Idea I've had for a while, basically opposite types = opposite personalities! Decided to draw em as design practice Steel/Dark type Bede, Fighting type Marnie, and Eternatus Hop Some ideas for them under the cut

Bede: -Very cheerful and charismatic, although a bit unhinged. Refuses to call anyone by their name and uses nicknames instead. Does not care for the gym challenge, just doing it because it seems fun. Spends most of his time in caves camping, hence the dirt on his boots. He is banned from most hotels due to this lol Team: Archaludon (ace), Skarmony, Tyranitar, Absol, Kingambit, Aggron Marnie: Outgoing, definitely sporty, tries way too much to have people like 'em. Always on the phone. Not that popular, team yell doesn't exist here. Tries to copy Piers as much as possible. Team: Pawmot (ace), Machamp. Annihilape, Breloom, Grapploct, Urshifu (Rapid-Strike) Hop: Nervous, very introverted. Does not speak unless spoken to. Does not idolize Leon in the slightest, actually dislikes him. Snarky whenever he wins a battle, amazing battler, laser focused. Instead of Bede ruining his confidence, he actually holds him up, becoming a sort of sidekick. He's also a tad angry Team: Toxicroak (ace), Donphan, Blissey, Milotic, Skarmony (gifted by Bede) and later on Eternatus

I think battling wise his Pokémon would know a lot of moves that inflict shock/poison/sleep. I do think I missed the opportunity to give him Toedscruel, but I often forget gen 9 exists. I think he’d be particularly interested in Parasect and the whole thing it has going on? Idk

Inteleon reminded me of him especially because of Sobble and I think it would be his ace pkmn!

I have decided to jump onto the Twst x Pokemon train, so have my picks for Heartslabyul pkmn teams! (Yes, some of them have been stolen ideas, but man, people are correct)

There is definitely a Theme I chose for Cater. Due to the rose aspect of the dorm. I wanted all the Heartslabyul members to have at least one grass type, so I thought that Fomantis would work well! Dedenne is there for Cater’s connection to the internet and stuff, plus it’s a cute pikaclone, so it’s a good parallel to Mimikyu (Who he secretly likes the most, yet is one of the Pokemon he uses the least) Sylveon is there for funsies :)

Another clear theme here of food. For his token grass type I chose Eldegoss, simply cause I thought it fit him. Smeargle is there for his “Paint The Roses”/“Doodle Suit” and Alcremie would have the clovers instead of the strawberries, but the site I was using didn’t have that option, so oh well

First off, Inteleon is there bc I wanted to have Ace, Deuce & Yuu have a starter trio, and I thought it’d make sense for Ace to choose the one that’s effective against Yuu’s, and Deuce would have the one weak against Yuu’s, and since I wanted to give Ace Cinderace, that means that Deuce gets Inteleon. + color coding fun. Why those three? ADeuce is from Twst Britain. Galar is basically pkmn Britain. Or wtvr. I’m American, I don’t know these things lol. Scraggy is an obvious choice, and his token grass type would have to be Breloom for the fighting type aspect :) Bagon makes sense to me as both are aiming to be something greater. Don’t worry buddy, you’ll learn to fly one day. Patrat feels like a good fit, since I wanted to give him a route one pkmn, and Patrat fit him best to me. Flamigo is another fighting type, and more importantly represents the Heartslabyul flamingos

Cinderace has already been explained, but Vespiquen is for ME and ME alone. But uh, roses=flowers=bees. Vespiquen 👍 Nicket just felt like an Ace pkmn, and Pidgy is the most Normal pkmn out there, so Ace, being the most normal person in NRC, it makes sense. Plus Ace’s wind magic. Shaymin, while yes, is a mythical, but shh, it’s the closest thing that pkmn has to hedgehogs (I’m pretty sure at least) and it’s sky form just fit Ace a lot to me. And again, wind magic. Corvisquire was just for the vibes honestly. If you’d like, you can switch out Vespiquen for idk, Rattata or Raticate and Corvisquire for a different rt. 1 pkmn in your head 🤷‍♀️

Roserade is obvious, and again, Shaymin for the hedgehogs. Rapidash is for the equestrian club, plus the fire aspect of Riddle. I wanted Riddle to have a feminine pkmn for the queen aspect, but a lot of them I could see Vil with too, and I didn’t want to repeat pkmn too much (at all if possible, but that might be a bit easier said than done, and I’m not that far in planning this yet to know) plus I wanted another fire type, so Delphox fit. I had already given Sinistea to Trey, so Sinistcha is now Riddle’s. For Comfey, I wanted to give him a pkmn that represented his mom, and since his parents are medical mages, I wanted to give Riddle a “medical” pkmn too. (His dad would have a Blissey and his mom would have Audino, methinks) So add the “medical” aspect plus the “rose(/flowers)” aspect, and you get Comfey

And as a bonus!

