AvA Orange and Red: Character Dynamic Analysis

I would like to preface this analysis with recognizing that all of the Color Gang have a very close bond. Orange, Green, Blue, Yellow, Red, each and every one of them care so much about each other and absolutely would sacrifice themselves to save the others, and this analysis doesn't make that any less true.

However, in that universal deep care and trust for each other, there are still some notable differences in the relationships between specific sticks. In this analysis, I would like to focus specifically on Orange's and Red's interactions throughout the show.

Also, some of these points I have also talked about in my Red Character Analysis, but I'm going to be explaining them through a different lens here.

Another disclaimer is that I'm not going to be addressing the possibility of a romantic relationship in this analysis since I don't think I'm very qualified to talk about that one, everyone can headcanon whatever ships or lack of ships you want XD

But now that that's out of the way, let's start the real analysis!

Red and Orange are, in a lot of ways, opposites. Orange appears to be the oldest, while Red is generally seen as the youngest. Orange is cautious and prefers calm, repetitive safety, while Red rushes into things and enjoys excitement despite the risks. When confronted with a choice between going somewhere new but dangerous and staying safe at home, Red will always choose the former and Orange will always choose the latter.

This has led to a sometimes strained relationship between them - particularly from Orange to Red. And, while this was most visible during the Lush Caves conflict, there are some details in their interactions before then that still indicate something being off in their relationship.

Prior to Lush Caves, especially seen in the non-Minecraft non-AvA episodes, there has been a strong tendency for Red to be the one always going out of their way to help out Orange with whatever they needed. Red's always the one pressing start, fullscreen, helping Orange out with little things, anything Orange asks of them, without question. And while yes, this indicates Red's speed of understanding what's needed from them, it also is definitely worth noting that all these cases is doing what Orange specifically needs. Red wants Orange's approval.

If this was reciprocated, this could easily be a sweet friendship/relationship/however you decide to interpret that dynamic. But, past the type of friendship Orange has with everyone in the CG, the helpfulness and the trust toward Red specifically doesn't seem to be there. Not for a while, at least.

Orange easily gets carried away in the moment, and can sometimes take their friends for granted. They still care about their friends, a lot, but they also often get frustrated with the others and can be lost in the moment - even to the degree of abandoning their friends in favor of going home or accidentally killing one of their friends in a fight. And even in less high-stakes scenarios, they often don't join the others and may do minor things to sabotage them - or at least not be very helpful. Kicking the boat away from Green in Parkour, or turning down the volume when their friends were playing music. It's not terrible by any means, but it's not very kind or healthy either if done too often.

But it's also noticeable that Red often gets the brunt of this apathy or hostility. Because again, they and Orange are opposites. Despite Red wanting to make Orange happy, Red's also impulsive, adventurous, a little chaotic - all traits that Orange rarely wants to deal with. All traits that pull Orange into dangerous and scary situations. And Red, being the stick that they are, never really seemed to catch on how much their behavior was upsetting Orange. Another flaw of their quickly made decisions.

But while it may not have been recognized, the actions that resulted still were clear. In PvP, Orange nearly stabbed Red with an actual sword when Red wasn't using real weapons. Orange would later use Red as a weapon to fight the witch - and I didn't see anyone else jumping on or kicking each other around as blocks. Or in Vs Arcade Games when they all fell out of the maze, Orange ran past Red to go catch Yellow. While yes, Yellow fell from higher, Orange could have at least gone and helped Red up afterward. And in building contests, which Orange is usually the judge of, the only prize Red ever got was from Yellow.

In all these cases, yes, a problem or imbalance existed already for the whole group. But it's always seemed to be consistently a little worse for Orange and Red. And that's why I'm not as surprised at what happened in Lush Caves. But also, why I am so happy with what happened afterward.

The episode itself was just a culmination of all the anger and resentment of everything going on finally coming to a head. Orange was sick of being dragged into danger by Red. Red was sick of being overlooked and their feelings ignored by Orange. That battle itself may not be all that surprising anymore given the prior animosity between the two.

This fight could have broken their friendship permanently. If either one refused to stop, if either one took the others' actions personally and refused to forgive, this could have marked the point where every little action got to be too much, and they could have broken that bond for good.

But this is the Color Gang. None of them can hold a permanent grudge against each other to save their lives. Especially not Orange, who would kill to save them even after only having known them a few minutes. And especially not Red, who doesn't have a hostile pixel in their body.

So they did stop. They did forgive. And more than that, they realized something was wrong. They realized that how they were acting, especially toward each other, was wrong. While this was more clearly shown for Orange, I think it was true for Red too.

Because when you look at their actions afterward, they change. For the rest of the series, Orange has put more focus into consistently helping, trusting, and supporting their friends - including Red. They stopped ignoring or arguing with their friends and stopped trying to solve everything themselves. Hey, Orange's primary role after their solo episode even became a support to the Warden. This doesn't seem like a role they would usually be as comfortable with beforehand.

And on Red's part, Red started being more careful to get others' agreement on their course of action. They let others take the lead when needed, and when they had a plan themselves they tried to make sure the others understood. They, too, recognized that they need support, they need to do things alongside their friends, not in spite of them.

Neither of them were perfect in this. Orange still has a tendency to want to do all the most important things themselves, and Red still struggles with acting too quickly before understanding others' feelings. But there's progress. They both recognize their mistakes, and they're both trying.

And most importantly...

They're finally doing it side by side.

I was gonna do this earlier but it was already so late at night that I decided "Screw it, I'll react to it in the morning".

And it's been raining cats and dogs all night and still is where I'm at. So the weather is screaming Gabby Stan too. XD

That's what I like to think that weather is saying anyway.

I feel like Gabby would love the rain and enjoy playing in it even when it's heavy rain. That's my headcanon.

Okay, okay, I'm NOT someone who hates it when my favorite characters get eliminated and call that 'bad writing, they should've won'. Because sometimes that doesn't make sense for the story.

I CAN see a scenario of Gabby winning in my head. BUT if that's not the direction they want to go and they want a different winner, that's fine by me.

If anything, if you're gonna ask me who I think is gonna win... Ellie.

And I feel like the other finalists would be Jake and Fiore.

Cause I feel like Tom is a big threat so they'd want him gone and I think Alec and Grett are gonna get betrayed.

HERE'S MY BEEF THOUGH.

This plan, on Fiore's end, makes NO SENSE.

She has Alec and Grett on her side. That's an alliance of three.

Alec was successfully able to convince Ellie and Gabby to join them, and since both aren't close with the other three, that's easy. I can accept that.

So Fiore has an alliance of FIVE. The MAJORITY alliance.

Tom Jake and Miriam are the minority.

And thanks to Gabby, Fiore KNOWS that there's NO IDOL in play. So the minority CAN'T pull that trick on them.

So she and her alliance CAN successfully vote off one of the three. And ANY of the three would've worked.

Tom is the most physically gifted of the three and can be a threat in challenges, especially if he made it to the finale.

Jake has the social high ground as he's on good terms with Ellie.

Miriam is the glue keeping those three together.

Voting off ANY of those three would've worked on Fiore's favor.

"But what if Ellie betrayed them?"

She's NOT on good terms with Teal. The ONLY one of those three she IS on good terms with is Jake.

