Feelings- Garcia Flynn x Fem!Reader
Credit for GIF goes to the owner
A/N- Hello whoever is reading this. I've written fanfic in the past but nothing on tumblr. Please give me any tips you might have. I'm not the best at spelling and gramer so please give me help on that. I'm also not good with different tenses.
I originally wrote this with my name (yes self indulgent fic) so let me know if there is any names so I can update it! Thank you for baring with me and I hope you enjoy the fic! Any info and tips is highly welcomed!
Genre: Fluff i guess
TV Show: Timeless
Pairing: Garcia Flynn x female reader (She/her pronouns and dress outfit)
Warnings: None :) (if you spot any please let me know!)
I lay in my small bed, looking up at the ceiling. I've been awake for a couple of hours and as far as I know it's the middle of the night. Our last mission is weighing on my mind, but not because of the actual mission. Hell, that was one of our easiest missions. We time traveled, found the sleeper agent before they were activated and was able to stop him. Sure, there was a couple bumps along the road but nothing drastic. It was the feeling between Flynn and I, when we were alone that had me awake. It was the looks that were exchanged and the lingering touches. I can’t get him out of my mind, I can’t seem to think straight. I don’t know whether he felt the same way or if it was the adrenaline of the mission that made me feel this way. I can’t have feelings for Flynn, it’s not right. Wyatt dosn’t like or trust him, Rufus dosn’t really want to be around him, heck everyone except Lucy and I are on edge about him.
Now him and Lucy, that's another story, sure Flynn and I have, whatever we have going on but Flynn and Lucy, is something else. They have their moments like I have with him, but these tend to be more intense. I don’t know whether it's because Lucy gave him that interesting journal or because they have feelings for each other. Deep down, I feel hurt and a little jealous, but I make sure those feelings stayed far down. I subconsciously and involuntarily start thinking about little moments that’s happened between Flynn and I.
It isn’t too long before the alarm goes off, notifying that the mothership has jumped. I get out of bed and put my slippers on. I head out of my room, that I thankfully had all to myself, and go to where the lifeboat is. I'm one of the first people there, excluding Jiya who tends to always be awake thanks to her visions. “I like them, looks really cute.” She says to me, pointing to my pajamas. “Thanks, I’ve had them for a while, just never got around to wearing them.” I explain to her. “Trying to impress someone?” Jiya lifts and wiggles her eyebrows as she asks. I start to blush but try to brush it off with a laugh. “Agent Christopher is on her way.” I hear Connor say from behind me. I turn around to see him walk in. I watch as Lucy, Wyatt, and Jess round the corner, only leaving Rufus and Flynn still to come.
I notice that they all have some much warmer sleepwear on, and Lucy even has a cardigan wrapped around her. Everyone seems to be staring at me, most likely because I’m showing a lot of skin compared to the rest of them. Rufus and Flynn finally walk in, auguring about something. When their eyes fall to me, instantly becoming silent. My cheeks start to heat up as I try to ignore Flynn's eyes examining my body. “I’m going to go put something warmer on, I’m obviously out of place. Start without me, I'll catch up easily.” I say as I wrap my arms around my exposed stomach and start to walk back to my room when I feel an arm on my shoulder, stopping me. I look up and turn around to see Flynn taking of the jumper he was wearing, leaving him in some sweats and a tank top. He hands it to me, and I smile. I quietly put the jumper on, and turn stand next to him, as we get ready to be briefed on where and when Rittenhouse has jumped to. I bunch the ends of the sleeves in my hands, as it is a size and a bit too big, and as I do I feel a sense of safety and comfort in it.
“Alright, now that, that is finished Jiya, tell us the details, I’ll brief Christopher when she shows up.” Connor says and turns to Jiya. “Okay well, they’ve jumped to November 23, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas. Lucy, what’s so important about then?” Jiya explains. Everyone looks confused as Lucy shakes her head. I try to scan my knowledge of any history I know. “I don’t know, there’s nothing important about that date.” Lucy says letting out a sigh. My face lights up, “Robert Johnson!” I exclaim. Connor points to me excited. “Yes! That’s it!” He exclaims. Everyone looks at us confused.
“He’s a Blues player. The best blues player. He allegedly sold his soul to the devil at the crossroad to become a good player and ever since then death has followed him, like a curse.” I explain to the team. “Yes, he paved the way for pop culture today as we know it. He inspired Elvis and so many more, incredible artist. Without him the world would be an incredibly different place.” Connor explaines to the team, as he finishes his phone rings, and he goes away to answer it. “Okay cool, I understand how Mason knows this but y/n, How?” Wyatt asks. Everyone silently nods their heads as if to ask the same question. “His music ends up inspiring rock and punk rock music which I like. It was also an episode of Supernatural.” I explain, Flynn smiles and laughs a little at me.
Connor walks back, “Okay everyone, you have five minutes to get dressed and jump. Agent Christopher is here, just in time to see you guys jump. Now get to it!” He says as we all start to head to our rooms. I quickly get dressed into some plain clothes, we’re going to need to get changed when we get there anyway so, might as well make it easy for myself. I get dressed in 2 minutes and I put Flynn's jumper on my bed and head back out to the lifeboat.
Everyone is already there and starting to get on. Rufus and Jiya has just added another seat the other night, and it works so now 5 of us can travel at once. “Wyatt, you're staying. I need you here.” Agent Christopher says as he starts to walk on. “We JUST installed another seat, and you already said how Connor is going which obviously means Flynn is staying.” Wyatt protests. “I need you for something important here, that’s an order.” Agent Christopher says with her authoritive voice. Wyatt drops his head in defeat and climbs back down the stairs. I climb up the stairs and into the time machine. “Where’s my jumper y/n?” Flynn asks, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I say acting innocently. He lets out a little laugh and shakes his head. “are you all belted up? Well, we’re going so you better be.” Rufus says as he starts to mess around with buttons and switches.
Before I know it, we’re in San Antonio, Texas in 1936. No matter how many times we do this, I never get use to suddenly being in another time and place. Connor gets out first with Rufus following right behind him. I hear Connor start babbling about time travel as Lucy gets out. Flynn gets out before me, and waits for me to unbuckle and walk out of the time machine. I stand on the weird step thing, that goes around the machine. Flynn jumps down onto the grass and grabs my waist, lifting and spinning me around as he helps me get down, onto the grass. As he puts me down, I lose my balance slightly and fall into Flynn’s chest. He holds me until I stand properly. “I’m sorry.” I say giggling a little. “You can always fall on me.” He replies winking and walking towards the rest of the group. I feel my cheeks flush a little at the gesture. I follow him to the group to see Connor throwing up. Flynn starts to walk to Connor and I think he’s going to help him, but he just walks past, mumbling something. I shake my head and follow him. “So, what do we do now?” Connor asks once he finished throwing up. “We find clothes and steal a car.” Rufus explains and we start walking.
“Does everything look alright?” Lucy asks me, doing a 360 to show me her whole outfit. I nod, “It looks perfect Luce. It’s your color. I’m glad you got the hat as well; it makes the outfit.” I reply as I finish buttoning up my waistcoat. “Let’s go, the guys will be waiting for us. I’m pretty sure that Rufus was able to get a car, we just need to get to the hotel.” Lucy says as she grabs her small handbag. I nod and pick up my jacket and tie and follow Lucy outside to see Connor, Rufus and Flynn in a red convertible. I watch Flynn’s eyes as they take in Lucy’s appearance then move to me. I watch him and give him a little twirl. We both laugh at this. Lucy gets into the front of the car, with Connor and Rufus, leaving Flynn and I in the back together.
“Did you pick that outfit yourself?” He asks me as he puts an arm over the seat, behind my shoulders. “Yeah, I did. I liked the professionalism of it, Kinda like a suit but in a dress form. This is defiantly staying in my closet.” I explain to him grinning. “I'm not surprised. I like the matching jacket.” He explains pointing to the jacket on the floor of the car. “Yeah, I really like it too. It’s got a tie to go with the outfit but I-um, I can’t tie it.” I tell him, giving him an awkward laugh. “Where is it?” He asks, moving his arm so they’re both in front of him. I lean down, pick up the tie and hand it to him. “Now, I can only do this on myself so, you’re going to have to sit on my lap.” Flynn says to me.
I start to blush and slowly and carefully stand up. I sit down onto Flynn’s lap quickly as the car gains more speed. I feel his hands lift my collar up and place the fabric of the tie around my neck. He continues to tie the tie around my neck in silence. When it’s tied, he lets me tighten it to my liking. “How’s that?” He asks. I can feel his breath by my ear. “It’s perfect thank you.” I say as I start to get up.
I feel Flynn’s hands on my waist quickly pulling me back down. “I was hoping you would stay a little longer.” He whispers into my ear. I slowly and slightly nod and put my hands over Flynn’s, that were still situated on my waist. I turn my head to watch the world go by when I feel something on my neck. I start to move my head when Flynn whispers into my ear again, “Is just me.” I swallow hard and start blushing. Finally, I know how he feels about me.
I don’t realize that we’ve made it to the hotel until the car has stopped and I notice that Connor, Rufus and Lucy are getting out. “Okay lovebirds, we’re here.” Rufus says to us. I get up and start getting out of the car, “He was putting my tie on and fixing it up for me.” “Yeah, she couldn’t do it, so I did it for her. I can only tie a tie on myself, so y/n had to sit in my lap, for me to do it.” He explains, scratching the back of his neck. “Yeah sure, keep telling yourself that.” Rufus says, as Lucy and Connor walk ahead of us.

Timeless Ask; If you're a Flynn stan what are your thoughts on Denise? Especially considering what she does at the end of S1
It's curious that you should ask. The show never circles back to that or calls her out on it. Early Season 2 still has everyone but Lucy in a state of mistrusting Flynn, so no one thinks of it as the wrong move. Eventually, the (fanmade) Season 3 finale has Lucy throw it in Denise's face, but by that point it had been so long since it happened, not to mention Denise orchestrated Flynn's escape. I think that may have been meant to be her "making it right" with him. So ironically, Lucy came across as the jerk in that argument, at least to me. But back in Season 1, when it happened, Denise definitely crossed the line. She didn't just betray Flynn, she betrayed Lucy by using her as a pawn to capture him. Lucy seemed to get over it rather quickly, but on the other hand - she hasn't gone on the "Rescue Amy" mission yet so she doesn't have much choice but to be okay with it. What confuses me is that Denise's actions are clearly motivated by her lawful good alignment. So in that sense it does add up for her character to do this...but here's my question: What, exactly, is Flynn being arrested for? What charges? The show never really specifies. Denise mentions terrorism but like...how? She knows the truth now, why he stole the Mothership. He's also agreed to surrender it and been generally cooperative with Lucy’s plan. True, he committed armed robbery, but no one was hurt, and he was stealing the Mothership from Rittenhouse. Y’know...kind of like what the Time Team did toward the end of S1? When they stole the Lifeboat from literal government agents? And Denise was an accomplice? If Flynn is a “terrorist” then so is everyone on the Time Team.
Pretty much everything else is stuff that he did in the past - meaning there’s not a shred of evidence. How are they going to prove that he shot Lincoln? No body, no weapon. Sure, Al Capone said Flynn was behind him shooting Rufus, but...it’s the word of Al Capone. All of the examples are like this. The only crime he commits in the present is killing Anthony, and he can easily pin that on the recently un-masked Emma, especially since she had motivation to protect the Mothership as well. All of this is moot without testimony from the Time Team, and they never get called in to testify. Even if they had, Flynn has the journal. His lawyer can argue that Lucy started all this by leaving him detailed instructions. Speaking of that...did Flynn ever get a lawyer? I don’t recall seeing one.
Seriously, Denise knows about Rittenhouse now. She must know by now that Flynn didn’t kill his family, that he was framed. Even if she doesn’t, Ethan Cahill discovered the identity of Iris and Lorena’s killers in the dossier he made. Lucy literally hands Flynn proof of his innocence just before he’s arrested. (Conveniently, they never state the charges.) So my question is, just what is Denise playing at? Why would she do this? She’s the “McGonagall” of the team, she is mama bear, but she obviously trusts Lucy’s leadership in her stead. When Flynn goes on his first jump with the team, she immediately declares Lucy to be in charge. So why doesn’t Denise trust Lucy’s judgment call on this? If she trusts Lucy, and Lucy trusts Flynn, shouldn’t that be enough? Barring that, why is he arrested if Rittenhouse has been exposed to the world? That should logically lead to Flynn being exonerated.

