Another Knight Lite song! It's for Atlas and Alonso (Arthur and Merlin, respectively). They're our old man ace yaoi couple and they make me SO tender.

Atlas is 60, divorced, judge turned city councilman who has known that he's Arthur for decades now (since like I think the 70's?) and for a long time was just fumbling around trying to do best by this fact until he meets Imogen (Nimue) and Siobhan (Morgause) and from there they somehow make a facebook group that connects them to Alonso, who is still in Europe at this time.

Alonso, 53, history and medieval lit & languages scholar, who has always known he's Merlin, had attempted to gather other knights when he was in Europe. Because of the curse of this reincarnation cycle, though, there is a limit of knights able to exist at one time, and a timeline to obtain that limit, and he ends up losing Tristan and Bedevere in a way that plagues him deeply (so when he meets Liam later, he's not quite sure how he wants to handle this boy Galahad).

Eventually Alonso comes out to LA to join Atlas, to take his position as Merlin to his Arthur, and when you're stuck in reincarnation loops but you are both yourself (original flavor) and this new person (yourself, in this timeline) you have all these memories of who you had been and who you and this other person you are so connected with had always been, and sometimes that makes it so easy to fall in love with this someone, because it always has been them, hasn't it? Even when it wasn't, it always is!

I have seen Tetris, yes! Just a few weeks ago, sometime in March, matter of fact, so your timing is particularly incredible. It first haunted me in music form, believe it or not, I kept getting songs from its soundtrack recommend on Spotify.

While I usually really don't like the KGB is in your walls stuff that the Western films always insist on showing, I'll make an exception for this movie because it's pretty fun. I actually liked the Evil Liar KGB had going on, I thought it was very funny. I do have one complaint about the whole thing, though. I wish the pixel animation was utilised throughout the whole movie, not just in That One Scene... :( Just small, little bits (ha) would have been fine...

Fun (not really) fact: I was first introduced to the character of Robert Maxwell through this movie (you have to forgive me for not giving many fucks about the aristocrats of Britain). I have then immediately learnt that his daughter is Ghislaine Maxwell. The Ghislaine Maxwell. Jeffrey Epstein's partner (in crime). How delightful...

What music do I like... That's a terrible question to ask me because I'm very passionate about music... I have playlists for everything I like, even Chernobyl related one... there's not a free minute in my day that I'm not listening to something. I associate music with everything.

I mean, judging solely by the fact that my wardrobe consists of one too many Sabaton and Rammstein shirts, I'd have to say I'm particularly fond of metal. And punk. And rock. I occasionally listen to Hollywood Undead because I discovered it when I was a... young teen, much too young to be listening to that kind of stuff lmao, and so I feel oddly nostalgic about them.

I really like the... weird and experimental stuff? If it has some kind of a connection with nature, I will probably like it. I've been a long time fan of Cosmo Sheldrake - and he just released a brand new album Eye To The Ear on the 12th of April AND a new single just a few days ago... it's everything I could have expected and more, truly. His brother, Merlin (whimsical names is the theme) is a biologist and he wrote a book about fungi, which I really like, but haven't finished because I didn't have the time nor brain capacity to take in all that new information.

And continuing with the theme of slighly weird, I also enjoy video games/movies OSTs. The creepier the better. Little Nightmares (I&II) soundtrack? Perfection. I talk a lot of shit about HBO's Chernobyl but that show's OST is phenomenal (and that's the last nice thing I have to say about it 🙄). From not horror-esque soundtracks: stuff from DOOM.

I've also been mesmerised by the Polish folk music used throughout The Peasants and have been regularly listening to the whole soundtrack. I need to rewatch that movie ASAP... more on movie tracks, I also really like Mad Max: Fury Road's and Moon (2009)'s OSTs.