Helloo its the same anon from before xD I read your reply and I just wanted to let you know that I, who eats Fanfictions for breakfast, did read the tags and I know what I was getting into when I opened the link to the story so do not worry because I am not giving up the story, I love your writing style and I am honestly curious so I am excited for it, is just yk questions come to mind and odl what to do with them so... I'm going to see this as a question in good faith and will try my best to answer. First of all, there are a lot of posts out there that argue in favor of morston a lot more eloquently than I ever could, but I will try to give you my pov based on what you brought up in your ask.

Personally, I can see John and Arthur both as siblings or as a romantic pairing (obviously not at the same time xD). Many points have been made against it being a romantic relationship, pretty much the ones you made, and as such I have enjoyed fics and art where they are brothers and I even have written some fics that go with that viewpoint. 

Then again, I think there are also valid points to be made for a romantic relationship and arguments that sort of "invalidate" the reasoning behind them being brothers. 

Yes, they have a 10 year age gap. I personally know couples in real life with big age gaps who have perfectly healthy relationships while people close in age are horrible for each other. It's no big leap for me to think that those two characters could be in love and have a great relationship based on that. 

Did they get to know each other when John was 12? Yes. That doesn't mean Arthur perved on him from that day forward. Suggesting that always makes me wonder what weird character traits people put on Arthur. Kids are inherently unsexual. If that doesn't apply to people who hate the ship, then they should probably sort out their own feelings towards children. Fast.

Did they grow up together? While lots of people like to portrait them as brothers from an early age, I think different interpretations are valid as well. Yes, Arthur was 22. He was involved in the criminal activities of the gang and based on how you see the timeline there's a chance he's also been in a romantic relationship. The chances of him even caring about a 12 year old he doesn't know are slim. He could have very well not cared much about John at all until he was old enough to be of any relevance to him. 

I know siblings who have no relationship/love for each other despite growing up in the same house (while also actually being related by blood). So while I don't want to invalidate "found family," I can very well see it not apply here at all. Besides, I find it odd that found family supporters are so dead set on pressing the characters into a nuclear family with Dutch as the dad and Hosea or Mrs. Grimshaw as a second parent while John and Arthur are their sons. Found family is supposed to mean all kinds of different relationships.

And as an add on, while I too enjoy depictions of Arthur holding up a bratty John by his leg or the scruff of his neck, it's complete nonsense. Have people in fandom ever met a 12 year old in real life? A 12 year old boy can very well have the size of an average sized woman (and logically also weigh as much). Of course he's still a kid and needs to be treated and protected as such, but I feel like there is this fandom interpretation that depicts him like a toddler/small child to make any involvement with Arthur later on more scandalous. He was a street kid who managed to get by on his own for a long time. Infantilizing him for outrage is absurd. 

Also, in 4 years in fandom while being in contact with a large amount of morston shippers, I never encountered anyone who shipped them before John was grown up. There might be content like that out there, but I'm not in support of it.

Their established dynamics in the game can be interpreted to anybody's liking. Do they argue like siblings or haze each other to keep positive feelings they can't express without making themselves vulnerable at bay? Does Arthur go out and save John because Hosea tells him to, Abigail asks him to, he loves him like a brother or because he loves him like a romantic interest? Does Arthur tell John to go in the end because he wants to protect his brother or the love of his life? 

Yes, they call each other brothers. Just like other game members call each other brothers. If I remember correctly, Dutch even alternates between brother, son and other things. I don't see it as a fixed term that solely indicates one type of relationship. People in the past have also called each other bachelors and similar terms to not openly admit a homosexual relationship. You can take the term at face value or not.

Like I said, many of these things have been discussed in the past, so I'll skip ahead to what I consider the most important point. It doesn't matter. Nobody needs valid points to justify their ship. There are ships with characters that haven't even met in canon and ships that even cross fandoms. 

I take two characters that I vibe with and since I like romantic stories, I put them into one. I'm also especially fond of AUs which makes canon even less of a factor. 

You being disgusted by the ship is perfectly valid. I don't need to hear good reasons. If that's what you feel then I accept that. The only thing I ask is that other people do the same for me, and especially don't try to actively harm others because of their ships. There's a reason why terms like "your kink isn't my kink, but your kink is okay" and "ship and let ship" were established early on in fandoms. It's healthy for all the parties involved. I interacted a lot with fans who very much disliked morston and blacklisted the hell out of it and we still get along just fine. 

Long story short, people grow up in different circumstances with different experiences, and much likely they will project things onto characters and have a variety of interpretations of canon or simply enjoy making stuff up that isn't there. That's the beauty of fandom. 

I hope that answers your question? And thank you for your interest in another person's pov. Sadly many people in this fandom jumped to conclusions and hatred rather than taking a moment to consider other people's feelings. So kudos for that.

Aah okay, let's but on Orianna's playlist on to answer these *cracks knucles * So Orianna is an OC I have been developing for Clavis: 💋: what motifs/symbols do you associate with your ship? Motifs: Revolution, change, loss and loyalty The thing about Orianna is that she is part of the anti-monarchy faction and that is how she meets Clavis. I wanted to see a character whose obsession would turn to something more healthy. Her anti-monarchy ideals won't go away after getting to know Clavis, but are more productive. As for symbols I'm still figuring it out, but one very strong contender is clockwork and clocks in general. As Orianna is a clocksmith. (One very strong song in her playlist is the Les Miserables "Do you hear the people sing?" hahaha)

🌑 : what was the canon character’s first impression of them, and what do they think of them now? At first Clavis thinks Orianna as very entertaining and dangerous in her fanaticism for the anti-monarchy faction. He meets her as she creates a "spectacle" on a Bloodstained Rose day ceremony, wrecking havoc and trying to get Chevalier to make her a martyr. It doesn't go as planned and she ends up in Clavis's villa for community work. But as they get to know each other, he learns that she is full of hurt and loss which she hasn't had a chance to process. And that he loves to see her smile and be able to enjoy life again.

(Yeah... Orianna's story is very dark hahaha .... ) As for Aino: 🏹 : what is oc’s relationship with the other canon characters? Let's start with the big one, Nokto: Aino and Nokto don't get along at first. Mostly because of Nokto's protectiveness with Licht. But when she eventually learns about their past and Nokto understands that Aino doesn't want to harm Licht, they actually would get along pretty well. Aino actually doesn't mind Nokto's womanizing ways, and Nokto thinks Aino maybe just want Licht needs.

Yves: Yves likes Aino. They would bake together quite frequently and he thinks Aino needs all the help she can get to learn to be the proper lady in Rhodolite society. He can relate to her, feeling out of place in there.

Jin, Luke, Clavis, Leon, Rio: They think Aino is a good person. Chevalier: He and Aino have come to a mutual understanding that they can get along, but don't see eye to eye with most of the things. Mostly because Aino doesn't like the way Chev thinks he knows everything. And he knows everything and that annoys her so much xd

Sariel: Sariel had his times when he wasn't impressed with Aino, but she has proven to be quite a quick learner. In theory at least.

Gilbert: Finds it funny how much Aino hates him. But who wouldn't when your country tries to invade another. :) Keith: He thinks Aino is bit scary, but a nice person underneath it all.