Timeless Science FAQ
If you’re writing a story, or are in general unsure of Timeless’ time travel rules, then this FAQ is for you. It covers a lot of the big questions, and if you have something specific you need figuring out, just ask!
Note: This FAQ is not compliant to the movie because the movie broke all of the show’s established rules.
Is Timeless a Closed Loop?
No. Timeless is a Causal Loop.
What is a Causal Loop?
Short Answer: A time loop where nothing is set or pre-determined.
Long Answer: This post.
What is the difference between present and current?
Present means the point in time the series (or your story) takes place. Current is the time in which a particular person or item exists as their present.
Example: When Future Lucy goes to 2018, she is in the present, but she is not current. If she took 2018 Lucy with her to 2023, then Future Lucy becomes current, but 2018 Lucy is no longer current or in the present.
What is an overwrite?
When a time traveler returns to their current, they take the place of their previous selves which means they overwrite both the memories and physical body of their self who was current.
When do overwrites happen?
Every time someone returns to their current, no exceptions.
At what point does the timeline change?
The timeline changes the moment the time machine (occupied or not) returns to its current. This is how the Mothership can jump, but the timeline doesn’t change for the Time Team. They have a chance to go back and intercept the other team before the timeline alters. But once they leave, they will return to an altered current.
FAQ continues under the break...
Does the time machine have to return to its current to make the changes, or simply leave the time it has traveled to?
This can be debated either way. I maintain that if the time machine left the time it was in, but did not return to its current, the it would create a "soft change" that can be seen in the timeline by those in the current. Once the time machine returns to the current, then these changes solidify along with any changes their visit to the other timeline might create.
Who is affected by the timeline change?
Anyone who is not outside of their current will be affected by the change.
What happens to people outside of their current when they return?
If someone else changes the timeline via a separate time machine while another person is in a different time in the past, then when the second group returns, they will find a world where both their changes, and the other group's changes, exist.
If the changes of one group affects the changes of the other group, then the second group to return is the one who's changes will take priority and "overwrite" any of the other group's changes.
Example: Emma goes back to kill Mx. Doe. At the same time, Lucy goes back to save Mx. Smith. If Emma returns first, she will see that Doe is dead and this would be a hard change. She will also see that Smith is saved, and this would be a soft change because Lucy hasn’t returned yet. If Emma does nothing, then when Lucy returns, Emma will now believe Smith was always saved, but she will know she killed Doe and changed the timeline.
What if Person A goes back and makes a change that leads themselves to getting killed at some point before their current, do they live?
Yes. They will return to a timeline where they did die. They will be alive much to the surprise of everyone.
What if they change the timeline so they gain a physical wound, like a lost limb?
The physical body will be as healed or as broken as it was in the past when it returns to the current, regardless of what the new timeline says.
Example: If Wyatt changes something in the past where he now losses his thumb in an incident in Afghanistan, then when he returns, he’s going to have a hell of a time explaining to his doctor how he grew his thumb back.
What if Person A goes back and makes changes leading to them never joining the team, and instead Person B does? What happens when they return?
Person A overwrites themselves with memories of being on the team. Their physical body now exists where the time machine is. This will cause confusion to anyone Person A was supposed to be interacting with, but it will not be a blink and they are gone. The timeline change will cause a memory gap where others will have no idea where Person A got off to. Person B will have memories of going on the missions that Person A remembers. Again, there will be a memory gap as Person B should have been on the time machine, but for for reasons they probably can't remember, they stayed behind.
What causes the memory gap?
The fact that the human mind can't comprehend what is happening when the changes are made... so it just, kinda, ignores it. The mind if good at doing things like that.
What if while Person A from 2020 is in the past, Enemy B from 2020 goes to 2019 and kills Person C?
When Person A returns, they will remember a 2019 where Person C existed and all the changes that resulted in. Anyone who wasn't in the past when Enemy B killed Person C will only remember the timeline where Person C died. If Person C was in the past when their 2019 self was killed, then everyone in 2020 is gonna be in for a surprise.
Can someone vanish while in the past?
No. When you are outside of your current, you are safe from being erased. If you make a change that leads to your death before this trip, or your ancestor dies prematurely, then you will return alive and well. But there will be changes to the timeline resulting from you not existing.
Can someone currently dead in the present appear from the future?
No. If you are dead in the present, then you are still dead in the future.
Example: Iris died in 2014, she cannot grow up to return to 2019 to save her father.
What if that someone is saved and is no longer murdered or erased? Can they travel back in time?
Yes, they could travel from the future into the present. But they would have to be alive in the present. They would not be able to travel onto a timeline where they are dead.
Example: If Flynn believed Iris was dead, but her murder was actually faked, then she could travel back to 2019 to save Flynn. But she would be crossing over her own timeline and would have limited time in 2019 to do what she needs to do.
Why can't someone cross onto their own timeline for more than a few minutes?
Short Answer: The Law of Conservation of Energy.
Long Answer: This post.
How is it then that the Lifeboat existed for years in San Francisco on its own timeline?
Non-animate objects are not affected by the energy issue. Or if they are, the result is negligible and isn't considered an issue.
How do you get a causal loop inside of a causal loop?
I explain this here.
How does Jiya see the future?
She doesn't. Jiya is seeing the past. Even if it's hers or Rufus' "future," it still takes place in the past. And as it hasn't solidified yet, each time she looks she will get a different version based on what changes current events might have made.
End of FAQ - I will add more as questions come in.

So I never saw the Timeless movie but enjoyed your feedback on the show while it was in progress and agreed with you much of the time-- is the movie worth watching ? I'm scared it's going to be rushed, sloppy, and ly@tt garbage
First of all, thank you for valuing my opinion enough to ask. I haven’t rambled about Timeless in awhile, but I’m flattered you enjoyed and remembered my feedback when I did. ♥
Sadly, I have to report that Timeless finale is a movie disliked by Garcy fans, Riya fans, and gen fans alike. Pretty much the only way to like it is if you’re the target audience: Lucy/Wyatt shippers. Or maybe if you’re a very, very casual fan.
Full disclosure: I have not actually watched the Timeless movie. Like you, I feared it would abandon everything Timeless stood for, everything we loved, to waste its last moments on Lucy/Wyatt fan service. Aaaaaand I was right. Good call me on not watching it live. It might have broken my heart. I got the information later through friends and research. And tbh, hearing everything second-hand was actually hilarious. Yes, it was upsetting, but the writing is SO BAD, I actually laughed. Out loud. I may have cried laughing. It’s just… so bad. XD
I spent months dreading a worst case scenario for the movie, and when the time came, it was every bit that. (And then some? Somehow?) But when it got here, all of my fears turned to hilarity. I was RELIEVED. After months of being afraid, I finally felt free. I thought “This is what I was afraid of?” Because toxic shippers in the fandom got everything they wanted, just the way they wanted, but it is HORRIBLE! Because what they wanted was BAD. It watches just like the badly written fanfiction they demanded. Which is ALL this movie is: badly written fanfiction.
To quote Claudia Doumit when she read the script: “It feels like a fan wrote the movie.” Perhaps she means that in a positive way, but if a professional is writing “like a fan,” spoiler alert, it’s never a positive thing. It’s a “basic” thing.
Timeless movie is SO BAD that it is the least rewatched episode of all Timeless. Delayed returns on it are borderline embarrassing. Few people except Lucy/Wyatt shippers wanted to subject themselves to it a second time. Not to mention that support for Timeless and a third renewal fell into steep decline after the premiere. It seems not many people want more if this is the “more” we might have to look forward to.
imo, Future television writers should study this movie for direct examples of what NOT to do. It’s every worst case scenario, presented to you at breakneck speed. You barely have time to get over one absurdity before the next one hits. Not gonna lie. I’ll give kudos where due. I am legitimately IMPRESSED that writing managed to get every single thing wrong. Do you know how statistically impossible that is?!?!
Timeless movie really sort of took all the negatives, low points, disproportionate focus on romance, and bad writing of S2 and ran with them. That’s what it is. Concentrated S2, minus any good parts.
Basically, if you are a fan of Flynn, Lucy, Rufus, Jiya, Jessica, Emma, Connor, Denise, good writing, feminism, no plotholes, Riya, Garcy, or TIMELESS, please do not watch the Timeless movie. Save yourself. If your first (only?) priority is Wyatt and Lucy/Wyatt, go right ahead. It was made just (only?) for you.
Though obviously, I can’t/won’t stop you from watching. You may still want to form your own opinion, and if so, you have my full support. I hope that you find something appealing to make it worth your time. I especially hope that if you don’t, it doesn’t ruin Timeless for you, as it has other people. I still may watch it myself one day. I may. But not for entertainment purposes. Really just to mock it from a more informed standpoint. I’ve considered live-blogging the event. lol.
As is though, I basically know the entire movie through aforementioned friends and research. And I will summarize below the cut on the ways this movie failed Timeless and its fans. (PS: This is by no means everything. There’s just SO MUCH and I got tiiiired thinking about this monstrosity! Anyone is free to add on whatever I didn’t cover.)
[Spoilers]
Future Lucy gives the journal to Wyatt, the writer’s attempt to take something that has always been Flynn/Lucy’s thing and make it a L/W thing. (Somehow, we’re supposed to ignore that this Lucy already would have given her journal to Flynn in 2014. Conveniently, illogically, she has it again. So she can give it to Wyatt.)
Future Wyatt announces that Jessica was lying about being pregnant. Right out the gate. Great. Now, they get to kill her. Don’t worry, writing will strip away her entire character first so we don’t feel guilty when an “evil Rittenhouse agent” dies. It’s fine to kill a woman who was brainwashed from childhood, but let’s not kill a baby. We’ll just erase it instead. That’s different because reasons.
Writing introduces a new stipulation that people can coexist with time travel, but staying too long will kill them. This will come in handy later.
Also the new, updated Lifeboat will conveniently be able to do whatever the plot needs. Coexist? Sure. Autopilot? Suuuuure. Able to jump multiple times on one charge as if it had a nuclear core like the Mothership? Why not?!
If you thought Rittenhouse wasn’t scary anymore in S2, well hold onto this writer’s beer. Gone is any intimidation or purpose they once stood for. Now that Emma is running things, all that matters is stealing art and money from the past. Caution: Never go full two-dimensional evil.
Wyatt decides Jessica has to die and he’s the one who has to do it. But after half an argument from the team, he gives in and agrees not to. FLYNN will clean up Wyatt’s mess instead! Because suddenly, all that matters is he loves Lucy. Not his family. Not stopping Rittenhouse. No, he has to do this so that Lucy can be with Wyatt and Rufus can be alive.
Flynn tells Lucy that the journal can be unreliable. Despite this, he goes to 2012 and dooms himself because he believes, without a doubt, that Lucy’s heart will always belong to Wyatt, something he, ya know, got from the journal. And that neeeeeever changes. I mean, some guy said it was unreliable, but his name escapes me right now.
When 1x06 first aired and we heard the story of how Jessica died and how it was very much Wyatt’s fault, painting him in a negative light, I thought to myself (almost three years ago), “Wow. If we ever get a flashback of that night, writing is going to retcon all of that so hard so that it doesn’t look like Wyatt’s fault.” And lo! It’s Jessica’s fault now. She made Wyatt get jealous on purpose. She made him drink too much. She MADE HIM let her out of the car, per text orders of Rittenhouse agent. Poor Wyatt, what a victim. (Periodic reminder that Timeless hates women.)
Writing in the scene with Jessica’s death is so bad that we’re actually left with no alternative BUT to believe Wyatt was the original killer that night. Rittenhouse agent tells Jessica to get out of the car. This saves her life. No other person is seen on this road (save Flynn later) that could be the killer. And what’s the other course (the original timeline)? Without instruction, Jessica would have stayed in the car. And died. Wow, I can’t believe Wyatt killed Jessica in a drunken, jealous rage, but also I can. Also also writing just told us he did. If Rittenhouse wanted to make sure she was okay, they would tell her to stay in the car with her soldier husband, no matter what. That would save her. But what do they do instead? Hmmmm…….
Flynn kills Jessica and hurries to the Lifeboat, feeling the effects of coexistence taking affect. Set course for any time but this one, am I right? Wrong. Nah, better just die. Flynn sends the Lifeboat back to 1848 for the team and stays in 2012 so he can see his family one last time and then die. Because true character development is letting your five-year-old die violently two weeks before Christmas when you still have the life and power to prevent it.
Why does all of our correspondence end the same? Reply, reply, and then *crickets* Notice me, senpai. TToTT
For some reason (I mean, I know the reason. It’s bad writing by an idiot), dead Flynn’s fingerprints do not pull up when police find a John Doe on the beach. Despite the fact that he worked with the NSA and his prints would be on file.
I can’t with this woman:
Anywaaaaaaay, Rufus returns in a way that breaks all time travel rules thus far established in the show. Even though the team was traveling in 1848 with Flynn, suddenly it’s reset so that Rufus was there the entire time. Which, even if writing wants to claim that’s SOMEHOW possible, is still illogical because to overwrite that timeline, the characters’ memories would have also been overwritten. However, they remain perfectly intact with everyone remembering Rufus died. (Except Rufus, of course.)
Flynn dies because he stayed in the past too long. The writer would then go on twitter and pretend the matter was out of her hands, even though she’s the one who set the condition. She WROTE the rule that killed him, SO she could kill him. (This was previously not going to be a condition on coexisting time travel. Source: Interviews in which it was suggested that had Timeless been renewed for S3, Future Lucy and Wyatt may have stuck around for a few episodes.)
Arika would also say on twitter that, in her opinion, Flynn didn’t deserve a happy ending, to the uproar of many.
Writing tries to claim that Flynn was always the person who killed Jessica in 2012. Deer lord at the plotholes.
And the holes keep comin and they don’t stop comin. ♫
It’s Christmas now. For some reason. When the team returns to the bunker, there are Christmas decorations everywhere and we’re told that it’s Christmas in present day. Even though it was May yesterday.
There are more than a dozen ways to save Flynn at this point, but Arika doesn’t like him and just wants Lucy/Wyatt to bang. So you can bet none of them will be used. Also because she’s an idiot, the woman claimed on twitter that Flynn can’t possibly be brought back because he died while time traveling. Uh-huh. First off, what? He absolutely can be saved. Secondly, tell me how Rufus died again?
The characters acknowledge Flynn for a minute (in a toast give by WYATT, of all people) before promptly forgetting he ever existed until the end of the movie. When they need him again.
When Rufus wants to get intimate, Jiya tells him that she suffered some form of abuse while stranded in the past. That’s it. We will never talk about this again. Forget it ever happened. They brought it up just to scar Jiya even further and then ignore it. Anyone who tells you Timeless loves women is lying. Timeless wants to torture and torment women. FOR NO REASON!
Emma is the only person who cares Jessica is now dead. Because it sure as shirt wasn’t going to be her husband who like two days ago was desperately trying to get her to come home to her “family.” (Remember kids, women are just baby makers. If there’s not a baby in there, she’s garbage, and a minute spent mourning is a minute you’re not banging the next lady.) Emma plots revenge on the team, and honestly, by this point, I say let her do it. They’re horrible people.
Lucy boldly says she won’t be Wyatt’s second choice. So she can forget she said it in 10 minutes, when she’s suddenly fine with it.
Rufus is alive again, but all of his memories after 2x03 are conveniently erased. In his timeline, Lucy/Wyatt have been together this whole time, and he’s their biggest fan. He actually, canonically, verbally says that he’s “Team L/yatt.” That’s great because otherwise we’re left with a Rufus whose last words on the subject are:
“You are so worried about your stupid Lucy-Jessica soap opera that you forgot that there are other people here. Who matter to each other. Who love each other. If anything happens to her, Wyatt… I don’t think I can ever forgive you.”
Yeah, we can’t use that in the Lucy/Wyatt movie. Better erase the black man’s memory since he’s no longer serving his purpose: head cheerleader of the white couple!
Because Rufus’s memories are gone, all S2 development in the Riya relationship is gone with it. Damaging them even more after Jiya spent 3 years in the past (becoming hardened and almost a different person) and then watched him die. Don’t worry, writing will address none of this.
Rufus compares Lucy/Wyatt to Aragorn/Arwen. As a Tolkien nerd, I’ll throw down over this alone. IN WHAT WAY?!
There’s a pregnant woman in labor because leave no cliche unturned. Wyatt delivers the baby because what did I just say about cliches.
Lucy’s hormones go all a-twitter when she sees Wyatt holding said baby. Outside? In weather they admitted earlier is deathly freezing? (I mean, the mother might want to hold her own baby, but no. She has to get in line. Lucy absolutely HAS to have an epiphany that she needs Wyatt’s babies.)
Lucy decides that since Wyatt’s mistreatment of her was technically from another timeline, she can let go off all self-respect and tell herself he didn’t mean it. Also almost everyone else is dead or has their memories erased, so only they will know. Now Lucy can be with Wyatt and no one will judge her? Yay?
Despite Emma’s big speech in 2x10 about abandoning the pillars of “old Rittenhouse” and striking out on her own, she still backs down immediately when Denise makes Benjamin Cahill tell her to knock it off and surrender.
Emma dies at the hands of some deus ex machina random sniper. Letting us know the writer could no longer pretend she cared about any of this and just wanted to make Lucy/Wyatt bang. Are they banging yet? Bang now! Will this convenient and corny mistletoe move things along? Are they banging yet?
So Denise saves the day. In the most anti-climatic way. Meaning Rufus was never actually necessary and could have stayed dead. Actually, none of the team was necessary. Nothing in these episodes was necessary. All it took to end Rittenhouse was Denise and Ben. Roll credits.
Lucy decides NOT to save her sister Amy. Even though it’s what she has been fighting for since episode 2. Her reasoning? She says that trying to save the people they love has negative effects. (Let’s get one last jab at dead Flynn by saying, “Look at all the awful things that Flynn did in the name of saving his family.”) This is said in spite of the fact that Amy is SUPPOSED to be alive, and leaving her erased IS an alternate timeline, carrying the potential of being more catastrophic than SAVING HER and setting the events right.
PS: While in the past, Lucy JUST SAID, “What’s the point of saving history if we don’t save the people in it?” And then saved a stranger that was supposed to die. Writing for this movie does not care about consistency, only what’s relevant in the moment. And clearly the writer wanted Amy to stay dead.
Leaving Amy dead creates this lovely paradox:
Writer is too ignorant in time travel to understand that current timeline is erased, Lucy is now with Noah, and that is our endgame. Movie proceeds with Lucy/Wyatt ending.
The Mothership is dismantled for no reason. So now the team is stuck with ONE time machine for any future situations. Remind me again. Remind me. Why… did we have the Lifeboat in the first place? Oh yeah, Connor kept it in case the crew of the Mothership was ever stranded. And it came in handy after the Mothership was stolen. Right, who needs two time machines? Scrap her, boys!
In a flashforward to 2023, we see that Lucy is teaching at Stanford again. And she just got tenure! Which is a throwback to the Pilot, but completely ignores that it is not what Lucy wanted for herself, only what Carol influenced her into doing. Lucy’s dream job was to teach at a small college in Ohio. (Source: 1x14 conversation with Lindbergh.) But who CARES WHAT LUCY WANTS?! Certainly not a writer who barely knows the show upon which she is the showrunner.
Lucy is a thoroughly horrible fake feminist now. At her job, she teaches a general history class, but only talks about women in history. When a male student brings this up, Lucy says, “I meant to get to the men, but we just didn’t have time.Maybe in the spring, okay?” So he gets to sound sexist for valuing his education. Oh, wow, thanks. Feminism isn’t about ignoring men and acting like they’re not important. It’s about EQUALITY! Label your class as “Women’s History” if that’s all you’re going to teach. Also what if they don’t HAVE YOU next semester, Lucy?! They’re going on to their next classes completely unprepared. Remind me again how this woman got tenure? Because she didn’t get it in the Pilot due to her unconventional teaching methods. Somehow not adhering to your own course description is the secret to success?
Lucy and Wyatt have two twin girls named Flynn and Amy. There are so many bad fanfiction cliches I want to cry. TToTT Why are you making me cry? Never. name. the. second. generation. after. characters. that. died. It’s. THE. corniest. thing. Petition. to. stop!
Jiya and Rufus started “Riya Industries.” That’s right! They squeezed not one, BUT TWO fandom ship names into this nightmare. If you needed further proof no one was taking this movie seriously, here ya go.
2023 Lucy does take the journal to 2014 Flynn in the bar in Sao Paulo, but everything about it is wrong. Not only do Rufus and Wyatt accompany her, but the conversation leads to Lucy telling a man who just lost his family that he can change the past but will never save his family. Also he’ll die. And he should just accept all of that but still do what she says and sacrifice himself to save a world that hates him. And the entire conversation takes place in about a minute. I mean, people had a hard time believing Flynn would buy into Lucy’s story and do what she said after 2x08 premiered. Now? NO EFFING WAY!
A clip (deleted scene from Pilot) of 2016 Flynn at the end shows him about to raid Mason Industries and start us over again. In other words, he is stuck in Hell loop for eternity. His family will die in 2014, he will do horrible things he hates to save them and the world from Rittenhouse, and he will die unnecessarily to save the world. Then Lucy will go back in time, give him the journal, and start him on this quest all over again, knowing full well that he is a good man and this will destroy his soul. But she doesn’t care (actually smiles as she approaches him) because he “did bad things” and the writer thinks he deserves this. Even though Lucy is the one who set him on this path and one can EASILY argue it is all her doing and Flynn was nothing but her tool. Don’t worry, she gets her happy ending.
The movie closes on a young girl designing specs for her own time machine. Motives unknown, other than general interest, same as Connor in the beginning. The writer thinks this is an AMAZING open ending, leaving plenty of groundwork for more Timeless when fans get it renewed for a third time. (It is not. No one cares. You killed Timeless and flew all its plots into the ground.)
In conclusion, yes, worst case scenario on every single plot point. Timeless does nothing to prove or even suggest it deserves a third chance. I personally am left wishing it had never been renewed after the initial cancellation following S1. Let it stay dead now. Forever. It has done nothing to deserve yet another chance.
RIP Timemess.
#hopefully-happy#Ask#TD Reply#I hope you don't mind I published this publicly#I obviously had a lot to say#^__^;#In conclusion: It bad#And I would gladly meet with Arika in a Denny's parking lot#She ruined my favorite show#And then she came back with this movie and DESTROYED IT!#Also she hates logic and I love logic#She is my arch nemesis#I ranted way too long about this movie but if there's one thing I have in abundance#it's an opinion#Hahahahaha#Timeless

