was placed in their incapable hands.
you wasted no time trudging through the lush greenery to get to the other side of the island, wanting to be as far away from the crew members as possible.
it couldn’t have taken you more than two hours for you to reach an elaborate array of tide pools sporadically placed on a flat uneven rocky surface, some being lapped over by waves while others sat calmly- living in their own little world.
you had to look in each and every one of them.
wide eyes and mouth open, looking at all the lives in the crystal clear pools was an absolute marvel. some only held a few small sea anemones of different colors while others not only held the soft flowery plant but also housed fighting crabs of all sizes, large chunky starfish, and even a fish or two!
you took careful steps towards the end of the rocks, towards the ones where the waves were constantly restocking the pools with new life, your heart flipping in your chest at the colors of the crashing waves.
peering down into one of the deeper ones, you found it hard to take your sights away from the glistening sun streaks that cut through the water; a small gateway to the open ocean was at the bottom of this pool. it’s like you were hypnotized. making yourself comfortable, you laid yourself down next to the glistening water and began to break the calm surface with your finger tips, eyes trained on the tiny ripples.
“they left you, you know.”
you felt so at ease with the sound of the waves crashing around you, you almost didn’t hear it. it wasn’t until the nagging feeling that you weren’t alone hugged you in all the wrong places, that you looked up... only to be met with nothing.
scrunching your brow, the tranquility you were feeling before suddenly slipping through your fingers. you sat up, but not before you held a lingering glance at the glowing water once more. that’s an image that will stay in your mind; you almost wish you had your sketch book.
your mind went blank when you saw something block the light as it swam by... something big. the next few minutes happened in a blur. after scrambling up to get away from the pool, a huge body washed up on a nearby rock plateau and by no means was it graceful. your heart dropped to your stomach as you watched the lifeless body get smacked with harsh waves.
he was wearing your ship’s uniform, now drenched in blood.
nothing came up when you fell on your knees and lurched over, your eyes squeezing shut- the gruesome image of the crew member engrained in your mind.
“they got what they deserved.”
this time when you whipped your head up to follow the velvet voice, you fell into an almost trance. those breathtaking turquoise eyes you had seen a few days ago were now staring right at you, not too far away.
you couldn’t help the gasp that you inhaled as you fell back. looking at him in his entirety- you must have been hallucinating. growing up hearing the tales of deep sea monsters and nasty magical land creatures could never have prepared you for what laid in front of you.
it was such a drastic change; going from looking at something so appalling to something so... flawless... it was indescribable.
on display, your eyes followed the curled figure- wet white hair flopped against a pale forehead, the tips of his pointed finned-ears peaking out from the wet hair. there were deep dark purple markings starting underneath his eyes, slightly mimicking bags that then restarted at the bottom half of his face- all the way down his neck, ending at just the top of his chest. the markings then continued down his arms, right up to his knuckles contrasting the pale thin slightly webbed fingers that merged to sharp claws, gleaming in the sun. his toned chest eased into a pearly type of color around his hips before submerging into a black ragged tail- but it did the strangest thing. when the sun reflected off of it, a blue so royal- that you’ve only seen it on the most expensive of garments- came to life. the dorsal fin looked just as rugged as the tail did, but his odyssey fluke was splayed out so beautifully, you didn’t give it a second thought.
it wasn’t until you took a second glance that you noticed there was a red tint to his claws that you put into context what was said earlier.
“did you- di- you killed that man?”
his voice came out as smooth as silk, “I did.”
how could you be so dense? this was a creature that came from the sea- a ruthless underwater world. he was a predator. but wait-
“you can speak- you s-said.. did you kill them for me? are you going to-?”
“I killed those men because of all humans, the ones who betray others for their own greed serve no purpose.”
he didn’t tell you more than necessary in his opinion, but he was smart enough and old enough to know that you’re still going to ask more.
it seemed you were sitting on quite the pile of questions but he wasn’t going to be the one to break the silence. it was clear that you were mulling over what should be said first.
“was it you I saw at sea the other night?”
out of all the things you could ask, that was the only thing your mind had on repeat- the only thought present.
“and if it was?”
after receiving two similar vague reactions, something in you was screaming for something to happen. the interaction seemed to be going nowhere and here you were, in front of a creature that you’ve heard so much about but never actually met- a drastic change in interaction was calling, and who were you to ignore it?
in hindsight, it was a terrible idea.
one minute you were on land, next you were shedding your heavy, restrictive clothing- the mer watching with a slight smirk and a heavy gaze- then seconds later, were in the violent push and pull of the ocean. luckily you were far enough to be out of the rocky reach, but the current was too strong. you were being swayed back and forth with too much force.
if it had been your first time in the ocean, you would have been a goner- you would have washed right into the sharp jagged edges; a terribly painful way to go. but thankfully, flowing with the ocean had been your specialty since you were young. incredibly masculine and dirty, but you simply couldn’t stay away. the watery depths have lured you in and there was no escaping the spell it had casted on you all those years ago.