I didn’t want to give him a full team, so Spinda feels obvious to me, Skitty bc cat and Meowstic bc I wanted him to have a psychic pkmn + cat (side note, I honestly really wanted to give Riddle an espurr, but I couldn’t justify it enough to myself to actually give him one, so oh well)

Crobat is my Ace. The fact it evolves through friendship and is actually stong is so cool to me.

Porygon and its evolutions are just so cute to me. And it has many unique gimmicks I love.

Breloom is one of my first Pokémon in the games. A little weak but it’s very sweet.

Sawsbuck has a beautiful gimmick with the seasons. And it’s a surprisingly strong pokemon.

Spheal is Spheal. Baby.

Houndoom is a Pokémon that gets a lot of hate in the Pokédex. I think it would be an amazingly cool pet, despite its reputation. Give it love.

Pokémon Radical Red and the Lack of a Watsonian Explanation

Alright, so I wanna preface this by saying that I by no means hate this hack, and I'm not trying to diminish its undeniable effect on the community, for better or for worse. This is purely my opinion on the absolutely dogshit story and the fact that there's zero environmental storytelling because every trainer has to pose a challenge.

The very first non-rival boss battle, Falkner, has a Wattrel with Volt Absorb even though it's more in-character for him to have Wind Power due to his flavour text in his Johto battles when he's down to his last Pokémon.

Brock used to have a Vulpix, a nice nod to the anime, only for him to then have a Varoom instead for... what reason??? Why??? Like. It counters Grass, I guess, but it's also got STAB that's resisted by Water and is quadruple weak to Ground, weird ass fucking choice all around.

Misty says her strategy is "all-out offense with Water Pokémon" and they gave her a fucking Clodsire??? A non-water wall???? Like, if they wanted her to have stall so bad, Alomomola was right there, she's shown to be a romantic in both the games and the anime, it would make more sense. But no, Clodsire.

Alolan Raichu is too cute for Surge, and he in particular doesn't seem like the type to use something so ““unmanly””, not to mention it's a regional variant and he just... Seems too patriotic for Alolan Raichu specifically(I hate Surge and love Alolan Raichu, hope this helps).

Erika suffers from this the most imo, as her eepy ass not only gets Rillaboom, the loud drummer, but also Hisuian Electrode, a loud, fast round thing that explodes(which would suit Surge more). Like, just give her Amoongus. For the love of fuck, just give her the damn mushroom.

Why the shit does Chuck have Breloom and Gallade?? He canonically uses angry, bulky looking Fighting types(Poliwrath and Primape), instead of an Elegant knight and a stally mushroom.

Why the FUCK would you give Giovanni Kangaskhan as his ace. Like, in any capacity???? Is it a nod to the theory? Is it debunking the theory? I don't know, fuck you Parental Bond go brr! Like. This decision makes me so irrationally angry because Mega Evolving Garchomp(which he already has) would make much more sense. Giovanni's canon team and calculated actions show that he's clearly More into slower, bulkier builds(Rhydon, Nidoqueen), and so the loss of speed is perfectly In-character for him.

Also, why include May at all, she has no purpose other than to give you a Torchic, which you can get through like all of the city eggs, plus the fire type shard eggs, and that's if you didn't choose it as your starter???

Like. She's never seen again??? And then Brendan gives the player a Destiny Knot??? For reasons????

If that's the culmination of Brendan's """arc""", why wasn't it Lyra/Ethan, whoever they hc as the Daycare Couple's grandchild? It'd make more sense for them to have, and give, the Destiny Knot.

My name is Brendan (You can call me Em if you want to differentiate me). I'm technically the Champ of Hoenn, but technically I share that title with Steven, since it's not a good look for a region to let a fifteen-year-old be Champ. It's also not a good look to make a fifteen-year-old save the world (twice), but eh. That was a year ago. We're past that!

I have a lot of Pokémon, but my main team is this:

Sunny [Male Blaziken] - My partner and starter. With me through thick and thin. Buddy boy.

