Laughing in the Face of Fear: The Jester Trailer
Tumblr media
Welcome to the bone-chilling world of "The Jester," a forthcoming horror movie that promises to deliver spine-tingling thrills and psychological terror like no other. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at the tantalizing trailer for this film, which has already sent shockwaves through the horror community. Brace yourselves for a journey into the depths of fear as we unmask the madness that awaits in "The Jester." Colin Krawchuk wrote and directed The Jester from a story by Krawchuk and Michael Sheffield. Eduardo Sánchez, co-creator of the original horror blockbuster The Blair Witch Project, Patrick Ewald and Mary Beth McAndrews served as the film’s executive producers. The Jester is based on a short film trilogy by Krawchuk. The feature film stars Lelia Symington (Brut Force), Matt Servitto (The Sopranos), Ken Arnold (Swagger) and Sam Lukowski (Satanic Hispanics). “After the recent death of their father, two estranged sisters find themselves being stalked by a malevolent being known as The Jester. Revealing himself to be more than just a man in a mask, the evil entity begins to further torment the inhabitants of this small town on Halloween night. The path to defeating this unholy monster lies with the two sisters who realize that the only way to survive is to figure out how to right the wrongs of their dark past.”    Epic Picture Group CEO Patrick Ewald says, “When Brian Clarke (developer of The Mortuary Assistant game) introduced me to Colin’s insanely popular YouTube shorts of The Jester (over 30 million views), I was immediately captivated and knew we had to make a feature film out of them. It is incredible to see how Colin has taken his original concept and evolved it into a truly terrifying feature film. I can’t wait for audiences to experience this new face of evil in the supernatural entity known as The Jester.” “It’s been so exciting to see the little short film we made back in 2016 eventually get us to the big screen,” says Director Colin Krawchuk. “Turning the essence of a short into a feature was an unexpected challenge and one that could not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of a passionate crew. I’m excited for audiences to see our talented actors bring these new characters to life alongside a reimagined Jester.”

Every night the king would have a little to drink, he would always tell the jester his secrets. In fact, the king loved the jester as much as any of his round table. He trusted him, and always wanted him to be part of his celebrations. The jester received all the secrets from the king, because he was humble and disarmed himself every time he would dance in front of the court.

Absolutely, @vesper-thejester! Not sure why I didn't include it in the first place, to be honest with you. I got this info from Dorothy Morrison's Everyday Moon Magic: Spells & Rituals for Abundant Living (2008)!
full moon folklore
It's said that each of the 10 days following a full moon holds a magic all its own, and that those who pay heed to the individual attributes and use them as prescribed below can expect to become very powerful, indeed. Please note that these are only folklore/myths, so take this information with a grain of salt!
First Day: This is an excellent time to begin new projects and get new businesses off the ground. It's also an especially lucky day for babies to be born, as these children are said to live exceptionally long, healthy, and prosperous lives. In fact, the only downside to this day at all has to do with illness, as becoming sick now apparently results in an extremely lengthy recuperation period.
Second Day: There is absolutely nothing unlucky about this day; in fact, it vibrates toward riches of all sorts. This is an exceptional time for both merchandise sales and bargain-hunting, and crops and gardens are also said to thrive if planted now.
Third Day: This is not a good day to be born, for it's believed that the children in question are not only likely to be weak, frail, and sickly, but will remain so throughout their lives. Personal theft also seems to make the rounds today. The only upside is that thieves are more likely to be caught in short order — but whether they'll be caught with your belongings is anybody's guess!
Fourth Day: If you're planning to make repairs to your property or redecorate or remodel your home, now is the time to do it. In fact, this day bodes well for anything having to do with building or construction. It's also said that children born on this day are very likely to embrace political careers, but that early training, especially regarding the difference between right and wrong, is imperative to their future successes.
Fifth Day: Known as the "weather marker," it's said that the rest of the month will mirror today's weather. My sources also tell me that this is the best day of the month to conceive a child. I don't know whether this is true or not; however, if babies aren't high on your priority list, a bit of extra precaution might be in order here!
Sixth Day: This is a great day to kick back, relax, and do something nice for yourself. And since it bodes well for making memories, a vacation begun today could prove to be the most fun-filled ever. It's also said to be a very lucky day for hunting, fishing, and outdoor sports of all types.
Seventh Day: Apparently, opportunities simply abound for finding that perfect mate today. So, if you're unattached and looking, get out there and see what this day has to offer. You've got nothing to lose, and you might just get lucky!
Eighth Day: Be very careful of your health today, for it's believed that those who get sick today may not recover, and those who do are likely to be exceptionally weak for some time.
Ninth Day: If you want to keep your good looks, don't gaze upon the Moon today. In fact, you might want to sleep in a totally darkened room, for it's said that if any of tonight's moonlight touches your face, the Moon will certainly steal away all of its beauty.
Tenth Day: Patience is the keyword here, especially when dealing with children born on this day. They're not only said to be hyperactive, opinionated, and headstrong, but may lack even so much as a shred of respect for any sort of authority.