maybe that’s why you dove in. or maybe you wanted to see what the mer would do. whatever the case, there you were in the lull of the tide and running out of air. breaching the surface was your main goal, urging your arms and legs to snap out of the shock of the cold water.
eyes on the bubbles traveling upwards, you finally get your arms to push through the current almost missing the dark shadow swimming closer and closer to you, getting larger and larger.
a quick sideways glance in the clear water showed something large with many many rows of teeth out on display, heading toward you and gaining momentum.
a shark.
a... shark.
of all the ways you possibly thought you could go... this was not one of them. it’s almost ironic- the one way you thought you wouldn’t go would end up getting you.
breaking the surface, you gulp your last breath of air- painfully waiting for the horrifying moment when powerful jaws clamp around your body... but it never came. all you felt was a strong current zip past your feet, slightly pulling you along with it.
you’re heart was pounding; adrenaline coursing through your veins, breathing choppy as you whip your head in every which way to see what was going on in the water beneath you. then you saw it.
blood.
just then, the gory image of the crewmate’s body flashed into your mind. there had been another sailor... the mermaid didn’t pull up two bodies- he wasn’t the only predator in the water.
before you could evaluate further, you were pulled by the ankle under the water and into a place where the blood hadn’t seeped yet.
not enough air was sucked in before you submerged, so you frantically searched for ways you could reach the surface again- not even thinking about the now-absent steady grip that dragged you under.
then you felt it. pointed claws lightly tracing up your sides before his handsome face was leveled with yours. if seeing him on land wasn’t good enough, seeing him in his element was nearly heart stopping.
but your lungs were going to collapse before your heart could-
or so you thought.
he flattened his palm around your waist, cupping it gently before he inched his face toward yours, lips slightly ghosting yours, as if asking for permission.
with his toned body pressed against yours, it was hard to think straight, but the most prominent siren going off in your mind was the fact that you were loosing oxygen, and quickly. you found yourself panicking in his grip. was this really the time?
his lips were on yours in less than a second, your struggling becoming more and more apparent- but it was when he got your mouth to open that you realized what he was doing.
A mermaid’s kiss gives you the eternal breath; the ability to breathe under water.
pulling away, he watched as your eyes went wide, the small smirk you’d seen before had appeared once more.
the sensation was otherworldly; though there was a heavy pressure in your chest as the water was filtering in and out of your system, you were breathing underwater.
slowed down by the new density, you lifted your head to look up at the mer- no doubt the most excited and bewildered expression on your face, just to realize the size difference. he was huge- how had you not noticed this on land?
the more human half of his body had to be around the six foot range, his muscular tail roughly adding another ten. the massive figure floating around you was... beautiful.
he had the softest gaze when looking down at you, it nearly shocked you more that the new incredible ability had. he didn’t seem like the type to be full of expressions; it was such a warm and familiar look, something that you hadn’t seen in a long time- and one you typically didn’t see on a stranger’s face, much less a merman you had only just met.
opening your mouth to say something-if you could, that is- his expression changed in a blink, fear now contorted his features.
everything was so fast with him; his arm wrapped around your waist in mere seconds before speedily guiding you through a passage of underwater tunnels that lead to somewhere you assumed to be in the middle of the island- a lush green grotto.
once you resurfaced, you inhaled a breath you didn’t realize you needed; the new air burned your lungs- you almost didn’t want to breathe.
“just keep breathing. it will get easier over time.”
he almost sounded... bored? a complete one 180 to what you had just witnessed in the water.
the mer guided you up to the pool’s edge, lifting you with ease until you sat with only your legs dangling in the water.
outwardly, it stayed quiet for a while. there wasn’t much noise around besides the occasional bird call and the delicate sound of waded water.
your breathing had slightly evened out but you weren’t too confident in your voice, so keeping your mouth shut seemed like the best option.
what now?

A cute prompt for you to make up for the angst: Merman Au. In a world where humans and mer are acquainted communities (trade and navigation partners), Mer-WWX sees human prince Lan Zhan and tried to get his attention! Splashing to draw eyes, making acrobatic jumps to impress, wearing his best jiaro silks, leaving cute trinkets on his windowsill in the hopes that he will like them, and singing enchanting songs for his Prince, all hoping that Lan Zhan will sing back and court him (mermaids court with music and gifts so write a completely smitten WWX and go nuts!)
Oh thank you!! I absolutely adore merman/jiaoren!WWX!! And this prompt is so nice! I really appreciate you giving me such a happy prompt since my grandaunt died two days ago from Covid.
_______________________________
It was a complete coincidence that brought them together. Wei Wuxian swam to the surface, intent on exchanging the jiaoren goods for coin and food, when he noticed the bright decorations around town.
As he handed the stuff over, red tail swishing every now and then, he asked the vendor, “What’s going on? Is there a festival I don’t know about?”