And (if I remember correctly, its been years guys) at the end of the series when she starts to maybe get a crush on him, he tells her to go their separate ways and gets some distance between them, being the kind and responsible boy that he is. ^-^

So yes, in the end they go their seprate ways, which to me, once again, proves how healthy their relationship was.

I'm sure you know that an unhealthy relationship would have been if they stayed together, cause then, yes, you could maybe say it's "codependent" or something.

Tetra ducked under a cutlass that swung at her, the blade so close to her head she felt the swish as it went past.

“Why are there still pirates out here other than you?” Link grunted from behind her, parrying a sword that tried to lop his arm off. “Don’t they know better?”

Tetra huffed, kicking a different pirate that had gotten too close for comfort.

“Evidently these morons didn’t get the memo. Plus we’re a ways outside my usual sailing grounds, these idiots probably didn’t even know we existed until now. Thought we’d be easy pickings.”

She grumbled, ducking under the same sword again. So much for a quiet afternoon.

Their course had been set for Outset to restock their supplies and for Link to visit his family, the sea was calm, the sun was bright, and Link had been trying to teach himself a new knot one of the sailors on Windfall had shown him. Tetra had been going between keeping an eye on their course to teasingly critiquing his work, pointing out whenever he’d looped a strand the wrong way or pulled a knot too tight.

Link had been taking it with the occasional insult flipped back at her, and she’d gotten so distracted by their back-and-forth that was maybe flirting that when Gonzo spotted the ship off in the distance, she barely had time to react before they’d been overtaken and boarded.

Stupid mostly uncharted waters.

She finally disarmed the pirate that’d been trying to lop her head off, and she roughly kicked him backwards, allowing him to scramble back to his own ship.

Coward, Tetra thought with a snort, leaping forward to stop another pirate from slicing at Senzo while his back was turned.

She chased that one off her ship after mere seconds as well, then went after a couple more, each one fleeing after only a few moments of fighting her. Tetra panted as she took only a second to catch her breath, and looked around for a new target.

She’d gotten a bit aways from Link in the last few minutes, and as she caught sight of his distinctive blue shirt, she narrowed her eyes, seeing him face who couldn’t have been anyone but the opposing ship’s captain.

He was a tall, lanky man, with pale eyes and a dark beard that did little to hide his missing teeth, and an ugly leering smile that reminded her a bit too much of Ganondorf’s. He and Link were exchanging blows with their swords, but Tetra could see the opposing captain was remarkably quick, and somehow holding his own against her boyfriend.

Tetra wrinkled her nose in distaste at the slimy pirate, and she started to make her way towards the two in case Link needed backup.

She had to fight back several more pirates on the way, hadn’t she already chased off that guy, while also keeping a close eye on the sword fight Link was currently engaged in.

She was nearly there when something in the opposing captain’s face changed, an ugly sort of realization as Link easily parried yet another blow. Tetra sped her steps up as she watched the captain grab something from inside his coat, something small and bright that he thrust forward—

Tetra didn’t think she’d ever heard a more terrifying noise in her life.

Link made a small noise of confusion, then dropped to his knees, staring at the dagger embedded in his side with a puzzled expression on his face.

The captain grinned and Tetra screamed, a wordless mix of rage and fear for her best friend. She charged at the man who’d stabbed Link, sword flashing as she sliced at him and he easily parried it away.

He’d stabbed her best friend he’d stabbed her boyfriend and HE WAS GOING TO PAY.

Tetra knew her rage was making her sloppy, and a voice that sounded suspiciously like her mother’s chided her for letting it fuel her, but she didn’t care, Link had been stabbed.

The opposing captain was somehow managing to hold his own despite her rapid hits, and when Tetra accidentally overextended herself he struck, slicing quickly and knocking her blade right out of her hands. He kicked her to the ground before she could react and planted a boot on her back, pressing down so tightly she could barely breathe no less get out from under it.

His mouth hitched up into a smirk behind his beard as he raised his cutlass, and Tetra thrashed under his foot, mind racing as she looked for a way out of this. Her sword was too far away, she couldn’t reach her pistol, Link was hurt and all she could do was yell in frustration and anger as the sword swung downwards toward her back.

Then the blade was parried with a firm clash.

Tetra stared in astonishment as suddenly Link was by her side, parrying the blade and shoving the opposing pirate captain in the chest with a furious look. The kick along with the reappearance of the teenager he thought he’d stabbed surprised the man so much that he was knocked completely off-balance, and went flying straight over the edge of the boat with a distant splash.

“Link?!”

Tetra gaped at him as she rolled over and got her breath back, and he turned to her, holding a hand out as he studied her intently.

“Are you okay?” he asked in a worried voice, and she gawked at him as she pointedly sat up without his help and ignored her now-sore middle.

“Am I okay?! Link you were just stabbed how are you standing?” she spluttered, and Link’s worried face turned to a smug one. He grinned at her, then held up the thick rope he’d been knotting before the attack.

A knife was embedded deep in the knots, the same one Tetra thought had been buried in his ribs.

“Turns out it’s hard to get stabbed through knots this thick,” he grinned, giving it a swing. “Remind me to thank that guy on Windfall.”

Tetra felt a wave of relief soak through her as she stared at Link, barely paying attention to her crew driving off the rest of the pirates behind them. She leaned forward until her face was a few inches from the freckles that faintly dotted his nose, really looking at him and reassuring herself he was okay.

And then, having reassured herself, she socked Link in the stomach.

He grinned, but stumbled more then he usually would have at her punch, wincing slightly through his smile. Tetra had to grab his arm to stop him from tripping and she felt her worry flare up again as he blinked at her.

“Of course... it might have nicked me a little,” he mumbled sheepishly, and Tetra glared at him, helping him sit down onto the deck and lifting up his shirt.

A smallish smear of blood coated his side, a moderately deep cut bleeding sluggishly. It wasn’t a life-threatening stab wound like it would have been but for his knots, but she could tell it wasn’t pretty.

“You are such an idiot,” Tetra snapped at him, then yelled for Niko to bring the bandages over. “How in the great sea did he manage to stab you anyways? You’re the hero of Winds for Din’s sake!”

“Was faster then he looked,” Link winced as she pressed some rags to his side. “Surprisingly well trained for a pirate too— ow!”

Niko finally arrived with the bandages and Tetra snatched them from him before shooing him away. She quickly began patching up Link, wiping the blood off and wrapping the cloth snuggly around his side and making sure it would stay secure while she muttered angrily to herself.

She leaned back to check her handiwork after a minute, and nodded to herself. It looked nice and tight to her. She was about pull Link’s shirt back down when it abruptly dawned on her that she’d just been putting her hands all over his chest.

His bare chest.

She felt an unusual warmth start to sneak onto her face, and she cleared her throat, quickly yanking her hands back. Link gave her a slightly concerned look, but she staunchly refused to look straight at him and his largely uncovered chest, wiping off the small amount of blood she’d gotten on her hands.

This was absolutely ridiculous. There was no reason for the flush in her cheeks she knew was there, she was around shirtless guys all the time! She was beyond used to it, half the time her own crew didn’t bother with the garments!

But... Link never really took his off. Which meant she really hadn’t seen him shirtless before now...

For Nayru’s sake.

“Tetra?”

