I like to think that both Jack and Tenenbaum knew what was happening with the Big Sisters taking little girls from the surface and that Jack wanted to help Brigid by going back to Rapture with her, but she was adamant about him staying on the surface to be there for his daughters that he was able to save.
I agree! I mean I don't know how deeply they knew about Big Sisters and their origins (you'll have to forgive me, my ARG knowledge is surface level so you can correct me on that if it does good deeper into that lol) but with girls disappearing around Atlantic coasts, the sightings of Big Sisters, bundled with Meltzer contacting Tenenbaum they would’ve had a solid enough picture of the problem to make a plan of action, especially since they’re one of the few people who actually know about Rapture in full on the surface- though I don’t think they’d know anything about their enemy in Lamb or her goals.
Of course, Tenenbaum, in her work of atonement for her work on ADAM and Little Sisters, considers saving the stolen children and stopping whoever is behind it her responsibility and burden to bear, and Jack is a morally upstanding person and learning that more children are being forced through the horrors of Rapture that he’s experienced, that his daughters had to go through, would want to help and be a part of saving the next generation of little sisters.
Like you said though, Tenenbaum would not allow Jack to come with her. He’ll always be ranked among her little ones, regardless of how grown he is, and after eight years of peace of and healing she wouldn’t want to drag him back and expose him to more pain- plus he does have his children that are still dependent on him and need support. The last time he returned the city he’d been an object on standby- he didn’t have anything to leave behind and that’s not the case now.
I think Jack would try and argue with her about it (they’re both so stubborn sdjkfls) to convince her to let him go in place of her (because he doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her either, they’re family). He was designed and built to survive and take Rapture in the first place, he’d have a better chance of surviving (Idk if having Ryan’s blood would still give him an edge by BS2? I imagine Ryan’s genetics would be too built into Rapture to completely get rid of, but I can’t remember if there was something in BS2 that implied otherwise).
Of course, none of this logic sits with Tenenbaum at all, and in the end, she goes back alone with the knowledge that Jack and the girls are away and safe for the horrors she’s facing- and knowing that if she never comes back home he’ll never forgive her. He made her take his wrench so she can’t forget, and maybe for a bit of good luck (if you don’t think the wrench she has at the end of Minerva’s Den is Jack’s idk what to tell you- it IS and in this Ted Talk I will-)
Leaving Jack to hold down the fort on the surface until Tenenbaum comes back home, trying to figure out how to balance the truth of the situation with his daughters while making sure not to let anything slip that might remind them of their pasts. Tenenbaum’s absence would be too noticeable to not have a conversation, they all loved her. Together they all have to support each other as they wait for her to come back.

Andy really has the range. He can look like a British noble filled with sonnets to lyrically romanticize someone or an American trucker that raws people in gas stations whenever he chooses.
😂😂 I appreciate your way with words. I completely agree. People can say “AcTiNG” but not every actor/actress has range; there’s a reason people find actors out of place in a modern movie or in a period piece. But Andy’s spanned it all. He’s just as natural as Edgar Linton in 18th century Yorkshire as he is as Edgar Cooke in 1990s London. He really has a chameleon ability, change his hair, change his posture, change his facial expressions; he’s very physical. He can look like he should be wearing a waistcoast strolling across his sprawling English estate or rolling out of his busted up old pickup truck in the American south. It’s why people pigeonholing him to one role bothers me, he’s so much more than whatever random role of his that a person refuses to see beyond. He truly has range and as a fan I appreciate all the different characters he’s allowed me to experience because Simon Casey sure as hell isn’t anything like Rick Grimes or Hugh Collinson or Edgar Linton.

Antlers is about the Wendigo - a Native American evil spirit that causes cannibalism and violence. It’s based on a short story called The Quiet Boy. It’s literally the scariest short story I ever read. If the movie is anything like it, it will be the scariest movie in years. It was supposed to come out in April 2020, but then delayed to October 2020 and then April 2021 and then now October 2021 due to COVID. I have waited forever and I cannot wait anymore.
Oh nice, I've read a little about Wendigos but that was years ago, it looks really good just from that little bit so I'll be watching for sure ^_^

Are you American or British? Because pretty much everywhere else in the world, kids live with their parents. Even after they get married and have kids, they sometimes still live together. Even in America, a lot of non-white people do that. Americans used to live with their parents until the 1960s, when we became a global and economic superpower. But now that everything sucks again, we're back to living with our parents. Moving out of our parents home is a relatively new and stupid phenomena.
yeah sadly i am caucasian american and we see the whole “leave when you’re 18″ as a law basically

When Isaac is on the tram and he reverses it and says he has to go back on the Ishimura, I refused to go for like 20 minutes. That's how scared I was to go back on. Easily one of the scariest moments in gaming for me.
I know right? I just said hell no I’m not going back in there because I know what’s in there. I think that is the scariest part in the whole trilogy, going back on the Ishimura.