“Ah, Young Master Wei! You’re just in time! The second prince is coming here!”
“Second Prince? Why is he coming here?”
“It’s just a yearly inspection.”
What? Wei Wuxian hadn’t heard about this in all the years he’d been here!
“Why haven’t I heard about this before?”
“Ah....the Second Prince doesn’t like crowded places or making a big deal about his arrival, so he takes some sort of alternate route to come here. Though, this year, that route was flooded.”
“I see.....”
“Do you want to see him?” The vendor asked upon noticing Wei Wuxian’s thoughtful look. “He’s rumored to be a beautiful person, second only to his brother, the Emperor. We can get a few of my friends to carry a tub over so you can see him!”
“Oh! I couldn’t bother you all that way.” Wei Wuxian politely refused. “I have other errands to do, unfortunately.”
“Oh....”
The real reason he was thoughtful was because of his and his people’s prior horrible experience with royals. They had fled Lanling, where the king had captured many of his people for the pearls they cried in place of tears. Gusu had been reportedly better, its Emperor laying down a law that bans the harm of mythical creatures such as the jiaoren. But Wei Wuxian didn’t want to risk any sort of attention to his people after they had just escaped.
Wei Wuxian waved goodbye and dove back under the water. When he arrived at his home after going through a series of underwater caves, he found out his parents knew of these yearly visits from the prince and that it was fine to wander around since the prince doesn’t usually stay for long.
Wei Wuxian nodded along and decided to do make sure to distribute the food and coin around his community.
Before he knew it, the sun had set. Wei Wuxian returned to the surface, considering he wanted to have some spicy human food for dinner. After eating on the edge of the dock, tail partially in to keep himself from drying, he heard music from afar.
Curious as to the owner of such a beautiful sound, he submerges and follows the sound towards a more secluded area of the dock. There, dressed in shades of blue, was a young boy, seemingly around Wei Wuxian’s age, playing the guqin with nary an expression on his face.
Something itched within Wei Wuxian and he had the urge to tease the boy into making a new sort of expression. As quiet as a mouse, he snuck close to the boy and burst out of the water, shouting, “Boo!”
As he expected, the white-clothed human became startled and nearly jumped in shock. Wei Wuxian cackled until he came face with a sword. He held his hands up in surrender even as his heart beat fast.
“Who are you?” The boy demanded.
Wei Wuxian lifted his head from the sword to come face to face with the most beautiful boy he had ever seen. The boy in front of him had the most entrancing pair of golden eyes. The boy narrowed his eyes and repeated his question, though the sword at his neck faltered a little.
Wei Wuxian took the opportunity to swim a little farther from the boy and pouted. “Gege, I just wanted to surprise you! You looked so serious sitting by yourself! You should look happier on such a beautiful night such as this!” The boy didn’t change his expression. “Also! Isn’t it rude to point your sword at a stranger?”
“You do not know who I am?”
He’s probably some noble considering not many people own swords, but him specifically? “Nope! Should I know who you are?” He’s probably new or something. I haven’t seen him around before and nobles don’t usually come around these parts. ....Hmm, perhaps he’s here to see the prince?
The boy seemed to relax a little and put away his sword. “.....I apologize for pointing my sword at you. I was....unsure if you meant ill.”
“Why would I voluntarily bring harm to a stranger?”
“...” The human turned away and turned to his guqin, checking for damage.
“Hey, hey! Beautiful human with gold eyes! Don’t ignore meeee! Look at me, look at me!!”
The human merely sighed in exasperation.
Wei Wuxian’s pout became more pronounced and his tail splashed in irritation. The human’s eyes went wide with curiosity and shock and Wei Wuxian realized his mistake. “..Uhh....”
“A jiaoren?”
“Yeah! Do you have a problem with that?” Wei Wuxian said, guarded.
“No. I have never seen one before.”
“I see.”
The atmosphere became awkward with the ensuing silence but Wei Wuxian could never stay quiet for long.
“So what brings you around these parts? I’ve never seen you before!”
“......I came with the prince’s entourage.” There was something odd in his tone.
“I see. You know, I’ve never seen the prince before. Is he as beautiful as the rumors suggest?”
“Vanity is against the rules.”
“Whose rules?”
“The palace’s.”
“Hmph. Well, this isn’t the palace. it’s fine to say something, hm?”
“....Gossiping is against the rules. Talking behind someone’s back is forbidden.”
Wei Wuxian threw his hands up. “Well, if I can’t talk about the prince, then tell me about you! That’s not against the rules, isn’t it?”
“........”
“A name! At least tell me your name! Mine’s Wei Wuxian, but Gege can call me Wei Ying since we’re already so close!”
“Shameless!” The boy hissed, ears red.
“Oh come on!! I told you my name, it’s only fair that you tell me yours! Don’t be rude, Gege!”
“.....Zhan.”
“Hm?”
“Lan Zhan.” He repeated.