Every Heart a Doorway Archetypes
Archetypes are a set of specific and identifiable traits that helps an audience pinpoint why they’re able to relate to a character from a book or movie- though they don’t always have to be relatable. In the novel, Every Heart a Doorway, readers get introduced to a multitude of unique characters. They all share a sense of otherness that people in their lives can’t comprehend, hence why their parents sent them to a boarding school in hopes that it would normalize them, but in actuality, the school helps them embrace their individuality. Because the book emphasizes how different each student’s world are from one another, I thought it would be interesting to explore what archetype suits a few of the main characters’ personality and why I’ve selected the archetype for them. By simplifying the characters' personas into the 12 possible archetypes, it’ll be easier to understand their motivations and goals in life.
Nancy (The Everyman)
As the protagonist of the story, Nancy resonates with readers as she's figuring out her new life at Eleanor's boarding school, similar to how readers are navigating the new world the author has introduced. For most of the story, she goes along with whatever is occurring at the school to fit in and feel less like an outsider. Before discovering the real murderer at the school, Nancy was afraid of her schoolmates and the administrators blaming her for the recent deaths as she's the new girl with an eerie background. Despite having those suspicions running through her head, Nancy remains grounded and does her best to be helpful by burying and disposing of the bodies of her ex-schoolmates.
Kade (The Sage)
The Sage is someone who others seek knowledge from and often referred to as a mother figure or mentor. From the beginning of the novel, Kade distinguishes himself as this archetype by guiding students at Eleanor’s boarding school. For instance, when Nancy first arrived, Sumi introduced her to Kade so that he can fix the clothes her parents packed for her. As the story progresses and students at the boarding school begin to die mysteriously, Kade remained level-headed and was able to console Eleanor and Nancy when they became overwhelmed. Kade’s calm demeanor, along with his natural leadership abilities, makes it more plausible that he’ll be a phenomenal headmaster of Eleanor’s school when he inherits it.
Jack (The Explorer)
Jack embodies the personality traits of the explorer as she’s someone who doesn’t stick to the status quo and likes to explore the unknown. She labels herself as a mad scientist and was in her element when she was disposing of Loriel's body. Throughout the book, Jack remains confident of her innocence and didn't let her classmates' comments get to her. In fact, it fueled her to find out the cause of Loriel's death. Additionally, Jack's experience with being Dr. Bleak's apprentice motivates her to continue satiating her love for science.
Jill (The Lover)
Unlike her twin sister, Jack, Jill remains hopeful that she'll be reunited with her Master, so much so that she's driven to kill her classmates. Jill believes that building "the perfect girl" will allow her to make the skeleton key that unlocks her door, not realizing how irrational it is to kill others for her benefit. Despite everyone pleading with her on how illogical her plan to return to her Master is, she still proceeds to kill Seraphina, but luckily her sister intervened before she could. Jill's main downfall is letting her emotion guide her decisions, not realizing her Master is using her naivety against her.
Sumi (The Jester)
Although we don't get to see much of Sumi due to her death in Chapter 4, from what readers do get to see, she is a free-spirited girl who could care less about what others think of her. In a way, she provides comedic relief, especially during Nancy's transition living in the boarding school, by being extremely blunt. She asks all sorts of questions like if Nancy wants to do the "bing-bang" with Kade or if it was ok if she masturbates in their bedroom. It's the kind of joking banter that two friends would have. Although Sumi doesn't get to live out her dream of living in Eleanor's attic for the rest of her life, her letter (later discovered at the end of the book) does provide insight (like the jester) for Nancy before she walks through her door.
To wrap up my analysis on the archetypes, Every Heart a Doorway is a light-hearted book that presents darker themes, like death, which make it easy for readers, like myself, to read without feeling there’s a hidden message I’m not grasping. I also appreciate how the author introduces LGBTQIA+ characters seamlessly and conveys it through interesting dialogue. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would like to continue reading the series to learn more about these character's personalities.

“Lord, I live to entertain
All my pride is in my praise
I hum along with this vibration
And hope to God I make it
If any chord that I could strum
Make me feel less like a man
I'd slam my fingers in the doorway
And shatter all the bones
So I could never strum again
Is there anybody out there
Looking out for me?”

The jester and the king were good friends. The king liked the jester because the jester always disarmed himself by making a fool of himself.
So every night, the king would get drunk and whisper secrets into the jester’s ear. The jester was known as a fool to everyone in the town, but he was the only one who knew the king’s secrets.