She finally looked over at him again, those stupid blue-green eyes of his sparkling at her in the sunshine.

“Sorry for scaring you,” he said quietly, only half-guessing the reason for her agitation. “I really wasn’t trying to get stabbed.”

She huffed, trying to calm down from all the... everything that had happened in the past ten minutes. Goddesses was she a mess. This sort of thing never used to rattle her.

“Nobody is ever trying to get stabbed,” she grumbled, straightening her bandana, “and pirate captains don’t get scared. They merely extend concern for their crew. It’s much different.”

Link’s mouth quirked up into a grin. “Oh yeah?”

She crossed her arms. “Yeah.”

He tilted his head at her, and blinked innocently.

“But I’m not technically one of your crew,” he said, and Tetra huffed. “Which means you can be worried for me all you like.”

He sat up then, wincing only a bit as he straightened and tugged his shirt down. Leaning over closer to her, he gave her a reassuring smile to show he was perfectly fine, and something about the expression broke her resolve, making her throat feel thick.

She leaned forward and pulled him into a quick hug, breathing in the slight crisp, windy smell he always had about him. Tucking her chin onto his shoulder, she swallowed, reassuring herself he really wasn’t bleeding out on her deck like her mother all those years ago.

“Don’t do that again,” she muttered into his shoulder, and he nodded as he held her back, gently squeezing her.

“I won’t.”

They held each for a few more seconds, then Tetra pulled back and socked him squarely on the arm, making him startle.

“And that’s for scaring me.”

Link only grinned in response.

Fangs and Cutlasses (Chapter 1)

Author’s note: Here’s the fic I wrote for @the-duke-of-nuts as part of @sanderssidesgiftxchange. I went with your first wish, dukexiety with pirate!Remus and vampire!Virgil (you have no idea how excited I was to receive that prompt, I’m obsessed with both vampires and pirates, and dukexiety are my absolute beloveds), and I added in a dash of fluffy royaliceit as per the second wish because I couldn’t resist. This ended up being rather longer than I anticipated, so it’ll be a multi-chapter fic. The next few chapters will be out when I have time to finish editing them. Although this fic is dukexiety, Virgil won’t actually be in this chapter because this is mostly background stuff, but I promise he’ll show up in the next one XD 

Fic summary: Remus has come a long way since being exiled from his village. He's the captain of a pirate ship, with his own crew, and a brilliant first mate. But when his brother shows up out of the blue, Remus can't leave him behind again.

And, while trying to repair that rift, he meets a strange man cloaked in shadows who will turn Remus' entire world on its head.

There were few things Patton loved more than the feeling of the summer sun on his skin.

He sighed contentedly as he leaned back in his deckchair, soaking in the warm rays that danced across his face. At his feet, gentle waves crashed against the shore, sending up sparkling bouts of sea-foam which shimmered like crystals in the golden light.

As he let the heat push his heavy eyelids closed, he could almost imagine he was back in his childhood. The small archipelago he’d grown up on was cloaked in warmth nearly year-round, lying just south of the Meridian Line, a place that the sun’s rays never seemed to abandon, even in the middle of winter. Patton had spent his childhood charging through the shallows with the other children, sifting through rock pools under the warmth, and – when he was older – taking the boat out with his dad to go fishing. 

Since his family had moved to a small farming village further north, he’d gotten used to the cooler days and the sky darkening sooner in the winter. It was a lovely village, but it never felt quite like home. Though he liked the rolling green hills and patchwork fields around the village, the ponds cluttered with plants and the streams that ran through the valleys could never compare to having the vast expanse of clear ocean on his doorstep.

“Hello, love.”

At the sound of the familiar baritone voice, Patton opened his eyes and tilted his head to smile up at his fiancé. “Hey,” he greeted sleepily, his heart fluttering as Roman leaned down to press a soft kiss to his lips.

“I got us some lemonade,” Roman said as he drew back. He sat down and placed two rounded cocktail glasses on the table between their deckchairs. Each glass was filled with the smooth yellow liquid and ice cubes, complete with a twirly straw and a little umbrella floating at the top.  

“Thank you,” Patton said, picking up his glass to take a sip. He sighed, stretching out in his chair. “I’m glad we got this break,” he sighed, gazing out at the sea in front of them. Their set-up was just by the shore of the beach, with a striped umbrella to shield them from the afternoon sun’s rays.

“So am I,” Roman said. The two of them had been working hard on the farm that Roman’s parents owned. The birthing and planting seasons had been hectic throughout the spring, and though Patton had loved caring for the new-born lambs and sowing seeds, he was glad to get some time away with Roman.  

The break certainly seemed to be good for Roman. His pale skin had tanned easily, and there was a healthy glow to his cheeks. The sun brought out more of his usually numerous freckles, until his broad nose and wide forehead were covered with splotches of them, and his russet hair shone beautifully in the sunlight.

Some people, Patton thought, were meant for a life outdoors, and Roman was no doubt one of them.

“We could head up to the markets later,” Patton suggested, “if it’s not too busy.”

“That sounds like a wonderful idea, my love,” Roman smiled, reaching for his hand.

Patton squeezed tightly and leaned back in his chair, letting his eyes fall closed again.

This seaside town didn’t seem much different from any others Remus had visited over the years. The harbour had been bustling with activity; fishermen hauled in their loads, while tourists rushed to find their inns. The most expensive inns were right on the waterfront, with views out across the harbour and the sea beyond, nestled between shops and restaurants whose outdoor seating was perpetually full throughout the summer. Beyond that, there was a labyrinth of twisting, narrow streets, each bordered by tall buildings with painted white to keep the heat out, with rooves that jutted out and covered the roads in shadow even on a sunny day.

The place seemed to be, first and foremost, a tourist trap. Every second shop claimed to be selling some kind of novelty food for bumped up prices, or had racks of cheap jewellery that the owners would no doubt claim were made with some kind of precious stones. It was all a sham. Although the place looked pretty to any casual observer, it was only when you looked closely that you saw how the paint was peeling from the walls.

Remus wasn’t there for sightseeing, though. His crew were counting on him to bring back supplies, and he couldn’t waste any time.

The first order of business was food. They weren’t running particularly low, but it might be a while before they managed to land again. There were very few places their ship could feasibly dock at, since Remus and his crew had been banned from most coastal locations.

It didn’t take him long to find the market – the stalls always lined a street near the harbour, practically inviting pirates to come and steal their goods.

The street was already crowded in the mid-afternoon, the height of shopping time for tourists. The crowd would’ve provided good cover, if he wanted to swipe a few things from a stall – with all the hands hovering over items and snatching them up, it was hard for anyone to keep track of who’d paid and who hadn’t, and the mass of bodies jostling each other would provide cover for his getaway.

The extra pairs of eyes didn’t bother Remus; people had a habit of turning a blind eye to things that didn’t affect them.

No, the real problem wouldn’t be nosy tourists. The only real threat to him was the city Guard. Near enough all the towns on this coast had them, soldiers parading about in flashy uniforms, flaunting the crest of their various monarchs.

Remus had seen a few of them standing guard around the harbour walls – high-ranking, clearly, with fine navy blue uniforms and chest-plates bearing their king’s crest, hands resting on the hilts of large swords that were probably more for show than anything. Those were the guards the town wanted people to see – polished and imposing. The ones Remus was more likely to encounter would be the lowest-ranking guards, who were more concerned about showing off their uniform than actually catching criminals.