Advance Review of 4x01: Casablanca Nights
Are we.... are we back? Indeed we are, at least for one week before March 2020! 3x13 left us with many questions, and now 4x01 is HERE to answer... well, some of them. @katechaucer returns to give us the skinny on what to expect in the season 4 premiere, and we’re not sure we’re ready.
Season 3 of Timeless ended with Rufus and Jiya newly engaged, Flynn about to embark on a trip of self-discovery, Lucy and Wyatt contemplating what’s next for their careers, and Jessica on the run. Denise was planning to clear Flynn’s criminal record, and Connor… well, the man’s a genius, and we’d all be interested to see what he gets up to next. Emma Whitmore and Michael Temple are both dead, and presumably, Rittenhouse is no longer a threat. But the biggest question from the very last scene of Season 3: who is the unknown woman with Wyatt’s daughter, Sarah? She seems to have very strong and very different feelings for various members of our team, particularly Flynn and Lucy. And shockingly, she and Sarah have possession of the Mothership, which we last knew to be in 2014 São Paulo, Brazil.
Season 4 opens six months later with Lucy setting in motion an investigation into what the Time Team assumed was a now-defunct Mothership, only to discover that it’s actually been active… for a while. The team reunites to follow it on its latest jump, to 1954 Tangier, Morocco. There, they determine that a mysterious woman has been making contact with the giants of 1950s counterculture literature, including William S. Burroughs, Truman Capote, and Jack Kerouac, and try to find out who she is, what she wants, and who else she might be associated with. But despite their best efforts, which include new technology, a dance across a crowded hotel floor, and a chase through the streets, the woman always remains one step ahead of them.
On a personal level, the team is in chaos. Rufus and Jiya are happily engaged and planning a wedding, and Rufus’s career is taking off, so a return to the past is the last thing either of them want. Wyatt is conducting an investigation of his own and coming to terms with his daughter's mysterious involvement in the events of Season 3, while Denise fights personal demons that threaten her marriage. Connor is barely managing to stay afloat in his busy life, while Flynn finds a relatively warm welcome from the team after his return. Lucy in particular, who has been missing him while he struggled to make peace with his life and decide what to do next, is anxious to get answers about how they left things at the end of 3x13. Instead, she is frustrated at countless interruptions to her efforts, and begins to realize that their timelines may now differ more than she previously thought. But it may be a completely unanticipated obstacle that truly thwarts her attempts to find out where the two of them stand.
You won’t want to miss the Timeless season 4 premiere, in which everything the team thought they knew goes up in flames.

State of Bandit Fic
it’s been a couple of months since i posted one of these and i’d like to have one done by the end of the year SO here we go. under a read more for length. my apologies, mobile users.
plans for the rest of the year:
roisa secret santa goes up next monday. i still don’t know what i’ll post on the monday after that. i have another chapter ish of falling written, but idk if that’s a direction i really want to go with that novel. maybe, maybe not. idk.
word count maintained 2k during november with only a few hiccups. this month the first couple of weeks i had multiple days where word count was less than 1k. i’ve gotten it back up to 1k and think that the sudden jump from main focus on roisa hp au to main focus on rss was part of the issue there (when i go and make sure i get 1k in the hp au, i tend to hit 2k again, so there’s that). i plan to try and maintain the 1k to the end of the year with the hope that i reach a total of 400k written this year (at the end of november, i was at approximately 381.5k - give or take a few - which means i only needed to write 18.5k this month. i have at least 11.5k in various other non-roisa hp au projects from this month, not including any word count from second writes, and i know i’ve done at least another 1k (probably 2k or more) in the roisa hp au - so i should be hitting that if i keep up the 1k minimum).
that Christmas project i said i started last year and wanted to finish this year won’t be finished in time for Christmas most likely so my apologies. :/ it just takes more mental thought for less word count and my focus right now is on rss. sorry.
plans for next year:
i’m very tentative on these, but this is what i’ve been thinking about (and may or may not actually do):
focus on five days a week at 1-2k with saturdays and sundays off - still plan on keeping word count on one of those days but giving the other one for second write for the monday update because i’ve found that trying to do the second write and final edits and get 1k written is really hard for me to do, especially with longer updates. so i’m not going to push myself for that.
this also potentially allows me an additional day to spend editing or drafting other projects - like the roisa hp au or mexican stud or stuff like that which i want to be finished and go through another edit and possible betaing before posting - and while that might not be immediately, i like that space being open and available.
focus on finishing the rough draft of the first book of the roisa hp au and hopefullly get it through a second draft and betaing and polishing so that maybe it starts getting posted in july or august.
i was thinking july but we’ll see. i don’t want to lock myself into something like i did with ACAL this year, and while i like having it set up for the beginning of the school year, i’m not sure that’s enough time. i haven’t done this kind of editing/drafting/betaing before on a project - with the exception of noir fic, which...hasn’t been posted and got stalled in the fourth draft.
i also think that this would be in place of the monday updates instead of a separate update as i originally planned. because this first book is currently 16 chapters long, that would give me multiple months to focus on other projects while they’re updating - and that time off was something i really wanted in july and ended up getting mostly in october and november. so we’ll see.
possibly hosting roisa fic week probably around july 4th and then possibly hosting rss next year, as well, but with a longer application time (probably all of october, but unsure).
possibly pick-up lines month for january into february in time for valentine’s day. still not sure.
more focus on personal projects.
i want to write my original fic and i’ve been focusing on fanfic and that’s not a problem but i should do some writing on my original fic, too.
not sure what this means yet because i plan to maintain monday updates because that’s been a good schedule for the past however many months and i like having that schedule.
i did set up a blog for that fantasy thing i mentioned a while back, but it’s...more complicated and something i want to ease into before bringing it up real big. so. in the wings.
time off from social media in january.
not sure how i’ll be doing this either, but i just want to take some time off from facebook/tumblr/twitter/etc. i don’t think full blackout because i plan to still be posting links to chapter updates and such here, but i’ve found...i get really worn-out and waste so much time and i just. want to see what happens. idk.
so that’s that.
and then general fic updates:
posted but incomplete fics:
if you lived here, you’d be home now
no change from last update
started a reread, maybe that’ll help
jane: the real story
no change from last update
might be dead fic; i’m not super interested in continuing this
blame soulmate timer au
heart in motion
no change from last update
luisa and the child
aka the sequel to luisa and the fox
no change since last update with the exception of some brainstorming
sin rostro
holding off because other projects are louder right now. still excited for this idea, though
emilia antonia
started the next chapter.
probably going to be focusing on this as one of my primary focuses in the new year. actually i should poll about this.
falling
have another chapter written but not posted but not sure if want to keep that direction or not
started the chapter past that one as well
aftershocks
all of the current chapters are posted
back to back-burner
debating a flashback chapter
the time of your life
finished posting bitches get glitches
rafael’s fic - and the rest of this series - is one of my potential primary focuses in the new year. i’m still really excited about this series and where it’s going.
have working titles for both rafael’s and petra’s fics.
apparently michael, who i hadn’t planned to have involved, is maybe going to actually show up. i’m thinking his first appearance might be in petra’s fic, but i’m not sure on that point.
unposted fics:
where the lightning splits the sea:
aka roisa hp au
the first book rough draft is probably going to be my primary focus in the new year, as i stated above.
currently in chapter eleven of what i expect will be sixteen. chapter lengths vary, so it’s possible that when i go through the second write i may change chapter divisions so that they aren’t too long for ao3 postings.
i’m still super excited to be writing this one and super excited to jump into this fic so - i haven’t hit burnout, which is amazing.
mexican stud
aka rosalint fic
no change from last update
probably a primary focus in the new year as stated above
everything’s coming up roses
no change from last update
various other soulmate aus
no change from last update
epic superhero crossover
aka jtv/tick/timeless/supergirl/x-files/agent carter/person of interest crossover
possibly also to include proven innocent and deputy in a tie-in with the x-files aspect - re: how to get mulder and scully directly involved and not just have the syndicate and world-building aspects
still getting bigger
obviously i have added in person of interest as part of the crossover - primarily because i pulled in wendy mcnally - bridget’s character - from one of the episodes not because i’m pulling in main characters or themes (although there’s a possibility of that)
i have started bits and pieces of this
mexican stud, obviously
mostly dottie/lint stuff
and then a few thousand words in collateral damage, which is basically the wendylu fic that explains what happens with luisa in the three years after rose’s death
the primary fic taking place three years after rose dies but there are a lot of other interconnecting fics that cover that period and earlier, etc.
i want this to be a primary focus, but it’s...complicated
timeless/noir fusion fic
HEY I STARTED IT
IT SHOULD BE REALLY COOL
LOOK IT’S EXCITING AND I WANT TO WRITE MORE OF IT
basic premise: lucy teams up with amnesiac!assassin!emma as they delve into secret societies and etc.
emma is an assassin and has amnesia.
rittenhouse doesn’t suck.
carol doesn’t suck.
lucy is still a history professor, but at amy’s behest (YEAH AMY’S ALIVE), she went to a smaller university somewhere else instead of going into carol’s department
idk who else will show up in the fic yet - emma probably has one of the machines but i’m not sure which one yet either, so that means probably should look at rufus/jiya/mason and maybe flynn BUT not sure
noir is very female-focused with no male main characters so trying to mesh that with timeless is complicated
the focus would need to be on emma and lucy and their relationship
as a result, this will likely end up being prestmore.
sorry not sorry.
there are other projects i’ve considered - like one with nymphs kind of related to something else, and pick-up lines month like i mentioned above, AND ALSO @only-freakin-sunflowers AND I MIGHT BE BRAINSTORMING A COLLAB PROJECT - but i think that’s a good place to stop for now. ^^