I also like older, classic bands... Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, Bronski Beat, Depeche Mode... Kult, if we're talking local... And because I AM beating the toxic masculinity allegations: MARINA, Paris Paloma, Caro Emerald and sometimes even Lana Del Rey and Mitski. Other than that, I'm rarely attached to one particular artist or band, I usually like two or three songs and hate the rest haha

for books, here are my most recent reads that i really enjoyed:

south and west by joan didion, drive your plow over the bones of the dead by olga tokarczuk, mexican gothic by silvia moreno-garcia, the priory of the orange tree by samantha shannon, the bluest eye by toni morisson and time is a mother by ocean vuong. literally none of these give off the same vibe and check the trigger warnings for all of these (i read everything so i never check them but i probably should lmao).

for tv shows,

i like horror or drama shows. i love hannibal. i live and breathe hannibal, i have a hannibal themed tattoo, so yes, watch hannibal. i also love the terror, succession, years and years, and a bunch of obscure bbc shows that i won't get into here because there are too many. for more happy stuff, i like merlin! and i like dirk gently's holistic detective agency! i have a love/hate relationship with the magicians but i don't think i would actually recommend it to anyone. i also watch a lot of dimension 20 and i have a soft spot for a crown of candy but i would recommend all of them.

for movies, im just going to recommend my four letterboxd favorites because that's easier than making a list of all the movies i've ever loved, so:

Followers are free to ask for more info on any of them, like which characters feature, snippets, extra details, etc. Remember how I said I'm trying to take it easy on myself and not drown myself in WIPs since I'm getting back into actually being productive ahahahahaha yeaaaah *drowns self in WIPs* SO, not a complete list of WIPs, but some things I'm currently focusing on the most. I think I’ve mentioned like most of them anyway lol, BUT HERE WE ARE: 1. The Memory of You (FFXV) -- honestly, this is probably my favouritest fic of mine, which is dumb I know since you'd think I'd have finished it then lol. For those who don't know, Noct and Ardyn are physically de-aged into children (around 7 and 10 years old) by a daemon and are trapped on their own in Cleigne. They have to work together to travel across the country to Hammerhead, where Noct's friends are, but, of course, there are a few hiccups along the way. Enemies-to-friends, Ardyn!redemption, an adventure fic with some cute things, some angsty things and some scary things. MUCH FRIENDSHIP. It now has a playlist on spotify which just makes me feel things instead of write things lmao. I love this fic okay shhhhhhhhh. 2. [title redacted] (FFXV) -- a hurt!Noct body horror fic. After a daemon hunt goes wrong, and after having a strange sudden fever, Noctis begins to descend into “madness”. Nightmares, paranoia, hallucinations, the lot. His friends are majorly concerned about his mental state, but Noctis is convinced there's something more to it. If this fic had a soundtrack it’d be like all synthwave and shit, and yes of course that’s an important detail lmaooo 3. nemo (FFXV) -- daemonised-imperial-weapon!Noct. Pre-game, canon divergence and all that. Noctis has been transformed and brainwashed into killing for the empire, he's seen as a feral beast and a mindless killing machine, Ardyn is a little too obsessed with him, and there's a secret plot to rescue and bring Noctis back home. 4. Conceal (working title) (FFXV) -- a simple one-shot of bros taking care of Noctis, who has been poisoned and has a fever, basically because I wanted more warm and concerned Gladio lmao. Basically just a caretaking fic. 5. What the Shadows Hide (working title) (Merlin) -- an assassin is loose in Camelot and Arthur has been cursed to lose each of his senses one by one. Featuring a lot of angst on Arthur's part as he struggles to cope with becoming far too physically vulnerable for his liking, and awesome-servant!Merlin who tries his best to help. 6. untitled Merlin/Mordred (Merlin) -- listen Merthur is my otp, and this fic is just in the planning/daydreaming stages, but I am SO EMOTIONALLY INVESTED in this fic idea for some reason and I just need to acknowledge that it exists okay, basically S5 AU where Merlin decides to give Mordred a chance, tells Mordred about his fated role in Arthur's death, and then it's a long journey of becoming friends and then more, which Merlin struggles with because it feels like a betrayal to Arthur and Mordred is like STFU you’re dumb and we're both loyal to him. Anyway basically: good!Mordred, enemies-to friends-to lovers, secret relationship, two sneaky adorable sorcerers trying their best to protect their king and each other ANYWAY I think I'll stop there lol because we'll be here forever. I have a ton of Merlin ideas written down but I’m not actively working on them yet, there are a couple of new FFXV ideas that I've kept off this list because the subjects are heavy, and my Supernatural ideas are currently all variations of Sam recovering from Hell trauma (except the big Silent Hill inspired fic which consists of powerful psychic Sam AND hell trauma). That didn't phase them any, that was tomorrow them's problem. So far Ginny had sent Harry a nude tease, Hermione had blocked Ron to get a reaction out of him, and Luna had given herself a cartilage piercing, (Y/n) obviously encouraging all of them. The laughter from their reaction to Harry's freak out had started to die down as they all looked at each other.