If he was quick, though, Remus might not have to deal with any at all. Behind each stall, crates and sacks of goods were piled high – since Remus would need to bring back a fair bit of food, those would be his best bet. He could easily carry two sacks back to the harbour, as long as nobody tried to stop him.

His eyes landed on a stall selling dried fruit. Full of nutrients, and they would last a while at sea. Perfect.

It would be easier if he had a companion, to distract the stall owner and the crowd while he swiped the goods. But they couldn’t stop long, so Remus had come alone, the rest of his crew waiting back on the ship, ready to depart as soon as he returned.

But Remus could provide plenty of a distraction by himself.

Smirking to himself, he surveyed the scene.

One cart was selling hats decorated with the feathers of exotic birds – well, Remus knew they were just feathers the stall owners bought in bulk and dyed with cheap, bright dye. Another displayed all kinds of games, little spinning tops painted bright colours... and a large box of marbles. That could work.

The stall next to that had scarves laid out across the front of it, with a conveniently placed sign announcing the prices. A couple of the scarves were trapped underneath it. Yes, this would work just fine.

Remus tugged experimentally on one of the scarves, and the sign wobbled a little. Perfect.

Now, all Remus had to do was snag a thread from the end of one of the scarves on the bracelet of a woman at the next stall, so that when she moved away-

The scarf was pulled along as she walked away from the stall, only a little way before the thread came free, but enough to make the sign topple and crash into the box of marbles.

The marbles scattered all over the floor, the box knocking a fair number of spinning tops off the table on its way down, and the crowd reared back as one to avoid tripping.

While their focus was on the ground, trying not to trip, and some stall owners tried to calm the people while others watched with interest, Remus grabbed two sacks of dried fruit and made for the next street.

“Stop, thief!”

Remus cursed. He was nearly at the end of the street when he heard the voice. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw a man dressed in the royal blue of the town guard, and dashed down an alley as he passed. Thankfully, the alley opened onto another street, this one not quite as busy. Through the backstreets and alleyways, up and down flights of stairs, and even vaulting over low walls and crates, the footsteps behind him never slowed. Remus had lost track of direction – he could be running the opposite way from the harbour for all he knew, but what mattered was finding a way to ditch the guard.

He ducked into another side street, and nearly slammed head-first into a wall. The alleyway was short and narrow, with walls far too smooth to scale.

Behind him, Remus heard the guard chuckle, far too close for comfort.

“Well, well, well,” the guard drawled. “What do we have here? Some thief who thinks he can outrun the city guard?

Remus turned around slowly, surveying the situation.

The guard blocked the small entrance to the alleyway, pointing his sword towards Remus’ chest. No matter how poorly trained a guard was, it would be difficult for any sword not to strike true at this close range.

If he’d brought his cutlass, Remus would’ve been able to best the guard easily, but the sword was far too conspicuous to take into the market. He did have a few concealed knives on him, small and not good for much unless he had the element of surprise, so he just had to wait for the guard to get close enough for him to use them.

“Thieving scum,” the guard muttered, glaring at Remus.

One step. Remus slipped a hand inside his jacket and wrapped a hand around the handle of his knife.

“You know, folks don’t take too kindly to stealing ‘round here,” he sneered.  

Two steps. He was nearly in range now.

“I’m sure a night in jail will do you good.”

Three steps. Remus began to pull the knife from his jacket-

And the guard crumpled to the ground.

Remus blinked.

There wasn’t much that could put Remus at a loss for words, but he had to take a moment to find his voice when he saw the face in front of him, identical to his own, staring between the guard and the rock in his own hand as if he was as surprised by the situation as anyone else was.

“Roman?”

His brother looked up, shocked expression morphing into something Remus couldn’t quite name. “Remus...” he said softly, but then he glanced back down at the guard, and his eyebrows pinched. “What are you doing, being chased by a guard?”

Remus folded his arms in the way he’d always done when one of the neighbouring farmers caught him mucking about in their barns or letting down the wheels of their tractors. “I was just getting some supplies.”  

Roman narrowed his eyes. “What, so you’re some kind of common thief now?”  

“A pirate, actually,” Remus said proudly. “Captain of my own ship and everything.”

For some reason, Roman didn’t look any more impressed by that.

Remus turned his attention to the unfamiliar man next to Roman. He was a good foot shorter than Roman, and much slighter, just visible behind his shoulder. Roman was standing just in front of him, protectively. He had warm brown skin, with dark curls framing his round face, and freckles splashed across his nose.

“I don’t believe we’ve met before,” Remus said with a smile that was probably more than a little strained.

“Right,” Roman said. “Remus, this is my fiancé, Patton. And Pat, this is Remus... my brother.”

“Hey, Ro-bro got himself engaged!” Remus cheered, clapping Roman on the back.

“I’ve told you to stop calling me that,” Roman muttered, but Remus could sense a hint of affection in his voice.

Patton was glancing between the two of them with wide eyes, but after a moment a smile formed on his face. “Well, it’s lovely to meet you Remus,” he said brightly, though the confusion in his eyes hadn’t quite faded.

“The pleasure is all mine,” Remus said grandly, bowing for good measure.

Patton giggled a little at his antics, and when Remus straightened up again, his smile seemed a little warmer.

“What are you doing here anyway, Ro? Bit far from the village,” Remus said.

“Oh, we’re on holiday,” Roman said. “We were just on our way to the markets.”

Remus remembered the mess he’d left behind him there. “Yeah, I wouldn’t go there for a while if I were you,” he said.

Roman narrowed his eyes. “What did you- actually, never mind. What are you doing here?”

“I told you, getting supplies. My ship just stopped for a few minutes, I need to head back soon.”

“You do?” Roman asked, his voice a little smaller than it had been a moment ago.

“Yeah,” Remus said, feeling something strange clogging his throat. “I’m a bit late already, Janny will be on my case about that.”  

He looked at his brother. Roman had the calloused fingers of a farmer, but his features were still soft. He was clean-shaven, because of course he had a steady supply of soap and clean water, and could shave without the rocking of the boat making him nick his own skin with the razor.

Remus felt like an impostor, an imperfect copy, with his greasy, matted hair and patchy stubble; his bushy moustache and battle-hardened glare; his sallow skin and sunken eyes. Roman had the innocent eyes of someone who’d never had to plunge a cutlass into an enemy’s gut, the knowledge that it was his life or theirs never dampening the guilt that burned in his stomach every time he watched the light leave someone’s eyes.

Remus had wanted to keep Roman away from this life, but the thought of leaving his brother again, so soon after having found him, made something twist in Remus’ stomach more painfully than any knife.

“You should come with me,” Remus offered.

“What?” Roman asked.

Remus paused for a moment. Even he was a little surprised by his own words, but now that they were out he couldn’t deny how much he meant them.

“Come with me,” Remus said, more decisively. “On my ship. We do plenty well for ourselves, all things considered, and we could do with the extra manpower. You can bring your fiancé along too.”