“Lan Zhan?” Wei Wuxian murmured and Lan Zhan nodded. Hmm. It’s a birth name, not a courtesy name. Is he trying to hide his identity? He’s not doing a very good job though, considering ‘Lan’ is the name of the royal family. Perhaps he’s a relative of the prince’s? I wouldn’t expect a prince to be out here by himself without guards so he must be a guard or something. Hmm. It’s something to think about later. It doesn’t seem like he means harm even after knowing what I am. Regardless, it’s not like he could follow me back to my home even if he did mean ill. Humans can’t hold their breath for that long. “Well, Lan Zhan, now that we know each other’s names, you’re now my friend!”
“........We do not know each other.”
“That’s what we’re talking for, silly! We’re getting to know each other, right?”
“Hm.” Lan Zhan packed his guqin away. “I must go. It is late.”
“Late? We’ve hardly talked though! Don’t leave me here, Lan-gege!” Wei Wuxian whined.
“Not.....Not.....gege.”
“Hm?”
“I have an older brother.”
“Hm? Oh.....oh! Okay, I understand! Lan-er-gege!”
Lan Zhan looked away, gripping his sword. “I will come back tomorrow night.”
“Huh?” Then he connected the dots. “Oh! Okay! See you later, Er-gege!”
Lan Zhan nodded and left. It was only when he couldn’t see him anymore did Wei Wuxian realize he could have just asked where Lan Zhan lived. If it was close to the water, he could just swim to him. That might put him close to the prince and other people from the palace which wasn’t a very comforting thought. He still didn’t know whether to trust the Gusu royals, despite possibly conversing with one.
.......................
The next few nights passed by in a similar fashion, with Wei Wuxian trying to get Lan Zhan’s attention and Lan Zhan hardly giving the jiaoren an inch.
Wei Wuxian, however, saw this as a challenge and began to do many things to get Lan Zhan’s attention. The most effective one was splashing him, though it earned him a glare as well as Lan Zhan predicting it and being able to dodge more often than not.
He moved onto trying to impress Lan Zhan by performing difficult acrobatic tricks. Lan Zhan looked amazed at this and Wei Wuxian was extremely smug, quickly turning an embarrassed red when Lan Zhan praised him, with a, “Beautiful.”
Wei Wuxian wailed, hiding his face in his hands, “Lan-er-gege, you can’t just say that!”
“Why?”
“It’s too embarrassing!!”
“Wei Ying calls me beautiful all the time.” Lan Zhan deadpanned.
Wei Wuxian peeked at him from in between his fingers, “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” He demanded. “You can’t just tease me like this! Where did the Lan Zhan who got so easily flustered go?”
Lan Zhan said nothing, but Wei Wuxian could see the faint upturn of his lips that made his overall expression smug.
And Wei Wuxian didn’t know why, but it made his heart beat faster/
.......
It escalated. Because of course it did. Wei Wuxian wanted to hear Lan Zhan praise him again and see that faint smile again - no matter if it was smug or not.
He wore his best jiaoxiao silks - ones he personally weaved -, danced, and....and even sang to him. Lan Zhan even joined him sometimes, playing on the guqin.
He returned every night, sighing into his parents’ embrace about his Lan Zhan and his parents shot him increasingly knowing looks until they laid down the truth.
“You’re courting him, aren’t you, A’ Ying?” His father asked.
“C-Court?”
“Yes, A’ Ying.” His mother patiently said. “You wore the most beautiful jiaoxiao silks you weaved, danced a well-known courting dance, and even sang for him. If you aren’t courting him, if you aren’t in love with him, then I call bullshit.”
Wei Wuxian clutched his burning cheeks. “Courting?” Am I really courting Lan Zhan? I mean.....I like it when he praises me and calls me beautiful and plays his guqin for me and even plays an accompaniment when I sing!
......Oh god. Oh heavens! I really am courting him!!! How could I not notice???!!!! Ahhhh!!!!
.......................
The nature of Wei Ying’s gifts and music changed, Lan Wangji noted absently.
When Lan Wangji first met Wei Ying, he was unsure of what to think but was quickly captivated by his smile and intelligence. It made Lan Wangji reluctant to return to the palace. Or maybe even bring Wei Ying with him.
He shook that thought away quickly. He couldn’t just take Wei Ying away from his family!
Back to the point, Lan Wangji noticed the shy looks Wei Ying shot him from time to time and how his songs gained a sort of.....longing tone. The gifts too......they were pearl bracelets and hairpins that had to be made from Wei Ying’s tears. Lan Wangji may be shy but he was not oblivious to what it meant to receive a jiaoren’s personally made songs and pearls.
Perhaps.....Wei Ying might share his feelings after all?
That thought made his heart beat faster. If he remembered correctly, jiaoren court through songs. And Lan Wangji had the perfect one in mind.
.....................
Lan Zhan had to leave today. He had to leave!!