Finale... basically
I made a really salty summary of the finale. Honestly I’m not that mad about it, like I’m disappointed but this was also kinda expected given how little time two hours is to wrap up a show like Timeless. So please understand this is not me attacking ships or the writers or inciting any sort of meanness. This is merely me being sarcastic and obnoxious (and hopefully a lil funny) cause I’m annoyed. If you loved the finale that’s cool, (I liked parts of it too) but maybe don’t read this
1. Future!Lucy and Wyatt come back and tell the team... absolutely nothing??? Except that only Lucy and Wyatt can read the journal and figure out how to get Rufus back. (This of course ends up not being true)
2. Lucy and Wyatt read the journal in order to get info about Lucy’s love life and give Wyatt a chance to reiterate his regrets
3. They go back to the gold rush
4. Lucy and Flynn have a brief conversation in which Flynn tells Lucy she is in love with Wyatt and she says “ok”
5. The team try to make a plan to save Rufus
6. Flynn sneaks off without telling anyone, kills Jessica in the past, sees his fam knowing they are going to die (and does nothing!) Then for some reason stays in the past to die????
7. #SaveDRufus
8. No more Zorro
9. “Flynn is dead. We are sad. He was a hero. We all secretly liked him.” Except that Wyatt practically hated him up until this moment and, oh that’s right Denise, Connor and Rufus literally have no memory of him ever being in their team (or if they do they are different memories than those of season 2)
10. “We could save him... but no, we gotta stop Rittenhouse.”
11. It’s a trap!
12. Save a baby because (a) Lucy finally learned you need to save the little guys (unless they are Flynn and Amy) and (b) Wyatt gets to be really sweet
13. Jiya and Rufus bond and move past their issues (which were what exactly?)
14. Lucy and Wyatt: “gosh, everyone else seems to have forgotten about that season two Jessica nonsense. Maybe we should to.”
15. Emma, the genius scientist and over all insanely dedicated Rittenhouse member, becomes the leader and decides: “I don’t care about Rittenhouse, I just wanna be rich and I want lots of art!” (She’s never shown any interest in either before)
16. Agent Christopher to the rescue!
17. Emma dead
18. Merry Christmas everyone!
19. Rittenhouse is... gone????
20. Let’s pick it up from the first half of Hollywood!
21. 🎶 Time keeps on slippin... into the future🎶
22. We named are kids after them!
23. Riya is happy, and a business now!
24. Let’s go start this all over again
25. In which: (a)Lucy purposefully goes to the past when Flynn is at his absolute lowest to send him on a self destructive mission (b) is totally chill when seeing her dead friend for the first time in five years (c) doesn’t give him anything of encouragement for the mission aside from “you’ll be a hero in the end” which I’m pretty sure Flynn never cared about (d) the entire team is now the reason that Flynn kills a bunch of people (which is the reason why he’s bad and “doesn’t deserve a happy ending”) (e) for some reason broken and lonely and depressed Garcia Flynn jumps at this idea like “gee! Can’t wait for all this pain which will eventually lead to two people thinking I was kinda a hero!”
26. Montage... ya know for the nostalgia
27. Look at this smart girl, off to make a time machine and destroy history!
28. Show runners: “ˢᵒᵐᵉᵒⁿᵉ... ᴬⁿʸᵒⁿᵉ...ᴾˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᵖᶦᶜᵏ ᵘˢ ᵘᵖ ᶠᵒʳ ᵃⁿᵒᵗʰᵉʳ ˢᵉᵃˢᵒⁿ!”
#timeless#lucy preston#garcia flynn#nbc timeless#timeless nbc#time team#clockblockers#wyatt logan#rufus carlin#jiya marri#denise christopher#connor mason#timeless finale#idk i didnt love it#just my opinion#dont come at me with any hate#this is all in the name of funny critique#garcy#lucy x flynn

