This girl... she was tough.... I was 22 when I premiered Theme and Variations and was hoping to have a 3rd try at 39. A little over a week ago in my first rehearsal back I hurt my achilles in T&V. I couldn’t walk for a few days after, and was sure I did some major damage knowing the history of my tendon. Pulling out of the ballet was the only way to ensure I wouldn’t do further harm, and hopefully have a fast recovery. I haven’t wanted to post because, well, I was angry. Then profoundly sad. I was also WAY too emotional to have a clear head about what to actually say... I reflected quite a bit for days. Could I have pushed through the pain? Would it be worth it? Should I have even been attempting to do it? Could I have done something differently? It was endless. After a massive migraine I realized all my questions weren’t worth asking, and letting go was my only way to help heal rapidly. The good news is I was already doing the jump shuttle at PT today! I can walk normal now and haven’t had pain. I already feel back on track 😊 Life can be shit sometimes but it can also be f*ing amazing. I hold onto some incredible memories from T&V and this picture makes my heart smile. Biber, possibly one of the greatest violin composers of the Baroque era. Harmonia Artificiosa displays the full range of the Baroque violin during his time. Master of scordatura technqiue (tuning the violin strings to different pitches in order to play more ambitious works), Biber produced music of astounding technical virtuosity and liveliness for the violin, as well as choral sacred works. Well worth the listen!