Roman’s mouth opened and closed a few times, and Remus would’ve revelled in seeing his loudmouth brother speechless for once if he wasn’t still trying to process seeing his brother at all. “We left all our stuff back at the inn,” Roman said eventually.

Then, surprisingly, Patton placed a hand on his arm. “We didn’t bring much with us anyway,” he shrugged, giving Roman that same bright smile he’d offered Remus earlier. A silent discussion passed between the two of them, and Remus felt a sudden aching in his chest at the realisation that he couldn’t read his brother’s facial expressions anymore.

“Patton, darling, I can’t ask you to come and uproot your whole life,” Roman said.

“You are my life, Ro,” Patton said, with a sappy expression that made Remus want to gag but seemed to make Roman actually tear up a little. “I’ll go wherever you go. I do like the village, but I want some adventure, and I do miss the ocean so.”

Roman gazed at Patton for a long moment, then he turned to Remus. “I guess we’re going. As long as you don’t crash the ship into rocks or something.”

“No promises!” Remus grinned, racing past them out of the alleyway. “Come on, I’ll introduce you to my first mate.”

Patton wasn’t sure what he’d expected a pirate ship to look like. Perhaps a large vessel stocked with cannons to shoot down enemy ships. The sails might be black and ragged from battles, and maybe a flag bearing a skull-and-crossbones would fly from the top of the mast.  

But the ship that Remus led them to seemed relatively normal, just a little bigger than a large fishing boat. There were no cannons, or imposing flags. The sails were a plain white, if a little faded and stained with age. There was absolutely nothing remarkable about the ship. Patton wondered, briefly, if Remus was a pirate at all, or if he’d just made up a tall tale for his brother.

The only thing that set it apart from the other boats in the harbour was the man pacing in front of it. He was far more finely dressed than the fishermen who frequented the harbour, in dark clothes with gold accents.

Patton wouldn’t even have thought he was a pirate, but from the way he stalked towards Remus there could be no doubting that he recognised him.

“What took you so long?” The man snapped. “We should have left twenty minutes ago. And who are they?”

Remus seemed to ignore the fiery glare the man fixed him with, instead slinging an arm around his shoulders.

“I think introductions are in order! Roman and Patton, meet Janus, my first mate. He’s the one who keeps things ship-shape around here,” Remus announced.

Patton giggled at the pun, but Roman narrowed his eyes at the pirate they’d just been introduced to.

Janus looked the two of them up and down. He had a black patch over his left eye, a thin scar shooting out from the top and bottom like a bolt of lightning, starkly pale against his dark, coppery skin. There was something electrifying, too, about the calculating gaze of his golden-brown eye, that seemed to stare right past Patton’s defences, as if reading his deepest secrets from his face like an open book. It made his spine shiver with something thrilling.

Then Janus clapped his hands decisively, nudging Remus’ arm off his shoulders. “Very well, then. Remus, say goodbye to your new friends, we need to go.”

“They’re coming with us.”

That made Janus falter.

He rounded on Remus, though Patton couldn’t help noticing the fondness in his look of exasperation. “For the last time, Remus, we can’t just adopt every stray you see.”

Roman huffed, folding his arms in a strikingly similar way to how Remus had stood in front of the two of them before. “Isn’t Remus the captain? Surely if he says we can join the ship, we can.”

Janus smirked, which made Patton’s heart flutter, and he could see a slight flush appear across Roman’s cheeks. Perhaps Patton was getting a bit ahead of himself, but Janus was very pretty, and although Patton and Roman were polyamorous, it had been a while since either of them had dated someone else. Perhaps this little adventure could have more perks than he thought.

“Surely Remus told you,” Janus said, drawing Patton out of his daydream. “He may be the captain, but the two of us run this ship together. All major decisions – say, new members joining our crew – have to be approved by both of us. And I just don’t know if we have the extra space to spare.”

“Roman’s my brother,” Remus said. “See the family resemblance?”

Instead of answering, Janus looked up at the sky as if one of the spirits would swoop down and save him. “I don’t have time for this today. Alright. A long-lost brother, and...”

“Roman’s fiancé,” Patton supplied.

“Right. This isn’t a family vacation, you know.”

“We know. We’re serious about this,” Patton said.

Janus looked at him. “And what use could you two be to the ship?”

“Ro took down a guard earlier,” Remus offered. “He’s always been good in a fight, we could always use that.”

Roman raised his eyebrows at Remus, in what Patton thought was probably sibling-speak for, You didn’t say we’d have to fight anyone!

Remus just shrugged, gesturing to Janus as if to say , Don’t worry, I’m just trying to convince him, which made Roman’s shoulders relax.

Janus was looking Roman up and down, as if mentally pitting him against opponents to see how he’d fare, though his gaze lingered appreciatively on his biceps. “I’d have to train this one up,” he murmured, “but he has potential.”

Remus beamed at Roman, as if Janus had just given him the most glowing compliment.

“And you?” Janus turned to Patton. “What can you do?”

“I can sail a boat,” Patton said. “Pretty well, actually.”

Janus looked at him again for a long moment, making Patton’s heart do a little flip.  

With a final nod, Janus turned around, already making for the ship as he spoke. “Well, come on then. We don’t have all day.”

Remus whooped, patting Roman on the shoulder as he followed Janus.

Patton glanced at Roman, and together they stepped onto the ship.

Favourite thing about them

Everything His personality! I love how he is capable of being super serious and cold but also the sweetest guy ever! In the first season, especially near the start, he was the most sarcastic guy ever, and was just done with EVERYTHING, but under all that he's genuinely sweet, just look at him in Cross Duel XD

(I also really love his dub voice. It may sound a bit too old but it's really good, especially how he can sound like a fed up parent one second then a very loving brother the next)

What happened to him at the end. His way of getting Yuma to duel him in the final duel episode was a bit weird, and his attitude was not like him at all. I feel like it would have been more in character for him to be like 'I don't want to do this, but I have no choice, it's what I was entrusted to do...buuuuuut if you maybe duel me I'll have a reason not to' rather than the cold act he put on. I get that it was to raise stakes and all, but you can have a high stakes emotional duel without making one betray the others, like Joey and Yugi's duel in the Duelist Kingdom Arc. Also I am not happy that he was the only one who didn't get to stay on earth. If frickin' VECTOR deserved a normal life so did he!

i do definitely find toxic romantic relationships more interesting, in the same way i find toxic dynamics or platonic/familial relationships more interesting too. i think characters expose a really ugly honest side of themselves when they're around people who make them worse and as a writer that's way more fun to write !! i could go on about how much fun it is to write toxic dynamics in any capacity but i will. keep this as short as i can lol

i do enjoy found family / healthy relationships don't get me wrong !! but a lot of relationships people argue are healthy in fanon spaces actually make me uncomfortable - not for the actual ship itself, but for how fanon takes it as unproblematic when often there are actually loads of problems / toxicity within the ship. for example, ppl cite like. ckarlnapity as a ship without problems, or a ship that would work fine if they resolved their miscommunication - i fucking LOVE c!karlnapity and absolutely have written them this way (and will do so again dkjfkdj) but this interpretation feels like it's missing the core of these characters and how... incompatible i think they are with each other. that doesn't mean i don't enjoy it, but the way fanon media tends to gloss over the darker or unhealthy parts of this ship leaves me unsettled. at least w ships like c!awesamdream there's nobody pretending they're holding hands singing kumbaya in any situation other than being locked in a box with each other LMAO /j

also i tend to gravitate more towards unhealthy dynamics because it's more interesting to have conversations with fans without jumping through the disclaimers of "i know this is bad in real life and do not condone this behaviour and understand the consequences of reality etc"?? the people i've met that are also c!awesamdream shippers are so fucking talented and analytical and their aus are so interesting to me.