Mads!! I was wondering if you had some thoughts on Bi!Wyatt because you write him so well and he is, uh, at least 50000% more interesting than I Am Wyatt Logan And I Am Definitely Straight!Wyatt. I JUST HAVE A LOT OF BI!WYATT FEELS
Oh. Oh you wanna know about Bi!Wyatt. Oh ho ho. This. This is gonna be fun.
AKA the Why Wyatt is Bi Meta That I Probably Should’ve Written a Year Ago But Didn’t Because I’m Lazy. BUCKLE UP BUTTERCUPS. THIS IS A FUCKING MANIFESTO.
This will be in two parts. The first will be my arguing why I think Wyatt is bi (pointing out examples that support my argument) and the second will be musing on why taking a character like Wyatt and making him bi is a more creative and interesting writing choice and gives him depth and complexity as a character.
PROLOGUE
Okay before we get started, people are probably wondering why I’m putting so much goddamn effort into writing about the possible sexuality of a character that managed to royally piss us all off for two thirds of an entire season.
Two reasons:
The first is that as I’ve mentioned countless times previously, Wyatt Logan isn’t a malicious person. He’s not a villain. He’s had genuinely good and loving moments. His toxic behavior actually makes him a wonderful example to people watching because it shows how otherwise good men can exhibit this behavior, and in my fiction I love to give him a chance to overcome that behavior and be the good and loving person that he can be and was meant to be. @brassmama once said I should start tagging all my fic “The Emotional Redemption of Wyatt Logan” and frankly, she’s right. That’s what I set out to do. Because to me, just hating on Wyatt and wanting to set him on fire is fucking boring.
also the amount of hate some of you show is concerning me are you guys okay?
Why hate when you can stretch your writing skills and give a character a thorough and well-earned redemption arc? Because shocking news, a lot of the toxic people we meet in our lives are not one-dimensional villains that we can dismiss. It’s not our job to fix them but by golly don’t you hope that they grow past that and become better people? I know I do.
Second, my anger at Wyatt isn’t actually mostly at Wyatt. It’s at the writers. It’s at the shitty boring writers who decided to just hand him his happy ending instead of taking the golden opportunity before them to give him a nice deep and complex redemption arc. It’s at the writers who decided to make him a toxic asshole in the first place instead of taking all his potential in season one and putting it to damn good use and making him a character who was interesting for all the right reasons instead of making him one who was interesting because he pissed us off. Two strikes means you’re out in this particular game, writers.
So. I didn’t come onto this goddamn blue hellsite in order to adopt Wyatt motherfucking Logan of all characters but since I am his mother now I am going to make him interesting and I am going to give him his emotional redemption and one of the best ways to do that is to make him bi so without further ado, here is a) why I think he’s bi and b) why that matters.
PART THE FIRST: LA PREUVE!!!
Before we get into this, I suggest that you quickly read my meta on why I see Wyatt Logan as submissive rather than dominant. It touches on some moments I’ll be mentioning here and helps to further round out how I see his character.
Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? With our favorite British spy, Ian Fleming, in 1x04. This is Wyatt’s reaction when he learns that it’s Fleming they’re dealing with:
“NOT NOW BONER!”
“Oookay that’s hot, he’s hot.”
“Oh oh oh he’s funny and cute aaaahhh”
“LUCY LUCY LUCY DID YOU SEE OHMYGOD DID YOU SEE WHO THAT IS AAAAHHH!!!!” *puppy eyes*
What’s important to note here isn’t just Wyatt’s reaction, but Lucy’s. Lucy is looking at Wyatt with a bit of fond exasperation–she’s saying “seriously?” Rufus has a similar reaction a moment later (although it was too quick for a screengrab, dammit). It’s like they’re annoyed, in a gentle friend way, by Wyatt’s behavior.
Note that Lucy’s geeking out and hero worship is never greeted with suspicion or fond annoyance by Rufus, Wyatt, and later on Flynn. Lucy’s hero worship and knowledge of historical characters is considered one of her strengths, because it allows her to get close to them. So why are Lucy and Rufus reacting this way when Wyatt hero worships someone?
Maybe because it’s not hero worship but, rather, a crush. Lucy and Rufus’s reactions much better fit friends dealing with their friend and the object of his affection.
We see this again in 2x2 with Wendell Scott. Scott makes what can only be described as a ‘sexy entrance’, throwing a man out of his tent and striding out while rock music plays, the camera panning up his body. *fans self* Oh hello sailor.
And the camera goes immediately to Wyatt who has THIS expression on his face right before saying breathlessly, “that’s…”
Wyatt then rushes in to defend Scott (who is just… hhnngghhh… sorry I need a moment that man is a Lot…) and shakes Scott’s hand with this look on his face:
If this isn’t the definition of heart eyes I don’t know what is.
When Scott compliments Wyatt, Wyatt blushes and looks away, pleased and embarrassed. Wyatt then spends the entire episode gooey eyed over Scott, and in a telling moment, tells Scott about his abusive father–private and intimate information that not even Lucy, Wyatt’s official love interest, knows about. It would make far more sense for Wyatt to tell Lucy about all this since she and Rufus are clearly wondering why Wyatt’s so knowledgeable about cars, and Lucy is Wyatt’s chief confessor at this point. Out of everyone, you’d think he’d be most comfortable telling Lucy about something like this.
But instead, he tells Scott about his father, clearly wanting to connect with Scott and be closer to him. This is something you see people do all the time when they have a crush on someone or are attracted to them: we tell them intimate details about our life in order to grow closer to them, intended to speed up the relationship process and stimulate them to be intimate with us in return (since we want to know everything we can about the people with whom we are infatuated).
Moreover, Wyatt’s reactions to Scott contrast Rufus’s reactions. Rufus also greatly admires Scott, and their growing connection as two black men despite their differences based on the times they live in is central to the emotional plot of the episode. But once again, Lucy and Rufus are basically telling Wyatt to “cool it.” Why Wyatt and not Rufus? Because with Wyatt, they’re not telling him just to calm down, they’re telling him to keep it in his pants.
Another thing to note about Fleming in 1x04 is that Wyatt is envious of his interactions with Lucy. Here’s his reaction when Fleming kisses Lucy’s hand:
🎶HEY JEALOUSYYYYYYY 🎶
Not the best screengrab but he’s trying his damndest not to roll his eyes.
Now, we the audience are probably supposed to make the jump in logic that Wyatt is envious of Fleming i.e. Wyatt is attracted to Lucy. But in the previous episode, 1x03, Wyatt tried to use the telegram system at the Vegas hotel to warn Jess of her death and save her life. He’s still hung up on his dead wife and wants to save her (we see this again in 1x06 when Flynn states outright from the journal that Wyatt is ‘obsessed’ with Jess and bringing her back). At this point in the series, Wyatt is still in love with his wife and wants her back. There’s no reason for him, therefore, to feel possessive of Lucy in any way.
But Fleming is Wyatt’s hero, not Lucy’s. So if Wyatt is attracted to Fleming, his envy makes sense. He’s envious of Lucy for getting all of Fleming’s flirtation and attention.
However, conversely we see that Wyatt is uncomfortable around other men who might show him interest. In 1x16 at the gay club, we see that Wyatt is extremely discomforted and stated that he “feels like a piece of meat.” Wyatt has so far been perfectly comfortable with LGBT+ people such as Denise, and then he’s comfortable with Ethan Cahill later on, so this doesn’t stem from homophobia but specifically from gay men thinking Wyatt is gay. I admit I’m drawing from personal experience here but in said personal experience, men who react with such discomfort tend to be suppressing a few things themselves–most straight men I know would laugh it off or roll their eyes.
Wyatt, however, is outright skittish. He’s acting like he’s got something to hide. Our first indication is when Lucy says, “This is 1954. You could get arrested for being gay.”
I couldn’t get a good enough shot of Wyatt’s reaction but here’s the tail end of it. Wyatt reacts to this assertion with discomfort and self-consciousness. Why would he do that? It’s not like they’re talking about him… unless Lucy’s reminder that people think being gay isn’t okay has painfully reminded Wyatt of himself. Wyatt grew up in a small town in Texas. I doubt they were all that kind to LGBT+ people there.
This is Wyatt right after a guy checks him out:
Check out his face. Wyatt’s avoiding the guy’s eyes, shifting uncomfortably, looking at the ground. Look at those puppy eyes. He’s scared–but why would he be scared? He’s not going to get jumped or anything. What could he possibly be fearing? The only thing that makes sense is he fears being outed, somehow, by another gay man who might be perceptive enough to metaphorically back him into a corner and force Wyatt to reveal something that he’s not ready to reveal.
Wyatt then tries to blow it off, “he’s looking at me like I’m a piece of meat,” but if we actually look at the onceover the gay guy gives him… it’s not actually that objectifying. The man looks down, then looks Wyatt right in the eyes and smiles at him flirtatiously. There’s no sloooooow drag up Wyatt’s frame, no wink, no outright leering. It’s quite tame compared to how most men look at women. But Wyatt’s response is that he feels like a piece of meat. His discomfort is actually disproportionate to the action that sparks his reaction.
But of course, all of these examples pale in comparison to the main one. The piece de resistance, the most compelling set of reasons yet, I give you… (drumroll, please)…
GARCIA FLYNN
Wyatt’s reactions to Flynn are… extreme. Rufus and Lucy have more reason to dislike Flynn than Wyatt does, and yet Wyatt’s the one storming all over the place and acting like just being around Flynn gives him an allergic reaction. He’s constantly going out of his way to push Flynn away and show Flynn just how much Wyatt hates him. It’s like Wyatt needs to prove to Flynn–and to everyone else–just how much Wyatt dislikes him.
Like this moment in 2x06 when Wyatt demands that Flynn “keep them safe”:
Note that Flynn winks at him:
was this wink scripted Goran Goran hey hey was this wink scripted or did you do it in the moment because Certified Mess™ Flynn can’t resist flirting with Wyatt to knock him off his game Goran inquiring minds need to know GORAN I HAVE QUESTIONS
And Wyatt is caught off-guard by the wink and then has to turn around and collect himself, taking a deep steadying breath:
Or take this moment when Flynn walks into the bunker in 2x03…
…where Wyatt literally stands up and storms out of the room upon Flynn’s entrance, saying to keep Flynn on a leash. Wyatt can’t even handle being in the same room with Flynn, while Lucy and Rufus (y’know, the guy Flynn got shot in 1x15) manage to stay in the room and have much smaller reactions to Flynn.
Note: Flynn definitely checks out Wyatt’s ass as he leaves I’m just saying–
Wyatt might as well be waving a giant red flag going HEY! HEY! I HATE THIS GUY! IN CASE ANY OF YOU THOUGHT I MIGHT LIKE THIS GUY OR EVEN RESPECT HIM THE TINIEST BIT!
We get even more of this in 2x07 when Wyatt gets extremely aggressive and tells Flynn to stay away from Lucy:
…and they were roommates.
(Oh my God they were roommates.)
…I mean do I even need to talk about the homoerotic subtext in these screenshots?
Wyatt, however, has more reason than anyone besides Lucy to connect with Flynn. Not only because they mirror each other, but because Wyatt gets to see a vulnerable and personal side of Flynn that nobody else does. Flynn doesn’t tell Lucy about his family’s murder–he tells Wyatt. Lucy doesn’t see Flynn risk his own existence to save his brother’s life, Wyatt does. Why does Wyatt get to see these moments if not to set the two men up as a parallel, a mirror for one another, and frankly why does he keep insisting Flynn’s an asshole when Wyatt is privy to moments like these:
Quote: “He just saved your son’s life.”
Quote: “Every memory I have of you, you were always sad. I know what it is to lose a child. I didn’t want you to lose your son, not if I could stop it.”
Moments where we clearly see Wyatt realizing Flynn’s not such a bad guy and understanding that Flynn is complex and has layers and weaknesses and powerful, understandable motivation. Why would we a) get to see Wyatt with Flynn in these moments of vulnerability and intimacy but then b) see Wyatt go out of his way to continually push Flynn away more than anyone else?
This has no bearing on the whole bi thing but frankly, this is one of Wyatt’s best looks. 10/10 suit. Pretty pretty puppy.
There’s only one reason: he’s scared of Flynn getting too close to him. And why would he be scared of that? Same reason he’s scared of the gay men in the bar hitting on him: Flynn might see a secret that Wyatt isn’t ready to look at.
1x08 is Flynn at his third lowest point (second lowest being his suicide mission in 1x16 and lowest of all being the end of 1x10/beginning of 1x11 when he kidnaps Lucy). He is ready to erase his own existence to save his brother and make his mother happy. It would make the most sense for Flynn to be seen like this by Lucy, who is the only character who’s made any attempt to understand him or connect with him and is the one he’s making the most effort to reach out to, the one he says he’ll “make a great team” with someday. Not to mention that given the disappearance of Amy from existence, Lucy’s the one most poised to understand what Flynn’s doing: saving a sibling. And Lucy’s the one (prior to 1x16) with a good relationship with her mom, just like Flynn, and would feasibly understand wanting to do anything to make one’s mother smile. Wyatt’s mother is never even mentioned in canon.
But it’s not Lucy who sees him like this and gets this intimate glimpse into Flynn’s past and home life. It’s Wyatt. Wyatt gets to see that–and usually in fiction writing, the character who gets to see that is the romantic interest or the character who at least has some sort of romantic feeling for the person.
Hmmmmmmm.
But before the Space Race, there was an even more prolonged and intimate moment between the two men–the first real interaction they have and one that, for me, cemented Wyatt as a closeted bisexual.
I’ve left this one for last, since it’s our biggest piece of evidence: The Watergate Tape.
AKA Wyatt Logan Has a Brain Glitch, AKA Wyatt Logan Has a Bi Crisis and Discovers a New Kink, AKA In Which Wyatt Logan Realizes He is Kinkier and Gayer Than He Originally Planned
thank you to @extasiswings for the second title
Aaanyway.
So. In this episode, Flynn captures the Time Team and sends Rufus and Lucy to get information for him while he holds Wyatt hostage.
I think I’ve seen this porno.
Flynn then spends his time with Wyatt telling him about Lucy’s journal and how Lucy writes about Jessica Logan’s death–in fact this is how the audience finally finds out how Jess died–and that Wyatt is ‘obsessed’ with Jess’s death and needs to learn to move on. In return to earn Wyatt’s trust, Flynn tells Wyatt how Flynn’s wife and child were murdered by Rittenhouse (again, this is how the audience also learns the story).
It’s a startlingly intimate moment between the two men. Like with Scott, we’d expect to hear the story of Jess’s death through Wyatt talking to Lucy, the person to whom he is closest and the person who at this point he is starting to show sexual attraction towards (I personally think Wyatt started to really be attracted to Lucy in 1x05 after she steadies him at the Alamo during his PTSD attack but anyhow). But instead, we hear it in a painful and intimate exchange between these two.
Pay attention to how Wyatt gets super uncomfortable when Flynn gets close to him, how he looks up at Flynn through his lashes, how very submissive Wyatt is being with his body language.
“Raise my chin even more to look Flynn directly in the eye? Nah. Gonna do a half-head tilt so I’m giving him a sultry side-eye.”
Wyatt also throughout their exchange (before Flynn pushes Wyatt’s buttons and makes him angry) routinely gives Flynn these looks:
Hmm, where have we seen Wyatt have that facial expression? At Fleming, for one, and at Lucy, for another. It’s a flirtatious expression.
There’s no reason for this screencap I just think it’s preeeetty. Mmm. Bask in the pretty.
Actually this screencap does a good job of illustrating the use of this scene to parallel the two men’s lives and storylines and show how they mirror each other.
Also? Look at how Wyatt’s positioned.
He’s not just in a hugely submissive position, he’s in a sexually suggestive position. He’s tied to a chair, and Flynn is looming over him, both of which are submissive. And look at how his legs are spread. His feet aren’t tied, by the way–Wyatt is doing that subconsciously, which puts, ah, certain aspects on display and in another situation it might be manspreading but given the positioning of the rest of his body and the situation he’s in, I sure as hell wouldn’t be manspreading. Manspreading suggests confidence and relaxation. His life is in danger and when we’re in danger whether we like it or not we instinctively go to protect our ‘vulnerable bits’ including, especially for men, our junk. By spreading his legs like this, Wyatt isn’t asserting his relaxation or confidence, he’s displaying himself.
His legs are spread, he’s tied up, he’s looking up at Flynn through his lashes, and he’s wearing a shirt that’s stretching across his chest, drawing attention to it. Now, in day to day reality, we sometimes wear shirts that do this and it doesn’t mean anything. But this is fiction and that means a costumer put that actor in a shirt that they knew would stretch across his chest in that way and therefore make him look even more sexually suggestive and exposed, and they chose to undo his top buttons and expose more of his throat, making him look more vulnerable and suggestive through that as well.
If Wyatt was, say, hanging from his wrists, that would be submissive, but not sexually suggestive. This, however, is both. The way the two sit together, the way Flynn tries to get on his level, the soft lighting, the way the two are wearing a pastel version of each other’s colors (Flynn’s signature color is burgundy and Wyatt is wearing pink, Wyatt’s signature color is blue and Flynn is wearing pastel blue)… if Wyatt was a woman there’d be no doubt that we’re seeing a prelude to a romantic connection here.
Throughout the whole confrontation with Flynn, up until the point where Wyatt’s angry over Flynn bringing up Jess’s death, Wyatt is in a suggestive, submissive position, he’s giving Flynn flirtatious looks, he’s uncomfortable in a not now boner way when Flynn gets too close the same way he was with Fleming. The whole time Wyatt is acting like he’s uncomfortably aroused.
Wyatt then takes great pains to shove away any connection with Flynn. There’s no real attempt to reason with Flynn, or acknowledge their similarities. Instead he denies any connection between them and calls Flynn a sociopath. Why? Because you can’t let any man to whom you’re attracted too close or he might figure out those dark feelings you’re trying to deny and/or hide. Wyatt is practically allergic to Flynn’s overtures or even to Flynn’s presence, as we already covered in 2x03, 2x06, and so on. But he keeps being given reason to think Flynn isn’t such a bad guy (1x06, 1x08). His shoving Flynn away like this only makes sense if Wyatt is scared of what will happen if Flynn gets too close to him, physically or emotionally. And it all starts here with 1x06.
It was this conversation that led me to go hmmmm and then re-examine 1x04 and take a closer look at Wyatt’s behavior in subsequent episodes.
So, to recap:
Wyatt shows in 1x04 that he is capable of being attracted to a man given his behavior around Fleming and Lucy and Rufus’s reaction to Wyatt’s behavior (”ugh get a room buddy,” etc). This is seen yet again in 2x02. In 1x06, Wyatt has a long conversation with Flynn where it is in a vulnerable position emotionally and physically and is furthermore in a sexually suggestive and submissive position in relation to Flynn. In 1x08 he gets an intimate look into Flynn’s psyche and childhood and family. In 1x16, we see Wyatt is uncomfortable in a LGBT+ setting suggesting he is not comfortable with his own sexuality and is scared of being found out. For all of season two, he then goes out of his way to show Flynn and everyone else how much he absolutely hates Flynn, despite having the least reason to do so, since his only reason is vying for Lucy’s affection and Flynn doesn’t become a true threat to that until 2x06. But in 2x03, 2x06, and 2x07, we see Wyatt making sure Flynn knows he’s not wanted.
Conclusion: Wyatt is bi. Wyatt is uncomfortable with being bi and has not accepted that about himself or perhaps even admitted it to himself. Wyatt is attracted to Flynn, as seen in 1x06, and has tentative romantic feelings for him developed in 1x06 and 1x08 based on seeing Flynn in vulnerable moments and learning intimate details about Flynn’s life. Wyatt then pushes Flynn away in order to push his own bisexuality away and avoid confronting it.
Wyatt being attracted to Flynn is the only logical conclusion for Wyatt’s behavior towards Flynn pre-2x06, given that Lucy and Rufus have more reason to dislike Flynn than Wyatt does, and that Flynn is not a true contender for Lucy’s romantic affection until 2x06 (he is, but Wyatt has ZERO reason to know this until 2x06 when Wyatt sees Flynn and Lucy smiling and joking together and walking down the hallway together, presumably towards one of their bedrooms for a private conversation, and Lucy tells Wyatt how great Flynn was on the mission). Wyatt has no reason other than being attracted to Flynn.
Wyatt being bi is the only logical conclusion for his behavior towards Fleming and Scott, given that Lucy and Rufus also have characters they hero worship and are not treated by the other two the way that Wyatt is when he ‘hero worships’ Scott and Fleming. Compare and contrast Wyatt’s behavior towards Scott with Rufus’s behavior towards Scott.
Wyatt being bi is the only logical conclusion for his behavior at the gay club, given that he is otherwise shown to be comfortable with LGBT+ people and seems not only uncomfortable but genuinely afraid, which as a Delta force-trained man who can more than protect himself physically, he has no reason to be–unless he’s hiding his sexuality and is scared of exposure.
The proof is in the pudding. Wyatt is bi. At least, according to my headcanon he is.
We can’t say for sure what the writers intended for Wyatt’s sexuality, and I’m not saying with any of this that they were secretly writing him as bi the whole time. I’m certain that some of them definitely didn’t write him that way *cough* Arika *cough* but either way I would never presume to know about the secret or hidden agendas of the creative team. This isn’t me saying “the writers were going to reveal Wyatt as bi in season three!” or “they secretly wrote Wyatt to be a closeted bisexual!”
Rather, this is me showing you through screenshots and a breakdown of Wyatt’s behavior in the episodes that it is perfectly possible and even logical to conclude that he is bi, and that I can use the actual source text (in this case the episodes) to back up my assertion.
This got annoyingly long so you can read the rest here!