Aster [Female Absol] - A sweetheart who's saved my ass a few times.

Shroom [Male Breloom] - Ol' Reliable.

Frost [Female Mightyena] - One of the first Pokémon I caught, and an absolute ace when it comes to Ice Fang.

Ferro [Metagross] - A gift from Steven I've been working on training up. We're getting there!

Nerites [Male Milotic] - The handsomest boy ever.

If you're in the loop, you've also probably seen me with Rayquaza (And before you say anything YES I AM AWARE I DON'T PRONOUNCE IT RIGHT I HAVE AN ACCENT CAN WE PLEASE MOVE ON) and Kyogre. And Latias (I named her Storm). I also have a Deoxys (That one is named Neowise!) but y'know. I don't really use them in regular battle, but most of the time I have them on me anyways.

I hang out with my friends, May, Wally, and Lisia a lot, (I also am like half Archie's parole officer but like. He's cool. Dad energy) so if you ever want to know what's up with them, I'm a decent source. You can ask about them. Or me! I don't. Really care.

Not much to say here. This is a Alpha Sapphire protagonist blog. Gameverse! I do take some elements from Emerald, but I have not played that game, so. Y'know.

Because Brendan is very much a protagonist, he will be slightly overpowered. Alpha Sapphire gives you easy access to four different mythicals/legendaries (Way more actually but I'm not giving him those). He has protagonist syndrome. To combat this, he does not use said legendaries in battle most of the time.

Another thing is that he really doesn't have that much angst. All his angst is basically "I am a sixteen year old boy" angst. The situation with Kyogre and Rayquaza doesn't bother him. He has a good home life. Feel free to make fun of him for this. You can try and make him feel bad but he will probably just "L + Ratio" you. He is very much a teenage boy.

Man, this one is a bit hard, but I was discussing it a bit sort of recently lol Didn't fully settle all of it tho, but there are a lot of different ways to answer it!

Jayce I at least know for sure would be an Ace/Cool Trainer type. Lots of evolved and powerful types pokemon and a decently balanced team. Someone who travels around a lot and had raised his team himself and picked them up from all over as he went. It's been very hard for me to settle fully on his team, but also think he'd actually swap some out for whatever is needed for his next mission and could have more than 6. Did say he might have started with a runt, shiny Nidoran♂ that is now a Nidoking. But also mentioned Haxorus, Toxtricity (amped), Noivern, Grimmsnarl, Obstagoon, Scolipede, Gigalith, Tinkaton, Gyarados... Def want some others for balance, but those are some that first came to mind for him I guess? He'd be one who really wants to keep team balance in mind for advantages and trains them to know how to fight like he did himself but also... those would be his babies and more than just fighting machines. He's going to make them the best they can be! Seems he's mostly drawn to dark, poison, and dragon tho... Lucy I didn't get settled down quite as much still... I think she'd be more drawn to fairy, fire, grass, and water. She might also have a full team since she does a lot of fighting for work. Talked about her having an Aclremie with some blue (not sure which variant tho). She likes cute things, but also would have some powerhouses I think (but a lot of the fairy types ARE powerhouses). Might have had an Eevee that is now an Espeon? Some she might be likely to have could be Breloom, Politoad, Flaafy, Meganium, Mienshao, and maybe Liepard??

Isn't its hard to train breloom to not let spore out? How helena train her breloom and not affected by breloom spore? (or she got breloom spore everyday when breloom was recently caught) I thought breloom gonna fill her house with spore

I've had Jinx since I was a kid, our bond was strong even before we started training as aces. she was a shroomish an' I definitely got hit by spores more times than I can count, it probably wasn't the best for by brain cells tbh

after she evolved the training centered on mindfulness, since her spore release was instinctual, to stop it she needed to be conscious of what caused the release. fightin' types tend to like meditation so we started with that. th' process took years, an' a lot of exposure to stressors. it's not something every breloom is capable of learning (because of the effort and self-control required, it relies heavily on trainer bonds), it's like learning how to flex a muscle you never knew existed, an' the whole process is exhausting and time-consuming. I doubt I'll ever train another breloom to do it, it was only successful because I got to spend all my time working with her.

I'm really proud of Jinx, there's still incidents sometimes but each year they're fewer an' fewer. she was th' product of a perfect moment in time in which I had time for focus and could funnel resources into her an' my other team members. definitely worth it :)