Wei Wuxian wanted to cry, somehow. He hadn’t finished courting Lan Zhan!
Fortunately, Lan Zhan seemed reluctant to leave too. “I can ask my brother to send me here soon.”
“Really? Really, Lan Zhan?”
“Mn.”
Wei Wuxian’s tail propelled him out of the water and forward so that he could wrap Lan Zhan into a hug. “I knew you liked me! Oh! Uh-- I mean--!”
Lan Zhan’s arms came around him. “Mn. Like Wei Ying.”
Wei Wuxian squealed happily. Lan Zhan liked him back!! He pulled back to give Lan Zhan a bright smile which, surprisingly, was returned!!
Wei Wuxian’s tail swished happily, “Keep smiling, Lan-er-gege! It’s really pretty!!”
Lan Zhan huffed out a laugh and Wei Wuxian grinned.
.
.
“Wei Ying, there is something I must tell you.”
“Hm? What is it?”
Lan Zhan hesitated and Wei Wuxian sat up, sensing it was serious.
“What is it?”
“Wei Ying, I have not been entirely honest with you. My name is Lan Zhan....... courtesy name: Wangji.”
Wei Wuxian took a moment to let that sink in. Where had he heard that courtesy name before?
“Hey, Mom.” Wei Wuxian asked as they crossed the border between Lanling and Gusu. “The Gusu royals. Are they good people?”
His mother nodded. “I was acquainted with the current king’s uncle until we had a.....” She winces. “A fight. They are good people, regardless of our past differences. The current king, Lan Xichen, and his little brother, Lan Wangji, have implemented a law that ensures the safety of creatures like us.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“You’re the second prince?!” Wei Wuxian gasped, dramatically flopping into the water. The prince?! He was courting the actual prince of Gusu???!!!
“Mn.” Lan Zhan confirmed as soon as he surfaced, shoulders tense.
“Well, shit. I didn’t know, but it’s not like you’re going to punish me for my rather shameless behavior, right? I know humans have different customs for courting.”
“Mn.”
“Okay! Now that that’s out of the way, Lan Zhan - I can still call you Lan Zhan, right?” Lan Zhan nodded. “Then, Lan Zhan, now that I know you’re the prince, I know you must have a lot of business and I can’t push you to come here often. But do try to visit, okay? I’ll miss you a lot!”
“Mn. Will miss Wei Ying too.”

from Ch. 49 of Black Moonlight holds the BE script
had to share this because it's not very spoilery, I could easily correct the MTL grammar and it's perfect - praying to heaven that they keep this scene in 🙏
(setup: Li Susu as Ye Xiwu has allowed herself to once more be captured by Tantai Jin, who is now head of the Zhou kingdom which is at war with her Xia kingdom. She's imprisoned, her hands are tied, she just finished a bowl of porridge and she's being very casual about the whole situation.)
Su Su suddenly showed a nice smile, softly said: "If you are determined to do so, I can not do anything, but I have an idea, to sacrifice fewer people. I'll come over and tell you."
She seldom spoke to him in such a gentle tone. Tantai Jin froze, staring at her bright smile, the young girl's white ritual clothes spread out, and he recalled the scene underwater when she dove in [to save him], skirts surrounding her with a dazzling halo.
When he came back to his senses, she was close.
Tantai Jin subconsciously wanted to show a disgusted expression, her clothes and skirt had not been changed, they were dirty, and perhaps smelly. But really close to her, her eyelashes like two small fans innocently fluttered. That holy maiden became harmless and gentle. She didn't stink at all ...... and even still carried that less-than-acceptable ...... acacia flower fragrance.
He pursed the edges of his lips and tried to keep his tone icy as he spoke to her about business: "What way, say."
"The way is ......," Su Su's fingers tightly clasped the bowl and spoke in a low voice in his ear.
The next moment, she showed an expression of boredom, backhanded the bowl to his head: "This way! You are so bad -so bad, how have the heavens not yet struck you down with lightning!"
Unexpectedly, her wrist was grabbed by Tantai Jin.
He was close enough to hold her slender hand and clasp it behind her head. He laughed in a low voice, "You think I'll still fall for your trick?"
The young girl was held by his wrist, and the weak water rope ring not only prevented her from using the talisman, but also made her soft and weak. She used to be like a groundhog who was jumping around with her teeth and claws, now she was a powerless little rabbit that he had grabbed.
Su Su said, "You let go!"
Tantai Jin pinched her chin and warned, "My patience is limited, if you mess with me again.... "
As soon as his words fell, Su Su's knee went up and kicked him in the lower three ways.
The world's most insidious and powerful men are afraid of this move, Tantai Jin is no exception. His beautiful face turned visibly white, subconsciously his hand started to let go to cover the pain. I don't know what kind of perseverance he used to not let go of Su Su [completely.]
Su Su felt his weakness, but his grip was still there. Seeing that he is still unwilling to let go, she took a step. Her black-and-white eyes stared at him coldly and she slammed forward, hitting him with her whole body.
