Summer reading

Honestly fuck summer reading, instead of getting high school kids to read and enjoy books it breeds the "I don't like reading or books" people because they give us shit books then force us to write papers or create a portfolio on a crappy book that taught me nothing. Also it takes away from me reading books that I love. Instead of rereading my favorite series over the summer like I planned I'm forcing myself to read this crappy book.... also I'm crying over the Mortal Instruments series right now because I wanted to reread them this summer but instead I'm reading Balzac and the little Chinese Seamstress.

My opinion on Shadowhunters

Am I the only one who doesn’t like Shadowhunters?? Ive seen the show after reading the books and tbh it’s terrible. I don’t see how anyone who’s read the books can like the show. I mean, not just the show but the fandom. I’ve seen people who bash the mortal instruments but praise Shadowhunters because it’s better…. That in itself is a giant problem. These are supposed to be kids. They’re not some amazing superheroes without normal flaws. For example, in the books Izzy is slut shamed because that’s something that happens to teenage girls. Shes actually insecure because of her height and figure because that’s something that happens to teenage girls. Making her confident and comfortable with herself in the show is just changing who she is. She a teenager. Teenager don't​ have the best morals. Teenagers don’t make the best decisions. My sister is fifteen and has been called a slut. She’s made shit decisions. But she’s also my best friend and a amazing person.

Also, people hate how Bitchy Alec is in the books. They hate how he’s not just ok with everything that happens. Sorry but HES A OLDER BROTHER! he’s not supposed to be ok with it!! He has younger siblings that he works hard to protect. If some tiny redhead came in and started putting your younger siblings in danger while they blindly follow her, you’d be pretty damn upset too! And he is jealous of her. He sees it through a brothers point of view. And just because he thought he was in love with Jace, that doesn’t mean hes less of a good person. I’ve thought I was in love with my best friend. I’m not. Realizing you’re gay is really hard. You Can Get Confused The shoe uses Alec and Magnus’ relationship for views. They over-do the gay. They make it some fairy tale gay romance to attract views. Just… No Alec is insecure because his boyfriend used to get around a lot. He’s scared that if he dies then his boyfriend will just forget him after a while. Wouldn’t you? He’s Human He can be insecure. He may not of handled it the best way possible but he’s human. Theyre human. They make mistakes. You shouldn’t bash them for that and praise a show for doing that