On Tess Revised

So about a year ago I did a head dump of info on Tess, but I wasn't quite happy with her backstory (and spent some time wondering if she was even a Warrior of Light or essentially an npc). But since getting her to Endwalker I've been rotating her in my head over the last few days and have made some revisions that I'm more happy with!

Biggest change: I now ship her with G'raha.

Tess Chamomile

29 years old at the start of ARR

Parents were a pair of adventurers in Eorzea, her mother a Sharlayan from the colony and her father an orphan from Gridania.

When they died, she and her younger brother, Fred, were shipped off to Old Sharlayan to live with her mother's brother's family.

Her aunt favorited her own children over the Chamomile children, and Tess wasn't able to receive the same higher educational opportunities.

Is eventually able to get a job as a library circulation page at the Noumenon and move out on her own.

Fred becomes a gleaner.

Strikes up a romance with a bright young scholar who was inspired by the words of Louisoix to follow him to Eorzea.

Tess's relatives find this out and prevent her from going, so he goes off alone.

The best anyone can tell is he died in the Calamity but the details are hard to track down.

Tess is pressured into marrying the son of an influential forum member who (the son) is a researcher at the Studium.

Tess initially tries to make it work but grows more and more disillusioned and trapped. (He relies on her as a research assistant but never credits her contributions).

Eventually works up the nerve to ask for a divorce and is refused.

Feeling very trapped, comes up with a plan to have an affair with one of her husband's colleagues and get caught to infuriate him.

The plan works, at the expense of her reputation.

Goes "screw this, I'm out of here" and travels to Eorzea to study at the Arcanists' Guild where the plot of ARR starts.

Develops kind of a star struck crush on Cid since he's, like, Cid Garlond and he's actually supportive of her research interests and gives her credit on projects.

Except Cid is really fucking clueless and too busy being divorced with Nero to return her feelings.

Eventually around the end of the Omega raids she decides that this is not a healthy situation for her and she needs to emotionally move on.

PREVIOUSLY there was this G'raha Tia guy that she only realized was flirting with her when he kissed her right before locking himself in the Crystal Tower.

So she never really emotionally unpacked that because she assumed she wouldn't see him again.

And then Shadowbringers happens and Tess and the Exarch have to learn to relate to each other not as figureheads.

She starts developing feelings for him, but he's closed off because he's old and tired and assumes no one would feel for him in that way, and also he keeps expecting to sacrifice himself.

Then he gets put back into his 24 year old body on the Source and starts going "hey, maybe I can have a life now."

And as Endwalker starts they both like each other, know that they like each other, everyone else knows they like each other and wants them to finally get on with it.

Except then they all travel back to Old Sharlayan and Tess's past rears its head.

So she emotionally closes off while they're there.

With the distance in Garlemald start to come back together.

Before she teleports to the moon she kisses him, echoing him previously at the Crystal Tower that she would forever regret it if she didn't.

They FINALLY get together after Tess gets back from the moon (night visitation cutscene, anyone?)

And that's as far as my mental wanderings have gone since that's where Tess is in the MSQ (just before Vanispati).

If this sounds like I'm actually going to write something about Tess, I cannot promise anything XD I'm currently just rotating her in my head for my own amusement.

The fact that it keeps bothering me that no one really explained the meaning behind that dream. It seems likely, as I said in my previous run, that this is the curse trying to mess with their brains. Like the little girl in Crossbell who takes care of Coppe, who forgot the SSS, they are supposed to forget their Hero as well. But never actually confirmed or denied my theory. It is just something were they never ever give you an explanation for. Annoying, I tell you.

The Main Campus colors certainly also complement Altina, making it very likely that the Hair-Color really is the deciding factor here. Not sure if noticing that is worth replaying CS4 tho ^^’

That is what Cedric always wanted, right? Being part of Class7. It would have been interesting to see how this would have gone. Tho I certanly would have added Shirley to the mix at some point, if not for shipping reasons, than at least to see how the Sanguin Oger would do in a normal day to day school-life-scenario ^^’ I mean, she must have at least something along the lines like that now that she temporarily joined the main Campus to babysit Cedric, but we never see any of it, nor do we ever hear her saying anything about it. Truly a missed opportunity. But I guess the chance to think about how thing would have gone if this + Shirley would have been the new class 7 at some point is worth replaying this game somewhat. “What if” - situations are always nice to think of, after all.

There is a bit of a plothole in the end of CS3. Millium pushed Altina away, when she tried to protect Rean. The sister actually had a small conversation for a moment shortly before Millium sacrificed herself, but next we saw Altina she was unconscious in Musses Arms. No idea when and how she lost consciousness, because she didn’t react to either Millium dying nor Rean losing his sanity. There is a possibility that she only temporally gained consciousness when Cedric tried to kill her, as her bodies survival-instincts started to kick in, but that she was to weak to stay conscious long enough and upon seeing Millium get hit by the Dragon, it might have been too much for her and she collapsed, just like Alfin did when she found Eugent shot on the ground. But once again, we never get to see if that is what actually happens. Sometimes I wonder if they just put her back into being out cold so suddenly to make sure we get her reaction to what happened in CS4, just in case we weren’t in enough pain from being constantly reminded of Oliverts death or missing Rean XD Tho once again, not sure if you can put that into any category regarding replaying or not replaying the game.

I gett that they needed to explain the small time skip and why non of class7 did anything in that time, but I think it highly unlikely to be in a relatively healthy state after two weeks of not eating or drinking anything. Then again, we can always use magic as an explanation and an excuse, which sadly is not the best way to deal with things. People hate the “a wizard did it” excuse for a reason.

Look at this and the state of mourning that the rest of original class 7 is in right now and then dare to tell me later that Juna was not just an insensitive, arrogant brat when she was reprimanding them for actually feeling sad and lost.

I know I alkways say that, but I have to say it again, original class 7 had so muche more going on for them at that point then new class7 had, making it even worse how Juna treated them without any regards towards their feelings and circumstances. Alisa here did not just lose a friend, and liked acquaintances, the person she loves is in the hands of the enemy in goddess knows what state. To blame for this is partially her very own father. The fact that this awful war that was the reason for all this is going to happen so quickly is because of her families companies (especially her mothers) cooperation. And to top that off, her sister-figure and close friend has betrayed her and run back to the enemy, the same enemies that was also partly responsible for their losses and the cause for the upcoming war. Not to mention los of people she cares about are currently missing. Imagine the weight on her shoulders, the pressure in her conscience and the pain in her heart. And the rest of original class 7 is in similar positions. Take Jusis for example. He also lost the person he loved the most and partly responsible for this and all the other bad things that happened and are still currently happening is his very own brother. Gaius as a Grahlsritter failed at his mission and with that endangered his homeland as this place is right between Erebonia and Calvard and will probably will get trampled over in the war. Machias and Elliot both have their fathers in their positions that weights on their shoulders and I could go on and on and on with that list. Aside from temporarily losing Rean and Altina losing Millium, what exactly is it that new class 7 has to endure at this point? The thing with Musse and Ash is a bit concerning for sure, but over all, they seem as carefree and exited as they always ware, like they don’t have a care in the world for everything that was going on. And then they dare to be so darn disrespectful to old class 7 and no one is even telling them how awful they were. That really is one of the biggest reasons to sometimes hate this game and not want to replay it.