Her head slammed into his chest. Both of them let out a muffled grunt.
Tantai Jin gritted his teeth and said, "Have you practiced Iron Head Kung Fu?"
When he looked down, the young girl's eyes were dazed, and she looked like she was about to be knocked unconscious, leaning helplessly on his chest.
He felt pain all over his body, chest pain, pain below, pain reflected in his delicate and beautiful eyes, tinged with a fragile thin red.
Tantai Jin leaned against the cold wall, looking irritated.
How she always ...... always does this to him!

Good Girl  BolinxFemReader
Had two admins ask for sub/dom bolin and soft core Bo (it gets more than soft core and I DID put a warning before it got too far if you’re uncomfy with it <3
Requests:OPEN
Dm’s: OPEN, I always like new friends :)
Warnings:Smut, angst?, language (always)
Being apart of Team Avatar was great.  As a waterbender yourself you and Korra got along really well actually.  You all met as a probender funnily enough.  Your team had smacked the hell out of them and they saw you in the halls of the arena after.  Bolin was the first to say something to you.
“Um, hi- I uh, you’re really good and you’re really. . . pretty,” he drifted off when you turned around.
“Oh thank you,” you giggled and smiled at him.  He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
“So uh if you’re not doing anything would you like to grab a drink or food?” he looked at the girl pleadingly.  She smiled in return and tossed her bag in her car.
“Well come on,” She said and hopped in.
So here they all were crowded at the beach on Ember Island.  Korra and Asami were stood at the net playing ball.  Bolin had gone to get drinks for the group, which left Mako and (y/n) to sit on the beach. The girl had a cover robe draped loosely around her shoulders as she sat upright.  Mako laid next to her on a towel.
“So what’s up with you and Bolin?” He asked suddenly.
“What do you mean?” She asked staring at the water.
“I mean you constantly flirt with him, why not just make a move?” he peeked at the girl.
“Well, I mean I flirt and try to get an answer from him but he never gives me any sign back,” she shrugged.
“Why not just ask him?”
“Because, I don’t wan’t to ruin our friendship, I mean Bo is my closest friend,” she peeked over her shades at him.
“I mean that’s fair but still, he’ll never know if you don’t tell him,” he said pointedly.
“Yeah yeah,” she swatted her hand, knocking the umbrella over in the process.
“Oh god are you okay?” Mako asked reaching around the girl to put the umbrella back up.
“Mako I’m fine,” She laughed.
Bolin stole glances at the two.  Mako’s arms reaching around her, her bathing suit seemed to cut lower with every glance.  It was in the way that her sun hat tilted over their heads.  It was the sound of her laugh, loud and light.  It was Mako smirking at her.  He was jealous, and it wasn’t just a small ping anymore, it was a full pit.  His stomach twisted when they got up and rushed into the water.  They were thigh deep when he got back to their spot.
“Bo!” She called waving him out to her. “Bo, come in,” She grinned at him.  He sighed and slowly started to walk to her.  “Come on Bolin, I know you’re faster than that,” she smiled and waded over to him.  She carefully grabbed his hand and led him up to waist level.  She moved closer, wrapping her arms around him in a hug.  He let the tension go and hugged back.  Suddenly her arms got tight and she flung him around, sending them both underwater.
“Are you fucking serious?!” He yelled when he surfaced.
“I’m sorry?” she bit her lip, fighting a smile.
“I’m gonna fuck your world up,” he grinned and dove after her.  The girl yelped and swam out further. Bolin chased her out into the water.  The two swam until the sun was set.  They sat next to the fire Mako had left hours ago laid out on the beach blanket.
“Oh bolin look at the stars,” (y/n) smiled as she laid on her back.  But Bolin wasn’t watching the stars.  He was watching the way her lips curled upward softly, and the way her breasts rose and fell with her breathing, the way her cheeks were tinted red, the way her hair fell around her hair, how nice it would look in his hand.  How perfect her throat would fit in his grasp.
“Boooliiin,” she dragged his name out.
“Oh- uh yeah?” He snapped back.
“Are you okay? you’ve seemed off all day,” she frowned at him.
“Oh um well- I uh,” he swallowed the lump in his throat.  He turned his eyes away from her.  (Y/n) sat up quickly.
“Bo you know you can tell me anything, I won’t be mad. Did I do something? I mean you haven’t been you for a few days and I’m sorry if I said something that hurt you I never want to-”
“I like you!” He cut her off
“hurt you, Wait WHAT!” She looked at him in confusion, her face contorted.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-” Her lips were on his suddenly.  His eyes went wide before shutting.  Her hand found it’s way into his hair.  He held her face, keeping them together.  Their lips danced as the girl slowly slid onto his lap, moaning quietly at how his hard on felt rubbing against her. She held his shoulders as she slowly drug her hips against his. They pulled away breathless. She stared at his green eyes with a smile. She let her face fall.