If I can’t have you (Timeless Lyatt Fic)
Summary:
He just wants to console her, maybe ask her if there's anything they could do, he could do. But she just wants him to move on with his life. So that's what he'll do.
Notes:
Hey hey hey!
So I have another one! I'm also thinking maybe I should just make a series of filler scenes or future ones since i've been super inspired lately (I guess I just can't seem to let go or it's part of my grieving process who knows) also cause Sara Bareilles just dropped a new album so more inspirations (but you don't care about that)!
P.S this is a short one.
All the mistakes; timeline, facts, grammar, and typo are all mine. Also wish I own the rights for the show cause then will have 20 seasons not just 2.
Here it goes...
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/18367379
“Ooh, if I can't have you
Then I'll have to find a way to get through
Though I don't want to
I have to do my best to recall
That I'm thankful that I held you at all”
”If I Can’t Have You” -- Sara Bareilles
“Same place as always. Kicking ass and saving the world”
That’s what she wanted. For things to go back to normal. But what is normal?
That’s not what he expects at all when he decided to go look for her.
When they got back from 1919 New York, Jessica is there waiting with everyone else, she launched herself on his direction to give him a kissed. He is aware of how it look like for the others, to Lucy, but he kissed her back anyway. He pulled Jessica to the direction of their bedroom with the echo of Lucy’s voice demanding to know who Agent Christopher has voted for last election behind him. He shook his head, smiled, and looked back before he and Jessica turn the corner.
Showered and changed into regular clothes the feeling of guilt is now stronger, of what he honestly don’t know the list is long nowadays. One things he’s pretty certain is he wants to find Lucy, talk to her at least. He’s not surprise to find her near a laptop with an article open, her back facing him. The article showed the success of suffragette, but the sadness in her voice when she talked about Alice Paul the fact that she’s not even on footnote or how she’s the only one who’s going to remember her has put him on auto-pilot. He reached out but she immediately stepped away before he could tighten his grasp around her. He’s mad about all of these, the situation they’re in but most importantly of Flynn. But then she starts talking about getting Jessica back and he can’t argue with that.
He was the first one to walk away. Because he have to, her mind is already set, she’s made her decision now he could only wish that he’ll come up with a decision as well. Sooner if possible. Hoping. He is still hoping she’ll call his name and ask him to return while he walk away but there is just silence behind him. He wanted to look back, go back, ask her again if maybe there’s something they could do. But she’s right, she’s always right, Jessica’s return is a miracle and after all the people they’ve lost through time travel, a miracle is something you cling on to, something you pray against all odds that will still be there when you return. Plus didn’t he spent most of his time before trying to figure out how to get Jessica back, he even stole that damn time machine to do just that. He is not the religious type but God knows he needed his help right now to sort his feelings and will power to put an end to his needs to be besides Lucy all the time. To reach out, to just feel her skin in his hands.
He is back in front of the door of their bedroom before he even realize it. Funny how not too long ago he use to share this room with Rufus, now it’s his and Jessica’s room. In a way he wonder if bringing Jessica here is even the right thing to do, It did feel like it is when he was still convincing her not to file for divorce but now he’s not so sure. Not only did it cause tension to everyone, mostly for him and Lucy, but now he also feels like he’s being unfair. Everyone has to leave their family behind, in some cases lose their family entirely, and there’s him; living in the bunker with his use-to-be-dead-wife.
Now Rufus and Lucy are force to alternately use the couch in the common area. Also why did Lucy have to sleep in that terrorist’s room anyway? He’s not going to lie, he spent the majority of his day trying to figure out how to get Flynn out of here, so when Lucy told him nothing happened between the two of them, the relief he felt was life altering. He didn’t even know he was holding in a breath and that his shoulders are tense ever since he saw her walked out of Flynn’s room that morning. She said they just talked and I guess now that the other thing is out of the picture, the fact that Lucy went to him to talk hurt more.
He use to be the person she confides to, someone who she shared her past with, her feelings. Maybe the old Wyatt would have hated it but the new Wyatt, Lucy’s Wyatt like it, he likes it a lot that he looks forward to it. Every down time they have in between time travelling and after, he will sometimes go straight after her to ask her how she feel. He figured maybe that’s how he starts developing feeling, he feels connected that he got to know her better with her own feelings, opinions, and stories of her past.
He stare at the bedroom door, wondered how long have he been standing in front of it. Contemplated for a second if he should go in, then looked back to the always too cold hallway that leads to Lucy. He could still feel her presence, her grief over the hero now lost in history, the pain he felt when she walked away from his embrace. He shouldn’t have reached out anyway, but it was a natural instinct, it was a knee jerk reaction. To console her when she’s feeling down, to make her feel better, to make sure that whatever happens she doesn’t feel sad anymore because she’s been through enough. Because there is something rewarding to be the one to make her smile.
1940’s Hollywood feels like a distant memory now, well technically it really is, it was a less complicated time amidst the chaos. The choice was easier then, it’s Lucy no doubt. Some could argue that maybe choosing Lucy that night might have the domino effect of having Jessica alive right now. But if given a chance would he have done something different? Maybe wait until they’re back here in the present until he kissed her? Maybe. But if he is being completely honest he wouldn’t have change a thing, cause no matter what the outcome maybe, he was glad that he has Lucy wrapped in his arm that night. He’ll just store that memory, that particular sensation in his arms in his brain together with the ones he already labeled ‘never forget’. At least he have that right?

Timeless 2x11 Reaction: “The Miracle of Christmas Part 1 and 2″
And thus Timeless is officially over. How did the writers fair with the series finale aka The Timeless movie? Pretty freakin’ fantastic.
Let’s dig in...
It’s been several months between Timeless’ Season 2 finale and their series finale tonight, so the writers wisely include a “Previously on Timeless.” We flashback to all their adventures while Unhappy Future Lucy (who looks a little scary if I’m being honest) narrates. It helps because I seriously forgot her mother is dead. (They kill Susanna Thompson on every damn show!)
The beginning is a little jarring because storylines I expected to happen in a season or two are all happening RIGHT NOW. My brain needs time to downshift, but I eventually adjust.
First things first - dealing with the third point in the love triangle, Garcia Flynn. Timeless isn’t interested in drawing out the shipper war because Wyatt and Lucy are kind of a mess. They require some screen time so they are fixed in a realistic manner.
Scary Future Lucy gives Present Day Lucy and Wyatt her diary. Spoiler alert: Lucy hooks up with Flynn. Spoiler alert: They break up sometime down the road because she is really in love with Wyatt. They play out Lucy and Flynn’s entire relationship in under 3 minutes. I’m not joking when I say they breeze through three to four seasons worth of triangle.
I love Goran Visnjic, and while I adore Lucy and Wyatt, I was never opposed to Lucy and Flynn. I mean yeah he’s a murderer. That’s a real negative, but it’s friggin Goran Visnic. Have you seen this guy? He’s so hot. Where Dr. Luca goes so goes my nation.
Kidding aside, the writers convey the depth of Lucy and Flynn’s relationship with just a few lines, which is an impressive writing achievement. I love how Flynn is all “I can’t believe you date me because I tried to kill you a bunch of times.” HAHAHA. Classic. And true! Ah the joy of television romance. But it ain’t gonna be you Flynn, so mosey along big fella.
Jessica is not pregnant. UGH. I HATED THIS STORYLINE SO MUCH.
I appreciate the writers giving it a fast and hard death, but this is one of the ways I think Season 2 went wrong. Timeless is a show that defied the typical television tropes and that’s what made it so interesting in Season 1. However, I think their Season 2 renewal, and desire to snare more viewers, created a “throw everything, but the kitchen sink” mentality.
They used every romance trope they could think of in Season 2 to see what would stick. It was just... not good. I don’t blame Timeless anymore than I do any other show that does this (and it’s pretty much all of them). It was just disappointing to see the show move in this direction, when previously they’d been so good at avoiding those kinds of storylines.
Flynn sacrifices himself by going back to 2012 to kill Jessica, so Rufus never dies. REDEMPTION ARC BITCHES!!! YESSSS!!
Seriously, he is so bad ass. Flynn puts a couple bullets in Jessica (plus one extra to be sure) after a ninja knockdown fight. He knows the effects of traveling to his own timeline will kill him... or something. Whatever. It doesn’t matter. Then he watches 2012 Flynn with his beautiful and living family through a window before he dies.
Flynn leaves a goodbye letter for Lucy that pretty much says he loves her, but he knows she loves Wyatt and he wants her to be happy. So yes, GARCIA FLYNN sacrifices himself for Rufus, ensures Lucy and Wyatt find the happy ending they deserve even though he is in love with Lucy, helps stop Rittenhouse and save the world. I AM SO EMO ABOUT MY BOY RIGHT NOW!
As for Lucy and Wyatt, they tiptoe around each other for most of the two hours. Wyatt thinks she ends up with Flynn and Lucy doesn’t want to be second choice. They are the only two who remember the Jessica history. Dear God, can we all forget too? Everyone is pretty much, “Why aren’t y’all together because y’all were together before and it was perfection?” So meta.
Wyatt almost dies in an explosion while delivering a baby during the fall of North Korea. Yes, you read that correctly. WYATT LOGAN IS HERE TO SAVE NATIONS AND DELIVER BABIES!
Lucy realizes she almost lost Wyatt and they are wasting time worrying about the past.
This part of the finale feels really predictable to me. There’s no way they are killing off Wyatt, especially after Flynn dies. Lyatt is endgame, so the two characters dancing around it for so long feels like prolonging the inevitable.
“After that explosion I thought you were dead. And for a moment I saw my whole life without you and my world ended Wyatt.”
But damn though, what a speech Lucy gives him.
Honestly, it is slightly annoying she did most of the talking because Wyatt is the one who screwed up. At least he offers up a “I wanted to pick you Lucy, but I felt I owed Jessica because she was my baby mama” explanation. Of course, we all knew this.
Lucy accepts Wyatt’s “I am a big pine tree” explanation because facts. Things really get cooking with some Lyatt mistletoe kissing.

Ah, a time honored holiday trope I will never grow tired of. Then they have sex
BUT CUT AWAY TOO SOON! Boo NBC!
Rufus is alive, but doesn’t remember being dead. Jiya remembers Rufus being dead, but he doesn’t remember Jiya living in Chinatown for three years in the 1800s. I think.
Jiya is concerned she’s no longer the woman Rufus fell in love with (re: see three years of trauma). I argue Rufus fell in love with a bad ass and Jiya is still most certainly one. It is frustrating how quickly they had to go through her physical and emotional trauma from Chinatown. Ugh, this is some seriously important drama that could have been a multiple season deep dive. Stupid cancellation.
Rufus and Jiya realize they are still perfect for each other, because they are perfect for each other. They start a company together and become billionaires saving the world. Jiya’s hair color is extremely pretty in the final scenes too. I feel this is very important detail to include. I heart them.

Lucy and Wyatt discuss how they don’t want to become scary Lucy and Wyatt from the future and THEY DON’T BECAUSE OF FLYNN. They get married, Wyatt works for Agent Christopher on special projects, and Lucy is a tenured history professor who focuses on important historical women. BECAUSE THERE AIN’T NO TIME FOR THE MEN! That’s right fellas. Drink your tea and wait your turn.
Unfortunately, Lucy is not able to get her sister Amy back. She gives an poignant speech about grief and loss, which could be the show’s mission statement. This is how you write a series finale:
"Everybody loses someone they love. And no matter how badly they want to they can't get them back. In spite of that they find a way to go on. That's everyone's history."
What connects all of time is our humanity. We are born. We live. We love. We suffer grief, pain and loss. We find joy. We endure. This is the thread century after century. In the end, we aren’t so different after all.
THEN LUCY AND WYATT GET MARRIED
Source: @splitscreen
AND HAVE TWIN GIRLS NAMED FLYNN AND AMY.
Source: @splitscreen
ALERT!!!!!!!!!! MULTIPLES CONCEIVED! IT IS THE DREAM! EVERYTHING IS AMAZING!!!!
The final scene is 2023 Lucy, Wyatt and Rufus traveling to 2014 to tell Garcia Flynn about the time machine. Lucy tells Flynn he doesn’t lose his humanity even though he never gets his family back. He is the hero the team and the world needs in the end. It connects the beginning and end of Timeless so seamlessly. This was probably always going to be the bookend. I just wish we had a few more seasons in between it.
They hint at a future time machine being invented by a young girl Rufus took an interest in at the science fair. The morality of the time machine is debated between Agent Christopher and Connor. She wants to destroy it, but Connor argues they need to keep it so they can stop others from abusing its power. You can’t un-invent something. Someone sooner or later will create the same technology Connor and Rufus did. They have a responsibility to make sure time travel is not abused and another Rittenhouse does not rise. So, the time machine is kept, covered, guarded and waiting.
Do I think we’ll see a resurrected Timeless about this girl and her time machine? No. I don’t. This is the last stop on the Timeless train and, while it was a wonderful ride, it is over. Actors are released from contracts. Writers, producers, crew, etc have all moved on to other gigs. It’s a freaking miracle they even made the movie. (Apropos episode title).
Timeless approached the series finale the correct way, which is what’s important to me. They didn’t leave a bunch of loose ends. The world was saved and I saw all our beloved characters living their happy lives in peace. I need to know these characters are going to be okay, so I can say goodbye.
Thank you Timeless for the insightful way you approached history, your cast of wonderful characters, humor and unflinching honesty. I look forward to the streaming deal so I can rewatch again and again.

Stray Thoughts
The finale is one EPIC Lucy speech after another. My girl runs this show.
Nobody was dressed appropriately for a North Korea winter.
It looked like the mother threw her newborn into Wyatt’s arms as her son came running to her. LOL Nice catch, soldier.
"I've loved you since the Alamo." Girl is that ever right.
Don't mock. Saint Christopher is for REAL. He has helped me out of many jams.
Hahaha. Wyatt said m'am. That's how you know it's the end.

I absolutely love your fics- they're an incredible source of humour, fun, and relaxation during exams. And in light of your amazing magical realist hades/persephone AU- any thoughts on Lucy Preston as a modern day witch?
Hmm. Yes. Definitely.
Lucy is a witch, the Preston women have always been witches, and she and Carol and Amy are all part of a local coven. She has grown up with it and struggled with Carol’s expectations to be part of this great line of witches (for 2x04 reasons, we’ll say they had an ancestor at Salem, who was accused but not executed because she used her magic to save herself). Lucy has wanted a normal life and to worry about ordinary things and to be more than just Carol’s rules for her, and they have fought about that. Amy encourages her to separate herself and do her own thing, and Amy’s magic is more casual and spontaneous and never quite good enough for Carol.
Lucy goes to college and discovers that her magic is particularly strong with history – she can read old languages without much effort, she can sometimes see what’s happening when she touches old manuscripts, she can access the memories of dead people and see into the past and sometimes accidentally (being a little clumsy) stumbles out of a classroom and into the 1800s somewhere. This is valuable magic for obvious reasons, and she starts receiving visits from pleasant guys in suits and ties who want to know more about her gift. Lucy sends them packing, but she is a little on guard after that.
Anyway, one day, there is some kind of major chrono-magical incident of a serious and unexplained nature, and Lucy is one of the people drafted in to deal with it, along with scientist and skeptic Rufus, who doesn’t really believe in magic (he and Lucy have a lot of arguments over whether it’s just a special kind of science and so on) and Wyatt, who is just a U.S. Army guy from Texas who likewise thinks they’re probably fixing this problem with guns and not spells. Their first mission goes wrong and erases Amy, a la canon, and Lucy’s efforts to get her back keep causing more distortion and unexplained side effects.
She then, also a la canon, meets the guy responsible for the original fluctuation and various other trashy dramatic incidents: Garcia Flynn. His motives are also similar to canon in losing his wife and daughter to Rittenhouse (who are a coven of evil witches and corporate sorcerer-saboteurs, and Carol is secretly part of them). Flynn has been crashing through basically every secret magical library and underground community there is and teaching himself magic to fight them, which he has a formidable natural talent for, but (this being no shock at all) often causes major collateral damage with. He and Lucy meet a few times and he is clearly interested in her. She tries to get him to cool his jets and promises she will teach him the right kind of magic, which he slowly comes around to, then there’s some incident with Denise (head of the coven that’s running the effort to apprehend him, a very strict and by-the-book witch a la McGonagall) and he’s thrown into some magical jail and yes, like the end of s1.
Anyway, there are then hijinks after that, and Emma Whitmore is a very scary and very powerful Wicked Witch of the West type, and Lucy uses far too much black magic trying to defeat her after she kills Rufus (like 2x10). Flynn then has to be her voice of conscience/reason, because obviously he has learned every kind of magic there is and finds that black magic is often more brutal and effective. Lucy is tempted to keep using it and he has to walk her back from the dark side. There are some kind of subplots with other magical creatures (demons, vampires, werewolves, faeries, Nephilim) and a bar called Underhill, and a lot of Rufus being like Really???? when magic shit backfires (but he also met a really cute nerdy witch named Jiya, who can often see the future and knows the plots of Star Wars films before they’re released, and he’s coming around on it). Lucy is impressed to discover Flynn has the same talent as she does with history magic, and they travel in different places/times and have to do battle with Rittenhouse’s demon hordes. There is a gondola chase in 1472 Venice, and visits to the Library of Alexandria in its heyday when they have to smuggle out magical texts that no longer exist, and so much paperwork trying to figure out how to keep these from contaminating regular magical knowledge.
They then fall in love, of course, and it turns out that the first time they kiss, Lucy’s magic practically goes haywire, she keeps discovering different things she never knew how to do. Flynn has an annoyingly attractive talent for picking up old magical grimoires and reading them at a glance, and sometimes sasses you in Old Sumerian, which is really just a pain in the ass of him. But not, on balance, altogether surprising.