hi!!! first of all, thank you so much for reading wonders of ohio! i cannot emphasize enough how flattering it is as a writer to hear that you still have questions after reading! so tysm for sending these in :) here are your answers:

1. y/n does get her memories back, but it’s after she develops feelings for him again. draco plans to use the power of merlin’s box to return them himself, but on one of their dates y/n starts getting flashbacks and restores her memories herself :)

2. yess i was actually originally planning to make y/n a witch when i first added the merlin’s box lore! but the more i thought about it, the more i realized that it would stunt draco’s character growth. my interest in writing this story was to explore how he would grow from being afraid of muggles to falling in love with one, and her becoming a witch defeated the purpose because i wanted him to love her as she was. and once it became clear to me that she remain a muggle for at least the time spanned in the series, there weren’t that many options available for them directly after her hs graduation. draco could move to chicago to stay with her, but then he misses his father’s trial and would probably end up leaving the magical community entirely. y/n could’ve come with him back home to wiltshire, witch or muggle, but then she’d have to give up her dreams to study at uchicago, and i know that she’d be literally furious w me for writing her that way lol. sorry for the longgg response—this is definitely something i thought about for a long time

I remember managing only 500 words a day back when I was at uni, even if I had the whole dady to just write, so it's nice to see some progress! I'm a lot slower these days because my brain is slow and I'm having to handwrite (and later type with the screen down lmao which is then riddled with typos) so right now a good day is like 6 days of my notebook (so roughly 600 words)

Yes!! I have writing playlists depending on the mood of the scene I'm writing. They're mostly made of film/tv scores and other instrumental pieces. I've recently been listening to the Ophelia film title track on repeat

Hmm.. just anything particularly angsty tbh. I like the part in chp 3 of scorch marks and embers when Arthur tries to fix things with Merlin because it mirrors the end of chp 1 (and all in Merlin’s space instead of Arthur’s!!) I just get really excited writing anything painful lmaooooo

OK OK OKOK !!!!!! I can’t get this planned robin hood au out of my head! I’m desperately trying to finish SMAE so I can get on with this!!!! Loosely: Uther is even Worse, Morgana is rightfully angry and a little evil, Arthur is kinda caught in the middle. Gwen & Merlin are banished or leave and thus begins the vigilante work ;) I still haven’t decided on how I want Gwen’s story to go or Morgana’s, or Arthur’s tbh, but I am very excited to get my teeth into it!! my friend says I need to stop making arthur suffer but i think it is very funny and good for character building lmao. also just love to see feral merlin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i can’t wait to actually write about a living, not-dead lancelot!!!!!!!

you probably weren’t expecting me to extract this piece from your fic, but i really wanna rave about it for a sec, if i may? you simply thought of everything, bobi. in the first paragraph, i’m given loads of context that helps me understand why y/n is so bloody exhausted and your thoughtful choice of words simply reinforces that exhaustion. i don’t think i need to say it again (i’ll probably say it a million more times) but the imagery packs a haaaard punch! and you also framed the mood of y/n very eloquently without flat-out saying “she’s exhausted” if that makes sense?? i dunno i just think this is a really dope set of words, and i could unpack it for hours!!