“Bolin, I like you, like a lot and I want this I do I just- I need to know that you want this too.  I mean sex and us wise,” she stumbled over her words.
“You’re cute when you’re not confident,” he smirked, “And trust me I want this,”
“Then why have you been acting weird?”
“It’s that I thought you liked Mako and I didn’t want to push you”
“You thought Mako. . . and I?” (Y/n) gagged and cleared her throat. “boling I love your brother, but NOT like that. I mean he’s a cheater, and he’s not you.  You’re sweet. . .” she drug her hips “funny,” another drag “and sooo fucking handsome” her voice dropped to a whisper.  Bolin swallowed hard and let his hands set on her waist. “I love you Bolin, more than I’ve ever loved anyone,” she placed a small kiss to his cheek.
“I love you too, and the thought of someone else touching your body it just, it hurt,” he breathed out and guided her hips to grind against him. “You’re mine!” He growled and pushed her down on him.  Her breath hitched at the action.
“Bolin,”
“Yes?”
“Can we have sex?”
“Fuck yes, please”   (Warning is starting now proceed with caution)
She dove her lips onto his, moving quickly.  He slid his tongue into her mouth, swirling it around.  (Y/n) moaned at the feeling, letting her shoulders drop.  Bolin wrapped an arm around her waist and flipped them over.  He circled his hips over her heat.  She let her head fall back.  Bolin lifted her slightly and tugged the stings of her top.  The fabric fell loose and was quickly tossed to the side.  He ran his thumb over her nipple, the feeling making her arch.  He looked into her (E/c) eyes and slid his tongue over her bud.  A moan escaped her lips while he sucked on her breasts.  The feeling was so much more than euphoric.  His fingers slid down her stomach slowly, his lips following.  He carefully licked from her navel, up her neck and to her ear.
“Be a good girl for me and keep quiet” The phrase alone was enough to make her moan.
Bolin slide her bottoms down.  He groaned at sight of her, so bare and exposed infront of him.  The fire made her glow almost spirit like.  He slowly circled his thumb over her clit making her jump and moan loudly.  He stopped he leaned close.
“I thought I said to be quiet,” he threatened playfully
“I-I’m s-sor-ry” she moaned as his fingers slid into her, pumping gently.  Her head fell back and another moan escaped.  He pulled away, making the girl whine.  He tugged the tie of her robe out and held it in his hands.
“Safeword?” he looked at her, his expression soft.
“huh?”
“We need a safeword” he smiled and kissed her forehead
“oh uh, Lily?”
“If that’s what you want then yeah,” he smiled and set the tie in her mouth, tying it loosely around her head.
“Take it out and say the word if you need to okay?” She nodded. Bolin slid his trunks off and ground himself onto her.  She was dripping, enough to easily slide in.  She moaned and let her eyes roll back.
“Oh fuck” Bolin moaned. He sat for a minute, letting her adjust, the second she nodded he slowly drew back and thrust in.  He was angled perfectly.  Her moans were muffled as he slowly thrust.
“Do you like that baby?” he smirked at her.
“mhm” she nodded.  Bolin drew back slowly and slammed back in, carefully. (Y/n)’s head flew back further. Moans threatened to scream out of her throat.  Bolin leaned down on his elbow, fastening his pace slightly.  Her moans were getting more more together, that pit building up.  He pulled out and teased her, thrusting over her clit.  The girl stared at him with pleading eyes.  He chuckled and ground harder, her mewls and whines were music to his ears.
“What baby? do you want this?” he pressed against her entrance.  She nodded vigorously, begging through the tie for him to fuck her.  He slid back in, thrusting just as slow as before.  (Y/n) let out a loud whine and looked at him with pleading eyes again.
“Are you a good girl?” he smirked at her.  Her eyes rolled back and walls clenched at the sentence.  “Mhm” she mumbled.  He thrust into her faster, lifting her hips to hit that spot.  Her moans were loud, even through the tie, and right in his ear, and fuck would he give anything to listen to her beg and plead all day.  She clawed at his back, dragging her nails deep and slow.
“Fuck baby, you’re my good girl,” he moaned and sucked on her ear lobe.  Her wals clenched and her legs shook as her orgasm hit.  Bolin thrust a few more times, sloppy and fast before stilling and slowly letting them back down.  He sat resting inside her.  He carefully untied the tie.
“Do you feel okay?” he asked and brushed her hair out of her face.
“I feel. . . great. . . amazing,” she smiled, still breathless.
“and you?”
“I feel so much better” he chuckled.  (y/n) smiled and brushed his sweaty hair to the side. Bolin slowly slid out of her and quickly set his towel against her.  She smiled and cleaned herself.
“Sorry I got jealous,” Bolin shrugged away.
“If you being jealous leads to that, please be jealous more,” she teased.

Can we get a follow up or some sort for The Martyrdom of St. Valentine (and other romantic stories) ?