The Lincoln Quandary
What if Lincoln was never meant to die? What if he lived, but through time travel shenanigans he ended up dying during one of the timelines? But the Time Team wasn’t able to save him in the next timeline, or the one after. Then, eventually, everyone’s memories get overwritten. Now we all believe that the fixed point in history is Lincoln has to die…
If we’re dealing with a closed loop, then this question is asked and answered. It happened that way and it will always happen that way.
But Timeless is a Causal Loop and therefore literally anything goes. The whole point of this kind of loop is to go back and make changes and try to make things better (or worse, it’s a matter of perspective). The only issue is that once you close the loop, you will have the memories of the previous timeline.
This is the end of the loop… so what about the beginning and the middle?
We can reasonably infer that since pre-pilot Lucy goes back and gives Flynn the journal, what we see in the series is not Timeline Zero (i.e. the first timeline before the first person goes back in time, ever). We also know that Anthony and Emma tested the Lifeboat and Mothership and went back on several occasions. Timeline Zero would be the timeline Anthony first tested the Lifeboat as Rufus mentioned in Stranded.
Now, since Lucy goes back and starts her Causal Loop in 2014, any trips Anthony and/or Emma made after this point become a part of Lucy’s Causal Loop. And each time Lucy restarted her Loop, Anthony would create even more new timelines. This is because each time he and Emma went back, they changed something, it may be insignificant, but it’s still a change and it counts as a new timeline.
Below is an illustration of how this happens. It does assume that Lucy goes back with the journal first, instead of Flynn stealing the Mothership first, but the idea is still the same regardless.
You can, technically, create a loop inside of a loop, and that may or may not be the case here. We don’t know enough of all of Anthony and Emma’s missions to know for sure. If Emma actually went to 1872 after Lucy arrived in 2014, then it could be its own Causal Loop inside of Lucy’s Causal Loop.
The important part to remember is that yes, a lot of this is Rinse and Repeat, but it doesn’t have to be. There can be loops where trips were skipped, where extra trips were added, or where North Korea isn’t the end of the loop. The fluctuation in trips can be due to all sorts of factors such as Emma’s “rescue” and Jessica’s involvement... and having crappy writers who don’t understand their own show.
All that matters is that Lucy goes back to 2014 to restart the Causal Loop. When that happens, all the events that occur afterwards get to ‘reoccur’ which means more changes to the timeline.
This is how the Lincoln Quandary happens. With all these resets and changes and new timelines, all it takes is for the last person who remembers how it was ‘supposed’ to happen to be in their current timeline when a significant change to the timeline occurs, and there you go. Lincoln “always died.”
We can also apply this to the characters, such as Jessica. We know it wasn’t always Flynn who killed her because that is impossible since it’s a Causal Loop (not a Closed Loop). Though it is possible that in one of the loops he was involved somehow. In the “Miracle Loop,” as I’m calling it, he is actually responsible for Jess’ death. But, more likely, Rittenhouse had something to do with Jess’ original death.
Imagine this: The team was giving Rittenhouse hell, so they go back and give the order to murder Jess. Maybe they want to hold that over Wyatt, or perhaps they think it will make him self destruct before he joins the team. For an unknown number of timelines (from none to hundreds), Wyatt knows that Jess was never supposed to die, that it was RH’s fault. Then enough resets occur where Wyatt is in his own current time and therefore forgets this. So now he thinks she always died, and Rittenhouse knows they killed Jess on orders, but no one is quite sure why until 2016.
Then Emma figures it out, that in a past timeline they tried “Plan A” which didn’t work. So what if they recruit Jess instead? They make sure she doesn’t die in 2012 so she can be a sleeper in 2018. Granted, since Miracle of Christmas went off the rails and was completely illogical, we can’t really apply much of what we saw to actual reality. But you can cherry pick which parts you want to keep and as long as they work together under the timeline rules, then run with it.
I’ve heard the theory that Wyatt originally killed Jess. The evidence being that strangling is an intimate act, plus Rittenhouse actively asked her to get out of the car to save her when we’ve been told that’s why she died in the first place. So maybe Wyatt did kill her, then eventually forgot that he had done it because of all the resets.
You can pretty much allow for any theory to have occurred in some iteration of the timeline. The only obstacle is that you have to get there following the time travel rules. This sounds daunting, but it’s actually very freeing and full of options. We literally have no idea how many times Lucy has gone back and restarted the loop.
Mason mentions that in 2014 there was a powersurge that wiped out a lot of data. He was lying about Emma’s pilot logs, but was he lying just about those? This is significant because 2014 is also the same year Lucy goes back to give Flynn the journal. Is this a coincidence? Did it happen before, during, or after Lucy’s trip? Is Lucy responsible? And if so, what was on those records? What information could have been lost to remind people what the real facts are?
Every ‘fact’ as we know it is in question. Hell, we don’t even know if Lucy started the loop in the first place.
What if it was Amy? She sees what her Mother and Lucy (who could be a bad guy in this timeline) are doing. She writes the original journal. She knows she can’t do this alone and finds Flynn, a man with the skills and the motive. So she goes back to 2014, gives him the journal. Flynn doesn’t hit the Hindenburg in this timeline or the next few. Reset after Reset occurs until now it’s Lucy, being supported by Amy, who starts to write the journal instead and making the loop.
Or, Flynn stole the Mothership first, wrote the first journal and gave it to himself? Or recruited someone to deliver it for him, someone he trusted, like Stiv or Karl? Maybe it was Lorena? Maybe she lived and a timeline change happened when she was in the past where Flynn was the one to live? Enough resets and she doesn’t make it through and now it’s believed she always died.
Yes, someone can take over the loop. All that is required is that the time machine goes back to the same point to do generally the same thing.
If you want to keep going back far enough (or forward enough), assume millions of new timelines, then nothing is off limits.
You could literally have a Time Team made up of anyone you want it to. From supporting characters like BamBam and Noah, to evil characters who may have once been good (Emma perhaps?), to original characters who are either doomed or blessed depending on how their own story changes in the timeline resets.
Your college Garcyatt fic is technically canon.
Now… to make matters even more confusing: What if someone from the future, say 2056, created a new Causal Loop that either encompasses or overlaps Lucy’s Casual Loop?
I’m gonna need a bigger graph…