My first attempt at blending, and that first gif in particular came out much better than anything I expected going into it. That quote is one of my absolute faves and it was a lot of fun to experiment with a different type of editing, even though my hatred of the always uncooperating davinci resolve was at an all time high during the long ass time I spent making it 😂 (Thank you to anyone who said it was pretty in the tags, I was on cloud nine for days ❤️❤️)

Here I was somewhat experimenting with colors and b&w. I’m actually pretty proud of how it came out, all things considered, and the song fit so well I couldn't help myself.

My other attempt at blending, though I gave up on that half way through 😂 Still, I’ve always loved the song and it’s been on my merthur playlist since the moment I made it. I had to mention the first gif set I ever made. I wasn’t even using davinci yet nor 1080p episode files so it’s pretty much a disaster lol but it got me into gif making so it holds a special place in my heart. I am so baffled as to how it ever got 1k+ notes, but I guess it’s that source material 😩👌 we’re all just simps for forearms here and I love it 👀 I had so much fun staring at those forearm clips while making this, and to the surprise of probably absolutely no one, I already giffed the kitchen scene again and I have another 2 times at least already planned out 😂

2019 was really the year in which I wrote much, much more than any of the previous years. Which wasn’t hard, considering I wrote maybe one fic total in the last three years or so. Still! I wrote for 3 fandoms: phan, Star Trek, and Good Omens, though all my favourites are from the first two (sorry GO peeps). 

I talk a lot in the word war chat about how much I hate my work after I’m done writing, but there are actually a couple of things I’m kinda proud of (also some works that I have started hating with a passion lmao - let’s not talk about those). 

So, in no particular order: 

The Trials of Apollo playlist I’m actually gonna start off with my only non-fic thing, which is a playlist I made for the book series The Trials of Apollo. I love this playlist, and I listen to it all. the. time. to a point where I think the whole list ended up in my top 100 of 2019 on Spotify lmao. You can listen to it in order, I did put the first and last song in those places specifically, but to be honest? I usually just put it on shuffle. 

Cross-pollination (phan & Star Trek, 7k) A fic of many firsts! My first phan fic of the year, the first time I joined a challenge (the @musephan2009 phan fest), the first time I worked with a beta (thank you @insectbah !!!!). I think it was around this time I really started joining the chats, and boy have they helped me a lot with writing! 

Something so magic about you (phan, 10k) At the time, the longest fic I’d ever done. This one I wrote for the @phandomficfests bingo and it’s very, very heavily inspired by BBC’s Merlin. I still really like this one, and I’m so proud of the amount of work @obsessivelymoody and I put into this! 

ready to call this love (Star Trek: Voyager, 2.6k) My underdog baby :(  This little fic doesn’t get nearly the attention I wish it would, but I guess that makes sense considering how Voyager isn’t one of the more popular Star Trek franchises, unfortunately. I wrote this in a single evening after the idea got stuck in my head and refused to leave, and I’m still upset this is not, in fact, canon. Honestly, Voyager creators, you know I’m right and this was the only proper solution, you’re all just cowards. 

~~mystery fic~~ (phan, 6k) I’ll have to update this list once the authors for the phandom fic fest secret santa exchange are revealed, because the fic I wrote is one I’m really proud of. I can’t say much about it yet, but what I can say is that I wrote it in roughly a day and a half, I literally jumped into the exchange just before it ended, and I still somehow managed to write 6k of the sweetest, fluffiest fic. I couldn’t have done this without my amazing beta, who was there with me every step of the way, or without my britpicker who jumped in even later to sort some things out for me, or without the wwc and their constant supportive yelling. (Also you’re all welcome for the 6k hint, that’s all you’re gonna get for now.)