Per your question about the zombie guts thing - it's a last resort. It was shown in Season 7 that the walker guts can you make you incredibly ill if you are not careful - and fatal if it enters your blood stream. Plus it could get washed off or dry and you have to keep on washing it. It's better to do what Michonne did which is get yourself zombie pets.
Oh thank you lol. Yeah I mean I figured it’s pretty gross and dangerous and unreliable. I’m only on season 5 but I’m sure ppl getting sick off zombie guts will be super fun to witness in season 7!! lol can’t wait. In the meantime I’ll just keep being upset about Beth, as well as rooting for Rick to keep growing out his beard, and hoping hopelessly that no one else I like dies horribly. :’)

I remember playing BioShock 2 for the first time and how in my first playthrough I wanted to save all the Little Sisters - but after 2 hours of Dionysus Park and accidentally harvesting the last Little Sister - I didn't want to backtrack. So I got the sad ending on my first go. Fucked me right up.

I feel like there things you should know. I liked Glenn more than Carl. The reason why I said what I said was because Carl was the protagonist of the comics and ends with him surviving. Glenn’s death in the comics impacts all the characters. If you were to look back in my posts from 2016 where all of this was happening, I actually wanted Daryl to get Glenn’s death. I LOVE Glenn way more than Daryl. The post was about me being a comic fan and realizing it was an adaptation.

@thegaymerist I see your point, but the issue of representation is vital in discussions like this.

thegaymerist replied to your post “I honestly don’t mind the job search that much. What I really hate is...”
i'm going through the same exact thing. i currently have a job at the library that she doesn't see as a real job, and my job here expires next month so i have to find a new job. it's hard, because i don't have a whole lot of marketable skills and i don't want to work in retail again
My parents keep saying stuff like “if you don’t get something, work at McDonald’s or something” and I absolutely refuse to do that. As if I needed more pressure. And I feel you on the marketable skills thing. Hell, I have a master’s degree and I don’t feel like it’s helping me at the moment. Still, I’m applying to anything that piques my interest that I have some experience in.
I can tell they think I’ve got some sense of naivety about how the world works, but I’m well aware of how things go. I hate the whole “you don’t know the world” mentality. I might work as a substitute teacher as a fallback, but I really hope one of my applications lands me an interview. Best of luck with your job hunting!

I just saw someone say that when Negan was playing Gears of War 2 he could've been playing online with Carl during that time... my mind is BLOWN. It makes sense too - I was Carl's age (12) when I started playing Gears. I almost wish they got Chandler to do a little voice cameo to make that connection.
If I had a list of things I wish this show did I would have died under it's weight 45 seasons and 56 million disappointments ago, bruv.

Hi there. I just wanted to say sorry. I feel like my post was taken out of context. I didn’t mean it be about Asian people being ripped from great Asian representation. In fact, if you looked in my past posts in 2016, I wanted Daryl to get Glenn’s comic death. When Glenn died, I understood why. Because he had the most connections to all the group members. My post was never meant to be about Asians or favoring white characters over POC characters. I loved Glenn more than Carl and Daryl.
Cont’d As a gay man, I’ve endured too many gay characters dying for Bury Your Gays. When Eric died in the show, I was upset but understood why it happened. But then Jesus died, and he lives in the comics and has a great relationship with Aaron. I absolutely hated that, but I didn’t quit the show. So that was my point of view. As a minority, I understand being denied representation. I do apologize for any hurt feelings, the post was never meant to be about race. I would love have more discussions
(In relation to this post.) Hello, thank you for replying. I’m glad that we understand each other, usually that never happens. And yeah, my inbox is always open for discussions. @thegaymerist

I understand what thegaymerist is talking about but I will never accept mediocrity just cuz a story is diverse. Most of the anger seems to be because of [SPOILER] rather than because all those gamers are bigots. Also, some LGBT people seem to hate the game BECAUSE of how the LGBT characters were treated.
Exactly.
I understand wanting to support games with LGBT+ representation and protagonists... But TLOU2 ain’t it fam. Accepting that and calling the game great and singing high praise for it because it has an LGBT+ protagonist only enables coming to put out garbage and say “We have a gay protag! Come buy our game!” even if the writing is shit, the character is disliked, the gameplay sucks, etc.

thegaymerist replied to your post “I feel like there things you should know. I liked Glenn more than...”
I understand. I just wanted to let you know that I have always defended my fandoms from bigotry (in fact my post before Glenn was calling out the racism and transphobia of The Last of Us fandom). I felt like my post was taken out of context, and I received several death threats because of it. We’re on the same side. My opinion was just that Glenn was never the protagonist of the show or comics, it was never intended to favor white characters over POC.
I just wanted us to be okay. And I know people have the right to respond to what I post out in the world - I just want people to not take it out of context and send me death threats and hate for a non-racial opinion.
@thegaymerist I really hope that those anon threats didn’t come from our followers! I’m sorry that you’re getting nasty anons. Just in case, I’ve taken down the post with my reply (since you’ve deleted it as well). Just for the record - you’ve posted that original post in the Glenn tags and the rest replies were there in the notes - that’s how I’ve seen your post.
As a fan of color I have to see this same opinion you’ve posted earlier all the time and not just in TWD fandom, but in all the fandoms. So, your earlier post is not just your opinion, but is part of the larger fandom pattern and that pattern is really really tiresome.
The fact that Glenn was never the protagonist doesn’t negate the fact that he was getting racist hate ever since season two, when he stopped being the funny Asian sideckick of Rick’s and started having his own romantic plot with Maggie.
And even if he wasn’t the protagonist there were a lot of people who related to him. Glenn is not just another white character and you can’t take race out of the equation,