I’ll Show You the Way: Chapter 5
Summary: Wyatt’s phone demanding his attention is the last thing he wants right now. Lucy has his attention - she always has his attention. She’s saying something about them having nowhere to go but down. And all Wyatt wants to do is groan, and tell her not to jinx them before they’ve even begun. But if the words he’s currently reading on his phone are any indication, jinx them is exactly what Lucy has just done… / Canon divergent from 2x03, Hollywoodland.
FFnet / AO3
I apologise for the delay. I have no excuse.
I have a plan for the rest of this fic. I've laid out 7 chapters, with an epilogue that will possibly be split into 2 chapters - making 8, maybe 9 chapters in total. I can't promise they'll be written and posted any time soon. I write when I feel like it, when I'm inspired, and when I have the time too. Unfortunately, those things rarely happen all at once.
In the mean time, enjoy this chapter, and don't forget to go and retweet the Timeless writer's tweet to release the final deleted scene!
It’s been a few hours since the boys got back from 1934. A few hours since she’d told Wyatt she was pregnant. He’d left the room without a word, and she hasn’t seen or heard from him since. She isn’t worried about him - not physically at least, but emotionally… that’s another story. The shift in the timeline means this isn’t the Wyatt she knows. This isn’t the Wyatt that picked her up, and spun her around until they were both feeling rather sea sick, when she’d told him about her suspicions. She has no idea where this Wyatt is with his Lucy, but if his reaction is anything to go by she isn’t too hopeful for their future.
Rufus barges into the room, snapping her out of her thoughts. “He’s awake.”
Right, Kennedy. She’d almost forgotten about him. She stands and follows Rufus down the corridor to the only room in the bunker with a door that locks. She can hear the future - past? - president shouting at the rest of her team. He’s accusing them of kidnapping him, and demanding to speak to his parents. “If money is what you want, call my parents and they’ll give you every penny they have. Just let me go!”
“John, you need to calm down.” She says as she enters the room.
He turns to her, his eyes wide and wild. “Calm down!? You people kidnapped me, and you want me to calm down?”
“They didn’t kidna-” She pauses. “Okay, yeah. They kidnapped you, but only to save your life. The red-head that was after you? She would have killed you otherwise.”
“And how do I know you people won’t kill me?” He has a point.
Wyatt steps forward and shrugs at him - Lucy hadn’t registered that he was even in the room, but of course he’d be here. “You don’t, but just give us a few hours and let our… friend… deal with the guys trying to kill you, and I promise you, we’ll take you home.”
She see’s Wyatt struggle over the word ‘friend’ when he talks about Flynn. Okay, so they hadn’t gone to the Titanic. Flynn hadn’t saved Wyatt’s life. They didn’t air out their differences. They weren’t friends. That’s a change in the timeline she can handle. She just wishes it was the only one.
Lucy doesn’t say a word to anyone as she leaves the room and heads to the kitchen. She’s not sure anyone even noticed her leave, but she needs to keep herself busy to keep her mind from wandering, and making Kennedy some food seems like the best way to do that right now. She may not be the best cook in the bunker, but she can handle making a sandwich.
She grabs some bread from the cupboard; and the mustard, some salad, and the sliced meat from the fridge. It’s not to everyone’s tastes.
Making a sandwich doesn’t keep her busy for as long as she would have liked. She’s done in a matter of minutes, before she’s sliding it onto a plate and carrying it down the corridor to deliver to the young president.
When she reaches his room, she finds it empty. “Guys? Guys!”
Turns out if you kidnap a guy and lock him in a room, but promise to return him in a few hours, he’s going to try and escape anyway. Everyone comes running when Lucy calls out to them, skidding into the room to find her holding a sandwich and starring at an open vent in the wall. A quick glance around the room tells them why. John F. Kennedy has escaped from their secret underground bunker and is currently running around 2018 on his own.
“Remember when I said this was a disaster and you all told me to calm down?” Lucy turns to them accusingly. This is why they shouldn’t travel without her.
“So he’s running around a different time period - you guys do it all the time - whats the worst that could happen?” Jess shrugs.
Lucy shakes her head and storms off. If she has to go out there and find him herself, she will. No one else seems to be too concerned about the missing president.
Rufus and Jiya send each other awkward looks, as Wyatt sighs and runs after her. “Luce, where are you going?”
When he catches up to Lucy, she’s struggling with the huge metal door that leads to their freedom. “Lucy, come on. You can’t go out there alone.”
Lucy ignores him as she continues to struggle with the door. She’s getting no where. Does she even know Agent Christopher keeps it locked?
“Lucy, stop!”
She turns around, her eyes wide and frantic. “What, Wyatt!?”
“We need to be smart about this.” He steps forward and brings his hands to her cheeks, forcing her to look at him. “Go get dressed. I’ll talk to Agent Christopher about getting us a car and getting out there to look for him, okay?”
She takes a moment and to take him in. He’s not sure what she’s looking for, but moments later she must have found it, because she’s nodding her head and leaning into him. Wyatt drops a kiss to her forehead and wraps his arms around her shoulders, pulling her into his embrace.
They’re stood there for a minute or two before he feels her begin to shake in his arms. She’s crying. He pulls back and brings his hands back up to her face, wiping her tears away. “What’s wrong?”
Lucy pulls away from him, and shakes her head. “No, nothing.”
He goes to protest - it’s clearly not nothing - but she’s broken away from him and is running back down the corridor towards her bunk, before he can even open his mouth to begin to talk. He sighs deeply, running a hand down his face. Maybe giving her some space would be a good idea - not that he’s had too many of those recently.
No one had quite known what to say when Jess had offered to accompany them to find the young president. But with a historian, two engineers, and a former billionaire on their team, it’s not like they could say no. He’d certainly tried to, but of course he should have known that she wouldn’t take no for an answer. When she’d fired back, “Well, she’s just a teacher, right?”, they really had no choice.
So here he was, his wife sat beside him in the passenger seat, and the woman he loves sat behind him in the back, while they drive around the Oakland area looking for a young Kennedy. Not exactly how he imagined he’d ever spend a day.
They’ve always had a cover when they’ve done this. More often than not, they’ve either been engaged or married. But that’s always been in the past, where being a married woman would get Lucy into more places. He forgets for a moment that they’re still in the present, and she doesn’t need to be married to do anything. She can do anything she wants, without having to have him there with her. So when she tells him “You’re my friend. We can be friends, can’t we?” He’s more offended than he thought he would be - probably more than he has any right to be.
He’s not quite sure what Jess is trying to do when they reach the hospital - she starts reminiscing about their time in Hawaii, and the last time they were in a hospital together. A glance at Lucy tells him this trip down memory lane hurts her more than she’d ever admit to. He tries to put a stop to it, hurting Lucy is the last thing he ever wants to do, but Jess doesn’t seem to be having any of it. So he sends Lucy a look that he hopes conveys how sorry he is that this is happening. She returns his small smile and nods slightly. It’s okay. You guys have a past. We can’t avoid that.
His world stops spinning when they find Emma in the hospital. The red-head grabs Lucy and brings a knife up to press against her throat. Wyatt draws his gun, but he doesn’t click the safety off. He doesn’t have a clean shot and there is no way he’s risking the shot. Not with Lucy and his baby between him and his target.
“Ah, ah.” Emma nods her head to the weapon clutched tightly in his hands. “Gun down, or your girlfriend here gets more than a little paper cut.”
Emma presses the knife tighter to Lucy’s throat, as Wyatt hesitates in lowering his gun. The blade nicks her skin, drawing blood. His eyes follow the drops down the smooth skin of her throat, and he watches as they soak into the neck of her t-shirt.
“Though maybe her life doesn’t matter to you, now that you have your wife back.”
Right, Jessica. He’d almost forgotten she was here. He can only imagine what she’s thinking right now. She knows him as a soldier. One who does what he needs to do, no matter who gets hurt. A reckless hot-head, as Lucy once put it. A bull in a china shop, Jess had called him on more than one occasion. Yet here he was, with a shot he’d made a million times before, and he can’t do it. He can’t take that risk.
Once upon a time he wouldn’t have hesitated in taking this shot - once upon a time he didn’t hesitate in taking this shot. He’s just that good. But that was before he really knew Lucy, before they fell into bed, and before she fell pregnant with his child. Before he fell in love with her.
“Please.” He begs. Wyatt takes his finger off the trigger, and holds his hands up to Emma in surrender. “Please, don’t hurt them.”
Shit. Shit, shit, shit. He should not have said that. The things Emma - Rittenhouse could do to him, and Lucy, and their child... He stops breathing - though he’s not sure he actually begun again after Emma first took Lucy hostage - as he watches the realisation build in Emma’s eyes.
“Them?” Her eyebrows all but disappear into her hairline. “Oh, Princess. What is your mother going to say?”
Wyatt catches Lucy’s eye and does everything he can to convey how sorry he is that he let their secret slip. He’s not sure she understands or not, as she nods her head at him once. Before any of them know what’s happening, Lucy is bringing her foot up, and slamming the heel of her boot back down on Emma’s foot as hard as she can.
Emma shows no reaction to any kind of pain, as she shoves Lucy at Wyatt and makes her escape. He should go after Emma. This could be their chance to end Rittenhouse - or at least cut off one of their heads - but he can’t bring himself to do it. Not when Lucy is at his feet, her head bowed, and a hand clutching at the cut on her neck.
Wyatt drops to his knees in front of her, running his hands up her arms, around her shoulders, and pulling her into his embrace. He presses a kiss to the crown of her head. “It’s okay. She’s gone. I've got you.”
Lucy pulls back and searches his eyes. He’s just as torn up as she expected him to be. More so, even. She drops forward and rests her forehead against his, closing her eyes and revelling in his presence. “You should go after her.”
“No.” He tightens his hold on her. “I’m not leaving you here like this.”
“I’m okay.” She smiles softly. She didn’t think she’d get this level of care and affection from him again, not after Jessica’s return. There’s no guarantee it’ll last though, he’s not officially told her what he plans to do. For all she knows, he’s chosen to honour the vows he made to Jess when they married, and this is just a moment of weakness. She tucks that thought to the back of her mind, the pain in her neck from Emma’s little gift is all she can handle right now. “Jess is here, she’ll loo-”
When Lucy lifts her head to look at the other woman - who they both assume is stood at the other side of the room, where Lucy had pushed her when they’d found Wyatt and Emma - she finds her gone. “Wyatt, Jess is gone.”
His head snaps up at her words. “She’s what!?”
Ignoring the pain throbbing in her throat and the blood still trickling down her neck, Lucy stands and begins to make her way out of the room. “Where is she? Did she run off after Emma? Did Emma take her?”
Wyatt catches up to her before she can get too far. He grips her shoulders and pulls her to him, slipping one arm down to her waist in an attempt to keep her still. “Calm down. Let’s get you checked in and your neck looked at first. You’re beginning to loose too much blood.” She’s always had a pale complexion, but her current colouring is enough to start concerning him.
“But what if Emma has her? You already lost her once.”
He never thought he’d see the day where someone else was more worried about Jess going missing than he is. Though he also never thought he’d love someone other than her. “She’ll be okay, she can look after herself.”
Jess finds them just as the doctor is finishing bandaging Lucy’s neck. She’s breathing heavy, and her cheeks are flushed. Emma clearly didn’t go easy on her.
“I’ve been looking for you guys everywhere.” Jess pants. “She got away. I’m sorry.”
Wyatt shakes his head, denying her apology. “Don’t be. You shouldn’t have gone after her alone in the first place.”
Jess shakes her head and huffs out a short laugh. “You’re forgetting that I’ve kicked your ass on more than one occasion. I can handle myself.”
“Wyatt’s right. Rittenhouse are dangerous, unpredictable, you could have been hurt.” Lucy knows more than anyone just what they’re capable of, though Jess doesn’t seem to be listening to a word they’re saying.
“Look, I’m fine. Not a scratch on me.” She holds out her bare arms for them to inspect, like that will convince them to drop it. It won’t. “Can we just get out of here?”
Wyatt grabs the meds the doctor had left for Lucy, before he helps her up off the bed. “Yeah, Rufus called, said they’d done a scan across social media and found pictures of him at a high school party.”
“My first high school party.” Lucy mutters, as she follows Wyatt out of the hospital. “Better late than never, I suppose.”
Wyatt stops in his tracks at her words and turns to her in disbelief. “Your first? Ever?”
“How does that surprise you?” Lucy shrugs, unashamed. “I told you what I was like back in school.”
“You were the nerd that lived in the library, and didn’t go to prom because you had a spelling-bee the same night, weren’t you?” Jess asks.
Lucy had almost forgotten she was there - again - she really has to stop doing that. “Speech and debate tournament, but yeah.”
The party is a blur for Wyatt, much like the ones he’d attended when he was in high school himself; though for very different reasons. Back then he’d simply had too much whiskey. Now he just wishes that was the case. He could have lost Lucy back in that hospital. Emma came too close to ending his world, and to say that thought has shaken him and consumed him would be an understatement. He’s sure Lucy and Jess have been talking to him since, and he’s sure he’s responded to them, but he couldn’t tell you what was said or who said it. Well, the debrief is going to be fun…
“I see not much has changed since we were in high school.” Jess remarks as a student empties the contents of her stomach.
Wyatt only nods, absently, not quite sure what she just said. Neither Jess nor Lucy said anything, so he must have had the right reaction to whatever she said.
They’re getting some funny looks as they walk through the yard, they clearly don’t belong here. It’s only when they’re nearing the house, that one of the students shouts out “Hey! Somebody’s mom is here!”
Jess bites out a “Bite me!” in response, while Lucy brings one of her hands out from her pocket to point her thumb at the other woman. She stops suddenly when she realises that Jess isn’t the mother here. She is.
One thing Wyatt does remember is Lucy’s excitement over her cell phone. He doesn’t really know why it excites her, but the look on her face is enough to wipe away any lingering fear. If only for a moment. It all returns once he walks away and enters the house in search of Kennedy. Why’d I leave her out there with Jess? Idiot.
It’s easier than he thought it would be to get the future president to return with them - ignoring the part where he runs off, and Wyatt gets into a shoot out with Emma in a room full of drunk high school students, of course.
Once they’re back in the bunker, Lucy makes a break for the bathroom first. She claims to need a shower, telling them she “feels icky after spending 3 days in bed sweating out a 17th century infection, and then running around in search of Kennedy all day.” They all buy it, never questioning her when she spends over an hour locked away in the bathroom.
Lucy tightens the belt on her robe, as she makes her way down the corridor towards her bunk. The door creaks loudly when she pushes it open, but not loud enough to drown out the sound of Wyatt telling Jess he loves her. They must be in his and Rufus’s room across the hall - it’s as private as they’re going to get, when the only truly private room in this hell hole is occupied. His words cut right through her. The way he’d been with her at the hospital today gave her hope for them and their future. She’d had a moment of weakness, when she thought he’d just been caught up in the moment, and would go back to Jess as soon as everything went back to normal. But she’d pushed that thought to the back of her mind, and locked it away in her ‘thoughts I shouldn’t have but I worry too much’ box. It seems her brief worries were more valid than she first thought.
She enters the room, but doesn’t bother locking herself away like she planned. She can’t sit here and listen to Wyatt profess his love for another woman. Hopefully Jiya will be up for bingeing some truly awful for them, yet delicious reality show.
Kennedy has been back in 1934 - where he belongs - for a few hours now. Wyatt’s been looking for Lucy for just as long. It’s not a huge bunker, so he doesn’t know how he hasn’t found her yet. He’s making his way down the corridor with their bunk rooms once again, when he hears voices drifting out of the girl’s room. He’d know one of those voices anywhere. He has every intention of going in there and asking to speak to Lucy in private, when her next words give him pause.
“He loves her, Jiya, more than anything. He’s chosen her. Or he’s going to.”
The sorrow in her voice and the thought of her tearing up with this thought running through her mind breaks his heart. Wyatt doesn’t know what put that idea in her head, nothing he’s done since returning to the present and finding himself in this situation should have given her that impression. Certainly not the events at the hospital earlier.
“What am I going to do? I can’t do this alone.”
He doesn’t need to be in the room with her to know, that she’s rubbing a hand over her swelling stomach as she gives a voice to those words. That by ‘doing this alone’, she means raising their child alone.
He doesn’t intend to hear any more of their conversation - he doesn’t really want to - but the longer he stands here, the more he’s going to hear. She thinks he loves Jessica, more than he loves her. She thinks he’s chosen Jessica over her. She thinks he’s going to make her raise their child alone. He doesn’t know what he did to give her that impression, but the thought sickens him. Unable to hear another word, he makes a break for the bathroom at the end of the hall, throwing himself at the toilet and emptying the meagre contents of his stomach. I have to fix this. I have to.

Advance Review of 3x12 and 13: HeLa and São Paulo
IT’S HERE. The finale is upon us, and we are all attempting to prepare our souls. @katechaucer provides one last advance look at what’s coming...
It’s been a wild ride, one we hope you all have enjoyed, and it’s hard to believe that we have reached the last two episodes of the thrilling third season of Timeless. The finale picks up right where we unexpectedly left off at the end of 3x11: in the dark future where Rittenhouse has all but won. We’ll see just how difficult life is for the Futures, find out who made it that far, and who did not. Rufus demonstrates why saving him was so essential to the Time Team’s mission, as he finds a genius way to get the team back to their own present. However, when the Mothership jumps to Baltimore, Maryland, in January 1951, Rufus has no choice but to head straight for the past with his compatriots.
It takes a chance encounter, but the team finally learns that Henrietta Lacks, source of the famous “immortal” HeLa cell line, is Emma’s target in 1951. With Flynn and Rufus protecting her, Lucy and Wyatt head to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where Wyatt is tasked with finding the doctor who prepares the HeLa sample. He realizes that whatever medication saved Rufus back in Chinatown most likely came from HeLa cells, so it is critical that the team preserves the cells to keep their second-chance Rufus. Meanwhile, Lucy seeks out Emma, who has been off stealing information from the Lifeboat that will affect the entire war. After the team’s epic showdown with her inside and outside the hospital, nothing will ever be the same for any of them. In the midst of all this excitement, Mike Temple and Jessica are navigating their tenuous roles within Rittenhouse. What Temple asks of Jessica in order to save Rittenhouse is astounding, but will it be necessary once the events of Baltimore spill into the present?
The first half of the finale is intensely emotional and personal, focusing on the fact that while the present team has each another, the future team does not, and even those who survived seem to be alone. Lucy finally gets to ask her future self some burning questions about the original timeline, the journal, her car accident in college, and of course, her ultimate fate. Flynn also at last gets to talk to the Lucy who gave him the journal, trying to understand the reason for everything he has been through. Wyatt has an astounding realization and later has to come to terms with certain aspects of himself. And Rufus shows how far his relationship with Flynn has come when he has to keep a promise that destroys him emotionally. Fate is realized in Baltimore, but what the team decides to do about it remains to be seen…
And this brings us to the very last episode of Timeless Season 3, which goes no further into the past than 2014 São Paulo, Brazil. Emma learns the time and place of the journal handoff from Lucy to Flynn, and sets out to win the war for good by preventing the team from ever coming together in the first place. The lengths to which she will go to achieve her goals are stunning. But the Time Team has a love for one another that lends itself to a “no man left behind” mentality, and we can’t say more because we can’t give any of it away. You will cheer, you will laugh, and you absolutely will cry. Nothing will go down the way you expect it. Life and death have whole new meanings in this last episode of Timeless Season 3. You simply won’t want to miss it.

I watched the Timeless season 2 finale aka final two episodes/movie to finish it off which a lot of shows never get, I am glad they gave this show a proper ending like that! I loved this show and the fans got it a second season and this ending so that’s great! <3
In the first part they went and saved Rufus like they wanted to. To do that Wyatt had to go back to the night his wife Jessica died and kill her all over again and remove her yet again from the timeline.
Flynn went to see his family again from a distance which was sweet. But he died from traveling back to his own timeline.
Rufus then comes and saved the rest of the gang from prison, not knowing he was ever dead in the first place. Not that he would as the timeline changed again lol. He also killed the sleeper agent like it wasn’t nothing lol.
The next part seemed a little almost unnecessary. Most of it was about them saving that woman and getting her to the boat on time and to her family which was nice and all but nothing to do with the grand scheme of things and would have been better had it been shown over here in December for Christmas like it was in America, not sure why they only showed it in May, maybe they weren’t allowed to show it before.
Lucy could have had her sister saved by Emma but instead Emma got dead.
Just like that Rittenhouse was taken down. It was kinda too easy in the end.
Lucy forgets about Amy and goes out with Wyatt and Jiya and Rufus resume their relationship and everything is normal and happy again and they are no longer going to go back in time, they are gonna live the timeline alone and the past in the past.
They decided so no one else could use it against them to destroy the mothership which was the logical thing to do. But they kept the lifeboat in case anyone does use time travel again. Wyatt is still gonna work with Denise.
Then they go to the future in 5 years time to 2023 where Lucy is just a normal history teacher again. She has Flynn and Amy as kids with Wyatt because you knew they’d call them that. Since they both died.
Rufus and Jiya now have their own company and go to schools to talk about it and how she’s the boss.
They had to do one final trip to start up the entire adventure and go to 2014 and see Flynn at the bar and give him the journal so start off his mission against Rittenhouse.
Then at night they showed some random girl working on the schematics for a time machine so maybe there will be more seasons and their adventures are yet to end. Maybe they’ll revive the show in 10 years time lol. Although it was cancelled after both seasons so I can’t see it but they left it open in case they ever wanted to do more with it. But really it isn’t needed as they finished it off properly and tied up all the loose ends with a neat little bow so it’s fine. I’m happy with this ending. At least it got one and didn’t just end on a cliffhanger like so many others.
I will miss it though as I really did enjoy this show and all the characters. It was such a fun show and the cast were wonderful! <3