And that darn bitch even thinks she has the right to be completely pissed off. That Osborne is Reans father, was his secret to tell and he obviously didn’t wanted people to know, so no one had the right to say anything, aside from Rean himself, who, once again, would have said something if he wanted to. Yes, it can be frustrating that Rean keeps stuff like that to himself instead of relying more on the people he can trust BUT how is that original class sevens fault? How does that spoiled little Crossbell-brat have any right to gather a mourning class 7 and spit at them like this?

And here we go, starting this absolutely bullshit mindset. Throughout the whole of Cold Steel 4, the game keeps pushing New Class 7 on you, forcing you to accept their absolutely stupid explanations for it and all that while nothing of this was making any sense. Rean, without any doubt, has a special connection to his first very own class 7 that he leads as a teacher, not as a unwilling leader. But those damned brats (Altina aside) know the man for half a year have no idea of even half the things that he has been through and most of the time, they were more a burden then a help to him and yet they DARE to not just believe but actually say out loud that they do understand Rean better then his friends and former Classmates that he knows for almost 3 years at this point and has gone through hell and back with them twice... trice, actually.

Right. Because original Class 7 absolutely has no idea that after everything that happened, after everything he has been through, after what he has done at the Grahl, Rean would be suffering. I mean, how should they even just have the slightest idea of what he is feeling after knowing him and the things he has been through for 3 fucking years? Seriously, saying that original class 7 doesn’t understand that Rean is suffering is absolutely stupid. Aside from Rean himself (and possibly his family) no one knows the amount of Reans suffering better then original class 7. And its only Junas pure arrogance that allows her to speak like that who love Rean more then anyone else.

That is literally the only thing this arrogant little bitchy brad is right about. BUT I am pretty sure that is something class 7 was already well aware of, but the game makes it look like Juna is the only one that understood it. If anything she MIGHT have had the strength of mind (because mind you, she lost almost nothing in this mess) to find it in herself to actually move, instead of being in a stupor of pain and grieving and hopelessness. BUT that is a point the others would have reached too, after getting some time to mourn, which is their right that just got trampled on by Juna.

I can not tell you how angry I am at this game whenever I reach this scene. I want to turn the game off and never touch it again because I can take that arrogance and how they treat it like Juna and her pals are all oh-so-great and care oh-so-much-more about Rean. This scene is the absolute worst part of the game. The reason I hate to replay it. And the worst part of it is, that they keep going on like this. Like only new class 7 can actually help Rean and the other are just there for... well... certainly not to help Rean because apparently they aren’t capable of that... or at least that is what the game wants you to think. Which is utter bullshit and Hajimari/Riveri proves just as much.

Look, I know what this scene was for but the way they executed it was awful. It puts Juna in a really bad light and despite the fact that the game wants to push her as new class sevens leader so badly, they already didn’t do her character very good in CS3 either. Instead of acting like class 7 is oh so awful and incapable of seeing Reans suffering, what would have been necessary, was a gentle reminder that yes, we understand that you guys are in pain, you’ve been through hell and lost a lot and still have a heavy burden on your shoulders, but please, let us pull ourselves together so we can save instructor Rean that WE ALL know and care about and want back at our side. Let us be strong for him. Together. THAT is what would have been the right way to get original class 7 out of their stupor and back into gear. Rei! I have this imagine in my head of you, Levi and Renée in the kitchen. The boys are close by in a playpen (is that what you would call it?) and you and Levi play pass the baby with Charlotte on one of your hips at all times.

Whether you and / or Levi love cooking or it's not generally your favorite (but isn't it?) Renée woke up one morning wanting to make blueberry muffins and it's become a family event as you pour and mix and laugh together and make a bit of a mess but clean as you go and make so much you put the extra in a cake pan.

While it's baking you check on the twins who have been playing with soft toys together and get excited for the upcoming sweets (I remember Léon is a blueberry fan!) and let Renée hold Charlotte, they share an unbreakable sisterly bond.

Levi takes out the muffins and cake because he doesn't want Renée to get burned but once it's cool enough lets her take them all out of the tin and you all sit around enjoying a a family made breakfast together as Renée talks about the next thing she wants to make!

Also anyone in our household like oatmeal? I kind of think that's a healthy, simple breakfast option in your household that you can add different toppings to depending on who likes what.

PS: Can I borrow Charlotte? Jeans getting baby fever again and I need to borrow a baby to hold him over LOL.

I'm going to answer this below the cut because you know me, and my response is going to be long as heck haha XD

Self-ship assumptions!

Levi and I cook a lot at home, and Renée enjoys being our little helper in the kitchen now that she's older!! We'll let her stand on a stool and watch over her while she fries her own scrambled eggs, or makes her own sunny side ups! When I'm chopping vegetables, I'll give some of the unwanted bits or leftover to Renée and she'll chop them on a small wooden chopping board with a butter knife haha.

When we aren't cooking or preparing loads of food, we'll take turns carrying Charlotte and cook while the other watches the twins (and make sure they aren't playing rough). Otherwise, Charlotte is still too young to be in the kitchen with us hehe, so we'll leave her in the cot in our room and have Renée watch over her!

Levi and I aren't really big fans of baking, but for our princess, we got all of them baking necessities and supplies haha. Levi did remind Renée that this is real food and ingredients and not play-doh or clay, so she has to be extra careful. We even got Renée a nice pink apron to wear around the kitchen! Renée wanted to eat blueberry muffins one day after seeing it in a children's cookbook we bought her. We all have lots of fun trying to make the mix! Renée kept wanting to add more blueberries into the mix because she knows Léon loves them!

Renée loves to carry Charlotte, but she would put her down on the sofa or couch after a while and complains that her sister is too heavy haha. Renée likes to play peek-a-boo with Charlotte, and Levi and I can hear their laughter in the kitchen!

When the muffins are cooled, Levi does let Renée take them out of the tray. She would gather our plates and put a muffin on them, and decorate it with other fruits too. Levi and I put the twins on their baby chairs and the boys make a mess eating with their hands (as long as they're not throwing food at each other.... we're fine XD). Renée says she wants to try making pancakes next time, and we're all looking forward to the next family fun!!

Oh yes, we love oatmeal in the Ackerman household!! Sometimes I make overnight oats for the boys, and I love making pancakes with oatmeal too!! Levi loves eating those pancakes as well, and sometimes he brings a jar of it to work for an afternoon snack!

Of course, you and Jean can baby sit our kids whenever you want!! Levi has very kindly reminded me to tell you all to stop giving Renée so many sweets (like the last time Jean did :x). Now that Charlotte is a little older, I'm sure you and Jean will have more fun playing with her now!! The twins might still be a little chaotic, but hey, they can spend their energy running around with Murphy!!