I also got this request forever ago so I'm gonna combine the two (except making it foster brother Steve like in the original fic of course); warnings for sorta stepcest, dubcon touching, fingering and oral f receiving
Tumblr media
Steve hadn’t left you alone no matter how much you begged him to.  You didn’t even want to think about what happened a month ago, even if your mind was stuck on it and your body, in the late hours of the night, craved it.
But he was following you around anyways, lording it over you.  I know you liked it.  I felt you come.
So, maybe you weren’t exactly surprised when getting in the hot tub in the backyard didn’t provide the solitude you were looking for, but it didn’t mean you were any less disappointed.
“Steve, I don’t have time for your shit right now,” you groaned as you saw him come out the sliding door into the backyard.
“Can I not use the tub too?” he frowned.
“You can, you just have to stay on your side,” you compromised, sinking lower into the steamy water in hopes that the jets would hide more than your bikini did.
In his defense, he lasted longer than you thought he would.  But of course, a few minutes of silence later, you felt his hand brush against your thigh.  You jerked away but he found you again, and when you opened your eyes you realized he was definitely not on his side anymore.
“Steve, cut it out,” you whined, stopped from moving back further by his arm sliding around your shoulders.
“C’mon, just sit on my lap,” he offered as if that were a reasonable solution.
“You’re my brother,” you reminded him; or maybe you were reminding yourself.
“How come you’re so wet for me then?” he shot back.
“I’m not!” you instantly defended.
“Are you sure?” he smirked.  “There’s only one way to find out.”
“Fuck off,” you rolled your eyes.
“Okay,” he shrugged, “here, we’ll play it your way.  If I slip my finger in that bikini of yours and you’re not wet for me, I’ll leave you alone like you’ve been telling me to, and we can finally forget about Valentine’s Day.”
You swallowed, wishing you weren’t giving it so much consideration.  But what did you have to lose, really?  “Deal.  But make it quick.”
He made no such promise as he grinned and sat beside you, pulling you into his lap while his fingers slowly trailed down your stomach.  Finally, he slipped two fingers down between where he had gently spread your legs, circling your clit and finally sliding over your entrance.  You grinned with pride because you knew any arousal had been washed away by the hot tub anyhow.  “I win,” you announced triumphantly.
“Yeah, you do,” he smiled against your shoulder, making you gasp when he pushed two fingers into you suddenly.  “But so do I.  I know you want it as bad as I do... it’s a win-win.”
Your hand clutched at his wrist, struggling with the stretch of just two of his fingers.  You couldn’t even remember how you ever took his cock; you tried not to.  “Y-you said--” you began to protest.
“I said I’d leave you alone if you weren’t wet.  Even if we ignore for a moment that water is obviously wet,” he chuckled, “you’re obviously turned on.  I can see your nipples through the swimsuit, honey.  Either you’re worked up or it’s suddenly getting chilly in this hundred degree water... not to mention the way this little pussy is drenched inside, begging for more...”
You hated that he was right, but you hated even more the way you couldn’t stop yourself from letting your head fall on his shoulder with a sigh, your mind giving in along with your body.
“Yeah?” he whispered against your neck as he kissed you there gently, fucking you slowly with his fingers.  “Feels good?”
“S-Steve,” you barely managed to get out, already rocking your hips against his fingers.
"Got started without me, huh?" Bucky mused and he appeared through the sliding door, jolting you out of your trance.
"B-Bucky," you stammered awkwardly, trying to wriggle out of Steve's grasp and failing as he held you tighter.
"Don't be embarrassed, babygirl," he cooed as he quickly pulled his shirt off over his head and dropped his jeans to reveal swimming trunks. He vaulted over the side of the tub like it was nothing, sliding in beside the two of you, grinning mischievously. "I like watching him touch you.  And he likes when I watch, too, otherwise he wouldn’t have texted me to invite me over.”
“Hey Buck,” Steve prompted, pulling his fingers out of you and already sounding like he was up to something, “remember when you were on swim team, and you could hold your breath underwater the longest of any of the other swimmers?”
“Yeah, I remember that,” Bucky smirked.
“Think you still got it?” Steve challenged, and Bucky didn’t even need to say anything for you to start to put together what they were on about.  He flashed you one last grin before he dove under, and immediately you felt his hands moving up your legs; and as Steve pulled your bikini bottoms aside, you suddenly felt Bucky’s mouth latch onto your sex.
“Fuck!” you gasped, arching back against Steve’s tight embrace.  It felt different than you could’ve ever imagined, but you hadn’t even imagined this before anyways so it didn’t make a difference either way.  He was clearly affected by the water, moving slower against the pressure of its weight, but all that did was keep you balancing on the edge for longer as Steve kept you from squirming too much.
“Gonna come?” Steve taunted against your ear.  “I wanna see it.  Come while Buck eats you out, honey, and moan nice and loud for him so he can hear you under there.”
