I used @bannerbutteratl (garlic version) yesterday on some grilled salmon that was hitting too. #Repost @thedaleyplate (with @report.for.insta) ... Grilled strip steak with Parmesan butter & one of the best fresh tomato salads you’ll ever eat 🤤. . Rarely post twice a day, but this is too good not to share, especially with fresh off the vine heirloom tomatoes. The salads contrast in flavor to the richness of steak and Parmesan butter (1 package kerrygold, 1tsp black peppercorns & 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan in a food processor until combined, rolled into a tube & refrigerated until solid) is unbelievable! Inspired by my trip to NYC & cooking demo by Chef Josh Capon (still can’t believe I got invited 🤩). . Place thickly sliced tomatoes on a platter. Season with black pepper, chives, add fresh basil. Then drizzle with some of this marinade: 1/4 cup olive oil, 1tsp chopped parsley, 2 tablespoons aged red wine vinegar, 2 teaspoons dijon mustard, 1 garlic clove, finely minced, 1 teaspoon sugar or honey. This & That Weekend Edition
Wow what a week it’s been! I got home from the beach on Monday and jumped back in with both feet! Between blogging, catching up on appointments…nails, lashes, hair…and getting ready for my daughter Sarah and grandson to come home for a while, I am one tired girl!
Does anyone else feel as if they can never get it all done! We’ve had painters here, the laundry is piled high, the dogs are crazy and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. But…it finally feels like summer is in full swing and I’m very happy about that!
I’m headed to Boston on Friday of this week to visit my daughter Rebecca and the weather is going to be really nice! I’ve been so many times to visit, but only once during warm weather and she was moving so we had no time to be tourists. This trip, I’m excited to go to the seaport and have a lobster roll and stroll around taking pictures! I’ll be doing a travel post of all the things to do in Boston when the weather is warm! We’re staying at the Liberty Hotel on Charles Street…it was originally built to be the Charles Street Jail!
I’m also looking ahead to July 4th! We’ll be having a big family cookout and I’m researching some new recipes! If anyone has a delicious side dish they would like to share…please let me know!

This looks so yummily! #Repost @thedaleyplate (with @report.for.insta) ... Seasons come and go but our love for cozy meals (and butter pools) lasts forever. Spaghetti squash mash, sautéed spinach & my preserved lemon/herb chicken skewers. . Back in the day growing up in South Africa we ate so much chicken as opposed to other more expensive meats like lamb or beef. It was cheap, my mom would transform it into a thousand different meals and it was quick to prepare. I grew tired of it quickly, and joked that we would grow wings if we ate more to amuse my two younger sisters ☺️. But now I’m rediscovering it, so much so that @foodminimalist says I should change my username to TheChickenPlate™️ 😜. . It’s so easy to make, here’s the #ketofriendly no-recipe that feeds 4: . Cut 1-2lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and put in a bowl with 1tbsp preserved lemon paste (please, not lemon curd), 2 crushed garlic cloves or 2tsp garlic paste, 1tbsp olive oil, 1-2 tsp finely chopped rosemary, just a little salt and cracked pepper to taste. The preserved lemon paste is already salty. Cover, refrigerate minimum 1 hour, skewer & grill (broil) in 375F oven until cooked through. Squeeze some lemon juice over, zest is nice too but chives are a must. . For the spaghetti squash mash I just: Put a whole one in the microwave for 5 minutes to soften it (makes it easier to cut). Cut in half, then steam in Instant Pot for 12 minutes high pressure until super tender. Remove seeds, put flesh in a food processor with butter and a few tablespoons of Parmesan. Pulse until smooth, serve with butter & pan juices from chicken.
